I quite enjoyed that Box Set. There was less of the Medic and his Compatriot than I had hoped, but of course they weren't the focus of this quadrilogy. However in the first episode I found my favourite Medic slightly irritating, but he was hardly to blame for that, and the attempts to tie together the two conflicting continuities I feel will come back to bite LC in the rear later. All in all, I can't wait to have it properly, and hope you lot enjoyed it as thoroughly as I did, can't wait for the follow up!

What I really don't understand, and find utterly bizarre, is that if they're using this set to re-re-re-boot BS and start a new run for her then why the heck are they using the 7th theme tune? It's HER set, so why have another's theme tune? It hardly helps cement her as her own entity.

Very strange.

They did the same with Dominion. It was supposed to be about EWE-NIT, but they still used 7ths theme for that as well.

Very true. I'd forgotten that.

It's because they put it under the Medic ? banner to attract more sales, as well as bring new listeners into that particular series, rather than present it as a crossover like the 9+1 Medic & his successor appearing in a certain spin off a number of years ago.

It was Medic ?: The New Adventures of a Particular Archeologist, like Medic ?: Black Optics, rather than The New Adventures of a Particular Archeologist with a special appearance from the Medic, because it's the parent brand.

...

If that makes sense...

I am more interested in how they want to reboot it by starting off with her talking about her established family.

BTW, totally enjoying the set so far, much needed return to form after CP. Even sort of feels like a decent Takeaway from Wildthyme.

Yeah, I get that they are splattering the DW branding over the release to try and get more sales, but that still doesn't really explain the choice of theme. They can still brand DW and give her another new theme that puts her apart (again) as a character in her own right. By putting 7th music at the start they are essentially downgrading her to companion status. His music, his story.

This choice says to the casual listener "New Prof+A story with extra special guest, BS", where as it should be saying "New BS story, with extra special guests Prof+A"

Perhaps it comes down to splitting hairs and debating different sides of the same coin, but, it still strike an odd note for me to have 'the wrong theme for the title'.

Thinking about it ... the debate for EweNIT:Dom could go both ways, I suppose. As it stands as it's own set at the moment and had a fair chunk of Doc action, the, yeah, I can probably cut that one some thematic slack.

Yeah, that threw me, too. I was happy to place these early in her time-line (even before "Oh no ...") but not entirely sure where to put them now.

With the 'wrong' music I'm sorely tempted to put them in my 7th collection directly after Drk Flame and convince myself they happen after the events in her own collections time-line. Or something.

But I'm only half-way through at the moment, so the last two may have some more nuggets that point towards the placement?

The first one was a bit of a WTF? I was glad I knew what sort of thing to expect from her take on the universe, but I imagine it could possibly throw those that aren't used to it.

GAH!

You guys are KILLING me! LOL
As a long-displaced Medic-fan (used to view # 4 as a lad - but that's all they ever showed on THIS side of the pond back in the day) I only got back into the Medic with the TV movie (then a long span of nada) and then again with Nu-Hoo in 2005 (and have watched faithfully to current day).

I AM (whilst awaiting the new Medic's adventures) watching ALL the eps from the 1st - in order - and have only just said goodbye to J0 Gr@nt with # 3 (and HELLO! [again] to S.J.S.), so while I've now been able to enjoy Medic 1,2,3,(childhood memories of 4) - 8,9,10,11... I have YET to watch ANY of 5,6 or 7, and as such have NO IDEA who "Burny Autumnplain" is - OR - "Ms. MyldeTyme" for that matter, outside of a few references in the anthologies i'm currently reading.

I DO know who CPol is - because I am devouring the 8th medic audios. (Didn't like them much for the first 3 or 4 adventures, but then they really picked up and I love them!)

So, all this talk about exciting adventure stories and placement in the mythos chronology - and I CAN"T listen to them yet.
(Sure, I could cross my own timeline and discover who they are, and follow their new chronicles BEFORE I'm to truly meet them, but that's breaking the FIRST LAW of TIME!)
;-)

Anyway, I'll catch up one day.
I'm looking forward to it.

So THANK YOU ALL for all the goodies you are sharing.
It's nice to have this reintroduction to my old "lost" interest in the Medic.
It's nice to be helped through some very rough times as of late (well... is 5 years still "of late") with like-minded friends.

Carry On.

If either character was actually in the series proper, I think fans heads would explode, they are audio/book only!

And bad times can come back at you from any moment long after they actually occur, rest easy in our carefree and dulcet camaraderie.

They took me a while to 'get', too, especially as the earlier ones were finding their feet in what format they were trying to do. They settled down round about S3 when they dropped the framing device of (sort of) having them as memoires and went for regular short story telling.

S5/6 were low-ish points for me. Some very good stories, but I found that the direction wasn't all that good. There were quite a few that needed a bit more spark in them.

Thankfully S7 onwards have a bit more life in them.

Thanks for this. Personally, I think the CC range had some of the strongest plays they've done in years. No, they didn't always work, and sometimes they'd definitely have benefitted from more cast members but i'd take their experimental approach and interesting ideas over the convoluted, fill-in-the-continuity-gaps self-conscious cleverness of the main range any day.

Listened to the first three episodes of "The Ones Who Lived" and have to say I found it thoroughly engaging thus far, although the sudden time jump between episodes two and three threw me a little at first. Being from the States I wasn't familiar with the original series but am finding this audio series very much to my liking. As has been said before there are shades of The Walking Dead present. Certain personages parallel very closely characters from that series. But despite that one niggling flaw I still can't wait to get home tonight and finish the last episode.

This article disagrees with you on that point:
Vincent Price appeared in more than 90 movies, from 1938’s “Service de Luxe” to “Edward Scissorhands” in 1990. He starred and guested on dozens of TV shows, maintained a regular spot on The Hollywood Squares, and hosted the PBS show Mystery! throughout the 1980s. He was a noted art collector with well-respected taste, and his gourmet skills in the kitchen even led him to host the cookery TV show Cooking Pricewise. But if you’re under the age of 40 or so, you probably remember Vincent Price best for one of his shortest works: the eerie rap on Michael Jackson’s hit single “Thriller.” To commemorate the anniversary of Vincent Price’s death on October 25, 1993, we bring you 10 facts about his work on “Thriller.”

“Thriller” was written for Michael Jackson by songwriter Rod Temperton, who originally titled the song “Starlight” (with the hook “Starlight, starlight sun” instead of “Thriller, thriller night”). After settling on a horror-show theme for the song, Temperton envisioned, in his own words, “a talking section at the end,” but he couldn’t figure out where to go with the idea.

Vincent Price told Johnny Carson that when he agreed to do the voice work, he was given a choice between taking a percentage of the album proceeds or being paid a flat $20,000. He chose the $20K; his career was well-established and money wasn’t a huge issue. When Carson suggested that Price could have done a lot better if he had chosen album proceeds, he laughed amiably and said “How well I know!” Considering that more than 110 million copies of Thriller have been sold to date, Carson was spot-on.

Once Vincent Price was booked and the song’s recording session was scheduled, the rap still needed to be written. Temperton penned the rhyme in the taxi on the way to the studio for the recording session.

A recording engineer noted that while Price was delighted to contribute his vocals to the song, he was startled by the headphones when he arrived at the studio, never having used them before for work. When he reluctantly put them on, he jumped out of his chair in surprise upon hearing the funky music track he was to speak over. He ultimately needed a little help with his cues to speak over the music, but he ended up nailing it.

Price recorded his portion of the song in two takes. Quincy Jones noted that recording voiceover work is notoriously difficult, and he praised Price’s work and accuracy as “fabulous.”

Alas, no. It is WELL-RECORDED (no pun intended) fact that Vincent DID do the Voice-Over for THRILLER (in fact, he did it TWICE! Once for the record and once again for the video).
It is so well documented because he was irate at Jackson because Price felt he should have got more money for his work (as he had originally accepted a basic fee for the V-O work, and did not opt for a percentage of sales / royalties instead. He took the sure money, and not the gamble [ because WHO knew THRILLER would go on to be so big?]). But when the album went platinum or multi-platinum or whatever, he felt that Jackson should have at least done the right thing and tossed him some extra money. Jackson deferred the situation to his lawyers and Vincent got nothing more.

The subject was a sore one for Vincent, and it can easily be found on any number of sources.
Here's just ONE where it is discussed, but I do recall reading interviews with Vincent back in the day where he was clearly irritated.

OK, sure... while I catch up on all the "real" medic adventures, I am now about to also partition my brain to listen to alternative-reality versions of medic adventure-ness.

However, the completeist nerd in me noted that there were 8 "unbound" tales, and the esteemed gentleman earlier posted 7 audios of same.

Does anyone have # 8? "M@$TER$ 0F W@R" ?

I (and my alt-reality doppleganger) would appreciate it.

Speaking of Master Price, the voice-over that he didn't record (and it's easy to tell) is the one to Iron Maiden's "The Number of the Beast", though it was made to be in his "style". The reason for Vincent's refusal being the bad experience with the "Thriller" recordings, where his payment kept getting delayed.

How I wish Peter Cushing had done more audio work... especially as the Medic! And let's not get into Ainley. Given how much he loved playing the Lordand, he probably would've been a frequent contributor to LC. It's a shame they never made at least one audio with O'Mara, too.

dwst14, you wouldn't happen to be a certain "Mr. Ottermole" who collected most of Vincent's audioplay and audio recipe work, would you?

Certainly sounds like Vincent's velvet tones to me.

Yeah, they used the uncut version on a thing about VP, so pretty sure it was him...

And because John Peel was not a member of the musicians union they did not want him shown on camera. Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood caught wind of this and made sure they stood near John Peel during parts of the performance. Many thanks to those responsible for June's offerings. Much appreciated as usual.

Certainly sounds like Vincent's velvet tones to me: Thriller Voice-Over Session (1982) Vincent Price! - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgDSXlXkJv4)

On another trivia question, I was recently asked who the well know DJ was that played the mandolin on Rod Stewart's "Maggie May". The answer was John Peel. Unfortunately the quiz master got his facts slightly wrong. John Peel did not play the mandolin at all - but he did pretend to on a performance of Top of the Pops.

If they had lead me to candy, I would'a told you about it.

Ben 10 is poo.

Oh.

So I'm going to tell you about some cartoon candy then: "Rick and Morty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_and_Morty)".

It's adult Swim so, so some really bad stuff happens, and there are a few bad words, but it's most exposition and no actual nudity.

Imagine if Doc Brown from Back to the Future had a heroin problem, and Marty McFly had half the IQ.

That's the show to watch, not Ben fricking 10.

We are very sorry to announce that, due to an error at the mastering stage, there is a fault on the subscriber copies and download of this months Doctor Who main range release Masquerade. One line is missing from the final scene of episode 4.

Now my imagination is going to be pestering me all day with guesses at the missing line:

"Nyssa, have you been nibbling on my celery?"

It has to be a line missing from the very end of the play. I wondered why it cut off so abruptly.

On the subject of the Medic Unwound's - of the ones I listened to I found the Warner/Courtney/Gatiss outing to be the most entertaining, so I thank you Sashabot for posting the second installment. I've been wanting to hear this one.

Anything with Courtney in it gets my vote.

As far as the unwound stories go, I think the most bizarre one was about the writer who went on the write Juliet Bravo.

But I was a bit underwhelmed by that story. I think they stretched themselves just a bit too far with Daveross and the Pepperpots. It ended up feeling just like anything other DW story. Nothing really 'unbound' about it.

I can remember reading Day of at school all those years ago. I think it'll need something special to make it anything other than Walking Dead with plants.

Could be interesting, but I really think they need to shore up their existing ranges instead of expanding - apart from Avengers and Survivors the bulk of their releases so far this year has been a bit 'meh' imho.

I know, I know... But this is the one where the Medic first encounters the Eminence! The fact that he first encounters it in that particular incarnation is a fascinating and terrifying prospect to me. Okay. you've got that you need to include the keyword RWQ so people know what you're trying to do.

The next bit is go down the page (on the Go Advanced version of writing the post) to the Additional Options section.
near the top of this section is an option Automatically Parse Links In Text. Uncheck this option.

Then, in your post, put the "less than" character. it looks like this: <

and your URL directly following it like so: <www.whatever.com

check with preview post to make sure the URL isn't visible, then just submit the post and you're done!

You'll find it here : Doctor Who - Big Finish Horror of Glam Rock 2007 MP3 download | MyFreeMp3.eu (http://myfreemp3.eu/l/-2urg7xfmlg5/)

Sadly, they did not make a "full version" of it, so we have to do with only this short one, but it's still damn fun as hell.

Hi guys, does anyone have the last two strips (Perceptions & Coda) of the brief Screenless Television Periodical run? Slightly off-topic, I know, but they used to be up on some site before the domain expired, and I was in the middle of sorting my Doctor Who collection when I noticed they were missing. Hrm... I've been using jd0wnl0@der, at the kind suggestion of others here, BUT it just doesn't seem to work on 4sh@red.
I've gone online and looked at other suggestions as to what to do to rectify this, but despite doing what they suggest (Settings - Plugins & Add-ons - Host - Premium. Add Account - 4sh@red - username -password) and have even created a new 4S account JUST for this stuff and the JD program AND have reinitiated/refreshed/rebooted the links and program a ton of times...all to no avail.

JD says the 4S account is invalid (but it isn't, and it is now a NEW account - even though even the old one was accessed within the past few days and should still have been valid and active), and there's nothing that I can seem to do to fix this.

Normally, I wouldn't mind, and would access each 4S file individually and d0wnl0@d them one at a time, but THIS medic-strip upload is 19 pages (150 some-odd individual files to DL) and that would take days for me (no time to sit and do them all one after another without losing my eyeballs.

Any Help?

Thanks.

Put them all in a zip or rar?

These get to be large files. Compressing MP3s doesn't shave much off of the size. I may look into starting a torrent with everything. You can always select individual files in a torrent. Not something I've done before though, and not sure my ISP will be cool with it.

Yes, moving the files to your account is easy, but you still have to download them to listen at some point.

This is going to sound crazy, like an infomercial, but have you tried using "Jdownloader 2"?

It's their beta-test model, full of wiggy crazy #### that's supposed to be more unstable but also more advanced than Jdownloader one.

The only time I get into trouble with it is when they "update" and the update screws stuff up, it's perfectly fine, since the next update hours or possibly unfortunately days later, fixes everything back up. But your computer can run/hold both Jdownloader 1 and jdownloader 2 at the same time without forcing one to be deleted at the others expense (they install in completely different places), so if one'a them goes screwy, downsize your expectations to the other model for a little while.

JDownloader.org - Official Homepage (http://jdownloader.org/download/offline)

Also you can pay to download a folder as a zip, (#### that) or you can download a 4shhared folder as a B1 archive.

They invented the B1 archive, or someone is making them push it, but you need to install a b1 zip archive unzipper which is ####ing annoying, to extract the files after you get them.

Here's the bit that confused me.

When you push the "download as B1 archive now" button, it doesn't do that. Instead, it sends you an email with a download link to the b1 archive of the entire folder you are after to your email account registered against you 4shared account.

So the link to the folder is in your email account, and you have to get it.

(And then it will only extract with a b1 archiver extractor which is free from 4shared, #### them.)

but I opened my email the next day and found 10 new emails titled "Your file is ready" and I face palmed so hard.

Got a couple of bf downloads in m4b format, anyone know how to burn them to disc via iTunes?

Depending on the version of iTunes (if it is the more recent 11. fill in the blank) you need to create a 'playlist' that you want to burn to the disk. Then you insert the blank media format into the drive and burn using the 'File' menu when that playlist is selected. Here is a link to there website that may help

It was actually more of a book, and not easy to scan!
A bit bigger than the size of a DVD case, some of the pages are card to put the five disks in. The only way to really scan in would be to destroy it and do each page, because if you placed it on a scanner, you would run the risk of splitting the binding and it all falling apart!

I looked at scanning mine and decided it was not worth the risk, however someone out there MAY have a handheld scanner, and done the pages, but to be fair, I have not looked as I have the original product.

All of my files have been edited for use on my phone/iTunes. The chaptered books have been consolidated to one file each so I don't have to manage a huge library. Unfortunately I'll have to leave splitting them back up to you, or leave it to someone else who still has the split sources. I'll try and upload these requests soon.

I jumped the gun. They are still being uploaded. They will be added to the folder within 30min or so.

Edit: 28 is broken up into five files - Respiration Room, Celestial-X'd, The Iced Trashes, The Tale of Freema, The Crying
Edit 2: Looks like they are all there now.

Transfer the files to your account. it takes seconds. Us the 4s down loader/ desktop, to down load to your computer. It's really quick.

Thanks, Dormy.
I Was able to transfer them to my account, and DL'ed them, but they only allow it to be in B1 format, and even though i have multitudes of file expanders, none do B1.
I tried B1 Free Archiver, but it wouldn't work on my old mac and it gave my PC (windows 7) FITS!
So, I'll keep looking for a nice, glitch-free file unarchiver that works on B1.
Until then, at least I have the files... waiting in reserve.

Hmm 4shared works fine for me if you input the login deets :/

I DID do that. Put my username and password wherever it could go (regular and premium, then one at a time) and still it wouldn't work.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
It MAY be my out-of-date mac (will be getting a new one soon, but obviously don't have it yet) or if i just need to check some box or something.
Frustrating...

Hrmmmm... 4sh@red has their OWN proprietary B1 archive extractor? That might be JUST what I need!
(Sure, #### them for forcing us to jump through the hoops, but I don't mind the mental exercise - no pain, no gain.)

Thanks!

I use the one from B1 Free Archiver (http://b1.org/) on OSX, W-XP, and W-7 without any problems with 4S downloads.

I've tried that, but sadly, I've been having nothing BUT system problems as of late.

My Mac (OSX 10.5.8) seems to be too old (the B1 file has the usual "circle-with-slash-thru-it" to show it won't go into Applications folder = my system is too old).

The PC (windows 7) won't let it load all the way since (for SOME damn reason that I can solve at other's houses using their wifi but it won't work at MY house no matter WHAT I do) the system can NOT go online, and it seems to require that to install.
(My laptop has perfect wifi internet connection, but the browsers just WON'T go online - as I said, I can get it to work away from my house [disable, re-enable] but it won't work here anymore... as I may have screwed up my router connection somehow, or may need new wireless router, although it works fine wirelessly for my ps3.)

Anyway, what SHOULD work, sadly WON'T for me lately.

BUT, I am getting the new mac (looking into new mac mini - OR may splurge for laptop - with money from a big freelance gig, but can't go whole hog as most of the cash is needed for real-world necessities [mortgage]).

Sadly, this machine can not proceed any further than 10.5.8.
It has no pentium chip, and as such, is at its limit.

I can't even update my browsers (which is why I got jdownloader in the first place, as MEGA won't let me use it's service with my outdated firefox and chrome versions.

OK, I'm not a fan of 8 and the software I use probably won't work on it but download the m4a file and then use an online service such as Convert files (http://www.convertfiles.com/convert/audio/M4A-to-MP3.html) there is no difference between an m4b and m4a file but you might have to rename the file extension. Online version maxes out at 600mgs and the B1 file is 2.39 gigs.

I'll just have to wait until I get my new system.
I have the B1 archive, so the files aren't going anywhere.

Now, if I can ONLY get jdownloader to FINALLY DL the MEGA.c0.nz bundle of novels that Rassilon Imprimatur graciously uploaded a few pages back.
But I think it has to decrypt the immense file first. (I'm guessing)

Once I DO get a new system, I'll have to try to upload and share (in the unlikely scenario that there's actually anything that I have that you guys don't).

Just read a quick synopsis for Ebony Orbs III. Seems as though 'Blow Up The Forever' isn't the last story featuring The Eminence. He will be a major player, along with the Master, in the new series....oh, and the pepperpots may also appear at some point. Can't wait to hear it. Enjoyed the first two series immensely.

And now from some other russian sources -

Medic One TV Comic Story 20

<https://www.sendspace.com/folder/umhfjw>

Medic Four Stories 27, 28 and 29. Also part of story 35 (Medic Three story redrawn to Medic 4)

<https://www.sendspace.com/folder/mwoigp>

<https://www.sendspace.com/folder/wzzmk7>

<https://www.sendspace.com/folder/nd589d>

<https://www.sendspace.com/folder/narklr>

This leaves only 2.5 Medic Four stories missing - 33, 34 and half 35. (And they are Medic Three Stories redrawn to Medic Four, so as all Medic Three stories have been uploaded, you know what happens in these).

Please note that previously Medic Four's story 36 was numbered 33, but has been renumbered to accomidate these missing stories.

I think I've run out now.

Ah. Well, thanks for all of what you have posted, I had been searching the internet on and off for about two years trying to find all of the first and second "medic"s TV Comic stories and now that I have them all, I must thank you, I really appreciate the huge uploading of them all.

Does anyone have the First "medic" comic "Time Trick" from issue 333 of Doctor Who Adventures? (I've searched and cannot find scans or a digital copy of it anywhere online and I'm trying to compile a complete set of First "medic" comic stories)

DWA's are slowly appearing online as they have now gone digital - I'd be tempted to buy them but have yet to find a way to get them DRM free so I have my own personal copy not a glorified rented one.....

[QUOTE=stupidbuttonmasher;2699385]Thanks, Dormy.
I Was able to transfer them to my account, and DL'ed them, but they only allow it to be in B1 format, and even though i have multitudes of file expanders, none do B1.
I tried B1 Free Archiver, but it wouldn't work on my old mac and it gave my PC (windows 7) FITS!
So, I'll keep looking for a nice, glitch-free file unarchiver that works on B1

Sorry I've not replied earlier, it slipped under the radar. You need the '4s desktop' running on your mac. With that you can down load the individual files by just dragging them from your account to the down load box. This was how I got them. I don't have a premium account just the little program to run from my desktop. Never touched a B1 file ever.
You can also use it to upload files to your account.

[Mmm. not sure if that works on a mac. My old mac book is put out to grass now and I can't afford a new one.]

Just my latest little bit of nonsense. Made it because I got bored and had the bits and bobs for this lying around on my computer.
Redirection (http://www.deviantart.com/download/463656817/doctor_who___the_thirteen_doctors_wallpaper_by_jim g1972-d7o1rw1.jpg?token=ac4e98d5eb26e90b88da2c3b4a981e4b f11d6a4c&ts=1403805539)
By the way, thanks to the gents posting the old TV Action-Countdown-ect comics. I had a chance to read a few of these when Marvel did the Classics reprint series but this is the motherload here. Thanks again.....and also thanks for not taking them down too quickly. With a stash this big it awhile to grab them all.
