At least I know what to do with mine once it arrives, thanks for that.. I'll add it to my collection folder, so in case something happens to your link it'll be there for others. I will however still have it in my physical collection on VGMdb once it arrives lol
Edit: Your log checks out with 100%, so this rip is perfect :) .. I will not be ripping mine at all, just an FYI to anyone that was waiting for me.

Heh, yes that DVD is the same release as the vinyl. Looks to be quite a bit extended. Shame it's not lossless but again there's not really much of anything interesting on it anyway.Pretty much. Only cost me a few quid.
The pacman record is not pac man fever (I've got that too) but rather this bally-midway commissioned abomination

There's also a donkey kong one but I don't have it. I'd be afraid to hear it if I did.Huh, I didn't know about these. I knew there was a similar "kids' records" release for Asteroids. I imagine they're all terrible.

Is the limits based on your own account, or the person sharing it?
You can try downloading it from me, as you are a subscriber.. not sure if it would make much difference in your case though, also I can download it via jDownloader just fine, not sure what problem u are having though. Worse case import it to your own MEGA account and try that way?

It's no bother at all. I'm currently uploading the parts to mega as I type this. The parts are 200mb a piece. If you want the parts to be more megabytes so there are not as many parts, please let me know. I could also upload the full thing to 4shared or Mediafire if that would help.
---------- Post added at 10:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:40 PM ----------
No, apparently the limit is on my end, as I have a free account. Now if I download more than 500-1GB in several files, I have to wait 4 hours. If it's a single, large file, jdownloader (with or without account data) says it's temporarily unavailable. On browser it let's me download, but reaching the limit it pauses and gives me crap for 4-5 hours and sometimes it cannot resume. I don't know if it's account based or something regarding my location, as I've been able to use a proxy to download some large files without limit.

Lack of detail in the statement. Considering the whole thread has currently been about the Sonic 25th thing, it was assumed that's what it was about, since I didn't see anywhere what he was actually referring to. Plus, saying 2 CDs didn't help.

I also have that really fucking terrible pacman picture disc from the early 80's. The music is downright terrible, and I will say my copy is not particularly in the best shape. Sadly the seller I bought it from highly over-graded it. That said, it's no more unlistenable than the material already is. There are some very lo-fi examples of it on YouTube if nobody's ever heard it before. You should be glad that you haven't if this is new to you.
I grew up with that record. It's pure novelty, I'll admit, but I have always enjoyed this cut from it:

That's old news. Brad Buxer, the musical director that assisted Michael on Sonic 3, was a keyboardist for The Jetzons. Considering the song wasn't released at the time, he decided to use the instrumental for it on Ice Cap. Another legal battle to fight now as the result.

Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Anniversary Selection is another example of poor mastering and DVD authoring.
The CD audio is compressed (as in "soft clipping"). Palmtree Panic is extremely loud.
The DVD video is one single, 16:9 video stream. The problem is many chapters contain 4:3 content, so the video content incorrectly compensates for the horizontal stretching the DVD player does to achieve 16:9 (DVD-Video is 720x480 pixel aspect ratio). The resulting width of the compensation is about 607 pixels, so we lose 113 pixels of horizontal resolution for the 4:3 content. Also, I think the black level was off for the Sonic Adventure 2 Battle video... probably others (full vs. limited RGB). I guess the best quality video for the Sonic CD intro remains from Sonic Gems Collection...
I demuxed the audio track for the Sonic CD intro video. I think 44.1 kHz was upsampled to the 48 kHz LPCM. At least we get LPCM:

I honestly don't understand what they were going for with releasing a DVD. A Blu Ray or digital HD downloads would have been more practical as literally no one wants anything under 720p these days lol

I would've assumed that they would've pulled pre existing audio files (which they probably did for some), but "remastering" was probably their way way of trying to differentiate the previous releases.
Isn't 48khz always just 44.1khz, just a bit higher? What's the point if it doesn't go high enough.

Upsampling is lossy (introduces artifacts). Whether we can hear it is irrelevant; it's objectively lossy.

Let my high-quality hardware do the oversampling instead. ;) Interesting read:

For Sonic's 25th Birthday and my Post Number 2000, here is Green Hill Sessions,
the Soundtrack that started it all remixed by OCR Veteran Jivemaster.
Pretty much the best (commercial) Sonic the Hedgehog Arrangement Album there is...
All the Songs are stellar, but if i had to pick a Favourite it'd probably be
Springyard Funk (Sonic - Spring Yard Zone)
Enjoy !!

I honestly don't understand what they were going for with releasing a DVD. A Blu Ray or digital HD downloads would have been more practical as literally no one wants anything under 720p these days lol
Most of the content in the DVD was SD anyway with the exception of the latest stuff, that'd be gorgeous in HD.
Anyway I think this guy is cmplaining over nothing. While I have noticed the mistakes I don't think it's that much of a big deal.

I agree, I actually appreciate it when someone points out these things.
It doesn't somehow automatically negate any value it holds, it just goes to show where things could have been improved, especially when you're paying money for something (assuming you're buying it). I, for one, am thankful of "this guy".

Then how are we to know that it was ripped correctly?
You don't, unless a different rip shows up, simple as that (as far as mixi is concerned, that is). Remember, the Shrine doesn't "officially" impose many quality standards: somebody wants to post just .flac/.tak/.ape/etcetera files? Go ahead. I understand the importance of that bunch of files, but honestly, guys and girls, let's not forget that what we're doing is illegal: there's an amount of risk involved and even though some enjoy sharing with others, it doesn't change the fact that we're dealing with folks to which we don't owe anything (nor do we have to satisfy/follow their quality standards). Most stuff shared on the Shrine should be viewed for what it ultimately is: a goddamn gift; someone decided to be kind and share something with you, without any obligation to do so.
You don't get your .cue/.log files, this time… Tough luck. You can always wait/hope for a different rip.
MrRom92
07-17-2016, 04:40 PM
That is entirely true, however I don't think it can be considered lossless if it can't be confirmed as accurate with a log, or especially if typical cue data extracted from the disc (such as metadata and track structuring) is discarded. And especially so when that data would assist in verifying the rip in the absence of a log.
So while I am grateful that everyone is willing to share the rarities in their collection… it must be said that:
A. It is of minimal effort to do this properly
& B. Improper rips should not be shared in the lossless thread, or at least be marked as such. I personally don't have any data caps but I would imagine someone who does would not be happy to realize that they just wasted their time and data downloading a large compressed archive only to get sent straight to the recycling bin.
Leon Scott Kennedy
07-17-2016, 06:16 PM
Hm. The lossless VG thread V2, being hosted at ffshrine, still has to comply with its rules (and no, I don't think me or the other Staffers would be happy with having to enforce a "user-made" set of rules), bottom line: so called improper rips can be posted, despite what some users of this thread might think, this thread is nothing special and won't be getting special treatment, as far as I'm concerned, at least. Generating cue/log files might require minimal effort, but in the end, one of the few things which make the Shrine somewhat bearable to "share at" is that, as far as rules are concerned, it leaves a lot of free reign to the uploader, we're not terribly strict on how, or what a user should share (unlike other boards/websites), it ultimately is his/her call. And, quality of the audio files may indeed be lossless, even without a cue, or a log accompanying them.
And, it could be argued mixi did mark the rip correctly: on that quoted post of his I only see FLAC; no mention of cue/log anywhere, so why would one think such files are stored within the provided package?
Oh, right… Data caps may affect the uploader, take that possibility into account, too.
Since we've touched the subject, I'm going to leave this here, food for thought… Let's assume someone shared something which doesn't fit my quality standards (which, trivially speaking, are non-existent, I gratefully take whatever is provided, as long as the release interests me), here are some of the "choices" I can make, given my role as a mere downloader in that instance:
- Politely ask the user if he/she feels like ripping again with different settings (not throwing a fit if the answer given is "No");
- Shut up, delete the useless data and act if nothing happened. Yeah, I've wasted my time and some space on the HDD, but the latter I can fix fast and, well, the risk of downloading something which I'm not really happy with, for whatever reason, kind of comes with the "job";
- Shut up, delete the useless data, search for the album and, if I get lucky, buy it and do the rip the way I like it done.
Where's this? Where's that? The first iteration of the lossless VG thread all over again, great… I knew it would happen, it was only a matter of time. This place (I mean FFShrine as a whole) gets worse with every day, what a shame. Be glad I don't administer shit around here and I don't plan on becoming an administrator.

Lemme guess, you like Nintendo Music... ;)
Yes! :D Especially SNES. Maybe because I have almost always played games for Nintendo consoles.
I don't really know the games or the music for PS3/4 or Xbox-series games.
Oh yeah, next soundtracks for Final Fantasy, Sonic, Kirby, Seiken Densetsu, Pokmon, Twinbee and so far,

Thank you, and what's the best here at resampling quality?
I'm currently using Resamplex (SoX) mod2, which you can find here :
https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,67373.0.html
So far I have only used it for the Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon OST (it has a sample of 24000 Hz, which isn't supported by my bifrost Uber).
I currently have the next configuration :
Also, if you don't use Wasapi, Windows will resample everything automatically.

Well some mobile audio devices have shitting sound quality, so equalizers are used to help "improve" the sound.. not in particular with quality, but you add things like more treble, or Bass, or w/e is between.

The way I use equalizers is I compensate for the varying thresholds of pain across the audible frequency range. I turn up the bass and treble and leave the mid ranges alone, more or less.

I don't fuck around with any dsp in my main setup, and for portable audio the only dsp I use is volume control.
I use FLAC player on iOS. It's $10 but it's about as good as you can get till there's an official solution and apple finally supports these files so they can be integrated as a real music library.

Some DSPs are quite good. The resample one is a must if your DAC doesn't support an especific one (If you are not using Wasapi or something similar, then windows is modifying the sound). Bauer Stereophonic-to-binaural DSP is great if you are getting fatigued with your current setup (I had to use it with the Modi2U/Magni2 and with the BifrostU/Valhalla2 (stock tubes this one fatigued me the most), I changed the tubes of the Valhalla to some bugle boys and don't need that DSP anymore).
If you need to equalize a lot your headphones, then it means that those headphones aren't right for you and it might be best to change them.

Hehe, yes I should clarify that's one of the rare instances I enable any sort of dsp. For instance, gamerip flacs that need to be resampled on the fly from non-standard sampling rates that my DAC (wasapi through foobar) doesn't know what to do with. Simply out of necessity. But in 99% of cases, I try to keep things as pure/simple as possible. I wonder if the mobile version of foobar allows for plugins/addons that can provide those things? May be a valuable tool for those who do like their dsp and want it on the go.

wasapi is just to enable bit-perfect playback in windows, there's a plugin for foobar2000 that allows you to pipe audio using wasapi
you don't need it to listen to music if you're using winamp already, it's mostly just an audiophile thing

I don't think I understand the significance of this.
It's simply a more direct interface with the audio device that bypasses Windows audio mixer, which actually resamples and mixes your audio. There might be a way to configure Winamp to behave this way, but If you're pleased with the performance of your pc audio setup so far and don't want to go so far down the audiophile rabbit hole, then you're probably fine and don't need to worry about it. The pickiest will typically demand bit-perfect playback and what that basically means is that the original audio samples as stored and dictated by the sound file are passed to the converter untouched and unaltered.

Whether someone can perceive a difference is irrelevant. The fact is that you have more than one choice of how to transport sample data in a Windows system. Why would you choose a method (DirectSound, which uses the Windows mixer, etc.) that objectively compromises when you don't want your audio mixed in the first place?

The Vertiphon Remastered ThunderForce albums are corrupted.
WHAAAAA?_?
I downloaded them on another computer and checked the files, everything is fine :/
Are you sure about this?
I could eventually try to reupload them if you still have an issue

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone managed to get TPR's Wind Waker album "Farewell Hyrule King" before Nintendo made him take it down? Thanks.

Can anyone tell me what's the _full_ "exactly/best" settings is for foobar with Wasapi?
The web is full of "that's my settings, your setting is bullshit" / "why you take wasapi, is useless for human hear" /
"that's my story (but I don't have an answer for you) blah blah blah..."
That's annoying! ..so please, help me ^^'

Hey uhh please don't kill me for being off-topic but does anyone want to play Rocket League on pc with me?
Actually, I'll make this on-topic: the Rocket League ost is hella good, and you guys should check it out whether you play the game or not.
I've been searching for this remix in lossless or anything better than simply downloading the youtube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP369OWR6uY
Does it exist anywhere?

Personally, I just switch it to event and leave it at that. I notice a huge change in volume immediately on switching it over, but that may be because my laptop has Beats by Dr. doesn't know wtf he's doing. It's also the one of the models where you can't change the treble, bass, etc. values in the windows mixer yourself, and if you disable beats it changes everything to -10 so you'll believe beats sounds better.
Although, I notice the same huge increase in volume when changing it over on my desktop as well, but that's also just got the speakers fused into the monitor so that's probably not reliable either. I usually aux out to a decent sony speaker, but if the internal windows settings are set to alter stuff so they suit the dedicated speakers then that would explain it.
Pretty much, low volume culls the bass so the treble stands out, and high volume boosts the treble into noise territory. Wasapi ignores all of that.

Huh, this is the first time I experience this:
So this used to be my setup:
http://imgur.com/uVXM49h
But then I wanted to add another output cable set to "headphones" that goes to my home theater system in the other room.. Doing so meant I got absolutely no bass since bass management is turned on. If I turn it off, I get bass in my hts but no bass on my computer's 7.1 setup.
I found that turning off surround speakers as full-range made my hts get bass while bass management is still on:
http://imgur.com/TLRx9Mk
However, now whenever I'm listening to music and playing a game, if there is a loud sound in the game, my music gets quiet to "compensate" or something..
Does anyone know what I can do? This is very frustrating.
Also, side note: disabling both full range speakers and enabling both full range speakers makes my computer's subwoofer sound very loud compared to when only front left and right is enabled as full range.

I'm really really hoping they do this soundtrack justice with proper looping and variations similar to the game rip version.
You rarely ever see a looped version from an official source.. sorry to say..

- Ideally keep volume control as downstream as possible
- Prefer event-driven mode over push mode, unless your hardware can't handle the former well.

In foobar output settings you'll want to change over to WASAPI (event) and all should be good
I do all my volume control at the pre-amp, that's about as far downstream as you can get. Only downside to this my pre-amp is from 1974, so it's also pre-remote controls :P
Not a huge deal with LPs since generally you get up, set the volume, and you're good to go till the record ends. But with digital, tracks can vary wildly in volume from one album to the next. It's all good, I could use the exercise. (But I am devising some sort of motorized solution with an arduino board)

I'll PM you if it works.

Sadly, No. All the source are dead it seems but maybe someone else around here "owns" it.
I'll PM you as well if mediafire works.
Sorry for the issue :/
EDIT:
Okay, so, It works on my end now.
The issue was withe the pathing (the file names were too long), if you still have the files, just shorten the name of the .zip and it should be just fine.
I shortened the files on MEGA as well, so ther shouldn't be any problem anymore
I certainly learned something @__@

Last time when I came across Tee Lopes his Sonic remixes were mostly just your usual boring instrument-swapping stuff. Good to see he's improved and gained more originality in these years.
Still, I'd wish Sonic Mania could get more composers rather than just him alone. An all-star team from the fandom like the BtS/AtS one would be much better.

^^^^^^^^^^^ 100% this. I was going on about how good GameChops' Spindash album was with a small group of friends last year and they were all like "wow this sucks, Tee Lopes is better" and I insisted that Tee Lopes did NOT make remixes since they were just instrument swaps that ANYONE could do, and then I saw on his channel that he himself says they are "reimaginings," not remixes, but you know how groups of friends are.. They just brushed it off and insisted Tee Lopes > GameChops :P

Ah Man, sorry about that, i didn't double check,
just saw that it displayed the File Size and thought
that meant the Link was still active (which it should do)
Gee, thanks 4shared for making me look like an Idiot...

You can convert the .tak to .wav with the next software

I will try finding the other 2 albums, if not, I will buy them and rip them.
By any chance, is there a link for Akumajo Dracula X Chronicle Original Soundtrack (
http://vgmdb.net/album/4715). Haven't found any so far. Thanks in advance and hope someone could help me.
So no one, I guess?
