Imagine a world without these guys

*waits for you to say you can imagine a world without Zimmer since everybody shits on him*

I wouldn't want to live in a world where they didn't exist. Maybe for you film music doesn't do it, but for many people on here, it gets us by.

Hans Zimmer is actually an interesting composer in my opinion. For example Dead Mans Chest, I love the blending of some electronic sounds with the practical movie music.
"I've Got My Eye On You" is a good example. My favourite songs including the latter, "Jack Sparrow" of course, "The Kraken", "Davy Jones", and "Tia Dalma". "Wheel of Fortune might be good too, but I don't know-
I will have to listen to it again.

I agree. My tastes go WAY beyond film music in contrast to the amount of film music I like (John Williams, POTC, etc) and everything else (video game music, classical)-
film music is the least of what I enjoy. I hope you guys don't think I am shitting on film music because I am not. I still really like it, there is just not as much film music I enjoy-
as much as I do everything else.

I think most people listen to as much "mainstream" music as they do film music. At least us, anyways. I drove 3 hours for work today, did't listen to film scores for all of that time. A few here and there, but mostly popular artists. U2, Zeppelin, Chromatics, Adele, Moby, Electric Youth and INXS were all played today. And I listen to The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon at least once a week. And then as much as I listen to all of that, I listen to Inception or Interstellar several nights a week. I'll fall asleep to either one, depends on my mood and what my workday will be like the next day.

The Mix Moving Along Nicely?

Yes. Rather nicely, I must say. Listening through my stereo to get the full listening experience. Found a few errors while going through, as well as some cues that are mixed differently in the film - and that's where Skelly is helping me by ripping the Blu-ray. There's not a whole lot left I need, only a handful of cues.

Here's what the entire project looks like, zoomed out:

Track 1 is the film audio, that's my guide. Tracks 2 and 3 are the cues from the sessions. Sometimes it doesn't quite sound right when you crossfade one cue with another, so you need to overlap it on the next track below.

Skelly is helping me by ripping the Blu-ray

Oh, btw:

eac3to has updated, significantly!

http://www.videohelp.com/software/eac3to
A lot of libDcaDec fixes (for DTS streams)
And a couple (major) issues for TrueHD/Atmos streams, too.

eac3to v3.31 released
* libDcaDec: updated to latest build
* libDcaDec: decoding only aborts on critical issues now
* libDcaDec: now reports warnings if something isn't 100% perfect
* libDcaDec: proper handling of clipped files (2nd pass etc)
* libDcaDec: proper handling of tracks that switch bitdepth 16 <-> 24
* fixed: TrueHD decoding -> AC3 encoding didn't work properly

eac3to v3.30 released
* libDcaDec is now default for all DTS tracks except XBR / low birate
* fixed: #310: Use ffmpeg like external encoder
* fixed: #312: Convert to wav with a big negative delay works incorrectly
* fixed: #314: 'edit' option adds one frame less than expected
* fixed: #345: Fails to decode Atmos track with no embedded AC3 track

The only GUI left in the world for eac3to has been updated, as well:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=145574
Although, mostly just updated for eac3to v3.30 since eac3to itself has changed in the way it works.
Changes to v3.31, you just need to replace the eac3to files in that GUI only.

Plus a million other people were rushed in to quickly compose a bunch of material.
They ran short on time to get a thought-out score finished for the film.
The score also suffers severe clipping and distortion on the first retail album. I think the Pirates Box Set is just a re-package with the bonus disc. I don't think they remastered the first OST at all.

So Klaus Badelt did actually compose for the film? I always thought he just arranged it. So let me get this straight, and correct me if I'm wrong. Hans Zimmer composed most of the score, Craig Eastman did something for it (I forgot what it was), Geoff Zanelli composed some of it, and Klaus Badelt conducted/arranged/composed some for the film also. And no wonder it says "Overproduced by Hans Zimmer".

It was a mix of compositions from everyone.

It was just a messy salad of work.
I think there was up to a dozen ghost writers for the score.
The biggest names couldn't do all of it as they were doing something else at the time so everyone wrote something random and the ghosts had to bridge it all together.

There's a few here in Shrine that know the real story.
I'm giong off memory when someone told me about it.

I like the score and all. Just wish it had more time to get a proper master.
I think the blurays also show the clipping/distortion mastering crappering like the retail OST's.

YES! I guess I like Dead Mans Chest best both as the film and score. I almost like the Curse of the Black Pearl score as much as I do Dead Mans Chest. I think At Worlds End is decent, and I like On Stranger Tides
pretty well, although that is the worst soundtrack release ever for a Pirates movie. I mean the amount of score only adds up to about a little less than 30 minutes! Apparently, Hans Zimmer leaked the complete score/
sessions on the internet and this may have been why.

1. Dead Mans Chest
2/3. The Curse of the Black Pearl

It's ok to like more than 2 of his scores, both of which are considered Blockbusters, by the way. Something you argued that he's well known for. Don't lie, we know you like more than those 2

You seem to be a bit uptight about the comments I made towards Zimmer, this reply kinda shows off that. I don't HATE Zimmer I just sometimes do not like the way he does music, and stuff, I dunno, might also be that I've barely heard much Zimmer, but I ain't lying in what I said, The Lion King and The Simpsons Movie and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron are the only Zimmers that I stand/love. :p

I said I love Powell but I honestly don't have, or haven't checked out all of his scores, and there's probably a few I could listen and tell you I don't like. :p The style I like in Powell is the style of Ice Age 2-3, HTTYD and Pan. Y'know, fantastic, epic and symphonic.

I'm not saying everyone thinks you're annoying. I'm just saying people are fed up of you saying constantly that you're leaving and then you don't.. just that. It does not mean people want you to go. Let me explain. At first, many months ago, the first times you did it, people were worried everytime, but then people saw you always coming back, so they stopped worrying about it, because yes, you always came back. This does not mean we don't like you, or that we want you gone that does not mean we hate you, that does not mean we think you're annoying, it does not mean anything like that; it just means it's useless to say that you're leaving, it's just, some people here care about you and all you're doing is play with their feelings constantly saying you're leaving. They got used to it. It sounds like you're leaving forever. Just simply say you're logging off for a day or two, that you need a rest from the forum. That's the more logical and without drama, people then would wish you a good rest and everything would go well, but you just have to be dramatic, what's new? Look, man, before I leave this topic forever, because I really don't wanna get more into your game, and be the one perjudicated while you go off fine, I'll just say, don't make this a pity feast because.. let me repeat it in black letter so you can see it: This does not mean we don't like you, that does not mean we hate you, that does not mean we think you're annoying, it does not mean anything like that; Meaning; we don't hate you or dislike you or anything, please don't pull that card. I don't even know what else to say, nothing works. Do as you please, I'll just leave and not get into your game.

Don't forget how you've lately been disrespecting us all saying all we do here is rubbish, rubbish, and rubbish. That people here do not care about people, just the music, hit and run. When we do, and some of us have showed care to you a few times.

But saying that you're "leaving" sounds like you're leaving forever. Which we all know is not true. You'll come back - it's happened every time.

It's not annoying. Why would it be? It's text on a screen! In the future say that you're logging off for a few days and having a little rest.
Remember when I first joined the forum? Remember how worried I was when you said you were leaving? Remember the horrible argument I got into with 'emptymetaljacket'?

True, but Spectre played like version 2.0 of Quantum: meeting the man behind the curtain. Plus, Spectre rehashed the "is MI6 relevant in the digital age" trope from Skyfall but not as well. And reveal of Obermeyer as villain and his hate for Bond didn't work. Another rehash of the Silva and Bond duel.
