Hmm.. I was curious to check this out, as it was only made-to-order, with no further production. However, it is all one long FLAC track for each disc. I am bit of a derp when it comes to tech and audio tricks/tips. Is there a easy way for me to make them either a) individual FLAC tracks, or even b) just individual MP3s for my SANSA player?

Same here. They did really well to make it look and sound like the era. ABC is Australia used to show it. Ah, memories!

Apologies for this aberration of forum use, but I've been indoctrinating the Mrs in the Medic and we've watched all of nu-hoo up until this past "final Christmas" episode.

I used to have a downloaded copy, but I deleted it shortly after watching it.
Sadly, it's not included on the series 8 boxed set and I don't want to buy it as a stand-alone if it might be included in the next boxed set...

Are your CC's a high bit rate 256-320 and are they single files or individual tracks?

Interestingly, it's not being done by LC, who usually snaffle up the rights to any cult drama from days gone by with great speed. Whilst I love LC and the hours of genuine listening pleasure they've brought to me (and I never used to listen to audio drama much before) I think it might be quite refreshing.

Bafflegab are very good though, they're responsible for the brilliant Scary-Fiers, the Hammer series, Brenda & Effie and Vince Cosmos, and work quite closely with LC, so it should be brilliant!

I've tried to download the multi track versions offered and combine them into a single audio track (my preferred version) but track 15 always reads as corrupted. And as always thanks for any help.

On a completely seperate note. Finally listened to "haemoglobin prison" (why was it called that anyway?). The narration was quite fantastic. As far as readings go, narrator seems to be the most important part to me. Maybe even over a good story. Id rather listen to a mediocre story told well, than a great story told badly. Which is how i was able to devour the David Warner 11thmed book so rapidly. And on that note let me say that the short "Lytz owt" read by the actor who plays dan p, to be quite engaging in story and narration! Arthur D reads well too.

So my question is... Does anyone else have any stories they particularly remember enjoying the narration immensely?

Tommy B. is pretty good. I really liked his reading of A Christmas Carol. I also think Davie T. is a good reader. He really tries to give the characters a strong voice.

Yeah GBeev totally knocks it out of the park. Absolutely adore his reading style. NonDW suggestions are also welcome. (I just stumbled onto something call "ATEMsiloport" over on theabbay. First one read by BG cast members. Second read by ST actors. But for now, I'm stuck (aka totally engrossed in) listening to the 54hour unabridged "egnartSnoJ & leroNrM". It's pretty darn wonderful.

One thing I will say is that I tend to switch off a bit on the stories read by Nik Birggs.....something about his reading voice makes me lose concentration. I'm fine with his acting and alien/monster voices, but his narration doesn't do it for me for some reason.[

We've drawn attention to ourselves again as we all seem to be getting hit with DMCA's, and I think the culprit is probably Silviosilva's well intentioned but un-coded sharing of the series music scores complete with track listings.

We've all had to learn the hard way, use RWQ or spoiler tags or a simple code if you have something to share.

ARGH!

Could anyone reup disk 8 of Metropolis of Deceasedness? My copy is perfect up to that point where it's corrupted and plays only silence and with no tagged data to albums (despite being 100 odd MB). Interestingly disk 9 is not affected.

Pink Floyd's The Wall was playing at the OMNI theatre (of which Bob plays the title role), back when Bob was a regular visitor to Perth, Western Australia. Well so far, not counting Flameoak (which I assume was a self contained deal in it's own right) all the characters from NuMedic seem to have come from the current showrunners reign. So I'm assuming any deal LC has done has been with his assent and encouragement and covers his creations, rather than those of his predecessor.

I agree. When they announced the nuMedic stuff, I just rolled my eyes. I know for a lot of people this is a good sign that LC might get the new Medics some day, but until LC gets the nuMedic I couldn't care less about the adventures of Winston Churchill (except from a nonfiction historical perspective). Like you, the Brig's Daughter is the only thing from nuMedic that might interest me.

While I do like Burningwood, that series seems to be going backwards instead of continuing on, which is a shame since we have no idea when or if the Beeb will ever put out another Burningwood series (or mini series) again.

In fairness, the only reason Miracle Day was an American co-production in the first place was because the BBC was refusing to pony up the money that RTD wanted for it, so he had no other alternative than to seek out an American network who would cooperate with the BBC and give them the budget he wanted.

The irony is that Stars didn't have to whore it out to us Yanks. We already enjoyed it. In fact, having a Beeb show set in Cardiff using American type tropes actually made it appealing. It was familiar, yet slightly different thus giving it a fresh appeal. That's why it was such a hit on BBC America. By-the-by, I didn't hate Miracle Day, it was just completely underwhelming. I don't think RTD, who was still the show runner, planned it out very well. The Beeb not giving him money should have been a sign for him to stop with Children of Earth.

And they should have filmed Miracle Day up in Vancouver for the gray skies and natural atmosphere that the X-Files had, not in sunny California.

And, if the future of your show is uncertain, why in the name of hell would you end it on a cliffhanger ending like MD did?

I hate to derail the Miracle Day discussion, but has anyone listened to the trailer on LC's website for their 6th Medic regeneration box set? It sent a shiver of delight down my back hearing it. It makes me a bit anxious to hear the finished product. I might even spend some of my birthday money on it, as September's when my birthday is. Depending on how much I get, I may also might shell out some for their audio adaptation of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", as Marc Platt's handling the adaptation, and I'm a big fan of his DW stories.

I personally could never get into Flamebark. I gave it a try but it just never appealed to me.

Sadly, for those of us who love series that end up being doomed to cancellation, the shorter episode based series typically have everything planned, scripted and shot before they even air. So there wouldn't be an opportunity to redo anything by the time the ratings kill them.

I think LC might be using it as a way to transition over to the adventures of reptile lady and her wife. So far they haven't announced any further adventures of the Victorian Gentlemen beyond November, so they may be in the process of deciding if they are going to continue that range or not. Keep in mind, the actors aren't getting any younger.

I can't see why they'd need to transition over from one series to the other. That seems like a rather convoluted way to go about things.

"Keerrrching! Cash registers sound in overdrive. As one wag posted on BaseLook "Shall I just send LC my wages directly from my employers?" In my humble opinion, LC are in danger of swamping the market, therefore returns will drop. the rate of releases per month, even for completists is getting way out of hand. For fooks sake, LC, slow down! Some of us can only afford to cherry pick one release when we can afford it!

I kind of get that feeling too.

I don't see the series ending until a funeral. Heck, they could continue the series as just 'Jogo' (or vice versa). I'd much rather see gay lizards meet the Victorian Gentlemen though than Strax. Although I suspect they might have some rather conservative values about all that. Or at least be highly bemused.

When so many of the classic-era actors are of a certain age (the Victorian gentlemen performers are both over 80), it makes sense that LC would want to make as many audios with those actors as is reasonably possible while time and fitness permit. Remember that LC isn't thinking only in terms of immediate sales of new material, but also of ongoing sales from their catalogue in future years - and thanks to downloads, their supply will never be exhausted even after all the discs are sold. And combining the classic and Nu eras may bring the latter's fans to buy more items from the classic ranges once they've met the classic characters.

Yeah, but books are generally done in the Narrative Third Person / Past Tense so very easy to describe "the companion was sure she felt something move behind her ... or was it just the air?"

In a straight duel based on physical contact, like a tug of war really, where both of them are tugging their hardest, it's purely a question of who can suck off the other one completely first.

I am going to guess this place is dead now, I presume no more links? I haven't used it in about 18 months but about to have some surgery and be laid up and off work for about 6 weeks. I normally prefer to buy CDs but 6 weeks worth would have killed me, so I was going to supplement. Ah well, this will encourage me to vary my entertainment at least.

It's not dead. We just like having some discussion in between LC's many releases. Plus, if you're looking for something, ask us! We'll try to provide it to you as quickly as we can!

Saying all of that, I just treated myself to the Frasier, This Life and You Rang M'Lord box sets. 6 weeks of retro TV should save me from too much boredom.

Count me in on that as well. If the epub of that 4th Medic novel was around, I would not say no. As my wife and I are getting ever closer to the date for our move to North Carolina (2 1/2 weeks away), I could use a bit of a distraction.

Completely off topic, but I'm looking for a YT downloader that will let me download in 1080 with no hassles, no catches. I also can't afford to pay for one at the moment. I'll go back and do it when I have money. So what does everyone suggest?

In the variant column on the linkgrabber page, click on the little black arrow to make decisions, but really it tries to make you down the highest available definition as a default. High light a group and then right click so that you can change the resolution of many many links simultaneously.

Sadly there was no ebook included, and I could not find it elsewhere.

I didn't even know this was on the horizon, normally they save the books by prominent non medic authors for a pre-xmas release.

This is quite a large copy. Encoded (not by me) at 256 in m4a. So it weighs in at just over a gig. For your convenience, I have separated it into 4 parts. (each one containing two parts, for a total of 8 files - fyi)

That worked about as well as any software does these days. A little more fiddling about than expected, but it got the job done. Thanks!

this seems to be in the same range as Time Harvest [3rd]]or Ice Wheel [2nd]or war Engines [War] that have been released in each of the previous years as a novel featuring a previous Doctor rather than the current one the book is said to take place in the post Assisin era ...but pre Savage

Sadly, only a couple have ever surfaced. Badly converted pdfs will have to suffice. That said, I thought most of the NSAs were mediocre at best.
