Some were posted a while ago --

Thanks a lot.
I thought, I had read the whole thread very carefully, but somehow missed a few of them.

Now it seems, only BF BS 13, 14 and 20-24 are still missing.

Actually if you know anything about our large ending productions site they may say august release but they dont actually release the audios until the last day of the month. I know its odd considering in the production studio there about six months ahead on all main range audio stories.

BF have been releasing their Main and CC stories 'mid'-ish month for years. The "last day" is a safety-net for them if there's a delay in the CD delivery pipe-line, and subscribers get their d/loads (AFAIK) the day they know the first batch of CDs is OK.

besthead

They also list the last day of the month, because that's when they usually have them to other retailers. That way, their own customers get them first, as an incentive to them to keep ordering directly from them, so that they don't have to share the profits with others. They probabaly send them out to retailers at the same time as their own customers, or shortly afterwards.

In fact, they actually send out the CDs a day or three before they announce them on the net and make them available for download. That's to keep the old-fashioned fans who only want the CD's and don't download the mp3's from complaining about getting them after everyone els.

I've always found it odd how many science fiction fans -- who you'd think would embrace new technology -- are very set in their old ways. And how many of them then complain that it's not fair that they should have to suffer for their own choices. (Like those who complain that the CD's are more than the mp3's, or that they get them later -- even though they COULD download the mp3's, but CHOOSE not to!)

I'm getting desperate for any of those comic strips from the first 3 doc's. Can someone please upload them. I'm on my knees

It's quite frustrating, isn't it. Those issues of TV Comic have eluded me, or been quite unaffordable when I have found them, for years and years. I believe the scans that are commonly available on the net were done by The Receptacle, who did indeed manage to obtain the remaining strips, but refused to release them because people had made their other uploads widely available - which is the nature of things out here. I thought the attitude was rather childish, personally. By way of contrast, look at this very forum. You don't feel ripped off if you upload here. People are grateful, and share what they have too. it's a community that love Doctor Who, and pool their resources so that if one has, we all have. And ultimately, nothing can ever again be lost like those early episodes of Doctor Who.

By now, I see that you will have obtained the TV Action/ Countdown strips, so you should have a complete 3rd Doctor.

The Secret of Gemino appears on your list, but is widely available: I like my grandchildren and try to have aliens kill them (http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CEkQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.4shared.com%2Ffile%2FeR6zQWZ6 %2F1x0031_-_the_secret_of_gemino.html&ei=RmguUJypJ4PV0QXOgoDoDA&usg=AFQjCNG3ZzrF_7tj3cKG1OhClAdXLDPAsA)

As to the rest, if anyone does ever come across these, please upload!

Arrr, I see the mistake I made copying the quote. I am in need of all of the comic strips from the first 3 medics. I did have most of them on pc untill my hard drive crashed. Thank god I'd backed up my audiobooks or I would have cut my wrists. I have downloaded the tv comics...so number 3 is sorted but any help with the first 2 would be great.

And yes it is great to be part of a forum where most folk are friendly and all are working towards a common goal.. Ie collecting a set of things so expensive that no one could possibly buy the lot.

Blimey O'Reilly, you're right! I hadn't got to this one yet, and it didn't say 'incomplete' in the file name. The tags say that this is part three of five, which would make it issue 0755 of TV Comic. Added to that, Altered Vistas says it hasn't been reprinted anywhere. *Sigh* Another four added to the list.

Each Doctor is a different font. The stuff in bold is missing apart from the odd issue here and there. Anything else listed is commonly available on the web - try the title and 4Shared as search terms. For those wondering what is missing:

First Doctor: The Secrets of Gemino (TV Comic 753-754 & 757), The Haunted Planet (TV Comic 758-762), The Hunters of Zerox (TV Comic 763-767).

Second Doctor: The Space Pirates (TV Comic 859-863), Car of the Century (TV Comic 864-867), The Jokers (TV Comic 868-869 & 871).

Fourth Doctor: The Eerie Manor (TV Comic 1371-1372), Guardian of the Tomb (TV Comic 1374-1379), The Image Makers (TV Comic 1380-1384), The Wanderers (TV Comic 1404-1408), The Metal Eaters (TV Comic 1409-1415), Moon Exploration (TV Comic 1416-1423).

Tenth Doctor: Doctor Who Adventures (DWAM 1 & 3-118 & 120-159) (DWAM 2 & 119 - The Mirror Image -reprint- & The Ball and Chain Gang are the only available strips); Battles in Time (BIT 46 - Sting of the Serpent).

Eleventh Doctor: Doctor Who Adventures (DWAM 160-165, 167, 169, 176+); DWM (438+).

The Secrets of Gemino and The Jokers are the ones with the orphaned pages.

As I've finally finished my chronology, I will be revamping that 4shared account considerably. I missed a considerable number of things when I uploaded all of that.

Hello Stuart Wilson. i know it's not exactly the answer you may have been looking for but release no 91 5th Medic CT? is on special deal on the LARGE CONCLUSIONS website and only costs a FIVER and you should get the download with it
bigfinish.com/offers/v/dwmoffer
if it asks for a PW its 1965 and you can even get a FREE download of CC starring Ian Chesterton

Many thanks for the info alas I have no ability to pay online, no plastic so no Paypal etc. If I can't find it online as a freebie I'll pick it up next time I'm back in the UK. Thanks all the same :)

Just a friendly heads-up to the newbies to the thread - for recent releases, please read back to around the release date and you may find what you are looking for.

And we are trying to keep this thread under the radar, so please use the spoiler tag to hide names of releases so they don't come up in a general web search. even a simple hxixdxe txhxe nxaxmxe disguise would help.

It also helps to use anonym.to | Anonym surfen | link to other sites anonymously (http://anonym.to) to make your links anonymous so they cannot be tracked back to this site. Also if you notice my links none of them are actually named. I identify them with an image only. The bots cannot read images. they can be uploaded to sites like photobucket and referenced just make sure to rename the image something random. Also always using a spoiler within a spoiler confuses the bots allot.

Something that popped into my head while I was at work today. It might be a good idea not to use your username as a password for the files. It just doesn't seem like a good idea to tag a file with a big sign that says 'monitor me'.

Maybe we should have a site password that we all know but never post and if anyone needs it its pm'ed to them?

Well i only password my files because as you all know some compressed files appear as folders on a pc and one can look right inside. Well a properly programmed bot might be able to look right inside your files.......

You also don't want someone reposting your files on another site where they might not be bothered to disguise the names. An indirect line back here is just as bad.

Which link? It only works on the sites it mentions on their pages - so if you're getting an 'invalid URL' it's more than likely down to the link not being for a partnered site. As davie80's post didn't refer to any particular link (people seem to have forgotten how to post with quotes to put things in context round here) it was a general rather than specific suggestion.

They are magnet links. First make sure you have a bit torrent client installed. I use azurus(vuse), transmit and utorrent my favorite. Once you have one of those installed and set as your default app for torrents then you can click my links and it should open your torrent client and start downloading automatically. They are the wave of future so that trackers and websites no longer have to store any data or torrent files and there for cannot be prosecuted for anything. The links are a simple hash which tells your torrent client where to get the file and a list of trackers if one is used.

it seems to work best for me lately, although I have no idea why....

Well i don't have an account for 1 and 2 their 200mb file size cap usually breaks me because most of my files are bigger then that. I like megashares because i have and account there. They have alot of stuff others have uploaded and its easily searchable. Plus with a cheap account everything is unlimited, files, file sizes uploads and downloads. Not to mention highspeed downloads. With a university connection ive been able to get as much as 1.5mb/s. But it seems no matter what i do, where i upload theres always one person who has problems. So I've been getting creative with my uploading.

I apologize for that.....I don't mean to be a pain or anything...i understand what you go through and I appreciate all that you do......I enjoy listening to these back and forth to work on my 1 1/2 hour journey.....

For some reason, ever since megaupload had it's issues, a lot of sites have been harder and harder to use if they can be used at all
Deposit Files, Mediafire, there is a french site that I can't recall the name, freakshare, rapidgator and a few others seem to work for me
It's very strange how some sites work one day and not the next...

Sorry, I am babbling....work is just about to start.....

Anything you do is really appreciated and Thank you once again for all you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found the solution:

Not every un-rar application can un-rar this file (e.g. unRarX).
When I tried a different unzipper (B1FreeArchiver for mac): presto!

Sorry for bothering you

I'm kind of all over the shop on the audios, maybe some of you go in chronological order or pick your favourite actors/actresses. I started listening to the audios about a year ago, did a search on Google for the most popular episodes and went from there. Have to say Medic 6 really impresses me much more than the dung he had to deal with on tv in the 80's.

Haven't got it yet, but will upload the 2nd adventures of Roj's lucky seven in about a week or two's time. Please be patient though, as I like to make them 128 with neat titles, etc... Prob on Mediafire unless someone wants it in either Deposit Files or Rapid Share.

Why do I have problems extracting zip files with some titles? Half way through the process it demands the password again and fails to complete the extraction. Any ideas? It's happening with most of TheJazNetworks W*I*L*D*T*H*Y*M*E titles which I'm thankful for and keen to get.

JZip. I'm trying again with B1.

Edit: that didn't work either, it kept demanding the password over and over.

Edit 2: Ok I figured out what the problem was, I downloaded Winrar per your suggestion and it tells me that I need both parts before I can extract.

As i've posted a couple of times, please don't directly name the stories - makes it far too easy for bots to index and for this thread to be found - we are trying to stay under the radar.

If you are looking for particular items, start at the last page, and right back to when the item was released - to around the middle of the month it was released and you will find it. there will be several comments about it. Please show some courtesy to the people uploading. the items will NOT be directly named as the item you are looking for to protect the thread. Show a little imagination when looking and a little patience by being willing to go back a lot of pages to find them.

I've been listening to the latest lost story - it's really wonderful. Although the william hartnell voice is not great, susan is getting better at being barbara and i'm really into it. Have the final part to listen to, then the extras. really sorry the 'lost' stories are coming to an end.

NileQT1987
08-23-2012, 01:33 AM
Just a note about the LS: that's William Russell (Ian) doing a mere impression of Hartnell. Same with Carole Ann Ford (Susan) doing Barbara.

The dead Doctors and companions have not been officially recast by any voice artists, though rules are often bent regarding Frazer Hines (doesn't need the 'he said' bits) and David Troughton (played a fake 2nd Doctor--the fact that he's supposed to be phony is probably why it was allowed--in a 4th Doctor audio), in particular.

If you're familiar with the CC range, whoever is narrating the story (usually a very limited cast) sometimes but not necessarily will do impressions of the rest of the characters. However, Peter Purves and Frazer Hines' impressions of their Doctors get them a lot of attention as they're really, really good. What's funny is when you have Anneke and Frazer doing that one co-narrated audio (TSG), you have them switching back and forth between who is doing Ben's Cockney (though Frazer does Troughton for the most part). A lot of CCs (because the range was originally envisioned for the companions who are now Doctorless, or in the case of Tom Baker's, he only recently joined BF) have companions performing the voices of other genders (same with all the novelization audios and audio exclusives), so it's often quite a bit further than William Russell just doing Hartnell. Though the LS and CC range seem to be getting more costars as of late (one of the CCs with Mary Tamm had no-one else but her--a lot will at least have a guest star). Prison in Space is an example of an LS where three people are doing their darnedest to sound like a full-cast audio (Frazer is doing Jamie, Troughton and all the male prisoners, for example), though these often still contain a narration device. Though they've increasingly done away with the 'he said'/'she said' stuff when one of the better impressionists is making it quite obvious which character is speaking (you're never going to confuse a Cockney, a Scot and Troughton clearing his throat, no matter who is speaking their lines!--the short-hand with Hartnell, of course is adding in lots of "hmm?"s and "dear boy"s).

The NSA (including the audio exclusives) range with the NuWho folks can feel somewhat similar in that they're limited cast (most of them just one person) performing all the different voices within the narration (the more vocally-diverse actors certainly go for jazzing it up with a voice repertoire, though the cross-gender stuff will always be a bit funny). Monsters are also typically all voiced by whoever is the cast du jour (sometimes through a modulator, hissy voices, etc...), though Nicholas Briggs and now Dan Starkey often pop up as their monsters' official voices (pepperpots/Cybies and potato heads, respectively).

Hope that helps new listeners understand why they are listening to our precious William Russell (87-years-young) doing more than just Ian here. Speaking of, that last CC ol' Russ did was one of the best I've ever heard (though, the CC with a 1746 Scot and a 1688 revolution is still my favorite audio of the whole lot).

Welcome new members! As in my post, you'll notice how I've obfuscated as many titles as possible. Besides using descriptions, some of us are a bit multilingual and won't mind translated titles (it's particularly funny to me when it's stuff like Matushka Rossiya--and note how perfectly obvious it is). Writing titles backwards is another option. I've done that a few times.

I started out collecting 5 'cause he's My Medic, but others quickly followed...8 then 7 and finally 6 when I started running out of the others. Six really impressed me too, and that's when I started liking him. He's had some great material w/his assistants he never had a chance to on the telly as well. I'll bet C.B. was glad to finally get some decent material to act with too!

My back list is looking like Swiss cheese, sheesh! In the main range, how on earth did I miss something as early as #89 and #100 when I've been collecting as long as I have?!? I'm also missing 114, 116, 122, 132, 133, 135, 140, 151, 153A...oh, this is getting embarrassing. I don't collect many of the assistant tales unless they have a medic in them, so I could be worse, I suppose.

Don't want to appear greedy (even tho it's obvious I need a lot of help, lol). I'm just lurking around, quietly waiting for these to appear and hopefully staying on top of new things in the meantime. BTW, I have Hxuxmxaxn Rxexsxoxuxrxcxexs part one but never saw a part two. It was just never on any of the other 'sites I've haunted, included the RIP'd Green Imp. If someone has that one as well kicking around, I'd be grateful. I don't want to listen to one part without the other.

For those who made the mistake of posting the names of certain stories here, you can fix that mistake by editing your posts so that they won't show up in future searches! We udnerstand if you didn't know better. But now you do. So please make it right.

Could you reupload it? It downloads fine, but when extracting it, it starts out fine, but then says it's corrupt when it gets to the 3rd part... :(

Hm. I'll take a look at it later and see what I can do.

Actually, there's also going to be one with the 3rd Medic as well. At least, that's what I read on the TARDIS Wikia.

I read that, who is going to be the companion/narrator though? Very sadly, many of that team have now gone to the tardis in the sky.

Does anyone have the 2nd medic tale from the 4th season with crabs but the version that has been newly released with a new voice narrating?

Also is there a new link to the archaeologist with a PhD and the second boxset that was her on a highway fall?

Thank you all so much for letting me get back up to date with my listening (and i hope that my previous request about the victorian gent and his medical friend was ok)

Okay so apparently they decided to start the sale early and have it run through the 28th! 26.67 US will net you the first season. Sweet.

Sorry to start off with a request but I shall endeavour to fulfill any future requests of stuff that I have in my collection.

Looking for unfound tales, specifically those of medics six and seven. Any links would be met with undying gratitude.

important heads up on those links

if you click on those links and go straight to the file you will get a blocked for violation message - mediafire does that for ALL links from this site as far as i can tell

you need to copy and paste ONLY the MF link - that is the only way you will be able to access the file

I think radionaught is right. The common version found anywhere you find medic fans online is an m4b thats only 28mb now compared to yours which is multiple mp3s @ 127mb. Something is obviously wrong with the smaller file. Ether someone encoded at the lowest bit rate possible or the files broken. Being a person that encodes alot of m4b files thats just wrong looking to me. I havnt listed to it though so i dont know. I collect far more then i listen to and i only get around to listening to the latest stuff. I just think ahead i figure there will be a snowy day someday and the power will go off and ill be the only one on the block with a blanket by the fireplace and 3 fully charged ipods with medic audios to keep me company lol. Anyway thanks i replaced my copy.

The link to the Various hi-qual downloads on You-Tube is currently on the aintitcoolnews, com website.
Did that myself & using Firefox & Downloadhelper got a pristine 720p for offline viewing.

NileQT1987
08-27-2012, 10:17 PM
Downloadhelper just gives you the .mp4 or .flv, which is problematic if you want a more normal-sized .avi (I hate .mp4--Handbrake has problems with converting YT .mp4s via Downloadhelper for some reason). My file is pretty consistent with .avi YouTube rips (obviously, it would look better straight from a DVD), for those that want it.

Ahh, I see. I got my audio copy of the 8th medic's webcast version of the 4th medic's lost tale from a download link on a different site where each part was separated into individual tracks. I didn't have any mp3 joining software at the time, so I bonded the tracks together in Audacity and made each part it's own individual mp3 file. The tags are based on info I gleaned from the TARDIS Wikia. You're welcome, and I'm glad you like it. Btw, I also have the audio version of the other webcast story which involves the 6th medic and the silver men, if anyone's interested.

I know this an audio thread but in for a penny, in for a pound - anyone got hold of an ebook (.mobi, etc) for the recent book "Tyres of Cold"? (I've been trying to think of a cryptic name and failed miserably!) I used to love getting the target books as a kid and sitting in front of the fire and reading the whole thing in one sitting. Nothing changes, still love a good book.

First of all, as a newb, let me thank you all for everything you're putting out there; as a burgeoning fan with MANY years of catching up to do, it's greatly appreciated.

Now the humble request: I've had difficulty finding the tale of The Cinco Compadres of our esteemed and venerable physician, from late last year. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'll be happy to help get requests out to anyone as soon as I'm un-newbed enough to not have to wait for approval every time I speak ;)
I'll get your request up in a moment. Is there any other stories you may want as well? Just wondering.

Doesn't matter - FreeAgent and a copy of QuickPar are more than capable of handling those.

I did a check of one in three of the posts and they were all multi-mp3 at 256, so not too bad.

EDIT TO ADD - And with 124 being about 400mb I'd take a punt that that's a 320kbs rip, too.

The only other one that comes to mind is... universal translator on... the initial story from the periodical publication, featuring the physician conversing 'Bout his frequent reincarnations.
You're very welcome. I don't believe I have that one, I'm afraid. But thank you for providing #124. I appreciate it.

Please!
