Do you, guys, have FLAC of "Legacy of Ys (http://vgmdb.net/album/11841)"? I’ve tried to download it from there (http://pan.baidu.com/s/1ntDQuoD#render-type=list-view&path=%252F) a few times, but failed.

I loved this game and the ost was incredible, and, since there is no physical release, I went the extra mile and extracted the audio files and looped them. The only thing I haven't done is the cover (I stole it somewhere >.>)
There are a couple track I didn't bother with, but nothing really important.
I tried to list the songs in appearance order, but there may be a few error since I did it from memory.
Enjoy!

The pleasure is all mine :)

I've also been looking for this for a long time, but since there wasn't anything of good quality, I decided to do it by myself.
Indeed, it wasn't so hard, just a simple converstion of the .wem files present in the game files and then some work to loop the tracks properly

I am not sure the metadata were correctly writen though, so I may correct that when I'll have some spare time

Don't mind to PM me if you have any correctiont to sugest! (since it is the first time I do that...)

Yeah, it's a really good one.

As for the mastering, I found it interesting. Some of the tracks have a hard frequency cutoff, like the first track, but some other tracks fill the entire graph properly in SPEK (these are 24bit/96khz so I inspected them). Makes me think that some of these were done at different times and by different teams or something.

SPLATUNE - Splatoon Original Soundtrack

A hugely popular soundtrack and one of Nintendo's latest, but somehow hasn't had a lossless rip posted here or anywhere else I could find! And trust me, I looked!

A bit strange (I haven't even played the game) but people seem to like the music so it seemed like an essential for me.

I do appreciate this, but many don't consider cd rips without cue/log to be lossless even though the audio data may not be altered, other data on the disc as well as structuring information is discarded without those files. Still, thanks for sharing them before anyhow! I'm sure many people were glad to hear them. If anyone wants to upgrade to a proper rip then they now have another option :)

You seem to be way more knowledgable about the splatoon tracks than I am… is that "squid now/kid now" track used in the US tv spot not present on either of the 2 discs? I skipped through quickly but didn't hear it anywhere, I figured a Japanese version might be present.

If this sounds crude, I'm sorry, but I couldn't care less about cues and whatnot. I have bought the OST with legit money, tagged it properly and shared it out of sheer kindness, without asking anything for it. Not rep, not thanks, especially not money. Everyone is free to buy the same OST and make logs, cues and sfv and god knows what, but it makes me see red that someone belittles my effort just because it doesn't have the useless additions that doesn't affect absolutely anything. OK, I won't talk anymore about that because you talked nicely at the end.

I have no idea about US commercials. Heck, I don't even watch commercials of my own country, lest others... Gotta check YT for it and answer your question then.

...OK, it was... awful. I am happy the OST doesn't have that :D

Again, I don't mean to belittle your efforts so please don't take it the wrong way, I'm not at all ungrateful but I do have to stress that those files are not useless, as they do carry important data on the disc that is lost if they are not included or not generated properly. The data cannot be used to rebuild a bit-identical copy of the original disc, this is why wcd and other sharing communities have such strict guidelines as to what constitutes a truly lossless rip. Lossless rips or not you've still done everyone a great favor by sharing material many wouldn't be able to hear otherwise and that's something I'm sure we're all very thankful for

The song is pretty horrible but that's what makes it so great… terrible, but great. You haven't lived until you've heard the 10 hour version ;)

I get your sentiment, but MrRom sounds like a nice guy, I don't think he was belittling your effort. This thread was created by audio perfectionists for audio perfectionists, and it's just not true that a .cue file doesn't affect a rip. It's the only way to *perfectly* re-create a CD with proper gap or gapless transitions, etc. I think most people in this thread appreciate that they can find like-minded perfectionists. We're all posting our stuff "out of sheer kindness". I myself have posted several of my own rips, and in return we get access to each others' stuff, so try not to let another person's rip of the same thing bother you. All part of building a nice little community of video game music geeks!

Well, I can't honestly blame him for making a rip with a log and a cue and posting it in here. If I cared about the Splatoon soundtrack enough I would have done it myself. I don't get the impression he was belittling your effort.

It's just, well, having a log means that I can actually check that your CD drive didn't somehow fuck up the ripping process - and if there's some sort of weird silence, or a random gap in the middle of a song, I don't have to cross-examine other people's rips to see if that was supposed to be there or if it's some sort of manufacturing/mastering error - I can just look at the log and go 'Oh, it scored 100%, guess it wasn't the ripper's fault' or 'Oh, that track had an error, no wonder it's messed up.'

Having a log - having a cue is significantly less important to me - is a great sign that it was ripped properly and without errors. It's also an indicator regarding if some guy did what I've seen in this thread before, which was post a youtube conversion to FLAC and pass it off as """""lossless"""" - obviously it wouldn't have a log, et cetera.

I'm not going to demand every post in this thread have a log - the two CDs I just posted on this page were mora.jp digital releases, so there's no way I can get a normal log for the 24/96 content because it wouldn't fit on a CD in the first place. It's just something nice to have. I mean hell, if you're posting on what.cd they're real sticklers for the inclusion of the log - to the point that the log score is right there on the title of every CD link on the site.

On this note, I think it would be great if there was something similar to accuraterip/CTDB but specifically for web releases (of any resolution) which of course would not have a log or cue available and so "downloads of indeterminate origin" are in effect harder to verify. All it needs to be is a database of md5s on a per album basis that tells you the audio data hasnt changed (or simply been made up) as it has passed hands. Like, X amount of people have identical files for this album, Y% of X are verified purchases (submit a receipt) , etc. something along those lines.

Something similar is sometimes included in downloads that tells you something isn't transcoded from lossy audio, but that bit of info is pretty useless and doesn't really tell you much of anything re. provenance

Wish my programming skills weren't so subpar :P

I don't think it's a waste of time to attempt to educate people why having a log and cue included in your upload helps everyone out.

Logs can be faked (and if the user ripped with an older version of EAC, good luck with getting checksum or stuff "checked", heh), folks, I've seen it happen (not here, luckily).

@Lefance:
MrRom92 didn't belittle your effort, other lossless collectors would have been definitely more "pricky" about the topic, good thing most of them either left, or simply lurk. View it this way: there are more options for everyone, someone who mainly cares about listening would be perfectly fine with your share, someone who would like the chance to archive/backup stuff is probably going to pick MrRom92's rip.
Still, something not to be overlooked: the Shrine has no strict set of standards to follow, when it comes to ripping, etcetera and, by proxy, neither does this topic, officially speaking. The tutorials/whatever you have in the OP are not something to force on people. Share what you want, if someone isn't happy with the way you've done things, his/her goddamn problem. There's always something folks will complain about, so tune them out and don't let it get to you, might be nice to remind that kind of folks they can always purchase the album and rip it themselves.

Oh I must have worded my post a little wrong. I was taking a jab at people who don't include log/cue files with their uploads who also debate on why they think it's useless. It takes no time or effort to produce the files but it does take time and effort to attempt to justify not producing them and then starting a huge argument which could last pages lol

I may as well be the biggest fan of the Ecco the Dolphin series on this whole damn forum, as far as I'm concerned. I absolutely love the gameplay, the concept (or idea), the feel(ing[s]), the visuals, Ecco, and the music especially.

I was only a bit surprised to discover that there was no music of this product archived in this thread, let alone threads that contain still-active links, that are lossless as well. I thought I would spread my passion for Ecco through these VGZ gamerips of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive games, including the slighted Ecco Jr. (It almost seems as if the series itself is unfrequented, sometimes regarded by few as obscure or abstract.) and to be shortly ensued, Spencer Nilsen's scores for the two SEGA CD games of the series, which I in many ways prefer of their Genesis counterparts. Though they won't change the history that was my first introduction to the series through my initial listening of the Genesis version of the first game's soundttrack. :p

Enjoy!

You'd rather me use level 8, than 5? I actually didn't choose level 5, it was... pre-set to that value, and I had used level 5 before, and knew that it was fine. To be frank, I don't really think it holds much importance. Lossless is lossless (I re-verified by the spectrogram before posting, of course), and as long as the files aren't too large, it's all good.

Somebody has seen the quality in a lot of tracks of this ? what kind of crap is that to be 24bit/96KHz ?

I theorized that some of these tracks were recorded in different situations and at different times. Some of these tracks have a very clear cutoff at 21khz or whatever, like a normal CD master. Some of them are true 24/96 and fill up the entire spek analysis I run on them. I wouldn't call being '24/48' crap quality, that's ridiculous, but you're right, I don't think it's pure 24/96.

For example, Trails of Cold Steel had a 24bit soundtrack when it came out, but it was 24bit/48khz, not 96. I get the feeling that this particular soundtrack was a mix of the two. Ys 8 has been in production for a really long time (I believe they were working on it when Cold Steel was in development, even) so it could be that their workflow migrating from producing 24bit/48khz versions of their soundtrack to 24/96 has something to do with it. I know The 3rd Evolution has some cutoffs like this on its soundtrack, too.

Then again, I could just be wrong. I got this soundtrack (and 3rd) from the Chinese and the guy posted this receipt in his thread because he bought the files off of mora.jp:

So unless he was lying and photoshopped/edited a webpage to look like this, my explanation seems to be the most likely one.

EDIT:

I looked back through previous 24/96 releases Falcom's made, and FC and SC Evolution had this too. It seems to be a running theme that every major 24/96 soundtrack release I possess from Falcom happens to be a mix of 24/48 and 24/96 that is all encoded to be 24/96.

Thanks so much for all the Ecco stuff! The Pico port of Ecco Jr. Was one of the first games I ever owned. I guess you could debate all day long if that's a real console or not, but whatever it was - it was my first, and that cart was one of my faves.

I love Spencer Nilsen's score on the Sega CD version of Ecco. As much as I love collecting this stuff I can honestly say that's one of the few video game soundtracks I can oftentimes put on and just listen to. The New agey stuff processed with Q sound sounds freakin huge on a good system. It's mostly sample and synth based, early 90's at that, so it's unnatural and weird but it's cool. I like it a lot.

If you're handy with the flac cli and know some advanced commands, you can actually compress a flac *beyond* -8 believe it or not. But I generally don't recommend this. Whereas -8 only takes a few seconds to encode, these advanced instructions can increase that time to hours, and the savings are fairly minimal. A few MB off your standard 16/44. Savings can be bigger on higher resolution files and I'll generally only do it to those. And only when I'm away from my computer as you can't really do anything else the way this taxes the processor :P

Maybe a little pointless but if you have a sizable collection you can eventually reclaim a few lost GB you wouldn't have otherwise, which is nothing to sneeze at even if storage is cheap nowadays. It can help a little if these are files you intend to put on portable devices where storage is at a premium, and of course it's nice to be considerate of those with bad bandwidth or ISP caps if these are files you are sharing. So I actually did this to my Splatune upload (only shaved off about 4mb) and I also compressed the rar as much as I could - not that there was anything left to compress. You'll see, if you re-encode at your standard -8, your files will probably grow by about 4mb

Well, that's strange, I'll check to see myself.

I'm not sure what you mean, otherwise. All of it is lossless - just because something is actually 24/48 instead of 24/96 doesn't mean it isn't lossless.

Like 99% of this thread is 16bit/44khz, not even 24/48, and it's still lossless - lossless simply refers to the compression used on the audio. MP3/etc is lossy compression, FLAC/APE/WAV etc is lossless compression. The bit depth and frequency aren't taken into account when someone talks about if something is lossy or lossless, but it helps categorize it.

Its not worth it to reupload again, the diference between level 5 and 8 is less than 1%.

Also, wavpack has higher compression level, though it takes an ridiculously amount of time to encode for a miserable gain of space. (It encodes at 3x speed on my PC, when flac usually does it beyond 100x speed).

What's really great about these games coming out in the early 90's, they didn't figure out yet how to squash the dynamics out of everything. All these CDs were mastered well. Sonic CD, you definitely have to crank it, but it sounds huge. There's like, 808s in one of the early levels? And it's almost like thunder. It's yuuuuuuge.. Also processed with Q-sound, a lot of the early sega cd titles were. Ultra atmospheric even if it's a lot more upbeat and rhythm-oriented than the Ecco soundtrack.

Thanks SO much for the SCD Bios tracks as well :) you are knocking it out of the park with these uploads! I'm gonna have to create playlists and put these before all the album tracks for the SCD soundtracks :P

Yes, it is. Both of the versions I uploaded are lossless.

One's 24bit/96khz, which is higher quality than can possibly fit on a CD so it was released on the internet.

The one I just uploaded is the 16bit/44khz version, which was ripped directly from a CD, complete with the log files.

Both are lossless, it's just that one is four times bigger than the other one because it's 24bit.

have you seen the spectrogram of several tracks on that you say that it is lossless ?
have you seen the same in the mini soundtrack ?

no, it is no lossless.

And if that is not lossless, is the rip bad or the cd itself?

Download the files and see it for yourselves. The content is indeed lossless but it is amongst one of the weirdest mastering process I have seen. Some pages below somebody mentioned that the music was composed and retouched by many different persons. Indeed the spectograms reveal some tracks that have a cut off around 22khz (about 2 or 3) others that have a cut off around 22 khz and then up to 44 khz in several parts of the song, lastly there are others that are well kept around 48 khz. Considering the austounding quantity of composers that falcom has, I would not be surprised that this game had an initial melody, then was retouched by many other people withing the group that was working with different instruments, with some of them not always reaching 48 khz.

I must admit though, this... is not the standard falcom quality, seems rushed to me in both composition and mastering. I'm a bit afraid of this since they are my favourite composers.

I always listen all of my OSTs, then have a list of the songs which have a particular mood and are really good in my opinion. Later on I put these songs on my phone. I have quite a large quantity of music divided by mood in folders. For this falcom OST things are:

[mora.jp][Hi-Res] イースVIII -Lacrimosa of DANA- オリジナルサウンドトラック [FLAC 24bit/96khz]
1 presentation
4 Battle
19 battle
31 reflection
36 stage
44 reflection
47 stage
48 stage
55 ending

which is quite poor compared to other falcom OSTs. Indeed sometimes it really makes you to want to skip to the next song.

I'll try both versions and keep the redbook one unless there's a difference.

I agree with you. I haven't tested the OSTs that Logi74 uploaded, but with the others I have tested (Ar Tonelico Series, etc), I didn't hear any difference. My 2 setups are Denon AVR-1712 with my Swans S500 and Valhalla 2 (Bugle Boys Tubes) + Bifrost Uber with my Sennheiser HD600.

I'm going to download both of them too for testing purposes, but I will most likely keep Logi74's CD rip.

This isn't Logi74's fault, this is the way it was released. Saddly, it happens a lot, it happened with Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn OSTs.

That's really cool, i also keep the turntable/amp for my father and it must be that old!

Btw, I was refering about how my gear is unchanged since then (and very happy with it). I've been trying new gear but was never never was able to justify its cost/value. Having custom IEMs with detachable cables was also a win-win.

The upgrade bug is something that's hard to fend off for a lot of people so I'd say it really speaks to the quality of your system if it's remained relatively unchanged for 10 years! Good stuff never goes out of style. I've been thinking about IEMs but I've never heard a pair I really loved. Then again, I suppose I've never had customs. More likely to finally splurge on HD800s though

Sometimes I would like to have soundtracks with video files.
As an example, you hear the song of "Rabanastre (FF12)" and you can watch a video that shows you the whole city.
From different perspectives, not images.
Do you know what I mean? That would be great.

It is surely possible to make that, but it certainly takes some time to implement it.

I don't recall how it was listed but the Mario 30th CD had a bonus track at the end, from super Mario maker which was at the time the latest Mario game (or maybe it was even upcoming at the time?)

Does anyone who has this know if it's listed as a bonus track or if it's simply hidden? And was Mario maker out before the cd? I imagine the same team would be handling this Zelda 30th thing so maybe we can expect similar and there could be the BotW theme. I think breath of the wild may have such little music it may not actually warrant a very long cd release. All I've heard so far is the theme, the slow temple of time theme, steppe talus music and the guardian music (either of which may be recycled for other mini bosses)

Edit: just checked vgmdb, that cd was in the works prior to super Mario maker's release as they were released around the same time. But the track is explicitly listed as a bonus track. So I don't think we'll have any hidden surprises here, oh well. Let's hope for a dedicated BotW cd - however short!

Yes, the Mario 30th disc released by Columbia too had some Super Mario Maker music, but the tracklist's been confirmed, and this Zelda collection won't include any Breath of the Wild soundtrack, I'm as sad as you.

Wow, a whopping 3 Tracks from the only actually good Game, Link's Awakening.

Mediocre.

Only good game? Ugh. We better not repeat that damn Sonic conversation.

It's fine if you don't like the games, but you have to at least acknowledge their objective quality and the fact it's essentially a lengendary franchise.

Also, it's an overall history compilation. Don't expect your insanely biased favorite to have the most tracks.

If it was a true History Compilation, every Game would be equally represented.

But i guess 3 Skyward Sword Tracks as opposed to 14 OOT Tracks is a good Deal,
since there have been Releases for both..... Wait a Second...

Yeah, I totally forgot about that. I'm so dumb. One shouldn't say that to validate their opinions.

Maybe because he said "good" instead of "like."

At least it's natural to argue why I like/dislike the things I do.

I always feel that the tracks chosen to be in Nintendo compilation soundtracks are chosen by people who have the WORST taste. The Smash 4 soundtrack, now this Zelda one.. Why are some games represented way more than others? Especially since they already have MULTIPLE soundtracks (like OoT)?

Like.. it doesn't cost them more to have a better selection of tracks, does it? I know it's subjective, but it's safe to say everyone wants NEW tracks as opposed to tracks they already have on other soundtracks, right?

Yeah why don't they just go digital? Makes no sense to me. Though they'd probably offer them in like 128kbps MP3 lmao

Yeah, but this should actually not be a problem for Nintendo etc.

They EXPLICITLY stated in the 60 (or whatever number) facts about Sm4sh video that a complete official soundtrack would cost more than the Wii U version of the game itself, which is why they only made a 2-disc selection.

PonyoBellanote

Doesn't Nintendo have to pay fees to the composers or anything like that for every soundtrack they put? Or they can literally just put all they have in a digital soundtrack and it wouldn't cost them anything? Cuz if it really wouldn't, they are doing a crime.

Maybe some Royalties, but i am rather thinking No, since most OST are made to Order and all Artists have recieved the Sums of Money
that was specified in their Contracts, plus they are mostly made in-House, so i'm pretty sure Big N owns the whole Shebang...

From what I understand, Nintendo (or at least Nintendo of America) doesn't own the rights to their own music (through some complicated legal hoopla), hence why so few OSTs are released in North America, compared to Japan which gets a lot more. I think that also accounts for why there are no digitally released Nintendo OSTs or a Jukebox feature on eShop, etc.

Jukebox feature on the eShop? The Wii U can't even play music, and the 3DS only plays mp3's and other non-DRM formats, doesn't it? I don't see how a Jukebox could be possible.

I think if they just added a Sound Test in all their games this wouldn't be an issue. I remember during the DS days Sonic Rush Adventure implemented an awesome sound test that let you listen to music with the DS closed, something I'd already been used to since I had a DSi and used it for my music listening, but for a DS game I thought that was amazing.
Nintendo games like the NSMB don't even have a freaking options menu, how lazy? Let us turn on/off bgm/sfx/voices at least.. Sm4sh nailed it with individual volume control, allowing players to mute the music to play their own on their sound systems (which is exactly what I did from day one).

I'd say that I purchase most bandcamp / loudr / CDbaby / etc. related stuff for myself (I think I've bought 3 copies of the Neotokyo soundtrack over the last couple years) the digital convenience for lossless quality is WELL worth the price of the album. The line gets a little blurry for me when we got to foreign doujin stuff. Anything more than a few years old, or produced by some niche little label, gets harder and harder to find. I've been met with quite a bit of difficulty finding certain doujins, digitally, let alone a physical release. We are seeing more and more circles doing dual releases of both a physical copy at some event as well as a release through and online distributor. WAVE is a good example of a group making the transistion. However, WAVE has been around for a very long time (long time compared to the usual lifetime of a circle anyway) and has a relatively large following.

I'd say it can go both ways. It might be physically impossible at this point to find certain things available for purchase. I don't know if I want to pursue this topic any further because of the moral gray zone, and the off topic discussion that may ensue as a result, but I felt the need to at least make that point known.

Back on track, the lossless music:

Well, to get to the next page, of course!

Lol, good one !

So Kids, what do we learn from this ?

Don't drink and post, or you'll behave like a Horse's Ass.

Final Fantasy XV - Kingsglaive OST

Since nobody else is posting it in FLAC and will only post MP3 versions of this I decided to buy it and import it from Japan.

Final Fantasy XV - Kingsglaive OST (FLAC) (https://mega.nz/#!rANXlabK!YQwk25ACOQ3rLlDyCHTXpYuDXttHifC2B4RIAlUFl1Y)

Enjoy.

P.S. - This is my first time posting a download. I was having issues putting in a pic for the cover of this. It kept saying I was exceeding the quota size which was exactly the same size as the file itself. 62kb. Please let me know if there is something I need to know in order to do this right.

Final Fantasy Shrine doesn't host Images themselves, i recommend using Imgur.

Here is a small Tut my hungover Ass made up on the Fly...

Hover your Cursour over the Image, then :

Finally :

Also since this is a Movie Score, i recommend making a Thread here : Film, Television and Classical Music Download Links (http://forums.ffshrine.org/forumdisplay.php?f=92)

It worked for him, didn't it ? I described the Method i use to him, if your's is so much better why don't you make a dedicated Post for it,
i am sure "drag, drop and shit" is super helpful to someone unfamiliar with the Basics.

Maybe go and fix your unreadable Signature and Posts before you go fucking mouthing off, eh ?

I don't recall ever saying "drag, drop and shit" so not sure why you said that in quotes :^)
My method is objectively easier than your method: easier to understand, easier to perform. It's so easy I don't even need to provide screenshots of me doing it ;)

Don't be so narcissistic in your writing. You might as well have wrote "So easy that I'm just better than you in every regard!"

Any method is viable, just as long as you can actually perform it. What MR wrote still is a legitimate way of doing an image upload as well. If anything, I prefer something complicated, as it allows you remember better really.

Just be more careful in how you judge.

I don't really understand, everything I posted is quite easy to read over here. I use a CRT monitor and a 4:3 resolution so maybe its a tech difference.

I can read it but it is quite difficult.

For me the issue is the choice of colors for the text.

Darker colors would make it much easier to read.

Like chrono said, different theme.

Long time user of this forum use the old theme style (dark one), when the newer user, use the white one (light).

Hence why you need to make a upload template working for both theme, like I do --> Thread 126974

I started to play Gray Matter but it was really sluggish on my old computer... the music got my attention, I will admit. That, and Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller (also developed by Jane Jensen's associates, I believe) was also great in terms of story and music.

Fuck it. I barely ever make a request. One, multiple times throughout the period of a year or two, I believe. I was reluctant until I realized that fact.

Searching for the following two albums (in lossless, of course)

Yes! Damn well you should! The score's reminiscent of John Williams' style in many areas, notably evident in the suspense cues as well. It's one of the best orchestral video game scores I've heard.

"Safari", "Heaven", and "Sunset" are immediate recommendations. You should see some of my play counts.
