I know it only came out today, but I would be very grateful if someone can up-load the third season box-set of the trans-temporial adventuress who drives an old red bus.

Also, i know someone said that they would up-load the second box-set of B-L-A-K-E and his friends, that would make my weekend if it were uploaded. Thanks in advance.

God I love this forum.

As I said a few posts back to another poster - grab yourself a Usenet client and a copy of QuickPar as all the main range stories have been posted in the last few days. Free sites like ...
www.Just4Today.NET ... will still have them and paid servers will have them for a lot longer. Judging by the sizes I'd say both of those are posted at 256, too.

Just so you know not everybody can use usenet that easily specially if your a mac user its really hard to find a client app that you don't have to pay for.

Unison is my choice for Mac.

Or fire up a Virtual Machine and use FreeAgent (which may even work with WINE. Never tried it myself)

I'd say that Usenet is no more difficult to get the hang of than P2P-ing, and at least the d/l's are a heck of a lot quicker than p2p and mediafire et al, safer via SSL, and you're far less likely to get a 'file removed for violation'

Bottom line - for anyone needing to fill in gaps in their main range collection it's definitely the go-to place.

The Second Season of CCs has just gone on sale. 5 pounds each or 15 for all 3. Forgot to mention last week that season one isn't available as downloads because some dick won't sign the authorization forum. Sound guy, not cast member. But season two is available.

The pond life prequels sure take a vague, dark turn there. What I want to know is why the Doctor didn't just open the door and have some tea while he was waiting for them to return? It's almost like he was expecting trouble when he erased that message.

I've been browsing back through the previous pages and posts trying to find a couple of specific items and either they aren't posted or I'm just blind. As a relative newbie I must ask... I DO understand the need to use slightly cryptic references to avoid being caught when a search engine is used to find file sharers. But, why must the names be such puzzling cryptic terms that they are nearly impossible to solve? Why isn't the use of strange characters enough?

i.e. w@h#y n%o^t K&ee*p it sim(p(l(e ? Isn't that sufficient?

I don't pretend to instantly understand every little puzzle put up but then I don't have to because I'm caught up and only looking for newer stuff. That said if (and I mean no offense here) someone asks for a Missing story tres o quatro, that's not exactly a difficult translation. I mean there's a number identifier in there for Pete's sake. There are only so many stories it could be. Missing is just the icing on the cake. I agree that if numbers aren't used they can be a bit daft but nothing is free. Tee-Hee.

For those interested, a trailer for the new eighth medic's forthcoming boxset has been released and can be listened to here:

bigfinish.com/releases/v/new-eighth-doctor-box-set-1-doctor-who---dark-eyes-792

If you preorder this boxset now, you save 50%. If you hit the subscribe button you save 50% on this, another boxset featuring our old military friends, 2 single disc stories featuring the sixth medic and his old friends who investigate strange phenomenon of the infernal nature, and an audiobook which originally premiered the medic's longest running spinoff character.

For everyone too cash strapped to participate, I urge you to consider at least buying the downloads for the two six medic stories. They are only one pound apiece. Surely everybody can afford that. These releases are a sort of experiment to see if people like us would purchase these things if they were more affordable priced. Well you don't get more affordable than one pound each! Bundle price good until the end of Oct. Individual savings expire upon release date. You have until the end of Jan to preorder the cheapest releases.

As i've posted a couple of times, please don't directly name the stories - makes it far too easy for bots to index and for this thread to be found - we are trying to stay under the radar.

If you are looking for particular items, start at the last page, and right back to when the item was released - to around the middle of the month it was released and you will find it. there will be several comments about it. Please show some courtesy to the people uploading. the items will NOT be directly named as the item you are looking for to protect the thread. Show a little imagination when looking and a little patience by being willing to go back a lot of pages to find them.

Please!

Oh and to those asking to be directed to the exact post for the item you are looking for - we have to spend just as much time looking for that post as you would. Please read through the thread - and by that i mean more than just a couple of pages - and i have to say some are very obviously not even bothering to do that much.
There are some real treasures available in here, and you are missing out on some gems by not doing so - while a lot of the earlier links are long dead, there are some that are still alive and kicking and not available elsewhere anymore.
A lot of us have gone to a lot of time and effort to get this stuff on here, and didn't have it handed to us on a plate. We had to hunt, we had to buy, we had to scan, collate, edit, to get it to a fit state to put on here. Do us the courtesy of really looking and not giving up after a couple of pages.

Nope haven't seen that one before but its nothing somebody with a little digital know how can't reconstruct. Take a look at my reconstruction below. Feel free to let me know what you think. I fixed the problem of it not reading as a tin can emperor to. I really think thats what they should have done to fix it in the first place.

Check the AGo site--they put up tons of HQ covers (but a bit spotty and random). The BF site also has some decent-sized ones, particularly for the CCs and EDAs (but not the main range except the most recent).

Here's the best that I gathered from a number of sources:

I'm brand new here so hopefully I'm doing this right. I've been browsing back through the previous pages and posts trying to find a couple of specific items and either they aren't posted or I'm just blind. If possible, could anyone direct me to any working links for the fourth time around medical man's gene hackman in an upside down boat adventure? I'm also looking for anything from the second seasons of the world's greatest detective-not downey or the groundling from up high in scotland...really hoping someone can figure out what all of that means

As it turns out I was finally able to locate the fourth medical man adventure I'd been seeking in one of the earlier threads. I did see at least one or two others requesting large endings second season Sure Luck Homes but I haven't noticed any links anywhere. Would anyone have these to share or possibly the second season of the man Landing High in Scotland?

I'm trying to collate files and have a question for those in the know: at what volume of the monthly lineup did the interviews/extras (other than trailers) start popping up?

As far as i can see from my collection, they started with the 92nd story in the main series (when the voice of the Monsters took over)*

*The idea having been taken from the 8th Medics series on the radio.

Yeah, that sounds about right. It was also as a result of NB bringing the stories back to proper 4x25min episodes (something that G-Russell had a tendency to ignore) and needing to pad out the CDs with more than just trailers.

It took a long time to get everyone to do babble speak, change file names, and use link anonymizers. Now you want them to learn how to post images without trackbacks? OK. Do NOT 'hotlink' images. Upload the picture to an image host. Make sure you 'remove source identifier' and 'scramble file name'. You still need to post the image inside the Spoiler and/or Code Tags - as Google Images can now Search by Picture. Thought that was going to be easy, huh?

As posted many times before please take the time to read the thread carefully. Im not referring to you Adrian but to all those who share here specially all the incoming newbies from the impish site. I posted how i share with images using no names and anonymous link referers earlier in the thread in the hopes it would catch on because i too agree some times it does get a little to cryptic. I cant tell you all how many times ive spent hours downloading something i already have.

As a side note if you have something new you want to contribute to the thread and you want it posted anonymously with an image but cant figure out how or are scared to post it for security reasons feel free to PM(private message) me a description with links and ill reupload it somewhere else and post it.

It was at that point when they also decided on the 3/1 episode ratio for some of the releases (For releases 94, 95, 97 & 102 with the plan of continuing) . However this was dropped after 102 as the special 4x1 episode releases were used instead. However the 3/1 episode arrangement but used again for 131.

They have generally stuck to the 4x25 limit, but it's slipping now to about 28 mins per episode i have noticed

Part of the idea of the 3/1 format was for the 'virus' story idea that NB never quite pulled off properly. In particular "u.r.ge.nt c*lls" and "ur.b.a.n m.y.t.h.s" were meant to be part of a longer time-virus-thing that was meant to all come together with what was originally planed for 'pa.ti.ent 0" - AFAIR is was behind the scenes stuff, such as B-Langford being forced to cancel, that meant the sudden arrival of Ms Fisher into the mix and the additional problems that caused. (Hence why her travels with CB, whilst well played, are a bit of a story mess if you stand back a bit.)

I quite liked the 3/1 format - the releases over the last few months have suffered from not enough story to fill four episodes, so a 3/1 would have been perfect.

I see that there are "remixed" versions of Mane Raynge tales Double-oh-threec, "Hushed Speakings of Scariness," and double-oh-nyn, "Ghost of Moar Lanyard" or something, that are of much better quality than my raggedy old files. I agree with DrakeRavensmith. I don't mind the puzzles, but at least give some kind of reference like the range it's from, the series number if applicable, and the actual number of the episode you're looking for. It makes it easier to fulfill your requests, and to find what we are selves are looking. Happy hunting everyone and enjoy 7.02 Terrible Lizards on a Galactic Transport.

I know this is firstly an audio drama thread, but reading through it I see enough occurrences of links/uploads for other things that it gives me hope someone will be able and perhaps willing to help me.

Just use mediafire. It does require an account but you can use fake info and the email doesn't have to be verified. Plus upload is easy. Once logged in just drag and drop your file on your browser window and it will upload automatically. Plus they give you an enormous amount of space for files like 50 gb. Only drawback is you cant upload a file larger the 200mb so you might want to learn how to split large files into segments.

depends on the size of the file and how long you want them to stay online.

2shared is a good non-registration one and file sizes are limited to 100mb

mediafire is a good one you need to register on - you can create a new gmail or yahoo address for easy registration and files are limited to 200mb. - uploads don't cost anything and links stay active longer

Hi guys.
Just thought i'd let you know. Couldn't find main release 1%6%3 on here when I went through the thread. A mixture of being partially sighted and it all blurring into one methinks. A quick google search though (typing in exactly what I was after plus the name of a certain popular hosting site) brought me straight here. Not to the original post, but to someone responding to it. Just using the title of the show followed by the release number was enough. You have to be a little cryptic about everything (see what I did above for the release number - and i'm not certain that enough tbh).

Cheers.

You see why I praise UseNet and highly recommend it. :)

And that other server I mentioned a few posts back doesn't track your IP or use web-cookies, so you can use disposable addresses to re-do another account if you like.

It is a pain when j4d is down, though, as there's no way (well, none that I've found) of finding a status page for it. IIRC it's a "hobby" server of a Dutch uni and very much a 'you get what you pay for ...' service.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UseNet

Essentially it's a off-shoot of the original 'net email system. And once you're used it it it's no more complicated to use than P2P. Arguably quicker, too.

For example - an hour CD at 256k on even a free server takes about 30 mins to grab. An entire DVD VIDEO_TS image? About a day.

On a paid server? Even quicker!

The main DW group on a good server such as ...

www.giganews.com

... will have a good 99% of all the released DVDs as VIDEO_TS's, as well as XVID rips of the episodes and extras. Plus nearly all (as of Aug) the stuff on audio. (And, of course, all the new episodes as they air)

With a good, paid, server I'd say it's superior to torrent/fileshare-site for this sort of thing.

Downside - to post to the group you really do need a paid server. I've yet to find a free server (or even a 'try before buy' deal) that lets you post.

Usenet... With a good, paid, server I'd say it's superior to torrent/fileshare-site for this sort of thing.
It absolutely is! I've been on Giganews since the day "Aliens of London" aired. It was too much of a pain getting a brand new show when there's only 1 seed. It took me 6 hours to get "The Unquiet Dead", which was unacceptable. Now, if the show ends at 3pm my time, I've got it downloaded and am watching it by 3:10. And with 1200 days retention now, I can download a 3 year old file just as quick and easily as one posted yesterday. Highly, highly recommended. Worth every cent of the 20 bucks a month I pay (and as of last month, that includes a VPN proxy connection!).

I use unrarx and it does give me the same error but if i set the preferences so it keeps the extracted files even if they have an extraction error and then inspect episode 1 it appears to be perfectly fine. Its an m4b 128(vbr) 44000 @ 1:03:34 and its complete plays perfectly. It just gives an error for some weird reason when extracted.

I usually use winzip to unzip and it gives me the same error. I tried 7z (portrable) and it extracted with warning on file one but I popped it into itunes and checked the file every 2 minutes and it seemed to be fine. Not ready to listen to it so maybe someone who is could try it out.

Its been edited thanks for pointing that out. By the way i listened to the begining and the end of ep 1 to make sure it hadnt been cutoff and it sounded allright. I also looked at it in fission audio editor and the waveform has no discrepancies.

Try and use VLC player. It can play more formats than windows media player, and it's user friendly. And if I remember correctly it's freeware.

Being an older Mac user myself I'll give you a few tips:

1: get a usenet account from the free sites mentioned here
2: go to M S J • MacSerialJunkie, for your addiction • Homepage (http://www.macserialjunkie.com), get and account and login
3: search unison and download the free 2.1.7 cracked version
4: use the info from step 1 to add a server in preferences so it logs you in
5: click the plus button in the lower left of the main window and add alt.binaries.drwho to your newsgroups
6: now you can use the search button to search for what you want just check the box next to the file you want and click create NZB then it will download.

Hope you enjoy what you find. all the main titles and spinoffs are on the server. Also I'm uploading the first series of the unfound medic adventures right now.

Ever since I've gotten into these, that has always puzzled me. Don't get me wrong, though. The more of these stories the merrier, but I've been meaning to Tweet them asking why is September special enough to warrant having 2 main range releases put out in that month. In fact, according to the TARDIS Wikia, they've done 2 main range releases in every September since 2005. The only other case I saw where there were 2 main range releases in the same month were in November of 2003 when #050 and #051 were released.

What I don't get is why people ask for the most recent stories. Isn't it a given that they'll be posted the instant they're available? Not to be too big an ass about it but what the thought here. That some board member has the story and is sitting on it because no specifically requested it? That's a bit daft...

It would make more of a contribution if they posted actual lists of releases and projected dates. RE: release dates - happy times if it shows up in the projected month. I've seen 'em months early and/or years late. RE: sitting on it - yeah, but, ah that's long story about agreements to get advance copies, and an Onion Kid wanting it now doesn't change anything.

okay, so long as i'm not terminally befuddled i assume its 'assignment: resurrection-dude' you're after, and here it is, but in a very basic no frills 128kbps format, so if you're hi-fi inclined you may need someone else to step in .. that which is shared is shared freely, though if you happen to have the second medic missing story 'jail in the vacuum' i would not sneeze at it.. tap my virtual shoulder if and when you've grabbed it as i may need to take it down again, so get in quick y'all (link removed by OP) .. ps i'm a bit new to this so tell me gently which parts of it i cock up

I wish more people would use 7zip. I hate these old fashion rar files. Too many dammed crc errors.....

If anyone has any of the following I'd be very grateful, we have recently had jail in the vacuum but I wonder if anyone has the rest of the set please?

medic 1 box set, medic 2 box set, the 4 medics and a 5th medic release title along the lines of The Laymons of Bed Splodge all from late 2010

I don't think I have much to offer in return, but then I am a bit new to collecting these releases.

I've somehow misplaced 2 stories of chronicles by the friends of the doctor:
S05E11 - Folly's of FxExRxRxIxL
S05E12 - Frozen Math

Thanks

PS I don't know if I'm being too cryptic - but these are C0MPANI0N CHR0NICLES (I used zeroes instead of O)
