No. Just...no. Noooooooo...

Of all the stories that survive...

That’s why I picked that particular story, It's arguably the worst batch of the 1st medics episodes, but imagine if it had not been seen for 48 years. Memory is a curious beast that mostly allows us to retain all the best bits and imagination makes up for the rest.

I agree with SmugglerTrev that some things are probably best left unseen, that way they keep their lost classic status and don’t end up on dvd that you keep hidden behind your Darling Buds of May collection.

Though just for the record I would love to see all the lost episodes returned, I just wonder how many of them would in fact keep their place on the classic list!

Hi all. I had to re-register 'cause I can't find my old login info from when I used to post. Been away for something like a year and have so much to catch up on. Trying to backtrack through the posts is time-intensive (I've tried, but the drama posts take up so much space) and time is really precious these days. What's the best way to catch up on the medic's adventures I've missed?

Buffalo Springfield - Stop Children What's That Sound - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjSpO2B6G4s)

there's something happinin here
what it is aint exactly clear
theres a man with a gun over there
tellin me i got to beware

i think it's time we stop, children
what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

there's battle lines being drawn
nobody's right if everybody's wrong
young people speakin there minds
getting so much resistance far behind

it's time we stop,
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

what a field day for the heat
a thousand people in the street
singing songs that they're carrying signs
mostly say hurray for our side

it's time we stop,
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

Par-a-noia strikes deep
into your life it will creep
it starts when your always afraid
step out of line the man come and take you away

we better stop
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's going down x4

On the other hand... we could be realistic. Looshkin is a great guy. I flat out refuse to believe he tried to get anyone banned. As far as sending questionable insults, she's the one insulting us by thinking we'd believe that garbage. Goldie is a drama queen. She "leaves" every other day but never actually gives us any peace by lurking. She used to be a reliable alarm clock for when new releases were announced because she'd be here within five minutes asking for them. Something she still does when she has a 'long drive' ahead of her. She started posting some items and all of a sudden we have members thanking her profusely and building statues of her. Why? Read this thread from the beginning. We used to have members who would reliable share every single month. They were content when we hit the 'like' button.

(Incidentally, that's why forums have buttons like that. So they're not cluttered up with three pages of one word posts. If you absolutely feel the need to thank somebody, add to the current discussion at the same time. No one can fault you for that.)

Back on topic. Everything that this thread craves in terms of release titles shows up quite quickly. Even with our long lost posters (we miss you foe) not delivering like they used to. So why all this fuss over Goldie? Apart from some scattered shares (all of which are appreciated) what is her actual contribution to the thread? Scapegoat? This thread has started to feel like a reality tv show in just how ridiculously unjustified we pay attention to this one person. Why don't we shift that attention back to the five something members we had who delivered every month without being asked or expected us to reward them?

If the battle lines are being drawn, I suggest you choose your side wisely. I think you'll find that the troublemakers can't keep their friends. Especially when they're bought and paid for with 'exclusive' shares that show up here anyway one day later. Since I'm not on the other site, could somebody do me a favor and send this to her? She can add me to the list.

Wouldn't it be great if it were possible to work out a trade with God? We could all agree to give up our copies of the Web Planet in exchange for another story. I'd settle for just making that story disappear.

Hooo-oooo-oooot pocket!

I'm sorry but this is just trouble making even more. Why would someone inform her of your post? Why are people STILL stirring. GET OVER IT!!! we were just starting to get back to normal. When Goldie comes back it's going to start again unless we stop talking about it and move on and not add more fuel to the fire. As for battle lines, if thats not stirring I don't know what is. Please people, ENOUGH!

When people upload things they tend to only leave them active for a few days at most - so most of the old links will be dead.
This because links were taken down and the people who put them up being warned.

Ask for the things you are missing (but try to be discrete and not list the titles in an obvious way) and people will often upload them

If you want a great number of titles it might be wiser to see if you can find them on one of the mega torrents that contain pretty much everything. It can take a while, sometimes days, but they are useful. And then ask here for people to post what you are missing.

I have not posted much of late here because of all the squabbles going on.
I have seen members have fights, members have meltdowns, members get banned, new members come from out of nowhere and suddenly think they are the moral guardians of this site.
On one hand it saddens me, because I really used to enjoy it here, on another hand it sickens me some of the comments some people are making against others.

I have one thing to say to the shit stirrers, the trouble makers and the ones that relish in taking their perverse view of morals.....

Hey everybody. Just listened to latest main medic. Story good nice to have Syl back and nice wink to Peri as well! What's everyone's take on Flip? Guess it'll take some time to get used to although I like the fact she's a no-nonsense companion.

On another note, I listened in the last few weeks the complete run of Charley with both 8 and 6. I think maybe this series with her will be good but would it be relating her time with the health-freak-aliens? Anybody know?

I really believe Fury From The Deep will remain a classic just so long as nobody gets to see it! The Troughton stories sometimes tended to over-use foam, with bad results & I can imagine Fury being one of those!

Imagine if The Gunfighters was a lost classic, wouldn't we all be longing to see the 1st Medic at the OK Corral? Especialy the spaghetti western lovers among us.

So today's Menu Special is a classic helping of spaghetti (RWQ) served with kelp (RWQ). Er, yum?

Nobody has made a call to battle lines. We've started to form up on our own. That's how wars start. I try very hard to stay out of all fights. That was the first deliberately inflammatory post I've ever made here. I feel it had to be made and if you were familiar with me you'd know it was out of character. I'm not sorry I made it. Here's hoping all my future grumbling can be made via pm.

I've been very busy these last couple months and haven't been able to keep caught up on the releases. Hopefully, that'll change in the next week. As such, I can only comment on Flip's original trilogy. I was very off put by her introduction. I was still behind back then as well, so I knew she was coming but was surprised to hear her name in an earlier release. Even more so when I discovered that she didn't actually do anything in that story. I have to agree with the theory that she was an emergency replacement turned permanent companion. Six obviously needs a steady companion and I have no problem with them giving him a new one but Flip was a shrub in her first story. Why her? DI Menzies is not only a fantastic character, she flat out asked him to come along. Why would LC do that if they never had any intention of him catching up with her again? That said, I don't dislike Flip. I want more time with her to decide if she's going to be looked forward to or put up with. I also think we need Menzies to come back for another story if only so she can give six a good verbal thrashing for forgetting about her.

I've been giving Capaldi's costume some thought. From what I've read from various sorces and from little hints from Capaldi himself has led me to suspect we mignt be looking at a reworking of Hartnell's costume, not sure how this would work for a modern audiance though.

If you look at what Moffat has done he has basically reset the Doctor to how he was in the olden days - Matt Smith was, by the end, wearing an Edwardian frock coat again. And travelling with a teacher from Coal Hill school! So if Peter Capaldi is in Hartnell style gear the groundwork has already been done and the audience barely noticed it.

I liked how Matt's costume evolved throughout his tenure. It's nothing new because Pertwee changed every storie and T Bakers costume changed periodicaly too, I think it goes for making a more believable and rounded character.

I hadn't given Moffat's reset much thought to be honest, but what you say is perfectly true of course. He seems to have put a lot of effort into taking him (the Medic) back to his roots, and I supose having Capaldi in Hartnell like attire would be the ultimate reset.

Totally agree with you RE: Menzies. Seems like a GREAT character. Since the doc's excuse for not having her on board was because of Charley basically, nothing would technically prevent him from going back to pick her up... Here's hoping!

My only real problem with Menzies is that it felt like LC were trying to do something vaguely Torchwood with her.

A trilogy with her with 6,7 and then 8 could be interesting.

Someone in the preproduction area at LC said this a year ago: "Shit, Mary's dead but we have all these scripts for her that are ready to go, so what are we supposed to do now?"

It's possible that this story was supposed to have all three Romanai in it, but then it's also possible that Juliet had be cast just to fill in a vacancy in Gallifrey afterwhich her participation just snow balled from there...

Her speaking voice is the opposite of Drusilla from Buffy.

(It's almost a crime for Terry not to play Davros.)

I got through all my saved audios while it was down. However, this was an interesting case of me not liking them. Rarely happens, but now and then. I was able to stop listening and delete them pretty fast. Still, I always appreciate the chance to find out.

Also, I donated. Now I'm out of work, I seem to be forking out the cash at a worrying rate. It's a habit I'll have to try and break.

Erm ... we aren't exactly a closed community. DrWho001 admits pretty much anyone - he only excludes people who constantly try to cause problems on here.

We do NOT bad talk about this place. Yes we may complain about the constant arguments on this thread, and about the constant closures while the owners beg for cash but that's because we all like this place and nobody wants to see it close, regardless of what you may think. I'm curious as to who is feeding you all the crap about what is going on over at the other place - a place, I may add, that you seem determined to keep bringing up. Maybe you should follow your own advice and stop whining about the existence of other place.

Well look. There are all sorts of private blogs out there. Many created as a reaction to the occasional downtimes here. Many formed by a group of friends or members who wanted to be able to keep in touch outside of here. Some are generally open to anyone, some are not. Some are free for alls, many are not. If they want to control membership, or control acceptable posts/behavior, they are HARDLY the only private site to do so. You're gonna have to give up on that little acorn and move on.

There's a trailer for dim peepers two on the LC website front page.

I've been making my way through the monthly range, and I'm up to 8 and Mary Shelly, which means that I am again gagging for a story that never happened... Mary Shelly vs. Davros.

(Yes the Cyberman are a better fit for the monster, but shut up.)

You know how "You're so vain I bet you think this song is about you" the song, is about Warren Beatty?

Ditto...

If Davros kept up with his reading, studying the cultures he's trying to exterminate, surely he would notice the paradox upon meeting a woman infamous for writing about a mad scientist before she infamously wrote about the mad scientist she probably based on him.

Would he feel chuffed or insulted?

Making the link forums invisible to bots, spies, and google, which minimizes take downs, is what is important.

You should have kept them - apparently VHS is the current 'hipster' trend.

Saw a hipster type taking photos around the village last week. Trying to look all artistic as he twiddled various knobs on it and set the focus on the lens of his old box-brownie type thing, fiddling with his light meter etc etc. All well and good.

The best sci-fi is often the type that gives you a knotted feeling in your stomach, a topic that dosn't cry out all will be well in the future. 1984 is a great example and Terry Gilliam's Brazil, both portray a very represt future for mankind. I like the thought provoking rather than the shine and glitz of say the star trek future.

I never got to enjoy Web, I got a kick out of Enemy though. Troughton fighting himself was awsome!

Oddly enough, complete opposite for me. Yeah, Troughton's duel role was fun, but in terms of story and presentation I much preferred Web.

Anyone can type with their feet if they have something better to do with their hands, but you don't think that when you are smelling posts through a monitor, it effects the post's odour depending on if those posts are typed with fingers or toes?

There are three modes of jerking off that you need to be concerned with at the moment...

Subliminal.

Liminal.

Superliminal.

:)

Your success with spank desensification is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum from what others have achieved intensive result with from stealth wanking.

Let me explain the difference.

A subliminal stealth tugger can return to the scene of his deposit, and reabuse the location dozens of times until the area is declared unfit for human habitation by ordinances from city hall.

Meanwhile your obtuse superliminal self love exploits will just get you banned for life from all starbucks nation wide seconds after you first cup your spuds.

The many, many, many BBV movies constantly went back to the well for casting old cast members from who.

When I was about 10 or 11, that cardigan was the thing I wanted most in the whole world! That and a real K9!

I always wanted the car.

Well, you can't have the car without the boxes! :)

But I'd swap them for the General Lee and Catherine Bach.

I love Cardigans and wear them all the time (in the cooler months).

I've got 2 in heavy rotation now (with others that I wear less often, or just at home cause they're comfy):

One is a light grey (mostly monochromatic, but with subtle darker shades of yarn intermixed) with intricate knitwork designs.
I am currently wearing that today, over a dark purple (plum?) sueded microfibre collared shirt (buttoned all the way to the top), black trousers, a dark charcoal knit long scarf (about 7 feet long) and with a (twill?) pea green, military-cut, London Fog trenchcoat overall.
(Boots are usually black leather "beatle boots", but today with all the snow and ice, they're brown sueded leather hiking boots and the hat is currently a pea green ascot cap).

The women love the look!

Obviously I've other "ensembles" that they work well with but that's just what I'm wearing right now.

For the sake of this forum, I'll state that I also wear a brown/green multishaded Cardi (reminiscent of the 4th medics) over a pea green cotton turtleneck, tan trousers, the same pea green trench and my 4th medic 13-foot scarf.

One of the women I work with loves that look so much that she has offered to knit me multiple 4th medic scarves (from different seasons, including the rust and crimson one from his final seasons).
THAT's the power of the Cardigan! lol

Just thinking of what would get paper cuts makes me wince and I'm not even a guy!

Quite possibly ....

I've never done the whole cos-play thing, and I've never really gotten into the whole 'dressing a bit like The Doctor'/Merchandise clothing thing, but I must admit that were I to I think I'd have to go for the multi-colour-duffle-coat look that Syl's wearing for this.

Just to see who got the reference.

Forget clothing reveals and sonic reveals. It's new console room designs that make me stare inappropriately and drool.
Please remove your fancy new cardigan, sir, it's obscuring my view of your fancy new pulsating time rotor.
Eight's was the first to reach the ceiling. Just saying.

A new console room?

But I haven't finished fuming with vitriol about the current cocking one!

There is just soooooooo much to complain about.

If they didn't build this new set, they could a ford to do another two episodes.

Agreed!

Medics 1 to 7 managed on one (ok yes there was the secondary one during 4's time and minor changes, but essentially.....)

8 had a new one (ok 7 introduced it but you know what I mean!)

9 and 10 had one between them

11 had TWO!!!

mind you... at least they ditched that blown glass rotor!
I'm sure it sounded great when planned, and was amazing in the imagination, but the reality was never that special.

(BTW... have we reached a final decision on medic numbering now? I think I prefer to stick to the old system, with JH as 8.5; but I'm not sure what to call PC, 12 or 13 or 14, or 1:cycle2

opinions?)

Ahh BBV

Sylv may be a Hollywood movie star now, but I wonder if his has nightmare flashbacks.....

No! No! Not the Foot Doctor!!!
