I have seen them 24 times over the years and they never fail to impress me, unlike some bands that just rest on their laurels and rely on past hits. Its a bit like Who and Trek really, people have eras they prefer, some they dislike, but the machine keeps a rolling, with new product for us fans to lap up lol!

You are in for a good night, they were on fire in Birmingham! I was worried that Bruce (the singer for those not in the know). may have lost it after his throat cancer last year.... however not one bit of it. He sounds better than he has in years, and as ever with Maiden live, you know its not backing tapes because of the way he changes things and reacts to the audience and rest of band!

Well the series that he appeared on ITV after THe Saint and before Bond was with Tony Curtis called The Persuaders

I also remember him mainly for his role as 'The Saint'. As a kid I tried to catch all the Ivanhoe series as well, if playing with mates allowed. It was very good for it's time, not sure if it would stand up now though. Still happy memories.

Far too much, 'Oh look Doctor, we're in a plain looking base with long grey corridors & lighting built into the ceiling,' and 'Get back Nyssa, this jelly-like substance that they've almost completely covered me in, right up to my head looks dangerous.'

That sort of thing seems like real amateur hour. There was a time when LC proved that audio drama doesn't need all that. You can just have normal conversations & the listener will automatically fill in the details. It's disappointing to see them slipping back into it.

I have been listening and wondering, "WHY all the superfluous descriptors?"
I know they're trying to "help" but real people don't speak that way and it just tears me out of the story.

you do know that the they do 3 set of trilogies a year.....--- one for each monthly Doctor 5th,6th,7th ; they do a trilogy of sorts featuring each monthly Doctor l[ example are the locum doctors; the master trilogy.. and this time 2 parters] and then they rotate 1 release a year as four 1 parters rotating the doctor s [last year was Tulough and the 5th Doctor]

I've never really listened to LC's C-M range before but jumped straight into v5. If I go back and listen to v1-4 will it have really spoiled any major plot lines for me?

well the fires four box sets of Counter measure are set in the 60's and meant to be 1 [arc] or storyline and then Who killed Toby Kinsilla was the special that jump the series 10 year into 1973 and continued in the box set..... you don't have to listen to the first 4 to get into the new counter measures but the first four should be listen together....

and the next series isn't out until December

and technically it isn't series 5 but a whole new production.... sorta like Avengers and New Avengers
with Who kill Toby as a special and then a full series 1 and then full series 2

I don't think it counts - as that happened in the virtual world, not the real one.
Now, if 12 takes that idea and uses it (in case his eyes falter again), THEN that might be a factor to his next incarnation / regeneraton being "problematic".

While I think that 10's meta crisis re generation MIGHT have been a way to avert the threat of V, it was never addressed in any way, so I was happy to leave that as head-canon.
But NOW... with the promise of a difficult regen... now's the time to split him in twain and have a goodie and a baddie (OR make #13 a very short-lived bad incarnation - one season - and hope that all the newer fans don't jump ship).

The V is now a paradox, as far as TV is concerned, as Medic has passed his 13th regen. They'd have a hard time shoe-horning him in given everything LC have done too, although I'd love them to try just so I could complain about it. :D

He's become a temporal abberation and his very existence threatens the web of time. It's a good way to dodge the line from Trial that placed him between the 12th and final regeneration

Precedent has been set - I wonder how many NuWho fans had heard of Davros, The Master or Sarah Jane? I agree it's unlikely but we can always hope. Even if BF pretty much own the Valeyard now, after Night of the Doc BF stuff is canon isn't it?

That would be the big question, if it does turn out to be the Brickyard, will it be the same actor or someone else in the role. And if it is another actor, how to explain the changed appearance. Or, if it HAS to be the same actor, say he's able to dial down his age like Mrs. Medic could (or have him steal just enough orange flame from the changing Twelve to do so) and let our last sight be him starting to do just that with the help of a little CGI.

i think you can get away with a different actor, it could be the the vale earlier in his personal timeline, before trial, so that could explain it away

Yeah I feel the same way about nu series 3-partners. Part 1 always seems the best and the rest never quite living up to expectations.

Seems that the Medic's people have been wiped out if the new episode is to be believed.

I really enjoyed this three parter. This season goes from strength to strength. One of the reasons was because each part was distinctly different with different storytelling methods. It's interesting that the big mystery of who was in the vault was really a diversion from the larger twist in the middle of the story with the faux regeneration and Will killing the Medic. Will just gets better and better with each episode, as does Pete. And I'm liking what they're doing with the Mistress, especially that last scene. Now roll on the cold fighters next week! Time for a certain writer to redeem himself after a universally panned episode last season.

Also watched the Levine reconstruction of the old Adams story. The animation was sub-par, and the guy filling in for Baker was hit and miss. At times he sounded dead-on, but overall his performance lacked that certain something that is uniquely Tom. I really enjoyed this three parter. This season goes from strength to strength. One of the reasons was because each part was distinctly different with different storytelling methods. It's interesting that the big mystery of who was in the vault was really a diversion from the larger twist in the middle of the story with the faux regeneration and Will killing the Medic. Will just gets better and better with each episode, as does Pete. And I'm liking what they're doing with the Mistress, especially that last scene. Now roll on the cold fighters next week! It was clearly stated that the statues were needed to transmit the messages. This would have all worked better if Bill's message was to tear down the statues. (Instead of that nonsensical mom stuff.) We could have seen clips of diverse groups of people cooperating to take action. That would have been an inspirational & FITTING ending, relevant to the subject matter.

If they switched the bloodlines holding each planet down broadcasting into the population via the statues, that'd shake every world awake by making them wonder why they suddenly think that they are aliens.

Thank God we're all back on here. Got home from a con trip with the girlfriend, too. I went to Awesome Con. Didn't get a pic with Tennant nor his autograph, but I'm glad to have had fun. Plus, my girlfriend insisted that John Barrowman hug me in our photo op and he practically glomped me because I was in my Ten costume. He even commended me on getting the sideburns right, which he says many Ten cosplayers just forgo altogether. Oh, and I got my poster for the original Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" movie from 2002 signed by Stan Lee himself. I didn't get to chat at all, because he's old and was signing as many as he could, but it was still worth it to be near him. Oh, and I also met Catherine Tate, and she was such a sweetheart! She even called me "Doctor" when I got my pic taken with her! She also appreciated my gushing about her character Nan, because she said she's never sure if Americans got the joke behind her character. I told her it reminded me of a family friend who behaved similarly to her to cover up his softer side, which is what I think Nan definitely does to some degree. Anyway, enough gushing from me. Talk to all of you later!

I'd imagine that they'd try to be as faithful to the original sounds & theme as possible.
Between Moff, Capald! and Brigs; those three guys would want to go full-on authentic.

But, alas, I'm torn.
Looking forward to these episodes but don't want to see P.C. go.

If only his previous season/series scripts were as good as his final season/series.

I just hope the returning Simm has been dosed with valium this time round. I have always loved the Master, but I never took to his version at all. From what i read in some early spoiler-free reviews, Simm's playing the role with a lot more restraint this time. Which would probably explain why he's looking more classic Master-like with the beard and such now. :)

Yes, I've really enjoyed this series, and you're right, Bill is what has made it refreshing. What a great character she is, played wonderfully by Pearl Mackie.

Loved this week's episode, except for the Moffattisms - stupid banter which he thinks is funny, but isn't, that kind of thing. I love it when it gets all serious like this. It's so much creepier than the RTD conversions with the comical (and impractical) saws. And a tear that worked, that one got me. I hope next weeks' episode continues on from this, not like some Moffatt two-parters where it starts off from something different altogether. Damn you Moffatt. Just when you start making the series good again you leave.

I agree with all the comments folks & for me Cap Paul Deee IS the strongest of the new whoooo medics.What a great episode though..this episode and the Ice Men episode have been my absolute favourites and i too don`t want to see Cap Paul Deeee go.

Yes, a number of colonoscopies - they're not too bad in themselves, but the preparation is the shits...

I'm with you. I just hope it builds on the great episode we've just had. Yes, that piston noise pisses me off - God, C3P0's whirrs are more acceptable. No chance of them sneaking up on you.

Simm only had me fooled the first time he appeared in the episode (when Bill was still in the bed).
When he came back again the 2nd time (when Bill was hiding behind the curtain), I saw some familiarity with the eye expressions.
Then, when he appeared again and spoke directly to her, I saw right through the disguise.

LOVED the ep!
HATED the boot-stomp sfx!

BUT, I have theories to share (behind the spoiler curtain):

The eventual resolution of the whole CyberBill is of the following:


If the Cyberperson IS Bill (and NOT just a recording OF Bill saying those words -with a metaphorical glimpse of her inside the Eye -which would allow for her to just walk back in the room next episode,) THEN the only way to fix it would be for TIME to factor in.

The Doctor already said they couldn't trust the TARDIS' precision that close to a black hole, SO...if they do try to escape and the TARDIS "accidentally" brings them back to the start, so they can grab Bill before she gets killed...
BUT AS for the Master, they "leave him to die" (which, if you remember was what she said in her first (re)appearance AS Mizzy)...

AND, the Time displacement somehow factors in to the Master forgetting he was ever there. Thus Missy doesn't remember.
(All she does remember is that the Medic left him/her to die)

Either way, the DOCTOR had to do something dangerous to get wounded so badly that he is beginning the regeneration (as seen in the pre-flashback opening scene).

The kicker is that MIZZY first appeared in the company of... CYBRMEN!
So, she was a he and regenerated on THAT ship and then returned to Earth with some CYBRMEN (using R&D from the years-advanced section of the ship) and began her first act if revenge for what happens in THIS session-ending 2-parter.

PLUS...to add to the mind-blowing timey-wimey...

Mizzy arrives and is obviously working with tech (Because of the cybrmen), she has a memory that she is connected with the Doctor NOT having a companion (the loss OF Bill, ONE way or the other), so she does her best to find him the ideal companion, the PERFECT one that will bring him MORE along the lines of thinking that she - Missy - thinks (in order to bring her friend back to her), so she gives her the TARDIS phone number to the PERFECT companion, who happens to need some tech advice at the time:
CLARA!

It's just that The Medic isn't quite the same man at that point, being his earlier regeneration. it'll take time for the new companion to bring him around to Mizzy's way of thinking...

BECAUSE, she ALSO remembers (probably due to Tlme Lord mind meld "contact" with herself/himself during THIS adventure) that the Doctor was trying to change her to be more like HIM, in order to get his old friend back, so, in her warped mind, she decides to make HIM more like HER first!

Timey-Wimey!

THEN, with this harrowing adventure over - due to the time-displacement effect of the black hole - the wounded Medic appears in ANTARCTICA to meet with the dying version of his FIRST self!
Where they then team up to save GalllFrey for Christmas. (if you recall, #1 wasn't in a lot of 10th Planet - so there's some time for him to wander off and wear himself a bit thin.)

Clara wasn't the perfect Missy-like Companion until after she was upgraded.

However, Ian and Barbara had equal computer skills to Clara 1.0, and they were wonderful.

When was he last "alien"? Season 18? We know more about him these days than ever before! He was scoffing crisps and chips on Saturday whilst demonstrating why sonic toys have felt tips inside and riffing on the name of the show.

As the show's written by mere humans, the old "he's so alien with other-worldly values hence you'll never understand him" argument doesn't work for me. It's still a tv drama.
