If you would rather get the full soundtrack that includes all of the songs on that sofmap aside from the karaoke versions, then look for torrents on nyaa sukebei. They should still be seeded.

I learned it the hard way with Xenoblade 2 limited edition. They certainly got a lot complaints about it then. I wonder if the fact that Octopath Traveler OST came well protected in the usual cardboard box is in anyway related. But on the other hand this is a jewel case.
I would just assume if the packaging is made out of paper and it's the only item being shipped then it will come in a bubble envelope.

Damn, I didn't know to expect that. I figured since they're amazon what can go wrong?

Well I was half right at least. I just finished my live chat with them and after showing them that image I posted in my previous post they understood the situation, put a special requirement for my next order (which happened to be $5 cheaper) to be sent in reinforced package, issued me a refund and said that I can keep this damaged one. I'm pretty excited about that at least lol. Amazon Japan's customer service has been great these past few days with me.

Can any of you knowledgable people help me out.. I'm looking for game music that either could be played originally in midi format or that had that kind of midi sound to it, I'm thinking classic 90s midi sounds i guess.

Stuff like this from Super Turrican 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucxY-gCb4jg Even though it's a SNES ost the piano is very midi preset sounding to me.

Or this from Sim City 2000 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T1_tDTRw0w I actually have a 'general midi' version of this track but can't see it on youtube. The version i posted is the SB Pro 2 version, which sounds pretty cool anyway.

Or if anyone has a good general information on midi in game music, that would also be very interesting.


I'll just add. I'm not really looking for game music that's been converted to midi by fans, although if it's exceptionally good I'd be more than willing to give it a listen.

I've abbreviated it to my own CD rip along with in-game music & a couple of topic referrals as Issou's got the digital download included as part of the Sonic Mania vinyl release and a "Weissmach" managed to get some 1000+ bit-rate Nintendo Switch rips of the Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant Zone & Oil Ocean Zone tracks omitted from all soundtrack releases (Visit the full topic (Thread 225984) for all links including images & other material if they end up being of your fancy).

Also, including WAV isn't an "option," it's just bloat. If anyone wants WAV for whatever reason they're going to just download the FLAC anyway and convert it themselves as it will be quicker and save bandwidth.

I did indeed refer to !!!!!'s Nexus and their Expanded Soundtrack for Sonic Mania in the original topic (Hopefully they'll find an opportunity to update it with the new music from Sonic Mania Plus/Encore Mode). I've edited my post to simply quote the entire original topic's text contents, as perhaps I ended up unintentionally omitting content & information when trying to avoid providing too much content & information (I did make numerous lossy referrals & otherwise get very carried away with this Soundtrack in particular).

As for the Switch-rips in question, I discovered the Torrent from here (Thread 225643) (Also referred to in the original topic). After I checked the bit-rate (All tracks exceeded 1000 according to foobar2000) and Spectrogram levels of the six 48,000hz tracks included in the Torrent, they seemed to at least appear to warrant the FLAC format. No idea if the Torrent provider made the rip themselves though (They certainly don't distinctly claim to), and I did suspect these weren't data-sourced (Though I have nil observation of Sonic Mania's data for the Switch to confirm any audio data differences that may or may not exist). I included them separately, with a personal tag/metadata & cover edit, in the "IN-GAME MUSIC & SOUND EFFECTS" link that also contains my personal Steam-rip if you wish to inspect them.

smloadr (1.9.4) works just fine, you should try it. I can also invite you to Apollo, you'll grab Music from Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy from there.

ironically archiving of digital stuff is exactly about (lossless) compression with means to check integrity in order to detect degradation like "bit rot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_degradation)". Both points are crucial for that purpose. With FLAC you can achieve bit perfect compression with checksums for each audio frame (16-bit CRC checksum for each one + MD5 checksum for the whole STREAMINFO block). You can try


metaflac --list --block-type=STREAMINFO *.flac | grep MD5

for the latter, for instance. Not even mentioning proper tagging of FLAC via VORBIS_COMMENT.
So FLAC is actually a truly archival format compared to WAV or AIFF.

I'd call WAV an illusionary, pointless sharing option. From an end-point user point of view, at least.

I also have supposedly raw .PCM files extracted straight from the PS2 disc, but couldn't figure out what encodings they are. Brute-force loading with Adobe Audition (44100/32000Hz? 8/16/24bits?) didn't help a lot, resulting in partial audible sounds but with lots of noise. So close!

It looks like this file/zip upload is broken now (it could've been working fine in the past, but it's not anymore), because I've tried to download it from several different places and PCs, and it always stops at 653.9MB out of 671.1MB (which is roughly 97%), and gives out an error, regardless of connection/browser/hardware and etc. Thus, this particular upload clearly doesn't work anymore and probably should be re-uploaded by someone. I apologize in advance if this was already fixed or if the Akumajou Best 2 was already re-uploaded by someone else somewhere, but all I could find so far in regards to this particular musical set is one older upload from way back in 2014 which doesn't work anymore and then this one which was basically a re-upload of that older one. Both of them aren't working anymore, it seems. First part of Akumajou Best downloads and plays just fine, it's the Best 2 which doesn't work anymore.

OTOTOY does sell internationally (A lot of their releases tend to get the region-lock though, especially soundtracks), so if you use Paypal and have a VPN to by-pass the region-lock, you should be able to fetch it for yourself like I managed to (As I did following this site's advice (https://asoundupgrade.com/region-lock-music/) at least). I was meaning to share my copy at some point, but I've been busy gathering materials such as additional artists & in-game extractions. I ended up using Tunnelbear, but the files were too big for the free trial, so do bear that in mind if waiting on me isn't something you can do.

I can also tell you that 龍が如く極 (Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami) also has a Hi-Res release on mora.jp (https://mora.jp/package/43000033/A46474/) (They also have Ryu ga Gotoku 0 Side A & B there in Hi-Res too), but they're a more difficult site to purchase from outside of their limited region range, and I've been keen to ensure I can pursue this one for myself as well.

I've tried that one already, unfortunately it's a bad file copy (discs 1 and 10 are fine, but 2 ~ 9 have errors for which it even got a "questionable" status on the site). That release group clearly 'dun goofed in one way or another.
And, yeah, lack of the Bonus DVD also diminishes the value greatly (though it's not a necessary thing for me personally). Either way, I sincerely hope someone else has a correct copy of that entire set of Eleria Queen (http://forums.ffshrine.org/member.php?u=507742)'s (or maybe, perhaps, the original uploader could provide a re-upload of this thing if he/she sees this post eventually (the sooner the better, though)?), or could make a re-upload via their own personal ripping. Okay, I see the comments on rutracker and why it's considered a questionable rip. However, that torrent lists the source of the rip as the same rip by Eleria Queen you linked, so that rip would be exactly the same as the one on rutracker even if someone reuploaded it. I think you'd need a new rip altogether.

The reason the files are considered questionable is that EAC was set to burst mode when ripping discs 2-9, as seen in the log files. Downloading does not affect the logs or the quality of the rip, as far as I understand. After reading a forum about the quality of rips done with these settings, it cannot even be concluded that the rip is inaccurate until it has been listened to or its checksums compared to a rip already considered accurate.

Well, damn. That's a point, too.

Hey all, I purchased a couple tri-ace albums that I haven't seen shared anywhere before and was wondering if anyone still had the INFINITE UNDISCOVERY ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK in lossless.
