I doubt this new site has any genuine connection with the green imp, it's probably a scam set up on the back of a very popular and now defunked host. I was a regular user of the imp and hoped it would be resurrected but I'm steering clear of this one.

Looks like they could be good! I see they're using a lot of former LC writers - good to know they found employment after Mr Brigstuff decided he'd write everything (and do all the voices)...

“Some intriguing details on John Hurt’s role in the 50th anniversary have been revealed by the man himself.” (Courtesy of http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/)
Mr Hurt, who lives near Cromer, earlier told the EDP he had just finished shooting a Dr Who 3D special in which he plays “part of the Doctor” in a “kind of trinity” which includes David Tennant.
Ever since Hurt was snapped in costume back in April there has been a big rumour circulating claiming that he is playing the role of the “Forgotten Doctor,” one that was “lost” in the Time War between the 8th and 9th incarnation.
His role essentially is a way of filling the void left by Chris Eccleston who was unable to return.
Hurt’s recent comments here could corroborate this rumour, but as ever, we’ll just have to wait and see.

If this is true I have a little theory…
What if the BBC are planning a Doctor Who cinema release or releases based on the Time War, what would they need? My guess is they would want a box office name to play the Doctor (sorry Paul), John Hurt could be seen as that name by some of the higher peeps at the BBC. So Imagine that Moffett was asked to write a story that would introduce a ‘forgotten’ Doctor into the series, one that fought in the Time War. What better episode to introduce him in than the 50th Anniversary adventure. The BBC now have a new canonical Doctor and not another Dr Cushing (sorry Peter, great as you were). It is this Doctor that they would use in the leap from TV to cinema.
Of course its all conjecture on my part.

Bit of a kick in the teeth for PMcG if it is connected with the damn time war. If ever there was an excuse to get him on screen, then that's it.

When I first read about his supposed character outline I didn't believe it either, but this rumour is certainly gathering speed and substance. As for P Mgnn, I don't think the Beeb care about who they kick in the teeth, Medic What is a big money earner for them and I bet they think money comes before loyalty to a actor that played the part once 17 years ago.

Is "meh" in response to the news report or my theory? :D

Wouldn't put it past the US government to be behind this. Get everyone sucked back in them fuck everyone's pcs over with malware to teach us all a lesson. I certainly don't trust it after all the reports I've read.

As far as a Time War movie goes - love to see it, regardless of who plays the Doc. Yes it is a kick in the teeth to PMG but as it's already been pointed out, he's not really a big name in the grand scheme of things.

I agree with you on both points, I realy don't think D2 is to be trusted, maybe the best policy is waiting for six months or so and if it's still going with no reported problems than maybe trying it out, but I wont be bothering.

A Time War movie/s must be on the top of all our lists and if they ever do it I have no prefrance as to who they choose to play the role.

Not in the slightest bit interested. From how RTD had 9+10 grandiosely speecify about it all it's a conflict that's too large in scale, and too complex in premise, to really depict decently.

Ha! Unless it's a story to discover that what the timelords described as A Great War is only down to them never really being involved in a war properly and the rest of the universe would describe their conflict as "similar to two children in a playground squabbling saying their respective fathers would beat up the others"

Ha ha :)

Th point is is that if it is a fake, a US Government plot or a scammer's scheme, the most significant damage is already done - they already have the email addresses and login details of everyone who was registered on the old site. Malware and all that seem like small potatoes in comparison.

None of the key admin of the previous site are on board (yet), so it seems what we have is a bunch of guys driving an abandoned car with a trunk load of your details in the trunk...

Still I hope it works out....

I've visited using my old login and haven't experience any cyber attacks or avalanches of spam as a consequence. Mind you, there's very little content there beyond that which was posted prior to January 2012, the search function does not work and it doesn't (at present) have its own trackers, making it no better than any other torrent portal.

Nope.

There's a wee part of me that even vaguely resents RTD plonking such a great hulk into canon. Especially as the two main effects (no more timelords or daleks) have been reversed. The latter ... well ... it's almost like they'd never gone.

And I believe that the character is better off without the mope-cloak of being 'the last-of-for-now the timelords' and is better served by just being a space/time vagabond and adventurer.

When the series returned in 05 and we were told about the time lords being all but extinct I was bloody horrified. No more Girliefry? what bleedin moron wrote that? But I've got over it now and seeing as its now part of canon I'd love to see it realised on a cinematic scale.

The medic is and always was a adventurer, RTD did lose sight of that fact for a while.

If they make a movie, they will want to have it accesable to the general public, especially worldwide. Do you think they they would want something like the Time War that has a lot of history coming into it that will make it hard to understand to newbies?

Can't say I noticed that. Good little story that felt like it fits the era, but Tom seemed a little off his game in this one. He's been showing a great level of energy up-to this one, but, dunno, felt like he was a bit tired during this recording. Will be interesting to see what he's like next month.

But what I do find strange is that there's a few times Tom comes in just a smidgeon too late on some lines in all of these; something you think would be easy to fix with how they do multi-track recording.

I've been meaning to get hi res cover art for all the stories but haven't had the time. Someone did post a way of getting them off the bf website:

On the page with the show details; if you right-click (PC) or Ctrl-Click (Mac) on the image and select "Open in New Tab" or "Open in New Window" - it will open the image without it being embedded in a flash frame. Then, in the nav bar, delete "_large" from the file name and hit return and - bingo - you are taken to a 1495px 1483px image.

For example:

Code:

"" = 605px x 600px

"" = 1495px  1483px

Hey peeps... Has anyone heard a rumour that the 2nd episode that was missing (but found) of the U*N*D*E*R*W*A*T*E*R*M*E*N*A*C*E has been leaked online in an unrestored version? A couple of people on Gally are saying they have seen it, and a quick search on google turned this link up

- Doctor Who - The Underwater Menace, Episode 2 (Previously Missin (download torrent) - TPB (http://pirateproxy.net/torrent/8459539/Doctor_Who_-_The_Underwater_Menace__Episode_2_(Previously_Miss in) -

Now I can't get the link part to work cos of some magnet stuff, plus i'm not all that trusting of the link with my computer but has anyone by any chance found the mythical episode?

Edit - it may also be found on something called thebox . bz

I have been told that the link that is spoilered is really the episode.....

*FAINTS*

I can confirm that the one on the box is genuine.....coz I just watched it!

This is all just a huge dump on the chests of fans, IMO. This "7th anniversary" special is nothing of the sort.

Well it isn't, because no movie with John Hurt as "Doctor Who" will happen.
I love John Hurt but we'll never see him in a "Doctor Who" movie because it will take too long and he's already on the launch pad for Valhalla.

If they make a movie, they will want to have it accesable to the general public, especially worldwide. Do you think they would want something like the Time War that has a lot of history coming into it that will make it hard to understand to newbies?
Well I did say my theory was all conjecture on my part. It started off as a bit of fun but the more I thought about it the more it seemed possible.

CelestialTeaBoy may be right in the fact that a movie won’t be made that stars John Hurt, who though excellent as he is wouldn’t be my first choice to play the role, but the fact remains we are long overdue for a big screen release and it seems to me that now would be the ideal time, we have had seven series all of which have remained in the top slots of the TV ratings, it has won awards galore and continues to reach a broad audience both at home and abroad, surly the next logical step is a cinema release.

If it was well written I don’t see why using the time war as a theme wouldn’t work, it doesn’t necessarily need all the back story of the previous 50 years, after all when the series returned we didn’t get a recap of the previous 26 seasons and the series flourished with a new found audience.

If what we have read about the non involvement of classic Doctors is true then I would agree with Stinkor that this is nothing more than a celebration of the new series, but why would they do that if it wasn’t leading to something bigger? Surely Moffett isn’t so stupid as to think that the men who carried the mantle for the first 26 years count for nothing, we know he has a licking of multiple Doctor stories so I do expect to see something of the previous faces in some sort of context, but maybe he isn’t thinking about the past so much as the future.

I suppose we just have to wait and see.

Very nicely done. But whatever you do, don't credit Gary Russell for Epoch of the Porcine. That was written by Matthew Sweet. If Russell had written it, it would have been jam packed with continuity references to the point where they would have to have excised the pig from the plot entirely to make room for Cyber converted Nimon fighting the Valeyard on Skaro.

Incidentally, what's the name of the font you use?

I'm so glad i didn't waste my money on it in the cinema - as it was i watched it at home with no idea of what it was about (hadn't read any reviews or seen clips or anything) and didn't realise it was a prequel - i thought it was an all-out third rate ripoff and wondered how they'd gotten away with it

As i soon discovered it was just a third rate prequel

Yeah, the 50th apparantly wrapped last week, Matt's off to make his film, then supposedly back in October to film the Xmas (very quickly!) and apparantly straight into the 8th. Although, since Matt has been seen filming his movie with an almost shaven head, people are now supposing this may mean he's not coming back (have they never heard of wigs/haircuts??)...

I liked Prometheus. It's not a great film, it's not even a good film, but it's one that lives with you long after you've seen it. It's flawed and a mess, but it's a beautifully crafted and intriguing mess.

I think screenjunkies' Honest Trailer (http://youtu.be/RBaKqOMGPWc) sums up its short comings in a concise and humourous way...

I agree, and this is after Alien Verses Predator Requiem.
causing more harm after that is in its own way a remarkable feat

it's one that lives with you long after you've seen it
Like the injuries from a car accident

Prometheus is a huge heap of pretentious bullcrap, more interested in its own supposed significance then anything like plot, internal consistency, or entertainment.
A triumph of visuals over content, it represents what happens when writers, directors and producers start believing their own publicity about their "genius".

You know, I don't think I've seen the Alien on with PMcG. Must do that sometime.

Alien3 is an underrated neglected classic, the last great film to feature those beautiful, terrible creatures, and the assembly cut just proves it to be so. (It's also bloody obvious to me that Gatiss was referencing it pretty heavily in Clod Wahrrr this series)

With all this Blokes 6+1 stuff lately I just had to start watching the series again. Started from the first three episodes last night. Great stuff, very well written I think. This is the tone that Torchwood should have aimed for with their "Adult Doctor Who" take, I think. A shame Blokes 6+1 didn't have the budget for the SPFX - some of the model work is great, but then they use photos to represent the ship. I still love the show.

---------- Post added at 09:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:58 PM ----------

I didn't mind Prometheus - a bit pretentious though. I really identified with the caesarean scene though as I'd had four operations where they'd opened up my abdomen, within the space of 7 months last year - it was a bit TOO close to home! I watched all the bonus features on the Blu-ray and got more out of it that way.
It's a bit like some old 60s DW that I'd not really thought much of on VHS, but when they came to DVD and I'd listened to the commentary and watched all the extras, that I'd learn to appreciate.
I really enjoy the Alien franchise. Have to say I recently re-watched the first three movies. It is good seeing the alternate versions of the movies, and three does have a lot more to offer - very interesting.

Well, that was better than I feared it would be.

Good story but written by a terrible writer that hadn't noticed DT left years ago.

The new look of the Cybermen is OK, but really not sure about the Borg-a-like upgrade as they go along mainly as - well - it's too borg-a-like.

Think this is going to be a 'grower' episode, but those kids really didn't need to be there as the plot really had no need for them beyond that minor hook of getting them to the park.

So, a slightly grudging thumbs up for me.

Stonking performance from Matt, though, doing his split-personality thing. And JLC ... ppphhorroooaawww!!!

Well, I like[d] it "said Florence, hopefully..." [Jasper Carrott]
Methinks Gaiman listens to LC... Chess playing robotman? Shades of the shiny burk... And as for the worgyborgy upgrades? Pondas was first!
all in all, a fine Sat evening romp.

Matt Smith gave probably his best performance so far but it was totally over shadowed by the irritation of the bloody kids, and to be honest a very poor story on so many levels. Slightly better than than the Rings of Arse but only because of Mat and some interesting ideas for the Cybermen

tonights episode
Random thoughts

The Good
Liking the new cybes design, the face is very reminiscent of very early designs
the new C-mites, nice!
a general lack of sonic
the medic talking with "himself", done quite well. The C-medic was almost sleazy.

The Bad
surprisingly Gaiman can't write dialog for children, some of the lines the boy had were very clunky
the overhead shot of the Cybes on the march....why not in formation?
cop out ending, and hardly a surprise to anyone with half a mind

Overall
I've seen worse this series, but had hoped for better

A few of my own thoughts...

Since when have the cybermen been able to upgrade themselves like that, and aren't they supposed to be identical - they seemed to be different heights and incapable of marching in formation.
Preferred the kids when they were controlled by the cybercontroller (ie they were silent).
Loved the line 'A mystery, wrapped in an enigma, squeezed into a skirt a bit too tight'.
Warwick Davis was brilliant.

All in all one of the better eps and a good old-fashioned romp for a Saturday evening.

As a Sci-Fi film in it's own right it ... sucked ... As a supposed prequel to Alien it sucked suckier than a thing that had graduated top of the class of suckiness from the university of suck.

Looked pretty, though.

Ohh dear,

Sorry, but that was like the Cushing movies without the Daleks!

No tension, a performance that the lead clearly didn't believe in, and god awful kids to boot.

Liked the idea of the mites but feel that the super-speed Cybermen owe more to Danny Boyle's '28 Days Later' than WHO.

Surely we can remember Sarah Jane's fear that " they don't get tired". What is more scary than that? Knowing they will never give up is more much more terrifying than a quick burst of speed ala Clark Kent.

Think that we need a breath of fresh air in TARDIS now, Matt Smith is a great actor but is not being done justice by the scripts this year.

For those that may leap to disagree, I still think it's the best programme on UK TV at the moment, but can't we just play things straight again?

We have the budget and superb SFX that the classic series was never afforded, please make use of them BBC, upset a few people, push the envelope and produce sci-fi that will stay in the memories of eight and eighty year olds alike.

Rant over.

Live Long and Prosper (just back from Star Trek Into Darkness).

I have felt that this series has lacked the feel of the older nu-who stuff. The getting rid of 2 episode stories hasn't helped, and where as I know the final episode will resolve the who 3 series arc that seems to have been in place, the Clara thing hasn't been the greatest of ideas, or at the very least hasn't been executed well. The name part feels like a cop-out is coming, the post Library River idea could be great but feels like it will be doomed.... Even the anniversary special isn't getting me excited.

Bar the Gatiss episodes and Hide, the episodes have been below par really....

I don't know why, but I am still not feeling this series at all. Just something wrong and I can't work out what. So gutting that it happens in the 50th year, but I just don't care about the show that much. I am an obsessive normally.

Tonight the kids dragged it down. He was ok but she was terrible. Not being impressed that they had travelled in time and space and moaning? Very unrealistic. Even if she was a brat, that would shut anyone up. Telling a Cyberman she hates him? Has Neil just watched Hollyoaks and decided he knows what a teenager is.

I was not a fan of this really, and I very much wanted to be. It was just very average. Enjoyed the nods to the other Doctors.

And Clara just taking control of soldiers? Right.

Bessie in the trailer is the only part I got excited about. I just, personal opinion, wish Moff would go away and leave DW now. Hand it to somebody who is less up their own arse. Never had a problem until series 7b. Love the man all the way back to Press Gang, but now just feel that something is very very off.

Off to listen to some EDA to cheer myself up.

Personally, I agree that it was another disappointing episode (with the exception of GREAT performances from Warwick Davis and Matt Smith). I also agree with those who are saying it would have been much better to have left the children at home!! But, seeing as how the TARDIS made a special cell phone for the girl..... we know that she will be back!!! (and, when they do come back......I will do like someone above said.....I will clean the cat boxes.....that smell would be better than having to watch MORE bad scripting and writing just to work the two children into the story).

I will also be anticipating the LC anniversary special (which sounds GREAT in it's trailers) and far more than yet another disappointing let down RTD style!

My excitement at the LC story is tempered by the fact Nicky of the House of B.R. Iggs is writing AND directing it. And - at the risk of sounding like Ian Levine - all five LC Doctors in the one adventure with all those companions, it has a mess written all over it. Anything can look/sound good on the basis of a trailer - I would point you in the direction of "Victory Of The Daleks" trailer kind sir.

Doctor Who: Victory of the Daleks - Next Time Trailer - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZTbSzuYVvI) <--- even looking at this now I cant believe it was soooooooo bad.

Needless to say, I will listen to it (any Who involvement with Davison is worthy in my eyes) but my excitement is in check. Hope i'll be pleasantly surprised.

I don't get the negativity towards him at all. I pretty much love everything he does, LC has never been so great for me. I am about 11 months behind on everything except for 8, which is why I never really come here on release days, but I do think he leave Moff standing.

I"m honestly saddened by the lastest episode.

the Good:
proper cybs are always nice.
The Doctor talking to himself.
Honestly the chess match
Showing the Classic medics like they did.
The relative lack of Sonic
Rather Fast Cyb. It was interesting to say the least.

The Bad:
The Kids. Can we just drop them off a cliff?
Still felt like it would of been better as a two-parter.
Cybs not walking in formation? They are/were mostly machines connected to the controller/planner why wouldn't they all march at the same time?

Next Time: I really hope they go out with a bang, cause honestly this season's been a bit of a let down.

He is a talented writer (Creatures Of Beauty, for me, is the best Davison audio. Pure brilliance), but his over reliance on the Daleks is infuriating. I am always concerned when a man puts himself in a position of ultimate power in a company like LC. He's chief executive (if you will) and when he writes stories, he also directs them and - on the FREQUENT occasions the kaleds appear - stars as well. If you have someone like that imposing themselves on the story/plot ideas, IF they are bad stories/ideas - who tells him? Who has the guts to tell their boss "This is shit?". Judging by podcasts and CD Extras (which I have now stopped listening to as there is only such much brown nosing I can listen to in one sitting) its certainly not his co-hort Richardson.

I genuinely think the Blokes 6+1 range is so consistently superb because NB hasnt got involved. I also think there are disturbing parallels between TV Who and LC Who; the show runner of the tv version is distracted by Sherlock which seemingly affects his abilities to run the show...meanwhile in LC, the show runner is distracted by his version of Sherlock which seemingly affects his abilities to run the show.

However, I am perhaps in the minority. Maybe you guys all love the Daleks on audio and love it when they show up...

I agree on some points, but I actually enjoy all the stories so I am less bothered by the dominating effect.

Thanks for explaining.

Oh, I dunno. The 4 Docs they did worked pretty well on the single CD release they did, so spreading that out over two CDs with an extra Doc plus the hangers-on should still work OK *IF* they stick to that format where the stories are one (or two) docs have their own chapter that links to a bigger story and they only meet en-masse at the very end for a brief fan-nod.

I've heard about all of the defenses and all of the criticisms that are mathematically possible, so I'm not trying to start something. He has Bary Grussell's and Evan Moffstat's problem of not turning epic and important stories over to the superstar writers. But even Moffstat and Grussell didn't insert themselves into their stories (apart from Liver Gong being Moffstat in a wig). The writing on Blokes 6+1 is excellent, getting the characters pretty much spot on. The format works pretty well too ... not a full audio, but more than an audiobook. I think the GarState series is excellent too, for pretty much the same reason.

I like a good Dalek story as much as the next man, but I agree they are being overused. I'd like a few Dalek/Cyber stories without the title or cover giving it away - just once I'd like the villain to be a surprise.

But even Moffstat and Grussell didn't insert themselves into their stories (apart from Liver Gong being Moffstat in a wig). It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Bob Dovie, the every man in The Night at the Lend, was played by NB.

Well, he IS listed in the cast, isn't he??

Same here, I stopped being a regular user when they banned the sharing of all LC audios. Maintaining a 1/1 ratio was bloody hard work.

It's frustrating because I maintained a 4:1 ratio on Demonoid back when I was on fiber optic. Then it went and died.

Just for a change of opinion on here - LOVED that episode!!

the girl was trying too hard to be a sulky obnoxious teenager but LOVED the rest of it

Am loving this season (except for one episode which seems to be everyone else's favourite lol) and will happily watch the lot of it over and over.

Last nights show, hmmm.
I enjoyed it, great new look for the tin men, although I completely agree about the children (girl in particular).
Annoying that the tin men can't seem to walk together anymore too.
In any other season this would have been an ok episode, but in this season which has been pretty dire, it stands out as one of the better ones - I'll be honest and say that I won't be revisiting many of these stories in years to come. Such a shame that in the anniversary year the episodes have been such a let down. Maybe it is time for a change, a lot of smoff's shows have left me a bit disappointed to be honest and I can see why he's abandoned twitter due to criticism from fans who have a very immediate way to express displeasure now. It's just all been a bit of an anticlimax for me.

Annoying that the tin men can't seem to walk together anymore too. .

Arguably, such drill perfect uniform c-men are the anomaly. If you go back to the classic series you'll see a whole raft of shapes, sizes and movement from them as individuals and groups over the years. Look at the Five Drs, for example.

Well! Thoughts on the ep.
I really enjoyed it.
It was a delight to visit the Earth Empire again.
Definitely not sold on the kids as characters, but I didn't consider the writing of their behaviour particularly uncharacteristic of teens' absurd contrariness... it didn't seem to me like bad writing of the characters: I just didn't like their presence at all.
Flash cybermen was an unnecessary detraction; they don't need to be souped up any further. They really are scary enough in their juggernaut aspect.
I am honestly not even bovverd about the formation marching capabilities of cybers. It was obviously an intentional feature, and I guess people disagree with the choice, but it doesn't really detract for me anywhere near as much as the supercyber thing does.
Software patches, yes. Hardware patches, not so much.
Did like the cybermites. I've always considered silverfish a bit suspect; now I see why.
A two-parter would've been great, they could have had more of a stand-off before the cybers figured out how to cross the moat, and more could definitely have been made of the platoon.
I really liked the Doctor-mind/cyber-conduit virtual space. It looked good; it fitted.
Not super-keen on that skirt-chasing turn at the end.
The borginess was not super awesome, but I'm struggling to think of a better way to have done it.
I agree, Chess+Cybers does strongly suggest Ag Turk. But it was a significantly different story so I don't mind.
Interesting that a couple of the cybers seemed to be Cybusmen.
Standout performances from Warwick Davis and Smatt Mith, and I really liked bossy JLC.

I want to see a battle between one of these cybers and a Waston Wawwiah Wobot.

This really is Who's 'Marmite' season. All the stories so far seem to be of the Love/Hate variety. I personally don't hold out much hope for the last story or the special. Hope I'm wrong (I really do). I think Matt Smith's Doctor is excellent, a cross between Troughton and Cushing, but is it time for a change of Showrunner. After all it was the constant change of producer in the past which kept the show fresh.

Apart from Rings, I don't think most of the eps have been too bad. None of them have been great, just meh. Matt and Jenna (along with most of the guests) have been wasted and on the whole the series has been disappointing. It might not have been so bad if the series hadn't been chopped in half again, and the Clara storyline had run properly from the beginning.

I'm hoping that the rest of the series has been so poor because Moff has put so much effort into doing such an awesome finale and 50th, but I doubt it :(

It was the CyBUS men that were more regimented, though, wasn't it?

I'm probably biased as I think the early (10th/Moonbase) Cyber's are scarier in that it's more obvious that there's still a living being under all that gear. There's a real feeling of 'body horror' with them.

Totally agree with this - a lot of people don't like the 10th P model, but it's that blank, surgical cloth face that really freaks me out...

That's the thing I liked about the new ones - smooth, blank faces again. Also, not very chatty, just the one phrase or so repeated coldly, like in Toom. Very glad they got rid of the flares in this design, too, always hated them. Also really liked the super-speed thing, very well realised, but it jars a bit when the sound designer still insists on making them clang and hiss so bleedin' much!

The story itself, I think I need a second viewing to take it all in before passing final judgement, so much in there, but I did enjoy it in the main. The kids weren't as bad as I expected... welll... the boy wasn't - but that ungrateful, sulky little cow should've been cyber-slapped early on. Jason Watkins was wasted in a pointless role, and Warwick was a bit of a revelation - his acting was subtle and restrained - a million miles from his amateurish flailing in Willow all those years ago. Should've been a thank you to Marc Platt in the credits, though, for the blatant steal from S*i*l*v*e*r T*u*r*k...

Strange prequel, too. I really hope next week is good, but I'll admit I'm a bit worried...

I liked the new cybermen too, as for the fast flash like cyber i just presumed that its so far in the future, as they said it was 1000 years since the last great cyber war with the Earth Empire that the cybermen would of upgraded a great deal in that time during and after the war, did the Earth Empire have anything to do with LC cybermen series?

Those kids were abit pesky but i think they were there for show as in fear that something might happen to them as they were caught by the cybermen after all.

Also while thinking about the episode didn't the cyber doctor planner say that there was 3 million cybermen CPU to access to solve that chess problem? where are the 3 million cybermen? Was they all in the Tomb or are they spread out further into space not all on the one moon or planet what ever they was on?

Is it me or do we all want to see a re match with the Daleks vs Cybermen with these new versions of them, i also would love to see the OLD original Cybermen turn up and lay down some smack on these Cybermen who are imposters to this universe.

What was with the Bessie drive by Clara thing i wonder, was it from an actual old episode where 3rd Doc is driving Bessie or was it all CGI made up can anyone tell from just looking at it slow motion?

Given the time the episode aired, it was a safe bet that nothing would happen to the children.

I got the feeling that all the cybermen were on the planet and it seems that all the LC cybermen stories seem to be set at different times.

A proper war between the daleks and cybermen or old and new cybermen could not be done in a single episode - or probably not even a two-parter. Personally, I'd like to see it as a mini-series; maybe even without the Doc.

A strangely familiar tree in the background, comparing Clara and Bessie with a clip from The Five Doctors.
Could suggest they will CGI Clara into classic clips so they can include the older medics.

That’s very interesting, and a very plausible solution to having classic Med’s in the anniversary would be to lift them from the classic era episodes rather than having to explain why Bom Taker for example looks almost 80 instead of early to mid 40’s.

After all Star Struck DS-69 did it 17 years ago in the episode Trials and Dribble-ations to great effect, and given how production techniques and software have advanced in that time interaction between old and new would be flawless.

In my book the Cybs work far better when a spark of humanity is shown, the individuality in movement from last night’s episode for example showed that even though they share a hive mind they still carry traits of their human past which only reiterates the full horror of what they are.

I refuse to use spoiler tags once something has aired, I don't debate it after the other week, I just won't use them.

However on this, I totally agree with you, if something does leak, I will watch it, and I will of course use spoiler tags until it has aired. I would be pretty disappointed if anyone didn't. It wouldn't bother me, but it is a bit mean.

Given the rate they're releasing them, no you wont :p

But we've already seen that it doesn't air at the same time for everyone - Oz seems to be around 24 hours behind. I know we've had this discussion before - there's no rule says that we have to spoiler these things, it's just a common courtesy.

You do know I was agreeing with them, don't you?

I know we have discussed this before. And I am not meaning any disrespect, we are not an Australian site. If somebody cannot make the effort to avoid something for 24 hours, then they honestly cannot care that much about it being spoilt. Being a huge fan of Prisoner and now the reimagining, Wentworth, I visit Australian forums a lot and I would never expect them to speak in code just for me.

I would never spoil an unaired episode and I fully agree with them.

Spoiler tags on a mobile device are a pain in the arse on this site. I use them when needed, but once something has aired the embargo is lifted on reviews and spoilers are everywhere.

And I just broke my rule about not debating it.

I will shut up now.

Eh, has everyone seen Ian Levine getting himself in a state?

Oh and despite my ranting, you will notice that I never post anything that reveals endings or huge reveals. I may be opinionated but I am not cruel.

I like the new Cybermen but I do kinda miss the stompy sound they made when walking. I'll probably pick up a couple of the action figures if they are released next month. It seems a little odd not to have them on the shelves while the tv show is airing.

I'm getting back into bloke 6+1. It brings back so many memories. At the time I wasnt a huge fan, but we had to watch it as my dad fancied Servalan.:)

Can anyone help with bloke 6+1 vol 2 & 3? I think I'm up to date then.

Is it me or do we all want to see a re match with the Daleks vs Cybermen with these new versions of them, i also would love to see the OLD original Cybermen turn up and lay down some smack on these Cybermen who are imposters to this universe.

The references to their previous vulnerabilities to kitchen cleaner and gold would seem to imply that the present cybermen are in fact descendants of the classic models, not the interlopers from Rose's parallel universe.

Great to be watching this again, Joseph Furst is excellent as Zaroff.

I don't know if this has already been posted, but here's a copy of newly found part of The Aquatic Terror. It's not the best story ever, but new episode of 2!

Just a Cyber side note: Not all of the art-deco cybers are "imposters to this universe" In "Closing Time" The Art deco Cybers that were buried beneath the store were in fact from the Prime Universe rather than "Pete's World". This is evident by the lack of the Cybus logo. (And if you don't believe me consult the DW Brilliant Book 2012.) In Nightmare last night there were two "Pete's World" cybers and one art-deco from the Prime Universe.

RE - Bluray of finale sent early to our American friends.

I am at a wedding on Saturday so will miss the finale. If any of you guys see a link to the episode or a massive spoiler synopsis of the final episode, I would greatly appreciate getting to see it. PM if you must to avoid others on this forum seeing the final episode (I know how hard it can be to avoid the click of a spoiler box).

I am confident - without any proof I add (hence no spoilers) - Tennant will appear in the final five minutes

Having said that, judging by tweet BBC Office has just issued about fans not revealing spoilers I think there may be credence to a little DT action

"Steven Moffat has promised if fans help keep the finale’s secrets, we’ll release a special video featuring Matt & David right after the ep!"

You could alway record it and watch it sunday :).

There's a torrent claiming to be The ňm of the Dŧŕ on buchaneer bay, but on closer examination the content is a file called "gnfos.mp4"...

There are 1,974 people at this moment unwittingly downloading "Gay Niggers from Outer Space", a short independent movie from 1992 (look it up on IMDB!)

No need for a spoiler box here - I think they're trying to get the message out there as much as possible! Personally, I think it's bull! It's 100% certain (in my opinion, anyway) that they were going to show a preview for the Anniversary Special after the season finale so this isn't so much promising us a reward for our loyalty as it is threatening to withhold things to cover up their own cock-up!
