Western VGM is better anyway.

I am hearing some of the best music I've heard from a Mario Kart game in a while in Mario Kart 8.

I fail to believe that the age of great soundtracks from east to west is over.

We don't even know what The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U will sound like, let alone the next Mario game.

Speaking of which Super Mario 3D World was pretty damn good VGM.

Considering that loads of Western VGM sounds like movie soundtracks, I wouldn't call it better overall. That doesn't mean it's on the decline, though, and neither is Japan. My favorite soundtrack released last year was God Eater 2 by Go Shiina, a composer who can literally blend the west with the east.

Western BGMs are... boring. They are either orchestrated, or indie music. Sometimes it is not bad... but compared to Japanese arrangements, they left a lot to be desired.

Tropical Freeze was fantastic, though.

Remember how Sonic Heroes music used the guitar in like every track? I loved that to death. Not sure why I'm bringing it up other than the fact that it wasn't orchestrated. :P

I really wish Skyward Sword's OST was 44.1 kHz. I guess there were just too many tracks to fit on the game disc compared to Twilight Princess.

I mean, come on, don't be biased weebs, there's plenty of good music, out of anime and japanese games, too, like ManRay has said; indies for example. But even a few couple of american games have it too. But thing is most of american games, are normally realistical games, or war games; while most japanese tend to do lots of RPG games based in fantasy; and fantasy of course, and the genre, needs more imaginative, quiet and beautiful music, that's why "all japanese vgm music is good"..

Not a Ripoff per se, but not really much wriggle room if you wanna achieve faithfulness,
also it started out as a Sonic Fangame.

Glad you asked. I really like Fortune Night 2 a lot (lots of deep bass), Final Dreadnought 3, Fortune Night (Piano Arrangement), Liquid Emotion (Pangu Lagoon Remix), and both Epilogue tracks.

Cyberfox is a different branch from waterfox. I found the x64 version of cyberfox more stable than the x64 of Waterfox. Currently for Firefox, the x32 works better than the x64. My problem is that I sometimes pass the memory limitation on the x32, so I have to use the x64 version.

I noticed the great performance of cyberfox when I installed the AMD version on my father's pc (a very weak computer), and it worked fantastic.



On the topic of Japanese vs Western OSTs, I prefer the Japanese ones. The Japanese ones are designed to be heard for a long time, while most of the western ones are more situational (like the soundtracks of the movies).

For example, for a western soundtrack: Mass Effect 2, the song "The Normandy Reborn" is awesome when you see the scene, but it is not a song that you could hear repeating a lot.

Another example but with a japanese soundtrack: Valkyrie Profile 2, the song "A Motion of Finishing Blow", that is a song that takes a lot of time to tire you out. Most of the japanese soundtracks (for games), are like this one, while most of the western one (excluding indies) are like the soundtracks for movies.

No, there's no spoiler-tag icon in both Quick/Advanced Reply text editors.

I don't even remember exactly how/why I got it. This is going back about 12 years. I think it may have been a Best Buy pre-order exclusive? Maybe someone here remembers.

It's not game music in the strictest sense, but a sampler of songs that were used in the game. It's a fairly eclectic mix, and an enjoyable listen - if only a bit short. The Tony Hawk games always had great punk-influenced tracklists and THUG 2 might be my favorite of them all.

Well, if you consider "The Very Best of Kirby: 52 Hit Tracks (http://vgmdb.net/album/888)" a Club Nintendo album (which I know for a fact that you do), then this one is also one of them. They were launched at the same date, and with almost the same catalog number ('KIRBY04-1' and 'KIRBY04-2'), but the one which I asked scans is considerably more rare than the one you have. Sorry for the question, I thought that you liked to have every Kirby-related album, but it was by mistake, didn't know that you collected only Club Nintendo albums.

Eh.. seems like just a combination of the Pikachu Records soundtrack that were originally released. The only thing worth a rebuy, would most likely be, if the Red&Green BGM is remastered, because as MrRom92 says, it sounds terrible. Imgur provides different thumbnails (each with a slightly different link). Click one of the images you have uploaded and below the links you should notice a small field where you can pick Sizes; at worst, you should also be able to manually set width/height parameters through the use of HTML code.

It's of course only my opinion that it sounds terrible, but it's an opinion shared by most people who have the 1997 Pikachu Records release. The tracks (and sfx/cries) are bathed in this really overwhelming artificial reverb, and it's completely unrepresentative of what the audio sounds like on any gameboy hardware. Maybe if someone were playing in Cerulean cave. But it's really unnecessary and I'm glad they took a step in the right direction with their later soundtracks by giving us as high quality audio as possible. I just think this one really deserved a re-do.

Well, if you consider "The Very Best of Kirby: 52 Hit Tracks (http://vgmdb.net/album/888)" a Club Nintendo album (which I know for a fact that you do), then this one is also one of them. They were launched at the same date, and with almost the same catalog number ('KIRBY04-1' and 'KIRBY04-2'), but the one which I asked scans is considerably more rare than the one you have. Sorry for the question, I thought that you liked to have every Kirby-related album, but it was by mistake, didn't know that you collected only Club Nintendo albums.

But it seems that it'll not be a cheap one...

So, there's no existing Falcom CD release of the X68000 version of Star Trader. In fact, the only CD is the "Music from Star Trader" CD which is just the PC-88 version and some Super Arrange tracks.

The X68000 one's not only a better game as the publisher Takeru overhauled Falcom's original PC-88/98 Star Trader to be a better 'videogame' but stripped out a lot of story, it also has beefier sound.

Technically speaking, I'm fairly sure you already have the best you can get on this place. I don't see the admins/webmasters putting up a special page on the ffshrine.org domain just for one thread.

Give the user who manages the index in the first page some slack, the last update across the various lists was on February 14th. EDIT: I guess the dead/not-working links are kept there so that someone might request, or provide a re-upload.

Where these never released in actual, albums, or am I just a shitty searchers of scores?

There's some ways you can fix this, but the easiest ways would also either require some changing to the site, or would have to enforce a rule to have a specific keyword in upcoming download posts.
I for example can go do the 500~ pages now and have them indexed + searchable a lot more easily, but I would want the rest of that to be automated. If they all have a keyword, I can just add new posts and be able to seperate them from textposts by that keyword.

You guys should try this if you haven't already: go to google, and type the following

Make sure you leave a space before typing your search. Pretty sure the same can be done for this thread specifically by changing the url. But yeah, that basically replaces this forum's horrible search function :P

They were released in the FFX-2 International + Last Mission OST (http://vgmdb.net/album/2964), except for the full version of "real Emotion", which is only on sweetbox's "Adagio" (http://vgmdb.net/album/15797) album I believe. Also includes the full version of "1000 Words" too.

EDIT1: ALSO, I forgot about the "Engrish" version (not recommended, but to each their own...) that was performed by Koda Kumi, which is on her "Come With Me" (http://vgmdb.net/album/2963) single.

Theres no telling if you have a low-quality file, or if the original recording was shit-

I was mostly focused on the description "pop mix" in which those words don't come across any of the FFX-2 related albums on VGMDB, since the orchestra version was pretty much on everything I skipped it. I suggested to look on Youtube because if the guy grabbed his file from a decade ago, there could have been a strong possibility it was a remixed version made by some fan years ago. I say this because in my youth, and I'm embarrassed to say this, but hey, most people used to do it... used Limewire to download music; in which the possibility of getting poorly-ripped MP3's and unofficial remixes of specific tracks was incredibly high. We/I really didn't have such sophisticated catalogs of music that we enjoy today. I'm trying to think what is was like for alot of people a decade ago. When I was a teen, trying to download Kingdom Hearts music, there must have been like 15 unofficial edits/remixes of that same Simple and Clean track. I didn't even think about or no where it all came from. Turned out about 10% of the mass I downloaded were legit releases and the others fan-made remixes. Its probably not the case here, it was just a thought I had.

I hate it when they leave cutscene music out. I'd rather have the audio with sfx and voices then not at all.

I know this is an odd thing to ask (since most people prefer two loops), but is there a tool I can use to reduce a two-loop track down to one loop? I tried to use Audacity (it has a cutting tool), but I couldn't make the cut seamless enough.

For those that are wondering, I'm trying to get the 6-minute track trimmed down so that it fits in my crowded playlist. (That, and I'm trying to make it as accurate to the OST as possible if it had included the full loop, since I think most of the tracks on the OST are one loop, at least for larger themes like "Tragic Decision.")

If you have the original files there might be a loop point embedded in the file's Metadata. Use audacity to look at the Metadata and notations
