Please based Neo Chip, Des-Row - D. Impossible to find in lossless. Or does that count towards DDR?

Is there a FLAC soundtrack for the Sonic OVA?
Also, does anyone have a FLAC soundtrack of the Sonic Underground bonus music CD's? I have the music CD's myself
But as you can see they are still sealed.

Honestly, I don't think the OVA has an official soundtrack. As for the SU bonus music, I'm sure someone can do that.

So I have the Assassin's Creed II soundtrack, and it's currently awesome. However, I think others would want to listen to this album as well. If you guys want, I could upload this to MEGA and give you a FLAC version of the soundtrack. Just say the word and I'll start uploading it. I won't do it because it would be a waste of time to upload something that nobody would want. Just say if you want it and you'll get it... Eventually.

Well the OST is here but not the arrange album. And the OST sources are unknown so I dont know if the quality is really lossless. SO I was hoping someone could reupload both with cue and log?

I'm not sure if they include the .log/.cue, but I'm almost positive I've seen lossless copies of these albums in other places. I'll see if I can go DL one and peek inside for ya. Should I find it I'll repost it here.

----
EDIT: I've found the arrange with a .log, upping it now, I'm pretty sure I've got the original soundtrack here somewhere too.
Please be patient though, cause my upload speed is really rather slow.

----
EDIT2: Got them both, .logs included, fully tagged, .rar'd up and ready to go. Upload is SUPER slow so I don't think I'll have them both up till tomorrow.
Sit tight, they're on the way.

It's quite ready for use already. You were there when I posted about development builds. (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/lossless-video-game-soundtrack-thread-v2-126974/254.html#post2719722)

I heard _Marth_ likes albums with kinky covers that come with their designated .logs, and seeing I've nabbed more than a few Evangelion albums from him I thought he deserved a little attention. It wasn't much trouble to find these, besides the actual uploading process.
Cheers buddy!

When I see people recommend tracks for albums I always feel more inclined to give them a listen. This album on the whole IS REALLY GOOD, but here's a few noteworthy tracks:
203 - 容貌魁偉
210 - 雪月風花・吽
308 - 深山幽谷・吽

Yeah I went with the Booklet scan vs. the Digipak cover. I guess it's a matter of taste, but there are hi-res scans of both included in the download. Also I'm not sure if it's an alternate printing (it shouldn't be) but the ones being sold on Otaku appear to come in a jewel case which still features the Booklet art on the front.

To me sharing indie stuff is now out of the question, as It can pretty much kill sales which might be low to begin with !
(Also I thought I read it was on the "stuff that's banned" thread)
And come on, bandcamp / loudr stuff is cheap and you get lossless for the price.

I wouldn't either but its incredible how piracy also boost sales as well. But I personally respect doujin / indie works in not distributing them

I'd say that I purchase most bandcamp / loudr / CDbaby / etc. related stuff for myself (I think I've bought 3 copies of the Neotokyo soundtrack over the last couple years) the digital convenience for lossless quality is WELL worth the price of the album. The line gets a little blurry for me when we got to foreign doujin stuff. Anything more than a few years old, or produced by some niche little label, gets harder and harder to find. I've been met with quite a bit of difficulty finding certain doujins, digitally, let alone a physical release. We are seeing more and more circles doing dual releases of both a physical copy at some event as well as a release through and online distributor. WAVE is a good example of a group making the transistion. However, WAVE has been around for a very long time (long time compared to the usual lifetime of a circle anyway) and has a relatively large following.

I'd say it can go both ways. It might be physically impossible at this point to find certain things available for purchase. I don't know if I want to pursue this topic any further because of the moral gray zone, and the off topic discussion that may ensue as a result, but I felt the need to at least make that point known.

Back on track, the lossless music:

They aren't translated because those are the official Japanese tags. Should you want the translations check the vgmdb page I linked. I can't say I've experienced the "boxes" problem, though I imagine whatever you are using to look at the track titles isn't properly equipped with a Japanese supported font.

Thanks for the share. I hate the way VGMdb has the entries for Japanese composers, spaces are not used in Japanese when writing names. Or sentences. Or almost anything! It is a foreign thing for them that is not used very often as it means a really big separation of sentences or ideas. But what could you expect from a site that was taken over by a guy from Serbia who would rather have the localized name he likes for an entry rather than the translated or real romaji one?... Sorry for that, I got a little carried away.

BTW, is that kinky cover from a limited edition version? VGMdb has a less kinky one (then again, is VGMdb).

@_Marth_ See how can you remove unecessary quoting such as images?

I like to have the original tags, they display correctly in my iPod or XBox 360 and is the right way, at least for me. Although I don't like that for the filenames, now that does give you problems for old file systems and could render them unaccesible.

BTW, is that kinky cover from a limited edition version? VGMdb has a less kinky one (then again, is VGMdb).

From my own understanding there was/are 2 packages. One came packaged in a Digipak (More of a folder case then something like a hard plastic jewel case you see used for most common CDs) and a Jewel case packed one. I don't see anywhere on the net that there was a "limited edition" or alternate pressings, so I can't image there's anything different between the discs physically speaking. The online store that I checked with copies still in stock (Otaku) displayed the album in a shrink wrapped jewel case, not a digipak. So I went with the kinky booklet scan. Both scans are in there. Pick what suits your fancy, both are official in my book.

Alternate answer: Someone needed to contest mixi's massive number of risque album covers he's got all over the shrine. I thought tentacles would be a good start.

I consider myself pretty meticulous when it comes to metadata tags. Tagging both english filenames and foreign language track titles sounds tedious to me. I myself haven't run into any problems, but I'm not running anything on an ancient operating system. I feel, if he didn't want Japanese tags then he'd have to retag the tracks anyway. All the track numbers are accurate and those should be fine, so the workload is the same.

Well, since Sonic 3D is a Saturn/PC game with CD audio, has anyone ever tried ripping the tracks from a pirate copy of the game image (be it ISO or whatever) using a virtual drive? Would it be a good rip despite the pirating is not optimized with audio preservation in mind but merely dumping the whole disc?

Often, pirated copies of games are distributed with their CDDA compressed to MP3. The best way of doing it would be to get an actual legitimate Saturn or PC version of the game and ripping the CDDA using ExactAudioCopy. It works with PS1 games that have RedBook audio, so it should work the same way with Saturn and PC games.

A lot of pirated copies have explicit small-bin/cue/mp3 file layouts indeed, so they're obvious to tell and usually only take up to 100-200MB due to lossy compression. I'm more referring to those huge-bin/cue/nothing-else, NRG or ISO ones, which don't have the tracks directly linked into the cue file at all and actually size up to full 600-700MB.

What is the recommended custom Flac build on hydrogenaudio?

I use the vanilla build but if there are encoder builds that provide better performance or compression, I and certainly others here would like to know. If there isn't a unaminous 'winner' regarding the custom builds on hydrogenaudio, then I can settle for your personal recommendations on the matter. Thanks in advance.

You're welcome. Just pick the latest few posted on those threads then check out their benchmarks (or better, run your own too) to see which one works best on your hardware. Builds by latest compilers and with more advanced CPU instruction sets tend to do better, of course.

The obvious answer is any build that improves compression with either the same or faster decoding/encoding times. Even minutely, a small compression difference will add up over a large collection

Oh, I see. Sounds like a lot more work than it's worth, but I'll respect the extra effort, I guess.
However, my RELEVANT messages have also been removed, which is why I'm upset.

Let me ask again: What does flac.exe do? I don't remember ever installing it myself, yet there's an apparently super-improved build that recently released which has intrigued my curiosity.

Vrantheo

I'd say speed improvements take priority over compression ones.

Custom builds consist of two levels of optimization. One is merely using better compilers on the same code, so the binary runs more efficiently, but the execution results should stay the exact same (think of replacing repeated addition with multiplication). The other is actually changing the program's behaviour to achieve optimal results, be it the same as before or not.

In our case of codec builds, we're mostly referring to the former, since it just does the same things but faster. Compression improvement means different results, so it has to involve significant altering of compression schemas and algorithms, which is harder to get done without breaking current format specifications (unless it's so better that the devs decide to ditch them for new ones).

This (http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=106545) could be an interesting read.

Go to the program folder on your system. > Create an Flac Folder > Download the Flac.zip > unpack in the Flac Folder >
If a program (like foobar) ask: "Hey, where is the flac.exe?" > Show him the exact path to the flac.exe > That's it. (I think)

Let me ask again: What does flac.exe do? I don't remember ever installing it myself, yet there's an apparently super-improved build that recently released which has intrigued my curiosity.

That is the official encoding tool for the FLAC format, but it actually serves a general-purpose tool for the format as well (decompression, tag changes, etc.) Most people here probably use it in conjunction with Exact Audio Copy using the "external compression" settings to compress ripped files (WAV) to FLAC directly as they are being ripped. If you've never encoded FLAC files before, or have no intentions of doing so anytime soon, it's probably not something you need.

What a treat this album turned out to be. I picked this album up solely for an extended version of 'カゲロウ' and the other tracks turned out to be better. I'm no fan of rock music but this guy knew what he was doing and it sounds intense, its cool.

Oh, thanks for the clarification! Yeah, I rip my discs to WAV using EAC, and then convert them to FLAC using xrecode II. (This is just as good quality as ripping straight to FLAC, right?)

EAC can do it all for you with the help of the flac.exe (which usually comes with EAC anyway) .. In my signature is a guide that tells you exactly what to do, pretty simple step by step instructions.

Aha, I see. I don't see myself ripping any more soundtracks in the future (with the exception of Sonic 3D Blast (PC) if no one has already done it by Dec. 14th) so I was just worried that my current soundtracks weren't the best quality, so thanks for the clarification!

You can keep your phone and buy an external dac for it, there are quite a good ones, like the Fiio, the advantage of this is that you got to enjoy not only music but all of androids audio through your dac, I watch movies this way on my z2.

I got these from vnsharing.net. The site is not available anymore for some reason. It's been quite a while already, so it's likely to be dead permanently.

It's an anime/OVA, right? Then, the apt place to post it would be: Anime Music Download Links (http://forums.ffshrine.org/anime-music-download-links/), not this thread.

Still, you might want to save yourself the trouble; a lossless rip of that release has already been posted by Zac2uzumaki.

The .cue files for disc 5 and 6 have bad characters, so the names will look like gibberish. If you have problems with disc 1-4, then the problem is within your pc since it is not displaying japanese characters (unless you think japanese characters are "glitched" text). So it might be best for you to wait for a rip with english tags.

Stow it sonicrings4. You know full well it takes nearly zero effort to look up an album's info and manually put it into the tags yourself. Don't need to hear you whining about not being able to read anything. Lotta people in these forums don't have a lot of time, barely enough to upload anything, which takes forever, never mind editing the tags. So if you're going to whine publicly then I'll smack you down for it publicly. Grow up and appreciate what you get for free. Lotta people put a lot of effort into posting things, and they don't need grief for it. Subject closed.

VGMdb says there are more than the 22/24 tracks for each disc respectively. Are they wrong? Because your release looks right to me...
If you look closely at their tracklist you see that track 1 is the title of the disc, and there is no track 2. This was pretty confusing when I ripped it, and because of this EAC is not able to obtain album info from VGMdb. There is only 22 tracks on the first disc (Divina), and 20 on the second (Obscura).
I often come across mistakes on VGMdb when ripping CDs, both in the English and the Japanese tracklist, which is why I always double-check all track titles against the actual album before ripping, and most of the time I can't be bothered to correct VGMdb, or I simply forget it when I'm done with my CD.

First of all, what fuels your assumptions about my knowledge? "You know full well it takes nearly zero effort to look up an album's info and manually put it into the tags yourself"? Why do you think that?

Please understand all the names showed up as glitched characters because I don't have Japanese font on my computer. Also, I have no idea how to find tags for music albums, nor do I know if the music tracks are in the proper order. I'm studying for exams, so I was hoping to be able to listen to a few of my favourite tracks from the original. I don't have time to go through the process of renaming all the tracks.

With that said, if you'd like to continue being an ass I suggest taking it to a private message with me. This thread isn't made for arguments, it's made for requests and comments related to lossless video game music. May I remind you this thread was locked a while ago due to another pointless argument.

But seriously, if you have time to start and continue an argument even when asked to stop, you certainly have time to do something useful. If you have a problem with me not knowing how to find tags for the OR/AS album, tell me how or stfu. ;)

I'd like to contribute to both this thread as well as my friend, the creator of really nice dubstep remixes of beloved games! He finished his Sprout Tower Dubstep Remix yesterday, and I was with him every step of the way (he constantly sent me his progress and asked for my opinion, which is how Tin Tower made its way into the remix: a fine suggestion made by a long-time Pokemon Gold player).

I also helped him export his remixes as lossless files. His sprout tower is one of few which he exported as 24-bit. However, since his vids don't get that many views, he didn't feel the need to add download links for the lossless versions. I'm the only person who has them. :D

Anyway, if you guys want, let me know and I'll upload all of his remixes as FLACs. Here's his Sprout Tower remix. Please show some support!

Anyways i am curious now, can someone share the Cave Story Soundtrack ?

Now I believe this is a bit tricky. You can find the music files in lower bitrate mp3 on the English fan site for the game (.ogg too I think cause that's what's actually used in game). There was a humble bundle that apparently had the soundtrack included, but tbh I don't think it was a lossless release. Cave Story itself started out as a very niche indie project, so a part of me wants to say that the original's music probably doesn't exist in higher quality than the .ogg files.
You may have better luck when it comes to the Cave Story+ soundtrack, but I haven't looked into that enough to be confident with my information.

Anyhow if anyone has more information regarding the release I'd love to hear it.

brutal !!!!

please share more about that Viking Guitar !!!

I have it on my humble account, as you said, it is only on OGG and MP3. If anyone wants the ogg one I could upload it.

Please, if possible. It would be awesome, thanks.

That would be nice! I have one but I'm unsure where it even came from, I want to see if yours is higher quality...

He has about three more albums on his site that are "Name your price"

I have another one from him but it's not video game related, that wouldn't follow this threads theme...

Which version of Cave Story is this? Doesn't sound like either the new or Wii version..

Meanwhile, I have posted a link to the remastered version on page 316. You're Welcome. :)

Can someone upload the remastered version of the Cave Story+ soundtrack in FLAC? All I could find was this Thread 109648 in mp3 :/

Edit: Found this Thread 134903

There was a thread for this but all I could find in the first page was that the guy who posted wouldn't re-upload it for some reason :(

It's definitely physical, I guess no one has bothered ripping it then.

There are copies on ebay, amazon and amazon japan though.

In my opinion it has better tracks than the NY one.

If anyone's interested, I have lossless gamerips of several cartridge-based Sonic games (Genesis, Game Gear, GBA) that I made myself from the VGM files found on Zophar's domain, all named properly. Just let me know and I'll upload them.

How I did these was find the VGM files on Zophar's Domain, convert them to wav with winamp, convert those to FLAC, then rename them using mp3tag pro. I even ran Lossless Audio Checker and saved the HTML files in their respective folders: almost all tracks are lossless in most rips.

I'm currently creating lossless rips of the Sonic GBA games, so they do not appear in the screenshot. (There's no gsf file for Sonic The Hdgehog: Genesis... ha)

*Pokemon Gold be like "Peekaboo, I'm here too"*

I actually plan on ripping the Pokemon games in lossless once exams are done.. So if there's any interest, feel free to ask!

Couple of questions on this one. 1) Which version of the game did you rip it from? There's like 5 different ones. WiiWare, Cave Story+, Original PC release, etc.
2) Can you say you really get anything more out of a "flac game rip" then just dumping the files themselves? I discussed this earlier, but if we are talking about the original tracks, not the ones remixed for Cave Story+, they shouldn't be available in higher quality than the .ogg files that the game itself uses. So, and I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, what's the point of the flac rip? Other than the actual file type I can't see any purpose for it, doesn't it just use up more disc space than it's worth?
3) That being said I'm happy someone did a rip anyway, I sometimes question the sources I find on the web and I've seen the other stuff you've put out so I think I'll be happy with this one. Thanks.

(Yeah, it has a lame cover. If anyone wants to do another one, be my guest.)

I'll see if I can't whip one out later tonight, I've been meaning to do covers for darkravenx's FFXIV 2.4 rip and a Armored Core DLC rip anyway. I think I'll throw this one on my plate too.

Original. As far as I know, the other soundtracks (Wii NTSC, Wii PAL and 3D) aren't available in lossless form. Cave Story+ has the original, Wii PAL and 3D soundtracks (the last two as .ogg files).

The original Cave Story doesn't use .ogg files, instead it uses a custom format (more info here (http://www.cavestory.org/download/music.php)). To save myself the trouble, I downloaded the .ptcop files from that website and used ptPlayer to export them as .wav files. Then I converted them to .flac and tagged them.

The new version really isn't that great. I couldn't stand how boring the main theme sounded so I haven't played through the game with the new music or listened to the soundtrack. The remastered version, however, is similar to the original with different instruments and a lot more BASS (Access and Gestation, I'm looking at you <3)

Awesome, mega sure is the best, thanks for that!

About the same performance as my Nexus 5 can handle, I'm using it mainly for my legacy Windows games. I've always dreamt of playing PC classics on a tablet. I honestly can't recommend it enough, I'd pick one up soon as they have been selling like hotcakes.

I just bought a Windows 8.1 Tablet myself. The $90-$100 budgets are really functional, but really slow as hell, and the Stream 7's lack of RAM isn't at fault because even rams with 2GB of ram running the Z3740 (Baytrail) are still slow as hell. I'm not really enjoying mine due to the slight lack of power making the experience feel broken.

Wait until Windows 10 tablets or the Braswell chips to come out and I expect much better things.

As for slapping "lossless" on the tablet, thats a wasted endeavor. #1 Lossless is huge and the tablets like HD 7 are incredibly low on storage. #2 The DAC isn't great, the 3.5mm out isn't exactly of greatest quality, and Bluetooth isn't apt-x supported.

However $100 for a Windows 8 tablet is still are far better bargain compared to Amazon's bottom tier offerings.
Just use your tradional system even if it is -cough- .... XP.

I hope you enjoy Metro's interface in a touch screen form, you;ll find that it isn't that bad, looks really great, but isn't the most functional.

---------- Post added at 01:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:03 AM ----------

It has a great GPU, but not a great CPU. It won't run PPSSPP games that well.
You'll also run into an interfacing issues that makes playing non-mobile games a small hassel to the point where you need a mouse or keyboard/gamepad; and if you're going to keep throwing all those things onto a tablet, it hinder's its portability and makes you think "why dont i just use my desktop instead"

Its still much better at multitasking than ios/android.

I tested it on this Asus Vivotab Note 8" Tablet 32GB 64GB M80T | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/111541351252?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649) and its still not good enough to do ppsspp.

Went ahead and made one. I think I actually want to be more liberal with the color scheme, but I feel one should be faithful to the game's style when making something like this. Could be better, but I'm not really one to play with pixels much. I'll use this one for myself and if anyone else wants it I'll put it here.
(btw Dragoonglue the simple one you had up is actually growing on me a tad so maybe this was unnecessary)

No offense or disrespect intended, Rings, but I wouldn't post FLAC conversions of Genesis VGM format rips because of the issues with them. First is that VGM is a logged format, not an actual rip of the data from the game, and its accuracy depends on the accuracy of the emulator used in the logging, and there are rips that have noticeable problems and others are likely inaccurate in ways that are more subtle but audible upon comparison to the real thing. I'd be surprised if there are any VGM rips that aren't inaccurate in some way, even if inaudible (slight timing differences and such). Second is that none of the players for VGM files are accurate in reproduction either, neither in the sound chip emulation nor the output since the Genesis obviously greatly altered the sound with its (shitty) output circuitry. I know VGM files often sound better than a real Genesis, but it's rather wasteful of everyone's bandwidth and gives a false impression of correctness to post FLAC conversions. Although I will say that if due to your post anyone gets curious enough to grab the original VGM files from Zophar's Domain and use those instead, that would be a good outcome.

By the way, you said most of them are lossless. I assume you're using an automated lossless checker program. Don't trust it telling you it's lossy when it comes to chiptune music. Because the sounds aren't necessarily what the checker is expecting to receive it will give false negatives about things that are indeed lossless. For example, a track may use only PCM samples at 22 kHz or something and the program will think it's a low bitrate lossy encoding because it has no frequencies over 12 kHz. Barring the inaccuracies, all VGM files are lossless.

I know VGM files often sound better than a real Genesis, but it's rather wasteful of everyone's bandwidth and gives a false impression of correctness to post FLAC conversions. it happens because most people don't use their brains. Classic! I've seen lots of them saying that they can only listen to the LOSSLESS music, 'cause mp3 (aac, ogg or whatever) is an outdated codec from the long forgotten past and music in vbr hurt their ears. Ok. I admit it may be outdated.. in some way. But then they download upconvert and say "oh mi Goooood. FLAC Fainallee!!111ONEONE!1". But you know what? They don't even know that it's upconvert because they simply don't know how to check files (spectres at least). LOL And so on and so forth. :)

yeah now they will attack me with their LOSSLESS arguments for the comment. So please don't. I just don't give a damn about what you think. Unless you're the REAL pro in sound-related profession. Your lame comments will just vanish in vains. What I'm really trying to say is that the internet is full of stupidity. Before you say/ask any nonesense THINK first. It's not that hard to do. Thanks for your attention. I'm done here. I'm out doing upconverts and posting them here in REALZ LOZLESS. :) Dismissed.

Logging is merely the most usual method to produce VGM files. You can't call the VGM format itself "logged" (same goes for MIDI and such). It SHOULD be possible to get perfect VGM files straightly converted from ROM data, about which I've already asked a few posts ago but no one picked up.

Same old preserving-instrumental-error-or-not argument. I'm on the what-the-author-meant side so yeah whatever.

Agree. That's quite a pointless upload because everyone can already do it by themselves with ease.

Runs ok at decent settings. Also I'm not storing 'lossless' on it, I just want to extract music using EAC.

Thank you for your concern, though I've been asked to upload them so I felt I should go for it. :)

Hey guys! I'm a newcomer (only been here since last month) but here's my first ever contribution to this gold mine of a place! This is one of the rarest albums I've ever had the pleasure to own and Volume 2 seems to be even rarer!! It features some of Jun Senoue's earliest work for Sega and also, if I recall correctly, his first ever feature on CD for a video game. Awesome! :D This was ripped from my personal copy of the authentic CD using XLD on a Mac. All tracks are correctly labeled and tagged according to the info on VGMdb.net and from the booklet (I'm VERY OCD when it comes to tagging and labeling my music xD). For extra convenience, I ripped a copy in FLAC and a copy in MP3 320 (CBR), for those who don't like FLAC or don't want to bother with converting down. If you want lower quality than MP3 320, you'll have to convert down. xD Both sets include both the LOG and CUE files for proof that they were ripped accurately with no errors. For anyone wanting scans, I have no way of scanning anything but I have included pictures I took with my iPhone for added proof that it's the real deal. Now then, on to the good stuff!

Run one of these tools and share your score. 3 Free Tools To Get Windows Experience Index In Windows 8.1 (http://www.intowindows.com/3-free-tools-to-get-windows-experience-index-in-windows-8-1/)

I used Winaero and Chris, and got 4.1 on both
