You request EVERY MONTH!!! You've never shared anything since I've been on here. I've even sent you PM with stuff. You're a hypocrite!
At the risk of igniting something again, I will say that I'm not really as active on this thread as I used to be. Also, I used to share a few things here and there if someone needed them. However, I've not been doing it too much lately due to an unpredictable "part-time" (I put it in quotes because I'm supposed to be part-time, but it sure as hell doesn't feel like it a lot of the time) work schedule, coupled with some recent emotional problems that have been plaguing me. I honestly feel like these audios are the only things keeping me from breaking down completely. So... could you ease up on the hostility, please? I've got enough stress right now as it is. Especially since I've now returned to work after being gone visiting my friend in New Jersey all last week...

I think it all comes down to Who being so much more popular than it used to be. People tend to forget that, for many years, classic Who was seen as a joke by the world at large & being associated with it was not something people were proud of.

But all that's changed now. In the UK, at least, it's mind-blowing just how much that's changed. People who used to cringe at the mention of Who are suddenly shouting it from the rooftops. It's no coincidence that, since the show came back, so many people who'd been avoiding BF are now keen to get involved. I think this was the case for Janet, Matthew & Tom. Definitely for Tom!

Something about 'dirty microphones,' reportedly. That and 'it just wasn't a pleasant experience.'

It could be that he'll only do it if he's working alongside one or more of his old co-stars, as opposed to carrying a title by himself.

Given that proper, respected actors go back to work with LC again and again and say how much they enjoy it I really think it says something about the Sergeant that he finds it not a "pleasant experience"

He had an extraordinary list of demands when asked to contribute to the DVD commentaries - which is why he appears on them very rarely and always by himself.

Personally I think it's more likely that he was just bloody awkward.

I note that he did one of the new CD commentaries for the Demons - I wonder if he's perhaps started to mellow out a bit

Happy semi-belated birthday to the show.

And... After an extended absence (same user as NileQT1987 here--I had account/password trouble and this site is now a nightmare to change such things), and still not having even watched Twelve (I have issues with a certain showrunner), I've come back to the fandom and now face having to collect a year's worth of releases, which thanks to several very useful sites (including one just mentioned--thank you!), I've mostly all gotten now.

Except... Twelve's NSA novels/audiobooks/anthologies are giving me all the trouble now. HELP! With the exception of a fair number, the mags are another problem spot.

*edit* And I just realized there are two more deluxe past medic novels past the icy Cosmic Hobo and harvesting Dandy that involve the Scarf and Pinstripes. Yeah, I need some help here. *edit* Found Scarfy audio, but not book.

And good God, there was a lot of releases in the last year. I was pretty up to date up until that point minus a handful of things (mostly that Medic I haven't yet watched).

And I know it's a paltry gift, but for anyone who likes watching large playlists of fanvids, I've been busy collecting again (it's my thing for a bunch of fandoms): Playlist! (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEC9BA7CC44F08E4A)

Davro2015,

As stated above; should you decide not to share as generously as you have - or even at all - no one can object to that.
You've been a treasured sharer, but even MORE important - you're a treasured fan and friend to us on the forum.
There's no need to go.

While I've not been on this forum nearly as long as most (and still feel shame that I've only shared a scant few book/comic links), I've been a member of other forums (mostly comicbook themed) and have seen this happen time and again. A few heads knock together over some kind of dispute. Some times, one of the offending parties is just having a miserable time of it and is lashing out (or acting up for attention). And what might have started as an off-hand comment is then parried, and then the original offender (accidental or not) feels the need to dig in their heels and double down.
It escalates and then someone leaves.

I honestly don't know what happened to start it all here - as my computer is so rickety these days that I usually only crack it open on weekends - but I read a few of the back and forth. I don't claim to understand what started it or even know the behind-the-scenes DMs and such.

However, 2016 has been SUCH a bear of a year. It is a relentless machine of dread, doom and dire deaths...
I know likening quitting a forum to "death" is a bit hyperbolic, but in the most metaphorical sense...

All I'm saying is, don't let 2016 win.

Every voice here is appreciated.
If you go, you will be missed.
If anyone goes, they will be missed.

Just my 2cents.

---------- Post added at 03:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:32 PM ----------

A giving of Thanks!

With the recent situation on the board, and the recent Thanksgiving holiday, it made me think of those from whom I hadn't heard much as of late.

People like dwst41, Rassilon Imprimatur, jlatx, kimekaro, and others (sadly, with my visual-memory, big bold avatars tend to be remembered more easily).

I would have sworn I had seen their avatars on the board make a comment or two recently, but going back, I can't seem to locate them (most recent was about a month ago). So... I just want to ask if they were ok.

I know sometimes, some of the higher profile members may find the need to lay low and just lurk for awhile.
Plus, life has a habit of getting in the way,
I hope this is the case.

Whether or not there are shares (and I'd truly like to thank those who can and do), I mean it when I say that the fun and silly friendliness that goes on here is appreciated.

Sadly, I've had my head far up my own posterior since being downsized this past October, so I've not really been too observant of the forum's comings and goings.
For this, I apologize.

I hope all's well with everyone.

I sometimes feel there is a expectation for sharers to stop what they are doing for a daily job, download and buy the shiny new thing from LC, and, in the face of married life with kids, single life with financial responsibilities, or even just having the time to convert, upload, and share the files - that it Must Be Done Now.
I enjoy sharing my ebooks, but after my experience last time where someone requested a charity book that is widely available to purchase for themselves (I have no problem if said charity period is finished and the person did eventually buy it in the long run), then I really have to consider how and if I'm going to continue sharing here as these issues sadly make me realise that we are dealing with either very greedy or very insecure people. Or magpies.
The world isn't going to implode if you don't have your new shiny thing on the same day it's released.
Just an idea, might sound a bit outlandish, but if you still haven't seen your new shiny thing within a whole week, how about buying it. And, wait for it, sharing it here. For a change. Just for once. Instead of waiting for others to do it. People like to see that and it creates a better community when we all chip in together.
And if you see a charity book or item, buy it. Don't ever ask for someone to share active charity stuff that goes towards someone's cure for cancer, or operation, or whatever. Really don't. Just buy it and do the right thing.
Hope this helps and encourages others rather than creating anything else.

Although something bizarre was said last week... One of the women claimed that the Soccer coach from episode 2, was very attractive.

WTF?

<!-- As a general rule of thumb, the trustworthy public trackers are ones like rarbg.to/index8.php and most of thepiratebay.org.

Private trackers are a whole bunch of work/upload speed or money to get into but they usually contain people who do the rips/encodes.

The torrents you can't trust usually have over 1000+ seeders or are in weird formats like wmv (scene releases are typically .mkv, user uploads are usually .mkv or .mp4).
If you don't trust a software you can run it within a virtual machine or sandbox (like sandboxie) which will prevent it from infecting your system if it is malicious. Video files are almost never malicious.

It seems LC is playing with the format a bit for their monthlies next year following the Five trilogy that's coming out from January to March. I honestly like the idea of double bills with 2 2-part stories. Although, I do have to wonder if each story's gonna have their own individual cover or it's gonna be an "overall"-type cover like LC typically does for their usual 4 1-part anthology releases. Either way, should be a pretty interesting listen.

Quite an interesting lot this time. An A-Z of bad Sci-Fi movies [thanks to Daft], rejected Disney Park ideas, lots of new Sheerluck adventures [including some Christmas stories], Mad Cow 2, Star Wars novels and advertising, parenting for gangsters, a look at those dodgy Annuals, celebrating Touchwood's 10th Anniversary, a clue about radio history, how fans of the Doctor celebrated 2013, essays, cheap toys to avoid, Hitch Hiking history and the latest bathroom read from Uncle John. Don't worry, I'm not criticizing you for sharing my friend's book for all to read. If it seemed like I was, i'm sorry. I just found it cool that it was among the other stuff you've provided. But thanks for supporting my friend. It's his first published work, and he's really wanted to write something in the Whoniverse for some time. I don't know if it would work or not, but, how about putting in the full tinyurl [space connected] into owl or simular altered link and change the tinyurl address into another. Ow.ly or such. That way, you may be able to fool your computer that it's a different file.

It seems indeed they have. Trying to beat the Christmas rush?

On another note... I just saw the Beeb put out a new recording of the "24 Hours of the Pepperpots" novel last month, but I don't recall seeing it up in any of the usual places... was going to check the bay of books for it, but it seems they're down again atm. Does anyone happen to have a link handy? If it's not conveniently shareable, please don't go to any trouble, I'm happy to wait until I stumble across it sometime. :)

I don't use iTunes at all? I use Media Player Classic Home Theater with a CCCR codec install. Everything plays then.
For mp3 audio's on my mobile, I use Mort Music Player. For videos, I plug my hard drive into my LG Blu-ray player, etc. It's rarely the files that's the problem. Usually it's what you're using to play it with. There's plenty out there. GOM Player is another. And update your computer by getting a fresh codec pack (Google CCCP and follow prompts). I would also try Any Audio Converter and see if there's a convert especially for iTunes related mp3 audio's.

What Who Lover said above me is quite right, it's easy enough to convert files. But I learned early on, it really isn't worth the trouble of getting everything to work with iTunes' idiosyncrasies. Plus, iTunes is a huge resource-hog. I would recommend using VLC Media Player - it's free, simple, cross-platform, all-format. Won't load your files into a pretty library, though.

Ah, something funny with that copy of Spuds. It's actually encoded with .wma, despite being in a .mp3 container. My reencoding software is hating this file, unfortunately. And the playback is a bit funny with audio blips when you skip around, too. Never had an audio file that dBpoweramp won't convert. MP3 Splitter & Joiner won't even load it.

Hello guys

Since September I have stayed away from this forum and also listen to other audio book than the medic. Today I came back and I am wondering if people still share on the tread or change the hiding method. I was used to (RWQ). If so could someone PM me and let me in that little secret.

Oh and by the way.
Have a nice holidays everyone.

Try Freemake Audio Converter. That's what I used to convert it, and it worked like a treat. :)

OCD of the Aspie persuasion? Yes, yes, I have it.
I'm a bit of an Aspie myself, but even I'm not that obsessive. I just sort the LC audios I have into folders in order of the release date of that specific range's initial story, and inside those folders are individual folders for each individual story. I don't bother putting them into chronological order based on Medic because it's too much of a headache for me...

Hahaha..bit of a cock up by the animators in the first episode.
When the gov enters the room Bn and Plly are wearing spacey overalls. The gov says they should get given proper clothes and we see them again in their normal gear asking what's wrong with what they're wearing. In the next scenes they're back in the overalls again! Methinks the animators got ahead of themselves!

The animation definitely could have been better. The character animation was stiff and lifeless.....and why was everyone depicted with clenched fists, it's like they couldn't figure out what do with the hands. The Pepperpot animation looked the best but overall it felt rushed and inferior to even the cheapest Nick cartoon.

So I just listened to the Potatoheads. Experience has taught me that if I don't like the first ten minutes of an audio story, I won't like the rest of it. This is a perfect example. I only kept listening in the hope of more information about the Potatoheads themselves, because they're my favourite medic baddies. There was nothing new, nothing you couldn't get from the classic TV stories. If there's anyone else who intends to listen for the same reason, be warned.

And on a silly note, this is completely out of continuity with some of the other stories about them. The Medic has never heard of the Potatoheads? Their war with the blobs is supposed to be galaxy-shaking in its size. They're one of the galaxy's major players, up there with the pepperpots and metalguys. He should have learned about them at the academy, and they should already know about his people. Things like this just really annoy me, though I know that continuity has never been one of the show's strong points.

However, I appreciate the chance to find that out for myself. Thanks to the OP!

Well that's your choice, I however am quite easy going about the continuity of the stories and just enjoy them for what they are.

Some people like to study every nuance of the story arc. That's OK, but for me, I get more fun just accepting the tales as they are. I have enjoyed all this months releases so far. Thank you all for sharing.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all. :-)

Yeah, well, maybe if folks bought instead of poached, the producers would have more funds to do a better job????????????????????????????????????????????

Hahaha...I'm waiting for the Blu-Ray set to come out in Feb.

I'm certainly not going to buy it three times - on digital when it's first released, then DVD a couple of weeks later, and then the Blu-Ray (in colour and also with the regular B&W DVD) a few months after! Plus the expensive showing at the cinema.

I wish they'd just release all the versions at the same time and let people decide for themselves which they'll buy - I reckon that would reduce the poaching!

They're not missing anything by me watching it a bit early (in relation to when I can buy the Blu-Ray). Especially when they're going to have it on free-to-air in a week or so.

(Just poking the wasps' nest with a stick here. :) )I only went looking out of curiosity. I'd read other reviews where people were ragging about how bad the animation was and wanted to see for myself if it really was as bad as they said.....it was for the most part. I didn't upload those just shared the links, but considering the classic series DVD's go from $30 to $50 dollars a pop I couldn't afford to buy them even if I wanted to so I get a hold of the episodes any way I can. If they were cheaper I'd definitely buy the whole library. Even on Amazon they're kinda pricey.

TBH, One (outside of Earth history and general science) doesn't really seem to know much about much (otherwise there's no reason he wouldn't know the pepperpots when he first sees them); it's pretty well established he was a poor study and just barely made it through the Academy by the skin of his teeth. It's only once he's Three that he becomes this know-it-all, and that could be chalked up to all the secret agent stuff Two was doing in Season 6b (which would include quite a bit of remedial re-education on galactic threats).

As for why the Potatoheads don't seem to know his people, NOBODY knows them at this point in the show's history. And even if they did, they're simply not on the spuds' radar at the moment; the blobs and the humans are the immediate threat.

Definitely my thoughts. One seemed to barely know anything about the universe at large apart from Earth and the homeworld. It all seemed perfectly in keeping with continuity, much more than I expected it to be, honestly.
