Welp, my "This is #4" physical disc (signed) arrived today and I must say I am impressed that LC managed to cram so much awesomeness into such a transparent, almost entirely not there package.

So I got my LC white mailer, but it was enclosed in a plastic sealed bag. "Hm" I thought. I applied some pressure to it and noticed that there was either nothing in the mailer, or LC had come up with a way to make magic discs that only apply to the very wise.

Turning it over, I discovered a note from customs indicating that sadly my package had been destroyed. They sent me the envelope the ensure I knew that something had been sent at all..


This sort of ruined my weekend.

It reminds me of an envelope I received once, from my sister, in a plastic bag. A note from the Police said they caught up with a postal worker who'd stolen a heap of mail. All it would have been was a card, which was missing. So they just sent me the empty envelope!

There seems to be a problem with disc 5 on this. it was re-uploaded, but still has the same problem. Might be best to wait until it's properly fixed. The uploader is pretty good though, and sorts things out quickly enough.

There was no explanation attached to the package. It was just ripped open on one side and then sealed in a plastic bag. I could conspiracy theorize it all day. It being damaged and then violently ripping itself free - or a postal worker violently ripping it out of the side rather than the pop open top seems odd. I'll never know.

Happily, Joe Smith at LC told me hed be working to get a new one sent to me asap but that a resign was dependant on #6 being in studio before they got it out.

So I admit I'd rather wait and get it signed than just get a cd, I sort of have a nice collection of me and my sons with classic medics in photos and their signed cd's going on on my wall that I dont really want to break...

This is like a textbook example of why I dislike Clara and think she needs to go. It's like the episode was written to show that the entire world agrees with me.

Her existence aside, I did like it and thought it would have been a phenomenal episode if he had arrived by himself into the situation. I mean she does literally nothing except mimic what hed do.

Would anyone happen to have the New first story from the second season of P@thf!nd�rs L3g3nds the Role Playing Game now set in Egypt or in that vein?

I will happily discuss the merits of the character if you want to. I'd PREFER to discuss it rather than to just give my reasons for not liking her and then getting jumped for being a crazy hating fanboy.

The Crazy Hating Fanboy in me is still angry that Frobisher has not made an appearance in nuWho, given the vastly superior CG capabilities making it easy for him to be a companion for *at least* 8 years.

That's exactly how I used to feel about people who used to drum up any kind of criticism they could think of under the sun of why David Tennant's Medic was so bad in their minds. The worst one I ever heard was complaints that Tennant "overacted too much". I had 2 responses to those people that I'd reply with. The first -and most common- one I used was "...and Tom Baker didn't?", because he was the Medic they'd cite as being the "perfect one". My other response was more elaborate, where I said "You see overacting, I see fanboyish glee and enthusiasm. Tennant is a man who decided to be an actor when he was a kid just so he could play the Medic. He's living his childhood dream, so shut up! Plus, some of the most legendary actors of all time achieved that status by overacting! Best example I can think of is Peter O'Toole!".

i think more 5th medic stuff is due in January they tend to roate the 5th 6th and 7th medic to 1 trilogy a year and then do i series on 5-6-7 [ie the 198 199 history Secret 200 and last years 1963] the next trio of 5-6-7 starts right after the 5th medic trio with nyssategan ; and then every once in a while throw a short 4 parterstory in there [1001 evenings ; breaking bubblies; and this year you are the medic] and that on will be a 5th medic on this ;

so next year will will be getting 5 out of 13 monthly medics a 5th along with the monster release. ..we might even see a second Mathboy release

"you arnt me"? Yes. "stop acting like me"? Yes. "act like a companion"? No. That's where your personal feelings come into it: the Medic is worried because acting like him is dangerous, you just don't like the character and want her to act "like a companion would". White House didn't want to show that the aforementioned companion is a bad companion, he wanted to show the character dynamics between the two.

In the meantime, LC are announcing something in about half an hour. They seem to be implying it's going to be big.

Clearly the "We won't and can't touch anything related to the T1me War" era of LC is dead and gone.

Not sure how I feel about it. I think it might end up being like #6's regen story in that it is a good couple sets of episodes that sort of putter out. Kind of like the Pepperpot Empire stuff.

Now *this* is my idea of a Monday morning surprise! They've been busy little worker bees at LC - and secretive, too.

Like kimekaro, I'm not sure how I feel about this, though it's for a different reason. I'm one of those who believe the war will lose a lot of its mystique if we delve into it too much. I like the War Medic, but I think Final Chrono Warfare stories should be done with care to avoid the possibility of wearing it out.

Edit: Though now that I think about it, if you're going to do Final Chrono Warfare stories the audio format would probably be the best way to go, since much of the war has been left to the imagination.

actually i always think of the 5th and 6th Doctors his companions were always complaining; bitching or moaning [mathboy; mouth on legs; schoolboy and miss brown ...] at least the Princess was contrary half of the time.

I'm OK with WD ... apart from my browser insisting that most of time I really meant to type 'WD40'.

IStill don't like the concept of the WD at all. But, gosh darn it, it's John Hurt!!
I confess that I had some reticence about him too, even though it was John Hurt playing him. But his performance in "The Day of the Medic" combined with the sheer audacity of an incarnation of the Medic being introduced retroactively just really appealed to me. Maybe I'm like Moffat in that I'm just willing to "embrace the heresy" a bit.

There were 2 moments for me that sold me on the War Medic: 1. He was examining the Moment for the first time and trying to figure out how it works, which prompts him to quietly mumble to himself "Why isn't there ever a big red button...?". 2. When he, Ten, and Eleven are surrounded by Queen Elizabeth I's guards and one of them said "We're looking for the Doctor!", his appropriately snarky reply is "Well, this has all the makings of your lucky day..." followed by one of the most epic smirks I've ever seen. I'm surprised it hasn't become an internet meme at this point, honestly.

Yeah, and I'm just awaiting for them to announce a comic adaptions series, which would HAVE to feature Frobisher. I'd also hope for more stories with Izzy as-well. (Her story being one of my favourite LC stories)

Excellent, apart from the fact that ABC are closing down its retail stores for online. There are only some select ABC/ newsagents around near me. I have one at the local shops, but it hardly has anything. Still, it is good news!

Ultimas EEEVVVIIIILLLL, Masque of Evil and Iced Burger are on ABB (however some are in 40-80GB 'complete collections', so depends on download allowance and hard drive capacity); however Genisys of the Pepperpots isn't anywhere. As for the NSAs I think they may be on ABB somewhere, however I'd rather have the abridged versions so I can hear Free Man Agey Man etc. read them.

I guess anything that obscures the original words. You c0uld substitute th1ingz, s0rt of, l1ke h0w I've dun here. There are no set rules. Mind you, Medic is one substitution that always seems to be used. For the main range stuff you'd say , perhaps, monthly 185. Just use you imagination. People will usually ask if you're being too obscure.

I'm having an issue with the monthly. Firstly, it's in m4b format, which I can't use. Secondly, when I converted it to mp3 format and load it in Audacity to do my usual thing, the theme music starts and runs for 28 seconds then cuts off for little over 2 minutes of complete silence before starting up again in mid-sentence of one of the characters. It seems to be all fine after that. Is there any way to fix that? Or is it possible that dwst3's upload got corrupted? Or did my audio conversion software muck something up?

That sucks. I got it to convert completely to mp3 with the program I used. It wasn't until I plunked it into Audacity to do my usual "One mp3 file per individual part" routine that I noticed the issue outlined in my previous post. I sincerely hope this will be rectified soon. I've been really looking forward to hearing this one. Especially since I'm a big fan of Marc Platt's other DW stories.

GoldenGeekTales – When I checked the link several hours after posting it to make sure it was still working, I found your apology posting. I had no idea what you were talking about until I backtracked the posting and found what you were referring to (posting #31199). If I had seen this posting before I put up the monthly link, I wouldn't have bothered putting up the link for this month. I do not care how enthusiastic/impatient you are to listen to stories, you're not the only one. I have a heavy workload some days and sometimes I just can't post early. Also, I never committed to any time frame for posting. If you can't wait to hear a story, you can buy it. And save the financial limitations excuse. If you want something bad enough, you can budget for it or live without it.

The PM – I can't believe this one. I received a PM requesting the link for the Monthly that I already posted. When I replied that poster did find the link and all was well.

I just recently had medical issues come up and have only been back at work full time for two weeks. I had deadlines earlier this week that I had to meet. I have to take some of that work home this weekend in order to stay on top of things (something I hate doing). My point: I don't need this kind of nonsense. My patience is really thin right now. Sharing what I have is actually one of the few joyful things in my life and right now that seems more like a chore. I, or any other person who shares, do not need crap like this. If I see anything like this again, I'm though with uploading.

Please do not PM me for links. They are posted for a certain amount of time and are taken down for the security of this board. If you have a request, post it on the forum. Many people here are quick to fill it.

And that s EXACTLY why I stopped uploading what I buy a little over a year ago. I feel sorry for the genuine people who are nice and polite, because I loved the sharing aspect due the fact that I cant buy everything, and I considered it like a swap meet and I could fill in the gaps in what I did not buy. However it pissed me off that people then started to expect things and even demand things.
People should remember that these have to be purchased with real money. As I type this I am listening to the latest early adventure, 18 months ago I would have been uploading it here, but I wont do that now. The few impatient gimmies that never give back have ruined it for the masses.

Id also like to add my appreciation of what you have contributed and all those who have been gracious enough to share before you. Ive had the great pleasure of hearing amazing drama I would never have heard otherwise.

Its part of the reason I "left" here... ok I admit I still check in and read posts from people, but I withdrew from active participation due to peoples perceived entitlement to everything for free.
As I said I cant and don't buy everything, but I do buy a lot. I have found other places to fill my gaps of what I don't buy, places where people don't simply expect and don't have mental meltdowns.
I miss how this place used to be and the fun that used to be had here, and I check in out of some kind of loyalty and misty eyed memory of what used to be, however 90% of the time when I do come here, I am simply reminded of why I don't bother anymore!
