"Through the Wormhole" season 1, episode 1.

I kind of just skimmed it once it started going into too much details how the universe is like an Easy Bake Oven.
I tried skimming parts of the second episode.

Nope.

It's just a random collage of philosophical analogies that can subtitute fortune cookies.
All the cutesie little analogies they build up to, are things you'd expect to use a social drinking parties and deliver them with a Bill Paxton grin and nod (not the loveable Bill Paxton (Twister), but the real douchy Bill Paxton where he likes to smile and nod until you get it and give him an orgasm of "oooh that's so clever!").

The writing to get from point A to point Z is really just a messy, incoherent trip through a schizo's map of what's "tangeable" only to a schizo.

Watching this show is more for blondes who take psychology in college just to "feel smart".
I feel bad for Morgan Freeman though. But, a job is a job, I guess. You either get busy living or get busy dying.

 from the looks of this show running, I guess he opted for the latter.

Listening to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (IMAX version) in the background with the center channel muted.

It is freaking me out! The music is going all nicely with general sfx going off, like cars, planes, etc.
But then all of a sudden when they get to their first Decepticon, Scavenger, the sfx of him breaking out just blares unexpectedly.

You'd think you know the movie and know when to expect the surrounding channels to blare, but nope.

You get too into the music and minor sfx that you forget everything in the center channel and get surprised by major sfx that bleed into the surround sound channels.

It is really cool, however, for every other aspect of the sfx for the bots.
The slow motion scenes, the transformations, the subtle movements. The sound design is just ear-tingly. :awsm:

... I just hope they didn't ruin the end credits in this one with more commercial music "from and inspired by". :notgood:

EDIT: The movie also way more tolerable with Sam's voice muted.

Into The Woods (vocal deluxe OST, minus the score tracks; not the instrumental iTunes).

It's just so catchy and the symphonic upgrade over the original Broadway recording from 1880 is a nice touch.
One of the things I love about musical adaptations to film is the music upgrade.

I notice a lot of musicals will add electric guitars to their 25th Anniversary.

Kind of wish they'd do 2 versions: one for todays' children and one for old-school people but with all the upgraded music sans Johnny Marr. (I don't know who, but if I want to hear a metal version of the musical, I'd go to youtube where that one guy does all the awesome metal covers).

Mission Impossible franchise (films).

Mostly all of them suck for end credits. Commericialized music and crap.
Some stupid variations on the theme that doesn't need to be remixed.

The first film has a minute of Elfman's score.
The opening can be edited, the Paramount logo sequence.

I think for all of them, the main titles (although brief) can be edited, too.

Fred Durst can suck it.

I've been listening to Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix OST. it's fascinating to say, but there's some rather simple themes that are sufficiently different from the variations that precede it (though the soundtrack gets a bit predictable) the ones that have stood out to me so far (apart from the natural ones like the beginning songs, and Organisation XIII themes) are "Cloud chasers" and "floating in bliss" though I can't remember where these fit in the game progression.

I also got a fit for OWA. To be fair, i think Sephiroth gets a bit of flack here. Why can't he just be an evil guy that is somewhat scitz about Cloud? I think he plays the part perfectly with His wanting to destroy everything.

And "Swim this Way" i'm glad they put that in there.

Hello, everyone...

This is my first actual post in any part of the forum, so I hope you will bear with me. This is a really great site and I really enjoy all the wonderful music very much.
Lately I have been listening to a great deal of Italian spaghetti western and giallo soundtracks of the '60's and '70's...as for viewing, I'm currently revisiting my collections
of Japanese SF and horror films and Mexican horror films of the '50's and '60's.

Just out of curiosity: are there any soundtracks extant from these Mexican horror films such as "El Vampiro" or "The Brainiac"? I would be very interested in that.

I also enjoy classic science fiction and horror films from the silents through the '70's, both high quality and 'cheesy' and their accompanying scores...and classic TV
series and their soundtracks as well, in all genres, from all countries.

Thank you for this opportunity to write and please keep up the wonderful work. :)

There's already GER and EUR releases. And I think ones not labeled are USA releases.
ISO images and remuxes so far. Not seen any encodes yet.

But all screenshots show IMAX scenes in 1.78:1 instead of 2.35:1.

Note that run times won't indicate really if they're theatrical or IMAX theatrical with the different run times.
International releases have different logos in the beginning, and some times 24fps and not 23.976fps.

It's not currently, but I finally watched Interstellar for the first time last night. Man, it was good! I'd already listened to the score a couple times through, so I thought that I had a pretty good idea of where the film would go musically, but really the score is best listened to as a complement to the film, as opposed to so many others where removing the music really doesn't change much. The film adds so much more depth to the score and vice versa.

I was a little confused when 23 years passed while on Miller's planet, since 7 years passed per hour and it didn't seem like they were on it for very much time at all... but maybe they rode the wave for a while.

I admit there were a couple instances where I had to check the runtime - that movie is long! - but ultimately I was more than impressed by it. Definitely want to see it again soon.

The first half is much better since it's a story.

It would be better if it was just him growing up with his brother.
The family story was sweet and nice.
Keep the POW story 5 minutes then follow up with him getting married.

Who the hell was she? I don't care who he married.
Was she one of the women he was staring from under the bleachers?

The other guy who survived and got sent to another camp, there was no reunion of the two.

I got impatient and jumped ahead (warp factor 9) straight to Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Watched it really fricken loud! Quite a sight to behold.
Absolutely amazing as a Star Trek story and introduction to the film franchise.
I don't get the heavy criticism it received.
It felt more like a 2 hour episode.

Inside V'ger, the atmospheric sounds are bombastically loud. Not nearly as advanced a sound design if it were remade today, but it's loud enough to immerse you in the very same sking as the landing party.

An incredible machine with incredibly frightening designs.

It was so intense in the last half hour of the film. I've never felt so exhilerated since I watched First Contact in theaters.

As long as several scenes were, I think they really helped produce the eerie setting that the Enterprise (and, as usual, humanity) was facing.
The gravity of the mission never felt so apocalyptic and fragile.

It was really damn good to hear Goldsmith's themes come to life in the first 10 minutes of the film.
 I got so emotional seeing the revised Enterprise for the first time.
I can only imagine seeing this film in theaters and being equally compromised in all emotional facilities.

Now I can't wait to go through the rest of the films.
And the series.

EDIT: I should also note that I had watched the movie in the usual manner I watch most things today: interpolated to 48fps and utilizing ChromaDepth 3D (an indirect 3D manufactured display through appropriate glasses only; as in, not software/hardware converted 3D).

For an old film with different technology for special effects, I have to say that the ChromaDepth viewing was quite impressive and seemed to have served as a greater vessel of 3D viewing than most conventional 3D conversion methods today.
It was not entirely in the sense of usual depth perception like newer films, but more like old-styled anaglyph 3D where details were layered between depths.
All V'ger shots were extremely effective in utilizing the ChromaDepth 3D viewing, given they largely encompassed a blue atmosphere (where ChromaDepth works on separating by color, from Red to Blue).

Now I can't wait to go through the rest of the films.

You're in for one hell of a ride! The next three are brilliantly crafted stories... though you should watch "Space Seed" from TOS before watching the second film.

Raconte-moi une histoire is amazing. Every time. It's weird and shouldn't really work here but somehow it does. That kid is just magic.

And of course all the others are awesome too.
I could listen to Midnight City forever.

Oh and keeping in spirit of the thread, listening now, to some deadmau5, "The Veldt".

I meant to respond to this days ago. Raconte-Moi Une Histoire is one of the best tracks on the album. I thought it was weird the first few times I listened to it, but now I love it. The little girl is Zelly Meldal-Johnsen. She's the album's producer, Justin Meldal-Johnsen. And believe it or not, she showed up on stage to perform the song that night at The Hollywood Bowl. It was so awesome. After she did her part, she ran around on stage to each member of the band and danced around with them. Now I'm not nuts about kids nor am I one to speak fondly of them, but it was adorable. And later that night Susanne Sundfr even showed up to perform Oblivion. It was an incredible concert.

I do like Midnight City and the crowd went nuts as soon as it started, but it's a little overrated to me. The radio has butchered it to death along with Reunion. My favorites are Intro, Wait, Raconte-Moi Une Histoire, My Tears Are Becoming A Sea, Another Wave from You, Steve McQueen, Echoes of Mine and of course, Outro.

And also in keeping with the spirit of the thread, listening to Interstellar on my newly iOS 8.3-updated iPhone 6 :D

Listening to my Rocky Balboa score BRrip... I still can't get over how 95% of the dialogue and SFX were isolated in the center channel. :D

Sorely disappointed with most of The Final Frontier.
Shatner cannot direct.

The dramatic part with McCoy and his father and the birth of Spock were nice scenes.
The camping scene were nice.
But the humor was too quickly placed in the script and the delivery far worse.
Felt like Shatner was trapped in the 60's TV set.

Loved 3, 4, and 6, however.
2 was always beloved.

I skimmed through Generations as I have seen it numerous times along with First Contact and Nemesis.
Insurrection is the one I have seen the least of the TNG franchise.

Yet, I right after The Voyage Home, I should have started watching TNG TV series so when I get to Generations, it'll be more fluid.
Like how Stargate worked out if you planned it right.

Back to finish off season 3 of TOS and catch up on the pilot that was never included in the packs that I grabbed.

And give the TAS a fun watch.

Binge-ed The Killing in its entirety and the last couple of Archers (god, I love that show). Followed by the finale for Better Call Saul and the first few episodes of Penny Dreadful (it gets better after the pilot). Then quite recently, good ol' Jensen returned formally.

Listening to the Deus Ex: Human Revolution complete soundtrack.

Oh wow! I did not know that.
(or it's a very exciting typo)

Is there a recording of this? Sounds fun.

I like Midnight City as well but I agree, it's way too overused in the media.

Watching The Song Of The South DVD.

We used to watch that as kids. My word, I haven't seen that film in a long, long time.

I always saw a brief part of it - "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" - on an old VHS tape full of Disney Sing-a-long songs when I was a kid. Never saw the film in its entirety since it's never been released in full on home video.

Watching the HD-DVD of The Mummy (1999).
The HDDVD is supposedly superior to the BD transfer, which the BD apparently got heavy DNR. No surprise.

The Mummy Returns also got heavy DNR and no fix on bluray.
Got the HD-DVD of that, as well.

The Mummy 3 is okay on BD, though. There's no major concern of DNR in that one.
I imagine since it was made just yesterday and not 50 years ago like the first two, it's easier to transfer to BD by "studio standards".

since it's never been released in full on home video.

Because there's a lot of controversey over it. It's like Mel Gibson created it.
Song of the South - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_of_the_South#Controversies)

Disney has another controversial release from that era.
Some documentary about animals.

White Wilderness (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Wilderness_%28film%29#Controversy)
They kidnapped lemmings from their natural habitat and forced them off a cliff to kill them off start the now-believed concept that lemmings are suicidal.
I don't know about the video game, but I think it might be mocking Disney and perpetuating the lemmings/suicide myth just to laugh at Disney.

Not exactly true I still have the Japanese LaserDisc edition, albeit with subtitles during the songs.
