Can anyone explain the difference between expanded, complete, custom scores? I'm actually quite well-versed in everything binary, whether in mathematics, music or other mediums, but I'm as ignorant as they come when dealing with score distribution. I'm guessing the above are most available only though bootlegs?

So, in the score of ICE AGE CONTINENTAL DRIFT there's a bit of a play/parody on "Ode to joy" by Beethoven, with these funny lyrics in German.

I'm slightly wondering if that HZ could be Hans Zimmer. :P Funny you are, Mr. Powell.
German.. HZ....has to be! ;)

5 is actually funny.
In context, it's funnier than 3 and 4.
For 3, there's a bluray release called 3.5 which is unrated, and adds more.

But 3 & 4, watching the special features, you can see how hard it was to finish those movies.
Hundreds of rewrites for the ending. At one point there was going to be a Hulk involved.
Probably why they did Super Hero Movie and all the others.
Thousands of ideas with no solid script.

Not sure if 4 has an unrated version. :erm:

Unadulterated.
Save the frame interpolation.

Smooth Video Project (SVP) has gone through some major updates so I'm testing it out.
24fps converted to 47.998fps is okay.

But if I throw on the ChromaDepth (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChromaDepth) 3D glasses, it looks so much better.

Forget what the Wiki or anyone else says for ChromaDepth being for only crappy primary colored pictures.
It's great for films, too. Especially when you over saturate them, add red tint, and adjust the gamma (0.88).
Better than the Pulfrich effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulfrich_effect).

There's already a 720p torrent out there, which isn't surprising. I'm holding out for "1080" (really 800).

1080p are out there.
It's still called 1080p regardless of cropping.
The goal is to achieve either 1920 width or 1080 height. In case where you can't hit 1080 height, you crop to keep 1920 width.
Standard ripping and terminology on most torrent sites, especially private trackers.
Even if you have to crop to 804 or 792.
Even 720p are not entirel 720p height, but match 1280 width, which is valid.

EDIT: to achieve maximum of one dimension or the other.
1280p rips cannot be like 1198 or 1320 heights to achieve 0.00% AR error.
The width must 1280 and the height nearest modulus (2/4/8/16) to stay within 1280 width, even if it creates a marginal AR error.
720p is the maximum, assuming the source is 1.78:1, which would give exactly 1280x720.
Same deal with 1080p sources, working with maximum AR of 1.78:1 (maximum of 1920x1080).

The full bluray is out, too. Just not on public trackers.
The audio seems to be like the previous release where it's 7.1 with 5.1-ES core. :-/
I'm just waiting for a remux and other encodes to see if it's Strange Setup.
Will probably have to wait a release from Hong Kong to get a decent 5.1 mix, just like previous release.

Home (2015) is also 7.1 with 5.1-ES core.
I don't know why so many studios are pushing this crap on people.

How To Train Your Dragon - John Powell

Hadn't listened to the original in quite a long while (years I might say, but not too much, probably just one or two) I handn't realize most of the cues that make the score to the sequel so good come from the first one. The difference is in the second, John Powell amplifies the themes epically.

Glad you finally realised. ;)

I know the score to the first one like the back of my hand. Every cue. And it is overall still better than HTTYD2 in my opinion.

Can anyone explain the difference between expanded, complete, custom scores? I'm actually quite well-versed in everything binary, whether in mathematics, music or other mediums, but I'm as ignorant as they come when dealing with score distribution. I'm guessing the above are most available only though bootlegs?

Hmmm. Nobody answered this? Let me help.

OST = Original SoundTrack. The official release. But you knew that, I'm sure.
FYC = For Your Consideration. An 'official' but promotional release given to members of the body of judges for the academy awards or other similar awards. Often contain previously unreleased material, but are also often just the same as the OST.
Expanded = nothing specific, but should contain some unreleased material which is then combined with the OST in chronological order. Usually, the unreleased material is either ripped from composers' websites, or from partial sessions, an FYC or other promo, etc.
Complete = should have every cue used in the film. Sometimes sessions are labeled as 'complete scores'. Whilst this is technically correct, sessions are nearly always more than complete. An example of what I would call a complete score is the first Ice Age by David Newman. What we have was most likely a promo, maybe even an FYC, but it's complete in that it has every cue written for the film, including the film version of the song. Another version of this has the original cue titles and slate numbers. So it's a bit ambiguous, but it's complete.
Custom = could mean anything. In the case of a 'complete score edit' this is like an expanded, but is definitely complete. It's put together from various sources. Take my National Treasure complete edit, or Lockdown's Interstellar complete edit as examples.
Recording Sessions = The original, unadulterated material as recorded for the film, including alternates and film versions of cues. Most often complete, but sometimes missing a couple of cues due to different composer credits.

All of the above except OST's are not available to buy officially anywhere. That's why this place exists.

Hurrah, another Voyager fan!

It gets a lot of flack amongst hardcore Trekkie fandom (they either think it's a rehash of Picard & Co. or they're into the darker Deep Space Nine war stuff) but I think it's probably my favourite. The characters act like real people (say what you will about The Next Generation and it is wonderful at times, but they got a little one-dimensional at times... you can almost spot the actors desperately trying to find something interesting in amongst all the Treknobabble and philosophy) and it feels like a family. It's equally funny and dramatic and scary and easy-going and emotional and bonkers.

Plus, there are three ways to do things. There's the right way, the wrong way, and the Janeway.

But, this one, I love. Particularily because he doesn't act in it.

This was really confusing when it first came out.
3 different releases. 2.0 audio, 3.0 audio, 5.1 audio(!).
I've been told Allen works with audio in mono, until recently where he used pseudo-stereo with dual-mono channels.
And that for MIP, the center channel is mono dialogue (strictly) and L+R channels are strictly music. SFX... center only?

I need to replace what I have.

Yeah, good point.

I'm kinda thinking it should have been called Mad Furiossa. It was really more about her than anyone else. And we never find out about either of their pasts and what they need redemption from. The film hints at Max's past but never actually tells you anything.

Thank goodness there are three films that do that for you! :p

I still need to see this movie, but I love wacky camera shots, so Sulley has increased my hype that much more.

Yep, the cinematography is awesome.

It's a sequel, though a very offbeat one at that.

I watched only the first Mad Max and it was one of the most depressing films I've ever seen.

MM:FR is not a sequel.

It's a "revisit" Miller confirms in multiple interviews.
Take that as a "reboot" or "re-imagining", or however.

Mad Max: Fury Road Feature Connects Sequel To The Road Warrior - CINEMABLEND (http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Mad-Max-Fury-Road-Feature-Connects-Sequel-Road-Warrior-71332.html)

He never saw continuity between the first 3 films, at all.
So they're just like random films set in the same universe (death and desert).

I love the first 2 films (3 with a grain of salt... a LARGE grain).
I love Fury Road. though Max was severely underplayed in this. It was mostly Charlize Therone's film.

But Miller's kind of a weird guy, so it fits his line of thinking.

 So true.
I look at all the films now in new light.
3 never did feel likt it was actually part of the whole story.
1 and 2 seem to be their own continuity while 3 just went full Godfather 3 on all of us.

Free Bird - lynyrd skynyrd ~Kingsman The Secret Service

[Harry kills everyone until he is the only survivor, realizing what he's done he walks out of the church where he finds Valentine and Gazelle waiting for him]
Harry Hart: What did you do to me? I had no control. I killed all those people. I wanted to.
Valentine: Clever, isn't it? In simple terms, it's a neurological wave that triggers the centers of aggression and switches off inhibitors.
Harry Hart: Transmitted through your nasty, free SIM cards, I assume.
[Valentine walks over to Harry]
Valentine: Do you know what this is like? It's like those old movies we both love. Now I'm gonna tell you my whole plan, and then I'm gonna come up with some absurd and convoluted way to kill you, and you'll find an equally convoluted way to escape.
Harry Hart: Sounds good to me.
Valentine: Well, this ain't that kind of movie.
[suddenly he takes out a gun and shoots Harry in the head, killing him; Eggsy screams in horror as he watches]

One thing I will give the film is that Jablonsky's score really resonates with bass throughout.
I remember loving the end credits to this.

It still pales in comparison to the original.

For me, ST: TNG didn't find its voice until the third season. That coincided, not coincidently, with the death of Roddenberry.

SDCC trailer for BVS: Dawn of Justice again.

Neat they're re-introducing Wayne witnessing the murder of his parents.
But, geez. It's a really old story by now.
I get they're rebooting the image of Batman and going in a different universe.
I hope it's only like 5 seconds.
No audience is dumb enough to not get it by now.
Even a 10 year old can gather Wayne's history.

They'll most likely dub it like they did with Kai. (I'm not american, I just know)

And at the moment I'm about to get ready to get to listen a few Final Fantasy goodies on my huge FF collection in my HDD in lossless.

It's gonna be good pure orgasmic music.

This time I like the score too. Can't wait for the english dub voices. Although they will I assume cut up a lot of stuff as it's mostly just filler.

The Japanese Vegeta is a bit too much though.

Anyway, starting Ted 2 now. The first one was very promising but most of the jokes just didn't work fo me.

Also, Mark Wahlberg is best when he's got the fewest lines. Small doses. :)

Lots of music I have on my HDD are worth every cent, but do I have every cent for them? Nope, sadly.

However, I agree. Importing is a bit expensive, and not to say you have to use credit cards, which I don't have, and waiting til the imports arrive.. T.T

By the way, just yesterday and today there were two concerts live in Australia of the music. Surely Lockdown would have loved to attend.

Melbourne Symphony Orchestra celebrates the 20th anniversary of Babe (http://www.mso.com.au/news/2015/04/melbourne-symphony-orchestra-celebrates-the-20th-anniversary-of-babe/)
I would have absolutely loved to be there, and meet the maestro, Mr. Westlake. He is one of my favorites.

My holy grail cue for this score is when Fly is telling Babe about Rex's past. I hope to God it's on here.
