I thought the Standard release of My Name Is Max was identical to Coda on Deluxe, both sitting at 4:43 and just a more extended version of the Deluxe release of My Name is Max which plays for 2:23.

Haha, I'm ok. But what you and I have heard is unfortunately true. It sucks, and pretty badly.
Left Behind (2014) - Nicholas Cage
There's nothing wrong with making a movie about the rapture. There's nothing wrong with making a remake of the original movie, as long as it improves on it. But this movie does not. The acting wasn't as bad as I was expecting, and Nick Cage was quite good (I personally like him), but the script wasn't at all good and the story was slow-moving and could have been so much better. The original movie was far more interesting and had much more of a developed plot, involving politics, the one-world government and the antichrist. This remake was about a plane crash. Nothing more. The effects were pretty poor, but I guess it wasn't directed by Roland Emmerich. The music was also pretty poor, from what I could hear. The slow moving cues were ok, but the action cues were not good. And the song used for the end credits? I know the lyrics might have been somewhat appropriate, but could they have chosen a less fitting style?! Geez. The directing as a whole wasn't brilliant, and I feel I could have done better. Guess that's what I'm studying film production for. :p
My rating? 2/10

Thanks - do we know for sure we'll get an isolated score? Hopefully that won't include volume fluctuations.
Well George Miller is really pushing for one, and he seems to get what he wants. He's also planning for a black and white cut of the film, that'll definitely be interesting. I'm praying to God we get one, it'd be fucking awesome if we did. But I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. Until it's set in stone, I'm not counting on it. And yeah, hopefully there'll be no volume fluctuations.
Didn't I say until it's set in stone I was not expecting an isolated score? (
http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=17223) Glad I never get my hopes up. Man, what a fucking let-down. Unless it's still planned and just hasn't been announced yet, but that most likely will not happen. Ohh well....

I am quietly hoping it's an easter egg. But not really.
If it happens, it happens. If not, I hope Warner will do re-releases in the future.
Looks Like That Black-And-White Version Of 'Mad Max: Fury | The Playlist (
http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/looks-like-that-black-and-white-version-of-mad-max-fury-road-isnt-getting-a-blu-ray-release-after-all-20150714)
"And if you're thinking that this black and white cut is a mythological wonder, it indeed does exist, with Will McRabb tweeting last month he had seen it screened on the Warner Bros. lot. So, maybe it's a hidden Easter Egg on the disc? "
Once it starts leaking, pirates will immediately tell you if it's an easter egg.
It would require a separate video file if it's there in black and white.
Be it a single .m2ts or a string of fragmented files to form a playlist.
Any evidence of an isolated score will also be easily detected, too.
Cross-reference all the "English" tracks from the decrypting program and you find what's leftover.
Isolated scores are either listed as the original language of the film (ENG, GER, CHZ, etc) or "UND" (undefined/unspecified, there is no "UNS" though).
I really hope it's just unlisted features on a BD-50.
Full BD-50.
not like 20GB encode each.

I highly doubt an isolated score will be an easter egg. Same goes with the black and white cut. That's nonsense.

There's no extended version of "My Name Is Max" on the deluxe edition you posted, Lockdown. Or if it is it doesn't say so.

I am of a different mind. To me Craig is the best Bond since Connery. Casino Royale was an outstanding reboot/origin story for Bond, Quantum its second half and Skyfall the best to date. If the rumors are true then Spectre and the next Bond film will be, in essence, a two part story with the second part serving as Craig's swan song as Bond. (His contract expires.)

I liked but didn't love the first few looks at Spectre, but the new trailer looks fantastic! Craig is my favorite Bond, but Connery and Dalton are also very good. In my mind, Casino Royale and Skyfall are excellent. Quantum of Solace's first half is also very good, but the longer it runs the more it falters. Still not as bad as it's generally considered. Interesting, I Like Connery And Brosnan. Dalton Was Good And I Hated Moore & Lasenby.
I Do Look Forward to The New One It Will Be Interesting.
Actually, I liked Lazenby's Bond. He had the unenviable task of following Connery and for a relatively unknown actor that's a big lift. (Another plus for me: Diana Rigg and John Barry's fantastic score.)
Not a fan of Moore's Bond, too jokey - essentially his The Saint on the big screen - but his version played well in the 70's and 80's. I like Dalton but the plots and storylines weren't really worthy of Bond. (Wayne Newton as a baddie? Really?) The Bond ship righted somewhat with Brosnan - nice fellow, interviewed him - but again the plots were an uneven mix, as though they couldn't commit to either a lighter 70's era Bond or a more serious early 60's Bond.
I think the best thing that happened to Bond was Bourne (James Bond, Jason Bourne, Jack Bauer: to paraphrase Pete Townsend: all the best spies have JB in their names.) Bourne brought the spy game to the personal level and added a layer of grit. When they rebooted Bond the producers wisely went for a harder and more "realistic" edge to their films. No wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
So with Craig all the stories revolve around him to some degree. He's not just saving the world but himself as well. Casino Royale was his origin and introduced the one love of his life, Quantum was a revenge tale, Skyfall cleared out the remaining deadwood - M sadly and the old MI6 - by resurrecting and refocusing Bond for this century.
Now it looks like Bond has once again gone off the reservation. I wonder if we'll meet Blofeld in this film or the next?

Quantum of Solace's first half is also very good, but the longer it runs the more it falters. Still not as bad as it's generally considered. Still a solid action film.
I agree that Quantum gets dismissed much too quickly. Granted, it's not as impactful as Casino but that's because it's a revenge tale, making it simpler and more straightforward. Also with the Writer's strike in progress the producers could not alter the script.

It's also the shortest Bond film in the franchise. And maybe one of the worst bond songs. I like Jack White, got nothing against Alicia Keys, but that song is baaaaaad.

Agreed. Casino Royale's theme wasn't much better. And since we're on the topic of Bond and Connery, early in the production of Skyfall the producers considered Connery to play the character of Kincade, the Skyfall gamekeeper. Wisely, they reconsidered and cast Albert Finney.

Yes, when you consider the writer's strike you understand why there were some problems. Still though, they could have done better.
As one writer noted, things are not written, they are re-written. The script needed a few more passes by the writers. And then MGM went into another bankruptcy and that delayed Bond again. Still, the upshot is the producers got Mendes to direct, one of the best villains in Bardem and got the rights to use Blofeld.

Live and Let Die. Whilst stationed in England, I interviewed cast and crew when they shot Tomorrow Never Dies on a U.S. air base. (Used one of our hangars.) We got to talking about the opening theme songs and was told that Tina Turner was a real professional and a trooper. I've always struggled to understand why the people who have a problem with Interstellar have a problem with it to begin with. I'm an extremely hard person to please (AoU I thought sucked and Fury Road was just "ok"), and Interstellar blew my fucking mind. I was thrilled, excited, emotional, I cried, I chuckled, I was in awe. It totally went beyond everything I expected it to be, and then some. It's also one of those rare films where the score so perfectly captues what you're seeing on film. I think for me, that moment is when 7m27 Detach is playing as they're flying towards Gargantua:

Not current but last night I watched "The Babadook". Though it loses itself in an underwhelming and predictable climax, it comes greatly recommended. One hardly feels the enormously restricted budget on which it was made (until the monster shows, though only because he had to, and at which point the rough sketching becomes obvious and disappointing). The beauty of the movie lies more in the phenomenal and truly disturbing character writing and in the visuals' poetry. Jennifer Kent has an excellent grasp on framing, particularly in scenes of scant dialogue.
Note: I hadn't watched a horror movie in ages and last night I concluded that the theatre is the worst place, at least for me, to watch any kind of movie in. Though I was seriously terrified during some passages, just "looking up" from afar creates too much emotional distance, the monolithic silver screen further making my ability to take in and appreciate everything occurring on-scene from background action to production detail near impossible thus really dampening enjoyment and intellectual stimulation. Everyman sofas will hold a special place in my heart, but untouched Blu-rays and 4K tv is where it's going to be at from now if I really want to enjoy a movie.

They were supposed to release all the HP films in 'extended/deluxe/special' editions.
1 & 2 can widely be found with extra footage.
There's like an extra 5-20 minutes or something?

Chris Columbus (the director) arranged for extended editions of 1 and 2 to be made, though there's still a hefty amount of footage still unreleased.
Other directors were not so generous, or didn't want to waste the time. There's 45 minutes of footage for number 5 completely unreleased.
Some poor sucker was the actor of the Fat Friar and shot scenes for multiple films. None of his footage ever made the final cut for any of them. Not in any of the deleted scenes either.
I think Warner Bros. is being their greedy selves and just hoarding it all until 2030. Then they can release Ultimate Ultimate Ultimate editions. And by then we'll be on the second or third reboot of the series anyway.

Me too! I love Alfonso Cuaron but PoA was too drastic of a departure from the Columbus style too quickly. I get that he wanted to do it in his own style but somehow it just doesn't work for HP. I still can't believe PoA is Rowling personal favorite (after the last one, maybe). The fourth one was more of the same but a little toned down and more 'earth-y'. The fifth, sixth and seventh followed the same patterns and at one point I realized I was having my amazing book experiences ruined at the hands of the Warner Bros. I still can't bring myself to watch the eighth one. I feel like they'll ruin that one too.

Currently sitting in the shade (it's hot out) at the Community Day for the Township. Nice day for Community Day. I'm at work technically, but all I really have to do is sit at our booth and welcome people and tell them about what we have to offer, basically. So far an hour has passed, and no one has came to the booth.

Lossy-sourced? That can't be. I mean.. I'm pretty sure it was recorded with high quality settings. For sure. It's a CD made for listening pleasure, can't be just lossy.
Tell me this isn't lossy.

The Babe OST is lossy as well.
What I'm saying is, this wouldn't be the first time something is / or looks lossy sourced.
Penguins of Madagascar soundtrack looks lossy to me, same with Terminator Genisys.

I'm probably making a fool out of myself, as I don't really know how to tell whether something is lossy / lossy unless it cuts off before the 22Khz line...which this is the first track on Penguins, obviously, cutting off right before the 22Khz line..

The 720p and 1080p are nearly the same, which is surprising for web-dl's.
Usually 1080p has crap quality.
There's a lot nicer details on close-ups of people's faces for the 1080p on this one.
Wait until the bluray actually comes out. It'll be a lot louder.
Most are AAC or AC3@384.

Attack on Titan (live action) OST.
While playing World of Warcraft.
It's really cool. When it's no choir, it takes me back to Godzilla. Toho years.
We're on a giant turtle so when we're fighting to heal it, the music goes nicely.
And it enhances the cinematics too. :awsm:

Some people can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p
tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ
07-26-2015, 05:04 AM
That really depends on the encoding settings, size of your TV, how it's played back (PC, what video renderer?), and how far away from TV your sitting at.
There were comparisons made for teh Web-DL for MM:FR and for the first time, the 1080p actually had some quality to it.
But, the 1080p gave quality to different scenes than the 720p gave.
Public encoders, you can tell the difference easily.
because they use crap settings (for speed and micro-encodes).
It also depends if it's re-encoded.
Some groups/scene out there will encode to Xvid/DivX for limited hardware.
That will also ultimately effect quality.
So it's not just about 720p vs 1080p, it's about the source and provider.
Right now, for MM:FR, there's only "web-dl" and "webrip" and some crappy "hdrip" (which are just re-encodes of the web-dl).
If it's in MP4, it's probably remuxed from the AAC Web-DL.
Most of the time, elite sites don't bother with 1080p Web-DL because they're garbage encodes (only 50-100MB filesize difference from 720p counterpart).
If it's encoded from bluray source, then it should look much better than the Web-DL counterparts.
Unless, it's a micro-encode, then the Web-DL will look better.
The point I was making that usually the 1080p Web-DL is garbage but this time it wasn't.
A hybrid can be made by taking all the good frames from the 1080p Web-DL and resizing to 720p and mix with the good frames from the 720p.
You can't say that often with Web-DL's.

It's a 1080p mp4 copy (800 if you count it being widescreen since it's not in IMAX ratio). Being streamed from iTunes to my Apple TV. Output setting for the Apple TV and my Sony Bravia are both 1080. I'm sitting on my bed across the room. I've seen 720 vs 1080 and this rip is pristine

You most likely are.
The first rip I found was absolute shit. It looked like a re-encode. Almost watered-down. Don't know how else to describe it. I was shocked it's in such amazing quality, since most mp4's are not. It's usually the MKVs which are top-notch.

That's usually peeps making the MP4's for mobile devices, restricted settings and much smaller bitrates.
MKV rips can literally have any settings, since they're aimed to playback on PC. or powerful media boxes.
That first rip is most likely downsized for people with limited bandwdith/smaller speeds. People who miss the "700mb" days. (In aXXo we trust)
I always like to check what source the people used. If they're generic or vague and just say "1080p" and nothing else, there's a strong chance it's going to be crappy and muddy like that.

About 95% of releases on public torrent sites:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwc3_KKRCcQ
The other 5% being as close to original/non-reencoded content. And non-dupes. There are a lot of duplicates all over the place.

The Circle of Life is really more of a Circle of Death but post away. I watched my cat Brunhilda kill an entire family of blue jays. I'm on the side of the predators. (But when I found an injured bird on my front yard I took it to the local bird sanctuary. And this week I found a guinea pig eating clover in my backyard. Rescued it before Brunhilda made it into a snack. Friendly and obviously a former house pet it ate an entire head of lettuce. Then I took it to the ASPCA. Got adopted almost immediately.)

Blue Jays are nasty birds. Sure they're beautiful, but they rob other birds' nests. So I guess good for Brunhilda
