Same's true for anime Boss Lady. I found the Red Fraction opening to Black Lagoon here and now LOVE that anime. I found the soundtrack to Jin-Roh The Wolf Brigade and love that film too. I'm interested in playing Onimusha 2 because of the soundtrack.
Oh, certainly; anime, movies, TV series, you name it. I know someone that decided to play Shadow of the Colossus after hearing the soundtrack, as well as a few people that watched Cowboy Bebop after hearing its opening theme and the music for freelance remix album, and then actually liking the jazzy aspect of the series and the soundtrack. I also know someone that had never seen E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial , but did after having listened the music heard during the escaping/chasing scene and feeling ashamed and guilty for never ever giving the movie a chance.
They may call it BGM, but it's certainly more than that.
[...] To be honest as a fan and a person who's studying game art major, I'd love to be working on as an artist on this type of 2D platformers in the future.
That sounds awesome, MiL! Best of luck. :)

It's the exact opposite for me: I won't listen to music unless I've played the game or watched the anime/movie myself. The impact just isn't the same when you hear it for the first time without any visuals. The only exception is Goldeneye 007 which is banned where I live, so Perfect Dark became my favorite Rare shooter. So I listened to it separately and it has indeed some good tracks, but I can't enjoy all of them simply because I never saw them in a game.

So you're looking at getting into the industry? Too cool. I'm currently in my second year of a bachelors in Architecture, but for a while have been seriously considering a transfer into a computer science degree with a major in games programming. I kind of just fell into Architecture (both parents are Architects) but don't have anywhere near the passion for it I have for the games industry... particularly the indie scene. Although I can easily see myself becoming a workaholic though. That scares me. :)

Yeah - I hear you, man. Completely understand that angle. I honestly won't listen to a game's soundtrack beforehand if it's a game I intend to play. Usually the big studio stuff like Square Enix, Konami etc. I learnt my lesson years ago with, Azel: Panzer Dragoon RPG - still to this day, I frigging regret listening to that soundtrack relentlessly before playing the game. (It's one of my all-time favs)

On the DKR rip.. It shows up as..
C2 pointers were used (should be no)
AccurateRip not enabled for every track (needs to be enabled)
The drive was not found in the database, so I cannot determine the correct read offset. However, the read offset in this case was 0, which is almost never correct. As such, I am assuming that the offset is incorrect.

This is just a fair warning to anyone that is looking to rip any new VGM..
DO NOT USE A CD-R, OR USE A VIRTUAL DRIVE TO EXTRACT AUDIO CONTENT.. USE THE ORIGINAL CD WITH A NORMAL CD DRIVE!!
CD-R's are normally inaccurate (about 90% of them), and Virtual Drive's usually cause read offset errors.

The internet is full of surprises, I never thought I would find an architect and game art student here.
One of my oldest friends is not a student, but is trying to get into the industry anyway. He's currently working on a small game which he hopes to get on Steam via Greenlight once it's finished. He's a fantastic writer and game designer, but always ended up with failed teams. If he can find success with his current game he more than deserves it. He also has a fantastic soundtrack for it, in no small part thanks to me pointing him to some good sources for free music ;)

Yesterday I was watching my brother play GuildWars 2 on his lvl 80 Mesmer, and he played a variety of songs most of which I know and like, but then he played one track from a game I played a few times and didn't remember had great music.
The track was "Argon Refinery" from the PSN game "Shatter" on the PS3.
I LOVE this tune.

I wish I could say the same, but I can't.
For me (and I'm sure for most everyone) uploading isn't a problem, but downloading is a whole different story; and sorry, but I'm not going to install an "add-on" just to get the site to work. That's just asinine, to be honest. I will eventually get Jdownloader to get around this nuisance, but given my lethargic disposition, I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen.

That's just asinine, to be honest. I will eventually get Jdownloader to get around this nuisance, but given my lethargic disposition, I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen.
Understandable position, problem is that for now... with MEGA... unless you get that goddamn Chrome it's a matter of favourite "workaround". It's either install/use JDownloader, or get their add-on installed.
Oh, well, at least its speeds are decent.

At the very least there's a workaround that isn't another browser or an "add-on", so I think that counts for something.

I wish people knew how utterly crappy both RapidGator and Crocko really are and never bothered to use either. Ever. I mean, don't get me wrong, beggars can't be choosers, but if there's a point where a line should be drawn, it should be done when deciding to use either of those two services. They're just that awful.
While I'm at it, is there any possibility of a re-upload somewhere else, t3nk3n? Where is your choice, it's just that, as mentioned, RapidGator is relatively useless.

I hope that a time will come where such extension/web browser aren't needed for MEGA, but look at things from a different perspective: if worst comes to worst (more users switching to MEGA), you're left with installing JDownloader/Add-on... either way you're getting external software installed on you're machine. And, in the chance some of you are concerned with such website possibly tracking your "history/information".... I don't really want to come off as rude, but I'd like to point out two things: 1) Every goddamn file-hosting website keeps logs of stuff like IP addresses, at least to a certain extent, whether for statistics... or to give something to the Copyright/DMCA guys, shall the need arise. 2) They managed to track down the likes of folks behind the PirateBay, as well as the fat man in charge... If they want, they do come ringing your bell, regardless of how you protect "yourself".
Anyway, I can't really see MEGA as a a shitty file-host, actually...it's turning out to be one of the bests. Yesterday, while I was uploading stuff, I suffered 3 power outages throughout the day/processes, each time the electricity came back the upload resumed right where it stopped. I don't see many file-hosting websites offering such feature, for free, on top of that.
I'll probably switch and stick to MEGA for my future shares.

I have Firefox as my default browser and just use Chrome for navigating foreign language sites along with MEGA... I also use Tor (for stuff you can probably guess) I'd like Google to have as little access to my on-line life as possible. But no one says you can't have both.

So far everyone I've given links do doesn't have much of a problem with it..
And that's the way it should be; I would like to think people have manners and don't outright cry foul because you took time to share something regardless of the service you chose. I don't use MEGA, but that wasn't a reason for me not to show my gratitude; I owed you that much for simply considering sharing in the first place. Of course, that doesn't stop me from asking for an alternative, so long as it's done politely and in a manner that doesn't diminish the effort invested, even though the majority of the time I prefer to skip the share and wait for a re-upload.
I'm sure MEGA has good in it, I mean, MegaUpload was one of my top picks back in the day, but their haughty launch rubbed me the wrong way, and still does. When and if they ditch the "add-on", then I'll be happy to both use it and recommend it. Until then I'll make do with the other services out there - believe it or not, many of them are actually good.

Obviously, but one can hope it won't happen soon. It has got a Premium/Upgrade service, like its predecessor and... well... don't forget names like RapidShare, or MediaFire. Those are just two places which survived quite a few years in pretty awesome "free user-friendly" ways, in fact... they turned crappy and unreliable for illegal sharing mainly because of MEGAUPLOAD's fiasco. Rapidshare might have had 10-15 minutes of wait between downloads, at one point, but it also delivered pretty amazing download speeds to free users (I can only speak for myself and my connection, of course, but I was always in the 700~876kbps range).
EDIT:
Any file-host which raises in "popularity" has to... how can we put it... get down to Earth, at some point. Hell, look at this - Peeje (
http://www.peejeshare.com/):
0) No registration required.
1) 1 GB per file.
2) Unlimited storage.
3) No download-speeds caps.
It looked like a very promising "option" for file-hosting, but what do you know? A few weeks of it being used here at the Shrine and in a few other places and... Boom! Servers desynchronized (= a lot of uploads failed), buttons which should have generated the download links only refreshed the page, a lot of 404 and other servers' errors.
Everything turns into crap, at one point.... And the likes of us "sharers" are, arguably, one of the main reasons behind it. We abuse those services, they either close... or try to counter the "piracy-phenomenon" by getting worse.

I already had these, but thank you very much for uploading, Uvogin. I can also offer TalesWeaver Original Soundtrack Plus (

I've been searching high and low for it for quite a while now, so yeah, you have my unyielding interest, too. I actually alluded to it the day you shared Tales Weaver Exceed.

Lol, thanks Boss Lady. Seriously though, there's fetishism, then there's the Japanese. And I've always loved how unapologetic they are about it. Even if I do sometimes feel a tad dirty for seeing a few things.

Track 03 of disc 2 appears to be corrupt. 7zip claims a wrong password is given when extracted, but extracts it anyway. While foobar2000 recognizes its file length as 2:10, it only plays the first 120 seconds before skipping to the next track. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? If so, would a request for an uncorrupt copy of the file be inappropriate?

I snatched this using a Japanese P2P program many years ago and deleted the cue and the log files. No worries - I can guarantee this is 100% legit lossless.
The music has all the characteristics of soundTeMP: 90's K-Pop influences, groove, and your typical RPG themes spread throughout.
Granted, I only like the jazzy and cheery themes but I hope you guys find the whole album a satisfying experience. There is also an arrange album that I posted here (
http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/lossless-video-game-soundtrack-thread-v2-126974/11.html#post2276574).
I would appreciate some rep if you like this upload and/or have enjoyed my past uploads ^__^;;
Happy listening!
Thank you very much, Akashi. I don't know how long I've been looking for this, but I'm glad my search is finally over. :)
And while I personally don't like it when people ask for likes and/or rep, I'm still gladly going to give you some for obvious reasons, and also because uploading a 1+gb file is an effing bitch.
Thanks again!

Believe me, that's the first and probably the last time I'll ask for rep... :) Why? I have OCD and I am so close to getting 5 clean bars under my name. Sometimes I get out of my character and get really fickle with small things. And of course, none of you should feel obliged to give me any rep; I am only sharing for the sake of sharing.
For fans of soundTeMP, I also have Arcturus Soundtrack (

So while looking for the FF albums I stumbled across Legend of Game Music ~CONSUMER BOX~ (
http://vgmdb.net/album/6804) over at JPDDL - the album can found here (
http://jpddl.com/music/116010-album-va-legend-of-game-music-consumer-box-ape-/-lossless-/-cd.html) (comes with cue/log= rapidgator & depositfiles still up)... there's so much win on this!! :)
Anyway, in the related albums at the bottom of the page are these two releases:
Legend of Game Music ~Premium Box~ (
http://vgmdb.net/album/8087)
Legend of Game Music 2 ~Platinum Box~ (
http://vgmdb.net/album/1884)
They've been uploaded a number of times but all links have died (posted back in 2011) I've furiously tried to find these but could only come up with links on
http://115.com (
http://115.com/folder/fc3hslru) which are no longer available. Does anyone know how to access these from there?
I wasn't even aware of these two albums existing, but would murder to get them both... I realise these are probably too big for most people to post here if they have them (unless they have Sweden/Japan type upload speeds or a Seedbox etx.) but if anyone knows where to get them could they please tell... it's already killing me knowing I could've had these. Seriously indebted to anyone that can help. Thanks guys

JDownloader works perfectly with the RAW Mega links, no translation needed, and you should check out hugefiles.net (as long as you have the encrypt file names option checked when you create your RAR and ZIPs. Speed is fantastic, as well as availability.

I'm aware. I just figured nobody else besides the lossless VGM folks would care. Got a few likes though so I assume a few other people were looking for it too. I did make a thread for it, but no replies so I'd think my assumption was right. Figure the same prob goes for the Batman soundtracks, and the DBZ ones from a little ways back.
Also anyone happen to have the Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005) Soundtrack? I heard it was download only, so 320MP3, but most search results are transcodes/VBR. There's one 320 rip that floats around sometimes but the audio skips in the first track atleast, was hoping somebody here had a clean copy.

Nice! I'm def giving the High Stakes torrent a go! sadly there is no seeds, I'm gonna keep it up for a week and see where it gets. NFS III and IV had the best music in the entire franchise. I wish they went back to the same music, but they have to be appealing to every player's music taste Rock/rap/ etc. Rom Di Prisco's style is unique, the guy is outstanding.
Thanks for taking the time melon !

I think nobody can answer that question. Anyway, it's really not that big of an issue if it gets closed suddenly, after all in the file-sharing business you find yourself moving from a file-host to another pretty often, nothing is reliable.... Especially nowadays.

Mediafire is fine, but you can't use .rar files. They can't detect .7zip split-archives, so if he reuploads it with that it should be fine. All of my uploads on Mediafire are still there and they're all .7zip, so I speak from experience.

I think LiquidAcid meant use JDownloader ^_^
I'm DLing the Sekaiju no MeiQ 4 OST and Arrange at 700Kbps total with Jdownloader, while with the browser I was limited to 15-20 Kbps each part and it sometimes dropped the connection.
Edit : Erf first part of OST now downloads at 9 kbps D:

No. JD is bloatware and I don't really recommend it. HowFile should work with any download manager with resume functionality. I prefer something that is wget based.

I assume you're on linux. On windows there aren't many wget based downloaders as far as I can see... maybe VisualWget

I wish I was smart enough to know what either of those meant. I'm assuming the SPDIF you're referencing is the cable? S/PDIF - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S/PDIF)
Seems like I may need a SPDIF to USB converter/cable? Assuming audacity could record from that anyway....may not.
LiquidAcid
03-16-2013, 10:59 PM
Yes, you need something that can record from TOSLINK, preferably something that can provide this through USB. RME and M-Audio manufacture such products.
I don't understand your concert about Audacity. These devices provide a standard USB-audio interface, which you can access via WASAPI. IIRC this is bit-perfect, so no need for ASIO drivers and such hacks.
Despair
03-17-2013, 12:09 AM
Sorry, my tech knowledge is quite limited. My only experience with recording audio in from a USB was with a turntable, which had the audio actually recorded with Audacity. You gotta connect the WASAPI to the TOSLINK, then switch on the RME, switch the ASIO Drivers to ASIO Parkers, and USB the M-Audio.

Sorry, my tech knowledge is quite limited. My only experience with recording audio in from a USB was with a turntable, which had the audio actually recorded with Audacity. Think I had to set the input as the sound card though so I guess that'd be the same case here, unless you're saying there's a more direct way?
Vinyl is an analogue source, so "bit-perfect" makes no sense here. I suggest you read something about WASAPI (

Yes, I'm on linux. But I don't believe that you don't have any good GUI-based DL manager on your side? Wasn't there this wgetcli plugin for Firefox? Also FlashGot should use wget internally.
Personally I'm using this script: nopaste (

Why not Aria2 and Plowshare? These two are handier.

Think I got the idea, just can't seem to find an SPDIF to USB converter. Atleast not one that does just that.If I'm understanding the conversation, you don't want an S/PDIF to USB converter. The PS2 hardware supports TOSLINK (optical S/PDIF) out, consequently, you need a sound card with TOSLINK in. These are not hard to find.

The rip was done with a virtual drive.. meaning it was with a cd image instead of the original cd .. thats where the problem lies..

I seriously hope that's not the case. The thought of it makes me feel sick in the stomach - that some users would pollute this tread with such behaviour... I'm sure quite a few of the soundtracks I've downloaded from various places would fail a log test, but to wilfully engage in this kind of unacceptable behaviour (on this thread)?? I didn't use EAC because it wasn't appropriate for what I was doing. I had a single file WAV that I wanted to split, convert to FLAC, tag, etc., and CueTools does just that. The ACCURIP log created by CueTools said the rip was accurate, so I don't know what you mean. I wasn't the original ripper, but I respect them for sharing it, and since it seems no one else is willing to rip it, I decided to post what I had. If accuracy is such a concern, then may I suggest revamping this thread to show which release is accurate, inaccurate, or uncertain, so that people who share your sentiments can replace them? That would allow the library to grow, but also maintain the quality control you've desired. Nonetheless, your tone is very distasteful. Please don't pollute this forum with such behavior.

See? Then some of you wonder why lossless isn't that popular, yet, or why more and more people are dropping it. I don't really find that hard to understand. No matter what you do, you always find someone jumping at you for offsets, drive used, settings... formats.... or even tags. A few of us share here, this place is about sharing... someone takes the time to offer you something out of his/her collection, without any obligation to do it... and actually putting him/her-self on the front line of possible legal issues.
Be happy with what you get, and if you are that anal about quality.... Get the original yourself, so you'll make your damn fine rip.

Yes, yes and FUCKING YES. Its been a long time since i saw a comment like this and thats lame. And this applies to Lossless/Non Lossless. It's time to think about how many things you're getting for FREE while others paid in order you can get them FREE. Time to show a little respect, to say thanks, etc.
And BTW im not a guru of Lossless format but, whats the problem if accurip has offsets? Could someone explain me the real "danger" would mean this? Fake Lossless/Justanupgrade?

My opinion is that everyone that share something he/she owns can do in whatever way they want without caring about good/bad advices. And thats logical.
Its not the same to ask someone who uploaded an MP3 here, "mate, could you..." (asking with good manners) VS "Oh my, no flac, bullshit". I suppose you're getting what i mean.

As Akashi San said, the problem at hand, here, were "manners". He belittled Uvogin's share, regardless of it being done jokingly or seriously.
And Teddyb3ar is completely right, too. This place is about sharing, that DOES NOT mean that *whatever* gets shared will meet or, screw it, has to meet your personal standards, folks. Or, rather, I pretended I did. Would you like to know what it actually was? Redbook Audio off the PAL game release, tagged and edited with a few seconds of silence here and there to make it look like the album.
Not a single one of you, so called 'lossless experts' (some, at least, are still around)... discovered me and my fake release. You go and like to brag about this offset and drive crap, when you can't even tell a game-rip from the goddamn album, which... in case you're wondering.... sounded 'louder' and 'fuller' even in its #gamemp3s release, which had been around for years.
Get down to Earth, folks, you're not as good at hearing as you think you are. You don't deserve genuine lossless.

Sorry but what is your point?. That statement above would be a nice ending if you had converted a lossy source to lossless and everyone did not pick up on it. Except you posted a genuine lossless source if it was Redbook audio which as far as I know is CD-DA which is lossless. So how could they tell the difference between lossless and lossless?. Unless it was double-lossless of course.

Oh, it wasn't genuine lossless.... I've seen Redbook Audio attributed to different things over the years, so I won't deny that maybe the definition I know of it is wrong. The audio files on the disc, at least the PAL one, have a frequency of 22KHz, which I had up-sampled to the usual CD 44.1 Hz, and later converted to FLAC, creating LOG & CUE was a piece of cake. And, at any rate, go a bit back than that: the vastly encoder-outdated lossy version, still sounded a lot better than mine.
Seriously, it has been disheartening to see so many experts fall for it, and trust me... I'm pretty positive they did fell, they used to lash out and do rage-shows at the silliest things, like failed checks of file-spectrums on Adobe Audition, or C2 pointers being used or not.
My point was, that you don't really need lossless, unless you edit audio. No human can actually benefit from such encodes, as far as listening is concerned. Audio preservation? That's laughable, I'll sure care about that when I'll be six feet under.
The aim is to enjoy music, right? Lossy is more than enough for that. Don't give a shit if the rip is done perfectly or not, you're not really getting any benefit from it.

Have to disagree with you there, or at least partly. Recently I upgraded to a new iPod Nano which at 16Gb is twice the size of my previous Nano and so I've started to listen to the original lossless files where as before I would convert to 320kbs AAC and there is a rather dramatic difference on what I've heard in lossless and lossy in the tracks I've listened to especially the albums that I listen to all the time. I've compared with lossy as well as I did think it might simply because the iPod's sound was different.
To be honest the biggest difference has been sound stage which has become wider where lossy was more closed-in, and the clarity has increased too. I've started to listen to more music as a result, where most of the space was taken up by podcasts and audiobooks. For all I know, I may simply be going mad, but I believe there is a difference.

Could you tell me how you determined there was a betterment to sound stage and clarity? Was this a sighted test or a blind ABX? As you should well know, many "audiophiles" have been afflicted with the placebo effect and think there's a massive difference. If it was a controlled blind test, good for you - you are probably blessed with good hearing. :)
Err. By listening to albums that I play nearly every day using the same headphones I've used for the past few years (Sennheiser IE8) and in various environments (street, home when I'm working, and in my bedroom in the dead of night. I could strap myself in to one of those room where they test speakers in if you want me too, but you'll have to tell me where there is one in the UK.
And I've always had very good hearing. Mainly because I don't turn the volume up to 11 like most people I see walking through the streets. When I can hear the music you're playing from your earphones clearly even in a crowded room. You might have a problem there.

I want to believe that a definitive answer would never may given to the "question", especially since there have been - and are - 'listening-tests' which validate both parts... those who say there is a noticeable difference and those who say there isn't.
My main issue was to show everyone how this talk about offsets/drives/and all that crap which some of you like to obsess about... is pointless. Not only for the rudeness about others' kindness and shares, discussed previously, but also because a lot of lossless 'addicts' and 'anals' overestimate their lossless knowledge without even realizing it. Not to mention that some of you are more concerned with reading what's reported in a damn .txt file, than listening to the music with your ears, I feel bad for those which waste their time to 'help' you.

Blind test in my, at the time, band's studio room and actual legit album CD in my possession, so I could do a direct comparison. While the mastering of the CD isn't that good, this was one playstation soundtrack which had live instruments, namely guitars and drums, being used in it. On my "fake" CD R they sounded empty, hollow, not really reaching their full "strength" (hardly surprising, the audio was compressed on the game CD).

...and out come the wolves. Vegeta highlighted mistakes in YOUR original rip, I then asked (politely) if you had any intention of re-ripping the album correctly using Vegeta's specs which are on the front page of this forum (standard ripping procedures). I was under the illusion you owned a genuine hard copy, hence the re-rip. It's wasn't a big concern, but I was going to hold off on the download if you were intending on reposting. The failed report came from FB2K. I still fail to see where in my original comment I have directly accused you of ANYTHING? I said I "HOPE IT'S NOT THE TRUTH!!" I wasn't the one MAKING THE ACCUSATION. You're taking my response to Vegeta (about him saying you used a virtual drive) out of context (dishonest?)
I rarely try to get into an argument in this forum, but I think this is just downright disrespectful. I think people who fuss over small offset errors (milliseconds of music in reality) should buy the disc themselves and rip it. You do realize your uploads of X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes VS. Street Fighter had an offset error? Why then pick on Uvogin's upload?
I was responding to the legitimacy raised after reading Vegetas post about virtual drives & CDR's...
Perfect rips are appreciated, but does it really matter? At least to me, it doesn't. Neiax's hugely negative tone was simply uncalled for because it wasn't even clear if Uvogin was using a CD image. And even if he did, do milliseconds of music practically matter? No.

While you may not have made direct accusation toward anyone, you've certainly implied that shares of similar type are, basically, crap. You're obviously entitled to have your quality standards, but you should still change your attitude. Well, there is a point that Flac for someone will always sound better, and its ok (i dont want a fight with this again, lets each one choose whatever they want..) but there are some proper manners to say "please, could you re-upload in flac/or another rip" not putting your hands on the head and threating the uploader like a loser, like a fake, like a worm, like a asshole who apparently is trying to cheat all of us. C'mon, lets relax, this community rocks, lets enjoy the release in flac, mp3 or oasdasda.mjg, it doesnt matter.
Anyways i want to say that the fact that some people read the report of the rip instead of listening the music is TRUE. For example i download a lot of things and still havent heard all and really dont know if the encode 320 or v0 is real, but as im enjoying them, i find no problems then.

I just thought I'd ask the guy a small favour, who I assumed to have a legit hard copy, to rip the disc as per instructions of the front page. That's all. I then responded to another user who thought there was more to it. Why hasn't anybody said anything to him also? Are you all frightened? Look, there are 8-9 year old children terminally ill... dying of things like leukaemia and stuff, to put it perspective - I don't give two shits if I have decent rip... certainly not enough to sit here and argue with you people.

Common sense would tell you that "sick in the stomach" and "unacceptable behavior" have negative connotations... :) Moreover, the way you put "willyfully engage in this kind of unacceptable behavior" only implies that you made a false assumption. You can't honestly say that you did NOT direct your comment to Uvogin.
Geez, quote mining much? NO - nothing I said was personally directed at him, but a response to Vegeta. Just because words have a negative connotations to them doesn't equal an accusation. That was directed at users [note: 3rd person] who engage in the type of actions Vegeta was talking about, not Uvogin personally. I thought that was blatantly obvious. Guess not.
An objective person just trying to listen to music would conclude that you are the rather dramatic one. :) If you can't see that for yourself, I am not going to bother trying to make sense anymore.
So I'm the only person in the lossless community that thinks engaging in the type of behaviour Vegeta was talking is wrong? Also, making sense? That would be subjective - not objective... Get off your condescending high horse.

On a forum messages are, sadly, open to interpretation. Your post could be seen as a 'complaint/attack' to that kind of shares which, frankly, given that illegal file-sharing is somewhat risky... and not really on a "must do" list for anyone, but something we do out of kindness or because we want to... isn't really nice.
As to why hasn't anybody said anything to - Vegeta -, I assume? If I'm correct, I'll speak for me, he reminds me too much of the kind of lossless addict I despise the most, I'm pretty sure we'd be likely to not agree on anything, or short of that. Nothing personal against the man, it's just that I had it with all those guys which go: "your offset is this, when it should be that", "gaps weren't detected", "why a virtual drive?".... I mean, maybe you should remember some basic stuff about sharing.

There seems to be some corrupted tracks in the mirrored link for Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. Track 13 of disc 1 and tracks 15 and 16 of disc 2 won't extract. I've tried repairing them but no luck. If it were possible i would take an upload of just those tracks. Thank you in return :).

If you want the share to be like the real thing, then buy the real thing. Harping about offsets and all that other stuff gets you nowhere; it's pretty much crap nobody cares. Be grateful for what you're getting and stop being so petty.
Idjits.
Yes, I'm double-posting, but I want to add this, just for the lulz:
Back in the old thread I shared this:
KTCR-1461 | BLOODY ROAR Original Soundtrack ~Primal Scream~ - VGMdb (
http://vgmdb.net/album/2742)
Lol, I actually have played with the idea of doing that...at least once. For the lulz, mostly.

i deliberately skipped chunks of the previous posts but i'd bet a lot of this outrage might be stemming from the fact that a handful of users who are also members of the "illustrious" What.CD got warnings for reuploading some material shared here that was ripped with virtual drives and the like. those of you that did got exactly what you deserved since the rules on that tracker specifically make it clear that you are the ones responsible for what you upload. getting pissed because you didn't bother to inspect everything appropriately beforehand and then berating the user who originally shared what you were hoping to benefit off of is just foolish.

Wasn't there that discussion some time ago about how it's not just your drive offset, each disc itself has an offset created by the manufacturing.....thingy? So the offset thing is moot then, just be sure to catch the whole audio stream and how cares if there's a few samples of silence before/after. (Does an image rip bypass this btw?)

Have fun making them understand that, I tried and failed repeatedly... I didn't have an axe with me, though. There is no universally correct value, in regards to best offset to set, most "ignorants" blame the drive, but forget an even more important thing: CD mastering. Another example which relates to what I said earlier: a lot of those who want and enjoy lossless don't really have a fucking clue about how it works. It's not a bad thing on its own, but it's laughable to see some of you pointing fingers at offsets, drives, C2 pointers... when YOU're screwing up on a bigger scale.
Be happy someone takes the time to share stuff with you... and make the best off what you have.

Those at Wut?CD are the lowest type of scum. They may have their rules, but they're still getting stuff for free, illegally, thanks to someone else's pocket... and bitch about it. A disgrace to sharing.

FB2k has an auto offset feature which adjusts it for the specific drive being used, so the whole thing about offset setting really is a moot argument. One setting doesn't work for most or all other drives. The way I operate is I'm grateful for what I get on here since until the file locker sites settle down I'm a lowly leacher, and if I like it enough and can find it for a reasonable price I buy the CD. As for the lossy VS lossless thing and the placebo effect etc, I actually think I'm personally not so susceptible to it since I had experience with mp3s fairly early in the piece. They usually sounded alright to me, but I always noticed the sound stage. Don't get me wrong, I'm no anal nutcase, but I do know good sound from bad. And yes I prefer lossless when I can get it but many mp3s sound alright. Some rather good. But when listening on decent headphones I can still hear those little differences.

I don't frequent this site too much and have only taken a few rare albums from the old lossless thread, but have an opinion to express also......
I put people who take Red Book Audio and edit it to appear as an official release without telling potential downloaders in the exact same basket as people who take SPC / NSF files and edit them to share as official soundtracks..... BTW, that basket has a label on the front that reads "Fucking Douchebags"

Glad to know entitlement predates every scene i go to. Don't fucking bite the hand that feeds you, it's that simple. It's not trolling, it's not acting like a douchebag, it's YOU acting like you're owed something and then getting all uppity when someone doesn't fill your demands. I can only hope that some day i can give back even a small bit that the people here have given me. This behavior is disgusting and i'm tired of seeing it everywhere i go online.

Thanks, I suppose.genuinely meant. people trying to turn this thread into What.CD-lite or something are only serving to confuse things. anyone getting upset and calling you a troll for speaking out on what this thread shouldn't be are the ones who realize just how right you are.
it's all similar to the shit where someone would constantly ask for an album to be ripped and shared. share in the thread or not - but don't turn it into a spamfest where you nag users to death for something you're too cheap to buy yourself and definitely don't go trying to mold it into some mini DDL-based What.CD knock-off.

The fact that someone purposedly edited audio then uploaded it to share is wrong.
I don't understand why people would do that.
I don't do that, that's not funny, interesting, or nice.
When I share something I do it because I like sharing/giving back.
Btw, english isn't my native tongue so take anything you read from me with a grain of salt (as in, possibly not using the right words) KTHX
Also, some people read one line from a post and directly put me in a basket with the worst of human kind ? CHILL OUT GUYS you don't know me.
I'm sorry I have nothing -new- to share as a peace offering because most music I buy come from Bandcamp and sharing that isn't right as I learned over the time.
EDIT: You know what, this is the list of all my VGM, ask for 1 each and if I have enough time I'll upload them ^_-

I'll explain. One, I never stated my actions back then were correct, but I had my reasons... Actually, I did it because of folks who go and point out silly and small 'flaws' in others' shares/rips, we were starting to get a bit too much of that audience... And I wanted to test their knowledge, since they oh-so-liked to go and show their expertise with spectrums... Audio fidelity.... Sound quality through headphones/speakers... "I can tell lossy from lossless," yeah, right. Again, it was a mere test that I made out of fun, and they failed it pretty bad... I've already stated it, but I'll repeat it: nobody called me out on my ruse. Because of this, you could still see it as a win/win situation: I've got my laughs out of the ordeal... and confirmed once again how most like to overestimate their abilities... And they've thought they got their album.
Oh, one last thing, you are free to believe me or not... of course... but I've intentionally trolled a bunch of assholes only with that BLOODY ROAR share. All the rest of my shares should be good, or... well... are shared in good faith. And when I state stuff comes from a personal rip, it does indeed come from a personal copy of the album.

I personnally don't find that funny, but I'm not a laughing kind of person so what do I know...
I can say that even though I collect lossless, I can't tell the difference between mp3 V0 and Lossless, hell not even mp3 V2 and lossless. I see it solely as music preservation. That being said, I do have 180€ headphones (Sennheiser HD598), not too expensive, and not cheap either, mainly because I want the best sound out of the music without using equalizer or bass boost.

Heh, What albanoid said about WhatCD is certainly true, I find it rather hypocrite you cant download "their" material but they can private-share in their tracker "thegoodiestheygetbecauseotherpeopleboughtit", hypocrite till say stop. I suppose each one is knowing what he/she is doing.
And the sentence: "Dont bite the hand feeding you" will complete this thread any day and any time. If people keep bashing (without manners <-- Thats the fucking thing that is going wrong here) them, someday we will have less than zero shares. Time to come if the things are going like this.
And to finish this (At least for me) I understand perfectly Leon. Its not to fool the people, is to teach the people they cant be asking, requesting and aiming you with a gun to give a Log to put a screen cap showing its real, etc etc. A lot of people who claim to be "Owahhahaha, Lossless is the best thing of the world, the difference is ultrasuperhypermegahardcoremaximum! But you cant hear it because you dont have the right equip, fuck off loser!" experts, in the end they swallow their words, simple as that. And again, im not saying i prefer lossless or lossy or flobackswy, im saying all can be understable BUT with proper manners.
Enough for me. I'll waste my time listening to that Sniper OST Milo posted pages before and the new Ascension of GOW. Thanks!
