As the old saying goes, you heard it here first! The story is out in the mainstream now, for better or for worse. If this has been over a year in the making, as it sounds, they'd better have secured the prints. The idea of a forum like GB trying to squelch discussion (while saying they aren't) is laughable. It's out now, and the Beeb is going to be held accountable whatever comes to pass.

oh wow that is good news over 100 eps found? lots of hartnell and patrick fun!

Not that many sadly (as there are 106 missing episodes and they say that at least 10-15 of those were never sold elsewhere). This would fit in with DMP and MTTU being not found (a total of 10 episodes there) and rumour was two Troughtons were missing too, though which stories is anyone's guess) logic would have stated Power and Evil, but it is said some of these may have been found. The number has been estimated from as low as 20 to the 80's mark (if the 80% comment is true, this would place the find at 81/82 episodes and fit with the episodes I said being missing number wise)

Personally I think that something may have been found, but as to what, number and how long we will find that info out will be a while yet

I see Jonathan Morris (LC writer) has been quite vociferous in his declaration that the rumour is untrue. He says on twitter...

"Three words regarding rumours raising fans' hopes of missing episode recoveries: cruel, irresponsible, bullshit"

His tweet has been retweeted by Ian Levine (the horror) and commented on by Gary Russell in equally incredulous terms. I would love to believe it, but I cant believe the Beeb would be going ahead with animated releases if they had the full episodes. Imagine the backlash from fans if after Regeneration box set is released with animated Tenth Planet, the actual episode itself turns up and the Beeb re-release it again...

In other news, more details about recent cock ups at Auntie Beeb and publicity regards Who.

Both Ian Levine and Gary Russell - who I spoke to personally only recently - understand that Philip Morris is not going to release anything to the BBC with all the speculation going on. To be honest, I know now that I'm guilty of spreading the very stories that have postponed the release of these episodes. But rest assured - and I know TTROY is going to have a field day with this - that I have personally seen more than enough to prove to me unequivocally that these stories exist. I don't know how many there are, and I don't know when the news is going to break, but I am 100% sure that it is true in some capacity.

You're welcome. I was honestly considering giving the Merr-Vinn series a try sometime, but never got around to it. Mostly due to a lack of a disposable income. I'm still making up my mind about the Mr M Stone story. Great performances from the two leads - Ms B, in particular, showing she's a wider range than normally given chance to do.

But ... I'm not sure the ending really made sense. From a STORY perspective I don't think we were really shown clues, and the resolution seemed to have been made to fit the lead-up and not vice-versa. Or am I wrong in thinking these should be taken proper Murder mysteries?

I kept thinking that the best format and place for the whole thing to have been a four week serial on Radio Four/Four Extra.

So, yeah, it wasn't too bad. Sort of find myself not fussed if they don't do more, but not going to (if you'll excuse the phrase) begrudge more.

The reason that I am open minded about this is because as I have said before, I also know people in the know... at first they dismissed the story, but now they are saying something different. People have said that the beeb would not keep this quiet.... but actually YES THEY WOULD!
why? you ask...
Well if you were the commercial arm of the beeb, having invested many thousands of pounds into cleaning up audio soundtracks and paying for animated reconstructions of episodes, and believe me, these things actually take a few years to do, not just done on a whim, would you then waste that time and money and not release the product?

As an example, the final Hartnell tale with the cybs....this have been worked on for around three and half years! - cleaning the audio, testing various animation houses, settling on one of them, paying for the animation and so on...
then low and behold, the actual episode turns up!

I know if I were the people in charge it would be a case of "keep quiet and recoup the money already spent on the recon...and THEN announce the find and redo it as a special edition"

Now dont tell me they would not do that, because they would, look at all the special editions and re releases we have had thus far.

Who fans that actually buy the dvds, like myself and many others, are actually a very small group. these items are NOT made in quanities of millions of copies, just a few thousand. "Classic who" is a limited market, with a hardcore dedicated base of purchasers, who WILL buy the animated recon and then a year of two later, the complete filmed version.
But if they announced they had the episode now, that would have a severe knock on effect for the box set AND the November release, that have already been approved and mastered and waiting to be released, having had money spent on them.... money they would lose, because many would hold off and wait for the final product.

please remember, they dont care about us as fans...its a business to make money, show a profit. Our needs, wishes and desires dont matter, they just wish to prolong the revenue stream for as long as they can, to make as much money as they can, from selling us their product as many times as they can. Anyone that thinks different is living in a dream world!

on this whole issue I am in the "want it to be so, but can't quite bring myself to believe just yet" camp

(truly no offence Foe,.....I love you dearly for your contributions here. But to (probably mis-) quote James Randi (the psychic debunker): If you said you had a goat in your garden, I'd probably believe you. If you said you had a unicorn........I'd want to come see first)

But IF it were true and the Auntie Corp was all about the moolah then:

"It will take many years before some of these episodes are in any fit state to be released. A lot of them are badly affected by age and in a fragile state, a great deal of work needs to be done to make them watchable in today's hi-def world.
In the meantime we would wish to make these early stories accessible to fans, both old and new. So we have gone ahead with the release of the animated episodes so as to make these stories 'complete', allowing whole new generations to see them for the first time."

or something similar is probably being drafted in the bowels of the beeb right now

Foe, just to be clear, I wasnt attacking you or doubting your word, I freely admit I am sceptical and if true I think the way it has been handled by the BBC has been baffling (as has Dr Who's handling in general been by Beeb this year), but you would yourself admit that Who fans are going to be majorly pissed off if the Regeneration box set comes out with animated Tenth Planet...and then it is revealed that the original has been either known to exist for a year or been in the BBC's possession for less time.

I want this story to be true (Oh do I ever) but hopes have been raised before so I am over cautious. As I said many many moons ago on this forum when a row kicked off about this, you have no reason to lie and have been (alongside Bulletzen and burneggroll) one of the more prominent providers on this forum so no offence was meant. I am grateful for your links and your general input so please dont take my post as having a pop in anyway.
There's always the chance they'll release a dvd with both the original and the animated with a whoops documentary. Two disc to help recover animation costs.

I really hope this story about the recovery of lost episodes come to fruition. 1) to see a complete Hartnell or Troughton episode that previously was audio only and 2) to shut that smug Ian Levine up:

"There will always be 106 Doctor Who episodes missing". And yes you can quote me on that.
He said something like that years ago and yet we turned up an episode of Galaxy 4 and Underwater Menace.

All I need is bloody pompous arrogant troublemakers !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I firmly believe I am 99.9% correct. In the very unlikely point one percent I am wrong, then NO you cannot quote me about this person [P. Morris]

The more I think about it, the more ridiculous it is. After two years all that's been returned are two fucking Sky At Nights. Big deal !!!!!
Again: Galaxy 4 and Underwater Menace

BTW I'm looking for a medic and a vampire:

To jump into the debate,

Just ask yourself, how many times have the Peter Cushing films been released, since the original 1980's release..... I count at least, 5 video releases and 7 DVD releases.... the latest only a few months back.
Add to that the BBC 'Special Releases' of previously released DVD versions of 'Inferno' et al, and do you really think the Marketing arm of the BBC really cares if you buy the anime or live version?, they will just release both and we will either buy them or not. I have the animated 4th episode of 10th planet, and frankly it's shite. The drawings are on par with early comic stories in DWM, not even up to par with 'Real Time'... I also have a selection of "recons" of the episode, and they on the most part, would have been better for the flow and logic of the story.

So my view, if they have found lost episodes,.. expect them to be released with a fanfare, after the last of the 5 'still to be released' productions, with 10th Planet, to be released on the anniversary of Hartnell's passing......

Does anyone have these two? I'll also take any long scarf medic BF stories if one has them.

I'm not doubting your word, but... oh who am I kidding? I'm in this 100%. I won't take what you clearly state as speculation as gospel, and I appreciate your candor. With all of the rumor nonsense spiraling out of control in the media over the weekend, I was beginning to worry that the films were in the hands of a collector who refused to part with them for whatever reason. A scenario where the BBC safely holds the prints and announces their return under the proviso that it be done through the correct channels is a lot more comforting. The big forums have given way to idle nonsense, with lots of people smugly announcing that they knew it was a hoax from the beginning, and any sense of finding nuggets of truth in the rumors has become impossible.

I hope that Mr. Morris is or has been properly compensated for his labo(u)r. It's an achievement that will never be forgotten by all of us who love the show and wished all of our lives that something more could come back. That it would be more than an episode or two is miraculous.

And thanks, Foe, for being our man in Havana through all of this. We'd have been as lost as everyone else without your insight.

Obviously they've been putting this together for a while but doesn't look good for found episodes :(

I still believe. But I am happy that they've put together another Missing Episodes magazine - I just got the First Doctor one last week and it's very good. I enjoy these sorts of magazines.[COLOR="Silver"]

Well it makes good business sense to publish the telesnaps in 'Missing Episodes' themed magazines while people are still willing to buy them.
After all, this may well be the last time that some of these telesnaps are of any use or interest to anyone.
Isn't this month dragging? Will November NEVER come?

DWM want to sell magazines. Telesnap specials sell magazines. The fact that some would be redundant with missing stories found is not a problem. Consider that the BBC released audios for stories like Tomb and The Gunfighters years after they were released on video and DVD. If that's not redundancy, what is? And fair dues. They know their audience. If they ended up releasing Polo on DVD and a special edition VHS, I'd probably get both. Such is my mania.

it's the flaming, the sarcasm and the rude comments that bother me, but I've seen none of that this time round.
I think a lot of the reason for that is that

many posts over the past day apologizing to me
we are just trying to keep the temperature down. we know things got a little heated before (and after all what sounds like a joke in your head when you type, can seem very different when read by someone else, such are the perils of communication in the internet age).
Polite expression of skepticism, and an acknowledgement we could be (oh so wonderfully) proved wrong in that, is just a way to let everyone know that this is to remain a calm debate.
seems to be working too

To be honest (and assuming all your info is both true and correct), the news that the master prints are with the beeb does not make me entirely happy.
Their management of the "franchise" {oh dear lord!, I'm becoming an american....HELP!} of late has not been inspiring. The sooner they go from a few copies in one place to vast numbers available everywhere (and thus much more difficult to disappear from existence again) the better.

I'm happy there's a healthy debate going on - it's the flaming, the sarcasm and the rude comments that bother me, but I've seen none of that this time round.

I think that's because we've learnt to attack the rumour, not the person reporting it.

As for the animated eps vs. newly found eps: as somebody else already said, it will probably be a while before we see any of these eps released on DVD and the beeb is probably hoping to cash in on the 50th by releasing the animated eps now. They know that the restored eps will still sell if and when they are released.

The whole animation thing will probably have been started a couple of years ago and I'm guessing that the beeb pulling out would probably open them up to a lawsuit if they pulled out at such a late hour.

I have just made use of B.F. latest offer to get all 3 hardback Stone books, Caustic hardback by Shearman and love songs audio also by Shearman for 21 delivered. Good value i think. Offer ends midnight.

It was a BRILLIANT offer - I bought all the Bennys that were offered, and the Erim-Emm, Forrrge & Eye-Ris books as well - nineteen in all, for just a little over $120 AU! Probably a good thing all the Shawt Trippz are out of print, or I think I would've made myself broke!! :P

The Philip Morris that Foefromthefuture is on about is interviewed on the 'missing episodes' commentary on episode 5 of The Reign of Terror DVD.

He doesn't give anything away - but he does say that he checked out the vaults of various foreign TV stations while working as an oil rig worker - and that he now works as adviser to film archives.

Ttroy, I have agreed and not agreed with things you have said in the past. However all of us here would request that we dont have a repeat of prior events. You are entitled to your views and thoughts, as are we all, however I myself have a few contacts in the world of medic production, like it seems foe does. As I stated in a prior post at the time of the original "event", they knew nothing, however these people are now aware of the possibility of something happening.
I do not have all the details and do not seem to have the same level of info that foe does, but I am told that there may be something going on!
Also as stated before, If it turns out to be nothing, we have not actually lost anything that we dont already have!
As I said at the start of this post, you are entitled to your views, and they are clearly views of unbelief, and that is of course your choice, I just respectfully ask of you, that if you wish to make your views known, that you please do it in a constructive and respectful way that does not offend or anger any of the users here.

I'm pretty hopeful that we'll get an announcement about this not unlike the one about The Moonbase. The restoration team have indicated that if half a story exists in the archive, then there's a good chance it'll get the animated treatment. And now, this one does! It'll also be the earliest known footage of the Trought, which is something special, so reckon they're saving this for effect. Got to admit - it works - I'll be buying it.

(And if all those OTHER rumours turn out to be true, maybe we'll get the whole thing...) ;)

My main problem with this story is everybody is just quoting 'reliable sources' and for all we know the evidence that is cropping up in support of Foe is all based on his original story and until I see actual proof with my own eyes, I'll still take this rumour with a pinch of salt. (Sorry Foe)

Not necessarily. If the beeb are trying to keep things under wraps, they wouldn't tell all their staff about it, and he's just reporting a rumour he's seen on another web site.

If the stories have been found, I can't see any kind of press release until November and no doubt these little arguments will carry on until then.

On a completely unrelated topic (ie not related to all the discussion re rumours and message board etiquette!) there is a wealth of fan fiction on the internet and I have used some of these as the basis for a series of 'what if' covers, for primarily medic 9, but I have some under preparation for medic 8, and a whole series of medic 11 with a certain hollywood star of the fifties who may or may not have been engaged to the medic - imagine the rumours and debate at the time!!

On my DA gallery are some of the first medic 9 efforts (I'm quite pleased with these), and some random short trip covers. More on Medic 11 and MM to follow! All just for fun, no audios to back them up unfortunately.

Happy to take (CONSTRUCTIVE) feedback!

Well, from someone who doesn't have an artistic bone in my body, they're pretty good. Just one question: on the Earth and Beyond Bounty; is that Jason Momoa?

happyappy6
06-18-2013, 02:22 PM
Yes it is, with his Stargate appearance, slightly altered. The only description of the alien in Bounty is 'Rhiptogan bounty hunter' and with dreadlocks - I imagine them as a cross between Momoa and Predators! Its great what you can do when there are no restrictions! Thanks for the feedback.

I think they look great. Nice contrast between the pictures and text. I like the way things stand out. Good work. We do have some creative people on this thread. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Oh, and on a completely separate note - please wish me luck for an appointment tomorrow where a Doctor at the hospital wants to discuss some biopsy results with me. I've been so anxious about it! Thank you.

Let's see my name was mentioned by foe first in this and all i did was snicker and cough.... he brough up my name first... again it seems a double standard.. that he can call me out by name but i can't even respond without even mentioning anyone by name? well? sorry double standard being applied.

---------- Post added at 11:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:34 AM ----------

Ah great. I go away for a couple of hours and suddenly it's kindergarten time :(

TTROY, you really don't do yourself any favours. I was getting ready to defend your right to speak your mind, right up until the bwhaaa bhwaa bhwaaa. Your first post was fine and just reinforced the fact that you disbelieve the rumour 100% and personally I don't think it deserved the response you got.

Everyone else just remember, we asked TTROY to drop the subject and he did. I'm not sure who actually brought the whole thing up again but you should have known that, at some point, TTROY would have to comment.

My main problem with this story is everybody is just quoting 'reliable sources' and for all we know the evidence that is cropping up in support of Foe is all based on his original story and until I see actual proof with my own eyes, I'll still take this rumour with a pinch of salt. (Sorry Foe)

Hope I haven't rubbed anyone up the wrong way, but if I have, then I have.

and remember i refrained from ANY comment on it until Foe brought up my name... therefore it was fair game again.... sorry a double standard seems to be applied that i can be called out but not respond in any way shape or form unless it is in agreement....

I cant speak for everyone here, but as I said before, you are entitled to your views, as we all are!
But have you considered it may be better to explain your thoughts rather than just make comments that seem to get peoples backs up? you have to remember that simple text loses all the inflection and meaning of words. Words that can be read in different ways by different people! There is an art to communicating on pages like this, and it does take some time to master it!
On a personal level I have no issue with you, but I can see why your comments CAN AT TIMES come across as hostile to some people.
Also I dont personally see it as attacks on you, more defending foe, because some of your comments have seemed quite aggresive, nasty and hostile.
MANY dont believe the rumors, many hope its true, there is a whole spectrum of belief and disbelief over it.....until the beeb makes a comment to either confirm or deny it, this will continue to bubble away, however all I ask, and I am sure many others would agree, is that you maybe read through what you post BEFORE posting it, and think to yourself "could this be taken the wrong way?".
In short, there is a way to say "I think its all a load of sh1t3" without actually offending other people!
I hope you take this message in the way its meant, as constructive feedback, because I have no wish to offend you or others.

To Exterminate Me: I wish you Good Luck, Good Health and Good News.

The rumour genies are out of the bottle,
the beeb will (if true) bluster and hedge and deny, in an attempt to control and manage a big announcement,
or (if untrue) will bluster, deny and hedge in the knowledge the it is possible that some other eps may still be out there somewhere.

To tell the difference between these will be impossible.........

Given what this year is to medic fans, November would be the most obvious date for some kind of announcement (if there is to be one),
If by Dec 1 we are still hearing denials.....until then all we can do is hope.

so how do I want to spend the next few months? arguing and ridiculing? or in hope?
I think that's an easy choice.

It's the first time I've used Sendspace, but hopefully this link should work (fingers crossed). I'll leave them for 24 hours and given all the problems I've had upping them, I won't be re-upping them anytime soon so get 'em while you can :)

Just noting that SS has a daily d/l limit of 1gb so if these come to more than that no one will be able to d/l them all in that 24 hours - can you make it 24?

edit: and yes, we've all learned our lesson - don't mention certain people at all on the forum as they will consider it a challenge and a call out and will be unable to not respond in a negative fashion, even if the mention was only an acknowledgement of their knowledge that the person mentioned will have a field day with the original person's post..

not naming any names of course.

quite happy to state that i will not mention said person's name, as that apparently offends them.

*sigh*

sooooooo who do you all think is going to not be the next medic?

Thank you so much.

I'm still here, just got a shitty internet connection again and it's taken me an age to catch up on the posts.

Recipe to getting pissed -

Hit it hard for the first three to five pints. Two hours is the utmost I would allow for this manoeuvre you then gradually reduce the intake. This should allow you to be semi compos mentis enough to still be able to read and type. Now the important part is to not run out of beer before you get tired. On starting to feel tired you need at least one and a half pints left, you now return to the drinking rate you started at, then if you are still awake you should be good for another hour of online banter. Of course good is a subjective thang.

If you are using spirits to reach the desired level of pissedness then I would suggest you don't drink them by the pint. Tried it. All got a bit messy.

Anyway all the best EM

Could it be ... perhaps the person that found them was under a contractual obligation NOT to say anything about having found them? I could understand that BBC Worldwide would want to keep a lid on discoveries until they've worked out what to do with the film.

At this moment I am more confident as Ian Levine's ego and pride are the most important thing to him. For him to admit he is in the wrong makes it look genuine.
its a win win to be honest - if Who has been found its FANTASTIC, if it hasnt, we're exactly where we were AND Ian Levine has just made an enormous cock out of himself. FANTASTIC.

Meanwhile, in an undisclosed location in England, Foe From The Future is shaking his head thinking "I hate to say I told you so..."

Hahaha! :D Yeah, win-win. I am really trying not to get excited about this. It's definitely safer to remain... unperturbed.

Yet there's a part of me that's imagining how excited I'd be if they announced they had the whole of The Evil of the Pepperpots back.

Exactly what I was thinking - and the fact that the "powerful" Iany-wiany was left out of the loop for so long is friggin' HILARIOUS!! Glad to hear that ExterminateMe. Obviously you're not 100%, but things weren't quite as bad as you feared. Hope things pick up soon.

I think the beeb will wait as long as possible before making any announcements. The recons they're releasing may not sell as many if people find out that these stories are going to be released in full a little down the line. T'would be nice if they could come clean and just tell us yes or no - I wouldn't even care if they told us exactly which stories have been found (if any).

And thank you everyone for their well-wishes. My appointment's later today. It's been very touching the responses. Thank you for caring, even if you don't physically know me (ooh, I hope that didn't come off sounding wrong!).

Anyway, if this about the found episodes is indeed true no bad news today about my biopses will get me down (well as long as I don't die before seeing all the missing episodes!).

Hopefully not to late to wish you luck

Thank you so much everyone, from my heart.
I sometimes don't have much faith in Doctors (well, the medical kind that is!) after being mucked around by them so much. Since an emergency operation in November 2011 and repeated hospital admissions throughout last year (I almost died in hospital January last year) and another four operations (two within five days) last June - I had a temporary Ileostomy (like a Colostomy), it took them until last November when I got very ill and lost 40lbs to finally get a diagnosis of Crohn's. I was in remission until around April. I had a Colonoscopy at the end of May, when they took biopsies. Things don't look good - I was awake for the whole procedure (all the medication I'm on means what they give for the procedure doesn't make me drowsy) and it looked awful (I saw the pictures again today - put it this way, they're not happy snapshots!).
I'll always run the risk of bowel cancer and I rely on the Docs to manage me better. At least they appear to be more concerned about me this time.
Sorry to rabbit on about all this, I just wanted you guys to know (what an interesting thread?!!).
Thanks for all the well-wishes. It's really made my day. Because you bunch are like a family to me.
Sorry trabisty, I've only got a download of SC AT, but it's at 263kbs - is that any good? I don't have the CD though.

Doing the numbers that would mean everything up bar Mission and Plan, has been found though season 6 invasion and the original rumor was just the first 2 seasons were full, the numbers do not add up though if you also bar Evil and Power even if you would add in Pirates the numbers just don't add up, I don't think that Nation would have allowed sales of those much after Evil because of his American failed series you are still missing about 2 extra episodes I would like better proof myself a clip from one of the episodes of Toymaker which is a favorite of mine and would love to see in full but the numbers just don't add up. If some one would love to send me a pm of real proof then I would be able to belive but I have not faith in this rumor having heard Paul Vanezis confrim that there are no returned missing episodes found, he is a reliable source working for the restoration team, why would he say there have been no episodes returned and nip it in the butt if it was true. He has said that there are no Medic projects being worked on at the moment.

read this thread if you don't follow this forum it nips this in the butt with people from the restoration team saying that this rumor if false but please so me evidence then I will belive even if is just a picture of the pile of film cans I think that is all I would need and not just some random picture I could google off the internet either

Where the Cyborgpeople are concerned? The Harvest and Silver Turk spring to mind as good ones - Platt certainly has an understanding of the horror of them. The first Briggs mini-series is also very good - haven't heard the second one but I recall it getting good reviews.

https://www.facebook.com/ZaranyzerakOfficial/posts/624158684284565 - Interesting post. His first comment on his own post regards missing episodes soundtracks going out of print I also had noticed earlier in the year and thought it odd.

He also states "Purchasing of the missing material has been funded by the new Doctor Who series office AND NOT BBC Enterprises or the restoration arm of the Doctor Who releases which is why people such as Paul Vanezis and company have been completely in the dark." I think this is balls, but could this be why there was no budget to make 13 episodes?! Is Moffat a hero again?!...Like I said balls, but I LOVE THE SPECULATION!!!

It would go a long way to explain the "More Who than ever" quote Moffat said last year. It would also explain why the Galaxy 4 episode and recon were stuck on The Aztecs SE with not even a mention other than being mentioned in the special features directory on the back. The BBC has a smaller budget now than in years past, so to use the current show's budget allotment to acquire these makes sense and would go a long way to explain why things are going to be so lackluster on the new side front.

Honestly, there's easy arguments for both sides to argue, so until the BBC, and not just someone from the Restoration Team, makes an official release either way, this will just continue to snowball.

Off topic but this was an interesting story that happened to me today, about saving material that could have been lost forever. I have a disability and the school district keeps the records of all of my special education needs such as IEP's and the like for 4 years after graduation. The school district at least calls to see if you would like to keep it. They called the second time today which was good since I had forgotten I was going to go and get it. I went over today and the person had said that it was a good thing after the second call they normally put it in the destroy pile and have it shredded. I know it isn't anything about our favorite medic but it has to do with my personal history, and being a person who loves family history those records were saved for my future generations to remember me by, it last from when I was in preschool all the way though High School. I thought that was a good story the stack of papers is quite long. If I only lived back in the 60's and lived in England there would be no missing episodes of our favorite medic

That's a little offensive shiney - it's hardly 'stupid'. If people want to share something they've made which makes them happy in the hope other people might enjoy it too, and some other people actually do 'like' it and the people who don't like it just ignore it, is that 'stupid'?

Because it's fun? In my opinion, there doesn't have to be any particular point to an activity for it to be enjoyable. I'm not creative enough to put any together myself, but I enjoy looking at other's efforts.

That's what I think too. Some people are VERY creative, and a lot of the time it looks better than the original job. I take BabelColour as a good example - he did YouTube videos for his own enjoyment and the next minute he's done the wonderful restoration of colour to the Evil, Mind of DVD. Keep up the good work you talented people. Thank you.

Doesn't really mean anything. IF these stories have been found, I suspect the beeb would come down hard on him if he said anything until after any official release. Not to mention that Radiotimes isn't exactly a brilliant source of info. (Still can't decide where I stand on this story, btw).

So far OT, I can't even see it on the horizon, but..

I agree.... I think that the statement also is poorly worded/written and sounds more like someone who is angry at having his company nosed into by fans. Plus it was on the facebook page of the company via mobile.

The way I see it at the moment is this - I think this statement is either - A) True but poorly typed and the episodes are from somewhere else, B) False and the statement is there to throw everyone off the scent or C)True and No episodes have been found at all. With B, we have to remember that the BBC are under a charter to not lie to the public in statements - so ambiguously worded statements are ok as they are telling the truth in a diplomatic way should we say (basically Urquhart's motto of "You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment").

Philip Morris and his company on the other hand have no such obligations to the public, therefore can put out false statements. OK it is bad business practice but still can be done to get people away from them if they need be. Also should they need to have done this to get fandom away from them while sorting out negotiations I understand that too. It's only since the Bleeding Cool article that this rumour has snowballed into a mountain.

And like I said to my mates 'I'm just saying it isn't over till the fat lady sings.... and when I say fat lady, I mean Ian Levine dressed in drag singing'*

However Morris does say they've received 'local cultural materials sent to us for migration to a modern format'. Could mean old eps of the Doc for him to convert from old film reel to DVD. ;)

So, I was on a page for Doctor Who on Facebook - the list owner CONTINUOUSLY gets the actor's names wrong "Patrick THROUTHON, JOHN Pertwee, Peter DAVIDSON, Paul McCANN wrong. When I sent him a note "no offense, but could you please take the time to spell their names correctly? His response is "nobody cares HOW you spell their names as long as you know who we're talking about" then deletes my post. IMHO It's just lazy and idiotic it to call yourself a fan when you can't be bothered to do the research and get the information correct. It's not like the bad old pre-internet days when we were having to make our own episode guides or guess. There's WIKIPEDIA now. His latest excuse is "dyslexia" - how hard it is to LOOK THE SHIT UP?! Oh, well, now they've blocked and "reported" me - likely because I told him dyslexia was not really an excuse when we have all these resources. Get it straight - I did NOT say dyslexics are LAZY - some of my family members have "language Learning" disabilities and I have a touch of it myself. It is stupid and lazy to present yourself as a fan page and NOT TO DO THE RESEARCH AND LOOK THE SHIT UP!! How hard is that?

That's pretty much MY take on it. Seems he's "reported" me for my "hate speech" against dyslexics - utter bull because that NOT what I said, but I don't think he's more than 14 or so the way he seems to behave.

Poorly worded my arse!
note the change of tense.....
T.I.E.A DOES NOT HOLD ANY MISSING EPISODES OF THE LONG RUNNING DR WHO SERIES.
ok, but did you in the past?
the rest is just an explanation of history; how the eps became lost, that some have been found.....read carefully it could mean that the beeb has taken possession.....

OK im being overly optimistic here aren't I......but hey I'm still clinging to the "peter jackson filmed scenes with 4,5,6,7,8 and 9 in NZ that we will see in the 50th" idea.

This is interesting

Ian Levine has gone from his original Tweet earlier (now deleted) of

'Deeply sick, distressed, disheartend, all hopes dashed, all joy gone from the world. That's it. DO NOT ASK ME TO SAY ANOTHER WORD'

To

I still believe they have, but I am discussing it no more as I already said. (in reply to one person)

NO, I believe there is FAR more to this than meets the eye. After feeling deflated I realised logically there's MUCH more to it (to another)

Seems like my joke of ' it isn't over till the fat lady sings.... and when I say fat lady, I mean Ian Levine dressed in drag singing' could be more prophetic than I'd intended the joke to be

Well when I said badly worded - I did mean the way it was said, in the almost 'they were all burnt, get over it' way. But also for an official statement it was poorly laid out.

It sort of reminds me of the revulsion I feel when Person A gets upset at Person B due to Person B using a perfectly normal and regular word/concept that Person A doesn't understand and this somehow makes Person B the stupid one.

The second the word "Hater" gets used, I know I'm dealing with a true moron. It's dismissive and out-right rude IMHO. I always think "I'll bet their mommy told them that people who didn't like them were "Just jealous" instead of trying to find out the problem and they still believe it.

I hope my friends here will pardon me, but this has become complete bullshit. This story has twisted so much that it's finally snapped. I don't care anymore. I can't maintain any kind of emotional investment in this, and if they're gone, they're gone. I finally had my moment of "This isn't anything important! This is 50 year old television - go get some sunlight!"

Elsewhere in Doctor Who land, we have news of a 3D adventure (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/articles/A-New-Dimension-for-Doctor-Whos-Fiftieth-Anniversary). Steven Moffat says cleverly of the venture: "Technology has finally caught up with Doctor Who and your television is now bigger on the inside."
