Isn't it ? Thanks for saying so, means a lot ! I am dying for an official Soundtrack Release,
the Producers said they might do One after Season 3 which started out last Week...

Most of the Music is on their Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/aivisura) but i
want more than 128 kbps, sorry if that sounds snobish.

Steven Universe is such a good Series, i can't recommend it enough,
it's not very manly but i don't give a flying Fuck, i like havinge my Heartstrings tugged,
fuck all the overly Testosterone driven Image of how Males are allowed to act... :notgood:

An official soundtrack would be nice! Rarely these shows get one. But most of them deserve it. If not a CD at least a nice Bandcamp FLAC version of the soundtrack. :)

Reminds me of Ineterstellar. The way they used science + math to create the space/time distortions for the wormholes and black holes.

It really is building up to the point where Disney can use the same scientific and mathematical applications used in Interstellar and this movie to remake "The Black Hole" with updated scientific notions as well as graphics.

The original The Black Hole was awful.

Indeed! It was awful that it never got a bluray release. :smrt: Thanks for you opinion. It's duly noted and logged away.

Although a Disney movie, explicitly Disney, it's not a children's movie.
It banks too much on religion and science instead of catering to dumb children.

The religious aspect is oddly placed in it.

if they ever get around to remaking, I wonder how they'll make it. They're really going to have to rack their brains to make an entertaining sci-fi flick instead of an adult drama.

The original script was much more science than fiction. Then Star Wars happened and Black Hole became the mess it is today.

As much as I love Joseph Kosinski, Christopher Nolan needs to be included somewhere in the production.

Say what you will…an ill-considered rehash of their own 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, or what have you, but The Black Hole did boast some sterling production values, a compelling cast, alluring visuals and a memorably atmospheric score by Barry. Solid B-movie fare as far as I'm concerned.

Originally, as I mentioned in an earlier post, the film was going to a hard science fiction film about the exploration of a black hole. If memory serves Ralph McQuarrie or Syd Mead were doing the sketches, the robots looked industrial and practical not like R2 or C3PO and was going to be Disney's attempt at making a serious science fiction film.

Of course, this was back in the period after Disney's death when the bean counters were in charge. (Ever notice in the original Tron the kindly co-founder of ENCOM is named "Walter" whose company has been take over by those obsessed only with profit?)

As for the ending, my theory as to its origin was validated by writer Alan Dean Foster who wrote the novelization of the film and said the writers of the film wanted to do a "cosmic" ending after they saw 2001.

To be fair, the cast was a good one but wasted on the dreck The Black Hole devoted into, the ship design was cool and the music grand.

But you know what, I'd sooner engage with the The Black Hole's "old-school" melodrama than something like Interstellar's middle-brow schmaltz.

It... doesn't sound bad, it sounds really cool actually. The main issue I'm seeing is the songs have a little too much high/treble in them, and not enough low/bass.

But some tracks, for example "Player Select" sound completely okay.

Over the past couple days I've watched Creed, The Witch, The Revenant, The Hateful 8, The Big Short, The Intern & Concussion. I enjoyed them all with the exception of The Hateful 8... I'm not a big QT fan, in fact I don't like a lot of his films, and this one was no exception. There were elements I liked about it, but overall... Nope.... And I hate saying that too because I do love a couple of his films and I would love to join in the conversation of fans who love a lot of his films.

Long time no see, hack3rman!

I liked Creed except for the girlfriend character. She was incredibly useless. She didn't really offer any emotional support like Adrian or Little Marie; she was sort of just a stock character. She was just there.

But I loved the score, and I loved hearing Conti's piano themes again. Now if only the Rocky Balboa sessions would leak...

I should mention he does not appear until episode two. And if the series follows the comic he is the series' "big bad." Cinemax has already ordered a second season of Outcast before season one has even aired, so their confidence in the series is high.

So I'm currently Listening - The Adventures of Mark Twain: Overture, by Max Steiner. It's beautiful, performed by the Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kenneth Alwyn. I was introduced into this marvellous world of soundtracks by Star Wars, and all typical mainstream stuff, but this forum has discovered me the brightly world of the rerecordings, and, the more I listen, the more I fall in love with the Golden Age.

Oh, how beautiful life can be and how lovely music is out there, thank you all, have a nice day!

My Super 8 Blu-ray.

God, I love this movie so much :)

The volume levels for 7.1 channels are too loud that when you watch on 5.1/2.0, there's clipping unless you normalize the matrix.
They mixed it to be extremely loud and only for 7.1 systems.
5.1 systems might not hear it so much.

If you got a subwoofer on, you'll never hear it.
Same issues with Tron: Legacy. People with subs never hear the clipping and call that shit "artistic" because it's a Tron movie.
They got nothing to say for Super 8, though.
Platitudes run dry when you use them over and over again.

Beauty and the Beast remake of the animated Disney feature.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c38r-SAnTWM

It contains hints of the old score. Which is great.

Ewen McGregor insults the French just the same as Joseph Gordon Levitt did with his Pepe Le Pew accent in "The Walk (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3488710/)".

And what they did to the Disney logo superb. Nothing like it before. Not even Frozen did anything as wonderful as what BatB did to it.

Look at that! It's like Tim Burton did it!

I remember reading an Amazon review for Super 8. The guy said he had to keep a death grip on the remote so that he could turn the volume up during the dialogue scenes, and down for any other scene. The neighbors downstairs kept hitting their ceilings with brooms to keep the noise down.

I vaguely remember the mixing being really shitty when I saw the film on DVD a few years ago. In stereo. I guess they didn't do a near-field mix for that movie.

DVD has 5.1 mix, and it's significantly lower bitrate.
So they probably did a better job keeping it 'normal' sounding.
They would have to compress the dynamics a bit out of it for AC3@448. Or 384 if they still do that.
I think 384 is mainly for TV series and digital download copies.

But the bluray remux I got, the 7.1, yeesh.
It's great for cinematic experiences. That's what "dynamic range" is for a movie. It's supposed to sound like that.
But any other setup, you need to crush it and flatten it so it's all equal for most scenes. Really compress the dynamics to brickwall it.

If I don't use any type of normalizing, the bass is very distracting on non-subwoofers since it's all crackle and distortion.

I love watching the movie, but have to keep remembering to do so much to it first.

Converting the trailer right now and I can get more images from it.

I want to see the next trailer. I'm probably going to love the musical bits.
I'll have to push myself past Ewen McGregor's accent, though. I thought it was Sacha Baron Cohen at first.

end credits to Star Trek; The Motion Picture (1979) [FLAC 5.1] remux.
Downmixed 7.1 to 5.1.
The bluray didn't come with original audio mix. The surround sound mix overpowers the dialogue in the center channel as the music gets amplified.

On a surround sound system, the movie is amazingly loud. I love the soundscape to the movie. Sonicly - sonically - a sonic tonic. :smrt:

I should really download the special edition of the DVD. It's been sitting on my seedbox for ages.
There should be plenty of free space on my computer now (256GB SSD's x2).

With Win10 upgrade, it freed up WAY more space than I previously had on Win7.

Of course it's common knowledge... in these circles. But my sister isn't our type. She doesn't follow this stuff on the Internet and no, she's never read the comics. And I've purposefully kept spoilers from her when I talk about the ones she hasn't seen yet.

Watched the season finale of The Flash. A few thoughts/observations:

1: Season two not as good as season one. Wouldn't say it fell victim to the sophomore slump but it didn't resonate as well as the first season did.

2: Zoom became less interesting as a villain once he was unmasked. That's the problem with monsters, once you get a glimpse behind the mask the mystique is gone and the monsters become human.

3: Reverse-Flash was a much better "big bad." He was a human who become a monster and that tends to be more interesting.

4: The finale lacked the emotional "oomph" of the first year's. Of course, it would be hard to top Eddie giving his life to save The Flash. Barry's time duplicate trick was clever but the Time Wraiths reminded me too much of Reapers in Ghost.

5: Disappointed we never got to see Earth Three's Jay Garrick in action. Maybe in season three?

6: Tom Cavanagh did a good job of playing the cantankerous Harry, making him distinct from Wells. So, I'm guessing we'll meet the real Wells in season three.

7: While not as good, season two was a lot better than Arrow or Legends of Tomorrow. Maybe Arrow is done with the mystic side of things and return to the streets where the series excels.

The series is going to end using X-Men Days of Future Past.

Bran is going to warn his dad and they're going to CG young faces on actors and give us a happy ending where they're all alive and smiling.
Stark not becoming Hand of the King will create a new timeline where different events happen and it'll summurize that it all works out and everyone lives happily ever after.

The Jungle Book (1967)

It looks really odd compared to how movies are made today.

When Mowgli is introduced to the wolf pack, I pictured in my head the wolves eating him.
And when we first see Baloo, he's just a vagrant drunk.
Well, all the animals are homeless bums. They're just sqautters since they can just find a new place to sqaut.
It's not like they made anything themselves. The wolves just pick any open hole. The monkeys just occupy temples made by man and long forsaken.
Squatters. All squatters.
And let's talk about the monkeys: crack heads and bag huffers. Paint, paint thinner, glue, you name it.
They all are incoherent, singing and have short attention spans and none of them really take life seriously.
Sure, Baloo has life lessons. But that's mostly stuff you pick up living off the fat of the land.

Bagheera is the only sensible one that's seen it all. He does not laugh once whenever Mowgli does anything like laughing at the snake and laughing at the elephants. he's been in those poor situations before and knows what shame is like.
Baloo and Louie are just too drunk or too high to actually feel anything so that's why they're the zaniest and most loveable.

 Desensitized. Severely.

You know...

The Jungle Book ends with the kid growing up to be a man while the animals return to their homeless kingdom.
There's no hint they'll ever meet again. On friendly terms.
Sure, imagine a happy ending.

The reality is, they'll forget they can speak each other's language.
The man will talk like a man and do nothing but hunt to feed his family.
The animals will try to talk, but sound only like animals to the man.
In the man's eyes, he must kill the animals to protect his family.
There will only be more death.

It's nothing like Labyrinth.

Hmm... I should check what the special anniversary bluray is going for on Amazon for that...
I belive it's getting a 2k/4k remaster.

You might get that with Andy Serkis's version of The Jungle Book. He's promised a darker view of the story.

Blame the changes on Uncle Walt. He squeezed the juice out of a lot of the fairy tales. Of course, to be fair, the Grimm's and other fairy tales had been censored long before Disney. (In the original "Snow White" the ugly stepsisters slice chunks off their feet in order to make them fit in the glass slippers. In "Red Riding Hood" the wolf eats Granny and the Huntsman slices the wolf open to rescue her. I guess the wolf didn't chew ten times before swallowing.)

I grew up reading the original uncensored versions in German which were accompanied by some truly gruesome illustrations. Imagine the Cenobites' version of Grimm's fairy tales. Yeah, kind of like that.

I loved those stories.

That's where Into The Woods gets it from!
The film should be close in nature to the musical.
Sondheim was immensely close on the film adatpation, he wrote a new number for the film.

But they do those two things in the movie. Comical.

I would LOVE to have those stories.
I ought to look for something like that on Amazon.

Beats the hell out of watching The Lords of Salem.
I'm so tired right now, it's fitting to watch.
Just going through the motions to get to the end.
Zombie is really trying something different with the compared to his previous work. It had potential.
The naked witches in this movie are a fine example of why you shouldn't do crack, kids.

I started looking up "evil music chanting" and stuff and ended up finding mostly synth.
I had no idea they created a new genre called "pure dungeon synth".

I should make a small album of existing chanty music from movies.
Bram Stoker's Dracule, The VVitch, The Omen.
The hardest part will be to do it without including classical music (Carl Orff #1 search result).''

It'd be a nice compilation opposite of Classical/Opera in film.

Here I was thinking with Andy Serkis we would get finally one accurate adaptation of the original story and it seems we're just gonna get a unnnecesary shitty, dark, edgy version. Couldn't we just get a nice adaptation of the original book?

As I'm not vastly familiar with the score, can anyone recommend any stand-out cues besides 6m75b and SixIdea (OST The Art of War)? 1m16-17 is nice, as is 3m39a. 6m75a and 6m78 are also good. Any others?

I don't always look at the playlist when I listen to music.
But when I do... I forget everything.

The last quarter of the movie has a lot of good action in it.
I like the part where the aliens launch their decepticons upon the world to take down the bridges and kill the children at the baseball field.
Any cue with the sonic stingers.

watching Gods of Egypt.
I can finally place the score to a visual now.

The CG is neat. I'm taking it in the same fashion as the Transformers movies and not looking for an Acadamy Award winner.

I never really ready any of the books or scrolls, so don't know and don't care if it's accurate or not. :smrt:

A few things:
Sooooooooo much cleavage. It's like they had only one requisite while casting.
Lannister can't kick his Lannister accent.
Rufus Sewell playing Rufus Sewell. He's a guy that needs to play a good guy again. Hercules was great for him. It was fun to see him not be the bad guy.

Bek was a circus performer. Not the oldschool circus with tights. But modern circus (or "troupe performer"). A lot of acrobatics instead of martial arts or anything abstract and unorthadox like parkour.
His first leap is the second thing you learn after doing a forward roll. And a lot of his choreographed action sequences are just extensions of acrobatics. Even his one-armed stand while taunting Horus.
10 more years and more aggressive stunts and training, he can make Cirque Du Soliel. That kind of circus.
I don't know if that's a limitation on the actor, or if it was what they were looking for to keep it in the realm of Egyptian combat.
It's not like they can get Ray Park to play Bek and do all the insane martial arts that Egyptians never knew.
 In a movie about gods?

That one goddess, I'd be chopping both her wings off and hang them on my wall. They look pretty as solid gold statue pieces.

Now for them to do an Age of Mythology adaptation.

watching the outtakes to Community seasons 1 and 2.

Man, they're totally dysfunctional. Completely whacked. I swear they take drugs when there's no cameras around.
All they do is make fun of Chevy Chase, have a lot of inside jokes, behave like children and take up so much more time trying to do a scene than they actually do a scene.
I've never seen so many outtakes for a series before.
They don't let the makeup crew do their job and just do their own thing until the shot is done right.
None of the crew has any power.

This isn't just people letting off stress or anything.
These are just kids who got the part. It's disappointing to watch.
I see short attention span behaviors like that in drug addicts a lot.

I can see why Chevy Chase feels out of place there. They really just got lucky making it to season 6.

This is one of those times you would rather just watch the final product and know nothing about behind the scenes.
Truly saddening to witness.

A troubled shooting would be everyone having issues.
The cast at least are having fun.
Are the crew actually taking issue to their antics?
Kids have to have fun every once in a while.

The show became the victim of the-let's-pad-the-program-until-it-loses-everything-that-made-it-interesting syndrome. CBS should have adapted the novel and not expanded on it. One season and done. That way CBS could have adapted a Stephen King novel every summer.

Speaking of one and done, second season of Wayward Pines not impressing me. I enjoyed the first chapter but without the original show runner I fear it's going to quickly sink into the moors of mediocrity.

The Office, season 2. Michael Scott goes to New York...

All of a sudden, I'm thinking of a show or movie where a comedian actor travels to an alternate reality.
Where in the new world, he's rich with a loft and a better family he likes and better friends he likes.

Steve Carell, Will Ferrell, or someone.
I don't think it was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It wasn't an Inception/psychological thriller.

They actively and phsyically travelled to this alternate reality/universe to escape their normal lives.
And it wasn't mission-based like the TV show Sliders or anything.

It's not easy to google... I get results like Fringe, which I don't watch.
And Doctor Who, which I don't watch.

I'm pretty sure it was based in New York. And he didn't want to go back but he had to and then things got out of hand for him in the new world.
Like he couldn't keep up with his new life. A CEO or something high-class business with suits all the time.

It was a live-action production, so it wasn't Futurama.

Why am I think Steve Carell or someone from the Anchorman films.

It's also fairly recent in the past decade, so it's not anything pre-90's or black and white...

---------- Post added at 08:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:13 PM ----------

Tried IMDb keyword searches:
alternative reality, alternative reality, parallel universes, multiverse.

Nothing.

Was it even from a tv episode or a movie?

Was it all a dream?

Maybe I should just watch Jet Li's "The One" again.
It wasn't an action flick, either. It was more like a comedy/drama, like "Stranger Than Fiction" pace.

---------- Post added at 08:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:22 PM ----------

...he was trying to hide it from others until they found out and then everyone started travelling there and abusing that new world and they eventually had to shut it down.

Was it animated? Was it Futurama?
I don't know why, but the dynamic of the team of friends is like out of Futurama and Modern Family.
One of the women started going there to be rich and do lots of shopping...

---------- Post added at 08:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:31 PM ----------

Aside from Under the Red Hood, that one is thee best of the ADCU.

---------- Post added at 09:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:01 PM ----------

...maybe it was an episode of American Dad...
But, they did mostly just time travel, like when Steve travelled back in that hotel to find the woman in the painting.

It wasn't Futurama. Because it was all human. No aliens.

I don't think it was time travel as they were interacting with the world. The only time they can interact with witout affecting it is the future.
But the reason for travelling out of their own world was to get away from their saddened, poor existing world.

How can they go into the future and come out rich? Going back knowing they would be rich could cause a different ripple that would impact their present thus changing the future.
Or maybe they ran into future selves that would jeopardize their timeline forcing future selves to time travel back and ruin the moment they figure out they can time travel so that they can keep the future rich...
