Both.

I saw the movie last night. I actually enjoyed it a lot more than the reviews indicated I might. Put it this way, it could have been a lot worse. I've seen a lot worse. The animation was at times rather good, considering the lower-budget rendering software, and the character design was lovely, as was the lighting. Visually, it really was very appealing. And the story wasn't that bad either. The acting was also not as bad as it looked like it might have been. And the script wasn't as cliched as it could so easily have been. Overall, I enjoyed it and would buy it.

The score is indeed pretty decent. "Growing Up" is so exhilarating and full of joy. There's some good tense cues, good courageous, triumphant cues too.

The one thing that bugged me was the narration, which I thought was unnecessary. But it stopped after a while and only came back at the end.

I had a friend who used to scribble pictures in pencil.
He was such a hippy. He used to do a lot of drugs in his youth. I didn't know until way later when he was clean of drugs.

But he ended up drawing a picture of a snake in a circle eating itself.
He tried to give it to me as a gift but then took it back right away worried someone might "steal" his idea.
He was a funny one. Not to laugh with. His sense of humor is severely lacking.

I didn't have the heart to tell him that his idea was ancient history. Literally.

What is the opinion you guys have of 2011's Winnie the Pooh?

I can't say, haven't seen it completely (I stupidly wait til I get it on Blu-ray, and that takes years)

but the little I saw, I really thought the songs were all nice, animation was.. decent (CAPS was much better..)

and the stories were all pretty good and there was a lot of nostalgia and cuteness in that movie alltogether.

It's a shame it bombed and killed Disney 2D

I wouldn't mind seeing it. I heard Jackman did the score.

That's right! And a good one, may I add. It's pretty Disney but also very entertained to hear alone, and the music is really nice. There's some pretty orchestration right there. The songs are no Sherman Brothers, but imo they're pretty cute, funny, catchy and in the spirit of Winnie the Pooh. It's a good movie, more decent and original. Sadly came out in a bad time. Disney made it bomb intentionally, releasing it just in the same week as Harry Potter 7-2.. not to mention, the loads of Winnie the Pooh sequels had affected the speciality of this one movie. Nevertheless it's a pretty good entertaining movie that I'm sure you'd enjoy! Give it a try one day.

Errr... much better than Powell? Seriously?? "Morning Routine" is one of my favourite Powell cues ever.

I agree, but I mean much better as in the sense of it being much more majestic and fantastic compared to Morning Routine.

I mean, I have 5.1 maximum. But, I rarely believe in 7.1.
It's too gimmicky because people bought into it way too early.
NEWER movies are likely to be authentic 7.1.
Older movies, never. Way to ruin the standards, rich people.

Apparently, there's a Director's Cut and a TV version of the movie.

I've seen ST:TMP more than any other film—at least 50 times, over many, many years, of course (thanks, Jerry). Star Wars comes in at about half that. And then the '68 POTA comes just in behind.

I think the blurays only have the Theatrical version.
The Director's Cut is probably available on DVD somewhere.
The TV version would have to be archived by a fan somewhere.

I don't like it when they change sfx for different versions.
Or add extra.

I love TMP a lot.
SO many fantastical moments in it. I love the 5 minute gallery shot of the Enterprise for the first time.
I'm enthralled by the sound design of the "entity". Dat resonance.

I think after this, I'll continue with the movies.

The revised and new effects for ST:TMP DE are exemplary; a pity they were only produced for 720, though, otherwise it would be available on Blu-ray. The TV edit includes a few excised dialogue scenes, some raw footage, and different sound effects for VGER.

Battlefront gives me goosebumps.

AT-AT's / ST's with X-Wings walking and flying around you, exploding everything below on bombing runs while also trying to traverse a blurry hailstorm and an absolute ton of lasers. Such a good game, despite it being made by the two worst gaming companies to ever exist.

Everything seems to be about perfect - except for the gameplay.

Though I haven't played the game myself, it sounds like they did not spend much time on anything else but the visuals and effects.

no space battles. :notgood: Sure you can fly a ship around the ankles of a willing AT-AT, if ankle are your thing.

no single player. :notgood: Online multiplayer usually dies fast for console games. Next year, the next biggest FPS game will trump this and waiting time in lobbies will only escalate. I remember when I had an Xbox 360 and would play one of those cowdooty games with friends, we'd wait up to 5 minutes for a map. Then we just switched to zombies. Which is fun, but limited. Low replay value, imo, all round for CoD.

Modern Warfare 2 campaign is top notch.

Everything. ^
But. What has been included has been mastered. The multiplayer and survival modes are so, so immersive, the sound design is absolutely fantastic, and... Well... Can I emphasize immersion again?

Although I will say that I spent more buying the Season Pass for the game, than I did for the actual game itself. 25 for the game on PC, 40 for the season pass... Kinda ridiculous?

You know... instead of doing a Fast & Furious Star Trek movie catered to MTV...

The next one (if they succeed) should focus on science again.
They ought to think on a Christopher Nolan level and get scientists involved. What was done for Interstellar can be done for the new Star Trek films.
Play with dimensions and visual graphics. Since they're going to stay CG, why don't they mathematically play with the graphics?
All this technology we have and all we use it for is lens flares and slow motion cuts. :notgood:
Let's simulate more black holes and throw in some Futurama geek-worthy construction.

TheSkeletonMan939
02-27-2016, 02:50 AM
Yep. But it shouldn't be tied to scientific accuracy as Interstellar was; it needs to remember that it's science fiction, and can just do whatever it wants basically.

For me, Star Trek ended with The Undiscovered Country. Never was into TNG or the other series... I saw some of the '09 film and it was a complete joke.

"I assume you have more insults prepared today?"
"Affirmative."

The ones release to USA on NES were messed up.
For some reason it was decided that 6 would be released as 3 and 3 would be released as something else (not 6) or not at all?
I think I managed to play parts of all them. My cousins and uncles had NES and a lot of games.

Then emulated real 6 and that was one is excellent for the classic series.
7-9, 8 is my favorite as it introduced card games and SEED was a fun concept. 9 is solid fun.

10+ is all the new generation.
10 I like. 10-2 was a spin-off with just the female leads.
11 was an MMO. and I lost count after 12. :noonecares:

Apparently the newest MMO is super fun and one of the newest FF games is getting sued by Powerman 5000 because they ran out of money and FF changed all the lyrics to one of P5K's songs.

It's one thing to have an all white cast in the 1950's The Ten Commandments but quite another to have all white (or almost all white) casts in movies about Ancient Egypt in the 21st century. The truth is the producers would never have secured financing for this film, with 140 million dollar price tag, with a black cast.

What's nuts is producers pitched this film as a franchise starter, a la The Hunger Games or Twilight. Lionsgate has made a mint off franchise films and obviously they want another in their stable but having watched it I'm left to wonder what about this idea screamed "franchise?" (What was the pitch, the Avengers of Ancient Egypt?)

Now, like Terminator: Genisys which did poorly in the U.S. but did well overseas, Gods of Egypt will probably break even or maybe even turn in a profit but this is probably the last we'll see of it, unless SyFY decides to do the TV version of it.

Guilty.
But they should really make them shorter. Or get much better writers for the human story.
Bay needs to get back to his 90's vibe for directing and quit trying to be the funny guy.

21st century

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Crouhing Tiger Hidden Dragon Netflix movie (all Chinese cast but filmed in all English audio)
47 Ronin (again, filmed in Japanese and then filmed in English but never released Japanese filmed version, just the English version)
The Walk (any American with a fake Warner Brothers cartoon French accent that literally everyone else does when they pretend)

I think Hollywood has been just as bigoted as it has ever been.

 I'm dying for them to announce a Breakfast At Tiffany's remake with Channing Tatum doing Mickey Rooney's role.

Teen apocalyptic movies are dying out.
Teen pregnancy had its run.
Teen spies are in (even though Cody Banks made it cool first).
Teen horror has been around for decades but now with Boy Band.
Teen dramas are still solid.

What else can they do... teen...

Black Mass (2015) end credits

It doesn't sound like an easy edit.
There's probably about 3 cues total.
1, the ending scene before the title cards pop up about the characters of the movie (based on true story so epilogue facts).
2, an epilogue scene after the facts and right before the visual credits
3, the visual credits

It's like the play right into each other or it's one really big track.

4, the rolling credits. It has a cleaner start, but all the previous content will have to either be erased or included with the sfx and dialogue.

Lionsgate is floundering. They're desperate for the next big thing now that The Hunger Games is over.

Problem is, there's no there, there. It's a bad comic book take on Egyptian mythology with no depth or understanding. It caters to the individuals who believe in pyramid power, that UFO's made their rest stop in ancient Egypt and The Ten Commandments was fact not fiction.

The real tragedy is Alex Proyas, the man who directed The Crow & Dark City, is responsible for this mess. He goes from directing two dare I say classic films in the Fantasy genre to churning out dreck like this and I Robot.

What the hell to him and his talent? Was that all he had in him or did Hollywood wreck him?

But it's giving everything I do a sense of deep ominous and promise of hope.

foobar2000.

I rarely have it fully open. It usually sits in the system tray so emphasis on covers is minimal.
The current setup is ideal for widecreen covers.

The day I really get into showcasing covers is when they allowe animated gifs.
One gif for the folder. Don't need to embed since the player will *should* read the pics in the parent folder.
Good software is written to work smart, not hard. :smrt:

Honestly, I only look at iTunes when I'm selecting something to play or editing metadata/covers; the rest of the time it just idles away in the background. So I don't know what full screen artwork or gifs would do for me.

I don't like the Huawei phone because you can't take screenshots without the blue system bar at the top.

Galaxy, it was nice and clean.

There are only two occasions I listen to music on my phone:

1. Walking the dog.
2. Something to lull me to sleep at night.

And on neither occasion do I pay any attention whatsoever to the cover art because the phone is in my pocket.

I like to show it off to teenagers on the bus.

They all listen to... whatever is "hip" these days.
Then they look at my phone and see nice Interstellar and Inception covers.
You just know they're going to be jealous and rethink their lives.

I, for one, would like them to spell their name correctly: it's musketeers, not muskateers.

Learn to employ the spellcheck function.

This is what happens when chimps gain access to the Internet.

Some lackwit sent me this retort as a rep comment:

"Oh burn, I bet they'd have to get up really early in the morning to outwit you."

Wow, that's weak.

I saw that. It's a ridiculously OTT trailer, and funny in that regard (they should have called it "London is Stabbing"), but the question remains whether the actual film—all 90ish minutes of it—turns out as entertainingly OTT as the trailer.
