They've got a stack of freebies on there (inlcuding the ones from the DWM a few months back), but not those listed by katrinaau.....
They used to have them available on their podcast pages, but they disappeared when the site got upgraded.
Hopefully they'll put them back up on their podcasts or soundcloud at some point for legit download.

About those 2 bright lips...
Is it just me or does this make Evening of the Medic pack even more of a punch? Liv almost seems like a proto-Cass in the second story, and his insistence to The Optometrist that he's not part of "the war", despite the war practically being focused around him. LC is doing a great job of skirting just barely at the limits of their contract with the Double B See here, and by the end, he's really starting to seem low on hope. If it weren't for that cliffhanger with the Nurse, and the fact that there are two more Bright Lips scheduled, I could almost see this leading right in to his last day with the Rank Sisterhood. Bravo.

That said, I feel like they should have started with that second episode, only having him encounter the Nurse later on, near the end, then running as normal, with the first episode in N7 being placed last. The ending where the Optometrists' assistant tricks the Nurse and kidnaps her felt a bit forced, but it means we'll probably be seeing the homeworld and the Optometrist some more in the next two, and some deeper look at the Chronobarons desperation.

And finally, is it just me or was there a timeline shift at the end of the final episode? In part three, Liv acts as if the pepperpots continued on in that system, with the planetary weapon intact. But waking up shortly they go to fight the excellence, apparently the planetary weapon is destroyed anyway? I was half-asleep while listening to that part so I might've missed something. Overall it was much better than the last bright lips, I thought.

Not quite that bad, but if they're going to keep using her for 'emergency companion when regular actress isn't available' they really need to start giving her a proper personality and stop writing her out for most of the story.

I know some folks reckon that she's going to bet set-up for a fall (possibly as part of the Where's Peri storyline?) but, honestly, LC really aren't make it easy to care about her. Bit of a waste of a perfectly fine actress to give her such a paper-thin character that does seem to get sidelined all the time.

Actually hearing the man as himself finally, talking about his adventures as a mountaineer and explorer, I could totally see Peri living happily ever after with him, although Brian is not his character from Doctor Who, who was to say the least functionally retarded somewhat.

The Master escapes UNIT in "Mastermind".

The Sixth Doctor begins Travelling with Flip.

After Suffering at the hands of Erys, Flip begins to become increasingly unstable and erratic.

Confronting The Master on a distant planet in a distant time, Flip finally breaks. She violently attacks The Master and eats one of his hearts before leaving him for dead. (Thus does he regenerate into the RTD Master).

The corruption in The Masters heart changes Flip until ....

The way Peri was written out of the series was a low point in the shows history for me. The whole Peri and Ycarnos thing is just ludicrous in my opinion.

Why would Peri settle for a blood soaked warrior king with the intellect of a walnut?

Why would The Doctor, having discovered the truth, then decide not to rescue his friend?

It sums up the poor writing and direction that the series had taken in its later years, Im neither a fan of the production values nor the writing abilities of many of the shows later stories, though thankfully there are exceptions to this, but season 23 is not one of them.

Peri deserved a better write out then she was given, I wish LC could rectify this in some way.

Season 23 was a low point, for sure. I was one of the people who (mostly) enjoyed season 22, so to see the show come back and be, to my mind, so obviously fumbling for a direction was difficult. I hate the way Peri was written out, too. Wasn't it, to a certain extent, addressed in P and the Pisces Pardoxical Event, that CC? I only listened to it once, but I recall enjoying it because it bothered to do something with the character - with her later life, I mean. (These days, I get so little time to revisit things - so little time; seem to be forever busy!)

Aorizing - much appreciated!

Edit - Nobber made the same observation about that CC - definitely worth a listen if you haven't heard it.

I thought the way they originally wrote her out (with her death) was damn good but the last minute changes were a massive cock-up typical of the JNT era! I also think that BF's attempts to clear the matter up have, so far, just added to the mess!

The P Paradox was a folded over appendix of dead time. It only happened if Peri didn't extensively travel with the Medic.

Her final flight escapes my recall.

In eremin's last adventure, when she becomes queen of Pelidon... Peri says, final words of the play "Don't worry, I'd never leave you to live life as royalty" or words to that effect.

Yes your probably right, they simply can't omit tv canon, but maybe they could pen a story that sees the events of the trial partialy rewritten by the time lords for some reason. After all the Moff has done it several times already, and that way they are adding to the story rather than omiting it.

That is more likely, we will have to see what happens with the upcoming adventure to find Peri.

10 reasons Peri became Ycarnos' wife.

1. The Bling.
2. The Power.
3. A warm bed.
4. Saving the planet from being ruled by an idiot.
5. The sex.
6. The castles.
7. The title.
8. To save the planet from really bad dudes.
9. Blackmail and threats.
10. American Manifest Destiny.

(No, you can't rationally love someone 100 IQ points stupider than you are as a lover and equal.)

Unfortunately, I think that's where Piscon Paradox went wrong. Instead of resolving the TV canon, it just said, "Forget about that Peri, we've got some others that might be more to your liking..."

I don't see the need to keep over-complicating things. The easiest solution would be to have The Doctor visit Peri The Barbarian Queen & give her a choice on what to do next. But, as you've already said, we'll have to see what happens in the upcoming story...

IIRC the novel fixes it somewhat, by somehow rejigging "living as warrior queen" into "manager of King Yrcanos, the professional wrestler, on Earth".
It was this result I encountered first, so when I watched the actual episode I was somewhat nonplussed. I prefer the Peri-as-manager story, although even that's a bit far-fetched for a botanist.

I wouldn't mind a solo adventure seeing what Soolin was up to during this era, because she is fantastic... And have her 5 feet away from an adventure with the old crew but they never quite meet.

To be fair, Peri existed solely for eye-candy purposes in the actual series. So it isn't like The Powers That Be had any interest in doing anything with her other than making use of her assets. *cough*

The LC stuff has really done the character, and Nicola herself, a lot more justice than the B ever allowed.

Couldn't agree more! I think poor Peri is doomed to be remembered because of her all too obvious atributes. NB in my opinion is a great actrice who really got screwed over by bad scripts. Much of the same for CB. LC gives those characters the life and depth that they should have received on screen.

I'm all for giving old companions a chance... but... ADRIC??? I'd love for Tegan to just kick his ass just because he's an obnoxious little idiot. And as far as his "mathematical excellence badge", that's just a load of crap. I'll take Zoe over Adric anytime as far as "smart" companions go. I'd go for a revival of Ben and Polly for example. They are interesting characters from way back. I love Ace as well, especially all that's been done with her in recent years. but Adric... ARGH...

To be honest, I think Adric could have ended up being a pretty great character. Sadly, he was introduced with TB and that is a Very hard act to "come into your own" with. So by the time PD got on board, Adric was pretty much established as much as he was able to be.

There were a FEW stories during the PD era where he had some development, but the damage was done.

10 reasons Peri became Ycarnos' wife.

1. The Bling.
2. The Power.
3. A warm bed.
4. Saving the planet from being ruled by an idiot.
5. The sex.
6. The castles.
7. The title.
8. To save the planet from really bad dudes.
9. Blackmail and threats.
10. American Manifest Destiny.

(No, you can't rationally love someone 100 IQ points stupider than you are as a lover and equal.)

This make me thing of Dave Letterman.

I dunno, I think he worked best with TB. I do recall thinking at the time that i wanted his brother, Varsh to go with the Doc, but for the subsequent three stories he worked fine. Not the strongest actor, but he's good at the beginning of Minder of Traken. Then he starts getting crowded out - but then so did everybody when it became 'The Tegan Show'. 4 to Deathday was the story that wounded the character of Adric beyond redemption - he was just made to look stupid and unsympathetic, but I s'pose at that point they knew he was going to be written out.

Other than Turlough, who I really liked, I think the companion who worked best with PD was Peri, who was basically a 6 Medic companion who came along too early. It would've been great if she'd have come along earlier still and been partnered with Turlough more.

Is Adric still going to be 16?

They sound effected Lucy Miller to be a boy for a whole episode once.

They could strip 20 years off Matthew.

Of course if he survived Earthfall by being half cyberconverted then his voice is going to be cybernetic and you don't need Matthew to play Adric.

Agreed. It's kinda sad that Dominar Jonathan Hardy has passed on to the Hynerian Hallowed Realm. I would've loved to have heard him do a voice in Doctor Who, audio or otherwise.

I remember being friends with him on Facebook for a couple of years before he died. In fact, he actually posted birthday wishes to me on my Facebook without any prompting or anything! It honestly brought a tear to my eye that this brilliant actor took time out of his busy schedule to wish someone on his friend's list a happy birthday even though he never knew anything about them save for the fact that they were a Farscape fan. I'll always regret never meeting him in person so I could thank him properly for his gentlemanly act.

You know what I think wasn't used (or even referred to) nearly enough after the initial story Full Circle? Adric's healing factor. So much could have been made more interesting if they'd had him shut his mouth, be less prodigious at maths (coz seriously, a gold star for mathematical excellence from a group of people who can't seem to progress technologically at ALL is not an indication of genius), and seem a bit more alien (cue healing factor) and less like just a whiny kid.

I think a lot of the reason Adric's not been in LC much is because Tom Baker & Janet Fielding were such late arrivals. I don't know the details of the upcoming box set (it's all news to me) but without one of those two, it's impossible to fit an LC Adric story into the TV continuity!

And Waterhouse has only recently been persuaded to take part, too. Like Baker and Fielding his was pretty resistant for a long time.

Had they managed to get him I guess they could have done a series of stories with Five and Nysaa with Tegan written out of the story. Or just a run of 5 with Adric alone.

Probably best not to think too hard about it as you start to think how 5 and Peri had so many adventures during the on-screen brief gap between Planet Of Fire and Caves ...

True, although I think it, sort-of, makes sense for more to have happened between 5 & Peri than we saw on TV. They had such a terrible time of it in Caves. It's the only story I can think of where the TARDIS crew make no friends whatsoever & it's hard to see why Peri-if it was only her 2nd story-wouldn't just want to go straight home!

Yes, but she is more from Silver Surfer and the Avengers than Guardians. In fact, I am not really sure she ever fought them. She is a space pirate that took over Thanos' battleship for awhile, then was mutilated by him when he returned with the Infinity Gauntlet. Stole the Gauntlet from him and healed herself, lost the Gauntlet and was further mutilated, then was converted into a Cyborg.

She has had her ups and downs.

It looks like the movie version is going to pretty much start off as a cyborg though.

From what I understand about the upcoming box set stories with Adric, they take place in Five's early days after "Castrovalva". So that may be as good as we're gonna get to have LC rescue Adric from the scappy heap (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap), as they say at good ol' TV Tropes.

My problem with Bendis is essentially my problem with Snyder (his opposite in DC); both companies have capitalized on their best writer and have whored them out on as many titles as they can manage. Bendis is the best when he is writing Teenagers and Snyder is at his best when he is writing adults.

Both have now been forced into writing for not just the characters they excel at, but pretty much every character the company they work for values.

Examples please? Snyder has written what characters at DC? Batman & Superman? and?

He began by writing American Vampire for the DC Vertigo line. If you haven't read it, you are doing yourself a disservice. That series had to be put on hiatus when DC put him on Superman and Batman. He simply does not have the ability to do more than a few titles at a time. This isn't an insult but rather proof that he is a great writer that is being ill-used for the two most generic characters DC owns.

As for Bendis? He went from only writing Ultimate Spider-man to writing *essentially* everything Marvel puts out.

[which he is still overseeing on Batman-Eternal]

I never really 'clicked' with comics - well, not enough to get into collecting donkeys years worth, any way. But I still like some of the spin off stuff like the GrafficAud's and the various live-action/animated movies.

But sometimes, though, I do wonder how comic fans keep track of all the different 'XXX age' and varying universes across the various DC/Marvel ranges. It's bad enough tracking the multi-doc variations, but the comic stuff seems ramped up to 11 by comparison.

on TV, didn't he visit Pompeii twice?

Once on TV when he was ten and previously on audio when he was seven... details (http://tinyurl.com/n9suz2u)

Catherine Tate and Bonny Langford wandering around the island on the same day? The locals would have been afeared...

It's a big city.

They met the Emperor in the Romans, so that was Rome not Pompeii... He did go to Pompeii in an early audio of course.

HA! He said "Volcano day!" in fires of Pompeii, totally referencing the medic dances. :)

Good job!

The city was also mentioned in waters of Mars and brain of Morbius, but that's only because it was a horrific volcano and not some place he had been.

1 stole the hand of omega in the name of the Doctor, I think we saw it out of the corner of our eye... But I might be making that up. He hid the Hand at a funeral parlour before an Unearthly Child, and then 600 years, or 2 weeks later, Seven went to pick it up in Rememberance of the Daleks, hours before he used the hand to Destroy Skaro.

Odd that this episode was set directly on top of Kennedy's assassination, but they only mentioned that happening a couple months later in Silver nemesis?

ok lets start a new debate....

If Mr.Nation had got his way and the pepperpots had turned up at the end of series 2 of B7, how different would the last two series have been? would it have lasted more than two series? would there have been more DW influences? would there have been a cross over?

thoughts please...

(just trying to re energize the thread here btw... its been a little dead of late)

Interesting ... but do you mean that they would have been an on-going threat, or just the threat that ended that particular season and then never to be heard of again?

The former - you may have got another season out of it, but the core premise of the series would have been compromised.

The latter - no change.

To be fair, I don't know what TN's plans were in the scheme of things, I just know he wanted the pepperpots to turn up, for some legal reason it didn't happen, so it became faceless andromedans.
I just fantasise about Roj and his chums having to side with the Feds for a season to fight off those pepperpots. Mr Baker turning up for the last ep, helping defeat them, however the crew being separated from the ship, then series three, being series four.
at least then Doriens Aquatic reptile appearance at the start of series four (now five in my timeline) could have made more sense, as could the series of audios staring a sandminer captain and Mr.Darrow, in his "is it or isn't it a cosmetics salesman's role"

Well like i said there are only 2 real concurrent ones... and a number of successive ones. And then there is any time you land on earth in the 70's you are on the same planet as the 3rd medic -- (see the haunted house story this past season) ... Can we all play nice? I'm sure you didn't mean anything untoward but this is the internet, tongue in cheek often doesn't translate well and what sounded light hearted in your head doesn't come across as quite so fun-filled when written down in black and white. Cue outraged response, escalation and before you know it the shit-storm has arrived. I'm in no way saying you're guilty of this but if you go back into the recent history of this thread there's been quite a lot of crap and people are wary of heading back that way. I take your point and you will notice if you read back that I made a comment against CTBs assertion too. I did it, however, in a non-confrontational way. CTB may have been serious, he may not have been...I couldn't tell either but I didn't reply in a way that would get his back up. There is no favouritism in what I'm saying - we should all take a moment to re-read our words before we hit the reply button.

so the specifications were the following?
-two or more medics, but at least one of them doesn't know about the other's presence
-same city/town/space station/what have you. Closer focus than planet or country, presumably
-same time, presumably exactly the same time so they could have bumped into each other but didn't
-in a tv episode.

well yeah, there's Father's Day (watching himself watch Pete die). there's also The Big Bang (one of him was in the Pandorica, the other told Rory how to get him out).
I guess it doesn't happen that often because the medic can usually tell where/when he is and almost always knows where/when he's been, and actively endeavours not to go to the same spacetime coordinates again.

I have fond memories of the club I belonged to in about 1988-1991, which met at the local Library. When it started, the 3 organisers (and myself) were about 15/16, and still in school, and only disbanded when we reached that age to head off to University, but we regularly had 20 or so people there of all ages, and although I liked Who before, it really started my obsession...

While I think it's great the youth enjoy the classic stuff, I'm really disappointed there are no women in my age range. (I'll never find a girlfriend that likes the medic :'( ) The British mom that brings her two sons (one of whom looks like the 11th) is gorgeous. Sadly she's happily married.

...Oh, I forgot to mention, she gave us a personal Doctor Who anecdote on Thursday: a few years back when she was in London, she was turning left at an inner-section, and got the dirtiest of looks from Peter Davison for nearly running him over.

As far as boosting our numbers though it's all about advertising on our part. We've got great flyers that I custom design specifically for each story we watch. But I don't think they go far beyond the library itself.

I have a question, when you buy a download from the LC site are you given a high res cover as well, or do you just get the audio files?
Also what is the kbps of the audio files?
I usualy buy the disc, and the only time I bought a download was from the audio-gone website and no cover was given.

I got the high res cover when I purchased Benjamin and Baxter, as for the kbps, it is the same as the files shared here.

I've always understood that when you buy the disc you get the same download as if you just bought the download. I did buy the Destiny series from the newspaper offer and they are the same 256 as the other files. As for hi res cover art, it depends. Newer releases are typically 1400 by 1400. Older 318 by 318.

Usually newer releases offer a high res cover and choice of MP3 (256kbps) or Audiobook (m4B) download.

Confirmed this just now with my Spouse of Agador and B&B digital copies off the LC site.

If you downloaded them from the LC Audio torrent with the huge number of files in it, Slip is a radio drama, so it is probably in there.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I'm pretty saddened by the loss of Harold Ramis. He was a big influence on me comedy-wise growing up. "Ghostbusters" still stands as one of my favorite movies of all time, and I probably won't be able to watch it again without getting a tad misty-eyed. But it's still gonna be my Halloween tradition to watch it every year, tears be damned. I just wish I could've met him to tell him how big a hero Egon was to me growing up. Oh well... :(

Egon was my favorite Ghostbuster, movie AND cartoon...and I adored the character he played in "Stripes". I loved him for the fact that every time you saw a picture of him or a behind the scenes clip he was always grinning.

I met him when I was much, much younger at an appearance publicizing Ghostbusters 2, it was an awesome, awesome experience for me then and I still have fond memories of it. Great guy, and no harm in bringing it up again in my view.
