Rogue Nation did not impress me much. I guess my expectations were too high after Ghost Protocol.

The original is best overall. II is the worst, yet my favorite. III is okay, but had a great villain. GP is the most well rounded of all of them. RN is just there.

I can at least understand why some don't want to spend their time listening to music that sounds alike to a couple tons of steel being forcefully thrown out of a storage unit being held by the hook (swaying back and forth) of a crane, but I'm one to enjoy that i.e. Mick Gordon's Killer Instinct, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and DOOM scores.

I would say my musical tastes are kind of fucked up, and extremely varied. :erm: I may be the only person I know that enjoys the classified sorts of Middle-Eastern music as much as I do, but hopefully not for sure. Heard of Death Grips or Dead Kennedys? Michael Giacchino for sure, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Spencer Nilsen, Jack Wall and Sean Murray for their Call of Duty scores, Shiro Sagisu for Evangelion, Phil Collins, Michiru Yamane, Sugar Ray, Arvo Prt for that one absolute favorite of mine, Koichi Sugiyama, Koji Kondo, Fumie Kumatani, Naofumi Hataya, Tomoya Ohtani, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, etc.

There ya go, I've named off a majority of things or (mainly artists) that are some of my favorites and that I really enjoy listening to... sure as hell forgot some (very much so!), but :erm: I hope you get the point.

I don't entirely understand why, or how, but there are a lot of people with a diverse taste that almost not at all makes sense, I don't understand my own half the time ("Bach and Mick Gordon?! What the hell is wrong with you?") but I'm very thankful for my own, and rather enjoy it. Sure there's a lot of music I still don't like, and probably never will (I don't think there is any one person that appreciates all music and tastes are that varied), some stuff you probably couldn't force me to like, even for the life of me. I don't know, but we all have that area consisting of music that we like to listen to, that are maybe similar to each other's in many ways, to the extent that we can recommend something to each other, but it's never exactly the same. It'd surely be dull that being the case.

I'd like to Sulley's thoughts on III and GP.

Ah yes, the Shrine was down when I saw those. My thoughts... hmmm...

III: Really, really enjoyed this one. I think out of all of them, this one engaged me the most and gripped me with the story. Although it's probably the least M:I-esque of them all (there's only a little bit of a heist, when they plan and execute the plan to steal the Rabbit's Foot, which is barely shown from Ethan's POV when inside the building). However, I felt the villain was fantastic. I'd need to watch it again to fully grasp the plot from all angles, but I still understood enough to be hugely engaged with it as a whole. It's by far the grittiest of all 5 films to date. I don't know if it was just an absurd mistake or whether Netflix Japan actually does rate it G, but I'd definitely give it a UK rating of 15.

GP: This was also really damn good. It felt like a new beginning for the M:I franchise and RN similarly felt in the same category, which I'm fine with. It would seem these movies have really come into their own now and have definitely found the formula that works and a cracking core team of characters. Here's hoping M:I6 can continue this so that we get a decent trilogy of new M:I films. I very much enjoyed the impossible mission they had to pull off in GP - the entire escapade in Dubai was brilliantly thought out and executed, and I physically jumped with terror when Ethan swung across and down into the open window but hit it slightly too high up and had to be grabbed from falling to his death by Benji and co. I wish I'd seen the entire thing in IMAX 3D darn it. Ah well.

The one gripe I have about all these movies (although to give Bird credit, GP is almost excused here) is the fact that the female characters are consistently inconsistent. II makes it very clear that Ethan is passionately in love with this woman, and they're happily reunited at the end. Three cheers. But then III makes it out like she never existed and Ethan is now engaged to be married to someone else entirely, who you've never met before. Now, I'm actually pleased they got rid of the woman from II, as she kinda irritated me, and I really loved the character of Julia (and the actress who portrayed her). But the inconsistency is frustrating. Then, not counting the final scene, Julia isn't in GP. Now, as I said, I'll give Brad Bird credit for trying to explain her absence and for putting her in the final scene, but it's still annoying that she's not in it a bit more and that there's another, completely new female character on the team. Then, in RN that female character from GP (I can't even remember her name) has also disappeared without explanation and there's another completely new female character (although it's good that this one was a completely different sort of character, so I'll give the movie that, but still). And what of Julia, the woman Ethan so desperately tried to save and nearly died for several times? Not even a passing reference.

I tried to think which was my favourite of the franchise last night, but I can't. Maybe in a few years' time when I've seen them all again, I'll have a better idea, but they're all pretty damn good and very entertaining. Which is incredibly rare for a franchise now hitting instalment #6.

Hm... not bad, but not my type of Mediterranean score. It doesn't really connect with me like the sort of music I speak of that give me tingles down my back. The melodies were not really there, though there were some moments in particular I liked, just a score I would not justify as having that sort of Middle Eastern melodies or tunes that I like (or akin to The Message or Lawrence of Arabia). Thanks anyway for recommending me this, gururu, because it maybe still has the chance of growing on me.

And that is truly a damn shame. *thinks of Giacchino's Finest Hour*

Either they don't foresee prophet in it or the company won't let out an album. Usually it's one or the other. I'm also assuming that the cause of the absence of Finest Hour's score as a release was due to the Spark Unlimited/Activision situation, but that's for another time...

Now I have the FYC, which is either a complete different album, or has the same cues but with different track names (which is it??) and I apparently have the exact same tracklist as mr_merrick's BD audio, but they're all a lot shorter. Does that mean those are film versions of the same tracks? I hate it when I already have an album but completely overlooked it and now I haven't the slightest idea how to fix this... HELP? :)

1. Go to "Song" view, right-click on the column header, and from the contextual menu select "Date Added". Sort the tracks by clicking on the "Date Added" column header. Select all the tracks from the most recently imported album, hit Command-I and rename the album: "Mark Zuckerberg Is Satan: A Sonic Misadventure" and, just like that, you'll have two versions of this vastly overrated soundtrack.

2. Create a "Recently Added" playlist and set the option to "Date Added in the last 1 "days". If more than one day separates the two albums only the most recently imported album will appear. You can then rename the most recent album: "I Trained My Sheep to Use Facebook in Only 30 Days. Listening to a beautiful soundtrack of a beautiful movie that I watched two days ago with my mom, who has a tremendous nostalgic love to the history of Heidi, from when she was a child; so much love, that she hadn't went to see a movie in theatres for years, until this movie. At the end, this resulted to be a very beautiful movie, again. Very well done, gorgeous fitting music that I had a nice experience with in my cinema's surround. I recommend this movie and soundtrack to everyone.

Remember what I said. I'm running an OS beta on MAC. I doubt Windows and OSX versions of iTunes are exactly alike :) I'm on 12.5.0.68, you're on 12.4.3.
Obviously there's a discrepancy in version releases there simply based on OS. As you can see from my screenshot, it's still all white.

That thought did occur to me as well. It makes every bit of sense that the latest software version released on their base operating system would be a few steps above Windows! :p

I know that, it's a swiss story after all. Here in Spain the anime hit very hard back in the 70s. BUT HARD, VERY HARD.

You know Marco, the anime, too? That hit even harder. It came right after Heidi, and it was such a huge hit. It had an enormous amount of watchers, and a bit of funny trivia; it was so big, that when the last episode aired, afterwards there was a news program, and it opened with the news "Marco has finally found his mom". The japanese co-produced animes hit very hard in the 70s and 80s in Spain.

A depressing cue of sorts, yet concurrently a profound beauty to it, especially within the context of the scene in which it's used; it almost draws tears to my face.
I could almost put into words the same for "Fratres" (of fucking course), "A New No-Life", and "Leichentrger zur Wache". Indeed, I can.

This is one of my favorite scores, that I've put forth much time into, and of which I desire for there to be unreleased music in some form or another, but there may not be. It's just an outstanding score, I just really hope it's not one of those short ones in duration.

The story of my discovery of this relates very closely in with Fratres, which then leads back to my first viewing of The Place Beyond the Pines, in January, 2014. At a couple points in the film, that composition is used, and I absolutely loved it. It was the 'strings and percussion' variant that was on the soundtrack release; that's the one I familiarized myself with the most, for a long time. About a year passed. I listened to it again, and sort of 'rediscovered' it, (as I do with a lot of things), and that in turn found myself looking it up again, and somehow I found out of it's use in Mother Night. It wasn't through the Wikipedia page of it, or anything. It was through a search in Apple Music, because I was looking to listen to it, and I saw it as a track from the album release of Mother Night, decided "what the hell? I enjoy this one enough, why not", and gave the track a listen.

With that, my love and enjoyment of this utterly beautiful cue was fully rejuvenated, reinstated, and rediscovered. These events took place in October of 2015, right around when I started to come around here. I was just in tears. Even though I still enjoy the composition just so much still to this day, it was that first or second listen that brought me to such a state. This piece of music really made me feel. It wasn't so often other than some moments in a Williams (Princess Leia's Theme) and Giacchino (The Jet Aircraft Facility) score or two that found me to a feeling like this, but this was the first piece in a while. It affected me (and still does) so much, on a very deep, emotional level. I just can't really express through words exactly how, I think it's much too complex for that, but this description perhaps comes close to the edge:

"a "mesmerising set of variations on a six-bar theme combining frantic activity and sublime stillness that encapsulates Prt’s observation that ‘the instant and eternity are struggling within us.”"

That's the closest I've ever seen. Maybe someday I'll be able to say something of it, that can in some way express what it makes me feel. But for now, I'm speechless.

Gah! How must I be allowed to speak this much of piece of music, and not even at the least, provide a link in the same post? :p probably my favorite version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl_JLucrqmc)

Can anyone help me make sense of this mess? I downloaded the FYC and also downloaded the 24-bit BD Audio by mr_merrick, but apparently I already had The Social Network in my iTunes library.
HELP? :)

Apparently also the FYC is complete, according to the NINCATALOG page, but it has different track names compared to the OST?

no one? :)

re: The Prisoner (2009). I read the reviews at the time and stayed far, far away. As a matter of fact, I think the critical drubbing it got compelled me to re-watch the original.

I heard similar reviews, and also stayed away. But for some reason I've decided to finally give it a go, and from the first episode at least it's not half bad and I'm gonna keep watching. McKellen is a really brilliant choice for a Number Two.

You can't top the original and this remake isn't trying to. Like I said before, it's different enough to be enjoyable as something different, and doesn't feel like a rip-off.

I'd have loved to have seen McGoohan as Number 93 at the beginning of Episode 1. Pity he turned down the role offer.

Better fucked up than dull.

Tastes are varied, and Thank God for that, there is something out there for everyone,
Music, for me, expresses quite a bit about a Person, and us "Niche" People just seem
a little bit more.... individual i guess. I know i can't really identify with what's popular nowadays,
never owned a Social Media Account, either...

Again, very unusual for someone your Age :p
Makes me think that not all Hope is yet lost

Dead Kennedys i have heard of, Death Grips i haven't...

Basically everything that isn't tagged as an alternate came from the FYC, which means film mix. Everything else came from the OST (short -not film mix- cues) and fuack sake I can't even remember where I got the 7-10min tracks from... fml...

The titles in brackets are the OST titles so I could keep track of everything while I rearranged everything.

I really like it. It's a very beautiful score, reminiscent of at the least a handful of tracks from Tim Follin's Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future, quite like Newman's Nemo and Dory scores, and moments from AFRIKA, and ... well, all of that and the subject matter of the game, fucking sign me up! :p

I love those track titles too. Some of them look as if they are straight out of the Book of Genesis.

In particular, a track I wanted to mention; "Chaos, the mother" is wonderful and terrifying, through it's at times darker threatening feel, some brief moments of relief, and combination of some electronic and orchestral elements. Also seems like a good track to represent the Vortex Queen from Ecco the Dolphin, which I have said before.

Hell yes, it was when I became enthralled with Ecco the Dolphin that I realized my interest in the sea, and / or anything oceanic, so I'm usually open to things around this subject. ABZ is also probably one of the first game soundtracks since 2000 (Defender of the Future) to sound anything like this, so I was intrigued to hear it once it was brought to my attention.

I also read an interview with Spencer Nilsen, I believe it was on NeoGAF, and he was asked about, and commented on it!

About to watch Big Hero 6! I FUCKING love this movie.. And I really can't pinpoint why (other than Baymax of course!). It could be the great comedy moments from Fredd and Wasabi. Or maybe the strong brotherly relationship between Tadashi and Hiro, and Hiros emotional moments after Tadashi is gone. Maybe it's because the voice cast in is pretty spot on! And the chemistry between the Heros are fantastic, or maybe Henry Jackmans awesome score, or the equally awesome 3D!

Basically it's pretty much one of my top 10 Disney movies...

Whilst rummaging through the music files of the game, I came upon this very beautiful cue, and by all of the rest, (save for Williams' cues from the films) it really stood out to me. Can it be confirmed as native to The Old Republic? Or is it in fact a cue from the prequels I've not heard yet...

On the previous page you said it didn't make sense and didn't explain anything. It did. But only just enough to allow me to go away satisfied. Not without questions (I still have many!), but satisfied enough to walk away rather than sit there pulling my hair out, like I did with the original finale.

Which is why I think it fell short, very short, of the original. It was one of those pointless reboots Hollywood seems driven by unknown reasons to make.

We'll have to agree to disagree here - the scriptwriters specifically said that they were making it different to the original, and I feel it worked well as a stand-alone series.

Trevor Hopkins (Producer): "We're all fans of the original, but the original was forty years ago. What we didn't want to do was to copy it, because that would be wrong. So thankfully Bill Gallagher, the writer, has got a completely different spin on it. There will be touches of the original. We do pay homage, but it has definitely moved on."

Jim Caviezel (Number Six): "I like to think of this as the kind of "Prisoner" for this time period. My message to those who are watching this is: it's very allegorical, as the old "Prisoner" was to the Cold War, [so] this is to our time."

Sir Ian McKellen (Number Two): "This is very different."

Not one of del Toro's best works.

I don't particularly care for of any of his films produced in Hollywood.

That, plus I think he's a terrible writer to begin with. As much as I might laud the direction and visual aesthetic of Pan's Labyrinth, for instance, concluding a withering critique of fascism with a soothing endorsement of the Roman Catholic Church is exceedingly contradictory.

Not a silly question at all!

I (vaguely) recall watching a couple minutes here and there, on and off, I think I was about 7 or 8 or so at the time.

I think it's probably overdue by this time that I've sat down and watched it. I know that it's considered a classic, at most I've heard about the film a good amount; the words The Great Escape is definitely not something unfamiliar to me. :p
