You ever thought of using one of the multiupload sites instead of Mediafire. You would only upload once but it would create numerous links at various sites (giving more chance for downloaders). Not as good as having an account at somewhere like Mediafire but if your accounts are being cancelled anyway, maybe it's worth you looking into?

I am looking for these two to fill the empty spaces: Berny Winterfield - The Adventure of the D*i*o*g*e*n*e*s D*a*m*s*e*l (9x3 - ie the one thats missing from the torrent) and Many *H*A*P*P*Y R*E*T*U*R*N*S (i.e., the new one)

I'm a bit glum! Every time I've put a file up here mediafire has shut down my account... I hate when that happens. Now you can't check the stats.

If you clone my work to a major site: it is easy to find, prove it is mine, and have it removed. Having your file and/or account removed is relatively painless compared to some of the more outrageous possibilities.

If you going to publish public shares, you need to either; A) hold the Copyright (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright),

Cheeky question - but is the theme in there the one that came with it, or have you 'fan edited' it?

Just that it's not the one I would have expected.

(Not that there's anything wrong with the one used as it's by far my favourite of his themes and certainly better than that terrible thing they used earlier in the year.)

They used the same theme for the EDA.

They used the same theme for the EDA.

But that's the odd thing. The Arnold variant was only used on the first EDA series. Briggs V1 for S2, Brigss V2 for S3 and 4. Hence why I initially wondered about the 'fan edit' aspect. Chronologically I would have expected the Briggs variant.

I'm not complaining, though, the Arnold version is THE 8th Doctor theme. (And far superior to that awful Gold-esque thing that Robertson did for the Shelley stories. Can't stand that one.)

Actually, for all this stories faults I think they did a brilliant job on the sound design and music palette. Very understated.

andyb2011
11-15-2012, 03:25 PM
Been a long time since I listened to them, but I thought the EDA all had the same theme (not the ones from the main monthly series). Gotta agree with you about the theme from the Shelley stories tho.

Haven't had chance to listen to the latest set, so can't comment.

Nobber
11-15-2012, 04:12 PM
Definitely three versions in the EDAs. Just checked as I couldn't remember which series had the first Briggs variant. S1 is the Arnold V2 (round about Chimes onwards; not quite as much pure bass as the first take). S2 is Briggs' very layered take on the Derbyshire theme, and S3 and 4 is the Mk II of the previous version with less layering and better stereo separation. (Briggs V2, IMHO, isn't a bad 'generic' theme)

Split archive uploads on MediaFire can only be downloaded around 10 - 12 times except by the uploader. It's a newish rule to stop people getting round the file size limit for free accounts.

No problems.

So we're supposed to name the split archives so that they seem foreign to each other, and then leave instructions on how they can be renamed to unrar successfully?

That's madness.

People are stealing babies and selling their organs on the black market but I'm being treated like a criminal just becuase I'm a criminal.

I wonder if I can rename the rars inside my medifire-myfiles?

(or just not use medifire.)

There's a %99 chance that these links have been permanently blacklisted, but I just renamed them all not to have the apparent likeness of split rars which are still easily identifiable as split rars to the human eye.

Can some one check to see if it worked?

I'd say don't use Spilt Archives, fullstop.

Regardless of naming convention it's easy for them to check the file attributes to see if it's a Split one or not. Simply manually ensure that each archive is below your upload limit. One story part per archive, for instance, where you can.

The Doctor Who Audio Dramas (http://www.dwad.net/index.php) have pulled out all the stops for a multi Doctor story. That’s DWAD Doctor’s, and all five of them. Plus a bear – you know, the one with the eye-patch. It’s called
The Call of Pudsey.
DOWNLOAD HERE (http://www.dwad.net/catalogue/call%20of%20pudsey.html)

All indications are that the Planet Skaro (http://www.planetskaro.org.uk/index.php) team have turned their cheery, japery style up to 11. Party hats and all. The short story is up.
Many Happy Returns
LISTEN HERE (http://www.planetskaro.org.uk/creative/audio/happyindex.php)

Dam Productions (http://www.damproductions.org/) were thinking of doing an audio, but then against type went and did a short film,
Pudsai.
WATCH PUDSAI HERE (http://www.doctorwho.damproductions.org/2001/03/pudsai.html)

Now remember, these people had to switch off the telly and maybe even sweat a little to make these. An unnerving thought, and hopefully enough to get you donating a little something to the Children in Need appeal. David Tennant says so too.

{{PLEASE DONATE HERE}} (http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/donate/)

BBC Children in Need gives grants to organizations in the UK working with children who have mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioral or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.

Benny Happy Returns!
Categories: Bernice Summerfield: Single Releases, Doctor Who - Special Releases, Bernice Summerfield: Box Sets, General Big Finish News

As Bernice Summerfield hurtles towards her twentieth anniversary in October, Big Finish Productions is pleased to reveal the cover artwork for its forthcoming charity adventure, Many Happy Returns.

The special one-off adventure Many Happy Returns will be available exclusively for download, with every penny going to the charity Invest in M.E. (www.investinme.org (http://www.investinme.org)) The charity's latest project - Let's Do It For M.E.! - is a patient-driven campaign raising vital funds for a Centre of Excellence at the University of East Anglia. The centre aims to translate scientific findings and evidence from research into applicable treatments for people suffering from ME, focusing on immunology and virology.

A specially-recorded teaser for the release is also now available via Many Happy Returns - Bernice Summerfield: Single Releases - Big Finish (http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/many-happy-returns-775), where you can pre-order the adventure and view the cover.

They missed the 15 October anniversary date. They are still taking pre-orders. No reason for the delay and a new delivery date has not been announcd.
<hr>
An audio adaptation of the Bernice Summerfield' first appearance in the Doctor Who novel Love and War did get released in time for it's 20th Anniversary. The three-disc set includes a special prelude plus an extensive behind the scenes documentary.

I know that I, for one, have been looking for just about all of the "Original Series" books listed on that wiki page.

I have also been trying to find the series of fiction novels that started between the 8th Dr movie and the "New Series" published by the BBC, I think. The series that features all the classic Drs. I have the Target series of novelizations.

Agreed. Chase was great, but the character just ... meh.

Not been the most exciting trilogy, has it? It didn't even really feel that connected. More like they had three separate story ideas and then just gaffa-taped them together with the help of a lump hammer.

There was Doctor Who: The Visual Dictionary (2007,2011) and The Sixth Doctor Who Dictionary (1989) which was planned as series (NZDWFC: The Doctor Who Dictionary (http://nzdwfc.tetrap.com/archive/dictionary/)). ~kian has a Deviant Art fan dictionary for Doctor Who in progress...

Did you mean the DOCtionary?

If anyone could help.......I thought we did this? No wait, maybe that was Daleks? You started with "Cybermen" (1988) by David Banks, right? He created the Cybermen. This isn't easy. Hi all,

Been lurking for few months, so though it was about time I showed my Cyber-face and said thanks to everyone for this terrific little thread, especially those who supply us with the fixes we need for our habit!!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's been underwhelmed by Large Ending's latest trilogy. the first was the best one, the last two marred by a terribly hammy sub-par Darth Vader clone for a villain, and the last one was far too silly, with all the Only Fools & Steptoe references. And yes, Chase's character was a cliche - can't say I'm too interested in a spin-off there (although it can't be worse than G**R**A**C**E**L**E**S**S)...

One a related note, did others enjoy the latest You-Knit box as much as me? The specials are the first things I've bought from the company, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun this story was (and I loved the effect used for the Giant Floating Craniums). Hope there'll be more like this.

One quick request before I leave you all alone: is anyone able to re-up the last Missing Tales release - The Flower Sailors? The copy I got off here a while back seems to have whole tracks cut short, so I miss great chunks of story. if anyone can help out, I'd be very grateful!

Keep up the great work all - and may a Krynoid never Kryn you!! ;)

G-Less is a good idea poorly realised. If BF were trying to be "Adult Content" then the script was more like a teenager trying to act up and just making themselves look stupid. If they'd just written it in the same way they approached S&S they could have pulled it off. Terrible sound-design, too.

I was bored witless with Un-Dom until ... No Spoilers ... but suffice to say I'm going to have to go back to the beginning and re-listen.

I'm really glad someone else feels the same way! I've seen some fairly positive reviews to the initial boxset, which I couldn't for the life of me understand because it seemed utterly tedious to me. Some nice ideas in there, but some distinctly bland characterisations and plots.

Also, I know it's been out a few months, but can I just rave for a moment about se7en's trilogy this year (and the whole arc, in fact, right back to Scu*t*ari). Just caught up on them, and really, how epic was that? Some great twists, some great characters, and a very, very fitting climax to several storylines. Okay, some of the plot points they dragged up to try and feel like everything was connected and planned were a bit contrived, but overall I was impressed by how all the characters got decent material, and how much the trilogy felt like absolutely the right place for the story to have reached. Don't know where they'll go from there, but what a ride it's been.

Yeah, the 7 stuff with Ace and Hex was superb (just a shame that Mr Olivier is such a bloody awful actor, though) - thankfully Sophie Aldred picked up a lot working with David Tennant on that cartoon and her voice acting has really risen in recent years. With Olivier's lump-hammer approach and McCoy's occasional bouts of bouncing between OTT and just phoning it in, she's really carried them to something pretty good indeed.

Hi all! long time since I've been here (must be at least 4 months!), glad to see you're all still here! I'm in the process of making my way through everything I've missed since July, but in the mean time I have a question:

I'd like to finally pay for something from BF and so thought about buying the D a r k E y e s B o x s e t. I'd like to get the download but I'm rather scared of the file size. Do any of you have any experience with downloading from BF? What is the general opinion about quality, file size and download time?

thank you!

oh btw just scrolled through the FAQ at their website and amongst the regular things, there are these questions:
Will Tom Baker be playing the Fourth Doctor in any of your plays?
Will any stars of the current TV series be doing Big Finish plays?
Will you be featuring the Time War in any of your forthcoming plays?

Makes you wonder how often they were asked this...

The Un-Dom story was a bit lopsided. Until seven shows up it's just a lot of eh. Great twist. Light ears was great but I kept listening for the change of costume and it never comes. The most recent podcast explains that they said his old clothes were shredded but they weren't sure the big boys would approve the change or that Paul would bring in the outfit so they left the purely visual change to be assumed. They have also said that eight will be getting three more box sets. Which is great but it feels like he's really getting shafted by not being in the monthlies.

@Quanna Welcome back! The boxset you're after is just over 500MB. I have pretty good broadband so it only took me a few minutes to dl. The files are encoded at 256kbps and more than enough quality for most listeners. You shouldn't have any problems with it. Enjoy.

Main issue with dl's direct from BF is that there's no 'resume' facility if they're interrupted.

I still think their site is a mess even with this years re-design. Don't go on there much, but the way that 'Ranges' page changes the order of them each time you look is terrible design.

As for Costumes. BF talking some tosh when you think about it; they have to get all the stories AND ARTWORK approved by Cardiff before publishing so they could have quite easily have recorded a 'Re-clothe-eration' scene ready for the Master CD before going to print. And if Cardiff didn't approve, then just drop the scene and revert to the usual stock pictures. To 'undersell' an iconic change is such a shame.

U-Dom - When the heck is this meant to be set in 7's time-line? Given that Raine is with him, that puts it in the Lost Era. But I've always taken his encounter with Kleine to be at the back end of his run when he was travelling alone.

So thoroughly confused, and still not sure if I should have this as part of my UNIT collection or my 7th collection.

@nobber as far as un-dom goes i believe the idea is that 7 has started travelling with raine again after the klein trilogy and string of solo adventures, the gaps in 7's travels with raine are alluded to and she gives the impression of only having started travelling with him again fairly recently but everything is kept fairly ambiguous deliberately, leaving plenty of room for stories in between and retrospective reinterpretations of events, as one surely must if writing stories in the time-jumping face-changing dimension-shifting realm that is medic what ..
i don't know whether one should file it under UNIT or the doc as it's a sort of crossover/unit relaunch affair, comes down to your own idiosyncratic filing preferences but basically it has plenty of the doc in it so it's a medic story in my book

as relates to the costume the desperate fan in me clings to the faint hope that as part of the anniversary celebrations we finally see a new series multi-doctor affair with an unwigged and unamericanised P McG.. the chances are thoroughly slim i know, but he's the only classic medic that is logistically unchallenging to bring back in the visual medium and that opportunity will have at least occurred to the writers and producers.. you never know
personally i can't imagine an audio version of a clothes-selection scene being particularly riveting listening, nor would i have been dismayed to hear it done, basically: good, he's out of the bad wig and cod-gothic finery, let's get cracking..

... i can't imagine an audio version of a clothes-selection scene being particularly riveting listening, nor would i have been dismayed to hear it done, basically: good, he's out of the bad wig and cod-gothic finery, let's get cracking....

But what's so frustrating (for want of a better word) is that it could have been so easy ...

In DE:The Great War Molly comments that his hair is too long - she could have cut it whilst he was a sleep and one simple line from him "You cut my hair! ... Actually ... I quite like it ..." and that's that bit.

In DE:Fugitives they're soaking from being in the water, easy enough to have to get new clothes whilst on the run and another simple, almost throw away, line like "Doctor, that really suits you. Far better than that tatty coat" and that's that done, too.

Two reasonably realistic lines and the icon changes.

But that's, really, just the topping on the icebery of letdowness that DE was for me. Convoluted mess that never really lived up to the legacy of Lucie/Death. Which is a shame as Briggs is normally a better writer than that. As it was it could have lost two CDs and been a good story that introduced a new (so-far, so good) companion.

There was so much potential to explore the depths of anger, loss and despair that 8th had at that time that McGann would have relished in. (Far better than the mawkish performance DT put in in similar-ish circumstances). The follow on to Lucie/Death need that, it needed Susan (who'd just lost her son!), it needed The Monk (who had just suffered his first loss). It needed to be Scherzo to Zagreus. It needed Rob Sherman.

What it didn't need was the bloody daleks again and that ridiculously convoluted plot.

As a regular, 2CD, monthly it could have been really special. As a 4CD Special it was a letdown.

On the upside. Brilliant performances throughout, Molly should work great as a companion, the return of the proper theme tune for 8, and a lovely, subtle, sound-scape and score.

...I'd like to finally pay for something from BF and so thought about buying the D a r k E y e s B o x s e t. I'd like to get the download but I'm rather scared of the file size. Do any of you have any experience with downloading from BF? What is the general opinion about quality, file size and download time? ...Never tried. IMHO. I recommend buying the CD. Why?

New CD cost - eBay used value = download cost.
After re-selling the CD, turns out your actual cost is the same as if you bought only the download. But, the CD is a higher bit-rate, It's a better sound quality than the electronic version. Plus you get to see all the cool art work.

I agree that DE did seem like it was somewhat bloated and they did miss the boat on his just being angry but I enjoyed it nonetheless. A future audio must comment on the clothing. As far as where un-dom takes place, one of the bonus features I believe simply stated that they weren't fussed with it. Not having listened to her introduction I can't really comment much on it. Coupled with the fact that I am unclear over whether or not the lost stories are in the 'main' storyline or an alternate universe and I've simply decided to not be fussed with it. Some nerd somewhere will eventually figure it out and I will thank him for taking the time to do so.

On an unrelated note, the recent podcast states that the first sixth medic adventure with his old victorian friends was originally going to be this years bonus story before it was replaced with a fourth medic story I'm sure we're all anxious to hear. What I find curious is that the CD has a number 1 written on the spine. Now presumably the next story will have a two gracing it's artwork but it would seem two CDs is an awful short series. Do you think we'll get more? Should they actually do more?

Nobber
11-23-2012, 10:37 AM
DE - I think I'll enjoy it more when there's more Molly stories to go with it, if you see what I mean.

Un-Dom - Not listened to the Extras yet, so thanks for the Heads Up on that. Just my minor collectors OCD kicking in for now! :)

6+J&L - Yeah, I'd not say No to more after these two specials. Based on the first the characters work well together. However, they'd have to be 2CD stories so that each character has enough time to do something. And part of 6's range rather than J&L's. They can carry on as they were as they've really hit their stride now.

DrakeRavensmith
11-23-2012, 11:29 AM
I think the extras stated that DE was kind of it's own era. They had a Charleey era and they had a Luciee era and this was it's own little thing. I think Molly is done. Unless fans scream for her return.

My OCD will kick in when I have more CDs. For now, I'm fine just putting them on the shelf. I've also been keeping busy reading. I've always wanted to read more and I'm thrilled to be doing so.

I haven't actually listened to J&L yet but if the second special is good I wouldn't mind hearing more. Especially at that price!

Nobber
11-23-2012, 12:01 PM
Oh, when I heard the extras I took it more of "let's see ...." about Molly's potential return.

Not that fussed if she's never back, but would certainly prefer he to Mary.

What would give him a complete change of pace would be to give him a male companion properly for a while. Especially as he worked so well with Fitz. (Not counting C'rzz as he wasn't the Primary companion, if you see what I mean.)

Nice idea, but probably not one that would work from the Character POV as she's already left 6 (in the one with Mel - Thicker Than Water?) and getting on a bit to be doing any more travelling like that. And if she did travel with 8 after 6 we're into that whole mess again with companion knowing about the Doctor's future again.

If it hadn't been for 'Thicker Than Water' that effectively caps her time, yeah, could have been a nice mix for a story or two.

Perhaps what's needed is a few on his own for a while? I don't think he's had any Solo stories, has he?

Agreed.
Not been the most exciting trilogy, has it? It didn't even really feel that connected. More like they had three separate story ideas and then just gaffa-taped them together with the help of a lump hammer.

The 3 story arcs are starting to get very tedious! A few more stand-alone stories would be more than welcome!

We never saw the moment evelyn left. They visited a planet, and the next story featured evelyn already retired there and being dropped in on by six and mel. Later, seven shows up in time for her death. Doesn't rule out more adventures but perhaps limits the ideas.

It's a shame really as I thought it started really strongly. The Burning Prince was a great story, fast, violent and the Doctor being pressured at every minute. I got a really strong Caves of Androzani vibe from The Burning Price. The other two just fell flat though.

I agree with that 100%! Burning had a fast, exciting pace not often seen (er... heard) at BF (Enemy Of The Daleks springs to mind). I thought it was a (short-lived) step in the right direction!

No. I've been made story editor and I've firmly put my foot down on that. I have mentioned ways of linking our stories directly to the Whoniverse, though.

The 3 story arcs are starting to get very tedious! A few more stand-alone stories would be more than welcome!

I actually like the individual medics being grouped together, it gives them a 'season' kind of feeling. Well, each trilogy is more like half a season if you think that 6 serials/24 episodes made for an average season in most of the classic series (bar the last few years). They don't have to be connected though; 5 with Ny-ssa, Te-gan and Turl-ough have been a generally excellent run of largely unconnected stories but with a few threads running through, as you'd find in a TV season. True, 7's latest trilogies were more connected, but it was built very well, and had several unconnected stories thrown in (Lur@kers, Robo@phob@ia, Dooms@day).

I guess I just like the feel of a full season, the idea of a lot of stories that comprise one journey. I remember feeling very disappointed by Kl-ein's trilogy, not because the stories were bad but because I felt like I was missing out on half a season. Architects was an epic season finale (not without its problems, but definitely epic) and the climax of a long journey for Kl-ein, but it felt like they skipped several stories between Kl-ein's Sroty and Suvrvial of the Ftietst. And 7 and Kl-ein had such a good dynamic, I was disappointed that it wasn't two trilogies instead of one.

PS. I may have gone overboard with the text disguises.

---------- Post added at 12:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:20 PM ----------

The Premise for our project is with 3 main characters who are stationed in the US (we're Americans so it seemed a natural choice), thank goodness UNIT is international! When the idea was originally brought up, my friends were talking about a short film, but we don't have many open spaces (ie: rock quarries and fields) at our disposal. So I figured a main indoor location that we could lightly redress as needed was best so I figured UNIT would have a Vault in as many countries as possible. So our main characters are those who are stationed in the NY Vault... Plus an avian-huminoid, *sigh* so glad we're stuck doing audio only...

"Vaults" make me think more of Torchwood rather than UNIT. For UNIT you need more down-to-earth, realistic, base from them to operate. There's something more appealing, to me anyway, about Classic UNIT who rely on intelligence and five-rounds-rapid over Nu-UNIT who seem to be more concerned with shiny computer interfaces and underground bases in the most stupid of places.

Well the Vault concept came from BF's CC TftV. And the idea really seems to work with our stories thus far. Since were actually doing audios we'll have our characters going out and about.

We're in a heated debate about it's release. One member of the team has issues with their personal work being out there for anyone to have access to. another has much more personal issues regarding being able to take credit for the project. To be fair to both individuals this project originally was just going to be for ourselves and only shared with imediate family. Now there's talk of posting it on YouTube.

How about this for an idea? Initially keep it to immediate family, and later, if they are comfortable with the idea, do a limited upload - not to youtube, but just to a site like this - it would be available to far fewer people, and those with access would know about how it was made. I'm guessing that they are a little nervous about how it would be received, and starting with a small release should set their minds at rest. As for making sure they get credit - do the credits at the start so they won't
be edited out (although no real fan would do that anyway)
Keep it small for a start. Personally, i wouldn't go with youtube at all - that takes all control out of your, and their, hands.

Since life's gotten the better of my time the past several months, I haven't had time to come here and visit my favorite thread. Nor get access to my fav Doctors (big thanks to you lovely uploaders for spending your time and effort to help! you all rock!!).

I finally have a bit of time on my hands and just spent the past 2 hours going back on this thread page by page by page (good lord, I go away for a few months and miss so much!!!), checking links to the Doctor stories I've missed out on. Too many dead links :(

So, I'll sum it up here. (Not saying any of you have to or need to reup and share these if you don't want, but if any of you have the files and spare time to do so, it'd be immesely appreciated. Please and thank you in advance!!!)

I'm on the hunt for my 2 main men's stories, 6 and 5. (Though OMG THANK YOU TO WHO POSTED DARK EYES! I have a major weak spot for 8 / Paul McGann. Darn you Paul McGann and that voice of yours.)

I have to point out that Earthshock also took place somewhere around 65 million BC.

THANKS! Yeah, and those events are important to Earthshock (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_6b.htm). But, jrtxs2001 wants a Cybermen timeline and I see no Cybermen 65 million years ago. That's also why I picked 1983 for The Five Doctors (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_6k.htm), the Cybermen only appear in contemporary events (not in the past, nor future).

On the other hand, the Doctor Who Guide (http://www.drwhoguide.com) synopsis of Earthshock (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_6b.htm) Has a footnote, which confuses me;

The archives, which the Cybermen display in Part Two, show their encounters with the First Doctor (The Tenth Planet (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_2d.htm)), the Second Doctor (The Wheel in Space (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_2s.htm), as The Tomb of the Cybermen (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_2m.htm) was not known to survive at the time) and the Fourth Doctor (Revenge of the Cybermen (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_4d.htm), which takes place in the Cybermen’s future).

Our timeline draft (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-audio-drama-thread-85235-post2216376/#post2216376) shows all of those events taking place before Earthshock (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_6b.htm). I must be mis-reading the English. How could the Cybermen have an archive that includes their future?

Maybe we need a different reference? Or we could compare references (that'll slow us down). nb: off planet stories sometimes don't have Earth dates.

The explanation given in the excellent "AHistory" written by Lance Parkin, is that the Cybermen in "Earthshock" have (limited) access to Time Travel technology.

Thanks for all the advise guys we really appreciate it. I think it's possible that our finished product, when it's finally done may get a posting here, but you'd all have to promise not to share it with others.

The credit issue is for two different reasons, 1) the digital age sucks a bit in terms of privacy and 2) there are stalker-ish people that one us really needs to avoid and they don't want to tempt fate.

Anyway we're hard at work writing, testing out characters discovering that some of us really hate their own voices, and having way too much fun getting the sound engineer to make us sound like daleks!

I've personally become more than a little self conscious doing voice work especially when I'm trying to sound like someone/thing particular. For some reason my partners in crime fighting wanted me to try a Scottish accent, I think my new found love of all things UK has helped that improve a bit, at least in some ways. I try to emulate Jamie McCrimmon, David Tennant's normal speaking voice, I need to watch "Taggart" again as well as "The Decoy Bride", which ironiclly has Tennant playing an English character. Sadly as hard as I try I can't sound like Alan Young. I love his voice, though I think it's mostly due to a childhood love of "Ducktales" and "Mickey's Christmas Carol".

Anyway we are working hard and I will keep all interested parties apprised of our progress.

Jrtxs 'that' being what, if I may ask? O.o?

'Here' on the thread I'd think any size at all, no matter how big. However, in terms of downloading 'here' bite sized pieces are best. Like max size being at 100 mbs (that'll usually provide good speed for most any dl host site unless you use a super slow site like netload or something). Especially since some hosts will let you upload any size, but will only let people (especially without accounts or free accounts) download a certain amount, or will not let anyone download it because it's too big (like a CERTAIN website not letting you dl because a file is over 500 mbs big).

Yeah. most Forums prefer 'off-site' hosting of pictures due to the sizes of them.

Photobucket is very simple to use, and rather than post pictures individually you can give a link to an album,

But given the, er, nature of this thread you may want to re-consider posting stuff that could be traced back to you.

dx121
11-30-2012, 12:29 AM
Jlm, try any of the links. You don't need to get an account or anything (though I'd be wary of those places if you're an artist).
You could always use Deviantart.com to upload your original art to, get the direct link, and post it here. There are also others sites like Photobucket like Nobber stated, Flickr, and waaayyy too many more to post here (for more just go to a search engine and hunt down 'picture host website').

And now, 2 little tidbits I want to share, just 'cause I want to.

First up, I never knew this about the 9th Doctor. Did any of you?

And second, really, what DID make the Doctor (or at least the set designers) want to make the console room so many shades of awesome for the 8th Doctor? (Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but, seriously, WOW!)

a). kbs is a speed (kilobits per second). kb is a size (kilobits).
corollary: 8kb=8KB. Eight kilobits = 1 kilobyte. ~~ Nobody does this correctly anymore. kb and KB are used interchangeably.

b). you're trying to use Insert Image > from Computer. That pucker is useless. Use Insert Image > from URL and uncheck 'Retrieve remote file and reference locally'

c). do not post wallpaper size (full screen) images here. It creates pageload issues. Post a thumbnail and a link, please.

dx121

Ooohhh. Thanks for explaining it out Jrtxs, much appreciated.

As for that, it is totally possible to do, *IF* someone were to take the time to do it.
For me, (old fashioned chick that I am) it'd be a simple matter of opening windows paint (or photoshop), copy, paste, save as, then open up the batch under VirtualDub avi maker, set the timing of the frames just right, check to make sure the speed is right, save as avi. Check the final product, and ta-da!
But taking into consideration the amount of readable text and the moving gifs, it'd be a bit of a pain in the neck to do, and could easily gobble up a couple of hours.

In this day and age, most anything is possible if you're able to find the time, motivation, and person willing to do it.

... then again, if all else fails, you could always just right click and save the pictures, copy and paste the text and save them as pictures as well, then line them up on your pc and go through them one by one.
Still, might not be as nice as a avi file but it'd work. (Wait... can that even be done for a dvd? Pictures only?)

(lol I oughta be careful. My geeky tech side is starting to show!)

I don't know what you're starting with. Tumbler "Time War"? There's text involved, reading time makes avi impractical. I suggest making a slideshow. I'm downloading stuff from 2shared just fine. Are you guys sure it isn't your internet browser mucking things up...?

Tried via Firefox and Safari. Just click the regular download button (not the one that tries to install that software) and ... nothing. Very frustrating.

EDIT TO ADD - And just tried using IE on a Virtual Machine and ... got a bloody virus! The PCeU 'Ransomware" one. Thankfully it's a sandboxed VM.

Aha. That's a shame. I'm using Google Chrome, and it downloaded without a hitch.

Well once I've shored up the AntiVirus/Malware on a clean VM I'll try via Chrome.

But, above all, Thank You Bulletzen, for the share anyway.

Oh dear! Sorry for your troubles. 2shared worked for me in the past, no problems, that's why I used it again to upload those files. I downloaded the files I recently uploaded from them without any issues. Again sorry if you are having issues with them.

Well that's the odd thing. I used to use 2S to upload too, but over the last few months (even trying to dl my own stuff - just checked) it's just done the 'round in circles' bit. I use 4shared now instead.

EDIT - Nah, not even via Chrome (on a VM) just loads of Pop-Ups and McAfee going nuts. Hay Ho!

The weird thing is, I've downloaded from 2shared in the past just fine and yet other times it just goes round in circles like other people say. I haven't altered any browser settings so the reason it sometimes works and most often doesn't is a mystery.

You know what's really annoying? When you're working with identical twins on an audiodrama and they want to do both main characters and the imediate supporting characters without trying to find other people to lend their voices for our work and you have too keep telling them their voices sound too much alike. *sigh*

Odd, isn't it? Wonder if it's a regional and/or ISP thing?

RE: 2shared
Wait for the page to make all of it's subroutine call connections before clicking any buttons. Yeah, hard to tell because you can't see it trying to find the correct instructions. If you click Download before completes the alignment - you get nothing and will have to refresh the page & wait again. Only takes a couple of seconds (it's why some sites have a Wait 5 Seconds timer).

Another thing about the 2shared download issue. When you click download it takes you precisely nowhere and the address at the top is exactly the same except for the extra ?cau2=403tNull on the end of html. Any ideas?

I know it isn't Strictly Who related but any chance someone has the latest Drama Showcase featuring The Savage Mother?
