Poofed = went poof

No device can get acess to it. It recognizes it, the HDD physically (as in, the disc rolling, the light flashing) still works, it's just no device can get access to it. It's like damaged or something I guess.

it does work, but not for the reasons you want it to.

I've lost 2 HDD externals and nothing can bring them back.

If you can't see it in the PC anywhere as a drive, then it's gone for good.
If you can find a company that recovers harddrives, they'll use the same FBI forensics technology to get what they can off a drive.
But you're looking at anywhere from 2K-5K dollars, in whatever currency. They ship them out to the only facility that has them.

I've spent days in denial and slowly preparing myself to bury the externals.

No owner should ever outlive their technology, but it happens far too often in this world.

It's there. It appears in my PC as Disc and the letter, all blank without saying the name or how many Gbs it has, it just CANNOT acess to it. It has not gone completely DONE, because the disc still works, the light still flashes. Even it makes a sound when I plug it in. It just has some sort of minor damage that I must fix. That it just cannot acess to the disk. Not only my PC, but others, and my Blu-ray. Some minor damage has been done and I'm trying to recover it. I don't think it is a damage that can't be repaired, or means goodbye to everything I had

"CAN'T ACCESS X:. The structure of the disc is damaged or unreadable" it's the type of error it gives. I tried chsfksl or whatever in the cmd, but since Windows can't acess to what's inside the drive, it doesn't work. So HDD Regerator is my last hope for the program to fully scan my HDD, find the problem and try to fix it.

If it works trying to figure out what happened, I think it all originates in plugging in and out problems. Before this, the HDD did plug out on me a few times, all of the sudden. And I tend to eject it by hand and not by computer (eject buton which is safer.)

If you can at least see the drive, then HHD Regenerator should be able to fix whatever's wrong.

The master boot could just be gone for some reason, which case recovering a lost partition would work.
I've had that happen once.

The process can take a long time so make sure no one turns off the power while it's doing the recovery.

I'm afraid I don't have any backup done to the HDD, if that's what you mean by partitioning.. but for the next HDD I have, I'm gonna do back ups just in case.. if I come out fine out of this with all my files intact, I don't want this to ever happen again. I'm more worried about the HDD plugging itself out randomly than the power, power's usually fine.

No, the external is a partition.

Sometimes the partition (that holds all your data) will just disappear.

All some recovery software (HDD Regenerator) will have to do is recover the lost partition.

C:\ drive is its own partition.
D:\ drive is its own partition.

Optical disc drives for CD/DVD/BD are not partitions. They're just drives that read partitioned data on the inserted discs.

Most common cause would be premature unplugging, however it may happen.

For all external drives, set them to "Quick Removal" so that if it does get unplugged, you won't lose as much data.
Just whatever happens to be copied to the drive needs to be copied again.

PonyoBellanote
08-12-2016, 07:43 PM
I know of other recovery programs - but what I need is my HDD to go back to how it was, to be fixed. I don't have any other HDD or space in them to slowly tediously recover what I had with a program file by file and then transfering.

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ

Concept is beyond your comprehension.

Just scan for "bad or lost partition".
Before doing full drive scans.

All recovery software should have that and that should be the first thing done.
It may be so simple as recovering a lost partition.

After that doesn't work, then set it overnight to scan the whole drive.

Going to finish watching Raiders in 35mm.

Then I guess I'll watch Crystal Skull after. Marion, you know.
I read the wiki on what happened with them but it sounds silly and stupid when you read it in your head.

I can't remember CS very well, except for the X-Files/Fargo ending.

But I imagine they were really dismissive about Marion's history and just ran through dialogue to get the movie going.

Like they did with The Force Awakens.
Carrie Fisher could have had just a 1 minute cameo with everything she did.
All she had to do was stand there and give orders out like the OT.
It was no big deal for them to reunite, Chewbacca got the shaft, and she has no emotions.

Speaking of which, there's a fan-edit out there that I'm going to watch soon: "Restructured".
Supposedly it fixes a lot of things about the movie (what they can work with only, unrealistic statements like going back in time and stopping the movie don't have any substance).

HDD Regenerator does not give me a "just scan for bad or lost partition" option.. just scan and repair, scan but do not repair (show bad sectors), regenerate all sectors in a range (even if not bad)

Also, this warning comes before the cmd of HDD Regenerator starts. What should I do about this..?

AHCI is the modern convention.
Switching to something else shouldn't be an issue.
IE, that's not the problem and HDDR being ancient is the problem as it shouldn't be having problems with AHCI.
You can google that and everyone else will say that.

IIRC, HDD Regenerator is really old and no longer developed.
it's a lot more limited than I remember.

I'd look into something like EaseUS Data Recovery (http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/free-data-recovery-software.htm).
If you know where to look, you can get a cracked Pro version.
They definitely have check for bad/lost partition.

It looks like the same SD master as the DVD.

But the rip wasn't done right and could use a re-rip with a lot of lossless intermediate files.

At this point, the DVD is much better.

Deep Scan takes hours, that's true, but so far it's found.. like 95 or 99% of my stuff. Which means it's there in the HDD, just something keeps anything to enter to it.

Where is the partition option in this program?

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ
08-12-2016, 10:53 PM
Where is the partition option in this program?

in HDD Regenerator? Nowhere.
It's too old to have any sort of feature.

EaseUS, if you spent time to look around, should have something for lost/deleted partition.
You probably just did a scan. Which is not what I said to do.

They made a freeware tool to make things more simply:
http://www.easeus.com/resource/partition-recovery.htm

It requires reading, so go slow.

Point being, HHDR is shit.
Your files are still recoverable, so it's likely a lost partition.
You don't need to know what exactly that means, except you can do with other software but you really need to put in extra effort.
Forget what you learned because it's not right.
From the sounds of it, you know nothing about data recovery.

I just simply want to fix my HDD how it was before. I know it's possible, but dunno exactly atm HOW. I don't want to recover the files all one by one somewhere and then pass it to the HDD. I just want to fix it, to regain acess to it again everywhere else.

It's available in teh Free version.

They even created a new tool just for that.

And everything you need to know is in here:

I'm aware of how badly received the books are, but I still enjoyed A&D, mostly for how insane the last act was. Never bothered with DaVinci though, considering it seemed like a carbon copy of the previous books from what I had sampled.

organized religion

Wow. The first movie had nothing like that.
Except orders of wizards and assassins.

The movie really had nothing. Just another scifi/fantasy adventure to use CG.
It looked like just every other movie of its genre.
Nothing compelling or in-depth.

I would not have pegged TGC to have any religious themes.
Just magic. Not Wiccan nor Pagan witches.
The witches in the movie were largely just props to the story. No substance or meaning.
It doesn't matter that they have powers or where the powers come from. They were there just for the Deathly Hallows super fight.

I can see why it didn't get greenlit for any sequels.

And wasn't Narnia associated with religion in some fashion?

It was, but it's a whole different thing than The Nothern Lights trilogy.

Narnia's got propagandish references. I've been told God himself appears in the end of the last book and Aslan says in a book, "In Earth you know me as other name" (Jesus)

Why is Hell such a hard bargain for movies?

In the 90's, it was largely poor CG all stemming from the same graphic designers as The Lawnmower Man.
"Hideaway".

Spawn was cartoony fun. But still needed a lot more work. It was a lot more like a music video / game.
On that note of whacky fun, Highway To Hell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSWv6392VJw) was absolute uncanny fun.
Another fun example of Hell is Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpKHSHrtRHc). :erm: That rabbit stuck with me for a long time... And granny... motherofgod

What Dreams May Come had a stage-opera theme which was neat. It was very practical in terms of effects.

I can't stand South Park.

Futurama had a fun depiction. All that music.

All Dogs Go To Heaven (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWUNnHt2N-E) had an awesome depiction.

Constantine was very neat.
The game is super fun because you get to explore it longer.

Event Horizon is horrifying. Very brief but it really served its purpose and scared the living shit out of me when it first came out.
I hate space. But love it. It's just as terrifying as exploring the deepest oceans on Earth.

Hellbound: Hellraiser II was neat. Nice sound design. Fancy light house.

Paul W.S. Anderson did good with what he had.

But, I'd love to find out it's getting remastered with an extended cut.
There's a few deleted scenes, which wouldn't hurt the film, iirc.

Of course. The show would've still been fine with it's psychodrama and nonsense. It'll still be famous that way, if lacking an aspect

The Asuka "mind rape" sequence is probably one of the best things I've seen. I was quite the trip, and one that I didn't think I would ever need, but did so anyway.

I will say that the English dub did do a goof in one part. The bit where Asuka is repeatly imagining herself saying the most superficial things while saying it's not her was supposed to be voiced from the other female VAs, since it's supposed to represent what she thinks the other women in the show think of her. The english dub? All Tiffany Grant. It makes less sense, but you could just say it's her going crazy.

Wrong video?

All joking aside, I feel Zimmer works better in small doses really. I never often listen to a full score of his. Mission Impossible 2? Only ever Injection and the cheesy Limp Bizkit instrumental of the MI theme. The Dark Knight? Only ever the first cue in DAK's set and 103BPM Action Ice Theme. TASM2? The Electro stuff and Spidey's theme.

I still think Begins is legitamately good score, though that might be JNH more really.

There's plenty I enjoy about the trilogy.

JNH brings a great element that keeps it grounded.
For 3, and no JNH, it's full balls out, everythign on the table.

The prologue for each movie is spectacular.
:erm: What's the prologue for BB again?? I know there's bats... the logo made of bats... then... "Rachel! Let me see it!" "Iiiiii found it." "Finder's keepers!"
And then he karma shows him the pit where the bats terrify him and adult Bruce wakes up in the prison.
Yes, good prologue.

BB prologue I think is mostly JNH.

Joker's theme in the prologue for TDK is the best track.

Correct. One cue does not define an entire score. Even if it contains the main theme.

I'll add on and say that I agree.

A perfect example would be that if I had only listened to "Main Theme" of Michael Giacchino's score to Secret Weapons Over Normandy, and developed my opinion based solely on that track, I'd have never know about or listened to my absolute favorite cue from the score, "Zauara (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC_IffOCqQU)", amongst the other cues of the score that are actually better than the main theme itself.

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ

Looking at ISWY?, it seems the WW trailer uses the second.... "chorus" of the screeching cello from ISWY?.

Because it starts with the low segments that repeat.

I wish I knew music enough to say what parts of music are.

It's background strumming to set a very low-pace. Very linear in that it doesn't do much else until the screeching cello starts.
It's ambience until the cello arrives.
That part.

That's how the trailer does it.
Second part...

This part. This is what the WW trailer uses, so I used for the ringtone.

But, I could make a rip to use the very start where the cello is absolutely a solo without the background music.

The second "chorus" of the music higher and more action packed so that's probably why they used it for the trailer.
Also the repetitive foundation to play behind the dialogue for the secretary clip.

If we were all in person, I'd do my best to imitate the music by making my own noises.

I think screech is apt.
Because when I immitate the cello, it sounds like an irritated cat.

The small repetitive part that sets up for the action part, that sounds a lot more like ambience, like you can loop it as you need it if you're doing a custom edit for video editing, that's the part I don't know.
Ostinato? I don't know how loose that term can be.

The TV miniseries to IT is okay.
A trip down memory lane.

But this is one where the book definitely blows the production out of the water.

I wnt the book now.

Apparently, there's a huge mythos behind IT.

The book is excellent. At the time it was supposed to be King's final word and departure from the horror genre.

Glad that retirement was short lived.

A film version of It is underway. I hope the producers and director took a good, long, hard look at Stranger Things because that miniseries is the best thing King never wrote. Or Spielberg never put on film.

One of the best cues from the film. Culmination and emotion; this track gets it right nearly as "Princess Leia's Theme", but the smallest bit not there yet. It's so fucking close.

This score definitely grows on you. Some of my absolute favorite tracks are "Jameson Locke" and "Osiris Suite, Act 1". Love those so much.

Like Call of Duty: Ghosts' score, it seems like it's another one of those "not as bad as people were first saying" type of scores.

They did that to Megatron for the live-action movies to the Transformers.
MB felt Frank Welker wasn't right for the new look of Megatron so they got Hugo Weaving instead.
Also, Welker was too busy with so many other projects.

It's been super hard to get all the seasons together.
I've got seasons 4-8 downloaded in original DVD.
I bought season 1.
I lost seasons 2 and 3.

So I ended up grabbing a DVD encoded set from the PAL regions where it was converted back to 23.976 and audio converted, too.
Although it plays back nicely in 23.976, I thought it would have been a 29.97 production since it's a TV series from the old days (SD formats).

Before my parents divorced, my mom would have her friends over for card games.
And then even after when it was her turn to have us, she would have a lot of family over.

I'm used to shrilly voices.
To a limit.

I can't do a whole season marathon. It needs to be in parts.
Like how shows air weekly or so.

TBBT I can't stand anymore.
All the men have effeminate voices and the women have even higher pitches.

2 Broke Girls, as much as i love it, I can't stand that either.

The compression for every episode is deafening.

I think 2BG is the worst.
I still haven't finished season 5.

A million sound effects in the movie.

You would have to accept the sfx and not hope for anything.

Now at the episode where Morgan meets John Carrol Lynch's character.
"Here's Not Here" (the psychizophrenic episode).

The bluray looks infinitely better than any HDTV or iTunes rip.
The film grain has been given the bitrate it needs for it to shine all over the screen.

The guy who plays Morgan can play a black Mad Hatter. he plays crazy real good.

Works for family and friends who use console systems to play.

I just recently started adding music to it.
I added mostly "Various Artists" soundtracks to try appeal to most other audiences.
A few studio albums from mainstream artists whom I think will be appreciated to some degree.

But, this is what the Opus codec was meant for.
And it's superb.
Start with a lossles file, let Plex transcode it to Opus for the highest quality streaming. :smrt:

Wow, haven't seen that one yet. I'm still torn over whether I prefer Gibson over Rossi. I've seen so much of Rossi by now that I'm leaning toward him. Plus, it's Fat Joe! :D
I've seen the James Van Der Beek episodes (there were 2, actually) and they were creepy as F*#@.
Also the episodes with Dr. Spencer Reid and spoiler alert!! Maeve, his "over-the-phone girlfriend" who ends up dead, plus him then spiralling out of control were fantastic and some of the best writing I've seen in a while (not saying the rest was bad). Those episodes had me hooked. Come to think of it, Dr. Reid is pretty much my favorite character, always has been :)

Some of the serial killers on that show are almost pure genius and I always wonder why no one has ever copied their methods (except for the obligatory-mistake part) and gone on a killing spree? You'd think that the psychotically deranged out there would get a kick out of a television show 'manual' in a show like Criminal Minds, not to mention something like Dexter!

P.S.: Anyone seen the new Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders? I've taped an episode but still have to see it. I loved Gary Sinise in CSI: NY (and like him as an actor in general) so this was pretty much luring me in.

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ
08-19-2016, 08:46 AM
I love them all. I can't really pick a favorite.

But I definitely love Gibson the most.
He really has command presence.
It's going to suck to see him leave.

Trying to make my way up to current season/episodes.

So it's real fun to see everything again.

When they switched out some of the characters, it took some getting used to for the new people.
But they quickly grew on us.
They always get one episode that really proves their worth to the team.

not to mention something like Dexter!

In 2011, someone in Canada actually did use Dexter as bait to kill women.
He would lure them over and watch Dexter with them, then kill them, and then chop them up and put them in buckets or something.

He was from Edmonton in the province of Alberta.
Apsiring film maker, loved the books and tv series, killed someone and tried to kill another.
There used to be more articles and reports on it on how he tried to get rid of the first body.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Twitchell

Another incident happend in 2014.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/oct/02/teenager-steven-miles-murdered-girlfriend

The 2011 Alberta incident is actually when I started watching Dexter.
I wanted to know what the hype was about the show so I started borrowing it from the public library and fell in love with the show.
By 2011 season 5 was finished.
The library only had 4 seasons.

or maybe it was the 2009 incident...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexter_(TV_series)#Association_with_actual_crimes

That would be 3 seasons on DVD at the time....

I know there was a point I started watching it on DVD from the library and then started watching it live on TV...
And it was early on.
Before I even knew the series was half over.
Because it felt like I was with it for a long time.

Maybe I started watching when season 3 was airing and I grabbed the first two seasons from the library and then followed the news incidents as they happened...

I bet if I sign into the library site, it might have my history for me....

---------- Post added at 12:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:44 AM ----------

I mean, I love the show.

but not enough to actually kill someone on account of loving the show.
