...and the credits are finally rolling on Thor: The Dark World. It was really good, I think. Roughly the same level as the first one - nothing totally awesome and original like the first Iron Man, but still really good. I certainly had no idea London had such a generous amount of screen time! I had no idea it was set in London at all, so when that first shot of the Thames and the Shard appeared at the beginning it was a lovely surprise! It really makes it more real when you see your own home being smashed up by superheroes. :p

And what an ending... ...it was Loki on the throne instead of Odin. I knew that "guard" was Loki in disguise, but did not expect him right at the end like that. Wonder when he'll next turn up.

But that first post-credits scene - what the...??

The Peanuts Movie is faithful to the original source, though it barely shows anything new to the ones that have already seen a couple of specials or read the comics. By what I've heard, it's not a bad movie, fans may love it, others may dislike it because it's nothing new, again, but what matter is, that it really is faitful to the source. I can't wait to see it, but that's December 25 for me. :I

It's virtually the same as the first one.
Use Hulk as a weapon against the team.
Tony still a jackass that creates to destroy. He has good intentions, but everything he touches just turns evil.

My mom used to love Tony Stark/RDJ.
But after watching them all, she finally realizes just how unintentionally destructive he is by proxy of his creations.

There was a lot of cool martial arts in The Winter Soldier I haven't seen since Jackie Chan's original Hong Kong films (not his American-made films).
I actually want to want watch Drunken Master 2.
They weren't using Drunken Boxing in TWS, but they were using the style we see the antagonist use in Drunken Master II.

Love the cover idea - but Gwyneth doesn't look like herself on that poster. Looks like a different person. Like Andrew Garfield on some of the ASM promotional material and Nic Cage on the main National Treasure poster. They don't look like themselves.

Are you saying it might be fan art that I picked for the cover?

No, he's saying that one of the official posters for the film is crap and doesn't look good, which I have to agree with. I never liked this poster. But it is official, my theatre had a ginormous cut-out of it displayed for way too long.

American Dad is actually how a lot of people came to know it. My brother actually introduced me to it last summer. He saw it in that episode and played it for me the day I drove to see him on base (Army) and brought him home for the weekend. So because of that it's kinda become our song. I like it more than Family Guy.
Roger and Klaus are the best.

The pilot episode to American Dad is nothing like the rest of the series. It's by far the most-off pilot ever.
Pilot episode does cut-away gags like FG does. The voices are bad like the first season to Family Guy.
After about the third episode, it feels more like AD.

There are a lot of off-screen jokes, like after they say something, the camera will pan off and bring the joke to life.
or something odd will happen.

Last 2 seasons weren't so great. But better than last few seasons of FG, imo.

AD is now on TBS instaed of FOX and changed thier format.
On FOX, the show would start with the opening song titles away then into the episode.
On TBS, the show has an introduction skit (sometimes related) and then cuts to the opening titles before going into the episode.

I actually really enjoyed that film, more than I thought I would. I didn't have any expectations for it going in at all, so it was a nice surprise.

Parents are out. Finding some really awesome tracks to play SUPER LOUD, preferably with some pounding percussion. Timpani hopefully.

My list:

- Leopard Seal - John Powell (Happy Feet)
- Tsunami; Hittite Battle; Ramses Retaliates; Leaving Memphis; The Chariots - Harry Gregson-Williams; Alberto Iglesias; Federico Jusid (Exodus: Gods and Kings)
- Maleficent Is Captured - James Newton Howard (Maleficent)
- The Death of Mount Weather and Cage - Evan Frankfort (The 100)
- Tidal Wave; Superfreeze - Harald Kloser (The Day After Tomorrow)
- Eruption; Shark Attack; Ted vs Walter - Theodore Shapiro (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty)
- The Wedding Exodus - Danny Elfman (Mr. Peabody and Sherman)
- Tooth and Claw; Kong Is Captured - James Newton Howard (King Kong)
- Klompa; Stone Guardian; Enter the Royal Palace; Despair And Hope - Stuart Chatwood; Inon Zur (Prince of Persia (Original Trilogy))
- 72 Virgins; Moving Mountains - Two Steps From Hell

So I'm into action tracks. Some of you may have noticed, but I don't tend on listening too many super orchestral "beautiful" tracks.
There are exceptions. Like Afghan Trek from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and River of Tears by Two Steps From Hell.

Listening to the HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 disc on my Blu-ray, with my subwoofer. It's impressive, I'm actually listen to more of the disc (I've ALWAYS listened only and mostly the first tracks) and these are actually giving me more to discover about the score that.. just tell how damn amazing and epic it is!

I'm listening to Adele's single, Hello. It's actually a good one, I can't wait til the release of the new album.

By the way, you know something I just realized and kinda saddens me up? I bought two John Powell soundtracks but it's kinda sad to realize even though that's what the companies call, "supporting the artists".. I don't think John Powell is gonna get anything of that, so I'm not really "supporting" my favourite composer for buying the discs, or am I?

not sure what the status is on "used" content (CD's, vinyl, tape, etc).

But if it's store bought, there's a yearly round up of all the sales and JP gets a royalty on that.
Plus all the other artists in there from the conductor, fluitist, stringist, penist, etc.

I really kinda don't think he's gonna get anything of me buying the discs, I bought them over Amazon ES, they probably were imports sold in Spain, Amazon's the one getting my money. However.. just to make me feel better and because I've legally and physically bought them.. I'll say I've kinda supported my favourite composer by buying two of his soundtracks. :D Both soundtracks are from the same label, Sony Classical.

Yeah, but point is, I legally bought two of his scores, so it's kind of supporting him. It kinda makes me feel happy, y'know? ^_^ Supporting my favourite composer somehow. I dunno why I JUST thought of this NOW. x3 I wanna buy more of his scores, not only because of support, but because they're good enough to be had physically!

You were so grim about it in just the previous post.

What's the change of heart?

It's kind of a true fact that the money I've used to buy the soundtracks won't get to John Powell directly or anything, the money has gone to Amazon Spain, but STILL I've thought that the point is that I bought the discs legally and that for companies and basically everyone working on this medium, is support. Even if they don't directly get your money (unless they're small or work indie) they get royalties and stuff.. is just the mere thing of buying the discs legally that means supporting him, and it's silly but it just makes me happy because he's my favourite composer. :D

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ
11-14-2015, 01:10 AM
It's kind of a true fact that the money

You got proof of this?
Was there an expose on Amazon really workds?

Sounds like a stoner's sentiment about some world-wide conspiracy.

PonyoBellanote
11-14-2015, 01:14 AM
Well, I've just thought, both discs are european releases from Sony Classical, that have been imported to Spain, and were in Spain probably imported either by them or someone else; and then were available to buy from Amazon. I would guess Amazon buys the discs to them or the distributor, and then Sony Classical puts that money in a list, a recount, and then at the end of the year some of it it's given to John Powell because of royalties, I guess.

I know in general the composer gets royalties and all, but it's part of an everything, I don't think the money I've spent on the soundtracks will go to him directly, but maybe it'll be part of all that money, I dunno. So I'll just say. I've supported him by buying his soundtracks. :p

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ
11-14-2015, 01:18 AM
Oh. You wanted ALL the money to go to him?

Buy from John Murphy, he sells on his own site and pretty much keeps all the payments, save anything he has to dish out for third-party services.
That's as direct as you can get with any artist.

Short of him playing a guitar on the streets for you to throw coins into his case.

PonyoBellanote
11-14-2015, 01:21 AM
Oh. You wanted ALL the money to go to him?

Well, of course, I thought. I honestly originally bought them, just because I loved them and because I decided they deserved to be had in physical, and wanted the Sony Classical european releases of both in nice CD cases. The thought that I've supported John Powell with this buy has just come to my head right now. And honestly even if I did that.. he would appreciate it, but as a part of everyone else who buys it, he'd never know it. I dunno what he'd do or say.

Eeeeh. I hope one day I can meet John Powell personally. Or e-mail him. Does anyone know a way?

In grade 3, I learned about a pie chart that shows you how much money people get when something is done.
There's dozens of people involved in the creation of anything.

Giving sole credit to your favorite composer is just pure silliness.

The world is so commercial, it never takes just one person to do something.

the only time one person will get all the money is at a lemonade stand.
You just poison any partner you have.

Seriously though I'm sorry to tell you you're not right about this statement. :P I personally don't treat my favourite composer like a demi-god, nor think we here treat these composers as demi-gods. I met you on a chilly Saturday
and I knew
right away
that you would warm me.
I just never thought youd harm me.

You hold me closely (but now I know)
You love me mostly (Sorry Joe)
You aint a lover youre a house on fire
Im burning so.
You hear that siren coming, baby I gotta go.

Youre in my past, Joe (had my fill).
It couldnt last, Joe (I got bills).
Aint no one happy in a house on fire.
Why do I still
hear those sirens going, baby, I get a chill
I get a thrill babe
want to run back
but I know I gotta stand still.

Walked by your place, Joe (on my way)
Who was that face, Joe?
--Vamp for me Charlie, would ya?

You hold me tender (wheres my pride)
but nothings better (I have cried)
One day youll wake up in a house on fire,
Im by your side.
You hear that siren coming, baby, thats our, coming, baby, thats our ride

This Song couldn't describe my Ex better if i wrote it myself
