... Carl Stalling?
I think he's easily the most well-known name in Looney Tunes musical canon.
Then again he wrote a new score for each episode (I think) so what you're thinking of could easily be some sort of library music.
Got to be Library Music, i just now heard it again in the Ren & Stimpy Episode i am watching, S02E05 - Mad Dog Hoek,
that's what prompted me to ask just now...
Let's see if IMDB can help...

Anybody know the Name and the Composer of that one Track that always get's played
in early Looney Toons and other Cartoons when the Scene is taking Place in a Factory,
when there's an Assembly line onscreen for Example ? You know the One i mean.
Everytime i hear it i am asking myself who made it and what's it's Name... Quite maddening.

That's it, the Part at 1:20 i mean, always thought it was another Track, since it sounds different from the
Beginning of thte Tune. That's what short Attention Spans will get you...
On a related Note, i really need to find someone with Acess to www.apmmusic.com

Never could get through this album or any of its expansions. Always found my ears being worn down by the muddy sound and exaggerated bass. So…I threw this one into Audition and applied filters to favour clarity over rumbling.
Actually got through it while coming up with the cover.
Pity the score ends with the song, because I just abhor this sort of Top 40 vocalization style.

Same reason I can't listen to all of Gladiator.
I don't care how accomplished or special Lisa Gerard is, I'm just tired of everything sounding angelic and soft like a soft penis.
So many scores overdo the vocals just to try win an academy award. :/

The audio quality is one of the biggest problems with my film mix. So many of the cues that I needed were mono MP3, and even a deaf person can tell how bad they sound. But I used them, cause that's how they came and I needed them.

The score for The Fugitive is a cacophony of sounds, really over-the-top in the sound mix of the film. The film itself is great - I too am guilty of watching it dozens of times in those VHS / catch-it-on-TV days as well, but it's been at least 10 years or so since watching either movie.
Sequel is okay, but nowhere near as good, but that one theme (reused as an action motif in "Star Trek Insurrection", which is why I can only stomach it in that score since the remainder of the Insurrection score is so beautiful) just pisses me off when I hear it, just as the rest of the US Marshals score does.

The worst*, most amateurish thing I've heard so far this year: apparently the new Star Trek: Discovery (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrnR5zAJC_g) theme. Just listen to how it desperately avoid's Goldsmith's Voyager theme early on and then devolves into a themeless mire of aimless chords.
* It's so bad even Mickey could have come up with something approximating coherent thought.
Compare it to this though, Carl Vine's "Celebrare Celeberrime" (
https://mega.nz/#!gptAmB7a!bqC9qUGuAS_RO6h_bs0TM06B-DZ7sv5Y35j3d1U_Pcw) (5:08 mins). You can skip the lead in if you want and start at around 2:32. It even includes bongo like percussion. And then at 3:38 he hits it out of the Trekkin park.

Any hopes I had for the show died when Bryan Fuller left. Paramount has no idea what to do with Star Trek since Nicholas Meyer was de facto running it. Paramount turned the franchise into Star Wars-lite.
Maybe we see a change of direction now that the current CEO is stepping down.

Michael Giacchino - End Creditouilles
I'm not saying Giacchino is not talented, but obviously.. when he is faced with too many mainstream projects, this guy just.. becomes too much overworked and kinda phones in. It's hard to believe the same guy who did Incredibles, Ratatouille, etc did the shit that is Rogue One..

Yeah, and you'd be surprised just how similar John Williams Star Wars music is to Giacchino's Star Wars contribution..
TheSkeletonMan939
02-20-2017, 03:47 PM
I don't think so. Just about anytime Giacchino tried to directly emulate Williams, he goofed. His timing on the Imperial March was nothing less than revolting. I'll never understand why he butchered the main title theme. He did a great job with the 3rd act battle music though.

Bzzz…WRONG.
Mickey is a rank amateur in comparison, and doesn't even come close to being in the same league as Williams, whether based on level of education, experience, creativity or just simply raw talent.

I don't hate Giacchino, there's some scores of him I like, it's just.. lately, his overexposition and overworking isn't making him compose good music, it's like he's uninspired.

Phantasm
woah woah woah.
You can't bring in animation against live action.
TDKR is a lot of fun. It's a good way to wrap up the trilogy, compared the mishap that Burton started.
At least we have a constant Christian Bale instead of going through others and not ever wrapping things up.
TDK is fantastic. Really shows the consequences of the Batman just being.
Compared to BB, TDK is like The Matrix Reloaded to the Matrix. A completely different vibe and direction but still kicks ass.
Watch BB for the best origin story, watch TDK for the best development story, watch TDKR for the best action and finale story.
The end of BB sums up the franchise nicely:
Jim Gordon: What about escalation?
Batman: Escalation?
Jim Gordon: We start carrying semi-automatics, they buy automatics. We start wearing Kevlar, they buy armor piercing rounds.
That line was a foreshadowing on the franchise. The Joker card was, too, but that's a given.
Things only have to get bigger after the first movie for a superhero movie.
If this was a thriller, things can stay the same but with more mysteries.
The scale is always the same for franchises.
What's nice about Nolan is that he employs a lot of practical effects. I loved it the minute I saw it in Batman Begins.
TheSkeletonMan939
02-21-2017, 10:31 PM
Sounds fun in that sense!
People like to say that Nolan's trilogy is the "thinking man's" superhero film when in reality it's the same hooblah as always. It's still capeshit. It's just more aesthetic.

Why not? I'm talking about in terms of character depth. The inherent difference of the mediums doesn't quite affect that.
Bruce and Batman were static in TDK. Maybe that base was covered in BB though. Rachel was a joke. Harvey... they did Harvey pretty well. And I don't care at all for Commissioner Oldman.

Why not? I'm talking about in terms of character depth. The inherent difference of the mediums doesn't quite affect that.
Phantasm has a wider scope in that it evolves around the Animated Series as apposed to the most recent film features which are largely standalones.
The feature films today have some continuity in that they have post-credit scenes hinting at the sequel.
In animation you can get the exact response you want from the artist. They can make the perfect face in that they don't need to recast.
Val Kilmer could not make a face other than any one screenshot you can find of him as Bruce Wayne. He's very monotonous as a facial actor in BF.
Clooney has faces, but it's no different than any other role he's played. It's George Clooney playing George Clooney.
Keaton was the only three dimensional actor in the early years before it got rebooted by Nolan.
For the animations, we can mostly measure in terms of voice acting and animation "style".
I cannot give into the cheap CG animation they released recently that a lot of fans are saying have the best story.
But the animation looks worse than the old CG series "ReBoot". And ReBoot was regarded as "next level" when it first came out YEARS ago.
I'm finding a pattern in cheap CG animation.
Transformers fans say the Beast Wars show was the best incarnation as it had a much better story, but the animation in that was just as horrid as the recent Batman CG series.

I know, and I try to be fair in that regard when thinking of Phantasm in comparison to other Batman films.
The MotP Joker and TDK Joker, there's no comparison to be made. They're too very different interpretations who succeed on their own merits. Besides, Mark Hamill's Joker wasn't the main villain in Phantasm. Little character to him, just evil laughter.
Re: Beast Wars - true that!
I heard about how great it was and tried to check it out on YouTube, but - my eyes! The CG in that is terrible! Call me shallow, but it kinda deterred me. :erm:

That indeed is the case:
"During the initial development stages of the film, Pixar revisited their work from the original Toy Story and found that, although they could open the old computer files for the animated 3D models, error messages prevented them from editing the files. This necessitated recreating the models from scratch."
It would be too much much effort and a waste of time to try and re-do the first two films from scratch to match up. Thus, it's better to leave them as is.
Also, what revisions to Indiana Jones? This is news to me.

This sounds fucking magnificent! Mahito Yokota is seriously good for the orchestra goodness in Nintendo games (with a daze of Ryo Nagamatsu, too) In fact, it's been said Ryo Nagamatsu wanted the Ocarina of Time 3D soundtrack to be fully orchestrated, but Koji Kondo and Miyamoto shot the idea down. Now while I understand why, I supose they really wanted to make the remake as close as the original as possible, I think Nintendo should really pursue full, movie-like orchestrated score anywhere possible, specially Zelda that fits the scale. I swear a full Ocarina of Time score with live instruments would've been gorgeous.. if they sounded just a bit like this.

First 3 episodes of Legion.
On the plus side: plaudits to the design teams, both visual and audio. A welcome change of pace from the dull, low-rent aesthetic Marvel has been doling out. Also, giving Jean Smart's character a substantial role; Smart being the strongest performer amongst the cast.
On the not so plus side: Unlike apparently most others, I'm not as taken with Stevens performance which, so far, mostly seems to comprise a series of over-rehearsed ticks. I'm also not at all interested in his character's C-story arc with an off the shelf Pixie Dream Girl.
On the negative side: At 3 eps in it already feels like it's dragging its feet revealing David's backstory. In other words, it's teetering on boring me.

Yeah those are good ones too.
I love every role he plays.
I haven't watched Near Dark yet. I keep wanting to, but I forget to check which version is best out there.
I think there's a remaster? Or there is but it's not Director's Cut or something.
True Lies is on the list for the week.
Frailty was good for a thriller. I really enjoyed that one. I'm glad he got to direct in his time.
It's a heartcrushing blow. :(

Russo's musical approach is quite ambitious, demonstrating the sort of creativity once widely heard in television productions during the 60s and 70s. He toys with 70's influenced pop, art music techniques (i.e. avant-garde instrumental/tape/sfx manipulation, etc.) and minimalist electronics out of the John Carpenter/Tangerine Dream playbook. The only obvious RCP ingredient is the BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM he deploys in the low strings.
I haven't listened to the stand-alone album yet, but in ep, Russo successfully complements the stylized visuals and overt horror elements.

Sounds fun. Maybe I'll give it a try.
Whenever I turn on the TV I feel like I'm constantly bombarded by relentlessly grinding synth. Sometimes it's done well, like in Batman Beyond and The Winter Soldier, but other times... blech. You could probably write a computer program that 'composes' sound design like that (and get better results). Glad to hear Legion is different.

It's one of those movies that fell through the cracks. I'm hoping Synapse or Scream Factory or some boutique house will do a proper remaster. (The blu ray released some years back was apparently awful, judging from the reviews. You're probably better off watching the DVD.)
But its well worth your time. Besides reuniting half the crew from Aliens the film tears into the whole "it's cool to be a vampire" trope. I'd recommend making a double feature of Lost Boys & Near Dark. The first film is the fantasy of being a vampire and the second is the fantasy brought down to Earth.
Paxton, as Severin, gets some of the film's best one liners.

Damn that sounds like a fun lineup.
I love The Lost Boys.
So far, knock on wood, there's been no major box office remake.
Synapse is supposedly still working on a remaster for Suspiria.
That was years ago when they posted screenshots of what they're doing.
Apparently, the movie has some very problematic shots that didn't turn out so well so they have to do extra work on some scenes just to make sure they don't wreck it.
