I've never seen Rango but my sister has. And when I was listening to "Parlay" from At World's End she asked me why I was listening to Rango music.

That's one of my all-time favorite cues from a Zimmer score. That entire moment is epic. Morrricone was obviously the inspiration for it :p

Army of Darkness - Army of Darkness (1992) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106308/)

This is my BOOMSTICK !!!

One of the all time greats, love this Movie.

I remember seeing the first Evil Dead. VHS. Watched it because of Stephen King's recommendation. Several years later my friend Mike said, whilst we were perusing the selections at the local Blockbuster - where the hell did that franchise go? - "you need to watch this movie" and held up a copy of Evil Dead II. I asked "Is it any good?" "Good? It's hilarious." "Hilarious? Evil Dead?." "Yeah, think The Exorcist directed by Chuck Jones."

Well, being a die hard, dyed-in-the-wool, Jones fan that was all the recommendation I needed.

Little did I realize what I was in for.

I laughed so hard I almost did myself an injury. Seriously. When Ash utters that immortal line "Groovy" I spent the next ten minutes on the floor, in a fetal position, laughing my ass off.

It's one of those movies I wish I could forget totally and see again for the first time.

I love Rango! It's such a bizarre film, and really, really weird in some parts, but I still really love it. And the music is superb.

I watched most of it again the other day and noticed how startlingly similar the scene with the water tub cart chase through the canyon was to the equivalent scene in Mad Max: Fury Road. An almost identical set up in both films, in an identical location, both with mad weirdos trying to attack the vehicle. Crazy.

Anyone else notice it?!

Attack on Titan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Titan) (進撃の巨人 Shingeki no Kyoji)
1: "To You, in 2000 Years: The Fall of Shiganshina, Part 1"
"Ni-sen Nen-go no Kimi e -Shiganshina Kanraku (1)-" (二千年後の君へ ―シガンシナ陥落①―)

First thing I notice is the family name of "Jaeger" and the emphasis of the giant wall and how people think it's safe and how people want it re-enforced.

I've not read any of the manga or got into any of the other media.
I'm ready for the live-action film.
Can't be any worse than the Gantz series being turned into a live-action film.

I wonder how much Guillermo del Toro used for influence to make his Pacific Rim.

It's a different chord progression entirely. I honestly can't hear the Mad Max theme in there at all. And I've listened to My Name Is Max at least a hundred times by now. So I wouldn't say it's a direct rip at all.

Ah ok, that explains it. Guess that's more similar, in that it's almost the same chord progression, with a similar melody on top, but I still wouldn't call it a direct rip. But that's just me. :p

Alec Holowka - Fear the Dark - Aquaria: Original Soundtrack

Never have i felt so deeply touched by Lyrics in a Song....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H760kKKCXVM

Lost to the memory of a perfect soul
deep in the shadows of unrelenting wounds
cant disappear inside a dream
when pain opens up your heart

you can fear the dark, and hope for the light
when you feel the pain inside
you can cry out loud and pray for the dawn
youll find yourself in newborn eyes
and burn away the foolish lies of love

you cant remember who you are
when you wake up alone in the dark
the love you felt, so far away
fled from the darkness of your soul

we were always meant to be
so you believed
love would never, ever end
only a fool would watch
as the stars faded into winter snow
touched by the tears
of falling angels screaming out for
one more change to feel first love again
cursed with the memory of her breath

in the dark, in the light
in the cold heart beating out to find
true love
in the cold, in the heat
in the fear that tomorrow never holds
true love

in the dark, in the light
in the memories loving her and dream
of true love
yourre a fool, youre a saint
you are everything and nothing
we lost true love

every time you keep on crying
“hope is dead”

yes we had love once, yes we joy once
yes we had light once, and we were one once
yes we were young once, yes we were fools once
yes we had love once

you were my whole world, you were my true friend
you were my light and dark, you where my everything
you took from me my life, you took from me my worth
you took from me my death, now i am nothing but

an empty soul, in a darkness crawling out
an empty soul that once felt love
an empty soul, in the darkness spiral up
the lies and dreams we shared
the key was in ourselves

if i can trust myself, if i can heal our world
if i can free the bonds of love
then we can kill the ghost
that haunts us everywhere

the ghost of love that never loved

Watching "Fire In The Sky" (1993)
Fire in the Sky (1993) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106912)

I hear they want to do a remake of this but keep it a lot closer to the actual details of the events.

It could really use an upgrade on graphics (ship), audio, and cinematography.
"Dark Skies (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2387433)" (2013) had a lot of great stuff going for it.
I really liked it a lot.

"The Fourth Kind (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1220198)" (2009) sets up a lot to give a nice shout.
But, I think it's too easy to be taken out of the film and have to work hard to get back into the creep zone.

I really don't remember much from Fire In The Sky.
A few screenshots, but thats all I got.
So far, it's okay for a good drama.
I wish they would upgrade the audio design on it.
Give it a good upgrade ala Star Trek TOS Remastered.

Right after FITS, we're watching Dark Skies then The Fourth Kind.

We watched "Communion (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097100)" (1989) not too long ago.
 Christopher Walken.
Not nearly as scary as we used to remember.
A lot of missed opportunities for some real creep zone factors.
That's another that could use a remake based on technological advances.

Aliens is hard to do.
Grey abduction ones, that is.
Not talking about Steven Spielberg or Ridley Scott.
Those are different aliens altogether.
And not Star Wars aliens or Futurama.

The Forgotten (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0356618/) (2004) was a fun small movie.

Extraterrestrial (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2960930/) (2014) I can't stand.
Modern teens swearing every second word they can.
It's like Blair Witch Project, if you can't act or improvise, you swear as often as you can to make it more "human" (because apparently everyone says "fuck" every second or third word of a sentence... :eye: ).
I still want to catch the end of that though. I hope a lot of the modern teens die in it. :awsm:

Signs (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286106/) (2002) was fun. But the magic wore off quickly.
After watching it a million times on VHS and DVD, the bluray is no magic fix.

Listening to the Terminator: Genisys score by Lorne Balfe. (apparently it's like Balfe went mad trying to figure out what kind of score he wanted this to be, so he decided to vomit everything on the mixing board and tried to make sense of it later. Interestingly, the bonus 'Griffith Park' has more clarity than the entire score, comparatively speaking. I miss Fiedel.)

I'm re-listening to Horner's The Mask of Zorro ("The Fencing Lesson").

One of the very few scores of his I adore because the choice of opening to ethnic influences kept, or at the very least distracted, him from indulging in the awful habit of revising if not outright recycling the style of his sound - when he wasn't getting "inspired" left, right and center from other material, that is. There's four that really stand-out, maybe five: Glory, Mask of Zorro, (tentatively) Legend of Zorro, Legends of the Fall and Apollo 13 though I'm adamant about the Zorro scores being the most fun Horner ever was.

I've actually taken a liking to this one. Of course I would have preferred a more dynamic central theme, but like his Wolverine Beltrami manages to persuade with his orchestration and dramatic sensibility. More input from Glass would also have been welcome.

Listening to 6m25 Imperfect Contact now. Which reminds me...

When I first watched Interstellar, I had one of our cats on my lap whilst I was watching. When it came to that scene^ in the film, I jumped badly and the cat wasn't too happy about that lol. So when I introduced my family to Interstellar recently, I warned them that they might not want to have cats on their laps whilst watching, as there is a moment that makes you jump. I told them it wasn't a jump scare, but it would probably still make them jump. I shouldn't have said anything, as they then asked me to let them know before the jump happens so they were prepared. At a couple of points during the movie, they asked "Is this the bit?" to which I said "No, not yet."

Of course, I didn't tell them when it was about to happen. That would have ruined the whole suspense of that scene. So I left it. And all three of them jumped. :D

Best movie watching moment in a while.

I saw the film.... it was honestly depressing(since i am christian).

The man was flogged, scourged to be precise, forced to carry his platform of execution through the streets - it's called the Via Dolorosa not the Via Gaudium - fitted with a crown of thorns, abandoned by his disciplines, - Peter, the rock upon which Christianity is built repeatedly denied knowing Jesus, what a hero - crucified and died in pain forsaken by God.

I would hope you'd be depressed. It's a depressing story.

But don't worry. Christ returns in Christ II: The Sequel a.k.a The Book of Revelations, where he comes back as the Rambo of God with a sword protruding from his mouth - no more of this turning the other cheek crap - and goes full Terminator on his enemies. Pimp slaps Satan into a lake of fire.

Kind of like what happens at the end of T2. Hmmm, Arnie as the returned Christ, the T1000 as Satan. There's a college paper in there, somewhere.

By region I mean what country did you get it from. AUS then? Not bad. I'd have gone for the JP. Gladly they all have subtitles. They're expensive but they offer the best AV quality ever. Anyway, the Madman people don't do bad either, they get all the extras and image is not compressed much.

I know, I know what you mean. But let me explain. There's the separate normal single releases that are called "the silhouette version" by some, which are basically single silhouettes with color. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR9usSa7sd8&feature=youtu.be

And then there's the Hayao Miyazaki Boxset, the only difference is that this one has really thin cases and the original posters. Both are good enough anyway. You get the japanese BDs.

Ohhh okay, I see. yeah, this box is really nice. Princss Mononoke, Totoro, Spirited Away and Ponyo are my favourites ~

Of course the composers did everything. This wouldn't have been possible without them. But what I do is something else entirely. I pour my time (Thread 190117), heart (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/hans-zimmer-angels-demons-complete-film-edit-188867/#post2944729) and soul (Thread 192183) into my film edits. I take pride in doing it. You wouldn't know, because you've never done it. You've never done anything. Now then, let's see what hard work you've contributed to the forum:

Ok, here we have Inception. Bravo. You posted it when literally dozens of people already had it. If you hadn't posted it, someone else would have.

INTS sessions request thread. A request thread. Asking. Not giving. No comment there.

Aurora. Posting a single that was sold on iTunes to benefit the victims of the Colorado shooting. Shameless.

When Things Explode is my favorite. In fact, Person of Interest made me listen to it.

Burn My Shadow is a nice one, though. :D

Watched the new Fantastic Four. Asked for a refund. Was denied but the booth guy admitted that it was a wreck.

It starts out so well, so bright and then it just.... cleaves away the little goodwill that it earned, rotting until the stench is unbearable to point that you can taste the death in your throat and it asphyxiates you to a bliss like no other, the falling of the curtain.

I really, honestly wished never to be in a world where films like these were made. When the credits rolled I rushed out cursing myself for wasting an hour and a half of my life on this abomination (if anyone has a time machine, please pm i can trade avengers 4 sessions). And I'm actually a tough critic of everything really but unlike most people, I give even the worst of the worst, another chance to redeem itself.

This time there'll be no next time. (oh dear god it's taking over, the curse of the foxtrank)

Asked for a refund.

I think you would need a good reason for a refund.
Not an opinion, no matter how strong or educated you make your opinion.

or if you were friends with the guy, then you could have saw it for free.

But I think if something medical was involved or something else that isn't your fault (like a fight with another patron and you kept civil the whole time), then I think the most they would ever do is give you a free movie pass or some popcorn or something.

Most people just joke they ask for a refund.
Commercialism is just too strong to give people what they want.

I would only go if it was a free sneak-peak to the prologue to hear Glass in theater.

I'm not kidding. I actually went up to him and asked for a hour of my life back. I told him the trailers promised me a fantastic experience. I was efficiently duped. He laughed and told me to please go home. I asked him whether he thought I deserved my money back. He replied something along the lines of yes, you do but that's not how the world works or something. I left more impressed with his reply than the entire movie put together a hundred times.

And Beltrami's score was probably the only thing I didn't want to puke over.

that's not how the world works

That reminds me of the time trailers for "The Impossible (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1649419)" (2012) started coming out at theaters.
One of the survivors of the tsunami started having a panic attack as the trailer progressed then he had a mental break down reliving the experience due to the trailer.

He tried to sue the theater that "they didn't warn him about the trailer".
He lost.
Every theater gets different trailers. And to spoil all the trailers for people and issue hundreds of warnings, that's ridiculous.
"This trailer implies rape."
"This trailer implies abduction."
"This trailer implies murder."

But, in all honesty, there really is nothing theaters can do.
Even if they worked hand-in-hand with studios to achieve something, this was literally the only time someone tried to sue over a trailer.
There is virtually no cases to support this endeavor just for one person who was unfortunate.

The only times theaters get invovled to warn audiences are for horror/gore films.
Vomit bags (http://laist.com/2015/08/04/bite_horror_film_ew.php).

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the recorded one.

If I could just call up Jim Gianopulos and ask him for my money and my emotional state prior to trauma, that'd be swell.

But yeah, calming down I realize there isn't much the theatre can do. They could have standards but that's expecting too much. They need the cash to keep the lights on after all. I'm not going to sue anybody because I'm too bummed out. Disheartened at the state of affairs in the world of film, it was always bad but I don't know why this time, it hits me too much too quickly. I adore the art and everything else around it. It's the people and their stupid decisions that are really pissing me off right now.

I need to sleep it off. I'm not even making sense anymore.

I jsut finished watched Interstellar for the fourth time. I cried more than I did
the previous three times combined. I don't know what it is about this movie, but some aspect
of it makes me feel undeniably human. The ending is both happy and sad at the same time, the
story is heart crushing but a fantastic discovery of human adaptation and intellgence, this movie..
I don't know what it is, but it's way more than a movie..
