Pick these up the other day. Some reprints from the 1950's era of horror tales (Tales From The Crypt, etc) before the comics code came in. Check out the last issue of Tales (in Vol #5) that had little distribution and a double take with a final "We've Had It" letter at front followed by the Crypt Keepers announcement (drawn before the letter) of combining the EC horror issues into one as a last chance at survival. All a part of our history.

I just played this one on my phone with headphones, with a 1080 rip muted once I got it synced. Which may sound complicated, but it was surprisingly easy. Just get them close to the same point, and quickly pause/un-pause on the one that's ahead of the other, till they line up. Really it, took me a couple minutes max. (I had considered marrying the audio to a higher def version, but this ended up to be easier and sounded phenomenal.) Rap on wood quietly to gain admission.

Also, I quite liked this one. Shaping up to be quite the season so far. I'm also just a huge fan of of binaural 3d sound. Ever since The Mist by King, which was originally only available on audio cassette! The 2015 binaural radio productions of "The Ring" & "The Stone Tape" by aunty are also quite exceptional.

I was fortunate enough to have someone send me a link to a streamed version of the binaural ep and, sadly - perhaps it was a by-product of it being streamed - it didn't seem any better than average stereo (yes, I wore headphones).

I'll try it again this weekend with a DL version, as I could tell that the episode did try to stage sounds from all angles (creaking floors, music from upstairs, knocks behind and around you...).

Still, I'd like to watch Suchet's performance again anyway.

Have to say I really love the clever codes and what people come up with. The latest is inspired!

For anyone who downloaded either of the earliest 9 box sets that were posted on various sites, you probably want to get the later version that was posted on the dock of the bay.

It turns out that the first two versions of this that made its way to our various sites both had very crucial chunks missing from the endings of not just the first story, but all of them! It's very clear in the first and third. But it's not so clear in the second. (I thought I might have missed something, but wasn't sure at first.) I haven't listened to the last one yet, but it's also missing some time as well. Strangely, in all three cases I've listened to, the part cut out is pretty much when the enemy is defeated, which is quite a coincidence. It seems likely that someone was deliberately messing with us there. The later version of the set is complete.

Been enjoying Catweazle again. I had thought I would be cringing at the corny plots and such, but if taken as a 70's boys own adventure, it's actually quite good. And I see Kindle have re-released the book of the TV series.
Seem to remember season 2 as a bit more cornball, but still enjoyable enough. All on YT if you want to watch it and remember this great actor (filmed the series when Geoffrey was 45 - 47 years, amazing acting). He would have made a interesting Doctor (as LC Unbound showed).

I can explain why the rule makes sense. Yes the titles are openly on view on ABB and that will draw attention to ABB and the sharers on there who may take some legal heat because of it. By using names openly on here, you draw attention to here and cause problems for people who share on here. So anything that avoids attention here is a good thing.

I'm really loving this series. I haven't really enjoyed the show as much from Series 7 onwards, so it's good that things look good again. This time the break seems to have done the show a favour. Next episode looks good too.

I didn't hear any of that in the trailer on the LC website. But the thing that has me giddy is the story with the Frozen Water Battlers. They're one of my fave creatures, and to have Ten facing them on audio makes me so giddy.

Well let's see ...... it is either set between New Earth and School Reunion..... or..after the Age of Steel and Fear Her.
now depending on how chummy they act i'm more inclined toward the latter as the first period they had yer to meet Sarah Jane; and travel with Mickey also this is the season where there are Torchwood references .... maybe it'll be set before Tooth and Claw?

But torrents and torrent sites are VERY different beasts from posts on public forums or post that people put up on download sites. We've already seen LC get posts that were linked to here taken down, and users banned from other sites because of posts here. We've had the people who post here ask the users to try to keep the names of what they post coded so that they don't turn up in search engines. It will also keep this group more low-key, which is important since it's on a public site that none of us actually own, and which can quickly and easily shut this group down for any reason they choose.

No one else here has any problems showing them that minimal level of respect, by agreeing to their wishes. THEY are the ones taking all of the risk here, not you. It doesn't matter if YOU feel that there is a point. The people who post here -- which is the reason we're all here, after all -- have asked you to. That should be enough. It's called common decency. And it's called respect. And it's good enough for literally everyone else here, except for you.

So, basically, you've decided that you are going to do whatever you want, no matter how much the regulars here ask you not to do so. That you know full well that posting the names here puts the people who post links here in greater jeopardy, and you just don't care. That even though the people who've posted the files you enjoy here have specifically tried to keep things a little less easily searchable for their own good and all of ours, and have specifically asked you NOT to post the names of what they are posting, that you are going to ignore all of that and disrespect the service that they're doing for all of us. At this point I'd advise anyone thinking of sharing anything on this thread not to bother. It's simply not worth it.

That "I'll do want I want, say what I want, and the rules be damned" attitude is one of the main reasons why so many who used to share regularly on this forum have stopped. Yes, LC's increased attention to this page and the backlash it has caused probably played a part for some, but most stopped visiting and posting here because, let's face it, this site has gotten to be a somewhat unpleasant place over the last year or so. There has been a complete disregard for civility or even general respect for others by certain individuals on this site for quite awhile now. If someone's not willing to play by the rules just because they think it's stupid then please feel free to become one of the unspoken leechers who regularly peruse the sight, take what they want with nary a post, and stay in the shadows unheard from. Or better yet leave altogether.

I read that it is confirmed that missy is leaving with everyone else at the end of the season. I am glad. I didn't like her character that much.
I thought the last episode was really good. The season in general has been very good.

Honestly I've never understood the problem with that character being female. As long as they're played by a good/interesting performer in a story worthy of their talents is enough for me. And I've liked that particular performer for a while.

I am of two minds (and hearts) about Mizzy.

First; I thoroughly enjoy her bat$hit insane, maniacal mayhem.
As a character (and actor) she's fantastic.
Sure, she can go over the top (even beyond the "over-the-topness" one would want from a Mazter, but whatchagonna do.
Wimmen, amiright? (he said covering his crotch and eyes)

(Personally, I thought that Simms was a mis-cast as the Mazter. I couldn't wait for him to go and kinda dread his return here.
I agree that Jacobi would be AMAZING should he have been allowed to keep the role.
But alas, I long for a "classic Mazter".)

I don't even mind that the Mazter, of all people, would transmography into a female.
He's a bent maniac and who KNOWS what he did to achieve that (even if it was in keeping with the original theory that a cross-gender regen was only due to suicide).

However, my other mind hates that Moff forced that change (and the General AND the mention of the Corsair) because now we have everyone clamoring for a fem-Medic.

THAT would be good for a few stories (as I'll explain) but would be horrible in the long run (the same as if it were a POC - and I'll explain THAT too)...
Going FORWARD in time (and on other worlds) would hopefully showcase a more liberal and broadminded state of acceptance of women and POC and LGBQT people.
I hope that the future IS that inclusive and accepting.

However, traveling into the PAST on Earth, as a woman or POC or LGBQT person would only hinder the Medic and cause story hurdles (which might make for a good story arc!) but in the long run would just cause problems.
Does that mean that women, POC and LGBQT people in the past didn't exist? OR that their struggles weren't worth portrayal?
No. Of course not.

However, for the story structure, I think that would be a role best left to OUR representative; the companion.

I tend to mask the stuff I pass on in plain sight. nobody has ever complained before. I like to be sensible.

I'm not saying we all abandon this place. Be here if you wish amongst friends. But it's up to you to decide if you keep sharing here. I personally will not. My books are brought from my money, not grabbed randomly from any other site. I just don't feel comfortable sharing here anymore. They will still be shared at 'the other place' from now on, so most won't miss out. Grab from there, chat here when able.

I have treated everyone with the up most respect. Even when I made a stupid comment recently, I saw my error and immediately apologised. I treat others as I'd like people to treat me. Simple as.

A final word regarding troll behaviour...
Do NOT feed the trolls. Do not respond. Do not correct. Do not reply. Don't do anything. They only exist from your attempt to correct and convince them. They LOVE it when someone tries to, as it is the only form of communication they have. They LOVE being noticed that way. They LOVE it when they can do whatever they want, just to annoy others. It is their drug, their passion. The thing that keeps them alive.

Hi guys! another random thought, I was rewatching inside the pepperpot and am i the only one who thinks the pathweb ie the new name for the pepperpots battle computer network is rather a fanciful name for a race of near emotionless killing machines? and the fact that there is a little machine in the pots that surpress emotions?!? are they suddenly men of cyber?! what happened to the tampering their chairbound creater did supposedly removing the emotions expect hate and the need to survive. While i love the new medic I feel that sometimes the writers don't do their research or they just don'y care and make up any old crap.

I think what's happening here is really quite sad. I don't share much as I don't have the money but I do from time to time request a title or download and thank the downloader. This place has often been a breath of live after a terrible week/month/year at work and I'm sorry to see that break apart.

So, I was just watching "GlRL WH0 DlED" (because I skipped it during a recent mini-marathon of 12's episodes, and saw that "Odin" swore that he would return.
Well... we haven't seen that return as of yet.

Knowing how Moff loves the long-game, I figured that since he helped pen that story, he'd be sure to keep that character's vow.

Yes they are reasonable assumptions, HOWEVER is there the possibility that it was just part of the costume storage? that could explain why you saw what you saw, and what was seen may not have been specific to the current season?

Many used Doctor Strange's Sanctum as a place to hide (it was disguised as a broken down husk of a building, to better fool the authorities into thinking it was abandoned. Until eventually, they beat the enemy and returned to the light.)

Anyway, we too.. when the dust has settled and the enemy is beaten, or simply gets bored, we too can return to the light.

I especially recommend it if you have an appreciation for a bit of black comedy mixed with intense action.

This is an exercise in empathy, in putting up a link of a file you personally have uploaded and that you personally are taking a risk by doing. Then you may, just may, get a sense of why people like to keep things under the radar. And yes I know you're going to say that the rules are dumb and the entire title of the thread gives the game away but we come back to that empathy word again, it makes uploaders feel happier if you take some precautions. It may be dumb, it may to you seem nonsensical but, y'know what,, forget that. Try thinking about people's feelings. What do you think?

This is an exercise in empathy, in putting up a link of a file you personally have uploaded and that you personally are taking a risk by doing. That's not going to fly, sadly. As Jawa says Waterboat is an avatar of a poster who, in all their guises, has eventually caused massive disruption. It's what they do, it's their thing, it's how they get their entertainment on what I'm guessing are long, lonely nights. BTW, in case you're wondering, Waterboat has the habit of saying the most appalling things and then editing them out of their posts shortly after. It makes the responses look over the top compared to the original message. I'd advise quoting them every time so the original can still be seen by everyone and they can be judged accordingly.

Yes he does seem to like spewing his bile, then editing it out later. I DID consider quoting last night as you said Del, but to be honest I was so sickened and disgusted by his complete lack of human sympathy and empathy, I just felt as I stated, nothing but pity for what can only be such a wretched existence to be able to cause a human being to be so vile. He is almost beyond pity to be honest, and left untreated and diagnosed, a person with that kind of social disorder could actually be a real clear and present danger to others.
A friend of mine is a therapist and I had lunch with him today, I showed him the screen grabs and told him a of the recent history of his posts. I handed my phone over and let him read a few pages of this thread.

You are right webs. I admit I resisted the ignore button before out of some morbid fascination of seeing how far he would go, but ultimately I was giving him a little piece of power over me. As others have said, there is no point, he is beyond help and beyond reasoning with. Time to throw out the rubbish and move on.

Yeah. This is the most I've enjoyed it for a while. Personally, I was glad to see the back of JLC; she really out-stayed her welcome and she seemed to overshadow the Doc. Glad it's got back to the normal 'Doc showing his companion around the universe' instead of it being the other way around. I just hope that Bill doesn't turn out to be all important to the fate of the universe ;)

Couldn't agree more. Cl@ra never worked as a companion for me - from unknowable mystery element in Series 7 to cocky know-it-all in Series 8 and 9, she just dragged down too many episodes. B!ll is a breath of fresh air in that she's confident enough to respect the Medic's experience and ask sensible questions. And she's fun!

Really surprised how much I'm enjoying N@rdole too. I hear his character and motives get investigated more in tonight's episode and its follow-up parts.

I too have been very pleasantly surprised by this current series so far. Hope that trend continues.

Could I, too, get an invite to this other place? I don't speak much in this thread, but I lurk a bit and appreciate all the work everyone puts into this.

finally caught up now. some really good stories there. enjoying them all. I've been a big fan of PC's since hes started though.

Just out of interest what do other people think of season long story arcs? I'm not a great fan I must admit. I like the defeat the monster one week and go defeat something different next week stories.

Just my humble opinion.

I prefer it if the ones in Who are done with a light touch though. This seasons been ok with that so far

I like them, but I don't think they've worked all that well in DW so far. Apart from the story that re-introduced Davros, I think they've all seemed forced and been done a little ham-fisted.

I've liked PC since his stint in CoE and Fires of Pompeii. Not seen him in much before but I'd heard of him.

For me the series long story arcs have been the biggest detriment to NuWho. There have been times where they've been so focused on advancing the overall arc that the individual stories suffered because of it. I prefer the old way better, smaller occasional story arcs but with most episodes as stand alones.

I like the story arcs if they actually commit to it instead of just tacking a reference onto an episode in such a way that seems out of place. Otherwise they end up like K2T in the classic series. A bunch of obstensibly linked stories but really just a bunch of fascinating standalones with a tacked on fetch-quest and a muddled conclusion. When there's a clear purpose and everything pieces together in a satisfying way in the end then it works. But then again I've rarely been satisfied with the various arc conclusions except maybe in s7 although most of my misgivings are character-based rather than plot-based.

It's pretty much how I feel about the x files mythology arcs. I used to love them early on in the series but it became clear TPTB had no idea what direction they were taking the arc so much prefer the standalones now.

Small arcs of 2-3 episodes I can live with but season long ones when done wrong can end up like the trial season. A bit of a mess.

It's a tightrope to walk, balancing between a long arc and maintaining each individual chapter to be its own entity.
Not many can do it - especially if each ep is written by different writers.
THAT's where the showrunner earns their lettuce.

That said, I think this series/season is doing it fairly well.

There are definite elements and teasers to the season arc as a whole within each ep (IF you want to look for them) and yet each ep stands strong alone (should you not want to hunt for easter eggs).

THIS week's ep (the 1st of the "trilogy") is a LITTLE less strong because it IS just the first leg of the mini-arc, yet it does carry along from last week - and the week's before.

Now, HERE's where I slip into *spoiler* (read: total guess-work) mode, so feel free to join me under the hood if you'd like as I ramble with some barely joined thoughts:


So, Since We KNOW that the Monday-sian Cyborgs are the final big bad (with multiple Mazters thrown in for bad measure) it's pretty easy to reverse-engineer each eps clues.

1) The concept of "escaping" home in the first ep, mirrors the needs of the Cybers as their world was dying.

2) SMILE was all about robots and trying to adapt to a world where their are two primary life-forms who lay claim to it.

3) OK, the ICE just seemed like a nod to the cold environs of the early Cyber eps.

4) Knock x2 was about what lengths you'd go to saving those who brought you into this world (which will be a payoff for how Bill and #12 each leave the season - I'll explain later.

5) There's NO way anyone can tell me Oxygen wasn't hinting at dead, robotic outer shells being filled with dead, human stuffing as a twisted nod to Cybers.

6) And now... take ONE look at the Monks when they speak. Mouths open. Words pour out with no lip movement.
What does THAT look like? Yup. A Mondaz Cyber!
Especially as they were in a computer simulation (more tech!) then the monk imagery could very well be a new "skin" for the avatar.
Plus, what do you think the innards of a MondaCyber looked like? I'd guess pretty much what a "monk" looked like.

Now, we know that there are dangling plot lines from last season as well as ones from this season's early eps.

Mizzy had a "great idea" when we last saw her with the Peppots.
Well... she's enough of a 6-dimensional chess player that I won't try to guess it all, but she did have it while running around from Dleks.
Simms obviously has something to do with it, and perhaps other incarnations (Jacobi was hinted at, as was a look-alike stand-in for Delgado), but whether or not they were part of the plan is yet to be seen.

We know there will be multiple versions of the Cybers, so the theme of multiple incarnations is rife around the season (because we ALSO know that there's an appearance of Bradley's stand-in Dr.) SO... we might ALSO get an appearance by #11 and his fez, since this is MOFFs goodbye as well - sort of a "the gangs alll here" kind of farewell.

Anyway, the monks are really the Cybers testing the way to invade.
We'll get a return appearance from ODIN (and his race of armor-wearing invaders), which will bring back C.O and "Me" for their final bow.

And as a fond farewell, because otherwise she'd probably get killed off - along will come the starry-eyed girl to whisk Bill away.
(I'm not giving up the idea that there'll be a Bill's mum story in there somewhere. See #4 above)

#12 and #1 go off to save their homeworld (as shown already in "Time of...", but this is the series where that is finally slotted to occur).

P.C. will have a traumatic regen (now... he used some of a future incarnation's energy for a brief return of sight - BUT that was only in the simulation [so... a red herring at the traumatic regen by Moff? - OR a hint that he'll actually TRY something like that]
The question is; as shown with Daveross, why couldn't #12 just use a little amount of personal regen-ergy to fix his eyes?
Maybe he's leery of using that trick since then?
Perhaps that's where Mizzy's plan comes into play - because #12 DID in fact use his regen-ergy to resurrect dead Peppots, so maybe that energy is used against him?
No idea.
BUT.... either way, he has a rough go at it...
and we'll have #13 for Christmas.

The vault has seemed less like an ongoing story arc & more just a teaser for a future episode tacked on at the end of each week. The problem being that it's been, pretty much, the same teaser every time. But it definitely does it's job - wherever you look, it's is the subject of more interest, discussion & excitement than any other aspect of the series, so far.

Actually, scratch that - who'll be the new Doctor is probably generating more interest but people are still talking about the vault. I am, apparently, talking bollocks!

It would seem that Warner has become the definitive version of the Unwound Medic. For some reason I've enjoyed this combo more than any of the Benny and 7 stories, not that those were all bad, but this dynamic just seems to have a certain chemistry that really sparks.

Reminds me, I haven't listened to the last series yet. Something to do at the weekend...

Back home from Birmingham, went to see Iron Maiden on Sunday night... cracking night it was too! So more Mr.Warner and Benny... cant wait! last set was very entertaining!

Never really got into Iron Maiden but glad you enjoyed it.

It would seem that Warner has become the definitive version of the Unwound Medic. For some reason I've enjoyed this combo more than any of the Benny and 7 stories, not that those were all bad, but this dynamic just seems to have a certain chemistry that really sparks.

It certainly helps that Warner is, by most people's reckoning, a great (or at least near-great) actor with serious chops - this is a man who played Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company at age 24. His Henry VI in the RSC's Wars of the Roses made people see the character and the plays in a new light (and the 1965 BBC television adaptation still kicks around YouTube). I've been in awe of his talent since seeing him in Holocaust, almost 40 years ago now. Only a few LC actors have more impressive bodies of work, and LC is lucky -as are we - that he seems to enjoy doing audio drama so much.
