It may take a little time, and it didn't help that quite a few people jumped ship or went back to lurking after all the recent unpleasantness, but hopefully things will calm down before too long. We just need to stop bickering among ourselves and resist the urge to rise to the bait when the trolls crawl out from under their bridges.

I thought I got it and then I sort of lost interest, a bit like how I feel about Muffety-who. Nice to see Morriaty again though.

It is a very strange feeling I get watching it, like I've seen it before. Oh, but it could be that Moffat keeps recycling his Doctor Who ideas in it! Last week we the 'Mayfly man' which he's obsessed with. The war Doctor was his 'mayfly Doctor' which was an idea he recycled from Curse of Fatal Death and last night, in the finale, I was amazed to hear the line 'the question hidden in plain sight'.

I can't help but wonder if the series wouldn't have been helped by having shorter episodes. I quite like the idea and motivation behind their take on the Holmes story, but somehow the style seems to have been allowed to walk over the substance.

I'm re-watching all stars,

Loved seeing everyone again but had a little problem with the format of being paired up and both going - so it was alot shorter than it should have been, but to see Raven & Jujubee lip-synching against each other was hell! I mean Nina going second -seriously! - and wasn't too happy with the winner, who I loved on Season 4 but liked less on All-stars because of Chanel who I wanna punch. But any Drag-Race is better than no Drag-Race, right.
I would die for a second, longer, not paired up season!

Support each other. Resist attempts to stir the pot. You will be just fine. In my honest opinion, you'll be great. Look what you have managed to do so far. Not without pain, but you are still here.

We do support each other, but by definition support for one must fly in the face of another, we are all obviously very opinionated on every topic that we choose to discus and that is good, it makes for lively and interesting debate, but from time to time arguments do erupt and we cope with them in our own way.

The latest problems however are not caused by lively debate but by the offensive and downright rudeness of some members, I personally have kept out of much of the arguing and name calling but I have read each post made by all concerned, yours included.

Now I am going to have my say, this is not an attempt to ‘stir the pot’ rather an attempt to get this thread back on line.

Amanda; You started this thread, and for that we are eternally grateful, and I hope you are right in the fact that we will continue, but it was your posts that ignited the flames in the first place, the fact that this is your creation does not give you the right to control or censer us in any way, and I for one was left with the impression that if you couldn’t control us then you would destroy us instead, (I apologies unreservedly if that wasn’t your intention, but that is certainly how it came across). It is inevitable that people will diversify from the original topic that is laid down in the title, is that so bad? If I had created this thread I would be proud and take pleasure in knowing that I had created a place of such interest.

I now regard this place as a social meeting ground and enjoy each topic and most of the mad crazy comments that are made, and so should you. I know much of what you said concerned the accessibility of the audio links, and yes they are a bonus, the rate at which Large Conclusions are releasing new stuff is alarming at times and I for one would not have half of what I do have without this place.

Which brings me to the next subject that is causing concern and bad feeling; the audio links.

Goldie2012; it is true you have shared much but at what cost? I for one am sick and tired of reading post after post of sarcastic comments aimed at anyone you dislike, You have “caused more and bloodier wars” with your personal remarks and downright rudeness, is there any need for this? I think not. Ok you are not the only one guilty of this, and I’m sorry if you feel I have singled you out, I know we have never crossed swords as such but some of your comments have infuriated me.

The fact that you are a sharer does not give you the right to try and hold this thread and its members to ransom. We are all grateful to anyone and everyone who shares, and that does include you, but I for one do not like the way in which you make threat after threat of leaving (and taking your links with you) if you don’t get your own way, come on, are you really that childish? I would hope not.

Quiet honestly I have no feeling either way weather you stay or go, just make up your mind. If you’re going to stay then do so, and be part of the group, rather than seek to control it.

I will say that sending links via pm to your chosen few flies in the face of what this whole thread was created for.

At the risk of going on, the last subject that irked me was the intimation by KawCMH that we have a core ‘elite group’ here, a clique I think was the term used, what absolute rubbish, as far as I know we have no conversations where anyone is excluded, and that goes for the links too, accessible to all.

If I am to be banned for airing my views then so be it, I have fallen on my sword to say what many have thought.

Maybe we should take a leaf out of Exterminate Me’s book, nearly 600 posts and not a bad word about anyone.

Moderators; please note that this post is not a attempt to cause trouble, rather than calm the situation.

Erm ... you do know she's not in these, don't you? Just checking as I'd not like you to be disappointed by a lack of Peel-a-like character.

From what I understand the tone of these early lost stories are much darker, more serious, than the later Steed+Companion ones that tended to the more fantastical.

Oh no, she "seems" to be the second female lead in the next transformers Movie, top to bottom of the list delineates relevance.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) - Full Cast & Crew - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2109248/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast)

Oh, the female above Sophia is a child, I liked Nicola in Bates Motel, and she might be in her 20s, but she was playing a 16 year old character, and I have no idea how far off that she is in real life, since IMDB doesn't think that knowing that information is important.

A plan that was abandoned after the world just imploded, apparently. I walked away from that, most here have, and moved on. Why retread it now. Have to have your say, no matter how late to the party?

I am not trolling though, I mean it. I am proud of you guys, and you're gonna be fine.

I am not sure how my saying that would translate into my not being proud, but ok.

Oh, and you all should know more of the details. AFTER the thread was closed the first time, Goldie asked if I wanted to be on her pm list. (sure). She has not yet sent anything. SHE asked me to ask Jessie if we could reopen the thread. And she suggested, along with Jessie, some rules. THAT is how the discussion about rules got started. I thought it was going to be helpful. After the thread was closed a SECOND time, Goldie wrote me asking wtf I was doing, and got all mad at me for causing trouble. THEN, after you are doing fine, she strolls in and starts a fight, says she has shiny toys but you can't have 'em, and flaunts off. THAT is what I see happening, in between perfectly fine chat.

I do not know how much clearer I can be. I did not try to control anything, I responded to a request from a moderator. Simply that. But do, let's just keep bringing it up, only with the facts twisted. It's fun for all.

Hey, and just one thing, not really my business, but. No one is required to share their links, if they want to just share with select members so be it. That is the main use of the friends list, and groups thing after all. Fine. petty, but fine. But to come onto the thread and announce you have the new releases, but are butthurt and therefore will not post but only send to your friends via pm is sleazy. Slimy and childish. Just send the links. You don't have to come on here and make a general announcement about it. But hey. I never withhold a share ever. I have hundreds of members writing me daily right now for a couple of Varese links. MANY of them have no business pretending to like or care about me. But not one is turned away. None. None of you would be turned away. I believe in total sharing despite differences. But then, I'm a monster, soooo

Feel the BBC have missed a trick not having an Easter Special this year. Nice little special to introduce the new Doctor to us.

On the audio front - From what LC posted on their site the other day about future releases ....

Honestly surprised to see that there's even more Hex to come up after this current trilogy. I thought that the story was heading towards this run being his last.

As much as I like the character (saddled with a mediocre actor) it does feel like his story has been told and it's time to move on to someone else.

Still might be one, apparently, if they finish ep one in time. that's the buzz, anyway. That would, however, mean one less ep later in the year...

Kinda agree with your other observation. that last story was probably his best performance ever, would be nice if he'd left on a high note...

Agree with you Nobber and looshkin---with Hex and with the Edwardian Adventuress it's like the LC team can't bear to part with their own original characters. Still a little surprised that they are doing a whole series with the Adventuress. I like that 'Eridan Sith ended her run and has not been tempted back.

Just finished the last TV Sherlock.

I still don't "get it".

Even putting aside my general dislike for Freeman, it still utterly goes over my head why the series got so much praise.

And that's not to ruffle anyone's feathers, and maybe one day it'll click, but right now *shrug* I just really don't "get it".

Going to have to agree w/you, Nobber. The wife and I were excited as could when it was announced that SH would be back on the 1st of the new year. But, after watching (and yawning considerably) through Series 3's opener, "The Empty Hearse", something was decidedly off. I am not sure of what it was, but I think Tammy (wife) seemed to hit it on the head: Moffat tried to "normalize" Holmes. Sure, he did some of his quirky little traits, but overall, he felt different, not like the character was being portrayed in Series 1 and 2.

I dunno. She and I will probably watch the other 2 eps of the new series, but being a long time fan of ACD's character, I doubt I can commit to future episodes. :(

Well, they already did a couple of monthlies with Benny: 2 4-parters with Seven and Ace and a 1-parter with Eight in #123. Plus, there was the lovely adaptation of "Love and War" (I've still gotta read the original novel. Loved the audio, though). Maybe there's hope for more of that if they decide to take a break from Hex's story arc. Which reminds me, I'm honestly kinda glad that this year's trilogy with Five is just with the younger Nyssa. I feel like we needed a breather from the older Nyssa story arc, as much as I really love it.

Ok, asking some image-related help (see? I told you guys I wanted to get more involved in the forum this year!).. The wife has been helping me to get acquainted with Photoshop, so I can do some of photo manipulations and the like I've seen folks doing for a long time now. Still have a ways to go, but I think my latest (see below) is much better.

It's a tribute of sorts to my schnoodle, Molly, who passed 2 years (and I still miss her every day), and our new rescue, Fez (yes, named for *that* reason, i.e. "..fezes are cool.."), whom she never got to meet. I thought it would be awesome if the 8th Doctor had gone back in time to give Molly that opportunity to have met him.

That said, I thought it would be cool to continue that thought with what if the 4th Doctor had met my wife's 9 y.o. mini schnauzer Lily (if you met her, you would totally agree this is a funny/neat idea). However, after much scouring on the interwebs last night, I could not find decent screen cap to use of TomDoc in the TARDIS. It would need to show him standing, and would need to include his legs and feet. Companion is not necessarily deal breaker, but I was thinking Leela would be good to have in shot as she would probably have gotten along with Lily's personality.

Can anyone help me with an image/screen cap that fits that description? If not, it's all good. After last night's search, I am starting to think this may have been a bad idea..

Same here. As much as I love that particular combination, it's so hard to get away from Crowded Tardis syndrome. 5+N-Te-Tu really need something boxset so that each character can get decent air time without it feeling like they're hogging a particular month release.

I *sort of* agree with you, but IMHO it lost direction round about S10/11 and the move to boxset. Up to then it it was all getting pretty interesting and intense with what happens to Jason, the Collective, Brax etc etc.

Epoch and onwards feel to be reasonable standalone stories but less satisfying as an on going narrative.

I thought they were both excellent novels. She's actually one of my favourite DW novelists, along with Cartmel, Aaronovitch,
Boucher, Hinton, Parkin, Lloyd Rose, Mick Lewis, Cornell, Leonard, and Dicks. Interesting and innovative without tending to the ridiculous or trying to make DW something it's not.

A fair point. But I tend to live with a "forgive and forget" kinda attitude, unless the person who slighted me has caused me some severe emotional distress. For instance, there was this one IRC chatroom I used to be a part of. I took some time off from it because I was having oral surgery and needed to recover. While I was gone, one of the moderators (who didn't like me very much) began a rumor I was saying salacious things to some of the female users of the chatroom. Because I was so doped up on painkillers, I wasn't coherent enough to provide an adequate defense for myself so nearly everyone believed him. Heaven forbid someone question what a moderator says about a fellow user since he's in a higher position of authority, right?

Anyway, it got so bad that some of the people there somehow found my home phone number and decided to leave malicious messages on the answering machine that I should burn in hell and that I was a sicko and such. It was awful. I never went back to the site again even after I had fully recovered. It wasn't worth it. The pathetic thing is what had really happened. It turned out the moderator who started the rumors was the one saying those things to the female users and had one of his pals manipulate the chat logs so it looked like I did it so he'd have his ass covered. Sorry for going so off-topic, btw. I'll think I'll just sit and wait patiently for monthly #182 and Four's Adventures 3.01 now.

I'm honestly not 100% better. But through the generous contributions of some awesome Skype friends, I'm well on my way there. I've also been busying myself with some video projects for my YouTube channel. But anyway, thanks looshkin. I can't wait to hear this month's contributions to the mythos of the Medic from LC. :)

.

Just out of interest, Goldie, what is your motivation for sharing with the particular people you do and then deliberately making it clear that you are excluding others? If you don't want to share with all that is absolutely fine but this course of action does seem to needlessly poison the thread. What is the point?

I'm sure she is. I've appreciated her generosity in the past - it's helped me fill many happy hours.

But there's a world of difference between accepting something that someone offers to share, and tugging at their sleeve asking for a hand-out. If Goldie wants to share, I'd be delighted. I've been looking forward to Monarch Of ratnoS for a little while.

But if she wants to keep it Private, that's her choice and I respect that. And I'd ask the people posting to say that they've recieved it but have no intention of sharing to keep it similarly Private.

I don't really care about her "shared item" and as for making her feel appreciated - she has gotten plenty of appreciation in the past to a lavish degree far in excess of that which many other sharers have received. And yet it seems that is insufficient and now she wants to share only with approved people. Presumably, if I am judging your post correctly, only those people who have sufficiently praised her and stroked her ego. That is absolutely fine but it is completely against the former nature of this thread where stuff was shared openly to all. If that's how you want the thread to go then that's really sad.

With due respect to all forum members, I think we all take our turn - sharing those that can. Some are more generous than others, some occasionally find the odd gem and share when they can. It is always appreciated and we are always grateful. However, when those same people start calling this site a "shit tip" and generally displaying some genuine diva behaviour because what...they shared a couple of files with like minded souls? It gets ridiculous. These are scary times for the Shrine. As Del37 suggests, the shrine is currently heading in a direction I think nobody wants. Its a time to pull together and put egos and diva behaviour to one side.

If not, then THIS could potentially be my last share...he said ALMOST sounding like the divas he criticised! Oh the drama!!

The Chief of the Potatoheads for 24 hours only.

Again, not mine. A friend of the forum again gave this to me and added he was happy for it to be shared but didnt want his name attached. I think a month or so ago this individual would have shared this in an instant...but then the shrine is a very different place now...or is it?

Hahaha. Fair enough, man. I prefer to wear my geekiness on my sleeve. Sometimes literally. In fact, when I met Colin Baker last May, I was wearing this Doctor Who t-shirt my brother got me for Christmas the year before under my flannel shirt. It's styled like a typical college tee, but it has the Seal of Rassilon where the college's logo would be and where the college info usually goes it says "The High Council of the Time Lords". Colin had a look on his face when he saw my shirt like he was gonna say "I can tell who he came here to see..." XD

And I'd ask the people posting to say that they've recieved it but have no intention of sharing to keep it similarly Private.

Yes, that's the thing. Not sure why they are thanking her in the forum instead of via the method they were sent the links - ie PM. I'd hate to think they were showing off that they were amongst the preferred few, or that they had been, directly or indirectly, asked to post their thanks in the forum. That could be being petty, and maybe even vindictive.

Now do I personally want the item shared? Not particularly. It'll turn up somewhere, sometime. It's not like this is the only place items can be found, and I'm so far behind in hearing them it makes no difference to me at all. But I'm not going to thank someone for not sharing with me personally. If the choice is made to only share with a few, keep it to yourselves. Have some class.

edit: Oh and if 'showing appreciation' is the only way to get these items, quite simply. NO. I don't appreciate being manipulated like that. I don't appreciate seeing anyone manipulated like that. It's wrong. Simply wrong. And anyone doing that is wrong. Stand up for yourselves and show some pride. Items will always get shared and you don't have to pre-emptively 'show appreciation' to get them. There will always be someone else who can, and will, share them.

Does the image/screen cap have to be of him in the TARDIS? I'm fairly sure you could work with one set elsewhere and just 'shop it in. Sorry that I can't provide any images either way: I'm shockingly behind on my 4th medic.

Hmm.. Well, I was thinking the TARDIS and 4th Medic would be a good area for the PS work, but it could be anywhere I suppose. I really like like the look Leela had in "Image of the Fendahl", but it wouldn't necessarily have to be that particular episode.

It's weird. I thought it would be no trouble at all to find something like that, but I was able to find more of the New WHO screen caps, etc. than anything pre-2005. :disappointed:

That was quite an interesting story. I like the Potato-heads, they're one of the more interesting concepts for creatures. But oh, suddenly a justification for the war against the Amoeboids! That sounds like a justification from the Agency if ever I heard one. "Let them keep each other busy, and let the rest of the universe rest easy." Apart from the Pepperpots, the Metalpeople, warmongering humans, and all the rest of course.

But that climax! It's a good one. I'm not entirely on Savage's side, I think she should have given the Medic the chance to fix things. Still, it lead to an interesting ending. Now I want to see if she eases up a bit in the future.

Side note: It would have been cool if the Medic had softened up the Potatoheads enough to lead to a renegade 'good' faction. Maybe even leading to some kind of civil war. Perhaps the Medic would have to intervene to stop the Amoeboids just rolling over them while their attention was diverted.

Oh dear. As if I didn't have enough writing projects on the go. I've gone and given myself ideas. Grr, arrgh.

I frickin' love Doctor Who. I get giddy waiting for new episodes, and even when watching old ones for the first time, or favourites once again. I love how big the world is, how there's room for so many ways of thinking about things. I love the continuity and the theories and the headcanon and the shitty sfx and the awesome ones too and the intrusive or subtle or slightly strange incidental music and the actors and the characters and the scenery-chewing and the nuanced performances and the cringe-moments and the perfect bons mots and the shocking revelations and the promised explosions that turn out to fizzle as whimpers. Even the things I hate have some aspect to recommend them.
Doctor Who is just pretty darn schwie :)

I personally feel if you are gonna share, then just share. I don't play favorites. There ARE instances where the pm system is needed. Like with varese sarabande and FSM releases which are restricted from being openly posted. Then PM is the only way, but I have never said no to any request I was able to fill regardless of which member asked. If you only want to share with a select circle that is your right, but coming into the open thread to announce that you are doing so, and then editing your post? That's just weird. As is openly thanking for the private pm. But hey, whatever.

Please, please, please, don't start again.

Goldie wants to share with her friends and acquaitances (which I'm not, by the way wink wink), I don't care, and neither should you. Uploads will appear for everyone eventually, cause that's the way some of us still regard this thread: as an open and friendly place, full of whovians and/or wholigans, eager to get - and to share - more adventures of our favorite Thyme-Lard.

If you're not happy with her behaviour, well... one said the opposite of "love" isn't "hate", but "indifference". So I think we should stick with that. "La bave du crapaud n'atteint pas le sage". Don't pay it any attention. Just let it flow. Keep calm and carry on.

So, Medic What, then... Does anybody got Monthly Mag #466 and 467? :D

Nobody is arguing against the PMing links (most of us have done it at some point - myself included). The difference is we've never rubbed it in people's faces and if other people ask for the links they usually got them if at all possible. Like you, I've never refused a request, if I can help anyone I will.

And if you had wanted to 'hang and be silly' before all the bother started last month, then yes we would probably have welcomed you. Unfortunately, now, not so much I think.

Yep! That's why I even love Timelash, or, more topically, Colin in Enemy of the World. So... fantastically... naff, that they're great.

And with that, to bed - probably no sleep, what with the heatwave and all, but bed all the same...

If I was Jenna! Wow, I'd be having fun with myself there!!!

It is a design feature of a dalek that it can neither touch nor shoot itself. It can only perform these functions unto others. Evidently, Davros intended for these to be the universe's most social creatures.

I like the fact that every time they change one of the regular cast, it makes the evening news. That just doesn't happen with any other show!

Sounds like you're getting the weather we've just had - it got to nearly 44 degrees celcius one day (I took my thermometer outside and it read 50 degrees celcius - that's 120 f!!!) and "dropped" to around 30 degrees celcius overnight. We've another heatwave due this coming weekend.

You're welcome to the hot weather.

I thought year 1 was better than year 2 which is a real shame as I loved Mary Tamm as Romana and her swansong involved convoluted nonsense about the Laan and David Warner's pantomime villain.

Having said that LC set the bench mark incredibly high with "F#o#e From The F#u#t#u#r#e" which for my money is the best Who audio of them all from start to finish...

I pretty much agree with you. Still to hear Foe though, but might have a listen some time this week (there really is plenty to listen to!).

Fully agreed. It was so great to hear Mary, but, wow, that was a terrible story. And normally I'm a massive fan of Warner but someone really must have put some high-camp into tea as I'm sure I could hear the moustache being twirled and the scenery being chewed. (The latter being a very neat trick on an audio release ...)

Does the image/screen cap have to be of him in the TARDIS? I'm fairly sure you could work with one set elsewhere and just 'shop it in. Sorry that I can't provide any images either way: I'm shockingly behind on my 4th medic.

Sash if you think of a time in an episode you would like capped just let me know and I will do it for you.

I share with who I want

That is absolutely fine, Goldie, if you don't want to share with all for fear of someone you don't like benefiting then that's your affair. It's just the way in which you've gone about it that seems needlessly antagonistic. To point out that you have not shared with some people, I'm guessing so that they feel the sting of the punishment, was always going to cause problems. Why not share privately via pm and request no acknowledgement to be given openly? Is there a reason why you didn't do that? Were there conditions set for your sharing? I've shared before both with and without acknowledgement and I've never considered the sharing to be a weapon to be used against enemies (not that I have any on here, I think)

Seems like some people have a short memory. It wasn't all that long ago that you were begging for plenty of audios that other people had paid for. In fact it was because of your constant demands (usually minutes after the audio had been released) that stopped other regular sharers to stop; simply because they were so sick of your shit.

If you read Amanda's posts properly, she hasn't turned against you; she just doesn't agree with the mentality towards sharing you are now showing. You're right that nobody can force you to share what you don't want to - but you know what, you can take your shares and shove 'em right where the sun don't shine. We managed perfectly well before you arrived (for the first time anyway), and we will manage perfectly well, or better, once you have gone.

We've lost count of how many times you've threatened (or promised, depending on your point of view) to leave and never come back and I'm sure there'll be no shortage of people offering to hold the door open for you when you leave. Goodbye. FULL STOP.

I think the likes of kitchen doors in restaurants still do it, depending on the hinge arrangement. They have to be able to open and close from either direction to make life easier for the waiters and such.

On topic, the point of this thread is sharing openly with the entire forum, not posting just to say you are sharing with certain people and not others - that is incredibly immature. In the very likely event that is not the last time we see her, I suggest that Goldie really look at her more recent posts and how people TOTALLY in the dark on her personal issues with some people in the forum are taking the stance of "I will share with who I want, make sure everyone knows I am doing it, but not share with them - to make a point.".
