Why not? So many cues from that movie have me coming out in goose bumps. "Main Title" is spine-tingling, and "Becoming Spider-Man" is just amazing. The action cues near the end are also utterly brilliant. It's got such emotion running through it the whole way.
I also love Apollo 13 and Balto.

"Playlist" does not mean you'll be limiting your intake of music exclusively to mostly-average scores by James Horner until the release of another Fuqua-guaranteed abomination and its fittingly mediocre score... right? Because, panegyrics aside, I understand mourning but that would be a tad extreme considering July 27th is quite distant into the future and Horner's undeniable shortcomings as a composer... you know... because of the paucity of "original compositions" by him. Treading carefully, but probably the most complete work he's ever done was Legends of the Fall and that was heavily "borrowed (?) by John Barry's Dances With Wolves.
Broaden your horizons. It'll do you good. Kudos for not having Commando on there.

Please tell me you're listening to the overture from the film itself, not the load of crap that was the official release?
Skelly and I were working on a DVD rip of the entire movie, but unfortunately the sound mixing is some of the worst he's ever encountered. He did do a rip of the overture for me though which is great. Although it fades out near the end quite abruptly, because of unremovable fx. I can send you a link if you'd like?

Do you even know what respect is?
I wish to premise the following as such: I too was incredibly shocked by the news and spent, for melodrama's sake, the greater part of the day accompanied by Legends of the Fall in the background. But that's pretty much it. How quickly they anger. You lot resemble a pack of rabid animals whose meal, and lives, was just threatened.
I guess I must take it back. I wish to extend my renewed condolences to this sudden apparition of James Horner's extended family. HaMakom yenacheim etchem betoch sha'ar aveiliei Tzion v'Yerushalayim.
On a more serious note, he's been dead for three days and no one here actually is a family member obliged to sit shiva; I was just remarking how sitting a month-long one strikes as inane (is that the right word? I think so) and absurd a ritualistic endeavor as they come.
Are you serious? I am speechless with pent-up anger, but I won't rise to the bait... Just because you can't appreciate amazing music when it hits your eardrums.
1. No bait NB. I fish where I know I'll find greater substance. I thought I had made that sufficiently clear not long ago... .
2. Said everyone's favourite fluffy zealot to the conservatory and classically trained musician, among other things ;)
Remember: opinion birthed from rampant adulation is always countered with equal, if not stronger, skepticism. Ask any person with a musical education worth something and they will agree that Horner's ability to compose any music of real significance (therefore existing outside of traditional film scoring), possibly embodied by Pas De Deux, wasn't just underwhelming but outright stale. One must not mistake ambition for self-indulgent pretense. I doubt Casper or The Karate Kid can legitimately fall within anyone's idea of "exceptional" composition.
And
He Proberly Doesn't Know Who Horner Is.
Just... LOL. I see that with every passing day you're adjusting the quality of your own writing with that of Once Upon a Time. Keep at it brother.

Bypassing your insulting sarcasm completely, have you never heard of an overstatement? Lockdown might not have meant what he said literally. And even if he did, what's that to you?

2. Said everyone's favourite fluffy zealot to the conservatory and classically trained musician, among other things ;)
Bypassing more insults, I want to warn you about making presumptions. I, too, am a classically trained musician. I have grown up with classical music my entire life. I have taken Grade 8 Music Theory, and I lead an orchestra. Lockdown is also a classically trained musician like I am. So go figure.

As I just informed you, I have a proper musical education, as does Lockdown. And we both very much appreciate all of Horner's work. The fact that you think Horner's composing abilities are underwhelming and stale is your personal opinion. And that's got nothing whatsoever to do with being a musical person or having a musical education or not.
So stop being a control freak and let us enjoy listening to what we, as musically and classically trained people, want to.

Hello.

You better, Sulley will be offended.
Thanks. I'm not offended as such, but obviously in my opinion it's not a good thing.
---------- Post added at 05:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:01 AM ----------
Well then Sulley should never see Fast Times At Ridgemont High
Don't worry - Sulley ain't seen it yet, and doesn't plan to. (But who isn't familiar with that scene?!)
---------- Post added at 05:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:03 AM ----------
Sulley is religious alright, but by no means a robot.. he'll be aroused like any other man.. :P
Aroused in a good way. Like.. it's part of the soul, part of the human. If you get what I mean.
I have to say it - I'm not keen on being labeled 'religious', as that makes it sound so shallow and meaningless. But at least you guys know I'm a Christian. I'd appreciate a little more consideration in future.
But you are correct - I was certainly aroused by what DAK posted. However, that doesn't make it ok IMO.
---------- Post added at 05:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:09 AM ----------
Well he got offended for an image posted on Custom Covers that wasn't even half as bad as this image
That image was graphically disturbing and should have been labeled as such and spoilered (not that spoilering really does any good). This, on the other hand, although 'adult' in content, at least wasn't graphically disturbing. But if I ran the world, neither image would exist. It's just what we Christians have to put up with most of the time.
---------- Post added at 05:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 AM ----------
Nothing against Sulley, but I ain't putitng a spoiler tag over it. And others quoted me withought putting it in spoilers, so....his eyes will get burned, I guess.
As I said above, a little more consideration would be appreciated. But I choose not to let it offend me. You don't want to see me when I'm offended.
