I been looking for the original FLACS of Thunder Force III OST from the original CD pressing back in the day. Would be nice if someone can upload that and some of the really early Technosoft CD releases from the 90s.

I didn't even notice but it looks like Konami pulled pretty much all of their soundtrack releases from the EGG MUSIC distribution label (https://www.amusement-center.com/project/emusic/)
all that's left are the soundtracks for Crisis Force and Hyper Dunk, wonder when that happened

such a shame, I only ever grabbed their release of CVII Simon's Quest, and it wasn't even in lossless

I know I lost my chance to grab quite a few digital-only releases in lossless from Sumthing Else Music Works before they closed their doors in January (I know Halo Wars & Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare remain on 7digital losslessly, but anything digital I look for published by Sumthing Else largely seems to have been pulled from just about everywhere), as well as the Call of Juarez series in lossless from Qobuz after Techland got the IP back from Ubisoft & all digital-sales were pulled outright. At least in Sumthing Else Music Works' case, they largely provided physical copies, something Ubisoft Music doesn't tend to do (Goodness me, do they do consistently good digitally though with 24bit Lossless releases for all recent releases & even some older ones from sites that provide the quality).

The worst for me was when CD Baby stopped providing FLAC, even for previous purchases, making my FLAC copies of the Project Reality & Ty the Tasmanian Tiger series soundtracks perhaps "out-of-print" (Though I really should attempt to contact Scott Tobin to see if he can restore lossless availability of his music at all especially as I have the original ZIPs, not to mention make my unaltered FLAC copies of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger series available sometime if someone hasn't already).

Such seems to be the terrible risks of digital distribution unfortunately (Not that physical is without drawback of course).

It's likely due (Or justified by) the extra bandwidth lossless formats may or may not require. Bandcamp is one of the few I know of that makes no price distinction on your format choice, and while Qobuz charges a higher price for 24bit Lossless, you're granted the full suite of options including lossy formats with the purchase (Sites like 7digital & TIDAL just give you the single format you directly pay for).
At the time I purchased my CD Baby releases, I don't believe they charged me a higher price for FLAC, which if they had, that would make the fact that I cannot download my years-ago purchased music in the desired FLAC format dare-I-say legally suspect.

I've seen a number of previous sellers of music such as Loudr cease doing so outright (They have since joined Spotify, and if purchases after they ceased selling music couldn't be attained before, I can confirm they can't now), but when it comes to music on Qobuz that has been pulled from sale such as Halo: Spartan Assault & Spartan Strike, I think one of the Mass Effect 2 soundtrack releases and Titanfall (Before it got a restored release there), my purchases remain honoured & downloadable in the qualities as I purchased them. CD Baby on the other hand ceased providing MP3 & FLAC options across the board, and some releases only available in lossless there are not anymore regardless if you purchased them prior to the change.

It is stuff like this that makes me highly value the permanence of a physical copy even today, especially as we can at least digitally rescue the musical contents when their digital-sales decide to just disappear without warning (Same way I see games, especially after Deadpool got pulled from sale twice, Telltale Games suddenly collapsed, Scott Pilgrim vs The World has been rendered legally non-existent, not to mention the humongous list of online-only games rendered completely inoperable & unavailable)

I do have a complete set of TY volumes in FLAC, from mixed sources (two from a torrent tracker; likely from CDbaby copies) and the rest from Deezer and TIDAL, of my own rips.

Aside from that I also have the Steam MP3 because they were shared here once I think.

Looks like only Vol. 5's still available on the TIDAL Store (At least in my region), but I can definitely find Volumes 1-4 & even the Project Reality soundtracks on Deezer (Shame it doesn't have a storefront), which is nice to know indeed.

No problem! The only slight issue I found is the .CUE file with Ace Combat 2 ost Part I - it's broken. I had to re-do it. Other than that, superb collection.

Sure, but you may need to rename your .wav file like so:



As that's what it renamed itself after I ran the part 1 folder through CueTools and selected the Ace Combat 2 entry from its database. (See pic below)


Anyway, here's the .cue itself:

If it doesn't work just download CueTools (http://cue.tools/wiki/CUETools_Download) and drag part 1 of the folder to it and hit GO, then a dialogue will pop up which let's you select which release/track listing you want then hit OK and it will open up the destination folder with the new .cue and renamed .Wav file.

So Chrono Trigger is getting a Blu-Ray disc release very soon in similar vein to FF7, SaGa, and other select Square Enix games. Since only the MP3's will be provided in a different directory, what's the best tool you guys would recommend for ripping lossless audio from Blu-Ray discs?

a program called "MakeMKV", recommended by the first couple of guides i found on google, claims to be able to support lossless ripping of both audio and video from blu-rays and DVDs, though i've also read elsewhere that blu-ray ripping isn't an exact science and sometimes whether or not you can even do it depends on the make and model of your disc drive.
I also seem to remember having trouble trying to convert the Dolby digital audio tracks into something more usable (as not every device is capable of playing them back), but this was a couple years back, idk it could be easier now

Just a question about the log: it's a perfect log, but I'm wondering if these are the exact files that were produced along with the log, or if the log was sourced elsewhere? Did you just convert the wavs to tak after ripping? (I see the files were ripped to wav according to the log.)

Just a question about the log: it's a perfect log, but I'm wondering if these are the exact files that were produced along with the log, or if the log was sourced elsewhere? Did you just convert the wavs to tak after ripping? (I see the files were ripped to wav according to the log.)

It was re-checked with CueTools and verified with multiple databases, being re-encoded into a WAV image during the process. I then re-encoded the image to TAK with Foobar2000 and then corrected the cue sheet. The log may state WAV files, but if you were to run my re-encode through CueTools again, it'd verify back just the same. Just my personal workflow!

Looks like Jak 3 just arrived on Limited Run, with a collector's edition containing "Uncompromising three-disc physical soundtrack CD, which includes never before released demos and compositions". Unfortunately, the tamer Jak 3 Collector's Edition (https://limitedrungames.com/products/limited-run-258-jak-3-collectors-edition-ps4?variant=14320843980853) sold out when I found out, but the more extravagant April 26th PlayStation Mega-Bundle (https://limitedrungames.com/products/april-26th-playstation-mega-bundle?variant=14316917882933) along with standard PS4-Disc copies is still available when-writing for those with the budget (Unfortunately, Vinyl isn't something I can work with nor would I be in a position to pass on Lumines Remastered to anyone keen).

I have been able to locate re-sold copies of the previous games collector's editions (At least via eBay sellers), but as you'd expect, their rarity premiums are usually exorbitant. A real shame there's no digital option for these soundtracks.

The YouTube video does sound a little better than my GLA11. I tried to ask that StormDruid uploader but it seems he is inactive. I think he uploaded it in 320kbps though cause it really does sound better than what I have (192kbps). How come?

As requested, here it is. A wonderful, fantastic album, with gorgeous music, that is sadly expensive due to being out of stock. I wanna thank AcidBeast for uploading the 100% rip in a private torrent tracker. I thought you people deserve to have the best rip of this album, too, so here you go. Hopefully, one day.. As best as I've checked, BandCamp has no region limitation to speak of (Not on BandCamp's part at least). With only need of an internet-ready payment method & an email address to send the receipt & download link to (No account required at all), the only improvement I could even think that BandCamp could make is broad disclosure of when 24bit lossless is available (I've downloaded a number of BandCamp purchases I didn't even know went all the way to 24bit such as Warframe's soundtrack, with Lakeshore Record's releases for EA Soundtracks the only ones I know of whose BandCamp album pages make 24bit availability apparent before purchase & me knowing DUSK was 24bit only thanks to Andrew Hulshult's twitter post stating it). I would also be keen to have full staff credits included with releases (I am one particularly interested in knowing who & how many I have to thank for the music I'm enjoying, if not adoring), but most usually make use of the album description to share such information.

I think this summarizes very much one of the main reasons. It is not exactly about money or poverty, but more about the possibility to pay online. Certainly Bandcamp has not region limitations but some payment methods has; Paypal has some countries blocked, for instance. Some people, due to age or even disability has not financial independence (if that's the correct word to say it). Also some people prefers to avoid using digital money because ethical issues and concerns while having no problem paying with cash even when extra costs are added.

My personal case: I pay with cash whenever possible, but when it comes to the internet I also have an unverified Paypal account with very limited income, usually got from occasional small gigs. I use this money to purchase music albums and in the past used it to domains too, but as I don't get money very often I don't buy digital stuff very often. I always try to do it when possible, though.

This situation is especially frustrating when it comes to some Japanese, obscure "doujins" whose music is practically unreachable even officially throughout the author, but oftentimes the only way is buying expensive CDs in the second hand market using proxy services to import from Japan. Those sharing this kind of stuff for free are real heroes.

However, I understand the situation regarding Materia Collective is very different. They have all the music available for everybody in digital platforms and even Bandcamp. I personally think Bandcamp is the best platform to stream and buy digital music. And some said before, the founder even shared some of the albums for free download, even if limited quantity. If they don't want their music to be shared more than that, well... what can we do? I think that's better than ignoring rules and awaiting for the time when this forum gets demanded and closed because we didn't accepted the kind requests the original authors asked to us. After all, they could take action directly without even asking. It's fine enough that we all can share a lot more of stuff with no big problem at all. Preservation of the forum and its lots of shared music is more important than this "damn the rules!" attitude.

Just my personal opinion, of course.

Money is always something blocking people to access cultural content.
It has always been, and will always be.

Now, here we are, having some people that "can" do that without much hassle.

Some can even accept requests of this kind from time to time.
And if it has to be by PM for one person, just to respect the wishes of another logical request from the owner of the material itself, so be it.
I mean, they can't stop people from sharing (more or less), but if someone is even willing to pay for another one, it's even better.
Obviously that can't happen that often though.

Now, whenever people comes on forums like these ones, pester others to absolutely buy something (even when they don't like it),
just so they can grab stuff for free... Or complain because they can't, for once... That's not a good position to get into, even more willingly.

Without speaking pure illegality (rights and all), the majority of the stuff shared here is easily available without difficulty, with money or not.
But many others aren't (too old, unobtainable, need to be ripped, etc...) so it's not always about money after all.

But even in this whole grey area, attitude can still be a pain indeed~

Hey, I'll keep my eyes peeled for that soundtrack, I'm always looking to add rarities to the collection.

And it may be minor consolation, but I've created a FLAC gamerip and added it to my thread. It has most of the tracks from the OST, just missing the "Movie" and couple "Arranged" pieces. This is my first time hearing of this soundtrack, and it's phenomenal! I've looked up the composer and am working on ripping his 2 SNES games as well, Daikaijuu Monogatari 1 and 2, hoping they'll be good as well. He did some earlier games for the NES and GB, I'll check those out if the SNES ones are good.

I think this date is a placeholder on vgmdb to represent what could be the max time it takes LimitedRunGames to ship orders as they ship them in waves as they also give production updates.

It seems like the game was shipped on May 17th, but for the moment there is no unboxing video for the collector's edition on youtube, which is weird.

I'd certainly be tempted to if I could add it to my Solaris Japan shopping cart (Got my eyes on the CDs for Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, Metroid Prime & The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild there, along with Klonoa 2 but I badly need to get hands on with Klonoa's games someday soon). Maybe when I find an opportune time for my next eBay search for some more Ryu ga Gotoku CDs or Jak Limited Run copies (I certainly want the games too, but just kept missing the opportunity windows), I'll fetch myself a copy, but I've got some big preoccupations at the moment.

You're missing out indeed.

But I'll place a little biased note on that.
To me, the only worth Klonoa games are:
1997 - PSX - Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (obviously)
1999 - WonderSwan - Kaze no Klonoa: Moonlight Museum ("simplier" but still nice)
( 2001 - GBA - Klonoa: Empire of Dreams (still simple and kinda redundant, but in color~) )
2002 - PS2 - Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil (a must after the first episode, nearly perfectly emulated even)
The rest is at best a curiosity (action RPG?!) or really not interesting.

Don't I know it! I'm in an ideal position to play Door to Phantomile with a PlayStation 3 & PlayStation 2 on hand (Might opt for PS3 since I'll be able to get it first-hand, but going to have to make sure I'll be able to get 60hz out of it without any nonsense), but while I was previously holding back on Lunatea's Veil for more regional information, just now learning that PAL copies support 60hz just made it a whole lot easier for me to fetch myself one! (I really ought to familarise myself with PCSX2 & Dolphin once I make my move to Windows 10 though, especially as getting a commercial re-release for 5th & 6th gen Ace Combat titles seems evermore something licensing would rather not happen & I don't want to get too lost in regional differences or HD-solutions trying to revisit my dear GameCube or catch up on the PlayStation 2 heyday I keenly witnessed).

Bandai Namco may never let their poor lad see the power of a new platform, but damned if we're going to let him be forgotten (or continue to be mistaken for a Sonic character/knock-off).

I heard about that, as well as the digital comic that couldn't conclude either (I've still to read that one). Klonoa has never had it easy, even if Namco has given him quite the number of tries.

And I say "When I move to Windows 10" as I've got a little hardware updating/replacing and storage sorting to do along with it (Maybe a lot depending on my needs/choices), and certainly would like to be comfy with the new set-up before giving emulation the good tackle I should be (Blimey, the stuff they're pulling off with CEMU, along with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild modding is just irresistible!).

I know playing Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies, 5: The Unsung War & Zero: The Belkan War (X: Skies of Deception as well since I feel like making a stretch) with Dualshock 4 or Xbox Triggers would be a dream come true (We do have the AC5 PS4 "Emu-Port?" Pre-Order/Deluxe Edition Bonus, but I cannot seem to ascertain if AC7 Deluxe Editions out there contain it, which would be great to know considering I don't have a PlayStation 4 just yet) as well as see Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation get a frame-rate bump & not be Microsoft-exclusive, but I'm guessing licensing isn't just a matter of renewal anymore (I hear the Tornado & Panavia Aircraft GmbH is where the big problem lies).

Since Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC made a dream come true, I'll have to put a theoretical 'Ace Combat Collection' in the dream list alongside Sonic 1 & 2 Retromakes for consoles & PC (Sonic 3 A.I.R may prove an ideal alternative to a Sonic 3 & Knuckles Retromake for the time being, but come on SEGA, those are just unsent invitations for dosh!).

But I'm very much in line to see Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown get a CD release once it's post-launch wraps up, particularly as 3: Electrosphere, 4, 5, Zero & 6 have been the only ones ever in my reach (Thankfully we've someone who has a very thorough collection of WAV-rips (Thread 126974) of the series collection).

But Bandai Namco could certainly do with a good visiting it's past, particularly as Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown turned out so well despite the lengthy development (From what little I gathered, sounds like they hit a big bump or more in the road).

Concerning the MP3 that should be present with the "7th Dragon - limited Soundtrack - fragment" CD...

By finding clues using the physical discs, the covers and tracks' titles, it was possible to discover
a hidden link inside the the official game's website. By changing your computer's clock to before 2000 (heh)
it was then possible to uncover the final part of the link, letting you download a few more tracks in MP3.
The archive was named "Sound.zip" and was available after release only for a limited time.

Hey there I just downloaded the Wind Waker HD Sound Selections from this post (Thread 126974) and after checking the spectrogram in Audacity there is a weird cutoff at 16kHz. Was the CD mastered like that by Nintendo?

Hey there I just downloaded the Wind Waker HD Sound Selections from this post (Thread 126974) and after checking the spectrogram in Audacity there is a weird cutoff at 16kHz. Was the CD mastered like that by Nintendo?
Yes, both, the normal edition and the HD edition. The HD version is exactly the same as the normal but with the volume increased.

Thanks, and yeah the fever got decimated, but respiratory access to air and sustainable sleep periods are still a freaking pain to get a hold of for now.

I'd certainly be tempted to if I could add it to my Solaris Japan shopping cart (Got my eyes on the CDs for Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, Metroid Prime & The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild there, along with Klonoa 2 but I badly need to get hands on with Klonoa's games someday soon). Maybe when I find an opportune time for my next eBay search for some more Ryu ga Gotoku CDs or Jak Limited Run copies (I certainly want the games too, but just kept missing the opportunity windows), I'll fetch myself a copy, but I've got some big preoccupations at the moment.

Also, damn, that Jun Senoue The Works CD only has 4 of the 8 S.A.M.E. tracks. I was really hoping it would have all the tracks from volumes 1 and 2. Still looking forward to it releasing!

I tried converting it from FLAC to MP3 with no success before; none of the songs were able to play as it doesn't recognize the songs converted to MP3.

I think the solution here is for you to learn how to actually convert audio instead of asking someone else to do it. With any converter worth their salt, you should simply drag and drop the files and click "convert." Use xrecodeII or dbpoweramp, with MP3 V0 quality (or 320kbps if you can't find the V0 setting for whatever reason).

Yeah, just figured it out. Of course, some, if not most, songs, lack ID3 tags (e.g. song names, artist names). Not just Sega GT 2002, but also Scud Race.

All you can do is tag them yourself if they weren't tagged originally.

I use mp3tag cause it let's me autofill lots of things.

And despite it's name, it doesn't only work on mp3s.

After installing:
- open it and go to the "EDIT" section.
- drag&drop the original files with tags in the white left space.
- select all the tracks, right click on the first, "TAG Copy".
- Drag&drop directly the files you need to copy the tag on, directly on top of the ones already there.
- Select them all, right click on the first file and "TAG Paste".

That's it~

Alternatively, if you don't have any tags but the files are named accordingly enough (like Artist / number / names),
you also can generate partial tags from these files' names by using the "GENERATE" section.
Just make a scheme according to the way the files' names are presented.
To continue like the example above, it would be something like %artist% %track% %title%.
You can preview the result immediately on the same page, so if the name is typed in a specific way, place the stuff the same way:
Yuzo Koshiro - 01. Bare Knuckle.flac > %artist% - %track%. %title%

The soft let's you "Preview" on a list the changes too (bottom right button) and if you messed up the action somehow,
you can just go back on your last action with the little arrow on the top left, just below EDIT.
