According to the Radio 4 website "John Wyndham's science fiction novel adapted by Val McDermid. Performed with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in a terrifying modern retelling of alien invasion and global flooding. Starring Tamsin Greig, Paul Higgins and Richard Harrington."

Val McDermid is a long-time fan of Wyndham's work and retells this dramatic novel in light of contemporary fears of climate change.

Val McDermid is a Scottish crime writer, best known for the suspense novels featuring Dr. Tony Hill.

Yeah. The fact they got John Hurt is still stunning to me, because he's pretty much been in everything from an animated Disney movie (The Black Cauldron, for those wondering) to the 4th Indiana Jones movie. I also applaud Moffat's audacity and gumption to retroactively introduce a new Doctor between Eight and Nine specifically for fighting in the Time War. However, because no one had ever attempted that blatant of a retcon before in the show's history, I suspect it'll be something that'll never happen again so we really should treasure Hurt's War Doctor as a lightning-in-a-bottle moment that could've really gone south if a lot of the fans has flipped their shit (in the negative way) about it.

I think jlatx is right: the rwq postings almost never use any google-able text. Every now and then there's a slip when someone posts a thank-you rwq and accidentally reveals the URL in the quoted text, but those get fixed quickly.

Also, there's no rhyme or reason I can discern as to which uploads get quickly taken down and which ones are left alone. Why such speed taking down the new Bloodsucker last week when some Medic stuff stays up for days? That doesn't suggest consistent Big Brother surveillance to me. It's mysterious.

And thank you to everyone, as always!

Exactly. Very mysterious.

I wasn't talking about rwq's. It was using real names instead of using medic and what-not. For example, I found out about this place through someone putting the real names for Lago & Jitefoot (the old gits). It wouldn't take much of a search through the pages to find links etc. Now I know what the name of this thread is but, as I say, I found it through typing in the real names of the old gits. If you start typing the real names W@r D0ct0r etc, when LC have put out sets called W@r D0ct0r it would be easier to stumble upon this place. Whatever happened to saying Battle Medic, or typing it the way I have above? Just saying that, what with the takedowns lately one should be more careful, otherwise people are going to say that it's not worth their while to share anymore.

That's all. Please don't think I'm attacking anyone.

in regards to the 7 Keys Stage show -- the face of the Medic did regenerate into the face of Stage Medic Trev Martin... PADS recalls this and tell about her time as the stage companion Jenny...

and one of the other little interesting comments was that the voice of the Pepperpots mentions to Pads that he would always like to get inside a Pepperpot.

Yeah, I watched that one late last year. There are a whole bunch of those over at vk. Well worth a look, though sometimes I wish they'd just get on and interview instead of the "drama" bits that they shove in (they do make me laugh, some of them). It's great that they did interview so many people for instance the Mike who played the first Dave-Ross - it's about the only chance you get to see him discussing the character, on film (something they used snippets of in the Genisys of Pepperpots DVD).

I like this.
Sometimes LC excels the most when they take risks. Their very first foray into medic1, still sticks out as one of my favorites. "Goodbye.." was a near flawless homage to all those wonderful 1st crew historicals that I adore so much.

6 really gets to shine on LC way better than on tv, but by far and away, nothing may ever compare to the Evilinn run. Too bad Mags is gone, I always wanted to meet her. I keep waiting for NuHoo to try a companion like this.

8 is blessed with two great companion runs back to back to launch his tenure. Both took risks and utilized very thought provoking scifi. But Loosy and Charlee just slay in those!! 8 just works with CP so well - kinda buddy buddy like Nick and Nora Charles from "The Thin Man" movie series. And then does the opposite by bouncing off of LM, in more of an unlikely buddy teamup tradition. Like lethal weapon, etc.
And They Both work!!

Also, I don't know which story it was. Pretty recent. About a kid with autism. And gnomes i think? That one was daring and really stuck with me. Need to give it a relisten, but cant remember its title.

What are your most memorable stories of RECENT years?

Yeah, that one was absolutely brilliant on so many levels. It reminded me a lot of the writer's CC with Colin's busty companion and the fish people, another of my favorites. Absolutely hysterical in some points. Yet tremendously emotional and touching in others. I'm not usually a big fan of these collections of short stories, but this one used the format perfectly. It's one of the only audios I've listened to again shortly after the first listen.

For those who don't know, the story is an homage to the book and play of the same name, but with the Medic in place of the word dog. The writer (who's the companion actress' significant other in real life) said in the interviews that he was inspired to write this after seeing the play. It's been playing in London's West End for a few years now, and later on Broadway. Both productions won a ton of awards, including 5 Tonys. The actress who plays 8's assistant Chiv Lenka played the mother in the original West End run.

RECENT? Hm.
All of the more recent Meister stuff from the last 2(ish) years has been really good. I ****really**** liked the format they experimented with on LoodBlust.

A Few of the Monthlies over the last year have been pretty great, while some I sort of wish I hadn't listened to.

I enjoy *a lot* that they have been branching into non-Medic stuff. At the same time, their drama's based on books that I have read more times than modern kids will ever dream of reading usually leaves me feeling, at the very least, Upset at the changes they make to the stories.

The Curious Incident of the Medic in the Night-Time. As someone who grew up with Asperger's (as well as read the book on which the title of this story is based), I genuinely loved it. I even Tweeted Nev Fountain afterwards to tell him I was touched by carefully he wrote it without it seeming like it was mocking anyone with autism. I feel like it's one of those stories where it could've been far too easy for it to lapse into what is considered "stereotypical autistic behavior", and have it be an outright mockery of anyone with that condition. But he handled it with a delicacy and lightness of touch that just worked for me. Best part? He didn't even mention the condition by name! For some, they might take umbrage with that, but the fact Nev didn't name-drop it and trusted the listener (as well as Six and Ms. Brown) to figure it out for themselves speaks volumes to me.

Been scratching my head pondering the "what's been superb recently?" and, much to my surprise, I find that there's nothing in the last couple of years that's really made me go "WOW!". Possibly the last would have been the 7/A/Scouser trilogy. On the whole they've just been thoroughly entertaining, with the odd Dud ('We Are The Pepperpots' - I'm looking at you) and the odd Pleasantly Surprised (T-Hawks) thrown in the mix.

I've been mostly catching up on a lot of the side/separate ranges like Lost Tales, Bloke 6, Medic 8 sets, Medic 4 sets, Revengers, Survivalists, and some of the CC ranges. I've been avoiding the monthly range and some of the longer running side Ranges like Archeologist Winterfield etc. Mostly because it's a LOT to chew on. I was good about the money range for the first 50 or 60. LOVED the usual recommendations like Chiming of 12, Cyber parts, Creator of the pepper pots, Creatures of Not-Ugly etc. But I lost track. Sound slike there hasn't been as many entires lately that measured up to those.

Recent titles I've really enjoyed (that I've heard since some aren't so recent in release) would be 8th Medic Adv- Homo Sapien Resources 1 and 2 and the 1st Story in the Black Eyes 1 set, Bloke 6 Chronicles - The Touring Test, Three and Blokes Story, Bloke 6 Classic Full cast - Warship, CC - The Jetpack Men, Medic Lost Tales: Laviethen, Paradiso Five, Enemy from the Future. And I'm generally enjoying the Revengers Lost Tales right now.

But- Here's a question - I was disappointed overall with a lot of the latest TV medic stuff. (Love the actor, but most (not all) of the stories have felt repetitive, rushed or not well thought through). Do you feel LC is doing a better or worse job at delivering consistently good Medic Stories than the TV counterpart?

Wow!! Thanks for all the great responses. I asked because most of the ones I've listened to in the past 2 years seem to just fade from my mind.

Shockingly, the most recent medic audio that really captured my imagination and left a mark on my brain was "The haemoglobin sell" audiobook. The medic in a prison drama was definitely uncharted waters. Which i find especially hysterical, considering how many times he's been locked up!!

I haven't finished tens new stories yet. And i love PC. But i seem to have problems with both franchises lately. Show - memorable but a mess. LC seems to keep going for big explosions over memorable tales lately. Which is probably why the Fev Nontain sat so well with me. LC is still doing a better job and all, but that might be because of the wealth of stuff coming out. Even though that wealth of product seems to be driving the quality down a bit. Actually, they just have some great writers, like the afore mentioned and Jon Moore-is. Hopefully Chris C will bring back the glory. And i hope PC gets to at least make one season with Chris at the helm.

My true feelings are - as excited as i was for ten to come back and for LC to get permission to delve into NuHoo, i think they might have started too soon!!! 1. Ten wasn't so long ago, that it invokes a nostalgia for an age long gone. Most watchers that I have tried to bring into the fold, are excited, until I mention it's on audio. Maybe if it had taken longer, they might be so thirsty for ANY ten story, that they would have taken a gamble. As it is, it's only been a couple years since he's graced our screens for the 50th.
2. I think LC should be spending as much time and money utilizing the people who won't be around nuch longer. DTen has a lifetime ahead of him. But I want as much, Frasier, Peter P, chedderton, 4, and J&L as we can get. Before they end up only remembered as a golden time long gone, like Mags as Evillinn and SJS, never to be heard from again. (JLATX ties a bow to the 2nd med trailer post that started this.)

PS - I frellin lurve y'all !!!!!!

PS - I frellin lurve y'all !!!!!! the 2nd medic trailer that styarted this evokes such a reaction because Fraze Sugden does such a good job of doing the 2nd medic and it was almost inflection for inflection spot on for the trailer for the Fearweb of the Bumble Fuzzymen of the Snow

Most very certainly a (relatively) better job. Especially when you consider that the Executive Producer is doing more that TWO series at once ...

Hmmm. Possibly. But the tone of the series has changed so much since then that that the lighter feeling actually DID feel nostalgic.

Thanks davro2015! Much appreciated.

Happy to help on the commentaries. Big Brother is watching in some way as my 2nd medic Comms (and only 2nd Medic) were taken down recently. I'm re-upping now and will leave up for two weeks.

Will finish the Scarlett Midget Commentaries shortly and add any other ITC/Anderson stuff I get when i get it.

I was out of town when the LC Alucards was put up. Does anyone still have an active link?

Also I'm snagging audiobook bios and interviews where I can. Does anyone have the Audio Bios for SJS, Roma 1, or interview with Victorian Gentlemen Actors?

Will get onto things when I've got the time. I'll have to upload all of that, unless someone beats me to it. :)

It was certainly an odd choice for them for that story. I wonder if it was originally going to be a CC and it was easier to keep some of the narration than re-wording to dialogue?

Same here. I just hope that going forward, the actor who's playing Three will be able to maintain Pertwee's cadences. He did pretty well. Even one of my friends (for whom Three is her Doctor) was pretty impressed on how well he did.

If suddenly all of the medic LC canon was available in animated form (at least as good as the better looking missing TV eps…) would you prefer to see them like this? or do you think LC is better off audio only where imagination fills in the blanks?

The major upside I can see is it would attract a lot more crowd to their stories who only ever watch the Medic and not listen to it.

I would personally have no problem with that whatsoever. Especially if it helped provide the impetus to finish animating the remaining missing eps.

Of course, they would be at it FOREVER...

And by well done we're talking DC animated movies good, not like any of the clunky subpar animation that's been done for the missing episodes.

jlatx

It might make some of the stories seem rather clunky. Passages or dialogue that's meant to be desriptive might seem odd and out of place. I prefer these left to the brilliant theatre of my imagination. I often prefer audio to staring at the screen. We all do enough if that, i think. Plus i can more freely do other things. With my bluetooth speaker or headphones i dont even have to pause for the restroom or checking the mail, you name it. But i grew up listening to OTR.

I would love some top level dw animation though. I'd simply adore it. I can only imagine if they spent half of what dc does on animation. At the cost of 4 family guy episodes we could have a brilliant dw animated mini. But like usual animation gets treated like the redheaded stepchild of live-action. People still think animated means it's meant for kids, and thats all. If they'd just spend money on a decent animation studio.

I have the same problem with Titan & idw comics. Here's an idea Titan. Instead of having 6 dw comics that no one could give a crap about - How bout you hire a decent artist and make one comic that people rave about. Idiots.

I'm partial to animation.

Only anime animation though, I'm not too fond of western style animation and would prefer to imagine that (especially the random shapes like heads/the fact that only childish things tend to get animated).

The art style is very important and it's also worth noting that animation costs are pretty exorbitant (episodes cost US$100,000-300,000 to make per 20-30 minutes also the example in the youtube video are clips from one of the most highly anticipated films) when you add it together, not to mention as an artist it takes hours to draw a single still but you somehow have to come up with hundreds of thousands of inbetween images to make an animation.

Furthermore, the fan project animations I've seen used a lot of what traced or eyeballed images or symbol drawings which makes it look extremely unnatural but to draw hundreds upon hundreds of pose variations the artists need to have a very good grasp on poses, anatomy and shading to make any movements look non forced(but realistic animation is pretty much out of the window because of how long it would take to shade) not to mention the use of CG/rotoscoping and the ability to make these effects look realistic.

I have to agree with the above comments on animation too.

It's funny how some people still think animation is for kids. Pixar's Inside Out was mature storytelling at its finest. Other good examples were ageing dealt with on "Up" and death in "Big Hero 6".

I think that would be fantastic , just seeing how well the animated series of Marvel/DC/Star Wars animated series has strengthened the brands , has to be good for Dr Who and there are so many cracking LC stories to run with :)

Just finished listening to part two of "The Crackin Bakes" by J Windhaam. Streaming free on Bee4. Breath taking stuff. Part one takes a while to get rolling. But after that the play just escalates relentlessly to the end. Definitely check it out. And yes, even though i initially winced at the idea of modernisation of setting - it ended up working perfectly. Brilliant adaptation. And yes, it was MUCH better than the old one.

Again for streamin programs off the beeb. I can't recommend "PureConnect" highly enough. It's ridiculously easy to search database is a dream for audiophiles. And the sound quality is superb. Sorry for repeating this recommendation. It'll be the last time, I promise.

Thanks for the uploads Canyonwolf! Much appreciated!

Before I go investing in the remaining audio bios in the next week or two (and I'll happily share when I do)

Does anyone have the audiobios for:

Terry N. Creator (Real life) of the pepper pots/Survivalists/Bloke 6
2nd Medic Companion Debbie W.
80's Massterr Anthony A.
Jegeroth Countess Ms. C. Schell
Bloke 6 evil queen Jackie P. (Not to be confused with the LC Jacks release)
Metal Dog Voice Actor John Leason

In regards to Animation: I'd love to see it done for LC. But I know it's too much and too daunting and some of them would actually be very difficult to realize visually and may require edits to eliminate some of the unnecessary overly descriptive dialogue. And some stories like Minute in Hell or Nekroamantis should never be heard again in any form IMHO. But if they did key extracts or maybe like the top 2 or 3 stories per medic as a way to entice new people in- it would be great. Especially as a way to a little more Six, Eight or War stories to flesh out their runs a bit (and redeem ol' sixie to those who don't listen to LC). I'm ok with the animation style of most of the missing episodes save Rain of Tarrer which I thought was awful animation and Icicle Soldiers I thought looked a little too much like Archer's animation style. But if we're dreaming sure something on the lines of DCAU movies/series would be great. Yes art style has a lot to do with it too. Likely if it were tried something more stylistic and simplified would have to be achieved. (and I would MUCh rather have the remaining missing eps animated than any LC) But I'm aware the costs and logistics involved make this almost impossible. Heck even the offical Death/Time, Reeel Time, and 8th Medic Sheda barely qualify as animation.

Just a thought really. I know we should be lucky to have such a wealth of extra audio stories generally done to this standard.

It has always surprised me Medic has never had a proper go at animation especially during the wilderness years. I know there was a proposal in the early 90's that got dropped. And the 10th Medic Never-Ending Quest and Dreamingplace were sort of experiments that I guess didn't yield enough ratings/feedback to warrant more.

So, I suspect very few will be interested in this one, given it’s not directly in “the world of the Medic”. But…

I was browsing the book section of a charity shop today, and I found a detective novel by an author whose name I recognised – the actress that played the First Medic companion Vick-hee. I had no idea she was writing novels now, but there you go.

Of course I bought it, but the glue binding has dried and some pages are falling out. This was her first novel and I couldn’t find an ebook of it, so tonight I’ll be scanning this one page-by-page so I can read it when my copy falls to bits.

If anyone’s interested in a scanned PDF of the book, let me know and I’ll upload it. Otherwise I'll continue to lurk :)

Yes Please!!!!

I'm interested. Shame it's falling to bits. It's happened to a few of my medic nu adventures from the 90's - I've had to glue things back together.
It is indeed a shame this one's well beyond repair. I never had much luck gluing my damaged Targets into a readable state anyway. Haven't been game enough to give my Nu Adventures the TLC they deserve.

Yes Please!!!!

Here you go, folks. Mawrene O'Whatsit's first detective novel. RWQ.

<https://www.sendspace.com/file/7mnd9y>

The scan, being 250 high resolution pages, was over 300mb. I've tried to find the "sweet spot" in terms of compression/quality, and got it to around 30mb. I've still got the original, though, if anyone's mad enough to want it! Cheers.

Thank you for your efforts.

As long as you use the correct glue (Craft Glue) and have a bit of patience to do a bit at a time, holding things together with your hands, as a clamp, you should be able to manage a reasonable repair. Though, it does take time. Funny, but I've never had a problem with the Bullseye books, just the ones from the 90's.

A quick query regarding the recent Tin Men box set from LC.
I downloaded the bonus disc that was recently posted here (thanks to that poster) but it didn't seem to contain anything that I hadn't heard on the original Tin Men 2 behind the scenes disc.
Did the upload contain the supposedly new featurette or is that yet to appear here?
Or is this just a bit of marketing spin for re-releasing the same behind the scenes content?

I don't know because people were asking the same thing over on vk.com, and then someone either uploaded or pointed out which was new material (sorry, I didn't give it much of a look at the time).

Great question timevortex, I was the one who uploaded the extras but must admit that I did not give them a listen beforehand, so my fault for not checking more fully. The LC description of the original Box2 says there are 5 discs, and the way the tracks are labeled on my share say that they are from Disc 9, so that's got to be the repackaged "Box2" behind the scenes. Also the LC news item for the new collection specifies 9 discs plus a "new featurette" so that featurette is what we're all looking for (and is what I thought I was posting).

Sorry for the mix-up on this---I'll try sending a PM on ABB to the original poster, to see if they might also be willing to share the featurette.

There's also a lot of Medic classic novel readings just shared over at ABB. I'll be able to share some here over the weekend.

It's right on the front page there, though it may have been bumped to the second or third page by the time you see this. Just checked it, though.
You know what we're talking about, right? That viral post-apocalyptic series on TV by the salt-pots creator, as newly made on audio by LC, v4.

As to "the other place", it's not my place to say. Hopefully, someone will pass on the word to you!

You know, my kids have never lived in a world where they don't have -basically - unlimited "new" Medic adventures. Between the 50+ years of programming and all of the awesome LC stuff, they never need to watch or listen to a single repeat.

Sadly, this is not true for their current favorite LC series; EarthBirds. In which they are desperately interested in getting more of, but which I cannot say will happen since Pretty much the entire cast died in Series 2....

originally posted in the Earle Hagen / I Spy Thread but if you like UK ITC stuff then you may be a fan of the American espionage offerings. Here's the wonderfulness of Robert Culp's Commentary for the 7 episodes he wrote of I Spy. Listens like a long audiobook though and may actually be better heard without the episodes. Oh... WOW!

Turns out, I was correct, and I already got the classic medics needed, but also found some new things I would love to give a listen.
I love Robert Culp, so I'll gladly spend some time with him.

The best way Shrine sharers have found to keep their ULs under the hat is putting it in the RWQ section. The same space where this message was typed.

Exactly how I felt too. I don't know why he just doesn't use the voice he has now - by "acting" the part I'm sure he'll find he'll sound more like the character we used to know. Case in point is the fifth medic - his voice sounds older and like he's puffed too many cigarettes, but he's still the fifth medic.

I haven't heard STAR boy yet, so I can't say... however, MOST of the classic crews sound a bit different then they did, but with their images firmly etched into our mind's-eye, they ARE the same characters.

Sure, some (V!ctor!a and Chetterfield) definitely sound older, but it's still WONDERFUL that they are performing these characters!

Personally, I LIKE 5th Medic's slightly gruffer voice.
It's just that he's got a sore throat from arguing with the Mouth on Leggs!

I'd have to go with Tripping the Cipher. It wasn't exactly fun, but it certainly was exciting and -better- interesting. I raved about it so much my brother paid the Antipodes tax to get it from Amazon for my birthday.

I liked HadowsS. It had a great pulpy-time feel to it reminiscent of The Shadow (of which is referenced). OrdsL had some great ideas, but the author's over-detailed descriptions of everything, especially fight scenes (a problem I had with most of his novels) made the book such a dull read.

I'd like it if LC used their imagination when coming across problems like missing cast members in their novel adaptations ... just like Hum*n N*ture was translated to a 10th Medic story - they don't have to be identical to the original medium. Sh*dows could use Rom*na 2 for example.

I'd also love to see a LC introducing M*lanie B*ush that isn't that awful book that tried to do it. I hate that there's no intro for her for completionists sake, just like N*ight of the Medic filled a gap. As I see it, LC have been made "canon" by that special and the books are something else until they are made by LC. Gees it's only a fictional series, I really need to stop overthinking it!

They'd have to find some way to omit the Brigadier from the story (or replace him with his daughter), but I'd love to hear an adaptation of the Eighth Medic novel "The Dying Days". It involves the Martians as well as Ms. Summerfield. I do have to wonder how they'd be able to skirt around the scene where she and Eight "shook hands and said goodbye", though... ;)

As regards HadowsS, I agree.

I quite agree, I'd love to see a proper into for M3l also, after all Medic 6 had a swan-song!

OrdsL was a bit of an action romp. I would think that LC could do a good job of adapting it for audio.

I only read a few of the Virgin novels but for me Venesian Kid's Song was one of ones that most captured the feel of the 1rst Medic era.

That has to be one of my all time favorites. But I'm not sure if I'd say that it really fit the era well, to be honest. It was featured one of the most truly ALIEN words we've seen yet for the Medic in any medium. And there's no way they could have ever done that one the show with any budget. Although now that I think about it, it does kind of remind me of the bugs story. But this one was even more alien, and in a good way. I've rarely been THIS immersed in the culture of a story. And both of the teachers got fully involved in the culture and the plot more so than in any other televised story.

So much better than the recent ST:New Voyages. Can't watch that one as the sound recording is just so awful.

Did it? I'm glad I gave up with that terrible sound and (even taking YT into account) what looked like a terrible video transfer. ST:C has far superior production values (but is let down by their Sulu. Loved him on M-Busters but he's no actor.)

ST:C has far superior production values (but is let down by their Sulu. Loved him on M-Busters but he's no actor.)Yeah it did. Not only did it use a species that was not encountered until ST:TNG but it tries to circumvent the established timeline of Kirk and Carol Marcus's romance and David Marcus' birth. Allow me to elucidate:
1. It's an accepted fact among Trek fans that "the little blond lab technician" that Kirk almost married was in fact supposed to be Carol Marcus.
2. ST:New Voyages takes place during the fourth year of the original five year mission - 13 years before ST II.
3. Kirk mentions in ST II that the first encounter with Khan took place 15 years earlier.
4. David Marcus appears to be in his early 20s, ergo there was no way that Marcus could have given birth to David after the encounter with Khan in "Space Seed".
I tried to point out this glaringly obvious continuity error on the New Voyages forum but they deleted my comment.Apparently the didn't like being called out on their shoddy adherence to established Trek history.

ST: NV actually now takes place in the first year of a SECOND five year mission, with TAS as year four and the NV episodes up to this point making up year five of the previous mission. And it's not shoddy adherence as much as deliberate reinterpretation of the timeline. James Cawley (the former Kirk of the series and head honcho) decided the visual changes between TOS and the first movie were too vast to have happened in just a couple of years time, so he's invented a second FYM (with the halfway-refit of the Enterprise) to more smoothly bridge the visual/narrative gap. So ST II now happens five years later in Cawley's mind than it did (making David 18 in that film) and the '15 years later' reference is thrown out entirely.

Not saying I agree with it, but I can see why he wouldn't want to be hamstrung by a fast-shrinking amount of FYM and/or the insurmountable challenge of trying to recreate the 1979 Enterprise.

That race appeared in Enterprise season 1 episode 19.

1. It's an accepted fact among Trek fans that "the little blond lab technician" that Kirk almost married was in fact supposed to be Carol Marcus.

Accepted by Trek fans does not equal canonical fact.

2. ST:New Voyages takes place during the fourth year of the original five year mission - 13 years before ST II.

The original 5 year mission is generally regarded as beginning in 2265, the fourth year could therefore be 2269. The Wrath of Khan is dated 2285 so there are 16 years between the two assuming we accept the episode as being from the fourth year of the mission.

3. Kirk mentions in ST II that the first encounter with Khan took place 15 years earlier.

Kirk's getting old and is vague about the actual time frame...happens to us all.

4. David Marcus appears to be in his early 20s, ergo there was no way that Marcus could have given birth to David after the encounter with Khan in "Space Seed".

'Appears to be' isn't the same as 'is'. People age at a different rate by the 23rd century (McCoy for example lives until at least 2361) so David Marcus could be any age between 18 and the age you suggest. Point being there is maybe enough wiggle room to allow the continuity of the New Voyages episode.

In any case, deep breath, it doesn't actually matter.

That race appeared in Enterprise season 1 episode 19.Yes they did. But they were never identified as Ferengi. Besides I don't really consider ENTERPRISE to be real Star Trek. Outside of a few episodes during the last season nothing about that show felt anything like real Trek.

Even though I don't care - Based on David's age in wrath, he was born well before the 5 year mission. That always seemed clearly obvious to me. How could that not be the case? Anything else would seem like one hell of a stretch.
