please tell me what rules there are ...

Just politeness, really. And please note that I didn't say you SHOULDN'T respond, just that the tone could have been better.

Have a Virtual Beer as reparation.

AND EDIT TO ADD - Actually, I think I came across far too much of a jerk, too. It's been a long day and I've been banging my head against trying to learn new software all day and it's made me a somewhat grumpy lack-of-beer monster!

Everybody has their reasons for being here. I'm fairly broke from buying all the DW books (650ish (including spin offs) and counting) but I still make allowances for the sales the company has every month with the intended goal of having a complete collection. Incidentally, several titles are being offered starting tomorrow for two thirds off their original price. Check it out.

That said, besthead was very specific about which titles he was referring to. Colin's two special releases featuring J&L. And he is right, they are at a ridiculously low download price. There isn't a person on this forum who couldn't afford that price. Arranging an electronic transfer of funds might require asking a friend for a small favor but the reward of future, similarly priced releases is just too important. I applaud him for his effort even if some of the ears it falls on are deaf. But I won't condemn anybody for ignoring it either. We're all here for different reasons. All we ask is you make an effort.

Whilst I agree with that post, what I cannot stand is the preaching and quite aggressive tone of bestheads post. The assumption that people had downloaded it from here, and the global telling off for everyone, because they feel strongly about this. When Dark Eyes is released I will be crossing all my fingers that it doesn't get leaked because I want Paul McGann releases to be supported and them shown how much people want him, but I won't come here preaching when it is released on here. People can make their own mind up, all it would have taken was a non accusing two sentence post. Stating the facts. No opinion or preaching.

If anything, that post makes me want to download it from here.

Yea i had a few problems because i didnt know they changed there policy so all emails have to be verified now. I used to be able to just create as many accounts as i needed with fake email addresses but now i have to actually go to like gmail and make the addresses. Its fixed now i verified it. So try again and all should be well.

Guys, Colin's special releases are only ONE dollar/euro/pound!
I understand if you can't afford many of BF's releases, but surely you can afford these two.
Can we all agree NOT to download and post them?
That's not too much to ask, is it?
It could also benefit everyone. It's an experiment to see if people will actually pay for their releases if they price them this low. And to see if we'll still post their stuff, even when there really isn't any justification for doing so.
We've already failed on the second point. Can we at least try to succeeed on the first one?
If they make enough on these releases to still be profitable, then they'll release other stories much cheaper as well. And they've also said that they'll dconsider lowering the price of the whole line. But not if everyone pirates their super cheap stories, too.
I mean, it's a dollar/euro/pound. Don't you think BF deserves at least THAT much of our support, after all the great stories we've gotten from them?
Does anyone here actually think that an hour of Colin and J&L written by Jonathan Morris (plus 14 minutes of extras) isn't even worth that much?

For what it's worth I buy BF audios when I can find them, I live in Ireland where demand nd supply is relatively short, the only place in Cork city that even stocks anything is Waterstones nd even at that it leaves something to be desired, I have been fortunate to purchase 8th nd 4th Doctor Adventutres at around 15 Euros each, they even had the Curse of davros which is somethin of a rarity casue they hardly seem to get the monthlys. I would love to purchase downloads at least but I only have laser which means unless it's actually in my country I can't buy it, nd I am never geting a creddit card.

I know its a fairly corrupted sense of morality that I justify dubious downloads cause I support when I can, but fact of the matter is I probably would never of gotten into these audios to begin with if it weren't for them. For what it's worth I'm gonna order Dark Eyes with Watersones just so I can physically have it, I'm salivating at the thought of hearing that one nd gettin some closure after T*o t*h*e D*e*a*t*h.

My two cents. It doesn't matter how cheap something is. Here in Brisbane, there is one shop that we can order from (and be charged normal price for a 1 pound release) and the southern ones like Galaxy and Minotaur - all of which put there own cost to the original price. Then there is Data Extract with there out-of-date info. And you have to order over $300 to get postage free. I do however like the idea of the pre-paid cards though, as I need them for the host sites, etc. And as I don't actually own a credit card (by choice), I buy a pre-paid $100 card every 3 months so I can do Rapidshare and Deposit Files at Premium. [as I don't have the Internet connected back home and I need a fast service without waiting]. I'm not sure of the exchange rate, but have got Pay-Pal so it could be a answer. But I still appreciate those who do the uploading and CD burning for me and others.

Nobber is right about being aware of making our written statements into a tone of voice that may not be there. It is always a struggle for me to write and make the tone of what I'm trying to say clear enough so it's not misinterupted.

I don't have a credit card either - i just have a prepaid card from the bank and that is linked to my paypal. You can use paypal to buy from BF but there is a nominal charge for doing so. I don't even try to buy locally as there aren't any shops at all that stock them. (And if they did the mark-up would be so big i'd be better off buying from BF anyway). I do have subs to a couple of their ranges so don't feel guilty about d/ling the rest as i've spent a lot of money there - and if it weren't for the d/l's i would never have discovered them at all or spent the money i have on them. I haven't bought the new UN!7 one yet, but having listened to it and loved it, that's more money i will spend next month (they have extended the special offer to the end of the year, for those that weren't aware). I have also purchased the d/l's for the two ridiculously cheap stories - and i do agree, if you have a way of paying for them, you should, if for nothing else to encourage BF to do it again ;)
And don't forget this month's specials on the site are available this weekend - so head on over and see if there is something that tickles your fancy ;)

I had made a request about a month or so ago for some non-medic stories. I don't recall seeing any responses and I'm not sure if that was due to nobody having the items or if I was too confusing in my attempt to hide the titles so I'm going to try again. I'm looking for any of the second season of Large Conclusions Sher-Luck Homes (specifically the Dog of the Basker Villes and The Knotted Up Skein) and the second season boxed set of H*I*G*H*L*A*N*D*E*R. This has been mentioned before but i guess it needs to be mentioned again..

This thread is about sharing with everyone else in here without any hope of reward - posting links only in return for other items is a bad idea and not in the spirit of this thread. Share or don't. Just don't make sharing conditional on getting something you are after.

This is not directed at anyone in particular, just something i've seen happening more and more over the last few weeks...

Let's keep this a friendly thread where we share just because we can...

I totally agree this should be a friendly share if you want to for no reward. And I have done that this month. I only asked that if someone put on here an audio I was after in exchange for me to reup everything, I don't think that's asking much at all. I will keep uploading on here but if I make request for someone to help me out, it never happens apart from one user. This is all meant in a nice way. Hope to upload some more soon.

I was going to upload part one when I got home, that was all.

But I can see we are not allowed to joke around here according to evilmonk. Funny, I was not aware there were any problems or requests for returns apart from the light hearted ones. Still, every thread has people who take things far too seriously.

I was going to upload part one when I got home, that was all.

But I can see we are not allowed to joke around here according to evilmonk. Funny, I was not aware there were any problems or requests for returns apart from the light hearted ones. Still, every thread has people who take things far too seriously.

And this is the problem with text and messages! what you and I may read it as, such as light hearted and such, others will read as a demand and commanding things in return. I dont think anyone is to blame here, just that the meaning of the tone is lost in cold hard text, as there is no emotion nor inflection when reading words on a screen! I for one thank you for your shares Goldie and am thankfull, just as I am guilty for asking if you would care to share that tale of the colourless guy with his painting!
This is a great forum, with great people who post and share things, long may it continue, and to quote a certain nut job..."why so serious?"

While it is certainly easy for light-hearted comments to be taken in the wrong way when read on a sterile black and white typeface, I would like to make a suggestion. Instead of making a joke that you'll trade one thing for another and have a laugh, why not make the joke and then post the very thing you offered to share? That way the request gets filled and everyone else is aware of what an awesome person you are.

Guys, Colin's special releases are only ONE dollar/euro/pound!Is there a problem with posting a genuine publisher's link?
It is always a struggle for me to write and make the tone of what I'm trying to say clear enough so it's not misinterupted.Translation is always an issue. Surely, you've talked to women?
This thread is about sharing with everyone else in here without any hope of reward Trades are an exchange of consideration and cross a legal line in some areas. Free is a gray area, don't muck it about.

Off-topic: Outside of the 'net, I have never ever seen anything related to DW. Abundance of Jimi Hendrix here.

Seen on the 'net: "Your file is terrible quality - shame."
Which prompted scathing responses that interpreted the original as:
A). Shame on you for posting crap.
B). Gee, it's a shame your hard work didn't turn out better.

And my favorite rabble rousing comment;
"All of the people shot at the Batman premiere were found to be in possession of a video recording device (mobile phone). The MPAA applauded the shooter's defense of copyright."

It was amazing how many folks could not recognize sick, sad, ironic, sadistic humour - and thought the report was real. I almost got barred for starting the firestorm.

I wonder if also mediafire isn't also looking at files from certain IP addresses and then fast tracking to take them down (admittedly i have no idea if MF can do that when the files are uploaded but it may also be a reason)

But the worry of a spy among us is rather unsettling, much as I try to get all of the Large Ending CD's, money is tight and these do me in the mean time until i can get them in the future and having lost the resource of the green imp, i was so happy to find this place. Additional thank you's to everyone out there who have found these and put them here for us to enjoy

Using Spoiler Tags not longer hides content from Google searches. (That's probably why we have so many newbies.) You can test by copying part of a post and then using Google to search for it. Note that Google can now search by image, too (enter the image URL in the Google search).

New #2.0 exclamation test: hidden comment exclaimed the dwarf prospector of nubile entities

Hey that WORKS. Enclosing information inside of HTML Comment Tags (http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_comment.asp) hides the information from Google search results.

Been a lurker in here for maybe a month though I'm not sure how old my account is because I first found the forum while looking for flac versions of some rare Vangelis material a while back. (Edited to add - yep, Feb 2012.) For what it's worth, I came across this particular thread not by browsing the forum, but when googling a specific Large Ending Medic What episode I was missing. Have been trying to but can't remember which one. After I realized I've hit gold I just stayed on. My point being we're not unfoundable by Google.

I'm planning to purchase the last three episodes of the audio franchise featuring Toby Longworth (playing a stroppy law enforcer from the distant future) as soon as my employer wires my monthly money ration. Would there be an interest in that series?

I stumbled across this thread a few weeks ago, in the same way as jijoya. Surely, if we had a spy, this thread would have been closed by now?

There doesn't have to be a snitch around for us to be noticed. Precautions or no, this thread is not hard to find. They may not even have had to use google. Given the amount of people on this thread (including all the registered lurkers), a direct link to their website would probably receive enough click-throughs for them to take notice.

Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if we've been on their naughty list for some time now; didn't burneggroll get a warning to take down his links a while back?

Talking of Mr Longworth reminds me ...

Indeed they do. However, prices seems to be quite a bit higher than the ones I saw on BF the other day (I'm talking specifically about the futuristic law enforcer series, haven't compared anything else). In the Apple Universe it's something like 9 euro per story, while BF charges 4.

I really do wish BF would pick up that series again btw. (Though there's probably no hope if something as phenomenal as Blue Stone & Superhard Metal has made no return.) No, I can't say MANY of the "I am The Law" stories were great, but enough were, and Toby Longworth is a frighteningly versatile voice actor they need to recruit (far) more often. Plus, making a character like D sound sexy to a nonbeliever like me (let's say I approached the series with extreme prejudice after checking out the comic) is an accomplishment of massive proportions.

What happened... An over-zealous fan made criminal accusations in BF's public forum. Officially BF was very polite and non-committal. They admitted the accuser was a BF employee "...acting outside of their job responsibilities." BF did not remove the accusations, BF did not remove any links or "uploads". BF did not ask me, or FFShrine, to do anything. Rather than let accuser continue screaming until something had to be done, we took the gentleman's way out. I offered to remove the posts and BF said "that would be nice."

BTW - Some BFDW authors and performers did respond with their opinions on what should be shared freely. BF did not make an official policy statement. The conversation is still available in the BF forum.

hi guys, great work here.
I have a semi-related question:

I saw on the website of large conclusions that they are doing some audios about Dorian Gray and I was wondering whether it was the Dorian Gray from Legion, so if it was possibly related to the Who-verse. Has anyone here listened to it and knows more?
And even if it turns out to be not related, is it any good?

There are several kinds of scripts. These are television transmission transcripts of the spoken words, lovingly written down "exactly" as it was said on air. These sites have been free to the general public for years.

The Doctor WhoTV scripts are available at:
The Doctor Who TV Transcripts (http://www.chakoteya.net/doctorwho/index.htm)
Also has transmission scripts for Star Trek and it's spin-offs!

An alternate source for the early 21st century Doctor transcripts is:
The Doctor Who 2005 Transcripts (http://www.chakoteya.net/doctorwho/index.htm)
This is the youngster of the bunch. Last update was in 2008. I included it because it is the easiest to read. Site navigation is a little tricky > click the episode you want > you'll a page of episode credits > click the episode title > Allonyz! The transcript appears.

BLAKE'S SEVEN Transmission Scripts
Blakes 7 Television Scripts (http://www.startrekcrossindex.com/MVblakes.html)
"The pages are best viewed with IE6, Full Screen and Size (font) Smallest, hidden tool bar and Windows task bar and the monitor set to 1024 x 768 if you have a wide screen."

Stargate transcripts (Yahoo group)
http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/Stargate_SG-1_and_Atlantis_Transcripts/files/
Looks like a p-i-t-a to sign up...

Some script websites for the hearing impaired are even older than these. If you need other languages, remember you can always check the subtitle sites...

* Not to be confused with:
The story was expanded into a 1958 novel, it is still in copyright. A 2008 unabridged (7 hour) recording for the blind does exist. An unabridged commercial reading, narrated by MacLeod Andrews, was released in 2012.

There's some good stuff on that site, isn't there? (And some terrible recordings!)

Be pleasantly surprised if you do track down who volunteered for the recording, though. Which is a shame as it can be very hit'n'miss about getting a decent (or, worse, computerised) reader.

If anyone wants custom covers for the Love and War BF release, I have done some using the New Adventures book Logo and the cover image from the book. These are 300dpi images and include replacement front and back and booklet covers. There are also custom CD labels for full face and.....er.....non full face :P. Hope you guys like them. Let me know what you think.

Sorry about the CD image above I used the full face cover but selected the non full face CD in the imandix program. You should not get any text cut off if you print them.

Oh damn it. I will download the main range, but Black Ears is far too special to me, I have an ongoing love affair with 8.

And I assumed that it would come out the usual kind of time in the month, meaning payday for me (the 20th) and now I have to wait 10 days!! Might dust off the Visa to be honest. I will avoid the internet until I have it though, the spoilers will kill me.

Hi, I'm an old fan of the medic (1982) in all his glory and, since I'm legally blind, I love the audios. Lost my "pusher" when the green imp took a powder so am looking for another source. BF150 - ?? and any BBC audio books. CCs are okay, but not a fav. I will post some of the oldies in return as soon as I figure out how to do spoilers.

And broke their website doing it. Looks like no releases this weekend. Sad times.

I know they're working on the bandwidth issue to hopefully get us Dark Eyes, but we'll probably end up waiting for the others (between this morning and now, The Shadow Heart and Return of the Rocket Men both disappeared from my account and went back to pre-order status on the website).

I'm trying to get Dark Eyes downloaded, but the time remaining keeps oscillating from 2h to 8h, so I'm not very optimistic. I'll let you guys know if I have any luck!

I had my afternoon planned along listening to this long awaited title and now that's scrapped. Worse yet, my schedule won't free up to Weds. Pooh.

It's official. The above named titles which I'm not silly enough to print in this thread have been delayed a few days until the massive number of people dl the big title ease up.

Each time they've had 'a big event' release like this their servers and bandwidth have promptly run away and cried. And yet it never feels like they learn from the experience and each time it takes them by surprise.

I know they're a small company and all that, but it's damn frustrating that this happens time and again.

Cheeky question - but is the theme in there the one that came with it, or have you 'fan edited' it?

Just that it's not the one I would have expected.

(Not that there's anything wrong with the one used as it's by far my favourite of his themes and certainly better than that terrible thing they used earlier in the year.)

Thanks!

I tell you, that theme really threw me for a while. Was it just me, or was the final closing theme yet another Arnold re-mix? Sounded different, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Great, but odd, choice. as I would have expected Nick's take on it to fit chronologically with the Lucie stories. (Unless,of course, that's covered in the Extras that I've not heard yet?)
