Need some help while running a new anti virus thing I lost some of my dim castings. I need Mission Win, Reaping of Spirits, Buggy of the Doomed, Demon Feline, Fright, Hex of Surfer, Blinking of an Iris, Rescue us from Malevolence, Reverberations of History, Plasma and Flame, Visions of Ancient History and Cass and Anthony's Puzzles. The Medic and spin offs are abundant but other LC stuff like dim castings are really rare and practically impossible to find. Any help would be great and I would be eternally grateful for any help. I don't think there were. However, the one thing I'm most looking forward to getting (and it's not even at the bay yet) is the final HG adaptation. I'd get it myself, but I'm trying not to spend anything on my credit card so that I have some extra money on hand for a trip I'm leaving on this coming Thursday and I won't be back til Tuesday of next week. Gonna try to load my mp3 player with some LC stuff I've not been able to keep up with to buzz through.

Ah, feels like FOREVER since I set foot in here! Hope all is/has been well with y'all!

I needed to distance myself from the Medic for about a year and change, as I have learned to find the new series (again, my opinion) to be a huge disservice to the series as whole. Separating myself helped bring me back just in time for the latest 8th Medic boxed set, which I quite enjoyed! So, long story short, ClassicWho is the only Who I will recognize - TV Film all the way to 1963. Now, that said, I have a bit of a request..

I was looking through old stuff on my laptop, and while I found the 8th Medic's 4 comic TPBs in cbr format, I could not find Andy Mel's Cart graphic novel NIGHT's DOMAIN in cbr format. Would anyone still have it and if so, would please be able to share again? Thanks in advance, gang!

When you see it in motion, and the use of the TARDIS causing the line through the middle of certain letters as it travels across the screen, it makes more sense. It's also very current in the age of social media and clean logos. I wouldn't say its the most original or memorable, but given the digital era we are in it makes sense to head in the direction of insignias etc.

The most interesting fact is the use of composer Matthew Herbert, aka The New Radiophonic Workshop, to write the short sting used over the logo reveal. Perhaps now that Murray has left the composing table, Chibnall likes the idea of going back to a classic sound for Series 11?

Teporal_Tomato
02-21-2018, 07:06 AM
That would be a dream. I like how classic the TARDIS is with its shorter stature, alternating blue/white light (kind of like that season 17 police siren one), opening windows, narrower sign, black panel and lock above the handle. It has one or two aspects from each decade of the show.

So it was you Webs who posted C or V or maybe it was both possibly.

The post was clearly an angry response to another member.
I don't know why or who it was and certainly it's none of my business.
But deleting the UL as quickly as you probably did while it must have upset your adversary, it also put the pinch on the rest of us too.
I'm sure you'd agree that 99.9% of us other members are friendly, supportive, and very grateful for the great contributions of generous angels like you and many others.
Was hopeing therefore that you or maybe someone else who was lucky enough to grab the post other than RS would consider making a repost with appropiate ID.
It would certainly be much appreciated by us all.
And it might help a little if whomever you had your dispute with, might PM or online you with a little apology too.

Thanks for your consideration.

I'm very confused by this post. I'm assuming you had the good sense to click reply with quote on Riddle's post, yeah? And I'm assuming you did the same on the the webs post you quote here? The point is that the messages are references, especially in Webs case. If you only think to read the message, misinterpret it and don't do the other thing then (for such a long standing member) that's a bit baffling.

EDIT: Webs is free to do with their files as they see fit - you can always politely request a re-up.

Dude, not to belabor this, but I'm a bit confused by your post.
You say the messages are "references".
Too what pray tell?
I realize we use codes here, but those are to alert us to ULs neither of which was available from either post when I visited them.
You also use the word and phrase "misinterpret and "don't do the other thing".
How did I "misinterpret" and what "other thing" didn't I do?
With regard to misinterpretation, neither one of their posts sounded like they were kidding around.
Finally, I'm very much aware that Webs or anyone else can do whatever they want with their files.
Of course!
I only made a suggestion, not a demand.
To presume anything else, is itself a misinterpretation.
To the extreme.

If I wasn't very clear, my post was hinting that one should use base64 to decode the link to UTF, which would then make it downloadable. It's a safety measure to keep the files around for longer. And the other guy's post you mistook for an "angry response" is actually a reference to the content he was uploading.

In case you're not aware, replying posts makes unseen contents visible around these parts.

Unfortunately, in order to cut costs, they are moving toward single covers for boxsets (as covered in either the official podcast, or on NB@B's new secondary unofficial podcast this past week). The rationalization for this was "Brexit making the materials used in CD pressing to be astronomically more expensive than they were before - so they had to offset it elsewhere in order to keep the cost to the customer down".

Teporal_Tomato

I hope they release them digitally like with temporal conflict. That would honestly be a pretty sizeable loss to the overall quality of the product if not. If they do move to that though, I would want the box sets to use the "bookmark" design used on the single releases and on the CC and Medic 3 adventure box sets.

Same. I'd hope that at the least the 'Special' release sets would feature additional art simply because of the larger price associated.

I think we have to face the fact that Brexit has been damaging to companies and that they are going to start tightening their belts in various ways. The art work is, sadly, a victim of that and (except in top priced special edition boxsets) isn't coming back.

Riddle Snowcraft.Δ17
03-08-2018, 05:47 AM

Depends on many things (LC Contracts with artists mostly, as well as the margin that keeps them profitable right now versus losing money) basically, even though they are retrospectively huge compared to the size they were even 5 years ago; losing money is losing money, and they are at least presently unwilling to pass the cost on to consumers.

But seriously, who even buys CD's these days? Only a small number of old traditionalists who want to display them on their shelves. I can't even remember the last time I bought any kind of CD. What's really the point of having separate covers for each CD? I mean, yeah, it's nice, but if something has to go for costs, that seems like the best option. And it probably allows for smaller, and cheaper cases, too, which is a plus for everyone.

I wasn't over-impressed with the first medic box set. Bradley's performance focused entirely on the tetchy old man part of the first incarnation but completely lacked the mischievous twinkle that made Hartnell's portrayal so endearing. Interesting to see that the comics are using the new logo on issues that previously had covers with the "classic" one. I wonder if the Medic 7 comic will be using it too, they did say it was for use on "all merchandise." I hope that doesn't include LC, they'd have to totally change the cover layout. Not to mention it'll date a lot of stuff when the logo inevitably changes again (using it on the blu rays of the classic series is a shelf display disaster waiting to happen).

Yes, it's a bit hard to say, given we've had no stories. I'm sure that Jodie would put her all into the part, as she would do with any other role she has.

Yes. I hope they just get back to telling rip-roaring classic stories. Capaldi played the role for 3 years plus and extra year with a few specials - that's exactly the same as the previous 2 actors and more than Troughton, Davison, Baker 2, McCoy, McGann and Eccleston.

IMO he left at the right time as he never really did anything bad but never caught the imagination of the public the way other actors have. So it's better to leave having done 3 years and leave with his head held high.

Yes, I agree. I'm glad that his last year improved. I just felt he hadn't been very well served by the writing throughout his tenure.

Though I will add that during Troughton's time they virtually worked year round, so he's actually pumped out a lot more stories on his time.

Troughton filmed 119 episodes in his run (NOT including later appearances) at 25 minutes a pop... that is the equivalent to 59.5 50 minute episodes. PC filmed 40 episodes in total, many at 44 mins, with a handful being a bit longer such as the Christmas episodes and such. Bottom line is Troughton had about a third more screen time than PC, so the amount of years in role is not a valid level of comparison compared to the amount produced during the run!

Plus I would kill to actually watch Fury from the Deep, and could not give a damn if I never saw that three part monk snooze fest from PC last season ever again! (I enjoyed the other episodes though lol)

I know, out of all the characters to choose! Why??? I'm sure the character is already too similar to Big Stream and B3nny! Though I don't doubt that LC would do a good job.

It's not something we've all sat down and thought: damn, wouldn't she make a great character to spin off her own stories. Maybe LC are just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Well, they're shifting attention to the modern audiences, so it was only a matter of time Christina got her own series. I foresee one for each one-off companion from the end-of-year RTD specials.

If LC want to do something really interesting for a change why don't they acquire the rights (or BBC license) to remake the Quatermass stories? Or even add new ones? Or seek the rights to some of Kneale's lesser known works? 'The Road' would really lend itself to the audio format!

It'd be easy to side step around the fact that Liz is no longer around. And let's face it, her sudden death definitely left things feeling unfinished. Audio would be the perfect medium to continue the series.

They would like those rights, Brick Niggs has said as much. Don't know who has them but they're not up for grabs apparently.

I agree though. I watched The Beasts series at the beginning of this year.

Hammer own the rights to Quatermass, and at last thing I heard was that they were planning a TV series for BBC America, with Jeremy Dyson as the writer/showrunner..... mind you that was about 18 months ago, and have heard nothing more since!

I'd love something focused on them too. Even if it was Chronicles-styled with Sarah's dialogue narrated by one of the kids. They could do so much more... (so! much! more!)
Not to mention everything that can still be done with Sky Smith.

You would think that, as hard as the podcast has been pushing it for over a year, they would be doing a Catweasel release before they would be doing Christina...

I don't, personally, feel that the characters they are bringing back from one-offs in the new series really have the calibur that the older series spinoffs do. This might be because the new characters are coming from a single 45 minute episode (or 3.. if you count that) versus characters like J&L who - even though they only appeared in a single Story, that story was a few hours long. There are characters who have persisted a very long time under the new series that could be used to greater effect than this current announcement.

(I do recognize that they take the actors they can get, and thus have to schedule their series based on that rather than particular set of releases that may meet various storytelling standards)

Difference is Fury is lost so seems far more alluring :P

It may be lost, but having read the novel several times, watched the telesnap reconstruction a few times and listened to the sound track released by the beeb several years ago on CD, I stand by my comment lol!
I always thought Enemy of the World got a bad rap in the past, having experienced that story in the same ways as listed above, and when I got to see it fully, and not just the lone orphan episode that existed for years, In my mind it went from being a good story to brilliant.....
Now as Fury is already at the brilliant level based on the available experiences, I think actually watching it may elevate it to a religious or sexual experience for me (delete according to personal tastes and preferences lol)

However I except that everyone is different and I know that level of enjoyment would not be the same for everybody!

Something like this could be interesting. I like looking at the Medic's adventures through a different lens, that of a conspiracy theorist especially. Something only expanded upon once in an episode with the infamous absorbaling :P

His character actually popped up in an anthology recently that explains how he became obsessed with the Medic; he stumbles upon 12 and together they go up against a certain monk!

Oh nooooo, please, not her! The episode she appeared in was complete rubbish, the character was the ultimate female-gentleman-thief clich, and the actress herself... well, let's say the level of her acting habilities is inversely proportional to her chest size.

With "Nova Terra" I thought they had scrapped the bottom, with these news it appears they're still digging deeper...

I agree... that and Marco Polo for me are the two that I really, really want to see... the two grail stories as it were. I know many want Evils of the Pepperpots and other such perceived classics, but Fury and Marco are the ones for me.
Many years ago in Bath at a convention, I met Victor Pemberton who wrote it, it was not long after the Target book came out, because I got him to autograph it, anyway I digress.... the way he spoke of the story, of how it was, how he changed the normal formula of Who at the time and tried to make it adult and different really grabbed my imagination. The man was a great writer, and his other works have a very who/doomwatch like vibe to them. I just wish that he had written more for Who!

A requested statement being posted.Just a place holder for newbs coming to this thread.

If there is anything you especially want then ask politely for it and someone often will upload it for you.

Try not to ask for something that's been released in the last week or so though. The release will find it's on here eventually and asking for it so soon can seem a little demanding.

It's nice that there are still posters who keep Uling here for Shrine.
Really is.
Even though the "other place" seems to have become the mostus for posters for new and old material.
The thing is the posts that seem to popup here are largely reiterations of the same stuff that already have appeared at the "other"...
So essentially Shrine is receiving needless duplifications that aren't needed.
Wouldn't it be nice, really cool, and advantageous instead of repetition of superfluous DLs if posters would be motivated
to contribute their time and selfless generosity by putting up stuff that for some reason is suddenly being ignored here despite it's former great popularity.
Like some of LC's other engaging series once so popular here.

IE. like Vol. 3 of the The O Syndrome.
Vol.3 of the A folks of the strips featuring the team S & P so beloved all over the world. Ep. TNC
Or maybe the last two sets of the Victorian sleuth about transparency and grange.
Or even SP's new 5 eps. from it's fresh take on the Sherwood bandit.
Or just whatever else strikes the fancy.

Episodes from these various series have appeared here and even at the "other" almost with the same religious fidelity of the medic outings.
Why not again?
Why continue to waste time and resources with redundant dupes?
What better way to make the Shrine once again the very best and most comprehensive site for posting for the world community of fans and collectors as it always has been.
Once again.
What d'you think?

Well, as some of us here neither know what nor where this 'other place' is then asking that people stop 'needless duplifications [sic]' here would in fact significantly disadvantage us. In short, they are NOT needless at all. Except perhaps to you.

Things like OF, SH and A (or even DS) are harder to find because their fanbase are not only much smaller than the main LC stuff, but they are also very aware of sites like this and how that correlates into non-sales yielding fewer new releases for small franchises. Even stuff like The Medic NA's was killed by lack of sales -- and an overwhelming number of fans who were puzzled why it was cancelled and wrote to LC about it. (it was even said that if the number of people wanting more NAs had Purchased the ones that they released - then they would still be doing them)

LC has been VERY vocal - especially recently - about the above facts at conventions and on their podcasts. The casts of these productions have become very vocal about it. I met CB and explained to him that 'The Medic and the Marauders' was my favorite thing he'd done for LC -- he asked if I had stolen it or if I actually bought it. (To be fair, the answer there is I got it from this site first, then purchased it from LC during one of their sales)

Things like the Medic are so popular that they will always have at least one Kind Fan who shares their purchase with the masses, but when you have actors/writers/designers/etc constantly telling you that they work for *essentially* the lunch, then the kill shot (as it were) is fired by NB that if they can't meet financial goals; you really are not going to get new releases of various niche titles - the easy flow of sharing that we had access to in the past is going to dry up.

So, I mean I get wanting to get the latest releases the day they come out at no actual cost, but sometimes you have to either be resigned to having to wait until someone can afford/does post them, never hearing them, or putting some money in the coffer. (which is, of course, not always feasible and is the reason that this type of fan forum is helpful to fans)

I am a completist and as much as I would love for something to be posted asap, I waited patiently and asked for it later. Wasn't there a time when this place was called a request forum. If you wanted an audio you would politely ask for it and if it was available someone would post it. Maybe it would be wise to wait for something to be out for a month or two before someone requests it or posts it. I've requested old dim castings before here without replies. Do I rant and complain about it? No I wait and request them again later. With this forum it is just a matter of courtesy and patience.

So was just on the site run by the folks who used to run Kasterborous and there was an article where Ms. Gomez let slip at a recent US appearance that Miss will be meeting Mrs. Medic courtesy of LC's Melody Journals. We'll have to wait for an announcement from the powers that be at LC for official confirmation to see if she wasn't just yanking fans chains.

Nah not a joke, someone wrote to the LC podcast and asked about it, she was rambling about it at a convention. NB confirmed that Gomez shouldn't have said what she did but they would be announcing it as soon as they are legally able. So, yea, confirmed.

TBH I think she would be a pretty good foil for Benny.
