I redownloaded the file to check. Like versatile posted, part 4 should play normally. The AB version plays fine.

Still haven't managed to find a cuesheet for LC #34. If anyone's got it in separate tracks could they please pm me a link.

Must have been a glitch in the d/l - I've gone for the M4B version and I'll just convert it - prefer it as one file anyway, means I don't accidentally start listening to stories on shuffle! I did this on the last archeologist's box set on the final episode and got confused when the story was over in 15 minutes (but still surprisingly made sense!)

Apparently PC just confirmed this week will be Cl@ra's final episode.

:D

My first reaction was "Yeah, right!" Do you suspect a little publicity gambit?

And in a couple of weeks' time it will be as if none of this had ever happened and she lives happily ever after etc etc.

My second reaction is tea time.

Yeah I prefer single file as well when I'm listening on my phone. My stupid download app doesn't sort files alphabetically so all the individual chapters are always out of sequence.

Hullo, gentlebeings,

I spent the last couple of days in the hospital -- don't worry I'm okay, just need a week of antibiotics and some rest now -- and got to finish Nvrlnd. I must say I really enjoyed it. I'll be loading up some of the other pre-50s and listening through them while I rest, so yay... Thank God for audios.

Also, my boyfriend is about finished with his current audiobook, so I'm going to give him the Burning Trees radio plays to start him off on Medic-related audios. I'm also going to put together a folder of classic Medic stories that he can listen to when he wants. He's mostly familiar with the new show, hasn't seen more than a few minutes of the original, but has at least some of a grasp on what it was like and who each medic is/was, though he doesn't really know any characters beyond the medics and SJS. I know I'm putting Extra Bits in there, and the first episode with Charlie, any other recommendations, from any of the ranges?

the second 50 recommendations and avoidances continued

6th medic

51 Wild Temporal woman and guest Maria Mcerlane in this follow up story from the Trial... really a great story with excellent plotting and performances [special cameo at the end]
57 the Evelyn era continues with this huge world war spanning epic story of love and war... gabriel woolf is the main guest star here
60 The doctor meet Daft Jamie in a historical tale that feature Burke and Hare another winner ... and this time the guest artist is some guy that went on to become the 10th medic
65 the red head screamer gains a personality; the mechanoids return; the pepperpots return... the creator of the pepperpots return Molloy guests and we have another winning story.
68 the red headed screamer era again in a nice time travel plot that feature her past
73 a follow up to 57 Gabriel Woolf is the guest again... and this is the end story for Evelyn [ special cameo at the end that revealed info on another medic and his friends] another winning story -- bu thtis is placed in the red head era
78 this is an interesting story --notable for a character named Billy that actually an Actor that went on to become the 1st medic. a little piece of meta-medic the story itself is okay, but again the quality is better witht he performances of Baker and Stables
84 not my favorite story .. it isn't great ; it isn't bad... but more great permances from Baker and Stables
86 miss Brown returns in the another one of the cyber trilogy this one guest stars Claudia Christian [Babylon 5] and Stuart Milligan [President Nixon]
90 if you buy into the premise of the talking sapient pig. this is a great story with an amazing guest cast Michael Keating [vila] Adjoa Andoh [Sister Jatt;Francine Jones] and the return of Maureen o' Brian [ Vicki] to acting and her LC debut
94 the first story in the 3-1 format is pretty forgetable but the second story is the begining of the Virus strand arc is brilliant
97 another in the 3-1 format the first story is pretty good and features the debut of Jean Marsh to LC and the Virus strand arc continues b ut stories are okay but the acting pushes them over the top
100 is the second of the 4 one episode stories this time 6th medic and Evelyn pretty fun stories

overall the 6th medic's quality was very high in this period maybe 1-2 stories didn't quite work but the directing and performances were pretty much at the top of their game.-- and the guest players were top notch

I think I'm gonna give my BF Extra Bits, Bad Weather Alert, German Castle, and Regnal Anniversary. A solid one from each classic medic, and whichever one he gravitates towards most, I'll give him more of next. Still gotta get him to watch some of my classic Medic DVDs, too. I enjoyed this weeks episode... Discussion in the tag
It was fairly good and some strong acting by PC. That said, I have all sorts of issues with the way 0zwald went out; chief being the method, since she died already and it was nothing like that. But generally I have found her extremely pointless since the 50th (as I have said before) and I must admit that doing away with her by using the VERY THING that made her a worthless companion was pretty excellent.

I'm not clear on who the Big Bad of the season will be. Part of me REALLY wishes they'd pop out the Celestial Teamaker, or... hey I am an optimist; The R@ini, or anyone whose name doesnt begin with a "D" or a "C". I know it won't happen, but there it is.

ANYWAY, I DIGRESS

On to my opinion of the newest #2
I loved the story and the acting was great. I admit I am slowly coming to join the point of view that Madame V is just not capable of pulling off a young-ish voice.

Also, man LC has been beating the Monk into everything over the last 2 years haven't they?

Bit of an overstatement, IMHO.

I was expecting him to be Quadringerstrain (or what ever his name was) from the Anniversary stories.

Main shame was that Hound is a bloody awful audio actor at the moment. Needs to relax so that we, the listener, can't *hear* the acting.

However, it does give us some potential for a Monk regeneration story.

Would a Monk centric box-set go down well? Three with Hound and one with Gardner?

Yeah. Hate to say it that when she's 'in character' it's much harder to accept. It's fine when she was Narrating and then being in character in a CC, but this format ... yeah .. the cracks are showing.

Wonder if they could do a decent story where a Doc, I think 8th could work, joins up with her at her Actress age for a story or two?

2 helpful things I've implemented recently and not so recently.

Filefox apps = Chrome Extensions.

1. Linkifying, search "convert text link" in the get apps/extensions search field of the apps/extension manager in your browser, which will automatically turn all unclickable text links on a browser page, into a clickable active links.

2. Search "Highlight copy" in the get apps/extensions search field of the apps/extension manager in your browser = anything you highlight, is instantly copied to your copy cache, which means that if you highlight a page or a few links, those links go straight into your jdownloader linkgrabber.

You can use it to upload stuff to mega accounts and whatever with one right click. It will also upload screenshots/screen snipping/take gifs of the page amongst a lot of other amazing features :)

I also discovered rdiownloader (extension) and deezerdownloader (java) for name obvious functions. Pngout for lossless png compression and mp3tag for ultra fast renaming from tags/to tags (it's amazing)

I'd put this in SPOILERS, except there are far too many who've mentioned it already... and I'm sure many on this board are thinking the same thing....

since Cl@r@ is possibly "nevermore", what if one of her "Imp0ss!ble G!rl" duplicates is still alive and well.

The cover of the recent Medic mag (I'll post a pic of the LTD Edition one, tho she is on the regular cover as well in a similar pose), she is seen in a Diner waitress outfit.
I've seen a still of the 12th Medic in the same 1950's-styled diner that 11 went when he was going to be killed by his Mrs in a Spacesuit, so perhaps "A" Cl@r@ is there and the Medic goes and finds her there - and...to satisfy fans who want her to be around, and Jenna who wants to go... the Medic, happy to see that an aspect of her survives, simply lets her be.

Maybe they have an adventure of sorts, but then he leaves.

*ugh*
I WANTED to upload the pic but the uploaded won't let it happen, no matter how small I save the file or optimize it, or even if I try to use a URL.
Anyway, anyone can find it.
It's issue 493.

So along with the LC audio plays I have a found I also enjoy listening to the DVD audio commentaries of the classic Medic stories. I've seen them all more times than I can count so I find I don't need to see what they are referring most of the time and it becomes like a nice way to eavesdrop on my favorite Medic actors discussing certain episodes. I've still a long way to go to finish listening to all of them (hence the previous ask for recommendations) but some are a lot of fun.

Not sure if this will be of that much interest but here's MP3 rips of all the audio commentaries of Classic Medic. I'm going backwards so I'm starting with all 12 7th Medic Stories plus the TVM Commentaries and Cry of the Shalkey.

RWQ
<!--7th Medic Audio Commentaries: https://mega.nz/#!5JtFmCYJ!7GA_CapDOrMWxblu1d5ExBSYaM8CLlLNvZCizlO8SvY-->

I'll upload a new batch every few days or so. Due to space I may have to start taking down in order as I go but if anyone misses any, let me cycle through the whole range once and I'll reup whatever you like.

It seems all of the releases had commentaries save for Villain of the Planet, the Cobweb of Frightening, the Ledge of Destroying, and Sheda. Plus some (or in some cases all) surviving Parts of The Non-terrestial Kid, The Pepperpots, The Crusading, Nebula Four, The Pepperpot master plan, The Celatial Toybringer, The Non-Faced Ones, The Star pirates, The Circle in Stars also didn't get commentary. Although the first two mentioned are soon to be rectified thanks to fantom.

Also interesting to note- the 6th and 5th Medic recorded commentary for every single one of their stories save one (Revealing of the pepper pots and The Wakening.) The 7th medic only did half of his (6 out of 12), the 4th Medic only did about half of his (20 out of 41 commentaries). Some episodes have multiple commentaries- sometimes only for parts of stories.

BTW Apologies if this isn't allowed. Someone can tell me and I'll take it down if thats the case. But happy to remove in 4 days regardless as this will be moot by then.

I'm friends with Juliet Landau and she's doing an indiegogo campaign to raise funds for her new vampire Documentary. The goal has been reached but they are now in the stretch goal mode for the final 4 days- ends Nov. 28th.

What does this have to do with this forum thread? Well as you LC fans now she is the third incarnation of The 4th Medic's Time Woman Assistant in the LC audios. Say Hi! from all of us, and find out when she's next playing R3 (and tell her just to relax just a wee bit on mic, cos besides that she seemed to fit in really well.)

She really enjoyed it. Especially Luna Ramona. They had big plans for her but for the time being it appears whatever was going on with the Ramona II actress at the time has changed and/or she got over-protective of the role and so now Ms Ward is currently doing what they had planned for Juliet in Gallifrey Series etc. They want to bring her back and she's game to do more but for the time being they are putting it on the back burner to keep RII happy. But I'll pass it on for sure!

Does anyone have the BBC Radio adaptation of the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, or the audio book of Dave Barry's "I'll Mature When I'm Dead"? Seems that none of the Frobisher stories made the top 20 LC range. :(

Oh well, at least Bride of Pallydon did.

Thats interesting that R2 outed R3. They seemed to get along well in the Bonus material for her first appearance. Maybe it was a scheduling thing that cleared up for R2? Anyhoo.

RWQ
<!--7th Medic Audio Commentaries: https://mega.nz/#!5JtFmCYJ!7GA_CapDOrMWxblu1d5ExBSYaM8CLlLNvZCizlO8SvY-->

I'll upload a new batch every few days or so. Due to space I may have to start taking down in order as I go but if anyone misses any, let me cycle through the whole range once and I'll reup whatever you like.

It seems all of the releases had commentaries save for Villain of the Planet, the Cobweb of Frightening and Sheda. Although the first two are soon to be rectified thanks to fantom.

Thanks for these.

The 7th Medic episodes that go with them in MKV.

I was floored by this week's episode. A real mind frell that reminded me strongly of LC monthly #52 in places. In fact, I recently read somewhere that Moffat based it off a script he was going to pitch to LC as an Eight story. If that's true, that's really cool and makes it even better.

Finished LC #21 earlier today, and I really enjoyed it. Some people seem to be down on 7's audio adventures, but overall, I've found them to be the most consistent. #s 5, 7, 13, 21 and 25 were all really good, all felt a lot like the best episodes of his TV era, the only one I've been "meh" about so far was #12, and that wasn't bad, it just didn't do anything for me.

A couple of days ago, I tried The Holy Penguin, but just couldn't get into it. I think I need to get in the right headspace to enjoy that one, so I'll let it sit for a while.

After last week's tear-jerker it struck me. Why did s/Me say teleport? Wooo has used Transmat all the time, possibly so as to distinguish itself from a popular 1960 US sci-fi series and maybe avoid getting flattened for copyright infringement on the term. Now the term has passed into popular usage, maybe there's not so much risk of litigation? But it did set me thinking this week...

that pattern buffers might be coming into play at some point. And in the movie, the Mstr announced that Dr is half human, then himself confirms it, on his mother's side. He's a Tyme L0rd / Human hybrid. Ashld'r is human/Mire.

I think you'll find that Transmat, teleport et al all go into common usage. I'm pretty sure that Trek wouldn't have been the first to come up with the term teleport, just popularised it. Terms like robot, android, automaton are other examples. Just common Sci-Fi tropes.

Teleportation actually goes back to the 19th century, believe it or not! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teleportation

So
I enjoyed the episode until it became apparent that even with no Clara, she was somehow mentioned or referred to more in this episode than she has been any episode this season. Surely the Medic has not forgotten all the other companions he has spent as much time with (if not more) and then lost?

Also, it comes down to my often mentioned pet peeve of throwing random huge amounts of time at the audience in order to make it "cool". Star Wars does it, nuWho does it. It's not clever, it's garbage. Would the Medic really need a billion freaking years to Punch through a wall with his soft fleshy fist when he had a freaking shovel laying around the whole time that could have done the job much, much faster?

Again, it was enjoyable, but that is due entirely to PC's acting chops rather than any particular clever plot twists. I do find it amusing that G@llifrey is out of its box for less than a season and they are already being evil and sinister. I admit that the Big Bad was definetly neither a D or a C as I predicted.

Also, apparently P.J. is bandying about that he will be doing some Medic soon. I guess the upside to that is that 1) the Medic does not have an unlimited Hollywood Budget. and 2) He can't go beyond a 45 minute timeslot.
With these two things playing against him, they might be good episodes. ALTERNATIVELY they could be the only episodes in the shows history to not feature a human actor.

I think it's more likely that as Peter Capaldi was in New Zealand recently they thought they'd do an internet skit together.

The 4th Medic did the same thing in the "Gob of Badness" where he immediately comments to SJS - who had been left behind two eps prior (for events of "Un-alivey Sniper").
(Unless I'm remembering the novelization... ONE of them - either the book or actual ep - has "teeth&curls" make a comment to SJS, only to realize that she's not there.

Ep thoughts in *spoiler* box:
I too hate the (read in the voice of Carl Sagan) "billions and billions" of years aspect to the tale.

I know that each incarnation of 12 here makes the realization too late that he has done it before and will need to do it again, but in all that time, you'd think he'd leave a BETTER CLUE than BIRD.
And better yet, write your last words BEFORE you zap yourself. You might get more info down.
Perhaps; "Always carry a spade". Or maybe "sonic resonance for zilo-diamond-antium?" Or "there are tons of diamond shards lying on the floor. Use them instead of your fists, lunkhead."

Some of the hidden clues were weird.
Why bury the note to go to "his" room number?
Is it that information that far down won't get erased when the rooms reset?

And are we all in agreement that in order for the clothes to be set out that at least one version would have had to do everything after the moat sequence au-natural?

The rest (food, furnishings) were provided by the baddie/castle set-up.
But what of the portrait?
Did one of them have the time to paint a portrait? I doubt it. Not with the 80-something minute window between visitations of the "deceased".

Still, while it was a good ep, it wasn't as great or mind-blowing as some online have been saying.
I figured out most of it pretty quick, and kept waiting for the story to tell me that I was wrong.
But it didn't. I got most of it very early on.
Not a brag, just a shame. It could have been SO much better.

The Mrs (whom I have indoctrinated) was also not very impressed by the story.
She likes C@p@ld0c so that's great.

But "Medic in MYST" is nifty, and I did enjoy it.

The cinematography alone was beautiful.

Just thought I'd chime in on Sat's Medic ep, seeing as how there other comments contrary to it being "the best [Hoo] ever". I wasn't going to watch after the first highly positive remarks, I thought I'd give NotHoo one last shot. So, yeah, it sure looked pretty and slick, but you know, at the end, it felt like, once again, it was trying too hard! I just watch the dvd of "T'r'r of the Shapechangers" (my wife got it for me for my birthday on the 21st), and you know what? The story still rocks more than any of the NotHoo eps today! Scarfy Medic was in top form, Hairy was actually pretty good as a companion in this episode and Good Lord, Mizz Smiff looked super hot (just sayin'!). Even the puppet at the end didn't take away from the overall effect! And man, the shapechangers were much scarier in this "old" story than they were in the 50th Anniversary thingy! Good stuff!

Oh wait, sorry, got off-topic (it happens)..

So, yeah, Saturday's ep.. It looked great, but it felt like it was trying too hard. And good Lord, those son1c sunglasses @#$%ing need to go AWAY! Someone also felt PC was emoting Scarfy, but I disagree. I watched it, and never once did I find that. I really like PC, but I feel Moff's overarching stories and ham-fisted plotting are limiting him!

I know it will most likely not ever happen, but I'd love to see 12 and 8 team-up! Then again, I still want to see Cillian Murphy as the Medic.. *sigh*

This is something I've really struggled to understand with the new series and their inability to compete - seemingly - with this ONE monster from the old series.

The only thing I can come back to again and again is just that the costumes simply look ridiculous when the lighting and atmosphere is totally different. In Terror, we had crazy lighting that all pretty much complimented their apperance and made them menacing. In the new series, they are just sort of weird bright colored squidmen running around in the middle of cities or brightly neutral museums.

I think the old Ziggonn costumes were much better.
They looked like they had flesh and gristle and bone under their skin.

The new costumes just look like rubber.

(Having said I completely loved the two-parter they were in this year)

don't say you are going in with an open mind willing to give it a chance when you clearly make comments that prove you didn't.

I do agree with this. I have a very warm, fuzzy nostalgic glow for the classic series Master and absolutely love him, but he was impossible to take seriously from about Mind of Evil. As a character he had all the depth of Skeletor or Megatron. He wanted to beat the Doctor/rule the universe (and wear black), because he's a villain and that's what villains do. The new series treats the Master as an actual character, and what kind of a person would do the kind of things the Master does? Someone who is absolutely bat-shit insane, which the new series nails, especially in Michelle Gomez's hands. I find the two new series Masters to be far more threatening than the classic series Master was at any point after Terror of the Autons, simply because in the new series the Master is more than just a tedious super-villain clich.

Totally agree on this. I prefer my Meister to be cool and aloof. Sure the modern one is more "dangerous", but his first apperance in NuWho was a dangerous blithering idiot. The second ... well... they made him a girl. And she works *cough*astherani*cough*. But he was originally concieved to be the Bond Villain for The Medic. No villain ever beat Bond, but they made him seem like a more clever and worthy opponent by matching him up to the point where their fatal character flaw always outplayed them.

I am putting this next part behind spoilers, because not everyone is so invested in this community and simply come for the releases.
------ AS FOR ROSE COLORED GLASSES ------
This is a thread about a show that is 52 years old and counting. If the only commentary on this thread had to do with NuWho .. it wouldn't exist. Rather than saying "I don't like the old show because it's Old. You should like the new one because it isn't" why not respect peoples opinions and just agree to disagree in silence?

Otherwise, a more constructive way to debate your view would be something like "I disagree, because I find that in Y soandso does X more competently, here is my explanation for why that is____". You sort of accomplish this, but again - the caps - as well as making no effort to not insult others views.

I'll be objective;
The Bad
The classic series is full of low budget monsters. The BBC milked it for every dollar they could make out of it without regard for the stories the writers were trying to tell or any input outside of "This thing makes money, we must micromanage its budget to maximize our profits".

The new series is nearly Twilight-esque in how maudline and overdramatic it makes a character who is not Human, comes from a race that is very long lived -- thus negating any need to have any sort of romantic feelings develop as a means of "wooing" the opposite sex of their species -- into a whiny crybaby who is unable to function without a girl to hold his hand.

The Good
The classic series was far, far longer in the tooth than the current one. This meant that stories were fully fleshed out form beginning to end. Does this make for difficult viewing for newer fans who value short hops over the Long Game? Sure. It also means that the stories were not always about how the Doctor/Superman shows up and just mows the villain over with no need to think.

The new series has great effects. It has furthermore been able to capitalize on its production crew and actors who are almost unanimously fans of the original series and have themselves been fortunate enough to have careers significant enough for them to pull weight with the BBC as it is now. What it may lack in depth from shorter stories it makes up for to some degree in Flash and Dramatic Spectacle.

-- My Own View --
The Medic is a great and long running series. It's not all good and it's not all bad. I often post only my negative views on this thread - but thats because my negative views in NO WAY belittle or diminish anyone elses opinions. It's why I I always start my little views as "My opinion" or somesuch like thing.

An off-example; I love Stephen King. I am unabashedly the type of SK fan who goes out of his way to meet him, has all his books usually before they are even unboxed in a store and will gleefully grab artist/signature editions whenever I can get them. I read his books regularly and have for 25+ years.

I enjoyed 11/22/63 a lot. It's a very interesting story in that the typical "It was a conspiracy" doesn't ever come into play. Very much a one man can make a huge difference type of thing. There are lots of little twists throughout it that I could only spoil by hinting at, so I won't.

I'm sure you've seen all the medic eps, just as I have, and if our opinions still conflict it's no big deal.

LC's take on the character is perfect and fits with how the TV portrayed him.

Fast-forward to The Movie and you start to see a Meister who is, most assuredly, starting to have less of a grip on reality. I suppose all the re/de/re-generations followed by being zapped to death whilst wondering why the pepperpot voice boxes had gone weird that day has an effect on you.

Mix in all the craziness from the Time War (that probably had even more re/de/re-generations) and the messing with his timeline that James Bond did and it's no surprise the NuTV take is definitely a sandwich short of a picnic and, for good measure, certifiably insane by the end.

Now, I'm not a particular fan of the gender change (sorry, SM should have made her The Ranee instead. That would have made more sense, IMHO) but the character has certainly regained a grip on reality and in the hands of some good writers I've no doubt that Goemez can be just as chilling as DelG back in The Day.

Wow! So refreshing to hear you are as into his Meister as I was. I found him to be both chilling and psychotic at times! Even in the YooKnit: Dom boxed set, he really seemed to own the role! Sad that Moff couldn't bring him into the show - that would have been awesome! It doesn't feature AM (it's the Beaver chap), but the CC "Meistermind" is quite good! I highly recommend it!

I agree with you on both counts.

Okay, I'm a little late to the show but I finally watched the latest Medic and while I'm interested in finally seeing the return of the Timelords, the episode itself was a mixed bag. It was visually very interesting, making great use of the architecture, but the story itself was meh at best. I kept waiting for something, anything interesting to happen, and had to wait until the very end for it. Finding out he'd been trapped inside the confession dial and was back on Gallifrey was the only interesting part of the whole story. As for that whole Dalek/Timelord hybrid thing....oh boy. Do we really need that? Next week's episode looks interesting. Hopefully it will be spectacular and redeem the lackluster build-up so far. (Wasn't all that keen about FACE THE RAVEN either)

Which makes it my problem.

Cut it any wahy you like, they still reported your post as offensive and insincere.

Since it's only one post they reported and you guys have your own self-empowered autonomy, I felt imbliged to not care for any of you you; larlgey, considering how you treated me if I was a mod or not.

You guys mostly feign to show intelligence to hold your ground but care too much to prove a point.
Even when it means nothing.

Since none of you really care to make yourself a part of the main forum, I don't really care if someone comes along pretends a gogshyte or not.
Since you value yourself higher than the rest of the forum, I give you fake powers to handle any situation internally.

I'll implore Jessie and Sarah to not care about you.

You want autonomy for your limited thread? You sure as hell got it.

Someone should have posted the decryption key/code with the link. I know that a couple of months ago mega changed things. I once copied a link for something I;d uploaded for someone and I copied and pasted the link for them, though I did think that the link was very short. Turns out I need to click on a box to reveal the option to include the decryption key/code with the link - once done, then no problem. This I have to do each time, as I'm sure others have to do also. Maybe Pm the person who posted the original link.

You're not being focused enough on what you were too drunk to cotton on to.

1. That was Timothy Dalton from the End of Time. After a couple regenerations.

2. The DoctorClara is way more annoying than the DoctorDonna. No seriously, an actual fucking hybrid you twats.

3. Clara is expected to re-enter episode 11 at some point and get got by the Raven. Bablyon 5 described it as inbetween tick and tock.

4. As a team, rather than a single person, the DoctorClara are willing to destroy time and Gallifrey to get their own way.

5. That's the diner from the impossible astronaut. Was it still a TARDIS last time the Doctor Amy, Rory and River were there? No seriously, Forrest Gump Clara the #### into that scene. Holy shit that would be cool.

6. The Doctor asked for an amnesia machine. Clara whammied it with the sonic. the reverse of wiping him from her brain, is wiping her from his brain. But because she's a shit scientist it was a coin toss if she'd reversed the amnesia machine or not. She had. He has no idea who he is.

7. The Doctor has spent months or years piecing together Clara from his memories that must be mostly intact except that every thing that ever has happened to him still happened but without him talking to Clara or Clara talking to him, or she being an active participant in any of the adventures they had where she usually practically saved the bloody day.

8. Danny Pink is his friend? No seriously? How does the Medic's Swiss cheese brain explain his animosity to Danny without being jelly of Danny and Clara's relationship?

9. Stuff.

10. The TARDIS once flew about with an Arrow shot into it's front door. the TARDIS once flew with jack holding on to the window pain by his fingernails. The only reason it didn't take all that paint with it is that the TARDIS is still a contrite old ##### who hates Clara like she's some basic ##### stepping in on her man.

There was a LOT to take in, but much of it was IMPLIED and the rest was just...INSANE.

BASICALLY, the MEDIC, after emerging from 4.5 Billi0n yrs in the Reconciliation Disc, goes to Homeworld and stages a coup - from his old barn-hayloft bed. He then gets the T!M3L0RD$ to release 0sw@ld from the split-second b4 her death and he forcibly regens the Pres-pro-tem because Medic doesn't really KNOW what the mixed-breed is; he only made them THINK that he did so he could make them think they needed him, thus he could release Cl@r@ from time.

THEN, there's a lot of flash and nonsense about the Cl0!ster Wars with all his baddies making an appearance, before Imp0ss!ble-Grrl tells him a secret (which will maybe pay off next season).

In the meanwhile, 12 hot-wires another Tr@D!S (and it was freaking awesome to see 12 in an old standard white roundel room) before heading to the END OF ALL THERE IS to try to escape Ozzies fate.

That doesn't work, because "ME" is waiting at the end of time and they chat.
Hints and half-teased spoilery things are bandied about; Is "ME" the mixed-breed? Maybe the TV movie is true, on his Mother's-side? But no... perhaps it's not ONE person but TWO, who are SO close to one another that they are inseparable as well as indistinguishable in their actions and attitudes. A melding of Cl@r@-as-Medic and Medic himself, who is now, once again, more "War-Medic" than "Medic".

MEDIC then says he'll JAMIE/Z0E/D0NNA Ozzie's mind, so she forgets him and she'll then be safe to start over somewhere else.

She "3rd Medics" the Polarity of his mind-wipe gizmo and then they play russian-roulette with it (all at the same time) to see who forgets whom.

The Medic forgets and Ozzie and "Me" use the new TR@D!S to make the 1950's DINER setting, so that they can ease MEdic back into things, before they ditch him and go around all of t!me&sp@ce together - going to Homeworld... the "long way 'round".

Medic is then given his type-4o and he becomes THE MEDIC again, gets a new s0nic-sex-device and they two T@RDII head off in opposite directions, unaware of each other.

End.

I liked it, but it was mostly all FROSTING with not enough actual CAKE.

There was a human living out in the wastelands of Lands of Glifrey.

She married a former timelord come savage.

WTF did Leela do to the genepool that these hayseeds are not allowed back in the city?

Of course this would imply that the invasion of time happened before the medic was born if the savage was his mother all along, which is not how time works on Galifrey.

I don't think I'd go as far as the 'bad fanfiction' idea (but I see where you're coming from) but I do wonder how much the change of pace may have influenced initial thoughts? Have we become so used to the Finales being so frantic, so huge, so 'universe threatening' that even the more sceptical fans been a bit sideswiped by the narrative breaks being put on a bit?

HoS had me so excited and was an incredible and creative episode, the perfect conclusion to Clala's character arc. HB made me wish that I could erase it and the Rassilawn incarnation from my memory! I'm so sad that none of my favourite TLs were in them and they spoiled, at least in my opinion, the Rassilawn that they had who was poorly utilised. It was also semiplotless in the first half where not really happened except for a drawn out standoff between the Medic and the TLs... Also it kind of sat on the Time Lock (what with Rassi contacting Ash and everything and patiently waiting for the Daleks to find and kill them instead of launching a pre-emptive strike to kill them, Missy being entirely AWOL, the menagerie in the basement, Hybrid doesn't do anything except seem to be a 1/2 human on his mother's side reference or a 'Me' is the hybrid throwaway line, 4 billion years via a pocket universe doesn't seem to be particularly time lockish also, just saying. The best part of the episode was the particularly amusing Clala and Me escaping in that T4RDIS and taking the building with it! I had a Shada flashback. Just my 2c but I'm sure that some will love it :) )

Yeah I wish they'd just have stuck him with that console room...

Yeah I wish they'd just have stuck him with that console room...

I really like the current version, much better than that orange monstrosity that the eleventh medic had.

It's quite interesting (to me, at least!) how the shift from largely self-contained adventures to season-long arcs has changed the game for the show's scriptwriters over time (speaking as someone who started watching during the Scarfed Medic era). The showrunners have by definition created a new set of expectations that they risk not meeting.
