It's been open source and royalty-free since late 2011. Foobar2000 has native support.

I'm wondering how Mario Kart 8 manages variations, e.g. Cloudtop Cruise is 3:41, however, each loop itself is only around 1:20-1:25 I think, and two loops (i.e. one per variation) would be approaching 2:50 or so. 3:41 is obviously way longer than two loops, yet not long enough for 3 loops (like how they did with Super Mario 3D World's beach theme, that is, two ground loops then a single underwater loop), so it can't be a two loops of the normal version and then one of the inside cloud version (unless they do their trademark not-full-version-for-no-reason-and-have-only-half-the-in-cloud-version-playing-because-they-can-never-put-the-full-versions-of-their-songs thing?

With it's beats that are... off and such. Composed by the guy who did Kirby's Air Ride, I believe, and a few other Kirby's. Anyway, to my knowledge no one has FLAC'd this because it doesn't exist in native .spc format. It needed to be ripped in snsf format, which is a little bit more of a pain to work with. Anyway, tagged, faded, and relatively aptly named, here she blows:

In winamp, just change the sound output settings to nullsoft Diskwriter and it'll output the files in the playlist as .wav's in the folder you specified in the options.

My last package took 6 MONTHS and 16 DAYS. But it's really ramdom, last package from this redirector took a little more than one months. So that's why I'd say it'll take 2 to 6 months to arrive after they ship it :)

Even so, the track titles aren't really indicative of anything. Except for the first and (for the most part) the last. I guess I should try comparing the OST to the music lister in game and see if we can find any takers

I was under the impression that they ripped roms from n64 carts via the gameshark; since it links the game to the new itself I doubt it's possible to get the game data from cart > pass through gameshark > n64, get music sequenced/generated/whatever > audio data sent back to gameshark to be dumped

Then again, you can still save your games with the gameshark in the way (such as OoT) so perhaps you could rip sound this way

Older video game music is not streamed, like newer music, it's programmed or sequenced. In essence, instead of being a recording, it chiptune sheet music, it tells the system what to play, saving a TON of space (some songs are less than 1KB!). So you can have the quality as high as you can record it! I use 16bit/48k FLAC, though the highest available now is 24bit/192k, though I wouldn't recommend it; studies show only a nominal noticeable difference from high quality mp3 to FLAC, and they show NO discernible difference between 16/44.1 and 24/192. Also, the file size is 4 TIMES that of FLAC, which is already relatively large.

ANYWAY, if you want the best quality and don't mind not having library management (playcounts, playlists, id3 tagging), then I strongly suggest going with a chiptune player. Droidsound is excellent for Android, and you can configure WinAmp and Foobar to play them (though no tag support, most often).

Does anyone have the soundtrack to the first "Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology"? The one I have has many of the game original songs jumbled up with different songs, which is no fun.

Of course the main drawback of this method is that you are playing the sequence rips through software that ATTEMPTS to accurately emulate the sound of the console. Emulators aren't perfect. Plus the ripped sequence data can be botched as well. Which is why I have frequently made a big deal about how clownish it is to make FLACs or MP3s from sound code rips and emulators. It's just a waste of space which houses lies. It's pretty annoying that such crap is allowed in this thread (and even more so that clueless people actually want this stuff, yet they won't even do a little research on how to do this incredibly easy process themselves), but whatever, I've given up trying to fight that insanity. No one listens. I'm not even going to attempt to debate it any longer.

Like you say, people should just get a chiptune player for their device and be done with it.

Sigh, if only we had about dozen Iron Goats making recordings from actual console hardware.

The problem is that library maintenance is KEY for me and probably many others. Find me, if there was an extensive media library management program that offers sequenced music playback for most formats, local id3 tagging information, and an Android app that can do all of that AND sync back and forth playlists, playcounts, etc., I would be MORE than happy to switch. I'd pay good money for something like that. Trust me, I hate looking at a 20Mb song that's less than 1Kb sequenced, but I have an extremely meticulously managed library, and can't give that up for a native video game song rip with an indiscernibly more "perfect" sound. SUPPOSEDLY Foobar is working on a mobile app, but I haven't heard anything about that in months OR as to whether they'll support sequenced music... But I'm holding out hope.

It's understandable to disagree with people wanting a streamed format of video game music, but to call it clownish seems a little extreme. I'd be willing to bet that most people have a library of some sorts and .spc's don't fit nicely into their iTunes or whatever, and I'd rather have everything in one spot, as opposed to loading up multiple programs for different music. Educating people about sequenced vs. streamed is fine, but bashing people who want an mp3 just seems counterproductive. Of course it's not "perfect," but what ever will be? Honestly, I'm just glad I don't have to load up my various save files for different games at locations where my favorite song was just to pause the game and listen to it over and over (anyone else used to do that?) :D.

Agh, this seems like the best plan, but the inconsistency irks me.. Anyway, space-wise, I'll just do the official release, and keep the chip file on my computer/phone. That way I'll still have the chip file (and could play it if I wanted from Droidsound or whatever), I'll have the official release in FLAC, AND it won't be heavy on the space since the chip version takes up next to nothing.

Something about the gaps and track peeks matching up to the other versions that were uploaded there already, which they don't allow different country releases to exist if they already match the other versions.

The site has been hacked recently but their encryption is so advanced that nothing at all was at risk. I put my trust in them the same way I put my trust me my home alarm system. Others will have their doubts, which is totally understandable.

Plus, this is just a forum. I don't use lastpass for my paypal or bank accounts.

The hackers only stole the password hashes. I have been using lastpass since 2011 and I haven't had any problem. I use it with google authenticator, so I can only log in if I have my cellphone available or on my desktop pc.

In order to be secure it's best if you do the next :
- Different passwords on all websites
- Random passwords (numbers, capital letters, minuscule letters, and symbols (if possible)) with the maximum characters possible (there are sites that limit the number of characters to 8).
- I use lastpass, but the best security would be to either hide them physically on a place that only you know about. If you save them on your computer, encrypt the file.
- For lastpass and/or encrypted file, you could use a long phrase as a password, adding a symbol between words improves the security drastically.
- Finally, always activate 2-step authentication, it improves the security drastically.

My guess you were using a free account, and you didn't login from time to time (maybe they auto delete with no activity?)... Not sure but I'm on a Pro II account.. and I've never ran into any problems so far.

i apologize for being thick and uneducated about extracting these files. I've read forums on what tools can be used to extract, but am entirely unsure how to extract these files so i can play them back...is there a tutorial or link so i can read/educate on how to play it back...

Just to let everyone (and especially subscribers) know, that MEGA has fixed a huge flaw when it came to share via contact lists. When you forgot your password and you had to reset. This would make it so you would lose access to my collection. However MEGA has fixed this issue, the only thing is.. you have to notify me if you have to do reset password. So I can add you back However I am not sure yet if it takes both your email and my own in order to make the connection yet. However next person I have to do this with.. I'll test it out to be sure.

Anyway.. just letting you guys know.

Yeah have tried all that have just noticed as i use Real Debrid which is a Multiple account premium file host service when i paste the link into that i get this weird file without an extension but when i click on the link direct it take me to Mega with the .rar as its meant to be which is weird as ive used Real Debrid for years and never encountered this.

He used a number of straw-men and businesses to accumulate more and more Mega shares. Recently his shares have been seized by the NZ government. Which means the NZ government is in control. In addition Hollywood has seized all the Megashares in the family trust that was setup for my children. As a result of this and a number of other confidential issues I don't trust Mega anymore. I don't think your data is safe on Mega anymore. But my non-compete clause is running out at the end of the year and I will create a Mega competitor that is completely open source and non-profit, similar to the Wikipedia model. I want to give everyone free, unlimited and encrypted cloud storage with the help of donations from the community to keep things going.
