IF Philip Glass composed for Game of Thrones:

On its own, it doesn't fit the series.
With the episode, it creates a cinematic effect, but still doesn't fit the series.
It's complete fan service piece to elicit adrenaline while watching.
It's something more for Marvel or DC TV/Film.

It really breaks the atmosphere of the mythology of the franchise.

Until, the boy chants his ball-less voice. Then it fits into the series.

But still comes off as a large trailer piece that made it into the episode.

No doubt, the greatest and most gratifying episode of the entire series thus far.
You cheer, you scream, you spit, and you spit blood if you can as you scream, you cry, you even go silent, and you bare your teeth as you laugh and smile.
There is no getting away from enjoying this episode.

The minimalist approach is for effect.

I have hopes they'll make a follow-up movie after the series ends on TV.
This is what the movie will look like.
It's catering to the fans who want what they wished for.

George R.R. Martin is too fat and lazy to complete the books.
HBO will finish the story and kill Martin.
This is officially an HBO product. Martin does not exist. Anymore.

A fitting wallpaper on my second screen (the HDTV, turned off but second monitor still active so still a second desktop)...

Sheesh. All I've been reading is praise for Djawadi's easy-listening John Tesh impression.

I've read quite a few comments where people were saying it was different to watch the series with the piano.

It is good. But just because it's good doesn't mean it belongs.

It's nowhere near as bad The Bear and Maiden Fair, mind you. So I'll let it have its glory.

This is all signs HBO owns Martin. They've triumphed in obtaining more fans than the books ever will.

I think I like it because (gasp!) it was written for film and therefore has a very cinematic sound to it. It's not her usual pop/tween shit.

I'm trying to practice my Spanish here. Last time I tried writing, I made the mistake of using Google Translate for the whole statement. I now have written it from memory, with occasional usage of SpanishDict and spell correction in Google Docs. It's still assisted, but it's a better attempt. Give criticism if you want.

You need some help but you're getting there, I guess. You're trying.

Well, I did write "Give criticism if you want," so that's not really helping me. It also doesn't really help with the fact I wasn't told what exactly to fix last time as well. Call it complicated, but it'll be something. I could go through a bunch of terminology for my second language, why not the first?

My issue has to do with the fact that while I speak it okay, the reading and writing is really on the beginners side. As the result, I often get lost reading without someone else reading it to me and writing can feel like I'm writing it like an English paper. It doesn't help that my parents don't really help me, saying that they have old Kindergarten books lying around for me to read or just go through the Bible. That really tells me that they know about much as I do, only a bit more. My Spanish class, while disliked as a whole, introduced me to concepts I don't really hear my family following, even though we're Salvadorian. They're lucky that after 5 years of existing, English took over and became the language I would be most successful in. And even then, it's not perfect.

Basically, I just hope 11th grade has a Spanish class I'll like. Otherwise, I'll be stuck here.

I can't help you much. I'm not a teacher and I'm bad at teaching. But I'll tell you sound like a Google Translator and maybe Google could do a bit better than that. You need a bit of practice. Possibly listening and reading spanish stuff might help you with how the sentences and stuff are formed, Idk.

I can sound like Google Translate a lot of the time (even though my parents accept it). It doesn't help that I end up slipping in English words every now and then. That's kind of why I've been watching films I'm familiar with in Spanish, but that's only really hearing it. I need to actually get a book in Spanish I can read. I'll just read parts of the Bible I got from doing the first communion and confirmation simultaneously. That or I just buy a book I already know in Spanish. That might actually help.

Yeah, like the Guys said, i use Foobar2k and am very pleased with it, before that i used Winamp,
but i didn't like how clunky, slow to start and restrictive it was.

Foobar lets you basically build your own Interface via Drag and Drop, it monitors your Library in Realtime,
there's no pesky need to rescan everything when you make additions to your Collection, plus it's great
for batch-converting and tagging Music, got it set so it can retrieve and autotag from VGMDB's Database,
which is super convinient...

Also, I shouldn't be listening to this when I'm sleepy, as I got pretty woken up at points. Watching ([email protected]):

2013) X6; The Wolverine [Extended] [720p]

I decided to sort it by year first.
Going by original title makes it all out of order.
And only the first X-Men movie got the full title and no "X1". Why? I was tired when i did it and spent a good 15 minutes looking at the list.
X#y works because DoFP has two cuts.

So all in all, it looks like thus:
F:\Series\X-Men\

2000) X-Men [720p]
2003) X2; X-Men United [720p]
2006) X3; The Last Stand [720p]

I own all the blurays for every single one. Just need to get Apocalypse when it comes out.
720p because my PC monitor isn't FullHD. I got the blurays, anyway if I want 1080p.
For marathons, this is much easier to rip through than dealing with discs and godawful menus.

I need to get the DoFP 3D set for completion. Maybe the Sentinal boxset if it's still around.
I ended up buying them separate. 2D Theatrical was cheap at a liquadtion sale for Target (it wasn't doing good so they shut down branch).
The 2D Rogue Cut, I got on sale the week it came out. I almost got it on UHD-BD.
Actually, I should look up what boxset there is with the 2D+3D+UHD BD's.

The Wolverine, I have the fancy black box: Best Buy exclusive, IIRC.

RE: BvS, extended
I still haven't watched it. Any verison of it.
I want to watch the Ultimate/Extended edition. I really like extended editions the most.

The only couple times I didn't really was for The Town and Watchmen.
The Town spends a little too much time developing a love interest. Which is fine and all for absolute context of where they're at and what they mean to each other by the end. It actually adds more to it, but I think it also meant more of his gross gf that he was doing who was the sister of the a-hole Jeremy Renner in that movie.
He played a wonder a-hole. Just his character's sister really makes you blech.

Watchmen with The Black Freighter sequences, it's better off as the stand alone. It's a disturbing and great story for the pirate.
But you really forget you're watching Watchmen. And when you watch Watchmen you forget it has the pirate story.
The longest cut without the cartoon is really nice.

It's sitting here, but I'm doing way too many things. The Wolverine is still on pause so I can move more stuff around.

Finally finishing the ending to The Wolverine extended edition.

It helps fix 3 and sets up the rest of the fix in DOFP.

I really love Logan.
This is the stand alone movie he should have started with and omit Origins.

I still like Origins but The Wolverine really just removes Origins from the series that you don't need it anymore.

Just 3, then First Class, The Wolverine and then DOFP.

Him leaving Jean's memory behind actually hurt me.
Really, really love Beltrami's work.

There's some really nice scenes that just scream Beltrami and add to the tension.

I forgot how some of the new extended content is total fan service. :rofldata:
One scene in particular doesn't feel necessary but was a hoot to watch.

BvS is just frightfully dumb, dour and intolerably boring. That, plus the direction, script, editing, and music are incompetently handled. Affleck's perma-scowl is laughable.

In comparison, Wolverine extended, which I watched last week (for the 2nd time), demonstrates vastly superior filmmaking on all fronts, though I still wish Beltrami had goosed the action scenes along a bit more, particularly the funeral and foot chase through the city (I imagined it playing out to something like Goldsmith's "Fish Market" from The Challenge).

Canada has a commercial-filler series to play for 30 seconds between shows about Canada's history.

"Heritage Minutes"
They are popular here for being played so often back in the day. Just dramatizations of historical moments.

Here's one about Winnie and the bear.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlA6oEs3C18

That's all we got here. There's one about the second guy who helped create Superman gets zero credit and zero dollars out of it because of copyright laws, etc.
Shuster's family recently tried to get back some of the Superman name and backpay in courts, but don't know how it turned out.
I think the Shuster lineage had to wait until the past decade before taking legal action. Expired license agreements, etc etc.

This is a beautiful cue. It was always one of my favorite menu themes for the series. I also sort of know this game so well that I'm able to cite quotes entirely from memory that's more than 4 years old.

Kelly:"Hey Sarge, I thought you said the French were gonna surrender."

Bloomfield:"Yeah, stormin' the beach was fun and all but I gotta get back. Got tickets to the Yankee games, they're playing the Red Sox, I got BOX SEATS!"

Denly:"Ah shut the hell up Bloomfield!"

Hawkins:"I said can it! Resistance or not we got an airfield to secure private."

........

Denly:"I tell you what fellas, I'm glad those Frenchies decided to fight back."

Hawkins:"And for Christ's sake Kelly watch where you point that rifle. Try and remember that. It'll keep from blowin' the head off the guy next to ya."

Kelly:"Okay Sarge."

.50 cal machine gunner:"Boy look at all this sand guys! I sure ain't in Jersey no more!"

Player:"Well at least you can be thankful for that."

EDIT: I got this from Soulseek a couple of years ago, and it was labeled as a gamerip. And I'm like "This is NOT a gamerip.". It sounds too good. It must be from Graeme Revell himself, or something.

The titles and tracklist from this cover here () matched what I had, and they sounded like the cues they were to be labeled as, so I tagged the files from there.

Yeah, the film was great. Mostly everyone (especially McConaughey :p) gave a really good performance. It had great cinematography, too. The only thing was maybe that it didn't have the best flow.

The battle scenes were awesome. They were really well done. They kind of hit me sometimes, so did some other scenes. I want to see more movies like this, that have a lot of war in them.

Oh. That's an interesting approach.

Yeah, it's not just for my portable players, but it's also for when I game on PC.
It saves a lot of space going VBR for most things. I just delete them later if I need the space and then re-encode it all again if I want them again.

1,640 items
duration: 3d 6:42:10.438

14% of it lossless somewhere... I need to find out where and convert it down.
It's all on my SSD for gaming.

Found an easier way to convert things in Foobar2000 to keep folder structure:

Format: MP3 (LAME), V0.

Output folder: D:\Music\Coby
File name pattern: %album%\%disc%%track% - %title%

will give me....

D:\Music\Coby\The Flash vs. Arrow\15 - Hope for Saving People Like Us.mp3
( I removed all tags for "disc" on this album since it is only a 1-disc release; otherwise it will show up as "115 - Hope....mp3" )

EDIT: there. AAC structure for gaming is different.
%%directoryname% is very convenient where you don't want to rely on incorret or missing meta-tags.

Michael Jackson

Most likely the reason the game's music hasn't been released, even though he said he did not want to be credited... something doesn't add up. :p

I'm pretty sure his keyboardist (Brad Buxer) is the main reason how we know anything, for example, the exact tracks Jackson worked on.
I'm very glad I finally have that information tagged to my version now.

I have Stranger In Moscow on disc, so it was easy for me to tell who made it.

3DMan pretty much had it tagged for me, since he puts in a bunch of composers that I didn't know actually worked on the track. Where did you get your copy from?

\Dragon Ball - Saga 1\Dragonball_-_001_-_Secret_of_the_Dragonball

But it's hard to focus.

1) the colors are very washed out.
You can tell how old the series is.

2) I now see why there were so many line darkener filters created for avisynth.
I might have to look up a quick solution to get a fast line darkener going in FFDShow/Avisynth.
There's no shadows from the edges in this show. It's hard to tell what's what.
It's like my perception of 2D is shot.

I didn't know he had a tail.

Good call, that's basically the same as
Convert>...>Destination(Output to Source Track Folder + File Name Pattern : [%discnumber%.]%tracknumber%. [%artist% - ]%title%), right ?

Makes converting Multi Disc Albums an absolute Cinch... :)

Right now i am listening to :
E:\VideoGame OST\Michiel van den Bos - Age of Wonders III The Official Soundtrack\03. Triumph Within Reach.mp3

I've loved van den Bos since Unreal Tournament, his composing Style just clicks with me so much...

Very much the same.
I've got so many presets using different patterns for various uses. I love it so much.
Music for gaming, music for portables, music for archiving, music for sharing, etc.

AoW 3 is amazing.
The game is great to play. I love the music.
I just need to get the one DLC and I'm all set.
I could play it for centuries.

Not quite the same, %album% makes a Album titled Folder ? I didn't know that, should come in handy, thanks for that !

Indeed it is a great Game, sadly RTS is a dying Genre, where did Time go, Real Time Strategy used to be King... :(

Adding slates to an ost seems kind of redundant. Would make more sense to call it an alternative of 7m47 would it not?

Adding slates at all is redundant, but people do it anyway.

Some people prefer slates. A lot of times they help. Even on an OST.

If I'm to add slates, I'll enter them to the lyrics of songs in iTunes, so I can just press the screen while listening, and there ya go.

DAKoftheOTA
07-08-2016, 03:44 AM
Yeah? Then in iTunes you have to press cntrl+i and then go to the lyric tab and look for it. Too much work when you can simply have the slate right on the cue :)

Well, it's a con for iTunes, but pro for an iPhone. :p

Something I'm wondering about, though, is that for soundtracks that have cues that are combined into a track (Star Wars, The Dark Night, etc) Would you put 1m1/1m2 (track title)?
