No.

Watching Corman's FF movie is like summoning the devil with dark magic.

Way more effective than dancing in nothing but chicken blood under the pale moonlight.

Our Jawa Master destabilized reality, so he's probably totally to blame for this.

So there is hooping and hollering in some quarters about Goldie being banned. Has anyone taken a moment to consider the likely scenario about how* that came about?

Another long term user of this thread has been banned. In this case, for pretty childish nonsense, yet the singular distrubed individual* who has held this community of hundreds here to ransom for the past couple of months continues on without consequence.

---

I appreciate that being a mod is often far from being a black & white activity, but it's a reasonable expectation when someone posts threatening to report the links of legitimate users for DCMA abuse that they are never heard of again, to say nothing of the other countless acts of anti-social behaviour and attempts to ferment conflict.

I'm quite sickened and appalled, and no longer feel capable of supporting a site that doesn't support the interests of each user equitably, if not equally. It's been real, too real in fact...

Meh. I have not done anything against the rules. You are all pirates, same as me and every other member using the download forums. Plenty of other members have not only threatened to report, but actually have. And not just the FSM fanatics. Plenty of soundtrack users object to posts of flac content, or new releases from smaller labels. None have been punished for expressing those sentiments, or opinions. I do not know why Goldie was banished, had nothing to do with me. No one said anything to me. I do not want to harm the thread, and have apologized. But regardless, no outside force needs to get it locked. Once again, you guys are well on the road to doing a great job of that yourselves.

As for posting, I have been told I can post if I want. I can not attack members, and I have not. If someone wants to know whatever happened to Goldie, write to a mod and ask for an explanation. Ask for it to be posted what caused it so that you know what not to do, if anything. But moaning about me is all you can seem to muster, when I had nothing to do with this. I merely expressed my opinion on sharing, and it is an opinion echoed by several other esteemed members here so what's the big?

i don't know about Flip yet i have heard her in 4 stories and still have no opinion on her, I am interested to hear this one to see if she warms on me. Frankly with the wealth of characters ol' Sixie has she seems to come in at the bottom of the list. How many companions does audio Sixie have? [Peri,Evelyn,Mel,Jason,Crystal,Jago,Brewster; Litefoot,Jamie, Zoe, Charley and the recurring D.I. Menzes] I just find it interesting they choose to continue with Flip. Heck i would rather have a trilogy with 6 and Iris..!

Maybe she's cheap and available.

Arranging recording times must be difficult since this isno ones first job or full time job.

6 and 7 have the most opened up time line to squash in new companions.

Someone is going to end up with Romana III at some point for a trilogy or two.

It just seems with a dozen to choose from we get her? as for squash as many in a possible. 6,7 and 8 have very open timelines toward the end -- 4 has the Pre key2time post potatohomeplanetinvasion era where you can insert lots --- 5 is the tricky one.

what is great about the current show is that once 10 and 11 get to do audios there are ready made gaps in the storyline.

Seems there's quite a lot of talk these days about getting back to "normal".

Well may I suggest the best way to accomplish that is to simply do it.

And what is "normal" more then anything else is to post those new LC monthlys we all salivate for. Thanks to our ole buddy Katrinaau we have two of them, but there are still two more we all crave that haven't posted and more to come. "Normal" business here by now we'd have all four of them.

Some folks aren't sure it's ok. Rest assure, it is. Katrinaau prove it. So what are all our generous angels waiting for? Time to go for it guys, and you know how much we'd all appreciate being "normal" again.

Incidently thanks to all you nice guys for your helpful hints for that long post I once had, which unfortunately I accidently Xed out.

Okay, been away for a wee while and after a quick glance at the previous pages I don't want to wade through quite a lot of 'shenanigans' to see if the new Space Rebel more than 6, less than 8 has been uploaded.

If not then I can sort that out for folks, but with my internet service being so pish I wanted to make sure that it's not available elsewhere.

Cheers.

Sadly, I DON'T know what to do. (am only lucky to see the post that sent me here due to being on a lunch break).
There have been several, similar, non-newbie-friendly means of sharity that I've yet to be able to crack.
(One gent did PM me with one item, but otherwise, I've been looking for some sort of "key", "legend", "rosetta stone" or such to figure it out.)

Not trying to be a whinger. And I LOVE clandestine methodologies, but without a clue to get me started...I'm just lost.

Now, if I can only find out how to do a "spoiler" box... that would be the next "key".
But I'll figure that out.

Seeing Nobbers new avatar inspired me to watch Carry on Sergant last night.
Billy H as sergant Grimshaw is heart renchinly good, made in 1958 and Hartnell's desire to play a softer character is almost tangible,
also staring Bob Monkhouse who I feel was a much underated actor.

Next on my list is This Sporting Life, I've never seen it and I know it's this film that got Hartnell the part of the Medic.

Just read the sad news about Roger Lloyd-Pack, R.I.P. and thanks so much for making me laugh till it hurt.

For a Rosetta Stone, just go to the Big Finish website and look at the releases. Titles are usually related to them in some form or other.

It's surprising how well the early B&W ones have stood the test of time. In fact, I think I'd say that most of them up to "At Your Convenience" (when they really start selling it more on the 'antics' rather than the comedy, if you see what I mean) are still watchable.

But not 'England' or 'Columbus'.

Terrible movies.

I used to have a super 8 projector when I was little and I had Carry On Doctor and Up The Jungle. I forced my family to sit and watch them in my "home cinema" after I'd forced them to buy tickets I'd printed. Good times :)

And by printed, I don't mean any of your new fangled computer stuff - I had a make your own rubber stamp set and individually stamped each ticket. I was probably a very nerdy child.

I'd say may favorite in the colour films is Screaming, the relationship between Simms and Corbet is priceless comedy, the film seems to work better without the dominating presence of Sid James, and Ms Fielding in her velvet crimson dress and the way she purred her lines... well I'll leave it there.

I'd agree that as the films went on they were slapstick heavy rather than good comedy, but enjoyable as ever.

The only one I wont watch is Emmanuel, pure dross, a sad end to a great film series.

Screaming has to be one of the best comedy films of all times, let alone the Carry On range. The whole script is pitch perfect as it captures the Hammer genre perfectly and there's some bits which are actually quite scary in concept.

Thinking about it, I don't think I've seen 'Emmanuel' properly either. I've probably started it but given up fairly soon into it.

'England' I stuck with. I'll credit that the actors were trying their best with an awful script. (One nearly as bad as 'Hellcats of St Trinians')

Where-as 'Columbus' you can't even say that anyone was actually TRYING to sell the idea. I may have to give it another go, but it just struck me that all the younger comedians they drafted in were trying to be all "hay! We're only do this to be ironic, OK!" and 'cool' about it.

Good idea Del, except for one little point. I don't know how. My cyber skills are very elemental. That's why I didn't even know how to save or post my earlier long message from the night before.

I've tried to understand how to post by reading up about it on the seemingly late but great Radio Archive, but I just can't get past all the nomenclature.

What I need is someone to come to my place and slowly show me how to do things step by step. I'd make detailed notes in my own lingo and next time I'd know.

I live in Burbank Ca. USA, so if your ever in the neighborhood and like to come over a spell and help me with the posting and maybe even show me how to use Audacity - I'd be ever so grateful.

Hey, I'll even buy you a nice lunch.

Uploading to Sendspace does not require an account with sendspace.

More anonymity, no forms to fill out.

When uploading, they do ask you if you want to leave your email, please recognize that that is optional, and that you can leave that field blank.

I uploaded Dark Peepers to Mediafire. Broke it into rars because media fire has a 200 meg file size limit, first the tell me that I can only share it with ten people and then the very next day they flag and delete the files. (sendspace has a file limit of 300 meg for free users, and if you go over that, the file fails, and doesn't exactly explain that that's why it failed.)

sendspace is very useful - no email addy needed, and self deletes after a while, although it does give you a link to delete yourself if you want to.

The most important thing to do is to change the file name to something that does not make it easy to tell what is in there :)

I had a fortuitous moment when I realised you can make links on MF private. I have my links private most of the time, then public for a short while when i share them, then private again. i'm fairly sure it doesn't violate copyright if i just have the files online privately without sharing them, which means i'm mostly in the clear and only briefly vulnerable if ever.

Haha, you're more than welcome :) I've watched the first episode of The Moonbase and I really do like the animation. The "coming soon" is for The Underwater Menace so I'm guessing that's had the same treatment (unless, and I really hope this happens, they announce more episodes from the omnirumour). Count Duckula is a complete coincidence. I've been part-ex-ing dvds for ages at CEX so I had loads of store credit. Today they had Count Duckula complete so I pounced. It felt like it cost me nothing so I'm delighted!

In the Vampire Hall of Fang-yia,
There's not a vampire zanier than Duckula.
He won't bite beast or man,
'Cos he's a vegetarian,
And things never run to plan for Duckula.
If you're looking for some fun,
You can always count upon,
The wild and wacky one they call Duckula.

Duckula started as a character in a Danger Mouse story, the he did a Captain Jack and got his own show!

Well enjoy it Del!
Watching Moonbase tomorrow, may have to get on the net to get a few Duckula's to go with it now!

While I wait in anticipation of shared version of CC Moon Formerly-known-as-Imperiatrix, I thought I'd ask.. Did LC's Homeworld series get any better? I was interested, with Juliet Landrau as another Romana, but I was bored with it by Series II. I'd be willing to give it another go if anyone can change my mind..

Personally ... I thought it sucked. Juliet was good, mind you, but the whole thing just got too 'up' itself.

Bugger! I was hoping you'd tell me otherwise. Still, good to know that I was not alone in my overall "bored" opinion with the series. Perhaps we can hope for a spin-off or something like that with Juliet.

A bit off-topic, but my Eight shirt from TeeFury finally came today! It was supposed to be here Wednesday, but it arrived a couple of days late. Right now, I put it in the wash just to be on the safe side. I'll try it on when I get it out of the drier later. Now, to say something that's ON topic, I can't wait to hear the new CC! Romana's become one of my fave characters as of late, so I can't wait to experience this! :)

which color did you end up getting? I thought about it really, REALLY hard and then decided I just had too many t-shirts and saved the artwork. :D

I opted for the charcoal one, as I'm very fond of gray. Plus, it just suited the style of the artwork better for me than the other colors.

sweet! the charcoal was the one I was leaning towards also. The artwork really popped on the navy and the taupe hilighted certain features of the artwork...but, charcoal for the win!

Hello, everyone!

I'm a bit of a newbie here. I've known of the Big Finish "Who" audio adventures for some time now. I've always meant to get some of them, but strangely enough, never got around to it. Now there are so MANY of the bloody things, I wouldn't even know where to begin! I intend to get the multi-Doctor stories - "Sirens of Time" and "Light at the End", but other than that, I was hoping that you kind folks could give me some recommendations - ?

I'm a HUGE fan of McGann's Eighth Doctor. The '96 tv-movie had more than its fair share of flaws, but I was immediately captivated by McGann's portrayal of the character, and was elated to hear that his incarnation continued on in the BF audio plays. I'm also a big fan of McCoy's Seventh Doctor, too. I liked how his crafty, sometimes dark nature was hidden by such a deceptively goofy exterior. But you never forget your FIRST Doctor, and for me that was Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor. He's far and away my very favorite. Ever since I saw his stories played sporadically on my local PBS station in the late 70s and early 80s, I was in thrall of his portrayal of the character.

So... Keeping mind that I'm quite wet behind the ears when it comes to the story arcs and interconnected history established in the Big Finish audio adventures, would anyone mind giving me some suggestions for some stories starring Doctors 4, 7, and 8?

Thank you so much! I appreciate it!

Thank you so much! I appreciate it!

With so many releases/ranges these days it's actually getting harder to recommend folks where to begin apart from, well, at the beginning!

In terms of 'arcs'; all of 8ths in the Main Range and the Adventures pretty much run into each other, as do the 7+Ace+Hex stories.

Honestly, your best bet is to grab the mega-torrent of all the releases and just start at the beginning!

But if that's a bit daunting and you want to 'dip your toes', then the 8th Doctor Adventures with Lucie Miller are a damn good place to start.

Okay, so the Pedia of Wiki is calling the upcoming dvd release of the Moonbase as the 5th to contain animated recon episodes.

Which of these animated recons is not being counted here?

The Reign of Terror; Mission to the Unknown; The Tenth Planet; The Ice Warriors; The Invasion.

Secondly, Emerald13 has very kindly upped the links on post 21611.

now for the Eighth Doctor.
There are two sets: the main range 8th Doctor stories, and the Eighth Doctor Adventures. They are independent of each other but pretty much completely serial, so just listen to them in order.
the main range 8th Doctor stories go in this order:

BF16 Storm Warning (new arc which continues for the rest of the Main Range)
BF17 Sword of Orion

BF83 Something Inside
BF88 Memory Lane
BF101 Absolution
BF103 The Girl Who Never WasWhereas the EDAs are pretty self-explanatory and are followed immediately by the Dark Eyes box-set.

For the Fourth Doctor, you just want the Fourth Doctor Lost Stories and Companion Chronicles, and the Fourth Doctor Adventures. The LSs are in a single box-set; the CCs don't seem to be in any serial order; and the numbering for the FDAs is self-explanatory.

have fun!

I loved it. Finished it and immediately wanted to restart and listen all over again.
The thing is, it isn't standalone: it has quite a lot of backstory necessary for receiving the full experiential effect.
This is why I wouldn't recommend it as one of the first stories a newbie listens to.

Hey, here's the deal. Before this drama, I'd never had any contact with her. Not a friend, not an enemy, not even an acquaintance. The only pm contact was in trying to get this thread opened again. I did not turn on her, not did I suggest banning. I did not know she was, I don't care she was, I don't know which mod did. She made some poor choices in taunting about shares, and quoting aggressive comments from other forums here. I said nothing, but I would wager mods read the thread more these days.

So, my point is ignore it. Don't argue over it. Just, let her be she is her own worse enemy. But all the infighting it generates here is not good for keeping things on-track or open. I am not out to "get" anyone, as I promised to leave it be. But don't let the petty bring you down after getting things going AGAIN....

Davros, I dont know you or if it was intentional, but that was an unbelievably patronising comment before you THEN took the high ground.

Goldie may have done your favours in the past or PM'd you links (which I have no issue with) but her mood swings and poisonous posts on here were not welcome. Only this week she was calling a female user a fat old man with shrunken genitalia!? Oh she's a lovely person. Cherished member. She absolutely wasnt always like that, but of late she has been very rude. Please bear that in mind before taking her side against looshkin who, for my money, has never done anything publically that I would call appalling.

In other news, thank you for sharing with the site the CC. Always grateful.

I take your point, I did not mean at all that to sound patronising , sorry if it did. I agree she acted bad on the wall, like she was deliberately trying to wind people up but when she PM me she was different some how. Almost... Upset. I think the hurtful comments from the PM's did get to her and made her a bit... Mad!!! Which is not an accuse because there is no accuse for calling someone names!!! I understand what your saying. Just feel a bit sorry for her . Any woo, I was the one who said drop it now I'm going on about it , sorry everyone!!![COLOR="Silver"]

With all due respect Looshkin....

Why start a message with "all due respect" and then show none. That is a very vicious and nasty thing you just did. To report the alleged contents of an alleged pm is an absolute disgrace and, whoever you are, you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.

It seems to me that over the last month, a lot of people have suddenly become rather touchy. It all rather flared up in a short time. I wonder if there's an underlying cause of all the trouble. Sad that whatever is happening, it's costing us members. I wish people could just rise above it all and continue doing what they've previously been doing. Posting and talking about audio adventures and the travails of the Medic as a whole.

To Spacedog2k5 and anyone else wondering 'should I listen to this 'cos I've heard it's crap' ... the answer is YES. Listen to them and make your own mind up. We're all individuals with our own opinions and just because some people don't like a particular story it doesn't mean that you won't. If you find you don't like a story, switch it off...

Good choice, this is the one I most want to see too.
I've listened to all the various audiobooks, read the book and watched the Loose Cannon reconstruction which is pretty good but probably they could do better now with all the new techniques they employed in their last few recons.

John Peel's book was a good read I suppose but it did'nt have the feel of a true episode adaption as so much of it was his own input.

now for the Eighth Doctor
the main range 8th Doctor stories go in this order:
BF153 The Silver Turk (follows on from BF123 The Company of Friends_Mary's Story)
BF16 Storm Warning (new arc which continues for the rest of the Main Range)

you forgot The Witch From The Well and Army of Death, they follow The Silver Turk

I really believe Fury From The Deep will remain a classic just so long as nobody gets to see it! The Troughton stories sometimes tended to over-use foam, with bad results & I can imagine Fury being one of those!

I like a lot of Julie's stuff so play around on the site, you might find something you like.

With regards to leaving what has happened in other places there, I agree, that is exactly what has been said elsewhere that drama from here is not wanted or will be accepted there. That is the only drama it has had.

You don't want the other place mentioned but you are quite happy to slate it. So I will not mention it other than to address what you have called it.

Exclusive: yes it could possibly be called that it is restricted to people who are trusted by people who are members. That is done to protect the links mostly. It is not done however for it to be for a select few.

Clique: No because others are allowed to join. I think only 1 person that someone asked to be invited got turned down.

Oh and kowtow is also incorrect no subservience and no worship is needed.

That is all I will say on the subject.

andyb2011

To add to DrWho001's post; the other place isn't a forum for the elite - it's a place that was set up as a back-up for this place. If you've been around long enough you'll notice that the place closes at regular intervals while the owners try to scrape up enough cash to keep going. It was posted at the time that all people had to do was PM DrWho001 for a link to said forum.

It doesn't look like you were around at the time so you probably wouldn't know any of this. We allowed (still do I believe) anyone in there and although has caused a bit of bother here, Goldie is still active over there. And we don't normally talk shit about other posters over there, although there have been a few altercations there lately.

Personally, however, given the fact that around 90% of your posts here have been attempts to start an argument or just plain insults about the group here and at 'the other place', I would ask DW001 to make an exception to his rule and block your joining even if you tried.

I do agree with you about leaving the problems from one forum on that forum and not carrying them over.

I can't help but think we could learn something from this.

Buffalo Springfield - Stop Children What's That Sound - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjSpO2B6G4s)

there's something happinin here
what it is aint exactly clear
theres a man with a gun over there
tellin me i got to beware

i think it's time we stop, children
what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

there's battle lines being drawn
nobody's right if everybody's wrong
young people speakin there minds
getting so much resistance far behind

it's time we stop,
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

what a field day for the heat
a thousand people in the street
singing songs that they're carrying signs
mostly say hurray for our side

it's time we stop,
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's goin down

Par-a-noia strikes deep
into your life it will creep
it starts when your always afraid
step out of line the man come and take you away

we better stop
hey what's that sound
everybody look what's going down x4

On the other hand... we could be realistic. Looshkin is a great guy. I flat out refuse to believe he tried to get anyone banned. As far as sending questionable insults, she's the one insulting us by thinking we'd believe that garbage. Goldie is a drama queen. She "leaves" every other day but never actually gives us any peace by lurking. She used to be a reliable alarm clock for when new releases were announced because she'd be here within five minutes asking for them. Something she still does when she has a 'long drive' ahead of her. She started posting some items and all of a sudden we have members thanking her profusely and building statues of her. Why? Read this thread from the beginning. We used to have members who would reliable share every single month. They were content when we hit the 'like' button.

(Incidentally, that's why forums have buttons like that. So they're not cluttered up with three pages of one word posts. If you absolutely feel the need to thank somebody, add to the current discussion at the same time. No one can fault you for that.)

Back on topic. Everything that this thread craves in terms of release titles shows up quite quickly. Even with our long lost posters (we miss you foe) not delivering like they used to. So why all this fuss over Goldie? Apart from some scattered shares (all of which are appreciated) what is her actual contribution to the thread? Scapegoat? This thread has started to feel like a reality tv show in just how ridiculously unjustified we pay attention to this one person. Why don't we shift that attention back to the five something members we had who delivered every month without being asked or expected us to reward them?

If the battle lines are being drawn, I suggest you choose your side wisely. I think you'll find that the troublemakers can't keep their friends. Especially when they're bought and paid for with 'exclusive' shares that show up here anyway one day later. Since I'm not on the other site, could somebody do me a favor and send this to her? She can add me to the list.
