For all the medic comic fans out there I recently found the Medic Comic Book Collection on the bootedbutt torrent site.It has the Marvel series,IDW including the star trek crossover and DWM plus annuals and storybooks, so if you have a bittorrent client go to bootbut.to, your welcome.[COLOR="Silver"]

Yeah it had a treasure trove of things missing from my collection. Like some of the DWM stuff. But at 30G, I'm not sure if I have the space. Then KA went down anyways. :( Hoping someone gets (or got) this and puts it up on MegaU. That way those of us with space issues can just import the files.

I apologize for veering off "audio", but it is still medic related, so might anyone have the book set of "12 stories for 12 medics"?
(And for that matter, it would be extremely appreciated if the previous edition: "11 stories, 11 medics" could also be linked)
Preferred format is mobi, but I can transfer any format to that (except pdf which gives my program fits).
Much obliged.

I realize I should probably look over at the * cough * OTHER place, but not everyone has access there and there may be others who would appreciate this upload.

Thanks in advance.

No, KA is still down. They moved to a new domain (.im for "isle of mann") as per their regularly scheduled. This was shut down a day later. According to all recent articles i have found, they do not yet have a new domain, and the .to addrsss is still redirecting to the .im address.

Really enjoyed "The Detracters", well the first three episodes anyway. Proper creepy classic 70s English Quatermass flavoured remote village chills. Lost the plot a bit at the end, but I'd have to say Braggs managed to pull off the best 3rd Doctor adventure without the 3rd Doctor story evah. Just a shame that he felt the need to overplay the exposition in the final act, an uneccessary school boy error that sucked a lot of the magic out of the story. 8/10

okay ....BBV has just annoiunced that they are bringing back P.R.O.B.E with Ms Shaw being recast...any thoughts?

On the latest release, Bill Baggs said:

"I have been longing to bring back PROBE as it has proved very popular. But since the death of Caroline John in 2012 I have been debating how best to proceed. In the end I hope that WHEN TO DIE will be seen as a tribute Caroline."

BBV's first production was back in 1991 and re-united Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant as the Stranger and Miss Brown. Over twenty years later and a slate of almost twenty productions BBV is back in business.

WHEN TO DIE is available on DVD via [email protected], Galaxy Four and in the next month via internet streaming.

Product Synopsis:

When Liz Shaw returns from a working holiday in Spain a new and deeply disturbing case awaits.

Corporal 7891Alpha has outlived his usefulness or rather the government can no longer afford to fund the medication. And that can mean only one thing... termination!

At first glance a 'government authorised execution' is a simple enough task for the Preternatural Research Bureau (PROBE) team.

But as events unfold, and the truth about Corporal 7891Alpha is revealed, the case becomes far more complex.

Only Liz's wealth of experience, courage and determination can save the day - but not before her her moral compass is knocked off course.

The art Fernando Ruiz does in AvP is the best Archie art he has ever done. I'm just saying.

Sabrina #2 took forever. Well worth the wait, I agree. Afterlife starts back up again next week.

I am a little bothered with the plan for #666 so far. Connecting variant covers with the logo for the series throughout its entire lifetime. But Dan Parent is doing all the covers and... well... I sort of hate his style.

Lots of people use the same password/login combination, or close variations thereof, on a number of different sites- even banking websites. If they can get into your email, get into your bank account, get into your ebay or amazon, you are royally zero-roomed.

The lesson here is, use completely different passwords for everything. I'm told the safest way is to use a password manager.

Password manager, pah.
If you are truly paranoid about online security, you never let your computer store passwords, not even via cookies. If you get hacked, they could be compromised.
Now, pencil and paper can't be accessed over the internet..... and the best passwords are not words, as you all know. I find the Quiller-Couch edition of the Oxford Book of English Verse particularly useful for devising mine.

Parents work is just too cookie-cutter and bland. And, while I know it is an ongoing joke in the archie community, his Betty and Veronica really are identical. His stuff just looks too much like a Pre-teen girls magazine rather than what Archie is actually supposed to be; a for everyone cheesecake.

Decarlo and Harry Lucey are my hands-down favorites. Even though, at this point, the digests are largely reprinting old stories I have seen at least a few times, I feel like their stuff has laughs, honesty and a bit of sexiness at the same time. Parent just seems to lack these things, for me anyway.

I'd love a United,Flaming kindle,Opposing Forces,Forge team up story seeing as they're all alien invasion fighters/tech gatherers of a sort.It would be neat to see them all fend off an invasion and then fight over the leftover tech. After all they have the same mission but different agendas and means to achieve them. What do you think?

---------- Post added at 05:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:30 PM ----------

CE has said before that he wasn't done with the medic, I believe that his problem was with the BBC so if LC can get permission and sign a deal with CE 9th medic audios might be a possibility. The only problem is with CE,DT and MS busy schedules and whether they can fit in any time to record any LC audios.

---------- Post added at 05:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:38 PM ----------

I believe from the announcement that these first few will be set before the end of the second series since it didn't mention when these stories would be set pre series 1 or post series 4.I guess it depends on if they can get former cast members to return for audio stories or if they've all moved on since then.I also wonder that if they have the rights to do TW if they can also do other Captain Jack stories like his pre-medic days as a time agent and con man or his Victorian TW adventures through to the present.Do you think that LC would accept any stories from JB and his sister? What do you think?

I remember reading that as well. CE said it during an interview around the 50th celebration. He'd said that he had intended to stay longer when he first agreed to do Nu-Who and that because of the way things went down, and his choosing to leave the way he did, he still felt like he and 9th had unfinished business.

I listened to the first few minutes of the first one. Pretty bad, is my verdict. The script was written to remove any sense of subtlety or ambiguity. Everything is spelled out on the most obvious level. Couldn't possibly let people actually have to think about what they're hearing. Life is too short for crap stories.

Depends what age group they were aimed at. If it was the short attention span brigade, then everything'd have to be spelled out again and again. Like the novels, for people who weren't as totally raised on Who from 1963 onwards as some of us were.

Well, you have to realize that the first play was more an experiment that anything else. Once Nick came on board things started to really roll. They did get better as they went along. Some of the stories made during series 3 and 4 are quite well done. My personal favorites are CLOUD OF FEAR, SWORD OF ORION, MINUET IN HELL, SECOND SOLUTION, PLANET OF LIES, DEADFALL, REQUIEM, and ENDURANCE

After putting together that compilation video I've finally realized out what it is about the 2014 theme that annoys me so much, it sounds an awful lot like the Delaware theme.

Speaking of the 2014 theme just found this. It's the version that includes the middle 8. RWQ . <!--http://www.mediafire.com/download/0pe9bjw1w617mlc/01+Doctor+Who+Theme.mp3--> Personally I think it's very awkwardly arranged, like the middle 8 was just thrown in as an afterthought.

I was searching to see if Murr@y's latest series music had been released yet - they're not out until later in the month - and I came across a link in itunes to some tracks with the artist named as Peter C@[email protected] of them were for things he'd read/narrated/starred in but there was one listed that was a track from the Sly Stallion boxer movie. I assume it's a different Pete Cap@ldi, but I was intrigued nonetheless as I know he'd been a punk musician in his youth (in a band with Craig Ferguson from Red Dwarf/Late Late Show/Drew Carey etc).

The track was on a whole album's worth of tv and movie tracks, which appears to be cover versions of well-known tunes. Also included is a version of the medic theme by a guy with the name (I kid you not) Tim B@ker (the @ is a replacement but the i is not). I think it's one of the worst versions I've ever heard!

BBC Radio 4 extra broadcasting hat&scarf's one oh one Destination Nerva 16th May 1800BST, repeated midnight.
Why am I munging any of this, it's a Public Service Broadcasting Corporation.......

We are all powerful time travelling androids... Who just want to share a boyfriend and have babies, and "OH, NO"! Our powers are going, going gone, so we might as well be shitty b-plot minor characters from Eastenders.

Okay and this is the worst. "We can't have two characters in all of Doctor who called Amy. It's confusing. So change her name lickity split."

Odd request, but has anyone seen any of the "Medic Files" from '06-'07? You know, the little hard back things made for kids that had general fluff and a short story or two in them about characters from the TV series. Oh, and does anyone know how to be accepted into the Expanded Universe group on VK?

Could someone put up LC's audios of the Great Detective as played by Mr. Briggs? I realize that LC has them on sale at the moment, but I honestly still can't afford them right now. Aside from "The Spotted Wrap", which was offered for free and I snatched up straightaway. Oh, and I found the "Judgement" box set and the story about the sinister sailor elsewhere so I don't need that those, either.

Oh it's worse than that. They came under legal abuse from the Beeb, which is why they made their group closed to the lookiloo public last year.

They did what they had to do to survive.

More power to them.

They're not letting any one new in there under any circumstances.

6 months ago when it was an open group, in theory, you just had to push the "join group" button.

But it's more than possible Foru, because they are awesome, and I know only crumbs of what really happened, that they also did make their prospective new members jump through an extra hoop when they still had an admission policy.

Judging by the amount of thanks and “likes” I've received, this must have been a big one everyone was waiting for. I didn't think this one would be so anticipated. I figured no more than twenty “like”/thanks for this title.

I picked this one up because I like most of the characters. I follow Homes, the Painted Man, and WeeAnna. Never got into the IW series, though I have enjoyed her when she crossed over with the Medic. I've liked BS since the NA novels, though I don't follow her audio adventures as closely.

Pointless was a meh series for me, though I thought the characters were better written for Spheres of LC. I think that's because this recent set had a different writer as opposed to the one who wrote for Pointless.

Overall, I enjoyed this set. I listened to it in two sittings. The half hour format worked well and seemed to give the overall story a quick pace. I would chalk this one up as a win for LC.

I really liked sselecarG. Maybe it's because I haven't heard it before? The Detective I'm not into in any medium, though once again LC does a property better than Moff. :) I'm not into Painting Guy either, especially when he got a whole ep of Archologist devoted to plugging him. Wild Time was good, though I don't like too much deliberate quirk. Austrian City wasn't bad, but she has such a terrible accent. She's American, she shouldn't sound so fake! And Archeologist, I realised during the last series that I wasn't into her.

So, sselecarG was the standout. I wouldn't mind hearing more, if anyone wants to share.

Okay, I'm going to be a bit controversial and state that these Medic crossovers with past companions have been a bit rubbish so far. I haven't enjoyed either. The one with Jo was boring, and the newest with Six, the Highlander, and space babe was a bit confusing....at least towards the end there. I thought I'd missed something with the way it was jumping back and forth like that. And, as much as it pains me to say, both Miss Manning and Miss Padbury just couldn't pull off convincing performances. They've both aged too much vocally to the point where neither sounds anything like their characters anymore. Wendy's daughter sounds more like Zoe than she does.

they all have aged bbhut siome have a version of the audio voice that they fall into.....Fraze doesn't sound like he did but he gives an audio version of his character that works. Anneke does as well. To my ears ms Feilding is the most changed from the 5th medic. The one who has aged the most but managed to sound like herself is Ms Vicki --- she has her own voice but then she does her character almost spot on.....Ms Bryant does this as well... and you really hear the difference in performance and the interviews.. .... Ms Watling is the one that has changed to most... [possibly why they don't use her as much as Ms Padbury]

Without wishing to open up too much of a proverbial can of worms..i think that some of the voices have changed a bit, although for me it doesnt ruin it as i presume that they
are visiting the Medic at a later time of their earth years (even though box cover shows younger selves)
I havent listened to the stories in full yet but i`m ok with it.

Not heard 199 yet but, to a degree, I agree with the general sentiment. I find that I'm OK with them when they're in the CC format as they are more-or-less contemporary characters narrating their past selves so they will sound a bit different. But it does take a bit more suspension of disbelief when they're meant to be playing as 'on screen', but thankfully the stories so far have been generally good enough to cover any distraction by that.

Oddly enough, the only one that's really made me break out of the story due to voice actor really no-longer 'fitting the part' has been the titular character of the B's7 stories. Chap has an incredible voice, but he really doesn't sound like his old self at all any more.

I've always thought Leela sounds nothing like her TV version but seems to get away with it. She's got that 'speaking deliberately like you imagine savages meeting civilization might do' down to a tee but that isn't what she was like on the telly. I think Peri probably benefits from having to have put on such a different voice in the first place. I'd not really noticed it with Tegan before but I think you're right.

The Doctors' voices have deepened too. They are not quite the same as when they were on TV either.
It's a natural aging thing.

Oh, I think we all appreciate that. But I was thinking earlier that a lot of the time it's Context that helps a lot, too. When you've got the regular teams together the ear is able to smooth-out the differences, but with ones like Jo+7 the differences are more noticeable.

Agreed; it really doesn't work! I find Jo, Mike & Zoe very unconvincing.

the thing is some of them are doing impersonations of their voice which work in context...and others seems to be record with the pitch shifted upwards.....i still feel the best one are Llalla and the Late Ms Tamm....... i agree about Jo and Yates though.... the Megastory was brilliant but their voices took me out of it

However it doesn't really apply with 8 ... 7 and 6 seems only slightly different.... 5 you have to buy into his volcal quicks and 4 seems to get more and more sounding like his old self with every audio.... [the Audio go series as well as his first BF season were like bad Culshaws]

Yes, there's a marked difference between the larky Whore-net's Nest and LC's 4th outings. I thought they might have employed a gentle bit of pitch shift, an acceptable bit of studio chicanery that's widely used, but I think it's more down to a more disciplined director/producer reigning him in.

I like 5 (more so than I did on TV) but you can almost count the cigarettes he's had in the rattle of his voice. I was listening to Fantasm-a-gloria the other night (LC 002 well worth a re-listen) and he almost sounded as he did in the 80s. Sixteen years on, and many Benson and Hedges down the line, I feel like I'm listening to an Alt-Doctor from the Unbound series. Nothing wrong with that, in some ways it's almost better!

The companions are more problematic. I love Katy Manning, she's a force of nature and a dynamo in whatever audio she appears, but hearing her trying to upshift her voice to a naive 20-something is not unlike watching your gran struggle into a tight latex thong.

Look, it's sci-fi. Just go with it. ;-) Or more specifically, we know that these are older actors now. Would you rather they use sound-alikes? Or that they not do these at all? I guess if you don't listen to them, then it's the same as if they hadn't done them at all. But if you want to ever hear stories with these doctors and/or companions, this is really the only option available to us, at least until someone actually discovers time travel!

I don't need them to sound exactly like they did back in the day to enjoy them. Look, it's all fiction. Adric wasn't really a kid from another dimension. He was a British kid. Peri wasn't American. She had a ridiculously fake American accent. None of the Doctor actors are aliens that are hundreds of years old. It's all make-believe. But somehow, we managed to enjoy it.

Just go with it and enjoy it.

Yes, I totally agree. But time is a little more unforgiving when it comes to female voices.

I listen as hard as I can with fan-boy filters on (the kind of filters they should have switched on in the studios) but it kind of breaks the fourth wall when your unwitting damsel in distress sounds like a croaky old bird who could handle herself quite well with a swish of a walking stick and a nudge from a mobility vehicle.

I'd much rather LC wrote roles for companions at the age that they are than force them to Juve-down. Why can't the Eigth Medic go on a nulti-episode with a mature Joe?

I'd also like to thank you for the recent "like" notice, reputation comment, and posting of thanks for the two items that I posted recently that I don't doubt you downloaded.

Seriously, a little gratitude works wonders. I like sharing with polite people.

Keep in mind (and this goes for others) when an item is shared, many people are downloading something a person paid for. With money out of his or her own wallet. With income that was budgeted for the item. I understand that many people do not have the same financial means as others. I was in the same boat a few years ago. That's why I share now. To give back to a community and individuals who were generous to me. Just keep one thing in mind, please: we are not machines and there really is no obligation to share.

Enthusiasm is one thing, but posting when an item is released, even a post stating "I noticed that LC has released Medic blah, blah, blah" comes across (to me anyway) as pushy. We all have the Internet too. Most of us visit the LC site regularly and can see the item is released. Give the item a day or so to post on this board. Some people need a little longer to post. Some like to (understandably) listen to their purchase first before posting. Fine. If after a few days nothing pops up, by all means inquire. Just don't post an inquiry hours after the item is posted on LC. It starts to feel pushy rather than enthusiastic. Thanks!

I'm done with my soapbox moment. Have a nice day.

You've mentioned that you have a substantial collection so why not be brave and start posting a few links here and there, it'd be much appreciated. As for "inexperienced", I'm no technical genius but it couldn't be easier. Also I think most people on here are fully aware of release dates so mentioning that something is out shortly after release just comes across as indecently hasty badgering which I'm sure is far from your intent.

Same here. Which was a shame as was rather enjoying the story until the last episode. Feels like there's a scene missing somewhere that sets up the loop properly.

You've been unlucky, mate! At least 1-2 posts go up, every month, just saying that the latest release is out & nobody gets any grief for it. I don't know what's happened this time but whatever it was, it was just bad luck that you caught it....

Okay, playing Devil's Advocate here and thinking out loud. Please don't hit me.

It can also be argued that sharing stuff on much bigger sites is really cutting into the producer's income stream and reducing the chances of more good stuff being made in the future. I think here, downloads don't regularly go into hundreds (correct me if I'm wrong, guys) so to my mind come into the 'sharing a CD with your friends' category. Still strictly illegal, but .....
I know some firms have been around the big torrent sites warning about the financial consequences for them of rampant sharing. But there are still so many people who feel entitled to something for nothing, especially when it comes to the internet. I think of torrents as virtual shop-lifting, really. Not nice at all. Bigger producers than our own favourite (mainly of movies and popular music) have even managed successful legal action, hence the blocked IPs in various countries, but some just don't have the spare money for that.

So, just because something is for sale as a download doesn't automatically mean that others have the right to pick it up for free. Be grateful when that opportunity arises, but also be aware of the possible implications further down the line, and try to buy stuff from the producers yourself from time to time. You know it makes sense.

Once upon a time there was a cowardly person who tried to use the oven. They found the oven rather easy to use and find and soon found other oven friends. However, after recent hearings and stories of the very recent letters of warning sent from the store (of unverified origin), the cowardly person fled to the opposite side in fear and was never seen again in public. But they also wanted other people fond of bread including bread loving friends to have a nibble. 5 nibbles.

Annnnnywaaayyy .... found myself surprised by 'Planets of LC'. Yeah, it's a here's our ranges anthology, but it all hung together pretty well and the maguffin never felt forced into the story.

But it did remind me why I really can't get on with 'Pointless' ... Abby's actress constantly sounds bored stiff and seems like she'd rather be elsewhere.

That aside, not a bad collection really.
