Watching Sam Jackson is fine, I only get a slight nervous twitch and urge to pull my own eyes out of their sockets when he is called "Fury" on screen.

I really should watch Northern Exposure again.

There was a point in this movie where Hydra had missiles targeting the World Trade Centre.

It's odd how often that used to happen.

Spider-Man even knocked over one of the Towers in the comics.

I haven't noticed a lack of action movies set in NY since 9/11, if anything, there are more than ever.

I mean, just the Transformers movies and the Avengers destroy NY more in an hour than it has been destroyed in the history of cinema.

Thank you to those who have posted the new releases, time to get them now.

Also as I posted on the other place seems Mr Levine is not as much of a prick as I thought he was. Nice efforts and thanks for being honest with us.

No, He definitely IS a prick, but also his heart's in the right place, and he really does love the show - possibly a bit too much...

That movie is so awesome. A David Goyer script, from back when he still REALLY cared. But it's Easily HOff's best roll. I can't stand Hoff. He's not even a real actor! That's how horrible i think he is. But He nails NICK FURY in every scene. He's one step away from perfect in it. Hope you enjoyed it.

I'm currently watching Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (1998).

It could have been worse. Imagine having to translate it for television which basically means going over it once, very carefully, translating every word, then watching the slop again when you're done while reading your translation out loud to make sure the actors doing the voiceover will be able to fit it in the time frame provided.

I went through this a few years ago - still struggling to recover.

I assumed not enough people had actually seen this rot for it to be considered much of a war crime.

But it sounds like you deserve a purple heart.

And Nobber, I believe it's pronounced "Faux-kumentary".

I'm now watching Smith.

A show so good, that the comic relief in the background is Pat Jane from the Mentalist and Sherlock Holmes from Elementary.

Dark in Here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/5b7sda)

I'm afraid I'm missing the same FASA guides as you. I've only got The Dalek Problem and some manuals. I'd never heard of The Forge. Is it Doctor Who related?

You have made my christmas!!

Thanks, this is my audio holy grail!! I've searched everywhere and even e-mailed master Baggs to see if he had a copy - I'll get that downloaded tonight (& boy do I wish I'd logged on before I came into work this morning).

The Forge comic was a spin off from the large conclusions 7th medic stories with nimmroddd written by the 2 creators of the character. As far as i can tell it was an online only comic. Their website indicates it will come back, but alas no update for years and being an obsessive compulsive I've gotta read it. I e-mailed them once for info but alas got no reply.

really I want a specials box. the 50th counts as a special, i want it in a box. not by itself, IN A BOX (i like boxes).
I want a box with
-A Christmas Carol
-The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe
-The Snowmen
-The Day of the Doctor
-The Time of the Doctor

i.e. all the Eleventh specials.

i also want a box with
-Meanwhile in the TARDIS
-Space and Time
-Night and the Doctor
-Pond Life
-P.S.
-The Great Detective/Vastra Investigates
-Strax Field Reports
-Clarence and the Whispermen
-Rain Gods
-Night of the Doctor
-The Last Day

that is, all the Eleventh extra minisodes.

I would go out of my way to buy these, rather than waiting for them to get a little cheaper.

As did I. I feel in some weird way, I feel it helped me to push myself to keep moving forward from losing my friend last September. I even sent writer Matt Fitton a message on Facebook telling him exactly that, because I didn't think my feedback on it warranted a mere shout-out on Twitter. I also confessed to him how I was initially reticent about listening to it, as the loss of my friend still felt fresh for me despite it happening over 3 months ago, but ultimately decided to anyway. He not only offered condolences, but he also appreciated my direct and matter-of-fact feedback on it. He also said that Seven's speech near the end of part 4 was very much inspired by the video that circulated YouTube of Sylvester McCoy reciting Eleven's Pandorica speech, and he wanted to show off just how nasty Seven can be when he's alone. As much as people talk shit about social media and how detrimental it can be, I think my messaging Mr. Fitton is a textbook example of sending direct feedback to people who make stuff you love and it being very beneficial.

That to me is the biggest problem with this release - a large proportion of the intended market will already own 3 quarters of it, so what the hell is the point of it? At least the US gets Time on it's own (UK may, too, but I haven't seen it).

They are missing a huge opportunity here to bundle all the 50th stuff together in one package along witn TotD (Day, the cinema intros, Science, Ultimate Guide, AAISAT, etc), please the fans, AND start afresh with a Capldi only set for the next box.

I still hope something like it might materialise at some point, but BBCWW don't seem to have a clue at the moment...

I hope he does. Despite some feeling like you do about Charley, and possibly Hex, some don't. The Charlie spin off should be out in March and I am very excited for it, she could continue making audio forever for me. As for outstaying their welcome, nobody is forcing anyone to listen, thats the beauty of different ranges. Something for everyone.

I was well tired of Charlie after Zagreus, but I think that is mostly down to LC not really knowing how to pace their ranges when it became apparent that the tv series was going to continue doing very well. She sort of came back to basics toward the end (I really liked her time with #6, for example). But I just can't see the character going on her own for any length of time. Look at Iris - that was a strong and well established character that simply couldn't sell on her own. (I guess) and now we are left on a cliffhanger.

Better to go out on a high note, from my point of view.

But hey, I am absolutely willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on Pollard. Hex though... the kissing scene creeped me the hell out. I REALLY hope they don't turn him into a love interest for Ace after all this time.

BF will go on (and on and on).

After being disappointed with the last couple of years of BF, I planned on making December 2013 my jumping off point. It was the end of the Lost Stories, the CC's were winding down, and no major plot threads were left dangling. I'll probably still listen to a few new ones now and then, but I think I'm finally pretty much stopping with them. [/stuffnobodycaresabout]

Yeah. He even told me that the story gained an extra bit of poignancy after losing someone he was close to not long after finishing it. It's both surreal and great to talk to people who are involved in making stuff you love, honestly. On the one hand, it's a really geeky thrill and treat, and on the other it's kinda humbling to know they're just ordinary folks like you and me who are trying to make the most of this crazy world we live in.

I've just seen the following posted on Roobarbs. Make of it what you will

I've just got back from MBW, and my recollection of Dick Fiddy's comments in the documentary, as I understood them, is:

- substantial amount of material found by Morris in Africa - but Dick expressed this in terms of "I understand that..." / "I believe that..."
- He talked of hundreds, maybe thousands, possibly tens of thousands of "titles"; as I understood it, this was not merely his reporting of the rumour, but of what he understands
- He confirmed Phil Morris has letters from the BBC, and the BFI as ITV's official archive, confirming that he is acting on behalf of the BBC and ITV
- He understands much, probably most, of the material is already back in the UK
- Whatever's coming back is going to the BBC in the first instance, who have an agreement to pass ITV material on to ITV
- The material is still being assessed and catalogued, which will take a while
- The whole thing is being kept under close wraps (very much my phrase, not Dick's - but a fair paraphrase, on my understanding of what he said), for good reasons
- The possibility of colour Steptoes and possibly one or other two specific titles was clearly speculation on Dick's part
- He also mentioned he had left the announcement of this year's screening late, in the hope that Phil Morris might give some material for it.

Caveats:

- other contributors on the documentary only recounted the rumour and spoke more guardedly
- other people present seem to have understood Dick Fiddy's comments differently

So there you go. That's my eyewitness report, offered for what it's worth. But I'm not a total chump, and the above was my clear understanding on the day - nothing more and nothing less than that. So please don't jump all over me pointing out I could have misunderstood completely - yes, I could, but I don't think I did. And I was struck by how far Dick was willing to go in confirming certain aspects of the rumours - that seemed very clear to me, and I'd have thought that as an experienced hand in these matters Dick won't have been speaking loosely.

We had a minimal turn out this month a little over 10 people showed up to our double feature. I'm gonna chalk it up to the chaos of the holidays.
On the plus side we learned from tow of the attendees that our Doctor Who Club has been posted in OregonLive every month! And to make this news even better it came from a British woman, who brought her young son who was dressed up like Matt Smith!

Anyone in Oregon that would like info for January's Club Meeting PM me.

Unfortunately Random House does not handle there own audio downloads. So you will have to buy from one of 4 places

Audible.com - Which Have their own DRM encrypted Files & a monthly subscription
Emusic - Which is no good for us Australians (region restricted purchasing)
ITunes - Everyone knows the issues here
Barnes & Noble - Which needs a specific Download program but does appear to be the best option (although no discount prices like AudioGo used to do)

[QUOTE=recons;2549653]I understand why Random House were chosen - brand stability mainly - but I wish it hadn't gone to another conglomerate. Big Finish started humbly and ran far with DW. They could have given a smaller company a real shot in the arm with a nuWho audio licence.[COLOR="Silver"]

So the new guy, in Hex's body actually made out with Ace.

FINALLLY!!!

When Hex finally does come back, he's going to be sore about that.

"Oh my god, oh my god, what's he get that eye ain't?"

...

Mark Strickson was saying that during his kissing scenes in a LC play a while back that he and the girl were kissing their own hands to create the sound effects for "radio".

I have a feeling that behind the scenes I am going to be just as robbed as this new nookie is defanged.

I'm not knocking her; I'm just saying they gave her a decent send off then kept her hanging around for no good reason. I found it frustrating & annoying the way they avoided having 6 find out her big secret & when she exchanged places with that other girl (whose name escapes me), I was just waiting for it to be over. It did the character no favours.

As for Hex, it's looking promising, at the moment. In recent stories, he'd been complaining far too much - I felt that he should either get on board with The Doctor or leave altogether rather than just stick around & whinge about him the whole time. So, I'm looking forward to his next stories. I just hope they don't take it too far.

I gave her full run a re-listen last summer and found that my memory had cheated me a bit. She wasn't as 'cloying' as I'd remembered but, yeah, her two "exits" managed via memory manipulation seemed both lazy and clumsy. But I still really didn't like the Mila story-line. Which is sort of a shame as India and Colin worked together really well.

As for her spin-off?

I dunno. I just feel it's better Story Telling that we DON'T know what happened to her. Oh well, we'll see, I suppose. I quite like the idea she bumps into Iris who turns her into a complete lush.

Still ... the spin off can't be any worse than G-Less or VeeN-Arr! :)

(IMHO, of course ...)

A HUGE thank you to all the recent uploaders and a Hi and happy xmas to everyone!

Chaos still rules my life, with frequent long journeys involved, Medic audios are the only thing keeping me sane!

a bit late for the discussion, but I found out about the audios from the CBB online player.

depressed one night and looking for comedy I stumbled across a ep of eight (animal of Kloro) and, after some digging around was stunned shocked and really rather annoyed that I had been missing out for so long.

it was not long until I found this happy little thread!

Good tidings to all!

What about "Relative Dimensions"? That's my go-to audio for Christmas. I wouldn't recommend "Death in Blackpool" because it ends on such a downer. Also, I've been wanting to try haggis. Is it anything like corned beef hash? I'm asking because I saw a pic of it, and it reminds me of it.

It is sort of like a huge sausage skin, wrapped around meatloaf and some extras. Granted, I have never MADE it, but I have eaten it - closest thing I can really come to. I mean, the sausage skin is a stomache, but other than that, I think it is pretty accurate.

"Relative ..." will be Xmas Eve.

Haggis is nothing like hash. All it is, really, 3:1 Pearl Barley to minced lamb (a combination of shoulder meat, kidneys, liver and heart) with bread-crumbs herbs and spices. All bunged (in our case) in sausage skin made from the pig.

Made into a fat sausage about the size of the average coffee-cup and simmered for two hours.

First time I cleaned out the, erm, "lower inside bits" I almost became one! I nicked part of the, ah-hem, disposal system and the stink was ALWFUL!

Doing chicken is interesting the first few times when you discover incomplete eggs. (Not as much fun as watching the dogs and cats fighting for who gets them, mind you!)

Despite what I said before I do like haggis.
The first time I tried it was from a fish and chip shop in Blairgowrie (deep fried). We were limping back from competing in The Royal Highland Games at Braemar when we inadvisedly accepted a challenge to a tug 'o war match from the local farmers team. Total humiliation is the term that covers that encounter.

I have just finished watching the complete classic series in celebration of the anniversary. (that is with recons. I don't have any missing episodes I'm afraid.)

Several decades ago, gratuitous use of the phrase "The [insert] of Rassilon" spawned a game whereby one tried to find the most absurd or creative noun to use as the insert. One had of course "the sword of Rassilon" or the "shield of Rassilon", but one also saw people at conventions selling "the backscratcher of Rassilon" and "the tea cozy of Rassilon". The game was best played in pubs, after one had consumed too many pints of The Ale of Rassilon.

Fast Forward...

Nowadays, we are experiencing a recurrence of the phrase "The [insert] of the Doctor", with:
a. Name
b. Night
c. Day
d. Time

I fear the old game is about to be reborn. It would be The Curse of the Doctor.

The Evil of the Daleks
The Power of the Daleks
Asylum of the Daleks
Remembrance of the Daleks
The Plunger-Me Party of the Daleks

My Who-Jr suggested "The Coming of the Doctor", for which he got sent to bed, muttering something about smiting me with the lightly-buttered-brioche of Rassilon.

I know what you meant - I wuz just trying to be charmingly off beat...ahem

My first plan wouldn't have worked as I don't actually have any kids and sending other folks kids through the post is frowned on - sigh, nanny state etc.

I am having problems loading the full file to sendspace so it will have to be by disc unless I use the loathed service I used last time, but as someone who had to drive from Norfolk to Scotland on a regular basis I will do all I can to get them up for you and I'll see you in the zero room - I'll be the one wearing the helmet and look of nervous apprehension

I remember the Game of Rassilon being a ton of fun at the Panopticon New Orleans circa 1985 or so. There were signs everywhere at the convention, and you had to write them all down and turn them in to win. Even the panelists were "The JNT of Rassilon", the "Colin Baker of Rassilon", etc. But the best was the hotel cigarette machine (back when they had such things!) with the "The carcinogens of Rassilon" sign!

Happy holidays everyone!

Agreed. I think the plot lost out to the need to tie up loose ends. As for the regeneration itself - much better than Tennants painfully drawn out epic.

Have to agree this time on first viewing - an odd, underwhelming finale (although still enjoyable as a normal episode)...

That said...

- So, so glad that Karen turned up briefly at the very - seems only right, given he's said Amy is 'scored in his hearts' or such like in this incarnation. Did admittedly tear up a bit then...

- Matt's performance was superb, and I will miss him immensely. I'm glad Jenna's staying - she was also superb, can't wait to see how she relates to Peter's Medic.

-Some of the expanations, while making sense, seemed kinda throwaway. Still don't know why Amy's 2-storey house has a third storey - guess I'll just have to accept it was a production cock-up and nothing more...

- On first viewing, the regen seemed ridiculously fast and uneventful, but at least that's a change from the over-blown soap opera that was DT's change. As far as I'm concerned, the massive explosion in the tower was from the new cycle kicking in. Glad it wasn't the actual regen, as "That's From Gallifrey, Boys" would've been AWFUL last words.

- Wish we'd got a bit more of Capaldi, two lines was NOT enough - can't wait for Series 8, a whole new start, I think!

Roll on New Year's and New Sherlock... :D

Does anyone feel like moffatt compressed 3-4 episodes into what should have been a multi part epic... to a semi nararated cliff notes version?
I still feel like last year we missed out on an series of stories..and this year it feels like there should have been 4-5 eps from the 50th to now..

And the 4th medic never got the talking cabbage -- i like how this showed how someone could get a handle on that [that being said the distinction for longest companion goes to .....and Mister Smith showed a little emotion there]

I haven't listened to this year's LC Sub Special yet, so forgive me if it contradicts, but re: your last point...

I understood the Valeyard is NOT an actual incarnation as such, and came into existence "somwhere between" the 12th and Final regens - therefore he would've been 'born' during the change over from DT to MS. And given what an almighty conflagration that caused, I wouldn't be surprised to find his creation was a side effect of DT 'holding it in' for so long!

AFAIC, the Valeyard is done. Doesn't need to be addressed anymore (and probably never did!)... :)

I'm NOT Kent Brockman, and that's... My Two Cents. :D

It doesn't matter how he got his new set of regenerations, he's still The Doctor. So he's the 12th Doctor.

Also:

Wasn't that one of the messiest episodes of the Matt Smith era? I enjoyed none of it - had to watch some of it through my fingers it was so embarassing.

You know what bothers me about it? I agree it was a very poorly written episode. What makes that worse is the scene where he sees Pond right before he regenerates - and Matt Smith REALLY chokes up on his last speech - that was an AMAZINGLY powerful moment that he deserves praise for, yet the mess that was the rest of the episode is going to always have precedence over what was probably the best scene of his run.

While I would love to put my own fanfiction spin on this and say it was That Other Android, I think we all know he was just talking about Mr. Handles who, in all fairness, I think would have been a great Kamelion-ish companion over the course of another season ... something this Doctor desperately needed.

MS was very very good. Poorly served by Moffatt. And that resonates back through 95% of his tenure, I'm afraid.

So do you all think Moffatt will continue on throughout the Capaldi era? or do you think he'll pass on the reign to someone like Mark Gattiss or Gary Russell? or Toby Whithouse ? and how long before Peter Jackson is free from the Hobbitt to make doctor Who episodes?

DemonSeedMonkey
12-27-2013, 07:39 AM
Mark Gattiss or Gary Russell?

Both delightful men. Both utterly wrong for the job. Time to hire from without rather than from within - unless you want a continuation of the theme of everything in the universe being about the Doctor.

Of those three it'd be Gatiss hands down - as Whithouse is busy, Russell has no experience as a TV show runner, and Moffat has worked with him and knows he's trustworthy.

Personally, I'd be fine with that, and think he'd do a good job...

Clara: I may have accidentally invented a boyfriend.
Doctor: Yeah. I did that once and there's no easy way to get rid of an android.

Thank you for that - that had me scratching my head. Now it makes sense!

Both delightful men. Both utterly wrong for the job. Time to hire from without rather than from within - unless you want a continuation of the theme of everything in the universe being about the Doctor.

I think I agree with your thoughts there.

Mike is a traitor.

What would be hilarious is if we see Benton's adventures as a used car salesman (some bugger semicanon claimed that that's what he got up to after UNIT.) in the key of "Minder".

Oh yes please. That would be great.

Having said all that, am interested to see if Moffat has learnt his lesson about incoherent arcs with Peter Capaldi's first season. Will be interesting...

The problem is that Moffat probably honestly doesn't believe that there actually IS a lesson to be learnt. He just looks at it and goes "Ooo! That show is wearing nice clothes!"

(Urg .... I've just made myself ever so slightly ill with the thought that the whole 'naked' bit at the start could be some god-awful meta-emperors-new-clothes joke?)

Gatiss should never ever be show runner. With the exception of this year, his Who stories (much like his Sherlock stories) are never up to scratch.

I loved the Xmas special, but it did not reward the casual viewer. I never thought I would say this, but Who is now as continuity heavy/audience alienating as it was in JNTs day. Great(ish) for fans but the audience are only watching because their kids like Dr Who - twitter was awash with comments such as "Dr Who has been sh#t since Tennant left", "I have genuinely no idea what this episode of about" and "One hour of nonsense until Capaldi shows up #endofwho #terrible"

New producer should be a fan, but not someone who lets that fandom override their ability to write coherent decent stories.

Having said all that, am interested to see if Moffat has learnt his lesson about incoherent arcs with Peter Capaldi's first season. Will be interesting...

I don't necessarily agree - while also agreeing. The only stuff that needed to be watched in order to 'get' everything that happened in this episode was everything that happened during the tenure of #11. You don't even need to look beyond that for the whole Gallifrey stuff, because they have apparently gone with some weird peace-loving version of the TL's who actually love the Doctor.(when we know he is pretty well regarded as a meddler by them).

I wouldn't hold to twitter much. It is largely a fire and forget place to complain at people. And people complaining that it's been bad since Tennant left are the same people that complained that PT was the best, or TB, or PD, or so on and so forth. It always happens.

I was seeing a pretty good number of people in the states complaining that this "new guy" is definetly no Matt Smith - for example. Remember that it is always true that you never forget your first doctor. People just have a better medium to being nostalgic about it now than they did 20 years ago.

Oh yeah. I had the most O.o face when that happened. Said something along the lines of "Love him? LOVE the DOCTOR? Are we talking about the same people here? I thought the TLs more-or-less hated him, they'd rather do without him and hate the fact that they need him, hate him for being both what they despise and what they need!"

Have read all these comments about the special and the fall of the 11th (or is it the the 12th or 13th?), anyway... here are my thoughts on it, and the whole situation...

The episode was dire for me, too much crammed into an episode, too many plot lines to resolve and yet it was still slow and plodding!
there were moments of greatness, such as Matts final moments, and yet he should have regenerated BEFORE that moment, on the clock tower, so in context it was twaddle to me!
Matt WAS a good Doctor, with the potential to be Great, yet it never happened because he was served very badly by the Moff.

The Moff is a fantastic ideas man, yet bloody terrible in my opinion in actually realising his ideas.
I am not one of these pro RTD you see on other forums btw, however I do prefer the structure he gave to his seasons.
Its well documented that the Moff based the last season on the TITLES first, so they could make "lovely" film style posters for them, then the story had to be written from his one line, promotional, poster idea/title, and we all know how that worked out on screen!!!

I watched the Xmas ep with my wife and my mother.
My wife is a 10th (or is that 10th AND 11th now?) fan, my mum has watched the series from the beginning....
They both LOVED the 50th episode, however when the Xmas one ended, they looked at each other and pulled a funny face to each other, looked and me and said "well what did you think?"
the fact I could not find anything to say for a few seconds, gave my mum the window to say "that was bloody terrible...it was dull boring and made no sense!"
My wife agreed with her.
Now you have to remember my mum, although having watched nearly every episode ever made, because of me over the years, is NOT a fan, like we are... she watches them, prefers some to others, she is a normal person who watches TV.
She has no interest in why the TARDIS exploded three years ago, she cant even remember with clarity the whole crack in time stuff from Matts first season, it was YEARS AGO, and this is my point...

WE as Fans know this stuff inside out, we dissect it, we talk about it, we add importance to it, because it matters to us.
To normal viewer, it makes no bloody sense at all! four years to tell a story..... its simply madness!

What the show needs is for Moff to stand down, and a real proper TV exec to take over, one that understands that you CAN have a thread that runs though a season, then is resolved, maybe asking a few new questions in doing so, which can run into the next season. I suppose in a way, I am saying the American way of recent years in doing serial TV...And before people complain, The Moff HAS been chasing and trying to emulate the US style since he began, he just hasn't made a very good job of it!

By a way of comparison, I stuck the DVD of enemy of the world on earlier in the day, the wife and mum were gripped by it, even though its old, has no real SFX to talk of and is very wordy, however they BOTH though it was superior drama and more entertaining than the Xmas special..... that really made me think.... and I hope you all think on that too!

Well...look at it from this view then. If the Doctor died, and could not regenerate, then they would have no vested agent on this side of the crack to help them. Obviously they are not going to just give up trying to return. They need a helper/protector, and giving the Doctor more lives will ultimately serve their means. And may have strings attached yet.

Mr. Smith may be the most popular Doctor here in the states for now, but he is not our first. Sci-Fi ran all of the 9th Doctor episodes before BBCA took over with Tennant. And some of us are old enough to remember sitting up at midnight on Saturdays, with pizza and soda watching, of all things, PBS bringing us the latest Pertwee. Tom Baker was my first Doctor. Mt first ever episode was Robot and I got to see his run straight through to Logopolis. and nothing after that since the channel stopped showing it after that...:( Tom is my man, hands down. Or was. Then this Tennant feller swept me off of my feet, and it was a near as dammit thing. I cried when he left, but Tom, now Tom was still my Doctor by a hair. Then this..**person**, an actor dared to take over. And I must say that all of them, Matt Smith is my favorite ever, He swept memories of the 4th Doctor right out the door.I adore him. That said, I find no sadness in his leaving. It just seems time. The last series did very little for my story wise. I enjoyed the two before though. But the recent series..meh. And I really dislike Clara.

U.S. fans resistant to a new Doctor, ones who only really know Smith, just are not really used to the regeneration idea. They are not TRUE fans, who embrace the diversity this brings. They are Smith fans.

---------- Post added at 12:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 AM ----------

Oh, and

The regeneration limit, and the number of regenerations the Doctor have gone through are set in continuity now like it or not. The Doctor clearly states that the War Doctor, while not using the name Doctor, counted as a regeneration, and so did the 10ths regeneration , even though he kept the face. Therefore the actual count is off by 2. The 11th doctor is really the 13th. The regeneration cycle does seem artificially set though if the can just give him a new one. Perhaps genetically encoded, with a "key" that can unlock new cycles?

well IF Gary Russell [who has already been script editor under both RTD and Moffatt] was brought in you can rest assured that the Big Finish team will be close behind..
and apart from Murry Gold and Briggs who has been involved in every series from the relaunch? Moffatt?

Gary would spin the Doctor off into an alternate universe, though, and we all know how well that works ... :)

I jest, of course. Give him a shot. Can't do any worse than Moffat.

AFAIK there's only two or three that have been constant - Dalek Drivers, and BF writers/actors/directors, Barnaby Edwards and Nick Pegg. The third driver may have stayed the same, too, but I honestly can't remember.

Whether they love him, or just think they may still need him to have any hope of getting into their proper universe again, I just see Clara's comments as making whoever was listening think, "If we don't help him now, we're screwed." Clara, like most humans, just like to make it all about emotion, even when speaking to a race known for scheming and plotting.

EDIT: That teaches me not to check the page number when I hit reply. D'oh!

The BBC would never allow people with zero experience running a TV to be in charge of one of the biggest and most complicated productions. Plus their writing is not good enough.

Let's be honest, the show is a huge ratings hit so there's nothing wrong with what Moff is doing in terms of producing TV people want to see.

Me, just above here. I was references the masses of Smith fans who are claiming all other Doctors are or will be rubbish. I have already seen some reject the new doctor after all of two sentences. And what I mean by my statement is that fans of the show, of the concept, are able to embrace the differences each Doctor has brought with him. I mean that by rejecting anyone other than Smith is...dunno. I mean there was a long history before Smith, and not everyone embraced him at first. Tennant fans decried the youngster. Happens every regeneration. Given time it will settle. But I mean to say that there are "fans" of certain Doctors, then there are "fans" of the show itself which will always be a larger element. I say that folks who have only seen the 11th's stories, and are already bemoaning his passing are not Who fans in the truest sense.

I stand by that and he can blow if he doesn't wanna hear it. I have every right to my opinions.

Yeah, in a harsh light it's only the 6/7A-B bit where it does seem to have all derailed (in hindsight for "Time Of ..') a bit. The whole 7A/B writing does feel like "Something" bigger happened behind the scenes that we've not been privvy to yet. I'm going to guess that it boils down to Karen+Arthur wanting to move on to other things before Moffat had planned. So he had to role forward the Clara idea that he'd been holding over for Capaldi.

No matter, though, I'm going to guess that in a few years times there's going to be the possibility of some decent 'REALLY behind the scenes' of what's happened during this period.

I think it went just like id was meant to. The farewell to Smith docu had a producer/writer say she was told she was going to be given the greatest title ever...dinosuars on a spaceship. I think that ideas ruled the meetings. Stories were developed around a single concept and the ins and outs, the gears of the story feel more left to chance than anything.

I don't "prefer" a Doctor over another. Really the fun of the show is embracing all of them. I think the tribute videos fans have produced for the 50th show the classic Doctors are just as relevant as the newer ones, maybe more so.

You can also see the links in the source code (ctrl+u) of the page - they're not exactly invisible.

Amanda please, I don't think the links are exactly reserved for exclusive people, I literally found this thread and forum FROM GOOGLE with 0 knowledge of Classic Who (I am a newvian, but it's still possible to get it) and 0 knowledge of what RWQ meant, but was able to put the pieces together dl stuff. I'd never even heard of this thread before then and yet I was STILL able to find out what RWQ meant.

I think that the RWQ system/using synonyms here to bypass google indexing is the best I've seen on the internet. I'd hate to see that system removed, because it puts links in jeopardy of takedown practically immediately, meaning that people would potentially waste more bandwidth and more legal trouble. The RWQ system is efficient and does exactly what it says on the tin.

And for the record, when I first came to this thread and didn't know what RWQ meant, I typed this into google:

site:Thread 85235 "what does rwq mean"

It took ten seconds to find out... I didn't need to ask it was the third result.
