Not sure what's going on with the mp3 version. I've downloaded it again from the Large Conclusions site and re-uploaded it. If there is still any issues then it must be from the LC site itself. I listen to the audiobook versions so I haven't tried the MP3 version. Sorry for any frustrations caused.

4th medic new epi. in mp3 I've found will not DL or come out of rar for Part 1 Track 4, Part 2 Track 7, Part 3 Track 2, whereas Part 3Track 6 is ok.

When SS finally allows it I'll attempt to DL the epi in m4b which I've read is presumedly ok. Hope so.

It's more than likely at S'space's end. It's one of those sites that used to be great, but has recently started being a PITA. Like 2hrd it's become one of those "why the heck does it work for person A but not person B" sites.

I used it earlier to grab the N.Time post and had to kill off about two-dozen pop-ups over the space of two files. Very handy site, but even with AdBlock it's still a PITA when it feels like it.

The one I've got on CD is Baker. I have just looked it up on Amazon and there's an out of stock one with Wills narration, but going on Who Shop shows they only have the Baker one. So, in conclusion, your guess is as good as mine.

Thanks del37. You know I DLed this once before, but I thought it was just a bbc reading rather a limited dramatization like the CC's from Large Conclusions. Instead it's a virtual LC reading with just very spotty dialog between 2 actors. A very well done mostly read with good use of SFX, but still just mostly a read. Guess the LC folks are just trying to save quid, now that they're doing more full cast dramas which I heartly support.

Nothing to do with LC saving money as A-Go paid for it.

The whole 'Destiny' series is, AFIAK, a CC series by any-other name.

IMHO A-Go will continue to do 'CC''s under their banner (some by LC, some by others) when LC wind the range down. This series is a way of introducing the idea to A-Go buyers that normally get the novelization audio books or the audio-exclusives.

Levene has been living in Los Angeles since at least the early 90s, which I think is what made him unavailable. He's recently moved back to Britain. Incidentally, he's also insane. Not necessarily in the fun way - just insane. That explains the pirate host tizzy. Some banned all of his works. it's tough to appropriately praise the insane.

Personally, I'd like to see an older actor play the doctor next but for gods sake keep him a brit when it happens.

While I'm not a brit myself, I simply cannot imagine anyone BUT a brit as the Doctor. I'd agree with having an older actor as well but not sure it's very likely with the TV market being what it is. I'm very much a classic fan and although I love the new series, I can't help but wonder when the Doctor will finally come off his caffein rush. I think that's probably why I still find 7th the best (please put your dalek guns away!!!). Calculating, humorous and absolutely brilliant. Stories like Rememberance, Silver Nemesis, Battlefield and the Curse of Fenric really put the mystery back in the series... Too bad Sylvester's stay was short lived. IMHO he had many great stories left in him and the road the series was on would have been well Worth the ride!

I wouldn't mind a non British actor playing the Doctor again. I think a lot of people forget that Sylvester McCoy and David Tennant were Scottish rather than British. In any case, I'd like a quieter, thoughtful Doctor next time. I love the 10th and 11th Doctors, but it's time for a bit of a change.

Considering how focused BBC shows are in Wales these days, especially Doctor Who, I'm a bit surprised they haven't gone that route already. How about a Welsh one? Rhod Gilbert could be fun ... apart from the fact I don't think he can act ...

He could surprise everyone given a chance - just look at Catherine Tate. Can't stand her as a comic, but I think she's been the best companion of the nuWho so far.

I can't honestly see the beeb cast an older actor as the doc but the way the actors keep getting younger, the doc will be a teenager within a couple of regenerations.

@samfett: I have them as mp3 files if that's any good to you.

Not necessarily - he was looking for someone older last time, but was so blown away by Matt's auditions that he changed his mind. I'd say he may still be looking for someone in their 40s next time, at least initially...

Ben Whishaw would be good, if he didn't look quite so much like Smith. I reckon there's an alternate universe somewhere where Whishaw is well into his run as the 11th medic, and Matt Smith has just finished appearing in The Hour and the latest James Bond film as Q... ;)

Eddie Izzard is comic who can act, and is in his 40s - I think he'd do a good job...

I'm not gonna beat around the bush & I'll get straight to the point
I have received warnings from all the different file hosts & a cease & desist request direct from the Large Conclusion chappies in relation to ALL my files relating to Large Conclusions Blake series

As this has come from the appropriate copyright holders I have no problem complying with their request to remove all the links from any site. I have been given 48 hours.

Please note that once I have removed them I will not be able to re up them at any future date. Sorry guys but I just cant ignore the request- thanks for your understanding

Is the secret place the forum that got sent round last year?

People keep mentioning this. If you type in "the secret kingdom" in search here, you will find a old thread that started last year or two. It was used only to test uploads - that it wasn't the site, but a hacker. And they got us there too, so gave up. Pretty sad that something no longer used is still being rumoured about. Oh well.

I really don't think these files are being tracked by being posted here. Most of the files have their filename changed, but the actual ID tags are being are being left unchanged.

Stinkor
02-15-2013, 02:30 AM
Just a suggestion, if that's the case: there's a free program called mp3tag which allows you to see all the ID3 information encoded on your mp3s and change it. You can easily remove tags that way. It's also, incidentally, a great batch-tagger and a good way to add image files into the .mp3s themselves.

@Foefromthefuture: Possible. In fact we have this panic every couple of months, but I honestly don't think so. With everything I've posted, I think I'd have had a C&D notice myself if anyone was spying; and then there's Bulletzen uploading the new audios every month.

If it helps, when they contact you they do mention the name that you have given to the file and an identification code that the file has embedded within it. So I'm guessing they found it by the id code.

People keep mentioning this. If you type in "the secret kingdom" in search here, you will find a old thread that started last year or two. It was used only to test uploads - that it wasn't the site, but a hacker. And they got us there too, so gave up. Pretty sad that something no longer used is still being rumoured about. Oh well.

Erm, I asked a question. How about a little less judgement and attitude? I was talking about this one, I assume this is fake then?

No it's not fake. It was set up a couple of months ago when ffshrine ran into problems and they announced that they may have to close to give us somewhere else to go, just in case.

Don't know about disabling it, but I edit all the files I upload here; merge them into 1 file, cut out the extras etc and then save them with a different filename to the original. Just altering the actual album name might work as well.

Depends on your rip software, I suppose.

But you're probably better off getting an ID3Tag remover and running that on a copy of the files. As long as the file names are decent (like CD1-Track01.mp3) then people shouldn't have too much trouble importing them into their players.

for windows based machines, you go into media player options, if thats what you are using, and uncheck the the box that says "connect to the internet", that way it does not download the digital ID of the disk/file. when you have your file, right click on it, go to properties, then select details. at the bottom of the box it says "remove all properties and personal information" , do that and call the file file what ever you want, and it wont be idenified by its digital fingerprint online by other machines.

your answers:
1 - yes i believe so
2 - there was approx 4 mins of some fairly pointless interviews
and the trailer for the next one.

really it should have been a 2cd release - -i think it's 6 eps - 1 adventure spread across 2 releases

Those three very short episodes really didn't work as a format. The pacing felt really strange at times. And, as you say, it's looking like this-one + next-month really should have been a 2CD release.

Agreed! I'm really not a fan of the new regeneration scenes. The fact that a particularly difficult regeneration could incapacitate a TARDIS still doesn't sit right with me. In the classic series, regenerations were rough for the Medic but he always had his companions by his side. In the aborted regeneration in the Lost planets episode you have Capt Jack practically hide behind the console with his buddies for fear of... what exactly? I particularly like the regens when you have a nice little recap of the Medic's adventures with a cameo by companions and enemies... Well that's just an opinion :)

Just as long as they don't try and 'update' the regeneration scene and add lots of blasting shiney-gold-particles shooting from him.

Oh dear Nobber, you've given me the most disturbing thought: Medic What 50th Anniversary Special... in 3D, now featuring flashbacks to the Medic's first eight regenerations newly "re-imagined" with CG and golden regeneration energy for every-body!

FOURTH MEDIC falls from radio telescope tower and hits the ground with new 7.1 channel thump.

FOURTH MEDIC: It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for...

CG sequence: FOURTH MEDIC stands up, gathers his scarf, kicks halfheartedly at a clump of grass, throws on his hat, whips out his SIDRAT key and enters vast new console room, now with 100% more coral! FOURTH MEDIC stands in front of console, clears throat, leans back, leans forward again and mutters that he doesn't like the CG set very much and this is still the Mot Baker show, you know, leans back again and is engulfed by golden regeneration energy as the director breathes a sigh of relief.

/repeat for other seven regenerations and whimper quietly into your hands and try not to bite through an artery if at all possible ;-)

Nobber
02-16-2013, 04:12 PM
In fairness to the last regen it was a good excuse to blow-up the console room when they redesigned it for HD transmission.

And, I suppose, you could argue it takes more energy each regen in a similar way it takes more and more to fully recharge a battery as it gets older.

Or something!

:)

quitefrequently
02-16-2013, 04:38 PM
That's an interesting observation about increasing regeneration energy, Nobber, especially considering the classic-era twelve regeneration limit. Oh and yes, it was a great excuse. I never warmed to the coral "desktop theme" and I think Eleven's first console room was simply gorgeous and I'm sad to see it go.

Don't know why people get so annoyed about the animation not being perfect.... it's more than other old archive TV show with missing episodes get! Cheap animation is a luxury really when you think about it.

The "Why" is easy - there's very little excuse these days NOT to animation that's superior to what was on RoT. You only have to look on YouTube to see what 'amateurs' can do with simple packages like Poser, Daz3D and iClone so, personally, I'd expect a damn sight more from Professional companies. Correct LipSync for a start. And if you're not going to do it in a matching B&W then do it in full-colour not a washed out sepia.

And there's the stylistic approach that doesn't even match the directorial methods of the other episodes. At least with the 'The Invasion' animation it matched the TV style very well and, AFAIR, there's no scenes that have been animated in a way that couldn't have been easily filmed at the time. It fitted the genre far better than RoT's did.

davros001
02-16-2013, 11:48 PM
I'd say we as fans are getting something for nothing with the animations so far as the DVDs would sell in the same quantities whether animated missing eps or not. What I would like to see however is a fully missing story animated, now that would be something and mor cost effective for the makers. I do prefer the first animation though with the silver giants to the more recent, but , and without trying to be a git if you don't like the animations then don't watch. The soundtracks have served for many years now . But IMO I'd rather have something to watch however good or bad it is. I only hope that as they do more they get better.

Nobber
02-17-2013, 01:26 AM
Not really "something for nothing" if you've paid for it.

If the BBC had just transmitted it (or released it as a web downloaded) then, yeah, I could sort-of agree with you. But having paid for a copy (after, ah-hem, 'acquiring' one to see what it was like. 8/10 if I ignore the animation) then I think constructive criticism is perfectly valid.

Put it this way; I certainly wouldn't purchase complete story recon if the animation was of this standard.

Thankfully most of the 'negative' comments I've read generally seem to come from a genuine feeling of frustration and disappointment in the (and I use the phrase loosely) 'sloppy' direction and it not feeling like it 'fits' with the rest. So, hopefully, they'll all be taken with the feeling of constructive feedback I believe that most people want to give.

EDIT TO ADD - Please be ensured the above is not intended to be confrontational.

I really enjoyed the actual story, though these days (and seeing it more-or-less back-to-back doesn't help) it obvious that there wasn't quite enough story to really fill that many episodes. It's a shame that the series rarely does a proper 'historical' these days without having The Alien Of The Week turn-up.

davros001
02-17-2013, 01:59 AM
Nothing wrong with being confrontational, without being disrespectful the the recent arrivals you Nobber are one of the old guard on ffs and I think I know you mean well regarding our hero. My something for nothing remark was simply that I'd have bought the DVD anyway with say telesnap recon or going back to the Martion video, a cd of the missing eps soundtrack. So getting the animation was just an added extra for me, I agree the quality was nowhere near as good as the first batch but I'd rather this than only soundtrack, and hope in the future they do more of these. I do feal that I've watched the episodes now although it could never be as good as the real thing, in my mind its a close second
