...and the credits are rolling on The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). Glad I've finally seen these movies. I have to say, the Bourne Trilogy is the neatest, most realistic spy thriller movie series I've seen. I'm hugely impressed by the realistic writing and direction, and the fantastic cinematography, especially the car chases. Incredibly well made.
Despite the reviews, I'm looking forward to seeing Legacy and the new Jason Bourne.

No, but Ottman does a very excellent portrayal of the theme, faithful to the original as I recall; I watched Superman Returns many times when I was younger, and it's version of the march is the one I've heard the most in my life.
I'm in fact in process of acquiring the score now, so I can compare. If I recall correctly, it is so faithful to Williams' original, that my mind may be tricked into believing that it's the same exact recording. My young self would probably be susceptible to that :p Though I'll be able to tell a difference now, I'm sure. I may have watched the film a lot, but It's literally been more than 6 years.

I just listened to it.
May I say tha-... may I say that... may I say that it in many ways is superlative to Williams' original version.
I'm aware that I risk a gunshot wound from an M9, but it must be the power of a new recording compared to that of one a 30 year difference, and I do not doubt there is still always something unmistakably recognizable and genuine about that original recording, but it sounds more... definite, and bold or pronounced. Only downside I can see is that it lacks the cello section the original withholds.

Mm... Williams still may win it over for me, by terms of originality, and all of the piece's sections intact (dat cello, :p), but John Ottman still took on and succeeded of such a challenge by how great his arrangement is, though not 100% faithful, still superb.

It was pretty slow to start (the first real action was around the 1hr mark) but overall it wasn't at all bad. And the final foot>car>motorcycle chase was pretty intense. Loved Renner as Aaron. Hope he and Damon share the screen sometime. That'd be incredible. And of course it couldn't have been in the franchise without "Extreme Ways", and I didn't mind the remix. Here are my only two complaints:
1. Each of the four edges of cover art displayed are not straight and pointed, and in turn, I don't think it looks very nice. That is not how actual record and CD cases are, isn't it?
2. This annoyance is immensely obvious; lack of color. Hm. Now, who in the right mind, would remove such a innovative attribute, without adding the setting or option to be, or not to be. This way, everybody's happy, rather than affecting half or more than of iTunes' users with dissatisfaction. If you loved and cherised the array of beautiful chromatics displayed in the album view, you could set it on. If you in some way disliked it, well, then you could set it off. It makes perfect logical sense, something Apple tends to lack in many areas.
You know? I just read that there were disagreements within Apple's HQ on whether to re-build iTunes from scratch, if that says anything.
All of that aside, I love it. The programs performance is exceedingly better than the previous version, and I do love the larger cover art display.

It's A Good Show, So It Wouldn't Be. :)
It's good primarily because of the skills of the actors, the chemistry between German, Ellis and Brandt, and Ellis's not inconsiderable charm. The police procedural format could get old over the course of 22 episodes, like, for example I, Zombie. That show sometimes skates on the actors's skills and some sharp and witty dialogue to wallpaper over weak plots.
I hope Season 2 shakes up the formula. That said, following the comic would be problematic because I think very few would tune in to watch 45 minutes of metaphysical discussion.

I'm listening at the moment to the score of Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos (Little Rooster's Egg-cellent Adventure) by Zacaras M. De La Riva. I saw the movie the other day. It's a mexican movie, the first in 3D of a two 2D flash based movies, which rounds out the trilogy. I thought the movie was alright. No big deal, but it didn't bore me, was okay but a load of adults may dislike it.
But I'm here to talk about the score - is it me or in a lot of parts, the score is almost similar or a copycat of certain other animated scores? Some other mexican people cotributed a few cues and I wonder if maybe those cues are from them. I'm not sure if Zacaras M. De La Riva would blatantly rip off other animated scores. There's a cue in the soundtrack, that at the moment I cannot recall which one, that sounded way too much similar to a cue of How To Train Your Dragon 2, and maybe some more other scores. Am I the only one who has heard the similarities?

From what I read, people have complained about the custom colors, and clearly, a lesser amount of the user population have praised it, so based on from what gururu said, and what more I've read, it seems that it was due to complaints from the majority that this feature was removed entirely, but I suppose that the 'majority of the user population' were so stupid to the extent of no attempted search for any such option to turn it off, so, they mindlessly fret? rather than perhaps in some way re-iterating that there is (WAS) in fact a setting to turn it on and off, they just off and remove it. Sure, makes perfect logical sense to do that. Instead to make everyone content, they leave half or less of the program's user dissatisfied. What sense does that make?
Apple oughtta get slapped. OR, wise up, and reinstate the setting in the preferences, and, if somebody does not truly like it, they'll put forth the effort to look for an option to set it off, exactly as we have done such in pursuit to set it on.

I'm very pleased with it beside for the two points of annoyance I've made. I'll just have to hope they add an option to turn it on and off again, but then, little does Apple ever realize a mistake unless people are screaming into their faces.

No, the only reason they did this is to have the same exact layout and format as Apple Music. It's the Apple Music design, so that they match. It has nothing to do with people complaining.

You see, I've read that too. I think it should be an optional change (i.e. perhaps two different versions of iTunes that you can download), or it just be more customizable than it is now. Also, last time I checked. this is iTunes, not Apple Music. It's a bit absurd to force Apple Music's design onto iTunes, as if adding Apple Music to iTunes wasn't enough. :p

Bear in mind that Apple's intended audience are tween lemmings with disposable income who latch onto the "latest" media, whether its music, film, tv, apps or memes just to avoid feeling left out from the crowd. An important part of the UI is to aid in generating sales, so if the internal testing shows that this audience responds more favourably to a bare-bones spreadsheet, so be it.
Oh, and another horrible example of app indoctrination on impressionable young minds: the global classification of all music as "songs"… because, SpaceMarin, "Ecstasy of Gold" is not a "song", it's an orchestral track. A song contains lyrics, written words interpreted musically. Edda Dell'Orso is providing wordless accompaniment. She is just another instrument in Morricone's orchestral palette.

I don't believe it's that easy, you guys. It isn't like uninstalling and reinstalling an older version of any other program, we're talking about iTunes, here. By this point, I've definitely looked into doing such a thing, and it looks like some things could potentially fuck up if I attempt anything. System Restore was an easy way to downgrade, but that proved unreliable after erase of a restore point following a reboot.

As I've said, I love the new layout, it's only the absence of color, and not-completely-square cover art that I don't care for.
Here's an album for instance that stands looks decent in this new layout. Of course it'd look better if the cover art was as it should be, but some albums don't look bad with it, and others can be quite unattractive. Needless to say, this album's display doesn't even need color.

Today is the 1 year anniversary of the release of Undertale. Who would've known that game would become so succesful, to the point for over a month or two, or even more, it was all you saw in your newsfeed, everyone and their mother was playing it, and you got everything heavily spoiled, like it happened to me? And I'm prolly the only fucker who haven't completed the game. :p A year, and it feels like it's been ages.
Even though now, due to the massive attention and popularity it got, and its cancerous fanbase, it now feels like if the game is cancerous and a taboo to speak of, I gotta really admit, and we gotta recognize, that Undertale is, and was a really good game, that became so mainstream because it hit people badly, and word spread out. No matter how cancerous today it is, happy birthday Undertale, maybe one day I will dare to pass the game.

Has anyone been able to do a bluray rip of the cinemax series BANSHEE, I have all 3 seasons so far and wish I knew how to make a blu ray rip. I'm surprised no one on here has been able to do a blu ray rip of the series. Is it possible? Are there any scores released by methodic doubt beyond the VA soundtrack?

Desplat scoring was my only incentive to see the film during first run.
My guess is Disney didn't cotton to the tone of the film and intervened to ensure it was very kiddie friendly, which induced them to dump a serious composer for a lightweight one whose worked for the studio before.

Nothing is for certain as to why in the world Desplat was replaced, but I must strongly disagree with your labeled term of 'lightweight'. I understand that he's usually likewise of one to score films leveling more towards the lighthearted side (Pixar, etc), but Giacchino's proven that he's capable of a more serious or darker interpretation (i.e. Jupiter Ascending, Medal of Honor: Airborne), so I'm looking forward to hearing how his interpretation unfolds.

I've never heard a Desplat score that had the requisite amount of horns, brass and boldness a Star Wars score requires. His work, IMO, has always been too restrained, one foot on the brakes. For Star Wars, at times, you need both feet on the gas pedal.

Indeed, I'm really quite enjoying it. By sheer coincidence, I've ended up watching what is basically just another remake of The Prisoner with a new twist. And you're right, the questions are being answered one by one. The big reveal in E05 was quite something - I wasn't expecting it at all.

Michael Giacchino has been in the news lately. :)
Here's a rather anomalous score from Giacchino; one of bombastic proportions, and provoking of a frantic energy most throughout, with only 3 tracks that provide some 'relief' ("Call of Duty (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIBe63zCGS0)", "Red Square (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtffRpv8TEY)", and "Pegasus Bridge (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MXHD6KeHAY)", all of which are just pleasant at their given moments, notably "Pegasus Bridge"). The rest of the score consists mostly of dissonant action cues (complete with blaring brass and strings) and lesser of suspense cues. Overall a quite entertaining and thrilling experience, and more representative than Medal of Honor of the feeling war really has, at least from a realistic point of view. In Medal of Honor, you're the Superman of World War II, in Call of Duty, you're the army of World War II. There's the difference of musical style between the two series. :p
I've gotten to really enjoy this score progressively over the years. From a select of reviews I've read, it's been referred to as 'racket'. Well, be that as it may, but I think it's quite an interesting score, full to the brim of bombastic action and prompting of a great sense of alertness, which in turn sure as hell can scare the shit out of you and leave you on the edge of your seat at some points during gameplay! When I was younger, I was a bit familiar with the music because of the time spent playing the game, but I didn't enjoy it that much until I started giving it more and more listens, I became very familiar with it, and really came to appreciate it's chiefly ranting and bombastic nature, along with a dash of peaceful and suspense qualities.
In particular, I wanted to bring attention to, firstly, the little number of ambient and suspense cues, which don't fail to remind me of John Williams music of the same sort, and lastly, "Call of Duty (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIBe63zCGS0)", whilst it's first 2 minutes or so are of action, with much more delightful melody than most of the score, and the last two consisting of very pretty and pleasing strings and melody, cultivating to the game's main motif, then letting off and down of a couple seconds of low suspense. This track, mainly from the start of the last two minutes I thought bared a lot of similarities to Williams' Born on the Fourth of July. Another track I wanted to bring attention to, is "Pegasus Bridge (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MXHD6KeHAY)", one of entirely beautiful and pleasant nature and feeling, and calmness. It reminisces of the last moments and conclusion of the battle for Pegasus Bridge, and at that, is a perfect cue to close out on of the album.
I think this score is primarily much different from what you'll usually hear from Michael. Only other score very alike to this one that I can bring attention to is Call of Duty: Finest Hour, of which I've... never been able to acquire that game's music in a decent quality. :notgood:
Late edit: I'm hearing that Jurassic World is also very similar to Call of Duty and Finest Hour at many points, most of all from the action cues, but still holds its own style much of the time.

It's... technically music... in a way. There's definitely some form of instrumentation in there but it seems to be more atmospheric than lyrical (IE sounds that don't quite mesh and put you on edge with SFX mixed in). It's good listening and it's certainly scary, but it makes you wonder who went "Yes! Let's release this!"
It seems focused on showing off the sound mix of the film (stuff we wouldn't notice otherwise with the vocals) which makes me think the studio is looking for a Sound Mixing Oscar nomination (perhaps to shift more DVDs and Blu-Rays by sticking "Oscar Nominated" on the cover). Either that or it's aimed at the Blair Witch fans who will buy anything with "Blair Witch" on it.
It's a highly experimental score (if it is indeed a score) and one that's worth a listen. It could just be a way to show off the sound mix or it could actually be a score, just not one we're used to (using sound effects to actually create music).
Don't get me wrong, it's a good soundtrack, but it's strange someone thought "Yes. We have to release this."
