Turned off Fear the Walking Dead to save for when we have 3 episodes to go through in one night for a nice zombie marathon. :)

Now watching the TV mini-series for "Dune" (2000)
Dune (TV Mini-Series 2000) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0142032/)

More immersive than the David Lynch production (1984; which suffered production hell, iirc).
Although, the DL version has different cuts available, still a mess to sort out.
Which, I also have to watch in it's fullest form.

I have Children of Dune (2003) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0287839/) to watch next.

And then the documentary for: Jodorowsky's Dune (2013) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1935156)

And the greatest game ever to play again: Emperor: Battle for Dune (2002) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276104)

EDIT: I know I got the book lying around somewhere... pretty black/white cover. Minimalist.
I want the encyclopedia they have on this universe.
Plus any other books they made.

I think I might change my theme from GoT to Dune.
Or maybe LOTR... make up a new race. Find a spot to plop it in the universe.

I haven't seen the film in ages, so I consulted youTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3U83QLoATU) and it would seem that, no, the cue for Room 101 is not included, which is rather odd. Perhaps Muldowney didn't compose it.

And I'm currently listening to this; such a beautiful song to begin one's day to:

(it's the name I gave the hidden track on that album, playing on the fact that it contains brief "reflections" of every track.
And yes I know, four stars is very generous for an album I dissected leaving out tracks 4-8 and 9. In my defense, they're really that bad.)

I remember recording that track off the film many years ago onto a cassette tape (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Cassette) using my mum's old ghetto blaster (http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/sony_fm_am_lw_sw_stereo_cassette_corder_cfs_65l.ht ml).

I just finished re-watching Mann's Blackhat. I still don't understand the hate this movie gets. It's a masterclass in filmmaking. It is admittedly clumpy at times (overly sentimental subplot and the sound editing is just horrifyingly poor - whoever oversaw the ADR didn't even bother taking the time to integrate it properly and it's fucking annoying because it's so noticeable) but otherwise it's an incredibly intelligent and well-developed behemoth of a story.

Remember the 2016 Acura ILX Commercial (http://youtu.be/Ez6fTgyhpBk)?

Yup. I remember thinking "whoever wrote this is a genius". Mythological allusions are so simple but this one was so elegantly executed. I still believe Cyrin's cover is a masterpiece that shouldn't be touched at all. What I was surprised by was your choice of the black version of the cover. I had the same one (as opposed to the grey one) ;)

3D was "meh" and it was the only 3D session to give me a headache.

Post-converted to 3D, so it's not going to be any better than it would if you let a 3D TV convert it.

The 3D BD's are "open matte", no black bars.
A number of 2D films got opened up to Open Matte for 3D conversion: Jumper; I, Robot; Titanic; and a couple others, IIRC.

Since the movie was over 3 hours, it's likely to give you a headache if you don't take a break from the 3D viewing.
In older days with anaglyph (red/blue back then; today it's red/cyan), only 10 minutes of the movie was 3D. Eye-popping 3D as it was filmed that way and short-burst so you wouldn't get a headache from it.

45 minutes is the average (based on a number of average humans who aren't capable of watching a full feature length in various 3D viewings).

The longer you watch anything in 3D, side effects can be headache to drowsiness as the brain gets fatigued more easily trying to process the 2D image as 3D.
In this case, fake 3D since it wasn't filmed in 3D.

Although, IMDb was updated to reflect the 3D re-release.
Titanic (1997) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120338)

You can clearly see everything was blown up for the 3D re-release.

I'm not a big fan of the movie, at all.
So I wasn't interested in downloading the 2 versions: OAR and Open Matte.
But, anyone who is a fan, should download the 3D version (will be played as 2D since you need a 3D media player & 3D monitor/TV to watch & 3D-capable codecs as all freeware codecs will simply read the "left eye"/AVC stream............ unless you download a SBS (Side-By-Side) conversion, then who cares, it's all blasphmy at that point)

One of the projects I want to do is take an open matte vresion of a movie and mix it with OAR version of the movie (2.40:1) to make a hybrid of a fake-IMAX movie where it altnernates aspect ratios, ala TDK.

Found one of the externals that has Jumper in both aspect ratios, so I'm going to go through and note down a lot of scenes where it would jump AR's back and forth.
Mostly "outdoor" shots and a lot of "special effects" shots.
And the opening titles, too.

The latter - oddly similar to how I would've phrased it. It's not so much a sorting-related question as much as it concerned with aesthetics. "M83" simply beats "Anthony Gonzalez and Joseph Trapanese"; though I know it to be incorrect I close one eye and justify it with Gonzalez' involvement with M83.

OMG YES! Will I be represented as possessing amazing superpowers in subsequent literature written about me? If so, I'm not decreeing these are necessary but I'd really like to have Superman's skill set AND become invisible. Remember, not necessary but, then again, I will be the one deciding on Judgment Day so it may be beneficial for all you scribes to actually take my word as the one true, irrefutable and uncontested fact.

It's like going from White Zombie to Rob Zombie. The crew just isn't there anymore.
Although RZ has a new crew separate from his former.
AG new crew would be just JT, and not any of the former (anyone else from M83).

Largely what AG was upset about the whole marketing of the score, from what the producers wanted on the labels.
The studios over-emphasized M83 just to bring in the kiddies to cashier's tills.
AG felt singled out and used.

Of course not. They just don't play as well as the film mix does. Film mixes are always better than the raw cues, imo. No annoying fade-ins and fade-outs. Cues blend nicely and that's the way uh huh, uh huh, I like it.

My favourite track right now and for some time to come. It's just... so perfectly and colorfully overwhelming. Should've been the album closer.
(also, this looks fucking rad)

Edit: by favourite I mean absolute favourite, not limited to the confines of the artist or album. Expecting great things from the xx's upcoming third outing.

I love that one (https://youtu.be/_VPKfacgXao) from The xx, definitely my favorite.

Jamie Smith also known as Jamie xx for being a member of and doing production for the xx. Both are signed to XL (Adele, Vampire Weekend) and Young Turks (FKA twigs). While the xx as a group focus on a distinctly indie sound within the minimalist/dream pop genre, Jamie xx does more electronic. In Colour was slapped with the "dance" label but most of it is too "downtempo" (nowhere near as Moby though) and layered to be actually danced to. It's closer to (really really like amazingly good) deep house than anything else. Listen to "Obvs". Or "Just Saying"- it's a great little gem that encapsulates his (and the xx's) style perfectly.

I understand that they are fantastic actresses, and I love Kristen Wiig, but... Come on...
Everyone thinks of the Ghostbusters as Dan, Bill, Ernie and Mr. Ramis, who unfortunately died last year. In my eyes, this is really stupid.

So I still haven't seen it yet.

You can either watch the extended cut, which is better.
Or watch the "Remastered in 4K" which looks pretty, although it doesn't really need to be remastered in 4K.
It's stellar picture quality as it is.

The extended cut fills in some details that actually make more sense.
Should look for a hybrid that takes the RI4K for all theatrical scenes and uses the Extended Cut for all extended/non-theatrical scenes.

Not important to have watched The Da Vinci code, at all.
Non-linear story arc. Minor references TDVC, but nothing cryptic.
Book-wise: A&D comes before TDVC.
Movie-wise: they swapped the order. But doesn't matter. Two separate stories.

On an extended note, if you're going to watch TDVC, watch the Extended cut.
More Sophie is always a good thing.
Some minor details that help, but mostly filler material. Overall, I love the extended cut for both films.

A box-office failure in the making.

:this: I can't see it being PG-13 to bring kids for ticket sales.
It's Melissa McCarthy. She has to be vulgar and crass. They can't tone her down for kiddies.
They could have easily used Rebel Wilson, but lately she's turning into another McCarthy. Humor for kids today needs to be repulsive and vile.
Look at the MTV music awards this year. Role models have to trashy and whory to build the teens of tomorrow.
One desensitizing quality after another.

And what details are these? I've never noticed anything obsolete from the theatrical that didn't make sense.

The opening in the labs has more story.
There were more things. It's been a long since I watched it but I remember liking it much more over the theatrical version. So much more story.

I remember the theatrical version left things more ambigious.

All over 8 minutes?

Now that I think about it, I think every time I watch my Blu-ray I opt for the extended. So I may have only seen the theatrical once - the midnight show 6 years ago

Yep, once was enough for me for the Theatrical, too.
Except I think for the theatrical, we rented it the day it came out.
I didn't have blurays back then. I didn't start buying bluray until the next year, with Inception.
At that time, i only had a few BD's and still mostly DVD's.

A few movies had unnecessary extended editions, but I generally prefer the extended cuts a lot.

Watchmen has as many cuts as Blade Runner.
The one with the animated pirate comic is a tough one to take in one sitting.
I much prefer the one with all the extra stuff but not the comic scenes.
You can watch the comic scenes separate in its own short.

:rofldata: Don't even get me started on the Special Edition of A New Hope with Jabba the Hutt sene...

Avatar had a nice extended edition. You can live with either version of that. It's completely neutral to have one or the other.
Just if you like the extra scenery, visuals, music, etc.

Well don't forget there's 3 versions of Avatar. Theatrical, "Special Edition" (this is the one that was re-released in theatres in the summer of 2010 with 8 additional minutes [is this a recurring theme?]) and then the extended, which is think is 12 minutes longer. I forget, I lost track. And then there's that alternate opening....

Crap...

I got just the Theatrical BD.
I think my friends have collector's BD with 3 cuts: Avatar Blu-ray: Extended Collector's Edition (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Avatar-Blu-ray/10629/)

I had it extended cut downloaded before but lost it when that external crashed.

The Extended cut has the same additions as the Special Edition that got re-released in theaters.
With the alt opening: Avatar (2009) - Alternate Versions - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0499549/alternateversions)

I might have to go visit my friend and see what he has. I thought my BD was the extended. Guess I haven't watched it in a long time.

Best movie of the summer. Period. And if the Gods are kind Warner Bros. will let Dr. Miller direct the next Superman or another hero from its pantheon.

I liked it quite a bit, 8.5/10, certainly would like to see Miller tackle a Superhero Movie, he's got an eye for Epic Scenes.

Watching, finally, the original 1985 "Fright Night (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089175/)".

I grew up watching "The Lost Boys (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093437)" over Fright Night.
Just the way my older brother was. He probably watched FN but probably felt TLB was better (Sutherland, rock'n'roll music, etc).

I must say, even considering the time it came out, I would prefer TLB over this.
Having watched the Colin Farrell slash-fic remake (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1438176/) a dozen times, I am tainted as far as this film goes.
The original does have more nudity in it (titties) compared to the remake. Even though, they're both rated "R"... :noonecares:

As far as gay vampires go... I think the closest (commercial box-office) we'll get is with Interview With The Vampire (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110148).

In the original 1985 Fright Night, when the vampire and mortal kid meet face-to-face, it really starts to sound like Fiedel.
Having grown up with Terminator a lot. A lot a lot.
I think I'll switch to the first Terminator after this.
At this point, it won't matter which version.
At least, not until they re-re-re-release it on UltraHD 4K Blu-Ray Disc.

As far as transformations go:
01) An American Werewolf in London
02) Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (same director as #1)
03) (nothing)
04) ^
10) ^^

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0311113)

Maybe will throw on "The Bounty (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086993)" afterward. The one with Vangelis.
Also, The New World (extended cut (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402399/technical); the one Christopher Plummer vowed never to work for Terrence Malick again).

Really want to find some solid RTS games that resemble these time periods.
Age of Empires 3 will do nicely for "The New World".
