I don't really understand the need to eat during a movie. Why the distraction? It's not as if your body can even properly digest and get the most nutrition out of the food you eat (not that there's much nutrition in popcorn and ice cream) if it's attention is wrapped up in a film.

You are so right, ManRay. If people aren't using their hands to eat - and it's scary the quantity of theater "food" - more like faux food - they purchase and then consume and no wonder so many Americans are obese - they are using them on their smart phones text, talk or play games.
I don't have a smart phone. I have a dumb phone. So stupid it couldn't pass a urine test.

Agreed. Whenever I go to a theater by myself, I stuff a candy bar in my pocket and that's it. When I do get the crap food the theater sells (often twice as expensive as the ticket), I end up eating all my food during the 20 minutes of commercials anyway.

The Hannibal season opener is really good. I wish more movies were as well written as some TV series. TV these days is better than what's playing at the cinema, in general.
And I Zombie surprised me and in a good way. Honestly didn't know how the series was going to turn out given its premise that could have gone pear-shaped so easily but it quickly became one of my favorites.
Oh, and finished season 2 of Arrow. Good stuff. I'm getting the feeling I'm going to like its take on the Suicide Squad more than the upcoming movie. Michael Rowe as Deadshot works for me more than Will Smith. (Rowe projects a cheery kind of fatalism that works for the character. Plus the bit the tattoos is a nice touch.) And Michael Jai White owns it as Bronze Tiger. Doesn't hurt he's a real life martial artist. Check out Blood and Bone if you want to see his fighting skills.
Now on to Arrow season three.

Often the BTS documentaries are as interesting as the movies themselves. For example I've never understood the appeal of Gone With The Wind. What is romantic or how can one have nostalgia for a period in American history when 40% of the population of the old South were slaves, considered property, not people? And most the wealth was controlled by a small minority.
Having said that, the BTS docu of the movie is fascinating. It was in many ways it was the first tentpole movie.

Forgot about Wicker Man. A superbly creepy movie. And he and Peter Cushing - another sorely missed actor - were the team in Hammer horror films. Cushing was one of the few actors who could make the good guy as an intimidating force as the bad. His Van Helsing could bring it. You could understand why the bloodsuckers feared him.

The books are always better, and that's why I don't plan on ever reading The Hunger Games, because I love the movies so much. If I read the books, I fear it'll change my view on the films and I don't want that to happen. I'll never read the novel of the film that I want to see for that exact reason. I think To Kill A Mockingbird and Holes are the only books I've read where I enjoyed the film as much, if not more.

Yes, but what about an instance of the movie sucking bad? Will you forego a potentially superior experience because of that?
I'll never read the novel of the film that I want to see for that exact reason.
Agreed.
I'll maybe afterwards, for example I haven't read any GoT books but I plan to now that the show is becoming boring as hell (I mean Hardhome was nice but the rest of this season was pretty much 'meh'). I happened to have read Angels a long while back, wayyy before The Da Vinci Code film was even planned. It's just sometimes you don't know whether a book will become a movie or not so you read the book and then years later when the movie happens to come out, you are always comparing it to the source material. But I'm pretty good at putting myself in the director/writer/filmmakers' minds and understanding their approach to the material, making sense of why some things need to be cut/altered/added. And then a movie just sucks, not only as an adaptation but also as a standalone work of art that makes me mad. Or sad, depending on how my day's going.

Chickens. Related to the peacock or peahen and while not as pretty definitely more useful. So which one is Ginger and which is Mac? Egglayers for your personal use?
Yes, chickens. These six are only a few weeks old, and we are only looking after them for two weeks for friends who are on holiday. We have, however, had chickens ourselves for the last five years. We inherited them from friends who were moving to the states. There were seven - Lightning, Thunder, Ginger, Maisy, Daisy, Velvet, and Snowflake. We now only have the last three of those. Ginger sadly passed away a few weeks ago. She was the most outgoing, enthusiastic hen we had. And she did try to escape a few times to begin with. We then sussed it all out and suitably fixed up the front garden.
They do lay eggs, but not very many anymore, due to the amount of hens we now have and their age. We get maybe one per day in the summer.

Alex Chaplin feels that of the three scores Giacchino's put out this year, Jupiter Ascending is by far the best.
Jurassic World and Tomorrowland are all right but don't do a whole lot for Alex Chaplin.

I got something to say about Fantasia (1940) that I have thought just now:
Fantasia (1940) is a no doubt animated masterpiece, for many reasons, such as the blend of wonderful visual animation with brilliant classical music that tell a story with the medium. However, there's something to be said about Fantasia; that even though there's greatness in it, this movie (in my opinion) it's not for everyone. Nevermind the dark content in the last sequence with Chernabog, what I mean is, this is a rather hardcore movie. It is not for everyone. No matter the lovely visuals and music, you're most likely to get really bored if you don't appreciate or like classical music, or are an animation fan. The reasons why Fantasia has become a ageless masterpiece are mostly because of the great sequence that the Sorcerer of Appretince was, because the other sequences, although great, don't really make a huge difference among the public. Lucky for me, I am both a classical music and animation fan, and enjoy animation blended with music telling a story, so, Fantasia is one of my favourites. If it wasn't for the Sorcerer sequence, this movie would have been forgotten like many others, because, like I said, for the mainstream audience, the movie wasn't a big hit.
You're right about all that. It is pretty hardcore. And adult. Nudity and Satanic stuff. But the animation is brilliant, and the music is wonderful. :p

If the stick the landing in a book, movie, song, etc . . . that's what people will remember even if the beginning and middle are wobbly in content or execution. The two sequences most people remember from Fantasia are The Sorcerer's Apprentice & Night on Bald Mountain. The latter is so popular Disney is planning a movie based on it.
Night is my personal favorite.

They are rubbish, but they're really fun. As bad as they are, I still love them. Transformers is a huge part of my childhood, and no, Michael Bay did not ruin my childhood like so many people say.
The score for the first film is my favorite of all 4, because that's where it all started. All the themes originate from there. It's also one of my favorite film scores, it means so much to me. I'm lucky enough to own the physical disc, as it's now out of print.

Like many others I, too love the first Transformers score. It's Jablonsky at his best. The second one was mostly boring but N.E.S.T. was cool (Linkin Park contributed so...). The third one was okay, not that good but not terrible either it had some good stuff in there. Wasn't a fan of the fourth one even when I was watching the movie for the first time, but it grew on me. Lockdown's suite from the EP is the nicest new theme outside of the themes from the first one. Still not a fan of whatever the hell Imagine Dragons contributed especially the vocal solos. Overall, after the first one there was little creativity in the series (musically speaking) but it's an interesting listen nonetheless.

Groupers or gropers are fish of any of a number of genera in the subfamily Epinephelinae of the family Serranidae, in the order Perciformes. Not all serranids are called groupers; the family also includes the sea basses.

Because it's seriously annoying. You're acting like the music is going to totally change if it's lossless. I'm sorry but it makes NO sense to me. I use lossless because I don't trust MP3 rips online, I don't know the source. If it's true lossless I can do what I want with it, and I know it's from a trusted source. A lot of public torrent sites MP3 rips are all transcoded, that's why I go for either the iTunes purchased version or a true lossless source, and I check them. Some of the stuff I have downloaded is transcoded, and that's when the quality is really altered.

I've meticulously calculated my awakening in Karachi to the "Supervillain Theme" followed by "Accordion" and "Meat Grinder" from Madvillainy for customs. I kid you not I just now finished importing the whole album from CD. "2001" is essential rap, though I didn't quite enjoy Dre's first album or the released singles from the forever-delayed Detox. Kush was very poor, I Need A Doctor less so, but it's no wonder he scrapped them. There used to be a time when "Detox" was hailed in the same light as the Holy Grail but the delays are so significant now that I don't think he should even try releasing. He's obviously too distracted to care about finesse and it would add very little to what is being done for rap by other producers (especially underground).

I honestly don't want to make an argument out of this, but I recall you saying you were going to buy an FYC from FunnyML and ended up not, because you wanted him to share it with you for free, instead of paying for it which you initially said you were going to do. How does that make sense? I also have really never seen any shares by you recently, and I guess that's why I am upset with all these requests for lossless uploads. But you can ask and do as you please, so I can't really make you stop requesting. So, I am going to end this, I think I need to leave this place, honestly. Lol.

YES, oh my God, the nostalgia is real. HP3 is probably the greatest theme I've ever heard for a video game. EVER. Don't you love it? The choir is amazing.

Definitely. I would pause the game forever just to listen to it as a kid.
I think my favorite was Chamber of Secrets though, in terms of both gameplay and score.

Yeah, the snails were great fun. But HP1 music is probably my favorite. The music when fighting with Draco was amazing...

I have the scores to the first two PC games ripped if you want 'em.

I have Abbey's rip, although I think Abbey is a guy...lol. They posted them here somewhere. I have been looking for a complete soundtrack PC mixed with PS1 music, they're vastly different. Jeremy probably composed hours of music for the individual games. I think, when John Williams dies, Soule needs to take over for Star Wars. His HP music from the early 2000s proves that. Similar style.
TheSkeletonMan939
06-19-2015, 08:19 PM
For some reason the console versions have the same music, but they sound... different. More orchestrated. Maybe it's mixed differently or maybe the PC versions use demos or something. Or maybe it's my imagination.
I think Soule's work for HP had a more magical atmosphere than Williams's, or any of the film composers, honestly.
Lockdown
06-19-2015, 08:25 PM
PC is way more orchestrated, because I think you can fit more on those discs, because the content needed to be downloaded to the HD. PS1 music is usually mono, because they have to have room for all of the different language dialogue.

I had a funny thought reading people calling me Ponyo (I like it, there's reasons behind my name) so I remembered about the movie the name originally came from and all the story, and I decided to grab on my HDD, to my STUDIO GHIBLI COLLECTION folder and listened to the soundtrack of Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea), right now at this moment, specially Mother Sea by Mazako Hiyashi.
I like Studio Ghibli, by the way, which I must mention, celebrated its 30th anniversary this week!

Sorry for isolating myself and not allowing PMs or anything and basically disappearing without telling any of you. Many of you might not care to know the truth, but I am currently in a state of severe depression, because the past two years I have experienced many hardships in my life and I've even tried to commit suicide... and it made me into someone who I never wanted to become. I really miss the old happy self I used to be, but I don't know if I will be able to return to my original state. If you care, please bear with me, as I have never meant to hurt any of you, I have just become very short tempered and rude. I am extremely sorry if I had hurt anyone on here, because I would feel bad if I did.
Hopefully someday, I will be happy again, because I hate seeing myself like this, I've been gaining weight, not really caring how I look, being rude to my family members, etc..and it's not me.
I know that this is very personal to post on a Forum to a bunch of people that I have never even seen the faces of, and I'm sure some of you dislike me and might not even care to read this or care about how I'm doing at all, but I felt at least all of the people that I consider friends here deserved to know, and I am really not looking for attention in this post. I just want my friends here that are worried about me, that I will hopefully be okay.
Thank you for caring about me. It means the world to me to know that I have support from a wonderful community like you.
Also, recently I have been very sleep deprived, (it's 4:49 A.M. here) and that probably has something to do with having late thoughts at night and just being extremely depressed. Hopefully this horrible phase of my life will end. I've been praying it will.
