I picked up disk 1 of season 1 and am watching The Way Back now. I'm 4 minutes into it and already interested. That just shows how amazing Terry Nation was as a story teller, lol.

You won't regret getting into Blake's 7. It's a lot tougher than Doctor Who in places (being intended for a slightly more adult audience) and the characters are superb. Nation was indeed a master of his craft, and some of his best work features in this show. Look out for a few excellent episodes by Robert Holmes too, Who's other master storyteller.

I think Big Finish and others need to realise that people simply can't afford to buy all the cd's they publish but at the same time desperately want to hear the stories. Personally I'm selective on which ones I buy (always the EDA) and try to find the others through friends or on-line. Does that make me a parasite? Apparently it does in some people's eyes.

Now I'm all wound up. I'm surprised BBC Radio published "Blue Veils and Golden Sands." It tells the story of Delia's scathing condemnation of Radiophonic's dehumanizing practices. But, they did pass her off as a "fuddled alcoholic technophobe." A true testament to the power of Delia's music & politics - the BBC had to say something and this is their version.

()
Blue Veils and Golden Sands
BBC Radio 4. Original transmission: 23rd Dec 2002.
A BBC radio play based on the life of Delia Derbyshire, written by Martyn Wade and featuring Sonic Boom as himself.

One of the most colourful and interesting composers of electronic music, Delia Derbyshire (1937-2001) was at the forefront of the development of this form, starting with a 10 year 'attachment' to the BBC Radiophonic Workshop where she is best remembered for her major part in realizing the theme tune for Doctor Who. This is the story of her remarkable years before her sadly early death.

Delia Derbyshire is played by Sophie Thompson
Peter Kember.........Himself
Anthony Newley.... Stephen Critchlow
Ron Grainer.... Martin Hyder

MP3 320 | 99mbRadio 7 re-broadcast. 2009 web capture. Please post a review after listening.

"Blue Veils and Golden Sands" is also available on the CD; "Doctor Who at the BBC: The Plays".
A toast to Delia Derbyshire http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx353/burn_eggroll/Smileys/Cooking/5167c613.gif the seminal electronic sculptress of sound.

Mate, THIS, as they say, is the s***. THANK YOU! I had no idea this even existed. Big fan of Ms Derbyshire's work, so this is hugely appreciated.

Thanks also for the B7 site which I also knew nothing of. Your knowledge and detective work will inspire others, to be sure.

I do feel bad when I download any of these stories, I know really I'm taking something for nothing, and Big Finish is actually quite a small company. But I have bought their audio books and will do in the future its just when starting out their website is an absolute pig, there's no way of really knowing what order the stories are ina dn whether you need to start from the very first and buy all 150+ books to make sense of it! I felt I really wanted to here some first before I committed to buying, and really would have thought the first 50 books would have been put at a bargain price by now to get people hooked (I'd buy loads if it was a 1 a pop), maybe exclude the brilliant ones like Spare Parts and the Frobisher one which skips my memory, from the bargain bin though. But they don't and its confusing and off-putting, thanks to the links here I've enjoyed the stories and become a customer, I'll certainly be buying the 4th Doctor stories when they roll off the production line.

And as an aside just though I'd point out the "Minister of Chance" to anyone who might not know about it, which is a spin-off from a BBC audio story "Death Comes to Time" which was free on the website back in the day, on CD now, not sure if there is already a link to it here? Anyway there's a free prologue on their website then two episodes which are only 1.29 (how I wish Big Finish had this pricing policy!!!). Its got: Julian Wadham, Jenny Agutter, Lauren Crace,
Paul Darrow, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann (Though both not as the Doctor). Worth a peek! Minister of Chance (http://www.ministerofchance.com/)

Yeah, I remember Death Comes to Time. Seemed like a great idea at the time. Think it had a few issues on its way to completion. The Minister of Chance is apparently only getting further episodes if enough people buy the existing ones, which seems like an odd idea as it doesn't inspire much confidence. They've recently worked out how to make episodes available on iTunes and are hoping this will give it a wider audience. I've also heard rumours that they're looking into ways of making a film.

Elements of Real Time were sort of used in the 10th Doctor story "Rise of the Cybermen". I don't think Big Finish have any plans to resolve the plot strands left open in Real Time.

Nobber
06-26-2011, 11:44 PM
Big Finish was called in to help produce [b]"Real Time" without a definitive conclusion, allowing for a sequel to be made. Instead the next illustrated audio webcast was a remake of "Shada" that did not involve Big Finish or author Gary Russell.

Sorry, but it was Big Finish that produced the audio for Shada, and the subsequent CD release. It was co-directed by Russell with now-Dalek-Driver Nicholas Pegg.

Rass

What I still find interesting is that BF has been having their stories lifted and put onto TV as the official "canon" for years now. Yet there is still the argument whether their massive contribution is even canonical. It doesn't surprise me in the least that elements of Real Time where snagged for "Rise of the Cybermen". For the life of me I can't think what those elements could be; but all the same they are very likely there.

For what it's worth, I agree. I do want to buy everything Big Finish makes.... eventually. I can usually only afford to purchase a half-dozen or so at my birthday, Christmas, or when my tax return comes in. While I've downloaded dang near everything here, I've only listened to a tiny fraction. I'd much prefer to have proper CDs, and treat these mp3/m4a versions as an emergency back-up, like the sleepers on Nerva Beacon (from The Ark in Space) or the Minyan Race Banks (from Underworld), in case Big Finish loses the license or otherwise discontinues the line before I can purchase them - as already happened with their hardcover Short Trips anthologies and paperback Benny Summerfield novels. Good luck finding any of them at anything near cover price today.

I just wish the series went away from the Family idea that RTD davis started and that moffat has decided to continue with.

I would just like to see a good old Doctor/Companion adventure that doesn't have a major plot line running through it.

In other words I'll like to see some stories done in the ways of the old days and in the way Big Finish had done with the middle season run of the McGann/Smith audio adventures.

Problem is that people don't seem to have the same level of attention span as they did back in the old days. Your relying on half hour a week 4 - 6 episodes to tell a whole story when Britain and sadly a large portion of the world can barely sit for the hour that RTD introduced.

For me personally I would prefer the old Doctor concept, I realize that every Doctor IS different in his own way; but the more cerebral and calm Doctor versus the now very excitable, always running, talking 80mph, Doctor. Story line wise I'm willing to accept that the Time War changed him. However this is a radical personality shift in terms of his reaction to events.

1shikawa

Maybe I should had been a bit clearer with this about "The Old Days".

I have no trouble with the 50 min format, but I just hate the over complex stories. This year's season opener was a brave mood, but when speaking to other I know who watchd it, they were still trying to get their head around the story and I seem to remember myself switching off during the second episode as I was just getting board with it (Or was it the Silence).

30 minutes won't work today like it did in the pass, but it would be just great if we could have a story that doesn't tax the brain to much and can be enjoyed and not a story that requires a bizzare ending to get out of, victory of the daleks come to mind here with those spitfire's in space, and that was just a stupid as RTD having the TADRIS towing the earth back to it's orbit.

1shikawa,

I agree completely. A more episodic approach would be welcomed. While I do like what Steven Moffet has done with the show, sometimes he seems to try too hard to be clever (this season seems especially so). Cutting back on the arch and focusing on the individual stories would be a good way to go so we don't end up having mediocre stories like Amy's Choice or The Almost People.

Big Finish has been successful with this format for their Eighth Doctor and Lucie Miller series. Perhaps the new series should give it a try.

I like the way Steven Moffet has approached the series as well, but he is making Dr Who a series that have no jump on points for people who just want to try it or want to pass the time by.

I actually like Amy Choice last year and is up next to Matt Smith's intro story as one of my fav's but the "Flesh" story is one of the worst I've seen and it wouldn't make me want to watch it again if someone said that DW was one and I found it was that story.

As for Big Finish, I got to agree with you here. with the exception of the 1st year of Dr/lucie (which had a linking story line), Big Finish got it right so that you can listern to any of the stories in any order, with the exception of a few linking story lines near the end of each season, all the stories stand alone and you can come and go.

yes! I have just had a bout of Flu (in Summer! whats all that about???), so have been stuck in bed for a week. It wasn't a shopping list I posted - just a wish list, LOL. I'm not expecting the postman to deliver a full sack of goodies to my door. After all Christmas is a long way off.

I think the few Dr Who audio dramas I have are already on here although I do have a couple of fan produced audio dramas of Blakes 7 (as well as the previously available BBC Radio Dramas from the '90's) & 1 for Logan's Run. As far as I'm aware none are commercially available. If anyone is interested I will be very happy to get my act together, convert & upload them to Megaupload for everyone's enjoyment. If anyone would like a copy of these, leave me a message & I will get on with it for you all.

Unrelated - so I'm not sure if there's a place for them on here but I also have an extremely large collection of Sex Pistols & Public Image live bootleg recordings (about 300+)- from 1976 up to & including 2011 so if anyone is an ageing Punk, I could help you get a fix ;-)

Regards

ps thanks for the links - I missed them when I was looking earlier

Hello! Yup, these Blakes 7 are not yet posted here:
Blake's 7 - The Logic of Empire (1998 unofficial)
Blake's 7 - The Mark of Kane (1996 unofficial) War Crimes & Friendly Fire
Blake's 7 - The Sevenfold Crown (1998 radio)
Blake's 7 - Together Again Tapes (see: Blake's 7 - Tapes and CDs (http://www.hermit.org/blakes7/Merchant/Tapes/index.php))
Blake's 7 - Volume 1 - The Way Back by Trevor Hoyle (TV novelization)
Blake's 7 - Volume 2 - Cygnus Alpha by Trevor Hoyle (TV novelization)
Blake’s 7 – The Syndeton Experiment (1999 radio)
Travis: The Final Act (1991 unofficial)
Your shares will be appreciated. Alternate links also encouraged.

"Those links" weren't there until you asked for them. It's part of an effort to confuse the killer search bots. I know it confuses the humans too. But, we aliens are perfectly happy with it.

Preliminary restoring of BBV Audio Adventures in Time and Space (1998-2004) is now underway in Post #141 (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-audio-drama-thread-85235/5.html#post1691451). http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-audio-drama-thread-85235/5.html#post1691451

I've got seven (I see the irony in this number)of those, I'm only missing the Together Again series, give me a couple of days & I'll sort them. I'll start a New Blakes 7 Thread for them

Woh... that's a serious amount of audios. I wonder how long it would take just to listen to every single one of the standard BF monthly range. Let's see... they're coming up to release 150. Double CDs each, so let's say they're about 2 hours each. So 300 hours or 12.5 days!!

I'd heard about the B7 audios, but never come across the "Together again" tapes. Looks like they're long sold out. Has anyone come across other audio readings by Dr Who related actors? I know Tom Baker did a version once of Jekyll and Hyde but haven't ever heard it...

As my Doctor Who Classic uploads are going and I'm fixing the comics - I'm looking into re-upping all the Doctor Who Audios.

However I probably need to look through this thread and see what's worth grabbing to have a bigger collection this time.

I have stumbled across a copy of the animated serial Doctor Who and the Infinite Quest. Its in English, but subtitled in French(I think) oddly enough. Here's the Wiki on it: The Infinite Quest - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Infinite_Quest)

Thanks for all the latest! Just a word of warning though if you're tempted by the Fineline stories - the website link given above to order CDs may well be out of date. There is an ordering page on the Westlake website (http://www.westlakefilms.co.uk/paypal.htm) but it only lists their "Agents of Psyence" CDs.

I've just finished listening to some Douglas Adams audios, and had a quick look on iTunes to see if I'd missed any. There are quite a few free podcasts listed, but the one I wanted to listen to isn't working for me. It's a free podcast from the BBC (Behind the Mic) - although I can't find it listed anywhere other than iTunes - and is called "Dirk Maggs on Dougals Adams".

Does anyone here have it or any further info? Thanks!!

Thank-you so much for your useful posts. As someone who has invested more money than I can imagine in the wonderful B1g F1n15h audios, there were some I thought 'd never get to hear due to a change in financial circumstances. Why's Phil Collinson got himself a TinTin haircut though?

As it's how to look COOL in Cardiff?

And whilst I'm here - anyone got The Minister Of Chance episodes?

I have found quite a few of Doctor Who Weekly/Magazine issues for download from rapidshare, it looks like issues Doctor Weekly 01-43 which became Doctor Who Magazine 44 - 177, as well as a quite a few random ones between 200 and 430 or so. If anyone is interested in these I'll be more than happy to post some links, but since they aren't audios or interviews or video, I thought I'd ask first. I'll also post the link to CDisplay, a reader that will make reading them on the computer much easier.

The first two of six planned episodes can be bought cheaply @ Minister of Chance (http://www.ministerofchance.com/index.htm)
:( I cannot use the payment options - sniffle. Need a little help.

Knew they'd done the first one, but not episode two.

And, yuk, i'd forgotten how bad that site is.

I've got some Doctor Who comics if anyone is interested...

Some are of the newer, 10th Doctor and above, and others are some of the shit - like 1960s/70s BnW stuff.

Hey Burneggroll, with the Weekly stuff I posted above, you can d/l the first one and open it with either zip or rar, it will have a few issues in it, all but the very last one will open normally with CDisplay, you will need the next file to get a complete version of that last file. You will need all the d/ls to get all the files of course.

I have collected editions of all the comic pages in special edition versions. 1-10 i believe.

CDisplay is the easiest to use reader for viewing multiple pages in an archive like these. There are others out there, but I recommend this one. Been using it for years.

Thanks for the latest links!

I can't find any reference to a 6-CD release of Dr Who and the Zarbi. There's a pretty comprehensive list of all Dr Who related audios on Wikipedia: List of Doctor Who audiobooks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Doctor_Who_audiobooks)

Listening to Lair of the Zarbi Supremo, I keep picturing Peter Cushing rather than William Hartnell - in this story, the Doctor is called "Doctor Who" and comes from Earth.

Does anyone have the Eighth Doctor audio "An Earthly Child"? I searched through the thread, and I couldn't find it listed. Many thanks in advance!
well if found it listed but a duplicate link for Her Final Flight I have been looking for that too it was on page two in one of the list of series but wrong link it would be great to get it fixed though

Thanks for The Ultimate Evil link (I am a member of the RNIB Book Club, but for some reason The Ultimate Evil is always "Currently Unavailable" whenever I request it - I've got all the other Dr Who titles with no problem), I am most grateful. However, I am unable to download File 20. Each time I get the message, "The file you are trying to access is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.". Can you re-load the file or advise when it will be available again. Many thanks in advance.

All incarnations of the show concerned the emergence of the next stage of human evolution (Homo superior) known colloquially as Tomorrow People. Born to human parents, an apparently normal child might at some point between childhood and late adolescence experience a process called "breaking out", when they develop their special abilities. These abilities include psionic powers such as telepathy, telekinesis, and teleportation. However, their psychological makeup prevents them from intentionally killing others.

The Tomorrow People is a British children's science fiction television series, devised by Roger Price. Produced by Thames Television for the ITV Network, the series first ran between 1973 and 1979. The series was re-imagined in 1992, Roger Price acting as executive producer. A third incarnation, running between 2001 and 2007, returned to the original concept and characters, but this time produced as a series of audio plays for Big Finish Productions.

I have rips of all the Big Finish releases if anyone is interested. I'm off this weekend for a week but when I get back I'll start converting & uploading if anyone leaves a reply to this post- sorry to tag it in a Doctor Who section, but this is a popular place to be ;-)

I'll start them in a separate 'Fred' if you want?

mantrashak, I can't find any reference to a 6-CD release of Dr Who and the Zarbi. Me either, it's only released as part of the Travels in Time and Space 2005 box set (15 cds) limited edition (8000 copies). I'm thinking "Disc 6" is a fan edit.

It is! I've tracked down the original source - a torrent. The uploader included this info: "BONUS DISC: The Lair of Zarbi Supremo (Written by David Whitaker)
From the 1966 Doctor Who Annual. An audio extra on 'The Web Planet' DVD, I have split it into chapters for this post, and adjusted volume and EQ settings to bring it in line with 'The Zarbi' audio."

A note also while mentioning the Travels in Time and Space collection - apparently Disc 1 of Doctor Who and the Daleks has an error. A small amount of Chapter 2 of the book was omitted from the disc (although it was recorded) and should have been track 19.

Big Finish had an online magazine called Vortex - The Big Finish Magazine. It had/[B] delicous previews of upcoming Doctor Who audio and other BF plays. Below [B]were the latest 30 issues.

Post #58 (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-audio-drama-thread-85235/3.html#post1677374)
Any guess how to save these to my hard drive? Or how to rip the Audio stories?
Using Adblock Plus (http://adblockplus.org/de/), I was able to locate and download 33 mp3s, 9 jpg images, and the swf file for Defending Bannerman Road (http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/sja/funandgames/academy/comictwo/comic_2.swf), as an example.
BTW, the mp3s are small, between 40KB and 140KB in size.

However, even with the mp3s and jpgs downloaded to folder names matching their location in the URL, the local swf displayed the caption when I clicked next but did nothing with any of the audio or image files.

For those interested, here's the list of files:

I don't find any evidence of an audio production. The fine folks at: Heroic Efforts Productions (http://www.heroic-efforts.blogspot.com) might be willing to do it up for you.
(http://s771.photobucket.com/albums/xx353/burn_eggroll/?action=view&current=9847079c.jpg) I'm having a little trouble navigating the blog. Those not-for-profit Marvel Motion Comics (Batman, Red Hulk, ect...) are looking good! Heroic Efforts Productions (http://www.heroic-efforts.blogspot.com)

Just had a look a the site - I think 'Heroic Effort' is what's described as what you need to navigate that site without screaming!

This was an accidental duplicate post of #421 (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-audio-drama-thread-85235/17.html#post1762744).
So I changed it to show my second favorite Doctor.
Paul McGann and wig as the 8th Doctor:

Thanks Burneggroll for the Regerations Doco and RTD BAFTA audio (amongst many). The radio stuff tends to allude those OS :)

It was great to hear again RTD's passion for both DW and British Children's TV in general.

Just one thing, can you confirm whether the 10th Doctor BF audio doco linked to the BF website is the same one found in the EDA boxset?

Thanks to Burneggroll for helping to fill out some of the missing issues.
Keep and eye on the size of some of these files as some of them are around 150-200mb. There should also be a space between links when there is a missing issue.

The request was for the complete television recordings with linking narration. Most, maybe all, are for missing episodes - those that the original video recordings were lost/destroyed. I have none of them (because I have links for the reconstructed videos). The audio-only reconstructions do add a dimension with with linking narration. Or that's what I thought was requested???

Thanks again burneggroll. Thats exactly the stuff I was talking about. I don't seem to be able to find links anywhere, especially not for the collected boxed sets. I suppose we might just have to wait for these. I could upload a few in time but I think the boxed sets would be superior.

Wow Amazing thread.. found some great stuff I never even knew existed.

In addition to the above request for BF 145 - Industrial Evolution,
I noticed that BF131 Extra "Klein's Story" is password protected "DW_Audio_-_BF_131_-_Survival_of_the_Fittest___Klein_s_Story.part1 & part 2" obtained from Post #37 (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/doctor-who-audio-drama-thread-85235/2.html#post1671769) Anyone know the password?

I found a few password protected Rar's also. Most things i found other places (or i allready had). A few rar's used the password:

[email protected]

You can try that, worth a shot.
If not I can try to upload my version someplace for ya.

Just came across something that might be worth tracking down, its called The Auton Trilogy at Auton Trilogy - TARDIS Index File, the Doctor Who Wiki (http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Auton_Trilogy) This series will fit right in here for hard to find stories and videos.

The Auton Trilogy was a series of three videos produced by BBV Productions and made on a semi-professional basis. They featured UNIT fighting against the Nestene and the Autons.

Wow - I remember these videos- although not up to BBC Production standards (obviously) I personally loved the Auton Trilogy, Downtime & Shakedown. I recommend any of these to fans who have never seen them before- thoroughly enjoyable. I must admit that I didnt personally enjoy the P.R.O.B.E. or Stranger ones as much, but that's just my opinion- I thought I would share it. There was also one called Deimos (Ithink loosley connected to the Daemons, Dr Who story & a Zygon one as well- I really wouldnt bother with that one, they are a favourite monster of mine but the Zygon one didnt do anything at all for me- they were poorly used)

In some cases, some new bit of evidence will cause me uproot and rearrange entire sections. For example, I had gone by the prevaling wisdom that the 8th doctor's adventures in the audios and comics took place in the three-year gap between the novels The Eight Doctors and Vampire Science (three years for the Doctor, but only a few hours for Sam). The Doctor Remembers Izzy in the novel The Gallifrey Chronicles, so then clearly the novels come after the comics. However, in the audio The Zygon Who Fell to Earth, the Doctor remembers the events of the novel The Bodysnatchers, so the audios must come after the novels rather than before them. This actually makes things more convenient, as the 8th Doctor novels and comics have both completed their runs while the audios remain ongoing (for now) and seem to be leading into the Last Great Time War.

MadKalnod, I know that the Gallifrey Chronicles (published in 2005) is the 8th Doctor's last appearance in the BBC Books line of 8DAs.
I haven't read it yet but I heard in reference to the 9th Doctor series starting in the same year that...
(I put it in spoiler for those like me who have not read The Gallifrey Chronicles)
the book does not end with the freshly regenerated 9th Doctor escaping from the Last Great Time War and ending up at Henrik's just in time to save Rose from Autons.
Since that's the case, then I could be wrong but unless McGann and BF decide to part company or BF loses their DW license, I don't see a BF-based audio portrayal of the 8th --REGEN--> 9th happening for a very long time.

I also heard something similar about the audios occurring in the space between The Eight Doctors and Vampire Science, but are they referring to BF audios or to some other audio plays or books many of which I haven't heard.

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EBIJ8GO7)
There are 2 more parts to this, assuming it is the requested item... Please provide more information about your request.

Yes that's the film I'm looking for. I've seen the trailer and it looks very interesting.
It stars Nick Scovill as the Doctor and features the Daleks as his foes. It was made in black & white as a homage to 60's Dr Who.
It's considered to be one of, if not ,the best fan made Doctor Who films
From what I've seen in the trailer (You Tube) the quality is excellent.

The Altered Vistas animated films are pretty good, particularly the Dalek Chronical ones. Some also feature quite good extras like short films about the Blackpool and Brighton Who exhibitions
I don't know if they are available to download but you can order them from AV on their website. They are free. Just send them some blank CD's and return postage and they will send you the films of your choice very 'professionally' done.

I've always assumed with Altered Vistas Dalek Chronicles, start with AV01 'Genesis Of Evil' and follow the numbers eg AV02, AV03 etc. Although it's better to start with AV20 which is an updated version of 'Genesis' and is a lot better.
Also check out their 'In the Comics' section. An encyclopeadia of all the Daleks and Doctors comic strips appearances.

There is a request for BTW anyone have the ribos oreation audiobook they can upload? Anybody know what that is?

I think they're asking for the audiobook of The Ribos Operation (assuming "oreation" is a typo) novelization.

Sorry for asking, but could some one point me towards the link for Big Finish 148 Rat Trap? I somehow missed it.

Unfortunately the RS-Links for BBV's "Mindgame" (1998) seem to be dead (cf. Post 456).
Any Chance for a re-up, perhaps?

Apart from that: once again thank you very much for a splendid thread!
Kind regards,
T.M.
