Without listening to the whole album i can't choose my favorite tracks. Initially i'll pay attention to listen complete album, later i'll pick individual tracks that i likes much and deletes which i don't like. I don't create playlists and whenever I listen to music, I listen it in Shuffle mode so every track in my library needs to fulfill me.
But you've got Nickelback and god knows what else in there... So you shuffle genres as well? How can that be fulfilling? You can't even set a mood... Or do you at least have mood playlists?

After in depth use of like a few hours, applying the scientific method yada yada, I think I'll be switching to MusicBee. As far as I can tell it's more lightweight than foobar2000, and album art loads a lot quicker. I also find it a lot easier to customise after getting used to it.
(Also it has those pretty iTunes colours.)
Also, I'm thinking Doctor Strange is both my favourite Marvel score, and my favourite Giacchino score. I felt that The Master of the Mystic End Credits was slightly misrepresentative of the score as a whole, but all in all I ended up liking it.

Plus the remake.
Might dig up the TV movies that continue the movies.
I think there's 5 and then the remake.
Found the scene with Sam Niell talking to the cross in the third one to be interesting.
Will be doing a marathon over the next few days.
Did Jason Vorhees, Freddy Krueger, The Thing.
For The Thing, I still need to get the older one. The Thing From ANother Planet or something?
Got Michael Myers and the Chucky doll. I forgot the dude's name that possesses the doll.
Phantasma. Up to the newest one this year.
I've done Scream to death countless times. But by god I'll watch them again.

33:00 - 34:13 (
https://youtu.be/pZmBUrArStM?t=33m), one of the most beautiful, exceptionally written escalations, and advances to culmination I've ever heard in any classical piece - this one happens to be one of my favorites.
Yes, although I've not even close to heard more than two, I think Anton Bruckner's 7th symphony, more particularly the second movement "Adagio", is the one that connects with me most. There are those specific moments which really characterizes how and why I enjoy it so much, (like 32:12 - 34:13 (
https://youtu.be/pZmBUrArStM?t=32m12s), and 27:54 - 31:03 (
https://youtu.be/pZmBUrArStM?t=27m54s), which is the section I'm most familiar with; the section that was used in Call of Duty) and the elegant style overall.
Why is this? You're damn right it has a lot to do with it's prominent use in Call of Duty and Call of Duty: United Offensive, that's the whole reason I know about it, but it was also months ago that I listened to the entirety for the first time, and I've loved more and more each time. It's a really long piece, (21 - 25 minutes, depends on performance) but nothing unusual to some of the genre's standards. :p
Yeah... the romantic classical era is definitely one of my favorites.

Geoff Knorr - Arabia (The Medieval Era) - Sid Meier's Civilization VI Original Soundtrack
Usually not into ethnic Music, but this sounds pretty nice.
Ethnic music? I'm into that. Or should I say, explicitly, a good sum of Southern Mediterranean (Arabic, Egyptian, Middle-Eastern, etc) music I really enjoy, and music of any other cultures that share a lot of the same melodies; I've noticed that Spain, Hungary, and in some cases, Russia has offered some of those sort of tunes that fit my agenda. But it varies, in some ways. Admittedly, there exists music within these ethnic genres that I really don't care for, I think it's safe to say that each one consists of different categories of various melodies. Should you want some examples, I will provide some, but off the top of my head, belonging to the Southern Mediterranean group, would be the Prince of Persia scores by Stuart Chatwood; a series which clearly calls precedent for such a style of music. But also, if considered the individual composer's perception of how the music is going to or should be, I can expect some different things, some of which I'll like, and some of which I'll not like. It depends.
Now, apologies if I've digressed quite some bit here... but what I was going to say is that the words 'ethnic' and 'Arabia' caught my eye, and that I think Civilization VI's score looks really interesting. Looks like there's a track for most countries, which should (hopefully) result in some diversity. :) so I'm going to check this out.

I Can't Really Choose Any Favs As Yet, I Like All, Because It's All Different.
That it is, that it is. If you've not heard them yet, two tracks that I would urge you to listen to are "After the Drop" and "Arnhem"; two very emotional and very beautifully elegant cues from Medal of Honor: Frontline that I, in my humble opinion, think it is absolutely essential that everybody listen to them. Personally, they've both driven me to very mild tears, and are so beautiful, and so effective, that, just... you know. Very highly recommended to any soul who's not heard them.
If there's a top 5 for Giacchino cues, they're in there.
And, in the case you've already heard them, well, by God aren't they heavenly?!

It has some decent parts to it to make it an interesting survival movie.
But it turns into another Hunger Games instantly.

listening to inferno again.
Never made it to the second half yet.
I'm Feeling A Tad Vulnerable
Sounds very dubsteppy.
The stingers we hear from A&D are here but distorted.
Like intentionally distorted to create a dubstep presence.
A lot of slow rises to change the tempo slightly.
A lot of repetition. This sounds more like a soundtrack for a video game than a movie.
I get the Heaven and Hell concepts that Zimmer was going for.
But this is one messed up Hell.

Venice, track 6, seems to stand out over previous tracks.
A nice piano underscore. Synth piano, but still.
The first 5 tracks all sound the same. Nothing distinguishes one from the other.

Waaay too much reliance on that electric guitar. Reminds me of the worst of Batman Beyond.
The best tracks are the ones where they display range, just like for the TV show: "Raven Finds Book" (the best imo), "Starfire Wins Videogame", "Tokyo Arrival".

Too much minor mode special sauce slapped on a undercooked theme that spills outa the side of a mushy, bi-polar electro-orchestral bun, leaving behind the same over-processed aftertaste as the composer's other fusion cuisine recipe: Event Horizon.
That, and it virtually makes no dramatic contribution to the film proper.
Of course, my remarks should be read with the understanding that the assignment was a contentious one for the composer, with opposing interests seeking different outcomes.
TheSkeletonMan939
10-29-2016, 12:56 AM
Indeed; Singer wanted Ottman but he was working on some other movie.

I like Kamen's score to the first movie.
Some very exciting tracks. I overplayed them when gaming all the time.
Even the small things like when Wolverine first pulls out his claws slowly, is very captivating.
Just the sound design to it in general captures me.
When Wolverine and Rogue get rescued by Cyclops and Storm in the beginning, that's my ultimate favorite as it has the established X-Men theme.
I'll never be able to reproduce the excitement of hearing it the first time.
It was pure wonder.
It was perfect for the action onscreen.
The surprising introduction of two of the X-Men. The introduction of the theme. The introduction of a beautiful friendship.
I try to give it a couple years before listening to it again to try relive that moment.
Alas I cannot.

Reynolds wants to stay and wants to copy/paste the first movie because it's a commercial formula.
But the director wanted to go a different direction because he already got everything out of the way in the first movie so now the character needs development.
So now it has no director.

The first X film struck me as a rush job with an awful script, two, perhaps three standout performances, but buoyed by a comic book savvy director trying his damnedest to make it look bigger and better than the penny-pinched budget would allow him.
TheSkeletonMan939
10-29-2016, 01:20 AM
Absolutely. The first X-Men film is dog doo-doo. I think the spectacle of seeing the characters on screen - and portrayed well, for the most part - was the one thing that made it so celebrated.

Yeah. People are glad because "oh Tim Miller was gonna ruin Deadpool, now we can have more Ryan Reynolds penis jokes lolol"
Well lightning doesn't strike twice. Miller knows they can't just run through the motions and repeat the success of the first. There's needs to be alteration, development, growth.

All of them have their strong points. But First Class is edited with all the contempt a studio suit could possibly haver for dramatic narrative: "where's the action, get to the action. The Chinese don't understand English, for fuck's sake! CUT! CUT! CUT!". DoFP's strong point is its attention to character. They're not just cool props to sell toys. Which is so unlike the Marvel conveyor belt, it's not funny.

Ugh! The only good part were the future sequences.
And the Quicksilver part.
Throughout the whole film, Charles is saying that he needs to appeal to Lawrence through her emotions, and not mentally shut her down. The problem is that Mystique is a TOTAL KILLER, and displays this not only throughout the entire film but also every other one (save First Class). The only reason she drops the gun is because the script needs her to. Utterly unconvincing.
Also, the ending is stupid.

I like Rogue Cut a lot.
After you sit through all of them, it's really nice to see the focus of Eric's human side. His potential.
That's even more supported from watching First Class.
I love it when Charles and Eric team up. They could conquer the world if Charles wasn't so soft.
I think the Mystique in the prequel movies show more character than the assassin in the original trilogy.
Rebecca didn't have much to work with except gymnastics and showing off her blue bod.
We only ever got to see a different persona to her character in X3.
She was too much of a henchman. The Oddjob to...whoever hired Oddjob.
First Class humanized a lot of characters. Even Beast got to show his fleshy side.
The villains in First Class, however, are run-of-the-mill manufactured villains.
They were the Mystique and Toad of the first movie.
TheSkeletonMan939
10-29-2016, 02:10 AM
First Class not only humanizes Erik but also gives a convincing look at how he and Charles became frenemies. I think this is critical to understanding why Xavier puts up with his bullshit in all the other movies.
All the supporting characters are fleshed out. All of them, with the exception of Azazel. Each has a personality and a reason to remember them.
The style is indeed flashy but it is wholly backed up by substance. The plot is great, except for the silly beginning where li'l Erik blows up an entire lab but doesn't kill Shaw. I don't get that.
I have DAK's opinion on that, somewhat.

Mm, this track is actually not so much my cup o' tea. It's cool. I still appreciate it. But it's sort of... mystical in the way I'm not too fond of, and it wasn't what I expected to hear from a track labelled as "Arabia", it isn't too fitting for the given country, in my opinion. Of course, it depends on the artist's perception of how it should be (which relates back to what I spoke of a page or two back), and what usually serves as music for whichever respective ethnic style.
What I think would've worked better for this tack's place, is this (
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B18GQkZXWsEVSE5zOGl4bS0tb3M) (roughly 0:00 - 0:22 and 1:17 - 1:49), or something similar to it.
Even Egypt's theme would've worked well. That's actually the track I love from Civilization VI at the moment, it's so thematic and beautiful. I mean, how about 1:46 - 3:34 of "Egypt (The Industrial Era)" (
https://youtu.be/pdlNKSJMEeY?t=1m46s)? THAT's what I look for. THAT's what sends tingles down my spine. Or, in your words verbatim, this track has me captivated. :p

Indeed! I can't stand to watch the theatrical anymore.
I was enjoying it but as soon as I watched Rogue Cut, everything changed.
Also, how the fuck does time travel work?
That's never a sane question to ask.
The things that made it change instantly were the plot points they tried to fix in the past.
The first assassination attempt got thwarted.
The pivotal piont that would make them all disappear in the future would be Mystique actually killing Trask.
If any of them got killed during the past when it changed to a new line, I'm sure the future one would disappear.
They ought to have made some expendable characters to illustrate that.
The past plot largely depends on the status of the Sentinal project.
Which when Mystique gave up, the project was terminated. Thus removing all threat.
No one was really in immediate harm's way of disappearing. Only at the two points: the first meeting and then the football field.
Those were to be long-term effects in the time ripple.
When Kitty does it, the ripple is much shorter and the threat much more immediate than long term investment like the Sentinal project.
So her interaction affects them nearly instantly. There was still a delay in things changing for them as they showed with the threat of the beam slowing down.

I really want this on UHD-BD. 4K resolution....

So you're saying that critical, decisive events may take more time and energy on Kitty's part to mend?
Interesting. Okay, I'll buy that.

So you're saying that critical, decisive events may take more time and energy on Kitty's part to mend?
Interesting. Okay, I'll buy that.
Rememeber they also said she can only go back a little bit because it breaks down a person.
They needed someone who can heal as quickly as they get hurt, hence Wovlerine.
She was also not that strong to send them back further to more critical points that would buy them much more time to get to safety and away from being hunted.
We can see how long they've been playing cat and mouse with the Sentinals at the very start.
Like they've been doing it for quite a while by now.
Any little bit they can to get everyone together to formulate a plan.
I suppose, if they spent enough time, they could have done an Edge of Tomorrow routine where they try their best to keep finding faster ways of convincing Wolverine and getting to a more secure place to start the time travel with Wolverine.
Even if it's a couple hours, all they need to do is get the earliest headstart to leave that mountain in the jet and fly to somehwere else before the Sentinals detect them at the mountain.
But that's too much risk. They'd be so vulnerable in the jet. Kitty would have to be prepared all the time to send someone back and start over from scratch to get Wolverine onboard the plan and then try a different route to outrun the Sentinals.
The theatrical got an UHD release, I think.
No word on the Rogue Cut.

I bet they can make a game out of DoFP.
Have an entire level trying to outrun the Sentinals with Kitty.
it'd be a rushed and crappy game, but it's nice to think on it.

It's so (too) often a video game adaption of a film isn't handled correctly. Finding Nemo is a good example. Cheap voice acting, bad control, etc.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a reasonably well done adaption. Although it's exactly like God of War and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in many ways, and that it vaguely follows the film's story, while sometimes completely straying from it, it's one of the few examples of a decent video game that was made under the brand or title of a film. Sadly, some of the LEGO video games succeeds in areas and fashions that actual video games of some respective films never did. And sometimes may serve as a game when there was never one made.

Spain and Norway are some more incredible themes. I prefer the industrial era for both of those tracks, and Egypt, and seemingly for most others.

Maybe you feel the opposite, I don't know, but I value your opinion because you have your own good reasons.
Haven't given it much thought to be honest
It does sound a bit European Medieval Age -ish now that you mention it. I guess what i like most is
the hypnotic Quality to it...
That Goldsmith Track sounded Arabian, yes, but i didn't like it.
The Part from Egypt(Industrial Era) is ok, but nothing remarkable to my Ears, i like the Part that starts at 4:02,
it says "Industrial Revolution" to me.

Because if they're constantly in key with what's 'in', they'll probably never revisit songs or music they truly enjoyed.

I was referring to newer music coming and going away, while all the songs from the past (and any new acts that actually do good) still have play.
