I heard that was a late addition to the script following the airing of the episode. Same with the change in cover art.

Just checking, and I'm probably going to make myself look like a complete idiot (I haven't heard the story yet), but was the pyramid in the original art supposed to be a natural-state TARDIS, and then it was replaced with the TARDIS as it looked in Name; or is the pyramid some other element from the story?

I think to message someone "cold" asking for a FREE copy of what they have paid THEIR MONEY for is rude, inconsiderate and selfish.

Couldn't agree with you more. It's pretty obvious that the pm system is being abused by some - with that we can all agree - and if you are in the habit of pm-ing people to ask for stuff because you think they may have something you can't wait a little while for, then you should maybe rethink your forum etiquette. This isn't aimed at any one person - just an observation.

evilmonk
11-16-2013, 02:00 PM
Goldie didnt ask for sympathy and I apologise to her for dragging her into my post!

On a forum where the LC stuff ALWAYS comes...It may take time...It may take longer than usual some months, but it ALWAYS comes...I think its a bit brassnecked to message people directly - people who have been good enough to supply us readily already this month - asking for LC releases.

Unless you have a good private message/friendship with the poster and talk to each other about things other than "Where is the monthly?" (which I appreciate some may have and to those I DO apologise), I think to message someone "cold" asking for a FREE copy of what they have paid THEIR MONEY for is rude, inconsiderate and selfish.

However, this is solely my opinion and not that of Goldie2012. So if you want to spend pages of waffle ripping the piss out of someone, address it to me and not Goldie.

Alternatively, you could just let it slide as someone's opinion that they are entitled to have, privately think of me as a colossal asshole and not clutter the forum up with the pros and cons of why I am such a dick for mentioning it in the very month the anniversary of our favourite tv show occurs.

If it helps you not feel offended, please always remember the quote of Harry Callahan from "The Enforcer" - "Opinions are like assholes...everybody's got one". Peace and love y'all...

I've sent you a pm katrinaau - and if you read my first post when i commented you might just see my point...as i said, PM's flying around in ALL directions...

I'd totally do that, I really would. But I'm Brazilian, and i don't know if you are aware, but the currency used in Brazil is like 2 times less valuable than the one used in US, and even less valuable than the one used in UK. Like US$ 1 is worth R$ 2,21... So yeah, something that costs 30 dollars to you, costs 60 reals to me. Also, I just moved to a new city, and I am now living alone, without my parents, and trying to make a living with singing and writing. I have no money to buy the digital ones because i have no credit card at the moment, and i have no money to buy the phisical ones because the shipping is expensive.

I'm sorry I can't buy from big finish. But I will try to listen and show my love to the series anyway.

The 8th's popularity has SKYROCKETED since NotD. It is almost insane really. Public awareness of him is crazy right now in the States.

Can't stand it, I'm afraid. I love comics & superheroes but I hate origin stories - they're tedious, unnecessary & get in the way of a decent plot. Plus, they prevent the hero from appearing in his own movie for, at least, the first forty minutes! And this was nothing but origin story & an origin story that's been done to death! I really don't get why, with 75 years of Superman stories to tell, they just keep making the same one, over & over & over again. It's not like anyone's going to walk out of the cinema saying, "Oh, so he's from another planet & that's why he's got all those powers. I thought he looked alot like that reporter..."

And that's what I thought of Man Of Steel. So, until Doc Ock kills Peter Parker, Make Mine Marv... oh, hang on.

Congratulations on being my first Laugh of the Day sir.

My one major issue with Man of Steel is what he does in the end and how it flies in the grain of the only superhero that DC actually owns who has always stuck by his mandate in EVERY version of him. Sadly, that killed the movie for me, and I can't really even see letting my little boys watch it due to that.
-------------------

A bit more about 8;
I imagine SOMEONE at the BigB is thinking of the lost chance they had with #8 when they abandoned him. That said, I think PM *really* has benefited from his Medic aging with LC. And by coming into the modern series when and how he did, he really managed to tick off all the right boxes in peoples minds as to what an older Medic should be; Cool, Tormented and willing to do anything for what he thinks is Right.

My conclusive statement on this fangasm; what a great week.

i liked Man of Steel. Though I didn't really think the actress who played Lois fit the part. And the fight between Kal and Zod reminded me greatly of those old Godzilla movies where the giant monsters fought in the streets.

That's why it took me a long time to finally see Batman Begins. It wasn't until after I watched The Dark Knight that I sat down to watch Batman Begins. I've still only watched Batman Begins twice, where as I've watched The Dark Knight so many times. The origin stories of both Superman and Batman are so well known, sitting through an origin story movie can be tedious. I can get through the Richard Donner film because that was the first Superman movie I saw, so there is a nostalgia feel.

Actually, I just fell in love with Doctor Who because of all those tumblr gifs, and because of a fanvid with the song "Until It's Time For You To Go", which is an Elvis song, but it wasn't elvis singing on the video. Anyway, fell in love with the show, watched EVERYTHING from the new series (10th is my fave), and then i started looking for the classic era. I've watched the first season of the first doctor, and then moved on to the movie while I was downloading the 2nd season. That's how i came across eight, and I loved him right at the first time I saw him, but sadly there was only a movie. So I tried to dig up comic books and books to read but... I can't find anything. So yeah, Eight's popularity surely did rise with Night of the Doctor, but it was not why i grew fond of him.

Watching Man of Steel right now. Haven't finished it yet, but what do people think about it?

Hated it. Thought it was sloppily made. Aside from all of the obvious flaws, the biggest problem for me was –
The idea that Zod is some sort of monster that needs to be destroyed is COMPLETELY undercut by the premise of the movie.
Kryptonians don’t have free will. They are programmed to do and be certain things. Zod doesn’t have a choice but to do what he is doing. To make the obvious comparison – Zod from Superman 2 is a monster. He is greedy and selfish and hurts people just because he can. Zod in Man of Steel is just following his programming. He is no more a villain than a honeybee that stings you for getting too close to its hive.

if Man of Steel had been 20 minutes shorter and hadnt involved the saviour of the Human Race using General Zod as a wrecking ball to destroy Metropolis and half of its city I would have enjoyed it more.
The best part of that sequence for me was, as Zod and Superman were bouncing back and forth across however many square miles of Metropolis destroying everything in their path, Lois was able to stay a couple steps behind and show up right at the end.

Hated it. Thought it was sloppily made. Aside from all of the obvious flaws, the biggest problem for me was
The idea that Zod is some sort of monster that needs to be destroyed is COMPLETELY undercut by the premise of the movie.
Kryptonians dont have free will. They are programmed to do and be certain things. Zod doesnt have a choice but to do what he is doing. To make the obvious comparison Zod from Superman 2 is a monster. He is greedy and selfish and hurts people just because he can. Zod in Man of Steel is just following his programming. He is no more a villain than a honeybee that stings you for getting too close to its hive.

You know - I'd never thought of it that way. That's a very interesting take on it, and one to definitely think about when I watch it again.

On the whole, I thought the movie LOOKED superb, but, wow, was I bored. Primarily, I guess, as others have noted because it meant sitting through yet another Origin Story. It just never really engaged me properly.

on the upside, I ordered Worzels one for next month whilst I was at it, so with luck I will beat the bullet (see what I did there!) next month lol!
Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR YESTERDAY, my dear friend, mine was the 2nd of this month.... seems all great things are born in November!

I mean no offence to anyone, except maybe Zac S, when i say MoS was an utter piece of drek. Even completely divorced from the character of Supes, which I never saw in this movie, it is just a horrible movie that doesn't make a lick of sense.

Just one of many examples - A teacher lets her entire class follow the crying emo kid into the hallway. (Would never happen.) Then the kids whisper about how he's a freak, and lil Kal can hear it because he has super hearing. Where did you grow up zac? Kids don't whisper about other kids, they point and laugh in their faces, and loudly cll tehm names I can't say here. Every scene that isn't a fight is like this. No human in the movie acted like ANY person I've ever met on this earth. (For another example see how soldiers talk to their superiors) Every moment of dialogue seemed stilted. And don't get me started on why Zod would insist on bringing Lois Lane aboard, so that she could ruin his plans. Huh?

Also, ?Man of Steel? is, hands down, the greatest movie I have ever seen | The Raw Story (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/11/13/man-of-steel-is-hands-down-the-greatest-movie-i-have-ever-seen/)

This is just an opinion. And I'm voicing it because we were asked, and I obviously feel strongly about this. Thanks for reading my little rant.

Also, HAPPY BDAY BULLETZEN!!! :D And a huge TY to you and Goldie.

Just checking, and I'm probably going to make myself look like a complete idiot (I haven't heard the story yet), but was the pyramid in the original art supposed to be a natural-state TARDIS, and then it was replaced with the TARDIS as it looked in Name; or is the pyramid some other element from the story?
The pyramid was the original natural-state TARDIS look, but they changed it following the airing of "The Name of the Doctor". I personally like the cylinder look better. I mean, it IS described as a "time capsule" in some places after all.

But I completely understand you.

Just so you know, the first 50 main range titles are permanently only 2.99 for download, and you won't have to pay for shipping. Depending on where you live, you'll pay that 2.99 in one of several currencies. In the UK, it's in pounds. In the rest of Europe, it's in Euros. In the US and Australia, it's in our dollars. I'm not sure which currency you'll be paying in Brazil. US dollars, perhaps?

If you wanted the 8th's stories, his earliest ones are #'s 16-19, 28-33 and 50. All of these are at that price.

They're also having a sale right now with all of the separate 8DA's for only 4.99, although they sometimes run better sales with whole seasons for slightly less.

If you're into torrents, I know there's a torrent that people have posted here that has just about every medic audio ever. It's massive and would take days, weeks or even months to download, even with a super fast connection. But you can always set your torrent software to just download (or at least to prioritize) the files that you want.

Hope this helps.

Thanks to the Golden girl and Bullet for today's good stuff and all of yesterday's as well.

But Goldie dear, I do remember in a prior post of yours some two weeks or so ago, you did indicate that instead of waiting for LC's newest installment of the Painted guy, you went out and got it yourself. Good for you.

However you said you couldn't share it at that time because of problems with I guess your ISP. Problems I presume now with your current generous shares that are hopefully rectified.

If that's so and I also presume that posting it here would not require any additional expense on this month's tight budget for you, would you be so good to UL it now for us to end the pins and needles we've all been feeling waiting for the tempting morsel to delight our ears.

Thanks ever so and best wishes on your new and outstanding gig.

Watching Man of Steel right now. Haven't finished it yet, but what do people think about it?

The first 15 minutes (on Krypton) are bloody awful - bad dialogue, bad acting (hello, Russ), and ugly design work, but once we get to eartj, it improves immensely, and I enjoyed it very much. I agree that the Marvel movies are aeons better - loved the new Thor, great fun. And my cinema was showing the 50th Anniversary DW trailer on a loop in the foyer, too!!

I enjoyed Man Of Steel. Yes it was another origin story for Superman that had already been done by the original films and even Smallville, but it was a fun film and much better than Superman Returns. On the whole 'out of character' moment at the end, it actually happens in Superman Volume 2 #22 from 1988 when Superman executes Zod and two other Kryptonians who escaped from the Phantom Zone. So while it wasn't in character with what the movies have portrayed in the past, it has happened.

I think the whole point of that scene is the dilemma it raises and his REACTION to doing it, his self-disgust and horror at it having come to that, and thus being the origin of his oath never to let it happen again.

Also, I must say that I thought Henry Cavill was bloody good in both roles - best Supes/Kent since Chris Reeve...

HG Wells has been released by LC for d/l :)

Just finished listening to it from the earlier up on here - very nicely done, I thought. Everything wrapped up nice & neatly, and Jenna's a lovely little reader.

But, just like the first one, it would've been nice if the composer had actually LISTENED to "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" - it sounds NOTHING like that!! It's like having a character put on "With the Beatles" and you suddenly hear sitars and backwards guitar. A small thing, I know, but as a music freak it really bugs me - and it's bad research...

Quite right, on both counts. I had forgotten about the reverse acronym.
Still, there sure were a lot of those filing cabinet units around on Gallifrey for them to all be SIDRATS.
Perhaps those were meant to be the SIDRATS the authorities had recaptured from the War Dude, just prior to recapturing the Doctor?

Either way, I'm glad Nu-Who didn't feel bound to stick with such a, er, whimsical design.

I enjoyed it, but Mr.Hines was obviously pushed to his limit during this tale, either due to unknown variables or maybe even due to recording for this and other tales. I constantly heard the Scot in his #2. Pretty good otherwise, but that reeeally stuck out for me.

please support this 8th Medic related petition (& post this elsewhere)

https://www.change.org/petitions/steven-moffat-paul-mcgann-create-a-series-of-live-action-eighth-doctor-adventures

I would love it, I really would. I think a reasonable goal, given the success rate of internet petitions and the viewing audience of the Medic worldwide would probably be about 10 million sigs...
But it is still great to see PM getting such support now.

Thanks for the uploads Bulletzen and Goldie. This completes a great weekend for me, the highlight of which was being hugged and kissed by Katie Manning. She's fantastic and confirmed there was more bus driving flower to come and a sequel to her CC story involving the very hot things.

We pay in Reals (the brazilian currency), well, 2.99 is really cheap, and 4.99 too. But do they take other kinds of payment that are not "credit cards", because i don't have any. Anyways, I'm downloading via torrent because i also like to know if i like the title before i buy it. You know, to avoiding buying stupid titles like "Iron Man 3". I still can't get over that movie. But thank you very much, yeah, i'll try to buy the ones I like <3

But do they take other kinds of payment that are not "credit cards", because i don't have any.

They do take PayPal, and the first 50 monthlies are available via iTunes.

(Though they can be a PITA to find and LC have a very odd "we're not telling you!" attitude towards actually telling people what's on there and where they can be found!)

Paypal doesn't. You just need a bank account.

Itunes used to be free, or free without a credit card, and then I tried to sign up a week after they changed policy and I cried.

Both PayPal and iTunes have 'pre-paid gift cards' available (in the UK at least. I assume elsewhere) - I've never used the PayPal ones, but using iTunes Gift Cards you don't have to have a Credit Card registered.

Indeed - even a web series would be good, or even a special or two each year, or a 'flashback' episode once or twice a season (which would kinda fulfil the Doctor-Lite idea, as PC would get the week off)...

The Idea of the one off episodes is a good idea the idea of a split season would be too bad if you had 10 episodes in the autumn - The Christmas Special and then a mini season of 3 episodes in the spring. or perhaps they can use McGann is a "classic" style filling the nitche of the Sarah Jane ADV. --why not use the budget of the SJA/Wizvs Aliens to do a MgGann season. It isn't like they won't earn all that money back in DVD sales and downloads

guygardener

Everything else was failing, so everything including the profitable medic was told to trim the fat and reduce over heads. saving money is more important than making money, since the first goal is lose money at a reduced rate and only once then that is achieved they should aim for breaking even and then if all seems well, the idea of making some cash might seem worth while.

They don't want one golden goose.

They want a thousand chickens.

They want a good well oiled machine that isn't broken.

From the feel of things, we're probably just past half way through a 5 year plan.

Imagine if every few years or so the Beeb gave the reigning Medic a rest and produced a set of stories with the past Medics instead. Sort of like what the Big F does, but on TV and without being restricted to the classic ones only.
We get the same amount of Who, the current actor might last longer, and we get to see the old ones more often.

One of my favorite Eight audios. I remember listening to it for the first time when I was still getting used to listening to these audio dramas. I was out camping in an RV with my mom and dad. I was sitting out in the fresh air listening as the story unfolded. It made me laugh, made me gasp, but I was engrossed all the way through. It was fantastic. I read recently that Rob Shearman wrote it as a love letter to the Seven TV story "Spectral Luminescence". Now that I've actually seen that Seven story, it kinda shows.

Watching Man of Steel right now. Haven't finished it yet, but what do people think about it?

So, until Doc Ock kills Peter Parker, Make Mine Marv... oh, hang on.

i thought it was alright, i'm just really excited about the sequel...FINALLY after all the years of waiting, we're getting a LIVE ACTION Batman/Superman movie.

One Fine Time Lord - Synopsis:

“History Will Be Written”

Gallifrey: The Ancient Times.

Long ago, Time Lord society honoured its oldest surviving member, the last of the ‘great’ Lords of Time.

One man had sought to bring about peace across the planet by uniting the houses at war and introducing a ‘non-interference’ policy, thus ushering in a new era of harmony. His name - Lord Archeron.

But with his life’s work “almost complete” he strikes up a partnership with a young boy who marvels at this man’s legacy and an uneasy friendship ensues with the mighty sage.

Soon however, the ancient Time Lord will reveal his true ambition for the people of Gallifrey and the boy must make the ultimate decision. The price for peace across the planet might be higher than anyone expected...

Join the most powerful story in Time Lord history.

I'm only 15 minutes in to it, but it does sound very professional, and it's always fun to have additions to the 50th celebrations.

In other news, I'm still slowly working on the Massive Crab Fright on the 2nd medics run, but I keep getting about 10 minutes through the editing process before feeling like it's a slog. Not sure what it is about that story, as I remember enjoying it. Also, slight update in the episode list, specifically 8's run. I've placed Fire at the Finish towards the beginning, and added a buffer season to account for the dim occulation orb series, and potential stories between them and a certain night.

I Believe you'll find all the episodes from the classic era on torrent. It takes a bit depending on the file and on your internet connection, but you know. :3

Good advice. Especially as there's a re-post of EVERY episode currently underway, and they're just doing 'The Krotons'

One thing you have to admire about DT is that his love for the show does allow for some gentle ribbing of it ...

Thanks a lot!

About the story..
Bringing back all Doctors and all companions for that... That was awful. Truly awful. And painful to read, too.
The only good sides were to have Frobisher back and... well, that pretty much sums it up for me. Hope they won't make another one like this with Calpadi Medic...

I will begin watching aUC shortly, thus bringing my viewing of every single episode of The Medic (expect apparently f'ing Remembrance) To an end.
