The Conjuring OST
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IpwsbJexZU&list=PLBASPOd7e-FKNHn18AgsS5x4zkWhD6bcH
The movie freaks me out for a lot of reasons.
Mainly because it plays a lot with "possession is 9/10 of the law".
The things you keep and interact with could just be the opportunity that others need.
No matter how small.
Insidious OST

Just the first movie gets to me.
Out of body experiences, I've heard a lot about. And heard friends of friends talk about it.
I think one of my friends actually had it happen to her once.
And there were a couple instances that shook me to my core where it felt like I had a couple OOB experiences.
This movie relates to me because of those experiences.
And it's a mighty fine soundtrack.

some sort of "Grindhouse" version of The Empire Strikes Back.
Infinitely better than the existing blurays.
Now that Disney doing to Star Wars what they do the Marvel movies, they ought to consider selling blurays of the OT in their original quality.
I've got four or five different ESB editions, I think :p Not even counting the official Blu LOL :D

I absolutely LOVE that movie... I still have to watch the director's cut.
Same.
This one I spent a lot of time tracking down.
I belive the HD-DVD has the best transfer. Director's cut.
The blurays sadly got DNR'ed. :/ Only one texture: wax.
I prefer the DC over the theatrical.
The Theatrical is a nice introduction to the film.
But to really get the story and absorb everything, the DC is the way to go.
I've got four or five different ESB editions, I think :p Not even counting the official Blu LOL :D
There are sooo many options for this movie.
Ultimately, I'm sticking with the Grindhoue 35mm scan.
The Despecialized versions seem to be in 720p only.
The biggest problem I see with all the fan edits is that they only know what to do to fix things.
As in, just lay it out for pre-production.
They should have another team that does the actual production.
No 720p for blurays. No black borders for single file distributions. No LPCM audio for single files.
They make it too convenient for people to burn to bluray disc.
Yet, in most places, there are too many comments about people not being successful in burning to disc.
Patches for burning to disc are awlays needed.
Keeping everything limited to give that extra "personal touch" doesn't make it a great product.
It's not that hard to set up a collaberation with people to split up the project.
One person knows how the product should look, the other knows how to do proper encodes so you don't need patches.
I got ROTJ in Grindhouse 35mm transfer. I can't wait to watch that one.
ANH, I've got the Silver Screen 35mm transfer, version 1.6.
And I got a different 35mm project, too. I can't remember what it is.
But it's not the Despecialized version as those are flawed projects.
or the best options are no longer available.
I still search a lot of places in case they pop up in better formats than just the hack jobs that insist on LPCM audio.
That's what's killing the projects.
My guess is that they don't want to use pirated DTS-HD MA suite and don't want to use FLAC since everyone will burn to BD disc.

All the same marble. Same timeline.
As I understood it, each marble was a galaxy? And not an enclosed universe.
Also, a wikia says Sonnefeld confirms the marbles.

1 is great.
2 is passable.
3 is great.
MiB is doing a crossover with the Jump Street franchise.
I think with the same duo from 21/22 Jump Street.
They might do a 23 Jump Street before MiB/JS cross-over.
RE: 21/22JS,
Although, I don't ever recall the tv series going scifi.
The movies don't ever give hints to an alien universe.
RE: MiB,
They can literally cross any franchise they want since it's all alien and scifi.
Possibilities are endless.
But why Jump Street?
Commercialist ideals of comedy.

Agree. Love the cover art. (Its rare to see art of that caliber adorn albums or movie posters, for that matter, today.
BTW, Elton John is Captain Fantastic and Bernie Taupin is the Brown Dirt Cowboy.
P.S. Finished watching Stranger Things last night. I'm not one for nostalgia but the Duffer Brothers did a very good job of incorporating 80's cinematic elements and then expanding them and creating their own story. Unlike, say, Super 8.
Better than most movies playing this summer. Captured the magic that Spielberg did not with BFG.

TN1 is also disbanded.
Their only goal was to provide a decent transfer of the 35mm scans.
And they did.
Getting kicked out of the fanedit site also contributed to them parting ways.
Some of the sources they got were obtained through illegal means.
Probably just borrowing and not actually buying the print.
Which makes it a violation of certain copyrights in certain countries/states/provinces/etc.
That'd be like going to the public library, borrowing a dvd and copying it to your PC to upload for others to have.
Including material that's OOP.

I gave up on the series. I was hoping a turn toward the villains would improve the show but that didn't happen. The writers dumbed down The Penguin, brought back Fish Mooney - really, was anyone calling for her return? - and are recasting Ivy with an older actress so she can be a love interest or femme fatale for Bruce. (Which is kind of creepy.) Plus the show is a good example of the difference between motion and action. Lots of motion in Gotham but it's not going anywhere in a hurry.
And the producers - unless I missed it - are still teasing the appearance of the real Joker. Enough already.
There's way too much padding taking place so the show can hit a seven year syndication mark. Recast an older Bruce and let's get to Batman: Year One and dispense with the soap opera. As Nolan proved with The Dark Knight you can have great villains without a lot of backstory.

When I play it on random with other complete scores, I never really notice The Avengers, except for the biggest cues.
A large portion of it is forgettable.
A lot of it seems like ambience for a LEGO video game.
Phase 1 of Marvel is very slow.
It comes off as a stage production more than a movie franchise.
Phase 2 picks up.
But starts to feel like it's going more towards action music than themes.

Sorry, but IMO, there was something wrong with it and what was wrong with it is the score is very unremarkable. Compare the Avengers' score with the music Silvestri crafted for BTTF, Predator, Volcano and it sounds like background music in comparison. Music for films like this needs to be big, bold and brassy, hefty, hefty, not wimpy, wimpy.
But, in fairness, most of music composed for Marvel's films is fairly flaccid. The only film that has a score I can actually recall is Debney's Iron Man 2 score.

Don't quote me on this, but I think that's why Magneto's theme from First Class wasn't in DoFP. But that didn't stop Ottman from referencing it in "Time's Up" (a non-Magneto scene).
The only motifs from prior films that returned were the Winter Soldier synth thing, and Jackman's Cap theme stumbled its way into the end credits for a few seconds. Very disappointing.
Apparently there are new themes for Spider-Man and Iron Man but I couldn't hear them.

Opinions.

There's no gifs out there.
But that's like putting colorful play-do into a meat grinder and watching it come out gray.

Listening to the iso score to Angry Birds movie.
It includes source cues.
It's AC3@192.
I can really see the decision behind that format.
It's for kids. They're not going to care about the difference.
But, for it being so low bitrate in AC3, it's going to make the worst project.
The best solution, really, is to force everyone to install and use something that plays AC3 audio and cut it (there are lossless tools) into tracks.
Most will want Mp3, which will cause definite loss. Possibly audible loss. Major faux pas.
The second best solution is to convert to low bitrate AAC after cutting.
Except, most will probably use overbloated bitrates. Faux pas.
And FLAC seems really useless to prevent any loss.
Especially where the community prefers ALAC, which is not an optimized codec.
FLAC really would benefit from the poor quality sources in this case of ALAC.
You'd save so much more space.
The score seems to really start and stop like a kid's cartoon.
There's no fancy design to it like an adult movie where cues can blend into each other.
Cutting into mutliple AC3 files should be easy.
Maybe even a playlist to accompany the AC3 file with chapters.
There was an idea a few years ago for iso scores to have chaptered playlists for the image file.
Someone came up with the idea for the Oblivion iso score.
Maybe, create a chapter file and mux the chapter and untouched AC3 into a Matroska container.
Play back in either Foobar2000 or MPC-HC.
No idea if VLC will play .mka files (Matroska audio).
It really feels like throwing this out to shriners will just create a muddy cesspool of unintelligible MP3 conversions at 320.
320 will not help nor prevent any loss.
But, I assure you there will be a lot of dumb people who will want and provide 320.
Shrine is smart like that.

I would personally just cut everything up and export at VBR-0.
Sure, there'd be some small amount of data lost in the process, but it's Angry Birds. It's just for fun. No one will be listening that carefully. And it's not worth the space for lossless.

just installed the iTunes 12.5.0.48 update on Mac AND the MacOS Sierra developer release (I have access through my work).
I don't know which one is to blame, but DAK isn't going to like this... the colours are gone in iTunes tracklistings. It's gone in iOS 10 as well. Everything's white now.
It might also be a Sierra beta bug though, because the option for custom colors IS still there in the settings:
You're damn fucking right I don't like it. 2 buddies of mine updated to 12.5 and one of them has the iOS 10 beta. All the colors are gone. GONE. Fuck that shit. I held off on iOS 9 for MONTHS, I can hold off until they bring the colors back, if ever.
When I opened iTunes last week, I got the prompt to update to 12.5. And I said "NNNNNOPE!!!!" and carried on with 12.4.

That's what my friends and I have been saying. I've come to the conclusion we're in the minority when it comes to the music app. I believe that the general public isn't as...."attached" as people like us are to the app.
Let's use my brother, for example. He'll rip music off YouTube and just open it in iTunes with no labeling, no album art, nothing whatsoever. However YouTube has the file named is how it's labeled in his library and on his phone.
Now then. Go through MY music and forget it. It's as pristine as pristine gets. Every. Single. Track in my library is labeled as it should be. Artist, album, disc #, track #, composer and album art. I enjoy looking at the colors. It's fun to browse Google for images to be used as custom covers and think "ooo! I wonder how that'll look in ios!" It's been great being in that mindset. And now with iOS 10 and iTunes 12.5, they just shat all over me.

I still have an HTC Desire HD. I plan to clean it up sooner or later and start over fresh, see where it takes me. There's no denying iPhones are fast, even if they "cheat" by not really closing your apps (hence why everyone always taps the home button twice to close apps). It's just generally faster. Android tends to get cluttered fast, but you don't get that with iPhones because they close the whole thing down (sometimes a plus).

I admit, the Wizard Collection is marvelous in packaging, but it looks cumbersome to get through. As the result, the Hogwarts Collection was better in practicality. Plus, doesn't it make sense to put these all in a book?
About the price, I actually got it for $89.99! ($98.09 in total). It was Cyber Monday at the time. I assumed that nothing would would really interest me. When it was Advisory at school, I decided to check Amazon to see what the hell they had.
Then it popped up on top of everything.
I had been hesitant to get the set of Harry Potter films before. The prices were never convincing for a set that was pretty bare bones and in basic packaging. I'd planned to get those two packs that had two films each, but I forgot about it after a while. I assumed one day, something would come out of it.
November 30, 2015 was the day that it was decided. I freaked out when I saw it. I told my peers about how much of good deal it was, in which they agreed. I told the assistant principal about it, who should be suspicious as to how I knew about it while I was in school, but was still happy for me. I even made the order in a school computer immediately after, because I assumed if I ordered it later, it would be sold out (which I'm not sure if it did). When I finished the order, the teacher in the room asked if I made a good purchase, in which I happily nodded and went off to get lunch or further brag about it.
At this time, I hadn't been refunded from an item I attempted to buy earlier in the month. The seller from discogs was new and couldn't really handle the job. I assumed that he simply was a scammer and that I wasn't getting my money back, after many messages were sent. Considering I had barely deposited money for saving, I decided to risk it this time. Lo and behold, I actually got refunded! It ended up really saving me money in the end.
Admittedly, it didn't ship immediately. Had to wait a few days before Amazon sent me a message that it did. Once December 5th hit, I was a happy little boy.
I really am a lucky fuck.

The Hogwarts Collection is just more practical in presentation but it's still a fairly largue book and I dunno where to store it.
The Wizard Collection had many stupid gimmicks, the only good thing about it is that the movies were presented in beautiful book-like digipacks.

Honestly, is it really necessary? I think the directors made the films they wanted to, hence why you didn't get any of the other extended versions. Even if WB does them themselves, what else would be there to add? They already made the changes. Adding back material isn't going to significantly change plot points (if they did, why were they cut out then?). Lastly, the deleted scenes are there for fans only, having the very superfluous moments that are usually gutred, so when ABC does do those cuts of theirs, it never really amounts to much.
All in all, these extended versions won't be all it's cracked up to be.

I'm aware of how deleted material can improve a film. BUT, I sincerely doubt any of the HP films had problematic enough productions to have to take out footage with such significance to the actual films. I really doubt it.

You two have a point, but more book-related material would be nice :) LOTR and especially the Hobbit is a great example of milking it... One film for The Hobbit that tells the book by the letter would've been better.
Also personally I'd prefer HunterTech's HP version. That book looks gorgeous.

Talking about HP, I remember I saw HP 7 A and B a year or two ago, one day randomly I was just checking on them but then I saw them all fully.
I thought Part 1 was much better, and Part Two.. just.. I mean.. I expected way much better specially the final fight, it was just about a few minutes? It was so fast.. it really didn't flow good to me.

Part 1 was a bit slow at times, for me. The fight on Hogwarts grounds was absolutely stunning at times, and I really enjoyed most of it. I do agree that it felt like it was over too quickly. There was also no emotional impact for me. The same when Dumbledore died at the hands of Snape. In the film it felt bad, but when I read the book the first time I felt utterly heartbroken and shocked. I finished the book and stared out in front of me for a good fifteen minutes, trying to grasp what I had just read.

Sorcerers Stone will forever be the favorite, since that film means so much to me in my childhood. Prisoner of Azkaban is another I enjoy, but it doesn't really work that well as an adaptation. So many details and awesome scenes missing that it really does hurt for me, especially when it's my favorite HP book.
I decided to watch DH pt. I and pt. II back to back when I had borrowed my brother in law's set. It worked better that way. Pt. II I felt was briliant, especially in how relentless it was in pace. I get it's not for everyone, but it worked quite well for me.
I really need to binge them. After 3, I'm honestly not that familiar with them. I more associate with the books better. I attempted two times, but it's only ever the first. I'll l get through them eventually.
I need to read the new book. Didn't mention it before because I DON'T want spoilers.

I'm oblivious to the Harry Potter books.
the movies I enjoyed because of the magic and effects.
A lot of the stories feel like filler to get to the end. Or just opportunities to showcase magic.
The final film looks like it was made just for action and 3D.
Looking back, my mom has tainted the series for me.
"Why isn't it about Herminie, or whatever her name is? She's the one doing everything. He does nothing! All his friends do everything and know more magic than him. OOOH THE CHOSEN ONE! *snicker*"
And that's how magic is killed.
She loves Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
So I still have that.
My mom loves Richard Harris so she didn't like that he died and got replaced.
But, I mean, it was wierd to read his final days on IMDb trivia.
They said that Harris kept saying not to replace him, he'll get better, he'll finish the series... :erm:
You have no idea how much I worry about the day that Sir Ian McKellen is going to come to pass. :ashine:
I hope he's done with Magneto for real.
I'd hate to hear that he dies mid-production and the studios decide to copy/paste his face over a stand-in.
It broke my heart watching the behind-the-scenes to the first Hobbit movie.
what a disaster that production was.
I found it entirely odd for Guillermo del Toro to start directing.
He's a good director, sure. But he doesn't do major franchises.
Hellboy is a breeze compared to the universe of LOTR.
And The Hobbit doesn't feel like anything del Toro would do naturally in his own element.
It's just not that kind of production where he would have creative freedom over the creatures or story.
You can easily spot a Guillermo del Toro production based on the creatures.
And The Hobbit/LOTR universe did not scream for his imagery.
It almost killed PJ for christs sake.
It almost made SIM quit.
He's truly my hero.

Yesterday night, before I went to bed, since we were talking about Animaniacs music in the La-La Land wishlist thread, I started looking up stuff about Animaniacs and I found some great curious historical stuff about a few conventions that a few adult/teen Animaniacs fans did since 1993. Animania I, II, III, etc.. apparently all this group of people had known each other, and were continously sending emails to each other discussing the show and stuff in the ancient days of dial up internet.. extremely archeological now. So, the producer Hustings learnt about them, and he liked them so much that he invited them all over to the Warner Bros. Animation studio, and they were toured on the making of a few episodes of the show. They actually also saw live a recording session of the score of Animaniacs. You can check in the video I link, a few seconds of the recording (That's extremely rare!) and the fans talking. It's really really nice! But what's better, it's.. knowing how the hilarious episode, "Please Please Please Get A Life Foundation" was based on them! On the exactly group. Thought it was based in fans altogether but it's really really fun. And love how they loved it and weren't offended. People these days would be offended about it. But more about it, I read a wonderful archive site where they, the fans, wrote and chronicled all they did that day. Wonderful!
It's a marvelous piece of animation trivia history! Just the same how about a month or two ago I discovered and was researching about a similar thing, where teen fans of Tiny Toons wrote for the show, and also went to the studio to meet Spielberg and all. I also read news about it and videos. This is all so nice!

The quality difference is extreme.
White noise, tape noise, no bass, compressed to hell.
It's neat that the movie will feature a lot of the iconic cues from the older Godzilla movies (you must also be familiar with, not white godzilla movies).

It's a lot longer than the trailer version so a lot of new stuff to it.
Since it's a custom mix, the actual version for the trailer won't show up on the album and the only license they had was for this "album" version that isn't the "what you hear" version in the trailer.
A lot more vocal ambience where it sounds more ghostly.
It's a fun track.
I'd recommend keeping the youtube video they had posted that was the "what you hear" version.
Since youtube transcodes to AAC, you're already getting a very nice quality rip if you use JDownloader to grab the video.
Cutting the youtube video down has to be done with FFMPEG or any GUI/AIO program that uses FFMPEG.
-acodec copy
Which means it just copies rather than encoding to a new AAC stream.
The album version, the youtube rip, plus the trailer edits we've seen posted here, that's all you need for the VA album.
Now we just wait for the expanded score.

A little different than what I was expecting due to A LOT of material being removed from the final cut which was shown in trailers. I kept waiting for this to happen and that to happen, and they never did. This has happened before with many films, but never this much.
The entire opening is awesome. Great soundtrack (not the rap/hip-hop shit), a lot of classic rock in the beginning and sprinkled throughout. Bohemian Rhapsody DOES play at the very end of the film and it's Queen, not that emo band. Why they covered it for the VA album I have no idea. Also, "You Don't Own Me" isn't the cover by Grace. It's the original by Leslie Gore.
El Diablo is probably my favorite member of the squad. The Joker doesn't have as large a role as we're lead to believe.

This soundtrack is perf. Why hasn't it been completely released in CD.. It's not a game important enough for it to get a full release like some Zelda soundtracks lately, and no label has been interested or contacted Nintendo about it..

"Defeat is no option (1197)/進攻" - Shiro Sagisu - Shin Godzilla Music Collection
I love this track, much better than when I first heard it. It's a very fitting cue for Godzilla. I love the melodies.
And those strings! I love the sound of the strings, they're one of my favorite instruments, at least inclusive from orchestral scores.

Watched Suicide Squad earlier this morning and I really liked it! Unfortunately I have to agree with the critics about the messy story and editing... but the film is still very fun!

Fair enough. I thought it felt very lossy/roughly edited, but I need to listen to it in full. I only picked a few cues to judge.
Link to the cover? It's awesome! :)

Sessions. I've taken a (long :p) break from my custom CoS project, but I've been doing quite a bit of research and analysis of the first two films' scores - just no editing though.

The track from the recently released No Man's Sky: Music For An Infinite Universe album is absolutely wonderful. That first melody is my favorite. Then follows into the next one. While I don't favor the other melodies you hear quite as much, I feel it allows for it to flow much more eloquently, alternating between. They complete the track. From start to finish, the song culminates beautifully, with more layers of synth[?] being added into the mix. This was an instant favorite when I first heard it.
That's my mini-review for this track! :)
I know, it could've been better. I'm working on it!

bobtheknob's thread of Solti's Wagner prompted me to put on Tristan und Isolde, in this case Karajan's from 1972, considered the best recording of the opera you'll ever hear.

I have the Solti too, but I don't think I'd survive an additional 4 hours of tortured romance just for the sake of comparison.

There is still SO MUCH great music that I don't know of and/or haven't listened to, but I think I've been coming along with the score to El Cid and the three of Maurice Jarre's scores that I've been listening to.
I just need to keep looking. :)

This track sounds so noble, and beautiful. It's a desert terrain themed cue, and music composed for those sorts of things I usually really enjoy, the melodies just give me chills. ;-)
Now, where are the words that'll allow for me to further describe how beautiful I think the strings sound, especially in this track?

Fun fact: Chris Bleth, a "Performer on orchestral woodwinds and world-music wind instruments", who is present on this track, was also featured on some of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun's and Call of Duty: Black Ops II's tracks.
I'm not surprised, an example: Talanzaar, or "Oriental spirit" from Outcast (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIqqHpZqDkU), and "Sand and Camels" from Black Ops II (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsMBuCUF-H0) (I also like this cue a lot, as well) You can the same what'cha'ma'call'it wind instrument on these two tracks.
